On 99W, super busy but pretty easy to find! They make their burgers fresh, fries was delicious and tots was even better. Decent price and friendly service. You can't really go wrong here!

The burger was really good. We ordered the fish n chips. They were tasty but way more expensive than it should be. Get a burger and you can't go wrong.

Don't care if it's a hometown favorite. Expensive and nothing special. You can do better elsewhere.

  • Kim D.

Burgers were okay. The patties weren't very flavorful and tasted under-seasoned. The place is very clean and they have many toppings. They cook the burgers fairly quickly and you put the toppings on yourself. The location is easy to find and close to the freeway. The prices are reasonable and you are better off going here than spending $5 at the nearby McDonalds for a burger.

Very refreshing! Fresh burgers and friendly staff. A good value for your money as well!

Amazing fresh ground beef burger with all the fresh toppings you want. The BEST Tempura Batter Onion Rings EVER! They are battered in front of your very eyes and fried to an awesome deliciousness in fresh clean canola oil. I try to hold myself to one order per trip, but it's damn difficult. Yeh, it's humble digs but I'm not eating the walls and furniture. I'm in it for the burger and onion rings. My BFF Kerry loves the fish & chips but I can't get there as long as the burger and onion rings are so flippin awesome. The guy who said 5 guys is better must work for 5 guys. That's all I'm saying.

It's a basic burger. Like your basic burger from a bbq. The condiment bar is nice to have. I probably won't go back.

I've been planning on stopping here from years and we finally did when the traffic on a Friday night prohibited us from leaving town when we wanted to. We had planned to eat further down the road and not in our own back yard but this place made the best of a traffic situation. I got the regular hamburger as I thought the 1/2 lb would be way to much. The regular is just the right size and it comes up plain and you can pick the toppings from the condiment bar. A nice touch everything you could imagine putting on a burger is there. The fries are more like a steak fry, very tasty and just the right amount. They have all the sodas there and you can order iced tea they have to pour that from behind the counter. I didn't know about the frequent visitor card but I will check that out on my return. I would definitely stop back in again.

Small town burger joint feel :) Clean and quiet with friendly folks that welcome you, genuinely, when you walk in. I waited for my third visit to write a review and this wonderful little place doesn't disappoint! I've tried three different burgers (signature, bacon-cheese, basic hamburger) and they all had that distinct, clean/fresh taste that a quality burger should have. Wow, what a treat...again! Nothing fancy (thank God!), just a damn good burger.

  • Mike M.

Burgers are obviously frozen and bland as hell. But as the sign boasts, they got Root Beer! Lol! Five Guys is 1000% better than this place.

Great food had a bacon cheese burger and wow it was awesome they use fresh ingredients and it shows just perfect lunch

  • Lance C.

Food: the burger was good, cooked to perfection and juicy. Fries were also cooked well, I got them hot. Service: not much service going on here. You put what you want on your burger yourself. I like that concept. Price: it was fairly priced for a burger joint.

    (4)
  • Saul R.

Not a fan. The bad: I ordered a BBQ sandwich, but the meat had a refrigerator-stale flavor. The good: The dressing bar, however humble, was rather impressive for a small hamburger shop. Not gone back since, I am afraid.

I have lived near this place for years but just tried it a few months ago. Both times I went there, the restaurant was completely empty, but clean. The two people behind the counter were both very friendly and helpful. Service was very fast considering they make everything fresh to order. You get to build your own burger and the toppings were surprisingly fresh for being so late in the day. They probably do have giant burgers but we just ordered the regular sized ones. I commented on how delicious the burger was and they told me they grind their own hamburger fresh every day. The fries were very good too! Parking was a little bit confusing because the sign is at the edge of the lot, so if you aren't paying close attention it's easy to pass by the entrance. The decor is dated but cute. It reminds me a little bit of the old Farrells ice cream parlour. I will definitely be back!

  • Tiffany T.

To be honest the burger meat is on the bland side but they have this thick perfectly melted slice of American cheese on top of their burgers that makes it all worth while. And they have a topping bar where you can add tomato, onion, lettuce and a variety of sauces. And they have this crispy tator tots with soft potato inside which are also good. The milkshakes are ok too. Better then McDonalds and most fast food. The restaurant is clean. The parking lot is a bit of a pain to park in,

Sending time this week with my daughter and saw this place looked at trip advisor so I stopped in for a burger nothing to write home about. Asked for a chili cheese burger when they brought it to me there was so.much chili you couldn't see the burger. I was expecting more like a five guys burger. Staff was friendly.

A really good simple hamburger joint with good fresh toppings that you put on yourself.

