If I were reviewing this just on the service and the dishes my family received, this would be a 5-star review. My brother has been a regular at this place for several years, always ordering their Halibut Parmesan, which he absolutely loves. This time was still exactly what he has come to expect. My mother and I, on the other hand, had never before been here. She ordered their Macadamia Basa, which she praised by saying it couldn't have been any better. This is an exceptional compliment from her, as she rarely praises anything. Considering she ate Every Single Bite, I can only applaud them for making such a superb dish. The disappointment came from my crab cakes, which were bland and meh, even with the sweet chili sauce. Maybe it's a regional thing, but I'm accustomed to crab cakes which have more seasoning. I also felt the chili dipping sauce didn't compliment the food, but instead covered its crab flavors. It was, at best, a 3-star item among a family of 5-star dishes and service. Due to the nature of my travel, I stuck to water and never even considered their wine menu. Overall, I feel this is a solidly good restaurant which fell just short of being superb. Having said this, the next time I'm in Corvallis, I'll likely go again and will try a different entree and a glass of wine.

This one surprised me. First time here, but not at other McGraths. I ordered snow crab legs, they were ok. The rice was undercooked, the steamed broccoli was way overcooked. Kinda hard to fuck up broccoli, but they did. Even worse that the server didn't notice. It's not supposed to be brown, folks.

I'm a one trick pony when it comes to seafood restaurants, especially chain types. It's always the fish and chips for me. Take that in consideration when I say the following: The fish and chips here were THE WORST I've ever had. I mean soggy, tough, and like they had poured extra cooking oil on them just for good measure. The fries were, blech, just as bad. The service was actually not bad, so I have to give them an extra star for that. But I will never eat there again. If I can't have a decent fish and chips, not worth trying anything else. #corvsmb

I can't believe this place is still open. The food is so bad. Everyone working in the kitchen should be fired. If you can't cook seafood, don't cook in a seafood restaurant!! The crab stuffed mushrooms and fried calamari apps were served cold even though the crab mushrooms had a nice baked brown crust on top. This leads me to believe they are cooked in advance then reheated. Problem is you served them room temperature. For main course, every entree was way over cooked. Razor clams were like chewing on rubber. "Wild Fresh" salmon was cooked dry of any moisture. "Wild fresh salmon" should have been the clue. Usually you see "wild fresh chinook salmon" or sockeye or coho. This fish was flavorless as well as dry! I'm sure it was fresh before they froze it. The scallops were also cooked to rubber! What is with over-cooking everything? Oh, my mistake. Not everything was over-cooked. The steamed vegetables were so under cooked, the carrots tasted as if the cooking method used was holding them under the hot water tap. Is there no one in the kitchen who gives a crap about quality...are you lazy or stupid? Or both? The only good thing about our experience was our server, Cameron. He really did his best and had the apps refired. But when the kitchen screwed up every entree, that was it. We will never go back. When this place closes, I hope Cameron get work in a place that deserves a great server.

Ate an early(5PM) dinner here for our anniversary. Decided to eat on the patio. Patio tables were dirty and even when cleaned by the hostess, they had chips out of them and still looked dirty. Maybe because they were white. They should have already been cleaned in anticipation for dinner crowd. Hostess had to clean each table as she sat people. There was a spider and web over one chair and table. The hanging plants had run their course and were dry and looked bad. Should have at the very least been removed. Patio could have been ok, even though it looks out over a parking lot and the street noise is always there. Margaritas were simply terrible. Food was not bad. Waiter good but forgot ketchup for fries and had to ask again. linguine was cold. Water had a poor taste to it. We expect better from a McGraths.

This place is hit or miss, fish tacos for lunch one day - Yum Fish Tacos for dinner - not so much, food was lukewarm at best.

Once a quality fish restaurant, this one has definitely fallen off in the last few years. Quality and service have suffered. Customer area often somewhat dirty. Some of the problem appears to be rooted in the wait-staff...we just don't get the impression some of them really care about the customer. If you are truly looking for a quality fish dinner, this may not be your best option at this time. Hopefully it comes back up in the future!

We rarely eat out as we cook good food at home. We had calimari which was ok, then razorback clams and stuffed shrimp which were amazing. Chowder was good. Wanda gave efficient kind service. Thanks

My sister and I both got violently ill after eating here, and what we ate there was the only non-common denominator in a week's worth of meals with three other people. Avoid. Avoid avoid avoid.

