I would give this place 5 stars, but because of 2 things; it gets 4. 1st, it is way too small. 2nd, way too hot!! They have 2 ceilling fans, but only one was on. They also have a/c, it didn't feel like it was turned on. Other than that, it was great. We ordered a sicilian pepperoni pizza and it was really good. I'm not a fan of sicilian pie, because there's too much bread in most, but this one was perfect!

This IS my go-to since moving to the area. I know this is a "pizzeria" but the Spinach Strawberry Salad is to die for. My son, 8, has started trying things other than cheese pizza since he can see the slices and order individual each time. He loves this place!

Good food but WAY too expensive!!! When they first opened, their prices were far more reasonable. They increased their prices by $4-5 per item in the last two years. $12 for a personal stromboli is a little absurd.

The food is ok and pricey which I don't mind if it's good especially around here, but every time I USED to go there, the waitress was always rude. Last time we visited, while we waited for our order, the waitress yelled at my son because she thought he was writing on the wall, when all he was doing was playing with his finger. Thank you for the awkward experience lady. I'll take my money to A Slice of Italy on Tilghman.

Mama's is a good Italian restaurant. Tasty cuisine even though I have a limited menu selection due to my food allergies. Very happy to see that they had gluten free pasta which I enjoyed. Spicy bolognese sauce was good. Also, the chicken harvest salad is one of the best I've had anywhere. Prices are a bit pricey though. Looking forward to trying out their new restaurant.

Best pizza around! Big selection on there menu & priced right for the amount of food you get. Friendly staff. Ordered a salad with chicken, big portion & delicious. Non of this canned veggies or prepackaged chicken. You will have no regret eating here!

Found this when visiting the area. I was very impressed. A true genuine local favorite. It was very busy yet the wait times were very short for food. I was amazed at three things: 1) they knew most of the guests who walked in and greeted them with great respect. 2) the place is full of shelves with wine bottles etc... Yet not a speck of dust can be found in any corner. 3) the food was remarkable! The meets were fresh and full of flavor and they didn't skimp on the toppings! If you want good, authentic, and friendly Italian cuisine this is the place to go!

Today was my 3rd time eating from here. The first two times I tried deep dish veggie pizza, Sicilian pizza, cheese fries, tiramisu...all subpar. My fiancé had the wings and rated them lousy. Today I went with my friend and had a plain cheese pizza and this was pretty good. Now that my favorite pizza joint closed, I'm on a search for a place to fill that weekly spot. Mamas is a tad pricey in my opinion. They are closed on Sundays, which to me is the best pizza day, so that's a bummer. My biggest issue I here is the service. I was only in the restaurant the last two times, both both times I felt more like a pest than a customer. The second time I tried this restaurant we ate in with my niece. The waitress we had was extremely rude. We thought we would never be back. Now we need some decent pizza so we are back. Today the counter guy just seemed annoyed. I prefer pizza places and act like they appreciate customers. So I rate the plain pizza today a 4, but service and the other food are more like a two, so a 3 star rating. I will try it again and hope for better service.

Great food, great portions! The garlic knots were bold! I absolutely love garlic so I loved it, but be warned that the garlic is semi-raw, which means it's got kick! Delicious! The spaghetti carbonara was creamy, rich and scrumptious. The meat lover's supreme pizza was huge and satisfying. The tartufo gelato sealed the deal. Lovely Italian soul food. Small, cozy restaurant with warm customer service. We were attended to dutifully, and many staff members came to comment on how cute our kids were. I'm not from the area so I might not come back here, but I do recommend the joint.

Some of the nicest people you will meet. Can't pass by without eating here when I travel to the area. Calzone is to die for.

This is in response to Corey S. below: Corey, If you have an issue with your visit at Mama's Italian Grill say it there & then instead of posting a review. Inflation is a big international issue in today's world. We have to increase prices when necessary due to high priced quality foods. Everything & everywhere is increasing whether it's with food distributors, gas stations, supermarkets & so forth. Sorry for the inconvenience. Also, calling someone a "troll" is not necessary that's very rude! Thank you!