Loves me some Giant Burger!!! They are so great here, #burgerfans. Your own extras bar to add to. When I think of #burgers, I think of George! They have a frequent user card too folks!!! Close to everything in Tigard and Lake Oswego

Solid 3 stars I will say. First off, the hamburgers are not that giant. Actually, they are normal in size. Put a crap ton of toppings on it like I typically do and it could end up more towards the giant side perhaps. My order today: Cheeseburger...add fried egg, add ham. It's an extra .85 to add anything to your burger. Also ordered some fries. Meal cost $8.80. A bit spendy if you ask me. For nearly the same price I could go to a sit down restaurant. PROS: Staff is super friendly and kind. You can tell they know each of the regulars. Toppings: put on your own....woo hoo! Pickles, lettuce, salsa, jalapenos, tomato, onion, and plenty of sauces - they obviously have mayo, ketchup, and mustard, but they also have their spicy sauce, and a sweet thousand island type. Definitely a winner. Especially spicy sauce for your fries! All in all the food is good. Not greasy, decent quality. Extra parking in the back is convenient. Fries were crispy and pretty tasty. CONS: If you're looking for some mondo-hamburger, you may not find it here. Burger is so-so. I've had better, I've had worse. Would be nice if the prices weren't so high or if they had better deals. Adding items like onion rings or sweet potato fries will set you back an additional $3 or so. If you are in the mood for a burger though it's good enough. I would recommend trying it out.

    (3)
  • Emily S.

It was OK. They make it to order and let you put your own toppings on it. Nothing to rave about. Over priced for what it is.

    (3)
  • Christopher A.

Tasty burgers, great size for the price. Super friendly staff and the place was clean and comfortable. Exactly what you would want from a classic burger joint. We will definitely be back!

    (4)
  • Ryan D.

Tasty and fresh home style burgers. You add the condiments yourself. The burger sauce is great. Friendly staff!

    (4)
  • Audrea H.

Burgers are yummy. It's really nice to have a condiment bar so you can add whatever fixings you like. Everything seemed reasonably priced too. Best thing are the owners, they are friendly and really make you fell like they appreciate your business. Great little "mom & pop" place.

    (4)
  • Martin F.

These are good, honest burgers. They fix the basic burger to your specifications (cheese, bacon, etc) and then have a "fixings bar" that you can use to add your condiments and veggies. The place is tough to find parking at, which is both a good sign (others like the place) and a bad sign (hard to park).

    (3)
  • Scott W.

Fresh meat, good fries. Topping bar for your burger. Not bad, but I think I was expecting more. Burger isn't that big for being "Giant". Probably will head elsewhere if I want a burger, as there are better places closer to where I live.

  • Nick H.

I love relish bars. I can just fix it my owndamnself. When I was a child, lots of places had relish bars. Then, during the turbulent period known as the 60's Darth Vader invented McDonald's, thus enslaving the world. No more relish bars. I think. Then, out of the ashes (as it were)..... The burgers are not really all that giant but they're of a pretty good quality. You pay a bit extra for things like cheese, grilled mushrooms, etc. It's what you choose to add to it at the bar that can move it into the land of giants ( oh, pardon me; THE LAND OF GIANTS). I have always enjoyed being in control of my own add-ons. Little bit of this, that, 8 tidbits of onion, pickle slice in each quadrant, centered tomato slice and SHAZAM! The perfect burger ( for me, anyhow.....). Oh, you don't like onions? Here, let me just flick them off. FIN

    (3)
  • Jyn M.

Not our favorite place to eat. The hamburgers were bland and overcooked and we really felt like the cooks were disconnected from what a hamburger should taste like? Not sure if we just went on a bad day, but we haven't felt the need to go back.

    (2)
  • Michael J.

Yes, as some reviewers have mentioned below, the burgers here aren't truly "giant". George's probably started calling their burgers that before every American restaurant turned its basic portion size into "Lard Ass Special - and oh, did you want to mcdouble that?" Look, I'm not the food police or anything, I'll give into my grease/fat/sugar urges plenty of times. But hey, you can splurge without throwing down 2 days worth of calories and 3 days worth of saturated fat during one lunch, right? There's no reason in the world a George's burger and fries is more than anyone needs even for a massive pig out session. The main thing I'm looking for at a greasy spoon burger joint isn't how much more grub I can shovel into my gut - it's something delicious to eat. Because a great "normal size" burger is far more satisfying when I have that urge than a gigantic triple patty piece of junk.. And George's has great quality. I'm not saying this is a healthy meal, it obviously isn't. But when I get that craving I can go get a fantastic burger at George's, plus some very good sides, and a condiment bar that allows you to get your burger to your exact taste. Oh, and for those who want more, I noticed the menu says you can get an extra patty. So problem solved! I mean with you satisfying your grotesque appetite, not with avoiding your impending heart attack(s). Bottom line, this is an excellent burger restaurant - and with great shakes as well. See, I told you I wasn't the food police!