We as a family enjoy this restaurant for many special occasions and enjoy every minute of it! Tonight's experience was awful and making us seriously consider if this restaurant will remain on our list. We arrived early for dinner, before 4:30, we were seated promptly with drink order taken very quickly. Appetizers were ordered before drinks arrived, and while they took longer than normal to arrive, they were very good, both the drinks and appetizers. At that point things took a strange turn, our meal fell to pieces. Bread had to be requested more than once, a request for water was completely ignored. While the salads were delivered a few minutes later than we expected, we were still patient. I have to say the wait from salad plate pick up until dinner service was at least 45 minutes, but our night was ruined with COLD entrees, all five of them! While the manager did discount our meal, I have to say more than 2 hours for dinner, was way too long.We arrived in restaurant with just a few table filled and left with a lobby full of guests waiting. Not sure what is going on at this establishment but I hope they fix it soon! 2 stars simply because the beginning of service was excellent, but there really is and should be no excuse for COLD dinner entrees!

Extremely disappointed. We waited for 15 minutes for a hostess to appear. The waiting area was full the whole time and NO ONE was around to help. Two parties left in that time. Once we got seated, it took 10 minutes to get water and our order taken. Then we waited for our food for 40 minutes. Service was horrible. Food was ok. Our baked potatoes were almost cold. Will not go back.

This place is a joke, it's fast food seafood. If you like your fish frozen, probably purchased from Winco, and warmed in the microwave then pig out. I will never come here again.

We love McGrath's especially at happy hour! Sit in the bar, get the small bite sampler, a couple of beers, and enjoy great service from Keri!

Great place to eat. Clean and delicious food. I've seen some reviews that say they microwave their food but they don't even have a microwave in the kitchen.

Horrible service and mediocre food. After being seated for 20 minutes with waiters/waitresses walking by we still had not been approached by any wait staff. I finally flagged down a waitress and we placed our order. 12 minutes later my soup arrived even though we still had not received our drinks or even water. When the bread arrived it was frozen. Horrible experience. Never again.....

In from California, we looked all day to find the place we totally loved three years ago! On Labor Day we were served strange, dry, pieces of red snapper like we feed to kitty back home, no fillet! Those parts that get over cooked and fall off the grill!? Also a terrible macadamia crusted sole, greasy and soaked in some kind of bizarre caper sauce. A very DYED red salmon....sockeye never looked that red! The al dente roast veggies broke our teeth. I'm so sorry, just nothing was remotely appealing! EXCEPT, the sourdough, which was what we remembered from our last visit! We are here once a year and now I can't see visiting McGrath's again. How sad, because the staff was so friendly and helpful. Our guess is the Labor Day cooks were not the regulars, but to spend $105.00 and feel sick and sad...well, there are many good spots in Corvallis and that's where we are headed in the future....

One hour and 20 min. And still no food? Very disappointed from a regular customer .We finally gave up and went to Baja Fresh. Thank you Mc. For the free beer and I apologize to our waitress

Okay. The Corvallis McGrath's is in an excellent location: next to the movie theater. If you want to grab a drink before the movie--perfect. For food, I'm not a huge seafood connoisseur (so take this with a fleck of fish) but the cod has been decent and the wood-fired shrimp are fine. Salads: 5 stars. Baked potatoes: 5 stars. Staff: 5 stars. Excluding the manager *you'll recognize him as the hoverer* Here's the thing, please do NOT insincerely (how does he do this you ask? With a look on his face like he's the head of a stuffy company) walk my party to a table and then twenty minutes later stop by in between my awesome waitstaff person looking like you're checking on them and ask us "How is everything." I don't like that kind of false-restaurant manager crap. Some people appreciate this. I'd say this is an older generation thing (and I'm not young) that likes this. Please stop. You are turning people away. Really everyone else working there is friendly, polite, helpful. They don't linger too long, they don't stop you in mid-chew, and they fill your refills before you ask. Four stars for food and staff minus the manager.

Happy hour is an excellent deal due to all small bites and shared appetizers being half off. This is the time you need to come. The fish is always fresh and brought in daily. I know this for fact cause I have seen the back and know many people that work there. Yes, some of the dishes don't work and I have not liked them, but all food is made in house right down to the bread and salad dressing. The place can be hit or miss serving wise in the bar, but the food is plentiful for what you are paying and if you join their e-club, you can get some great coupons through your email. I get skeched out about my fish often, but know I'm getting it fresh here. Even their fillets come from an entire fish and there is a guy in the back breaking the fish down. That is great.