First of all you are warmly greeted when you walk in which is nice. Food has always been good. We often get pizza (my favorite in the area), meatball subs (good, homemade meatballs), cheese subs, bbq wings (best in area because they are crispy yet covered in sauce...yum!), caprese salad. Husband was not a fan of his fish sandwich (but then again would you really trust the opinion of someone who thinks McDonalds has the best fish??? Lol). I got a club sandwich last time which had really good turkey, not processed lunch meat turkey but the kind that's carved looking. It was really good. This is the best and most consistent pizza and Italian food place in the area.

Food - Okay, Service - Awful (you know who I'm talking about) In case you don't, I am referring to the woman who is extremely mean and offensive to the patrons. And that tries to influence you on what to order. The people working behind the counter are always nice. My biggest complaint about Mama's is the pricing. I call them the Direct TV of Italian restaurants. When they first opened prices and food were amazing. I talked this place up as the savior to no longer having to go to Armetta's. Well it has progressively gone down hill, while the prices continue to peak like Air Products stock since Seifi took over. Place is good for a slice and nothing else.

I cant tell if the food was good, because my focus was on how bad the service was. I ordered a salad, and asked for no grilled chicken. just salad, apples, onions, and parm cheese. they REFUSED to discount my salad, and said it would be the same cost with or without chicken? I have never been to any other restaurant where they dont charge extra for chicken/salmon. Therefore, i paid 12 bucks for leaves and 5 slices of apples. AFTER arguing with the waitress AND the man at the register - they wouldnt budge, nor did they care to get it. NO THANKS! Dressing was very bland too. For the food, head to another local pizzeria with better service.

Recent return to Mamas not as great as my last couple visits. My shrimp pasta dish was good, but my wife's not so much. Service was a bit slow, and it was tough to get them to give us more bread. I'm hoping their move helps a rather dull ambience. Staff very friendly overall, and I'm hoping they remain BYOB

Food was cold and did not taste right. Really wanted to like this place but it just didn't work out.

When my husband got his panini and commented on its thinness, the server told him what he "should have"ordered instead. When I asked for a soda refill, the server poured what was left of my husbands soda into my cup. Not acceptable. Never again.

Amazing! So good. Loved the eggplant parm. Super friendly staff. Sweet older gentleman helps you pack up your enormous pizza. Cute little stop. A must see attraction/restaurant. The smell alone will sell you that you've made the right decision. Ill be back for sure!!!

You owe it to yourself to eat here. The pizza is amazing. The ingredients are real, the staff knows what they're doing and you will not be disappointed

First time in mamas Italian tonight. Pizza was excellent, wait staff was great and very attentive. Meatballs were hand made, juicy, and delicious. Definitely authentic, home made Italian food, most of the waitstaff spoke Italian. Will definitely be returning to try more of their specialty pizza combos.

Had the #14 Hot Sub - Sausage and Peppers. Bread was great. Sausage was good. I liked that they used red onions and yellow and green peppers. Good service. I like supporting mom & pop when I have the opportunity. The pizza looked good. I will be back and I will give the pizza a try.

Large portions, great taste, close to real NY pizza. Customer service needs improvement.

Good food but horrible service. Ordered kids chicken nuggets from menu and given different - 2x more expensive - order with less food. Basically told to deal with it in from of family and kids. Would have ordered something else for same price. Bad customer service but good food. Pizza was good. Mixed review. Probably wouldn't go back.

I don't understand why this place gets so much hype. The cheesesteak meat tastes like dog food. The sauce isn't very great. The Pizza is "ketchup on dough" garbage. I gave this place a try when I first moved to the area because they were the only pizza parlor that would deliver to my address. Pizza was a thick doughy ketchup mess. Even my 6 &7 year olds wouldn't eat it. I gave them another chance thinking maybe that was a bad night and nope same thing. Cheesesteak was straight dog food. It's beyond me how anyone can mess up a simple cheesesteak, but Mamas seemed to do so.

Excellent food!!! We have had the pizza..which is wonderful... several entrees...and also the yummiest garlic knots! The place has a lively ambience which is great...it is small, however, and if you are seated near the take out counter, it is a bit hectic.... but the food and Italian setting ..makes up for this... We will return often!

Best.Pizza.I've.Ever.Had. Trust me, I love my pizza and know good stuff. This place must put something secret in the recipe because it literally is the best you will ever have. They are all family that work there and super nice and attentive. Absolutely adore this place!! Oh and the cannoli is the BEST too. Lots of cannoli I've Troyes elsewhere had this oily quality to the crust. I didn't think I liked cannoli until I had it here. No oily crust taste! Sheer perfection!