Divey place, but clean. SUPER NICE people. The burgers were really good, but we thought over priced for what you got.

    (3)
  • Ric B.

I love going to this place! The burgers are very juicy and the add ons are awesome! The flavor is great and you have unlimited veggies to add to your burger! You pretty much craft the burger to your liking, it's great!

    (4)
  • Chris H.

Nothing too special. I wasn't found of the burger. The burger was just - Meh - . I had their number four that was their "big" burger. It wasn't that big. Matter of fact it was roughly the same size as the ones you get at McDonalds. and I had no idea it came with mushrooms. I had to scrape then off hit I still had the aftertaste. The meat was very bland and had no flavor. You do get to put on your own toppings. That can be good or it could be bad. Depending on how long that stuff has been sitting out, if any Flys landed on it or people who use their hands and not the tongs. Over all its just an low key local owned burger joint Thays nothing to special. I won't be back though.

Let's get down to it. Good meat. Good sides. Good local spot. Wasnt the best I ever had, but definitely worth it to try. I'd definitely go back. The best in the area!

My husband and I stop at George' about twice a month. Best hamburgers in town!! The owners are wonderful and the restaurant is bright and clean. The prices are reasonable also.

    (5)
  • Ramona H.

There giant burger is only 1/3lb burger My Burger tasted like soap the onion rings were greasy the topping bar had the basics and the pickles were dried out the iced tea was instant and thick Not to mention that 3 burgers and fries cost me $40 I would not advise eating here

    (1)
  • Dan R.

the burgers are some of the best around fries are kind of weak but for sure go there for the burgers

    (5)
  • Carl B.

Bottom Line at the top: Good burgers the way YOU want them, the old fashioned way. Many people are talking about how these burgers are not giant, and while they are using a standard portion for there basis it still is larger then what you are getting for a patty from a general fast food joint. When you order extras you get a lot of extra, the mushrooms they put on top of one order were crazy, all the fresh red tomato slices you wish and as much relish as you relish :P The prices are right between what you would find at fast food and a sit down restaurant. Our order for 3 people: 3 cheeseburgers(standard and a Big George), frys/tots, and milkshakes came to 30 bucks. Now looking at a top level fast food burger is mid 4 buck range shakes 3 bucks and frys around 2 it looks like we have nearly a tie and I would rather get a burger while supporting a local place when close to Georges

    (3)
  • Josh P.

Good, simple, sizable yet inexpensive burgers. Charming burger-joint atmosphere. Friendly staff. Nice bar of condiments and burger fixings enables you to deck your burger out as you see fit.

    (4)
  • Erica A.

Cost 24.00 for me and my kid to have a burger and some fries.... Not very good prices for what you get I dunno what's so giant about them at all...the food does taste good but I wouldn't go back..... I'd rather go to red robin you get more fries and the burgers are better sized for the money the only thing I liked was getting to put on my own toppings

    (2)
  • Tommy W.

Service here is consistently friendly. Plan on a 5-10 minute wait for your order, unless it's busy. They keep the place clean and the toppings fresh, but the burgers aren't any more 'giant' than you can find at other places. Their topping bar allows you to dress your burger up your way, but it seems like the beef and buns could use some tweaking. Not a lot of flavor until you start plopping on the toppings.

I hit this place for lunch because I had been meaning to try it for years, and since I was in the area, that's exactly what we did. I ordered the Big George with a fried egg and onion rings, while my wife had the Big George with fries. Now, the Big George is a 1/3 pound patty (nothing really GIANT about that), cheese, bacon, grilled onions and grilled mushrooms. The burgers were perfectly cooked, a lot of melted cheese, and more grilled mushrooms than I have received at MANY other places over the years. The fries were middle of the road, nothing special, and the onion rings were good. It was a little expensive, but to me I really don't care about cost. I would rather spend more money and support a locally owned little guy restaurant than a chain ANY day of the week. Overall, if I am in the area, and want a good burger, I will definitely go back. If in the mood for a good burger, there is at least a couple places with better burgers between my home and here. The most important thing to take away from this review is that yes, I will go back.

    (3)
  • Tim P.

George's makes a good burger and I would give them four stars but the owners do not know the difference between mayonnaise and Miracle Whip. I've asked if they have mayo and they point to the squeeze bottle full of that sweet salad dressing.

    (2)
  • Rish I.

Good burgers, but the name is deceiving, the burgers are NOT giant but good. I also liked the relish bar, everything was fresh!

    (4)
  • Kip L.

