They got one star just because the wait staff was great with refills Ordered the black diamond steak simply because it was one of the only options that wasn't 12 ounces. It was a crispy exterior with no flavor. The mashed potatoes tasted instant and the gravy on it was.... Goopy but not running off my food the consistency was less desirable than the taste. Hubby ordered a BBQ burger that was just a bacon cheeseburger with a smear of BBQ on it. First and only time we'll be in. The menu tastes cheap.. Spent 30$ though.

We went here giving the place a try the first time, and will never be back. I ordered a steak, which was ok but my mashed potatoes were cold. My side salad was weak, with only onion and tomato. Refills were hard to come by. Our server was easily annoyed b/c my friend was having a hard time deciding what she wanted, and look I've been there I was a server for over 5 years through high school. I know it's annoying and you want to go home, but you also want/need to make money. She was rude too when we left, not acknowledging us in the least. Also our food took too long for us being the second pair in there (30 to 45 min). I know steaks can take a while, but it was medium (which I did order) so shouldn't take that long. Also my friend ordered a chicken sandwich and it was pink. We both have been cooking for years, we know what uncooked chicken looks like. She sent it back, only to have it come back with the manager saying they "checked" it and it was just pink skin not uncooked. The skin changes to cooked color when it's cooked buddy, it wasn't skin it was uncooked. Also I hate the saying the customer is always right, but you sure as heck don't argue with them about whether something is done. We will not be back, which is sad b/c i'm all about supporting small businesses.

Went in and only 2 patrons so we wondered why. Look ed at the 2 for $20 menu which in fine print had upgrades available for an additional charge. We wanted to upgrade our appetizer to calamari which was $1 more than what was on the 2 for $20 choices. She said no substitutions allowed. We pointed out the fine print on the menu and asked her to ask the owner if he would allow us to pay the up charge. She reluctantly did and his answer was that calamari was too expensive that's why it wasn't on the special menu. We realize that hence why we offered to pay more to get it. When we got up to leave the server said wait he will do it but at that point the rude service was enough to send us to restaurant row in town. I don't need to drive out of town to Hoovers ever again. They obviously don't need the business. Friendly servers at Texas Longhorn.

Not the Hoovers from the past. Great food and fair prices. The Mediterranean salad with chicken, shrimp or salmon is the best salad in town. Crab cakes are well portioned and meaty. Close to my house but would go out of my way to eat there.

Second trip to Hoovers was pleasantly surprised I had the New Yorker a burger with bacon and cheddar the burger was plump and juicy cooked the way I liked it, served steak fries. Fries we're ok ( not a fan of steak fries) my wife had the turkey club she said it was delicious and a nice size, she ended up taking a section home. Coffee was also fresh and good. Service was good, and pleasant . Will return again, pricing was fair less than 20.00 for the two of us.

We went to this place regularly under previous owners because we liked the broasted chicken. Our recent experience, though, was very disappointing. The chicken was OK, but the sides of cole slaw & macaroni & cheese were not good at all. Our biggest frustration was that we called in our order & were told the food would be ready for us to pick up in 15 minutes. I got there on schedule but the food wasn't ready. They kept telling me it would be "just a couple more minutes." It ended up taking them 35 minutes. That would have been OK but THEY PROMISED ME 15! I won't be going back.

Pancakes are the best flavor I have ever had. Scrapple was crispy and soft on the inside. The young man that waited on me was very polite and kept my coffee and water full. Very clean.o hh and did I say about the pancakes!

I understand that this used to be Hoover's, then Dodie's and it's once again Hoover's. Our meal was okay -- the salad called "Fresh Chicken Salad" was surprisingly a green salad with mayonnaise-laden chicken salad on top. Probably should have ordered the "Grilled Chicken Salad." The only way to get a hamburger with bacon was to order the New York Cheddar & Bacon Burger -- hold the cheese and grilled onions. I asked for the French Fries extra crispy and instead got steak fries that were not extra crispy -- that's always lowers a score for me. Am I going back? Maybe.

I love this place! Every time I go I'm so impressed with how good the food is! I've had the burgers, crab cakes (delicious!), and the sherry glazed pork, all of which are awesome. I definitely recommend it! The only bad thing was one time a server was not so great, but it was his first day! SO, other than that, no complaints!!

Great place. Nice menu selection. Good prices. Food is tasty! Will be back again. Desert was fantastic. Really enjoyed!! Second time back. Got the lamb gyro. Won't be getting that again. Lamb is dry and tough. Think it is mayo for sauce. Just tomato and red onion, meat, and sauce. The key west shrimp is a hit- very good- highly recommended!

My wife and I visited Hoover's about three months ago for breakfast. We were greeted by a young man, presumably the owner, with disheveled hair and torn jeans. We were seated and the waitress, who had a very indifferent attitude, took our order. I ordered oatmeal and a blueberry muffin, expecting a hardy bowl of piping hot oatmeal complete with brown sugar, maybe raisins if I'm lucky, and a muffin. I was more than disappointed when the waitress brought a glass, yes a glass, of oatmeal that one can only get when you empty an envelope of oatmeal mix into a bowl and add water! The water wasn't even hot. I called the waitress over and told her I expected more. Oh, and the muffin was as hard as a hockey puck. I swear the waitress rolled her eyes and with a huff went to succumb the manager, who was the same gent who had seated us a half-hour earlier. He said that's the way they serve it here, but it's "on the house". I replied that I wasn't looking for a freebie, I just wanted a decent bowl of oatmeal. We waited for our neighbors who went with us and witnessed this spectacle, to finish their meals. We have been in for dinner before and it was passable but this "breakfast" was beyond the pale! I really wanted to see this place succeed because the remodeled interior is beautiful with original artwork on the walls. But until they get a wait staff who is responsive to customer needs and a manager who looks like he was standing at the Walmart exit down the street with a cardboard sign that says "Need Work" , they are bound to fail and he may very well be wearing aforementioned sign. If you can't even make a decent bowl of friggin oatmeal, what can you do. Needless to say, we never went back.
