I love this place, I've been coming here since I was a little kid and it never disappoints

Fantastic service! The staff is always friendly and fun to banter with. Ordering out is always good too! I can honestly say everything I've tried from them was delicious, even the things I didn't think id like.

We had hit and miss reviews from the whole group who ate here, so it averaged out to be a three star rating. I thought that the food was decent for fast food type Mexican food. The biggest complaint from the group was that the salsa was more like pico than a blended salsa for the chips, they served the salsa in small containers, for the chips, making it almost impossible to get the super chunky salsa out to eat without making a mess. I'd say that this place was good, but not something to write home about.

Very underwhelming experience. Thought I'd mix it up a bit and try the Super Nachos with Carne Asada. For $8 of nachos, you'd expect a big mound. Portions were fairly small I thought for the price. Very little flavor in the toppings. Carne Asada was bland and just a small amount. The top layer had lots of cheese, guac, sour cream, unions and tomatoes but everything underneath was bare. Service was poor. Had to ask for a water refill once and got room temperature water the second time. Their other food might be worthy of more than two stars but definitely not the Super Nachos.

Great. I'm vegan and there are many vegetarian options. I just ordered it with no cheese or sour cream. Great margaritas and good service. For a small town I was impressed! Be back for sure

Love this place! From the chips and salsa to the food and drinks (margaritas anyone?!) everything I've ever had here has been great! Service is fast, but they don't seem to mind if you just want to sit and hang out for a while even if you've finished eating. I've been to a few of the Ixtapa restaurants around and while I'm not sure if they are all under the same ownership, this one is definitely my favorite. Their dining areas are sort of split up, so even if it's really busy it never gets crazy loud in there and still feels surprisingly intimate.

Went in while it was pretty busy, so that might have been part of the issue. Service was spotty at best. Had our food before the drinks even showed up. No biggie. Had the chicken fajitas which had way too many vegetables and limited amount of chicken. The chicken was dry and bland tasting. My son said his bean burrito was ok Grew up in an area where there was a lot of really good mexican restaurants so maybe just expect more . Wouldn't make a special trip here to drop 50 bucks for a family meal. Maybe their booze is good ?

Solid. I Always get what I expect, and have never left disappointed. Great place to take the family for good service and food. Love the margaritas. I hope this place stays in business for another 20.

Chips and salsa were delicious. Split the chile verde wet burrito and cheese enchilada combination plate. Everything was very, very good. Server was friendly and attentive. Will definitely be back on any trips through this area

Ixtapa has been in Stayton for as long as I can remember. I know that it has been here at least 20 years. That is a lot of staying power for a place in Stayton. There are only two other eateries that have been in Stayton longer: Dairy Queen and A&W. So to say that Ixtapa is good is not saying enough. The best, and I do mean BEST feature of this establishment is the speed with which your food arrives. As soon as you sit down, you are greeted with water, chips and salsa and your server is there to take your drink order. Use the time between the drink order and the servers return to decide what you would like to eat, because when they return with your drinks, they are going to want to take your order. On my visit yesterday, I ordered the Chalupa with ground beef. I had barely poured my beer when the food arrived. It was well prepared, hot, and oh so tasty. A full meal can be ordered and consumed in less than 30 mimutes, with enough left over for lunch! Price point is right on the money with this restaurant, and the portions are generous. This is your only choice for authentic sit down mexican food in Stayton

I have ate here a number of times over the years and just remembered, after having lunch there today with an account, I forgot to write a review on it so here we go,,,,,,,,,,, Every time I have been there, including today, you are greeted quickly and seated in the same fashion. Once seated, you get the customary chips and salsa. The chips and salsa here are very good, probably one of my favorites. Today I had the Chili Colorado Burrito with rice and beans and it was spot on. Beef was cooked to perfection and sauce was tasty. Had the iced tea and it had great flavor, not some watered down mess. Service was first class. This Ixtapa is better than the one in Philomath which I have ate at a number of times also. Not bad grub at all for Mexi-American style food.