I keep trying this place thinking it will be better but the fact of the matter is that it is just an overpriced average burger served in a poorly maintained restaurant. They are not giant although the hot dogs are strangely larger than they need to be. It's served cut down the center and grilled before deposited in a not-quite=large-enough bun. If you have kids that like hot dogs, make sure you explain this to them. I couldn't get my kid to finish his. Also, I find it highly annoying that there are restaurants which still have "no refill" policies. Particularly those with self-service soda dispensers. There is no "iced tea" option and the iced tea that they have is brewed in the coffee maker and poured over ice, on-demand. Overall, it has the feeling that management is cutting corners and that makes me nervous in a restaurant with mayo, lettuce, and tomatoes left out at room temperature.

  • Britta R.

Amazing spot! I live in the area, but had never visited George's Giant Hamburgers until today. I don't eat beef, and had the veggie burger with a fried egg and cheese. You can add your own toppings (including jalapenos - yum!), and they have great fries. The food is delicious, and the service was also most excellent. Will definitely be back!

    (5)
  • Sam H.

Ugh, I feel sick... Yet, I have no regrets. The burger was great. It's just a good old fashioned fat burger. The burger was great, and I plan to go back someday... when I feel like testing my instestinal fortitude once again. To sum it up: Great taste Great atmosphere Great stomach distrubance

There are several ways George's could improve: 1) Recliners at every table. You will want a nap when you're done anyway, so they really could help out by providing recliners. 2) Opening another location closer to my house. 3) Uh, I got nothing. Why waste time debating about the best burger around? It's not some chain *coughfiveguyscough*, it's George's. Burgers are, in fact, giant but nothing is sacrificed. That's all beef, juicy and flavorful and none of that frozen taste. I get the bacon cheeseburger and the bacon is thick but well done and crisp the way it should be. Cheese is, I think, American, and perfectly melted. You add your own condiments from the condiment bar. The fries are in fact not terribly awesome....they're okay, hot and fresh but unremarkable. Once I finish the burger I usually don't have much room left for fries anyway. Interior is clean, bright and cheerful. Service is friendly and quick. Don't let the location in a north Tigard mini-strip mall fool you - this is the burger you've been looking for.

  • Justin R.

I have been driving past this place for 7 months and finally took the plunge and tried it out. I was not disappointed. I had the Big George minus mushrooms. The grilled onions were great. The build your own bar was also a bonus. Prices were great! Two burgers, shared fries, one soda and one shake was better then I thought and got a very sizable portion. If you are in the area and want a burger you need to check it out.

I want to give four stars, but I can't. It's not because the food, more like the price of it. I think this place charged a bit too much for standard casual American food. $5.50 for a Cheeseburger (and it's just a regular size, their burgers are not giants...) & $4.50 for a Spam burger was a bit high. I like their condiments and toppings station, but there's nothing special there. It's just standard ketchup, mayo, burger sauce (which was a bit too sweet for me), lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles, jalapenos, and salsa. Our food tasted good. Nothing special. We also got a small size of Tater tots and it was delicious. Another thing that was kinda a bummer, they don't have hot sauce. Not even Tabasco or Tapatio. I like to mix my ketchup with tabasco or other type of hot sauce, but I couldn't do it George's. I might come back here, but probably not for a while. There are other places with the same quality of burgers but lower prices around SW Portland/Tigard area.

Y'know, you can't go wrong here, same as Fuddrucker's.. Main thing for me is, My passed-on Mom REALLY liked the genuine taste of this place. It IS good! And you get it just as you like it.. They are sincere folks and they WANT you to be happy.. The ONLY thing lacking is that they may have never experienced the slightly greasy, sloppy, running down your elbows "Burrr-GARE" experience that makes we "O"mericans go wild... HOWEVER, time after time, when you ask if we "Tigardians" want a burger, we wil pretty much always say "George's", even tho something is missing!! You order your burg, then load it overboard with great lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, and anything ELSE you may find on their cornucopia of delights available to you, just like "Fudd's".. For some reason I still find it more alluring than Fuddplucker's.. Not sure why, cuz I like Fudd's peanuts and the fact I can get Beef, Turkey, Elk, maybe even YAK there... And besides there is always Girls at Fuddruckers... At George's, most likely, you get only Cable Guys... Oh well, there you have it..... I'll just hafta make do WITHOUT the Yak....

How have I not reviewed this place yet? I'll be the first to say that the burgers are not huge and they are a little overpriced, so you've been warned. Still, I like this restaurant quite a bit and I'll be tossing 4 stars its way regardless of the failings. My favorite burger is the Hula Hula as it comes with pineapple and a bbq suace but the Big George is also very tasty. I've been here many times and will probably be back many more, it is safe to say that I am a fan.

  • Avid C.

