Best BBQ in Bensalem PA!!! ...since it was our first time, myself and my fiance tried a bunch of things - ribs, BBQ pork, beef brisket, wings (with gold rush sauce!), fries, and corn ...and all were great. Definitely a new favorite. Giving four stars because the interior could be better.

Hey Smoke'n Dudes you have finally hit the yelp scene! I have been noticing your very colorful and highly decorated vans driving around for years! I adore barbecue, one of my very favorite comfort foods and hubby has been dieing to check you out., so he downloaded a buy one entree, get one entree free from your website and off we went. I understand that it was around 3:00pm, but almost one half hour for take out when we were the only order was a bit much. Hubby noticed they kept inserting a meat thermometer into his stuffed pork loin and you giving it more time. That is cool, get it to the right temp, but it was your daily special and you open at 11:00am! His other entree for tomorrow night is the half smoked rotisserie chicken and between the two meals for his sides he chose mashed red skinned potatoes that were quite tasty, baked beans that could have came from a can, they were very thin and nothing wonderful, canned corn and a corn muffin that was good. I had to snag a bite of the chicken to yelp about of course and I liked the smoky flavor and it was very moist. His pork was not cooked and it was on the tough side. For my entree I had the House Sampler of two ribs ( you gave me four, thank you), BBQ pulled pork, BBQ beef brisket and my sides were mac & cheese and red skin potato salad I love when I pick up my ribs and they fall apart, this did not happen and could not happen because they should have cooked a lot longer than they did. The meat was flavorful enough but fatty. They were meaty so there is potential in them. Certainly not the best I have had. The pulled pork was good and the brisket was uneventful. Check out Tommy DeNic's the next time you are at the Terminal and ask him for a few tips and bites. I just love his passion and watching him check the brisket and pass out free bites with so much pride. The mac and cheese is the same mac and cheese you can get at Popeye's, KFC or Cracker Barrel. I liked your potato salad but I had a real problem with how it was handled in your store. The gallon tub of potato salad was down to probably one fifth full at the most. Kathryn used her bare hands to pick out a plastic teaspoon, which she laid on the counter. She then put on one plastic glove which she used to stir the salad and to use as a scoop to fill the cup. This was cool, but then she took off the glove and used her bare hand to pick up the dirty teaspoon and threw it back into the container of the remaining potato salad, why? Why was it even in there? For tasting? I then made it a point to watch her and she is fidgety and I am picky! She reached under her shirt to scratch her back, swiped her nose a few times, scratched her head, answered the phone and used the register and then just dove into baskets of uncovered plastic ware to throw in my bag! The best part of this whole scene is I hate most potato salads I order out and yours was very good, very good indeed. I just wished that I had felt better about eating it. On a good note I had a half pint of some of the best chili I have ever eaten, with chunks of beef plus ground beef and I loved those chunks of green pepper, onions and tomatoes! The flavor was outstanding and I enjoyed each and every bite! Kudos to you on that. The rum raisin bread pudding that you won first place in the Pennsylvania State Championship has wonderful flavor, but I shall bake it more tomorrow because it was 70% uncooked raw dough. I understand that you cater pig roasts and have won state championship awards but you are prepared for those, your restaurant was not ready for us at 3pm and this is what we got. Folks you can dine in at one of their five red checkered clothed tables, call in ahead for take out or have it delivered and as mentioned they do have catering. I feel bad and I wanted to say 5 oinks and that I am stuffed like a pig, but this little piggy is crying wee wee wee all the way home. Oink... 2.5 oinks.

These ribs were horrible. They were tough and the sauce is mediocre. Kraft has better BBQ sauce. The Mac n cheese is awful as well as the unseasoned veggies. I highly do not recommend this place.

Really the best ribs around. If you love them falling off the bone, tender, moist this is the place you've been looking for. Although the last time we had ribs they were a bit dry and tough. Hopefully just a bad day. Return visit about middle of June '13. They seem to had lost it. No more fall of the bone and wet ribs. More dry and chewy. Sorry.