Although Stayton is small without a lot of places for a sit down meal, Ixtapa is always the place to go. Great, fast food. Their rice is my all time favorite and I often just get a side of it to go. If you're in the area, give it a shot. It make look janky but you won't be disappointed.

One of my favorite places to eat. You'll start out with the standard chips and salsa. Once you place your order you won't have to wait long. They get you your food FAST. And when you get it, it's great. I love the shreaded beef burritos. I definitly suggest you try it!

I arrived in Stayton, OR with a bad first impression. First of all, the only hotel in town was a flop, a fleahole reeking of curry and incense, when I arrived in town at 10 at night, the only restaurant in sight was a friggin' Dairy Queen. So when the company I was visiting recommended Ixtapa, I was like; "yea right", As we were all beat after a busy day, the group did not feel like driving to Salem for something to eat, so we figured, "what the hell, we'll give the place a chance", are we glad we did. My companions ordered Beef Fajuitas and Pork Fajuita's, I had the beef enchilada grande. As an appetizer, we ordered a con queso. The con queso arrived first and it was outstanding! A dish with green peppers, diced carrots, diced onions, an enchilada type sauce and lots of cheese. I spent a half hour trying to figure out how I could duplicate this dish at home. The chips and salsa were good too, the waiter tried to convince us it was hot but it was pretty tame to me, but good and fresh. The fajuitas were great, meat was nicely spiced and tender. My enchilada was good too although I have to admit the fajuitas would have made a better choice. Beans and rice were pretty standard, good but nothing I would go out of my way for. Meal ended with some complimentary cinnamon spiced corn chips with whipped cream and strawberry topping. An excellent finish to what was a surprisingly great meal.

Much better on the inside than it looks on the outside. We went for lunch with a party of 7 on Sunday and had a great experience. The good: Wait staff very nice. Served hot tortilla chips and your choice of mild or spicy salsa. Everything arrived on VERY hot plates...as any good restaurant does. Drinks of all varieties never ran dry. All food was correctly delivered with no mistakes. Portions were HUGE... and I am not kidding. All customers reported their meals were tasty. Staff checked back often. The lunch menu is a good bargain and is honored on the weekend as well during it's active hours. The needed improvements: Remodel the outside. You would not want to go inside based on the extremely tired and ugly outside. Don't let that fool you. Prices were a little high but the amount of food will give you a 2 meals for the price of 1 based on the size of the take home boxes. Despite all these things, I would absolutely go back. Nice people.

Salsa, Salsa, Salsa.....I come in sometimes just to purchase their salsa. I always go for their special just so I can try different dishes. Every time it's wonderful. Prices are good for what you get and the service is always great.

While in Stayton for the weekend, we ate here the first night. It seemed to be quite popular as the foot traffic didn't slow down. Workers were friendly. I liked the décor, as it was bright and colorful. We had both ordered three carna asada tacos which were fried and overly greasy with whole black beans. I should have been more specific that I wanted street tacos, meaning not fried. Even though tortillas were overly greasy, the meat, beans and salsa were tasty. Food was brought out in a speedy fashion. Large portions! It was affordable for authentic Mexican food. When they were checking us out they brought us tortilla chips with whip cream and strawberry drizzle, umm yum! I hadn't had sugar/dessert for a few months it was well worth the wait. If we are ever are in town, I'd come back and ordered something different or just be more specific as I am not a fan of greasy food.

There's not a lot of choices for Mexican food in Stayton. My girlfriend and I went here for lunch and we weren't overly impressed. The staff were friendly and the service was good. The food was just so-so. I've had better and I've had worse. I got the standard cheese enchilada plate with rice and beans. The beans were a little bit runny for my taste. Overall, not a bad experience. I was a little disappointed that they didn't serve menudo.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