Great burgers, excellent service. Came here twice now a year apart from each other and the burger is as good as I remember it. The meat is fresh and melt in your mouth, not like the frozen patties in most places. Love their bacon burger!!!

  • Helen W.

Underwhelmed on all fronts. Won't try again.

    (2)
  • Travis H.

Good burgers! The prices are fair for burgers, but was shocked that it cost $4.95 for a ham/ white bread sandwich for our 5 year-old daughter.

    (4)
  • Seth C.

The hamburgers were fresh and juicy, and I love the fact that you can put your own toppings on them. My eight year-old son gobbled his hamburger down faster than I've ever seen him eat. The fries were unexceptional. That's the only reason I gave this four and not five stars. Why would anyone go to a chain like Red Robin or Fudruckers and pay several dollars more for a lower quality hamburger?

    (4)
  • Jack G.

Burger was great. Fries could be better. Overall it was a nice experience. It's HOT off the grill so watch out.

  • Leah H.

"Average" is a fairly effective adjective to describe GGH. From the burger to the frozen fries and rings to the building, you can expect a pretty average experience here. But hey. That isn't always so bad. Sometimes you just want to throw a burger down your food hole. And GGH is good for that. "Giant" on the other hand is not such a good descriptor. The burger is not giant. The parking lot is not giant. And as much as other Yelpers seem to disagree, the prices are not giant either. It may seem steep compared to the overwhelming fast food establishments dotting Highway 99. But I don't eat at those places and what they serve certainly cannot be categorized as food. What does stand out about GGH is the condiment bar. The burgers come plain as Jane and you get the authority to dress her up as you see fit. And while I've only ever gotten take out from here, the dining space always looks clean. I've also never seen more then 2 other people inside...so it is entirely possible that the employees/owners just have a lot of time to vacuum and wipe tables.

  • Chris M.

Good burgers, fair pricing. The condiments bar is awesome. My favorite I the hula burger, pineapple, bacon, and cheese. They just started charging .25 cents for drink refills which is kinda irritating. Actually, I really hate that they charge 25 cents for drink refills. That has got to go. It is just downright disrespectful and annoying. If your drink costs have gone up that much, then charge more for the drink, don't nickel and dime your customers. Other than that, the burgers are great, fries are nothing to write home about and the condiment bar is totally awesome!

  • A C.

The empty restaurant was stuffy upon entry. I asked for no mayo or cheese. No one was behind me. The cashier still managed to give me a cheeseburger. My boyfriend confirmed I had said no cheese. The cashier took the burger away, scraped the goo off and returned the gooy cheese burger. My boyfriend hates confrontation and particularly when I do it, since he was buying, I just put up with the vomit smelling burger, gagging as I ate. There was no one in the restaurant. I spoke clearly. They got my order wrong and had the nerve to reserve the food with the unrequested residue. Yuck!

    (1)
  • Mc G N.

Sign does say GIANT. Not GOURMET. That said, 6$ for a cafeteria grade burger makes me wonder, what IS in a fast food burger for 99 cents? They are locally owned. They need to bump up flavor. the food was hot and freshly prepared. It was nothing stellar. I would rather cook my own than go here. That's all I got.

    (2)
  • Sev K.

What a RIP OFF. Over $16 dollars for two low grade hamburgers and two drinks (ordered seperately) NO fries. The place looked like it could be a gem from the outside and inside.. but the $6.90 something price tag for the giant burger (which was the size of a regular burger) was beyond wrong. The burgers came out and came with a side of disappointment. Then they have the nerve to make you go up and put your own condiments on it because they're too lazy to do it themselfs. They closed at 8pm but around 7:25 they started cleaning and gave us the feeling of "get out now." I only give them one star because the burgers tasted fine. After we were done we drove east a few miles and went to a Taco Bell that was decorated inside and out like a Taco Bell from the 90's. It was great. So. . . . SAVE YOUR MONEY GO TO TACO BELL.

  • Well-Traveled I.

I always wanted to go here; I do the park-and-ride and my bus passes by this place twice a day. Coworkers always had positive things to say, so when I was gaming with my buddies the other night (deja vu except the other time we went to Giant in LO), we decided to try this place out. First off, the parking lot is small and with 99 traffic ripping by, be careful. On to the place and food... George's was VERY clean. Staff wasn't overly friendly but they weren't grumpy; I think efficient is the term I'd use. I was worried about how the burger would taste as you assemble the condiments yourself, but no worries, everything is VERY fresh and it's not like the person behind the counter wouldn't do the same thing. Ordered the bacon cheeseburger; patty was huge and the meat was fresh. The food is actually brought to your table and then you go and "dress" it. I put lettuce and tomato on my burger and picked-up two crispy pickles to boot. I ordered the small fries, which were quite tasty, and sampled my friend's sweet potato fries, which were tasty, but if I'm going to eat fries (and have to run them off the next day), I'll always try the "regular" fries first. Fountain soda was nice and sweet; these days, some places cannot get the mixtures right. The only complaint I have is the price. For a regular drink, bacon cheeseburger, and small fries, I paid $9 and change. I think, in comparison to Burgerville, the big B would win - but the Burgerville likes to put their locations in odd places to say the least and this is more accessible. However, given the fact the meat is ground daily and I'm not a big fan of eating out a lot - and when I do, I prefer local. McD's isn't too far behind in price these days, so while I was slightly shocked about the prices, I would rather pay for a good burger here than for a hockey puck at McDonald's with no flavor that results in multiple trips to "the office".

