This is a pretty small place but comfortable. Typical dinner decor. There were a few original things on the menu like pasties that looked interesting. I had the special, prime rib sandwich. It came with grilled onions, au jus, Swiss cheese. It was quite large but thoughtfully cut in half for easier eating. Very tasty. My spouse had the hamburger. It was apparently hand made and quit good. I think the buns are homemade. Good service too.

Can't find a better country fried steak ANYWHERE! The homemade bread is to die for...and I don't care for bread!! The prices aren't too bad an you get ALOT of food!

Great little place. But be warned, this isn't fast food and your meal will be cooked to order which takes a little time. My fiance and I were here for breakfast. I ordered the French Toast (my usual) and it was delicious. The thick homemade bread really made this a hearty meal. My fiance ordered the special which was two eggs, two sausage, biscuits, and gravy. He loved it. I snagged a bite of his sausage and it was a little mild for me, but tasty none the less. There were a few other diners and everyone seemed to understand the orders took extra time to be done right. In the meantime though, no one's coffee ran out. We decided to take home a loaf of the bread, which was only $3 a bag! Not too bad, even though we couldn't eat it all before it went stale (one of the downfalls of fresh, non-preservative foods).

Good homemade food! Great pies and desserts. It takes a while to get your food, but it's expected. Home town restaurant, cooked to order. Fresh bread. Wonderful staff. I like the Dinner Bell Cafe.

During a visit to Lakeview, we ate dinner here and were very pleased. Our meal was tasty and affordable. The bread was especially good. Sadly, no pies were available. I'll bet they're very good. So impressed were we with dinner, we decided to eat breakfast at Dinner Bell Cafe. Again, a great meal. I'd gladly stop here again!

Be forewarned: if you are traveling through SE Oregon on a Saturday, most restaurants are going to be CLOSED. It's just like the midwest (say - Nebraska!) - on a Sunday. My options were few and far between so I stopped at Dinner Bell Cafe where I was treated to some delicious homemade bread (which was quite expensive by the slice!) and a salad of iceburg lettuce. I am not kidding. There are people who still think that is what you use to make a salad and that it's not just a carrier of water or something to wrap around other tasty ingredients as a roll. The server seemed confused by my inquiries about vegan options - she was again unclear that chicken is not a vegetable - like so many people are. I know - chickens spend a lot of time close to the ground but that's not how they are born - in fact, they come from those little white things we call eggs and which we eat (which are also not a vegetable FYI). There were also no groceries open that day - so, on I went... wishing I had stocked up on more nutritional bars.

The food is always superb. Love the homemade bread. We have only had breakfast but always stop on our way through town. Make sure you park correctly and not at an angle - almost got scared off on our first visit!

Second night report: Patty melt good but not great, something about the cheese seemed a bit off My wife had their chicken tender dish, I thought she was nuts thinking that it would b tiny little chicken strips. Instead, it was three (or 4) huge pieces of chicken on a massive pile of fries. BBQ sauce was very good, albeit a bit different than the usual BBQ sauces. Both nights we couldn't get a dessert, we were too stuffed

Wonderful old-fashioned diner with the best hamburgers ever. We love the jalapeño burger and the chocolate shake. Couldn't stop smiling at this small town gem!

Just ordered a dinner salad which consisted of lettuce and a few pieces of tomato. When I asked the waitress about it she took it personally and threw our check on the table and walked away even though we let her know earlier we wanted pie. When we managed to get the pie which was ordered as hot it arrived cold. We were never spoken to after that. This is a great place if you like fried food processed out of a box.

Great place to eat. Definitely have to have the garlic cheese burger. Big portions. Great service. Its definitely the place to eat. Small town, small café, sometimes getting a seat is challenging but well worth it.

I'm local. This is no doubt the best restaurant in town. Good homemade food from scratch. Things like the homemade bread and pasties (not pastries) are exceptional. Great food, generous portions, great prices, nice people - what else could you ask for?

I had tasty cheeseburger. They bake their own buns so that made it even more delicious. Wanted to try the cobbler, but was too full. Another place that makes their own pies and cobblers can't be that bad.

Great breakfast find. Cute interior. Crowed on a Sunday morning but fun with lots of locals chowing down. Wonderful French Toast made with delicious bread. Good omelet.

What a cozy homey little cafe, with lots of locals. The bacon cheeseburger on homemade bin is second to none. All the fixings were fresh and the meat delicious - yum!!
