Year round Rita's water ice, what could be better? Inside of the Neshaminy Mall, you can get your Rita's Italian ice, which is what they are known for in many different flavors. Hubby loves the Italian ice and he often picks up some Rita's Italian ice in the grocery store. I have many favorites, but my all time love is the gelati, which is a blend of Italian ice and a flavored frozen custard. I love the tropical fruit flavors the most and this months specialty is pineapple. We have been to this Rita's location more times than I can count and it is the closest to our home. Year round, easy parking, plenty of seating.

OMG I absolutely love this place!! Their custard is so thick and rich, delicious and I'm totally in love with this place. I wish they have stores in Massachusetts.

It's funny how I feel like a little kid when I go to Rita's. There was a woman and two children in front of me and two employees, but only one of them was working for the longest time. I can't really judge since I wasn't there the whole day but it seems like you rest after the customers are gone. While she was preparing everything, he got off the stool and rang up the family's purchases. Then, he got my cherry water ice. (In Dayton, Ohio, I told them I wanted a "water ice" and I had to explain what "water" is. It's no wonder the name there is Rita's Italian Ice. They didn't like the way I said Italian, either! :-D) In any case, it tasted so good, like I was 5 years old all over again. I think my tongue is still red. Oh, well.

I don't know what all the amazing hype about this place is. I had Rita's several times throughout my stay in Philly and it was just about average. I don't think there's anything super special about it, but it's good. The italian shaved ice by itself is definitely unique, but not super amazing. The blendini was solid (but tasted kinda like a McFlurry, which is a lot cheaper). I also had the gelatti, but it wasn't that amazing either. The custard was really creamy and good. That was probably the best part of the water ice. I would definitely encourage you to try it out if you're visiting Philly though.

OK, let me start out by saying that I just deleted a 5 star rating for this Rita's. The reason I did this was because I had rated the wrong Rita's. I would like to start by saying not all Rita's are the same price. This one is the most expensive one I have found in the area. I also had an issue a year ago when Rita's were doing the punch card. The girl refused to accept the card because she said I had not eaten at that Rita's before so she would not honor the buy 10 get one free card. Since I was buying more then one, I thought it to be super lame she did not honor the card. If it didn't taste the same, this Rita's would get less stars. Let me give you some advice. Go to the Rita's on Bristol Road. You can walk there from the mall. You will get better service and even pay a lower price.