George's Generic Burgers. Or maybe George's Overrated Burgers. How bout George's Ordinary Burgers??? Yeah, that's it. After about two years since my first ordinary encounter with George's, I decided to try them again (no charity on my part, I had just been having a major burger jones for about 3 days.) Same place, same burger, same result. A decent burger. Certainly not "giant" by any means. Not that a monstrous burger is required to be good but if it is part of your name, it should be bigger than your average gourmet burger. If I walk in 7-11 to get a Big Gulp and they hand me a 12 oz cup, well, you get my point. To the meat of the issue - the burger just had no pizazz. I savored every chew, moved it around my mouth, salted, salted more, changed sauces, even turned it over and took a bite and still, ordinary. I'm OK with looking at myself to take my share of the blame, and since this place leaves the condiments and accessories to the customer, I surely could cut them some slack. However (you knew that was coming), I like a restaurant that says "we know what tastes good and what doesn't - here, eat this, you'll love it!) I mean, if I go into 7-11 and order...oh, already been there. Anyway, I tried a couple options and sauce, lettuce and tomato don't ultimately separate the good for the average - it is the meat. At least there were the fries, right. Right, if you like em bland and just slightly undercooked. Well Jorge, ya had your chance. If you were priced a little more reasonably, I'd go in with tempered expectations and not complain. But until that happens, I'm looking elsewhere for my Burgerlust.

We were hungry sitting in traffic on Highway 99 trying to get home from the beach. My kids were starting to get snippy as I passed by several fast-food joints, but I was still on vacation, dang it, and felt like something different. I'd never heard of George's, but the sign said "Giant" and "fresh ground" and that was good enough to get me to pull over. The place is nothing fancy, inside or out, but it is bright and clean and impressed me right away with the fresh produce in the condiment bar. The counter service was quick and friendly, and our burgers were promptly brought out to our table. I got the George's Special, with bacon and cheese and sautéed onions and mushrooms. The bun comes plain but nicely toasted. We commenced what I assume is the house ritual, standing up simultaneously to carry our burgers over to the condiment bar. I loaded up mine with fresh tomato, lettuce, onion, sweet relish and burger sauce. It got pretty quiet at our table as we took our first bites. We were hungry, and now we were happy. A simple meal of burgers and fries was made special with good, fresh ingredients. I thoroughly enjoyed my Special, but next time I think I'd opt for just bacon and Swiss cheese. And maybe a fried egg. The only thing I didn't love was the American cheese, which melted nicely but tasted a little too processed to me. I would note that the burgers aren't exactly "Giant" in the Man vs. Food sense, or compared to, say, Earthquakes in Puyallup. If I were really hungry, I'd consider a second patty. That would be twice as good.

Bollocks to Fuddruckers, try a good local joint - George's Giant Hamburgers - instead. I've only been once, but I thought it was a tasty, flavorful burger and loved the array of fixin's you can put on it. (Fuddruckers style). I've had some of the big time gourmet burgers in PDX and, of course, they're awesome, but if you want a damn tasty burger, made your way, and fast...this spot is worth a stop. No these are not Man vs. Food burgers (in spire of the "Giant" tag), but a normal person will be filled up just fine, especially for the relatively low price. Solid spot, give it a try. My only beef (terrible pun) was that the fries were a little soft for my liking. I just prefer 'em a little crispier (and probably worse for me) is all, but some folks probably like a more "natural" fry.

My 10 year old said this place was good so I went. Boy am I glad I did that. Fresh beef, fresh veggies (all you want & make yourself :) always win me over). The meat was juicy and the whole thing didn't take forever.

Good, hot, freshly cooked burger. My biggest beef is the price for a 1/3 lb (precooked) burger. I got one with grilled onions, bacon, and cheese and it was $7.00, without fries or a drink. I guess this is more and more the rule and not the exception anymore. For the price I hope the beef is hormone-free and grain fed, but somehow I highly doubt it. I think Yelp needs to adjust the number of $'s on their page to two of them.

