Great food! Good service! Nice staff! Atmosphere is nice, but could be nicer given the prices. (They could afford a decorator.) No complaints:) would recommend!!

Meh. Our experience never hit its stride and we won't be back. Friends tried to warn us and we should have listened. First, service was somewhat lacking. There was no silverware or napkins when we sat, and either the hostess or the server (I forget who) promised to bring some but must have forgotten. Our salmon dip appetizer (excellent by the way) was dropped off by a third employee but we still lacked any accouterments, so we made do just dipping the bread into the serving dish with no plates or silverware. We both needed napkins as we both got a little dip on our hands, but none in sight. Our dinners appeared not long after we requested silverware from our server. She did bring it at that point. The entrees are rather pricey and we stuck to sandwiches. I ordered a bison burger, which I expected to be vivid what with the promised garlic mayo, smoked Gouda and sautéed onions. It was actually very bland. I was hungry but only ate half of it. Ironically, my husband's prime rib sandwich, which I typically avoid because I find it bland, was far more flavorful. The fries were good; the baked beans, again, bland. Atmosphere on the outside porch was lacking. It was kind of awkwardly quiet with no music, until some was finally turned on a few minutes before we left. Decor is really sparse out there, plus it's pretty dark. Also a little buggy. Cintronella candles? Torches? Something more was needed. We won't be back.

I've been here on and off since this restaurant opened. In fact, I was here when the place was called the Boalsburg Steakhouse. AT LEAST THEY KEPT THE BULL! Well Kelly's has spruced things up and started inviting the people who can afford a pricey steak and allow the State College elite (my a...) a chance to put their pinkies out. The food here is actually quite good. And Yuengling for $2. Dat my $hit! I had the beef teriyaki appetizer which was amazing. Melted in my mouth with amazing flavor. Salads here are also nice and fresh. I thought it would be a good idea to come with my parents to this "First Friday" thing but considering some members of the group were super socially awkward, I sat at the bar debating which eye to stab first. I mentioned to the bar tender how bored I was, and he took time from serving other people their drinks to chat. It really meant a lot to me (and my eyeballs) that he went the extra mile and we had an awesome conversation. Kelly's is a great place and I highly recommend!

We had dinner here tonight. We each had an appetizer : heirloom tomato salad, seafood corn chowder and crab &artichoke dup. We had salmon, rib eye and a steak salad for dinner. As always the food was Outstanding. However, the service left alot to be desired. The bartender was also our waiter and he had a slamming bar. It was way too much for one person. He had several bar backs working with him but they just couldn't keep up. We waited 30 minutes to get the bill after eating. We have eaten here whenever we are in town. The food has always been great and service has been steller until now. Next time I will be sure to ask not to be seated near the bar to avoid that problem.

This is a quircky, local restaurant. There are some dishes on their menu that are not A-OK, and I think they should have the sense to remove them. They are also local, not a chain, and they use local help, and this leads to mistakes, at least the number you would expect and perhaps as many as you would fear. And, they don't reprint their menu often enough (ie to remove dishes that are out of season). The upsides are that the good dishes (seems to vary by person) are pretty good. They are not cheap, but at least there are too much of them (really, like, help make you fat too much, this actually the downside that led to this review). Some of the wait staff are pretty good, some obviously less so. I think they take direction ok, and you probably have to be more proactive with them than you would expect (e.g., hello, you will be my bartender for this evening, we have to leave in an hour, I would like more bread (which is ok bread in my book) and water, etc.), and you may have to tell them what compensation you want when they fail. at least they are not rude like Herwigs. and you should probably ask for a to-go box when you order because you will get more than you should eat. They have a nice drink selection, particularly in beer. I like to eat here when someone else is paying, for sure, and sometimes go on special occasions. summer evenings in their patio can be pretty nice too. so, yeah, I go back.

I thought Kelly's was pretty tasty! My parents and I were visiting my sister and her fiance in PA and wanted to go somewhere nice for dinner. We made reservations so we got in without any problem, but it was pretty busy (it was a Sat. night), so I'm glad we had reservations. Pretty good selection of local beers and cocktails. Also, we got a couple appetizers: gorgonzola fried potatoes (yum) and crab dip (yum x2). Both were really good and would order them all again! We ate dinner fairly early so we were able to order off the Early Dinner Menu - you received a soup or salad, entree, dessert and coffee for around $20. Great deal and tons of food, so if you're wanting to save some money, I highly suggest that. I opted for the blue cheese salad (so good) and the parmesan encrusted sole. The sole came with mashed potatoes and roasted vegetables and was very tasty. The sole was a littttttle too buttery/greasy for my taste, but still good. For dessert, I had the choice of either cherry vanilla ice cream or raspberry sorbet. I got the raspberry sorbet, but my dad got the cherry vanilla ice cream ... both were very good too! Overall, I really liked the Early Dinner Menu. It was a great deal with lots of food. I think if I would've ordered off the regular menu, I might not have liked it as much just because the food wasn't overwhelmingly delicious, but the cheaper price and salad made me like it quite a bit.

My favorite place to eat - not just in State College, but almost anywhere. It's a wonderful mix of Surf & Turf with an Asian flare. The decor is relaxed and classy at the same time. One time I had this pumpkin ravioli, and to-date it was the greatest pasta meal I've ever had. Their staples are to die-for. For lunch, or cheaper fare - I love the fish tacos. Huge portions. Their sandwiches are wonderful as well. When I used to live in SC, my wife and I would frequent Kelly's often. Now that we live in Philly, I miss it, in spite of many excellent restaurants around us.

I came here with a party of 5 on a football weekend right after the game ended and surprisingly it wasn't crowded at all. We sat down right away and were immediately greeted by the waitress. Very friendly and quick service. We ordered calamari as an appetizer and I got the soup of the day, Butternut Squash. The soup was fantastic, so good I would go back just for that. We ordered burgers, a Reuben and crab cake sandwich for our meals and all were delicious. I was super satisfied leaving Kelly's. This is my first time here so I can't recommend any dinner entrees but I would definitely recommend for lunch! Unknown to a lot of Penn Staters so a great place to go when you are trying to find somewhere less crowded to eat and not far from campus/downtown (especially on a football weekend). Note* Located farther down Atherton so you must drive there, no way to walk from downtown.

Only minutes from Penn St, I decided to try Kelly's since its parents weekend we wanted to avoid restaurants close to campus for fear of crowds and give our child a great meal def not like cafeteria food. Choosing Kelly's was the perfect choice. I would recommend everything we had which are : spicy pear martini, crab cake appt, filet of sole special, salmon stuffed with crab, filet tips with lobster sauce. We sadly had no room for dessert.