Beef brisket, Carolina fries, wings. Everything is always well prepared and fresh. Seems to be the best bar-b-q in the Bucks COunty area as far as I can tell.

i had almost given up on this place. i called for takeout at 6:30pm on saturday night and no one answered the phone. the rejection was hard to take considering how hungry i was. good thing my husband called up the next night for takeout. thankfully they answered and i got to have my bbq fix. dinner was ready in 20 minutes. perfect. after we were done eating our take out from here, my husband turns to me and says: i am full, as in hurtful. notice i didn't write after we were finished eating. don't get me wrong, i pigged out. and happily i have leftovers. the pulled pork is DE-licious. piles of it in my takeout container and packed separate from the bun. the slow cooked taste is evident and just a small drizzle of bbq sauce. the full rack of ribs are meaty and reminded me of how i used to get the rack from the butcher in san diego. the chicken wings are a great value: 10 for $7, tossed in your choice of sauce. we got the apple bbq- sweet and slightly tangy. the sides are nothing special, it's just extra food to wash down the meat. the cornbread is good though, moist with good corn flavor and slightly sweet already. i was initially disappointed that we weren't given any honey for the cornbread, but it didn't need it. definitely one of the few places worth eating at while in bensalem.

You have to try their smoked wings. Hands down some of the best wings I have had. Juicy fall off the bone deliciousness, with a nice smoke to them. Went with the mild this time and it had just enough kick to it. The wings are definitely bigger then those you would get at a pizza shop. Always consistent and good. Never had a bad meal here. Quality BBQ for the area. They also fill propane tanks for cheaper then the big box stores.

Ordered a full rack of ribs with 2 sides for $24. The ribs were absolutely disgusting. They tasted like they were cooked 3 days ago and were reheated several times. They were very tough and the actual rib had VERY LITTLE meat on it. It's pathetic but I've had better from TGI Friday's. I attempted to eat 2 and threw the whole rack in the trash. That's how gross it was. The bbq sauce wasn't very good either. I've had better from the store (Sweet Baby Ray's). The sides were about 4 oz (very small). The wings were fatty and I ended up tossing them in the trash as well. Overall, I wasted over $30 on this meal and ended up eating good old peanut butter and jelly for dinner. I won't be going back to this place ever again. Maybe you will have better luck.

Thought we would try a bbq place, this place was okay at best. The ribs were fatty, but the fries were good. The service was terrible. I though our server was rude, and clearly she could see that I was not happy with my meal. She didn't offer to take it back or take something off the bill-I guess I just chalked it up to her age, she was very young. It was also very small inside and had only one unisex bathroom, and it was in the dining area, not at the end of a little hallway, away from where people are trying to eat! Needless to say, I will not be returning there!

You would not be surprised by the total "shackiness" of Smoke 'n Dudes if their cabin was surrounded by forest rather than parking lot. Outside was a large trailered-up grill/smoker ready to be hitched and taken on the road. Step inside, and the knotty pine paneling and wood plank tables with red checkered cloths put you in a mind of a backcountry store where BBQ and moonshine are a way of life up there in the Smokey Mountains outside Ashville or Gatlinburg. The menu is small reflecting the size of the joint. In for lunch, the friendly server showed me the specials menu, and I opted for the Pulled Pork Sandwich with Cheddar and Sautéed Onions on a fresh oversized smooth topped Roll. It came with chips, but for a buck extra, fries could be subbed in. While I waited I sipped on my Lemonade and listened to the banter between the employees. This might be Bensalem, but the accents and topics of conversation were straight from the southern Appalachians. I was right there with 'em. The sandwich arrive full-plate, and I opened it up to have a look-see, and taste a small sample. First impression was of a fully smoked meaty lean pork; good texture, but perhaps cooked with a milder marinade and BBQ sauce that left the meat juicy, yet not as flavorful as I like. The Dudes were ready for that as the table had 3 bottle rockets of sauce ready for squirting. Spicy, Hickory and Apple were the flavors. I tasted each and found the Apple to be the most intriguing and tasty. It had a nice fruity sweetness that was distinct from the other undertones of vinegar, molasses and brown sugar. A long squirt dousing the pile of pork quickly resolved that issue. From that point on the entire experience was pleasurable and satisfying. I liked the Apple BBQ Sauce so much I added some to the chips, and if I had ordered the fries, would have used it rather than ketchup. These sauces are for sale at the counter. While great BBQ is hard to come by in this neck of the woods, Smoke 'n Dudes provides something very close to what I love - fall off the bone, spicy, tangy well grilled and smoked meat that assault the salivary glands and squeeze them dry. What I would have given for the right beer and shot of Dickel at that moment! Alas, this was lunchtime in Bensalem, and that fantasy would have to await another time or place. BYOB for dinner???