The food was fresh and tasty, the prices are good and the atomosphere feels a little like a diner. My wife and I went here before going to the Cinemas right behind this place. and the sweet potato fires are yummy.

If you are in the Tigard area and want a good burger this is the place to go. Let me explain what I mean by a good burger. The burger comes to you completely unmolested and fresh off the grill open faced ready to make the way YOU want it. The vegetables and toppings are always fresh and plentiful and you are free to add how ever much you want of various items (pickles, tomatoes, peppers, sauces etc.). The prices are a little higher that carls Jr or Burger king, sure... but you get what you pay for. You will pay 9 dollars and change for a cheeseburger , large fries and a coke. But I promise, it is worth it if you are craving a cheese burger YOU like instead of a cookie cutter paint by number fast food chain style. The portions on the fries are big, and more than adequate. I think the best feature is the vegetable/topping bar. There's something to be said for being able to make your burger the way you really want it. The parking can be tricky during mid day/rush hour times, but they make up for that in a friendly inviting environment. regular customers are greeted by first name and a smile. Give this place a try if you want a good old fashioned hamburger minus the assembly line taste. It is definitely worth it!

I eat here semi-regularly, about every two weeks or so. I recommend the Big George, which is topped with cheese, bacon, caramelized onion, and fried shrooms. I like that they grind fresh beef daily, have reasonable portions, and excellent onion rings! The burgers aren't huge, they're the perfect size.

Within the last week I went to both George's and Burgerville. I have to say that although both places are over priced George's was a better burger. It had better flavor, were bigger, and I also really liked the condiment bar. No one ever gets it right so it is just better I do it myself. I really wanted onion rings but couldn't bring myself to spend $3.55 more on onion rings. The tots I got were perfectly cooked though(really crispy but not burnt). I read others reviews that mentioned no refills and I have to say I saw nothing pertaining to that policy. The owners were out cleaning tables as soon as they were cleared and they were really friendly. My reason for four stars was due the the price of sides and the fact that there was no cold ketchup (which really bugs me). I will go here again and recommend it to others.

Meh is right. Not impressed, and I was really hoping to like this place. The meat did seem fresh, so they have that going for them, but I thought it was over seasoned and slightly reminiscent of taco seasoning for some reason, don't ask me why. I'm sure it's just Lawry's or an equivalent. Also, I felt the cheese & um, it was super rubbery. My biggest issue, though, was the fries. Not good at all... tasted like they'd been swimming in the grease for way too long, not very crispy. To make it worse, I couldn't drown it out with KETCHUP because they do SOMETHING weird to their ketchup. Maybe it's a weird brand, or maybe it is "stretched" with applesauce or something (like they used to do in grade school), but the ketchup definitely tasted different than your standard Heinz or Hunt's. It was just lacking in tanginess, which is what I want in a ketchup. It is relatively inexpensive, though, so I'm not too upset. At least I know I'm not missing out now.

I give this place 4 stars. I also give this place 5 "Z's". What the hell are "Z's"? That's my food -coma-quotient. This place will put you down. Prepare to be wholly and completely unproductive the rest of your day. Prepare to test your skills napping in a seated position in front of the computer monitor. Prepare for food narcolepsy. George's Giant Hamburgers serves up a solid, run of the mill burger. Its fresh, cooked to order, and comes with free access to a so-so condiment bar. Burgers are average sized. Prices are comparable to Giant Burger in Lake Oswego. If you get the Big George ... oooh wee ... its time for a nap. Bacon, fried egg, cheese, grilled onions and shrooms. Just don't forget your blankey.

Pretty average burger, the main things that killed it for me was the very plain buns, and the fast food style american cheese that they put on it, that just ruined it for me personally. I would have preferred anything other than that garbage. On a side note, they had pretty tasty bacon.

Lots of options, and generally this place is going to beat any chain fast food, but it's not that much better. Basically if you're looking for an alternative, and want to spend a little more money someplace locally owned I'd totally recommend it. Are there better burger joints in the Portland area? Totally. But this place isn't bad!

Best burger experience in Portland (at least for me.) Fresh ground burger, full half pound, all kinds of goooooood toppings, finish it yourself. I asked the manager of my Trader Joe's where was the best burger nearby, and he said "we all go to George's Giant Hamburgers." It wasn't exactly nearby. I drove 14 miles round trip to try it. But he was totally right. I don't know how they do it, but every mouthful is full of flavor! WARNING.... closes at 8pm on weeknights.