We've eaten here once & ordered take out since then. Best Italian place around! Food is delicious, with good prices. My fiancé ordered an Italian hoagie and everything from the roll, to the veggies & meat were fresh. I had a personal Stromboli brimming over with meat & veggies, it was amazing & huge for the price! I have to agree with a fellow reviewer, food will not always come out at the same time, but the waitress did let me know ahead of time. Wait staff was extremely friendly & accommodating. The place gets very packed, but it's worth it to go! Byob is a bonus. When we ordered take out our pizzas were just as good, Sicilian crust is crisp & best I've had. Veggie toppings were fresh and the buffalo wings were yummy & still piping hot by the time we got home with our food. Strongly recommend going here, only thing I was disappointed with is that they are closed on Sundays.

I really love this place. The portion are huge and the people are very nice. I love their food. The only reason I have them a 4 stars instead of 5 is because the place is small and when we visit during busy dinner hours, it is cramp to eat in. Otherwise they really do a good job with their food. I love their chicken parm...such huge portion for the cheap price (I can eat it for two meals). I recommend this place to all visiting friends when we are looking for a good Italian restaurant.

Small place with maybe 12 tables. Waiting for take out is strange because there is no where to stand without being in the way. Food is top notch and the potions are crazy large. If they figure out where to herd the take-out people this would be an easy 5 stars

Food is good but watch your total Was charged for a whole pizza and only got a slice. Not even an apology when I made them aware of this. Had to drive 30 minutes to get my refund. Was a regular but like the raven NEVERMORE

We have eaten here multiple times since it opened a month ago and have liked everything we've tried, including pizza, pasta, cheesesteak, panini, garlic knots, wedding soup and calzone. Everything made fresh daily, including the pasta. My wife says it's the best fettucine alfredo she's ever had (and she's had it at a lot of different places). Garlic knots have fresh garlic on them not powder, and there was roasted garlic in the alfredo, which was wonderful (did I say that already?). The calzones are large, even the personal is more than any of us could eat by ourselves. I only have a couple minor complaints. The food doesn't always come out at the same time. This can lead to confusion with the server thinking something has already been delivered when it hasn't or asking what you're waiting on. The other is there is no breezeway, so eating in meant a blast of cold air every time the door opens. The food is so good that I consider these minor complaints, and you can always get it to go anyway.

Located in a small plaza off of the old Route 100, in the Trexlertown area. This place is quite small, with only about 12 tables. Large groups probably won't fit very well. They most likely do quite well in the take out area, since not much else is nearby. During our dinner, there were more employees than customers and when there was nothing for them to do, they rested their heads on various tables. The pizza is what I call PA Italian, with a thin boring crust and very little sauce. Still waiting for a Lehigh Valley pizza shop to surprise me with an amazing pizza sauce. The garlic knots had not risen fully and were completely flat. Like a good Italian restaurant, the cannolis were not filled until time to serve, but disappointingly were only filled on the ends and not completely through. After eating appetizers, dinner and ordering dessert, not once did anyone ask if we needed our drinks to be refilled. They are fairly new and maybe with time will get better. There is still hope for this place.

Been a couple of times. Gets packed at dinner time. They do need to figure out the pace of when to bring appetizers out, preferably before dinner would be great. One of the waitresses (older blond) is a bit rough around the edges, you'll know which one I mean. Owners seem really friendly and attentive. That all being said, the food has been great. Pizza is best in the area compared to the likes of Armettas. We had diner entrees one night, chicken alfredo and chicken marsala. Both had great tasting sauce and was plentiful for a second meal. Yummy garlic bread too. Finally good Italian close to home. Update: The waitress mentioned above ruined our last dinner. Brought spaghetti with red sauce to accompany the chicken marsala my boyfriend ordered. She insisted that was what everyone wanted. Really? How come last time it was plain linguine under the chicken marsala then? She also ordered shrimp scampi when telling the cook even though she wrote down chicken scampi for my dinner. Then she tells me well the shrimp is better anyway. Also the AC was out, and she didn't once apologize. She is definitely part of the family so she's not going anywhere. We'll only do takeout from now on.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