Found this small little place when looking for bbq on yelp. - food: we started with an order of onion rings. They came out steaming hot and were very good. They offered a side of ranch, but we opted to using some of the sauces on the table. For entrees- the ribs were phenomenal, and that comes for someone who is a rib lover. I had the beef brisket, chopped. It was also delicious. As for the sides. The beans tasted like they were from a can, the cole slaw was good, but not great. The corn bread was very good. - service - the young man who greeted us was super nice. The service over all was very good and they were attentive. Overall, very good experience and we will be back.

Total yum!!! The brisket was finger licking! The cole slaw deliciously unmayonaissey! Cannot wait to return really soon!!!

I stubbed upon this restaurant during a Google seach b/c I wanted some BBQ (just coming from Texas a couple weeks prior) I wanted authentic fall off the bone BBQ. So my mother and 2 children decided to frequent this place. The place is relatively small as others mentioned but that was fine and workable. The wknds are the busiest days for all business, we all know this, we ordered the half rack of ribs and was told 15 mins later they only had one rack left and they were out of cornbread. What BBQ places runs out of cornbread and ribs??? Not only that but my son ordered the chilli fries and bbq tenders only to be bought out a buffalo chicken sandwich after we were through with our food (that's how long the wait was and it was only my family and another family of 4 in the restaurant at the time) and my check ended up being wrong. Would I recommend this place? NOT AT ALL... !!!

So I stand corrected in my prior review I have them too much kudos probably because it was years since I last visited them until recently. The ribs not as good as they used to be and the prices and portions are off. I ordered mash potatoes and paid outright for them and I probably received 2-3 ounces for $2.50 and although $2.50 doesn't seem like much but when you are getting 2-3 ounces it is a complete rip off! Poor quality of meats and the blatant nickel and diming has caused me to drive a lil further to the rib shack or sweet Lucy's in philly.

Their ribs are delicious. Each time I get them, the meat comes right off the bone. The baked beans are great, and taste even better with the hickory BBQ sauce. If you like spicy, try the hot BBQ sauce. It has a kick. Service can be slow if they have a lot of orders. Most people take out because there are only a handful of tables.

My parents ordered ribs and wings for a football game, thou the wings were good, I do not prefer the ribs. I do not enjoy their sauce and it wasn't very tender

this place is really good!! i think one of the better BBQ joints around. i can only give it 3 stars because of how small it is and the fact that they are closed 1/2 the week. give them a try!! if you're lucky they will actually be open. lol

Decent barbecue but not a good place for dining in. We ordered pulled pork and sliced brisket, along with our sides of cole slaw, baked beans, and fries. Overall, the food took forever to come out and it was just okay. I definitely do not recommend this place for dining in. It is very small inside, so there are only five tables. Also, there is no music playing or TV to watch. However, we did have the luxury of listening to all the lovely conversations the workers were having...

Usually great food, but we ordered our super bowl food a day in advance, and now we've been waiting here for about 40 minutes, and have no clue where our food is. Really unacceptable.

After seeing this place for years and never going in, I finally decided to give it a try. Luckily, I wasn't too disappointed. I'll begin with my biggest gripe, and really my only gripe - the seating. Only five tables in the entire restaurant? I realize they have a small lobby and make most of their money on catering and take out, (which might excuse the lack of seating) but it doesn't excuse the decor. Maybe they were going for gritty roadhouse, but got caught in the family friendly zone, it just looks odd in there. However, don't judge a book by its cover I suppose, as their food makes up for it. I ordered the Carolina Fries which are just fries covered in pulled pork and cheddar cheese. They were delicious! Now it's not like it's hard to mess up loaded fries, but I was happy with what I got. Also, the person I was with got a side of mac and cheese which was equally delicious. Their in house sauces (I'm not sure if they're made on premise or bought) are not bad, though it would be nice if there were more than only three on the tables. Overall I liked it and would go there again, though maybe for take out next time, instead of dealing with their cramped dining area. Decent food though, and probably far better bbq than the chain choices available in the area.