Ana K's review left me confused as I've eaten here plenty of times on my way back from Eugene on the 5. They don't charge you extra for lettuce and tomato...it's an open condiment bar??? Anyway, it is a fairly simple hamburger joint where they serve them up in red plastic baskets. You can add your own tomato, lettuce, sauce, onions & pickles. I go for the basic burger basket with either a soda or milk shake. The tables and chairs are bold colors, but other than that it is a simple design inside. Good speed of service, but the parking lot is a tad small and on a busy day, it can take a minute to cross the road to get into their lot. As far as where they are exactly? Look for the Subway and Starbucks across from the Fred Meyer's; once you spot them George's is right there.

Fresh ground meat, all the fixin's you could want nice toasty bun...that's what you get at Georges, just plain old fashioned good burger. You get your burger served to you with just meat (cheese or bacon if you want) and bun you get to put fresh toppings on it, and as much as you want! They have a selection other than burgers here, their grilled cheese is fabulous! They have turkey burgers, burgers with ham, grilled ham and cheese and don't forget the fries!!!!!! I ate here on my lunch at least once a week for several years, the cost is a little spendy but you pay for the quality of the meat when you get something here rather than got to McDonald's or Burger King up the street. I love George's, don't work closeby anymore so I can't go here but I do love it and you should try it if you are in the area.

Good burgers for a good price. All the fixings you want in a condiment and garnishment bar. I like the hula burger. It's a bit confusing as they will bring your burger and then you get up to add your fixings... why not just call you up when your burger is ready?

If the joint called itself "George's Standard Unsurprisingly-Sized Hamburgers," then the tone would be set. These are plain, wholeheartedly-typical burgers. But sorry to break it to you, Don Quixote --they ain't giants. They are kinda priced like giants, so there's also that to consider. Perplexing hours --burgers being consumed for both lunch AND dinner where I'm from. Good variety, but substandard flavor and moisture to the patties. Friendly folks, but just can't recommend this.

I like this place - burgers are good, not too crowded. Parking is awful (couple spots in front, rest on dirt in back). It's what you'd expect - a local hamburger joint.

I have to be honest this place is delicious, but the selection is limited to old classic burger bar with NO shakes. George is great, the meat is great and he cooks to order. The place is clean and is the closest good burger to Skyline Burger Bar on this West side of town anymore. Easy to park and it is shady so you can relax and read the newspaper. Condiments are yours to create in your own manner which is nice as there are 6 or 7 different sauces to choose from. Yummy!

Fast service, hot food and awesome shakes. I had the big George minus the mushrooms, tater tots and a strawberry milkshake. The shake had fresh strawberries, the burger was made with fresh ground beef and I like that you put on the fixings yourself.

I got a great burger and a really overpriced shake. $3.35 for a shake made with soft serve ice cream and one pump of chocolate syrup (what a ripoff). But the big george burger was very good.

Too expensive! A kid's burger the same size as a McDonalds one costs $3.50, $4 with cheese, even more for extras such as lettuce and tomato! I spent $9 here on two kids cheeseburgers and a small fountain drink. Side items look to be more reasonably price, but the servings looked rather small, but none of the burgers looked THAT big. I'd take Wendy's or Burger King ANY day. Interior was rather nice though - old, classic burger joint. I really wanted to like this place.

here's a mental note: make sure you know what you want before walking in,because the girl standing at the register looks like she's tired of waiting for you. ok so the menu has the basics : hamburger, cheeseburger, bacon hamburger, bacon cheeseburger, but they also have pineapple burger, george's special (with grilled onions and mushroooms) and for the non-beefy people turkey burger, fish burger, veggie burger, hot dogs, and chicken stuff. you can add grilled onions or grilled mushrooms for extra. they also have shakes, and smoothies, french fries, onions rings and tator tots. i saw the girl making a strawberry shake, all she did was pump a few squirts of strawberry syrup into the ice cream, so i didn't feel that i missed out on the shake. anyway, so i walk in, girl is standing behind the register. she stares at me, i stare at her... normally the worker greets the customer, but in this case i said hi first, she said hi and continued to stare. omg i dont even know what i want at this point and shes still staring at me. so quickly i order the george special for the bf i look at her she's still staring at me while pressing a button. ok.. so i take a quick glance at the menu and order a bacon cheese burger, she is still staring at me and presses another button while doing so. she's still staring at me, so i say "oh yeah and french fries, and a drink" she still staring at me while pressing two buttons and says "for here or to-go?" wow she can talk! anyway, just order your burger, the condiments are next to the register so you dress up your burger as you like. i dont know what a great burger tastes like, but the burger here was pretty big... i had a hard time taking a bite out of it because of all the extra tomatoes, lettuce, onions and pickles. george, who ever you are, i will be back and ready to order.

Why isn't this place already here? The freshest and tastiest hamburgers, they fill you up and don't disappoint. They have chicken strips and very good fries. I'm left speechless at how to describe this place, it's great, they are fast and they leave you wanting seconds! ^_^