First of all, I don't know what the bad reviews about this place are all about. I've been here three times in the past month since my boyfriend moved nearby. Every time has been excellent for both of us. We've tried the pulled pork, pulled chicken, ribs, half chicken, various sides and fries. The ribs were falling off the bone with little fat and the sauce was the perfect amount. My favorite is probably the pulled chicken, so tender and tasty. The hickory BBQ sauce is the best in my opinion. Watch out for the hot BBQ, boy is it hot!! The cornbread is also very yummy. Staff has always been polite and friendly and the food never takes more than 10 min or so, even when busy. Will definitely keep coming back.

Very good pulled pork! We've ordered from here many times but have also used their catering service twice already! Worth it!

Tried the beef brisket and the mac and cheese. Both were unremarkable. Brisket was chopped, not sliced, with no smokiness, and I was not a fan if the apple-spiced BBQ sauce. Mac and cheese was nothing more than Velveeta melted over pasta. Exterior of restaurant was ugly but the inside had a cute cabin-like theme, although not very large. Won't be going back.

I am a fan! They have to have some of the best wings in the area. They may not have a million sauces to choose from, but their wings are fried just right and are nice and big! The smoked wings are amazing too. I have yet to have anything here that I do not like. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is the service can be slow. I work a few minutes from here and enjoy hitting up Smoking Dudes a few times a month! This place is worth a try if you like good BBQ

Catered my graduation party 6/21/2014. Everyone raved about the food! It was delicious barbecue and the variety of sauce flavors was good. Delivery service was great also. Plenty of food for the number of people. I highly recommend.

Great food...but customer service is only so so. Just called at 8:03 Saturday night to place an order. Was told that they decided NOT to make any more deliveries again that night..on a SATURDAY night??!! Bottomline: Good food is only one component of what makes a restaurant great..Convenience and customer service are two more components too..and on these last two points..the Dudes is lacking.

My wife and I have eaten here several times, and brought it back for large family meals. We've eaten a lot of bbq around the country, and always find this satisfying. The wait times can be a little bit long, but we never go unless we are relaxed about time, or we call ahead for take out. The ribs are very good and my wife loves the chicken. I am a big fan of their apple fritters, though their hush puppies are a little inconsistent. Highly recommended on my end. Would probably go there more if we still lived as close as we used to. Now it is a bit of a hike.

New to the area and looking for a good BBQ place to chow down at, I happened to find this place accidentally driving by it. I decided to try it out to see how it was and if it was like the good BBQ I miss from Texas. I had ordered the brisket. Well, I can tell you that it wasn't even close :-( Very disappointing. The BBQ sauce was super ordinary. So needless to say I was not impressed. I few months later I had the craving and decided to give it another try. While I was there, people were complaining how they called their order in a long time ago and it still was not ready. I ordered the bbq chicken and ribs this time. After waiting for a long time, I got home and tried to eat it. The chicken was undercooked and nasty. the ribs were nothing special. I am not really sure how these people are giving this place 4 stars. I've eaten all over the country as well and this is not even close. I can say I have tried it twice and that is two times too many. It's a real shame. I hope I can find a good BBQ place in this area. :-(

I guess I get consistently lucky as I've been eating their smoked 1/2 rotisserie chicken for years and was only 'disappointed once in all that time! THIS CHICKEN kills it!!! Whenever we return from Florida (vacay) we head directly for Smoken Dudes for the smoked chicken, hush puppies and mashed potatoes (YUM YUM )

  • Leslie H.

It was ok, service was ok. But it ain't Texas BBQ, brisket was too lean, no mesquite flavor (or any flavor), but if you don't know the real thing it would be ok.

  • Aaron D.

Ate there once. I love bbq, but this place stinks. Dry as a tire brisket on a soggy bun is what I had. Tasteless and cold when I picked it up. Might try again since it's pretty much the only bbq around, but I'm not very hopeful.