I love McGrath's Fish House. They have great fisherman's stew. Their happy hour is great, service is great. Very fast service and reasonable prices.

First visit ti to a McGraths was a spur of the moment, we were starving and had no idea what to expect. We were seated promptly and were very well attended to throughout our dining experience. Our food was ok although the vegetables were heavily sauteed in butter. The baked potato was good size and served hot. Both of our fish dinners were prepared ok but the portions were on the small side. I would rank this one step above a sizzler for a fish place.

The one in Corvallis is HORRIBLE. There is always a wait, which I don't understand because it's never been good. Not only is there a wait at the beginning, but half the time I think the waiters forget they have your table. It takes a while for them to take your order, and bring out your food. I've ordered the calamari a couple times, hoping it gets better each time... It never does. It's always been way over cooked, and often burnt. I've gotten two different kinds of salmon, and it's been dry every time. I feel like Im eating tarter sauce with a little salmon just to hide the taste. The fish and chips was greasy also. The only thing that I could tolerate at this place was the salad and bread, but that's hard to get wrong.

This is the ONLY Mcgrath's that I can recommend, we have been to others and are always disappointed. I recommend ordering off of the "Daily Specials", anytime they have the Marionberry Steelhead, I order it. We always sit in the bar and Stephanie does a GREAT job taking care of us. Oddly enough the "Fish and Chips" is the worst thing on the menu.

Haven't had a dish yet that I didn't like. Loved the Halibut tacos, Halibut Davinci pasta, and another Halibut dish I can't remember. Hmmm, so far I've loved everything with Halibut. Liked the BBQ Salmon and Baja Chicken sandwich. My husband is really picky about his seafood, having grownup on the coast, he says this is the best you will find inland. I also really enjoyed the coconut prawns, but don't order if you don't have a sweet tooth.

More like 2.5. I usually get the fish and chips but the place is expensive. I would recommend the salmon burger if anything.

We have eaten at the the McGrath's in Salem, Eugene and Corvallis. We went again this past Saturday night with our daughter and her boyfriend. Called ahead for a 6 o'clock time and we were seated within 5 minutes of arriving. Service was consistently excellent this night even though the restaurant was packed. The four of us repsectively had the stuffed halibut, halibut a gratin, halibut & chips, and the seared coconut ahi, all of which were very good. The snow crab leg starter was ok but the marionberry cobler for desert was great. I travel a lot for work so I eat at a lot of the best restaurants around the U.S. and in Europe so I take McGrath's for what it is and don't expect it to compete with Michelin-rated establishments. We always enjoy going to McGrath's.

I'm sure it was a bad night or something, but i went with my family and girlfriend for a nice eat, instead we had a joke of a night there. We were seated fairly quickly, this is the best thing i can say about this place. The Bad: After we order from a decent looking menu it took forever for the food to come. Had to of been at least 40-60 minutes. Meanwhile our waiter kept checking on us (not apologizing just kind of staring at us with a helpless look). I think the waiter was either about to be fired or he might have been high. Well once we received our food the portions where very small. I had a mixed seafood plate that had two small pieces of halibut (i really mean small), a few scallops, and a few shrimp. It was $20 or so. Nothing close to a full meal. The horror did NOT end. The food tasted like crap, it looked like it was bought from the Winco frozen section and simply warmed in the oven. Horrible. It may have been a one off night, but i will never eat at McGrath's again.

They had copper river salmon which would have been great, but it was over cooked. Disappointing. Normally food is pretty good. The seafood cajun dish is usually a good place to go as well.

I had the worst fish of my life there. I am not exaggerating. Went with four other family members. One person ordered salmon grilled on a wood plank and liked it. I tried her dish and it tasted like salmon--so I guess you could call that a success. Meanwhile, I had ordered rainbow trout: it did not taste like any rainbow trout I had ever had. It tasted both spoiled and freezer-burned. My husband's snapper tasted exactly like my trout--two types of fish that should taste very different, instead tasted equally of freezer and rot. The crab cakes were very bready. Such a bad meal that we were STILL talking about how bad it was 2 days later. I love fish and I couldn't take more than one bite of my disgusting not-trouty trout, for which I paid 16 bucks. To be fair, the salads were good, and huge. Don't come here to eat fish.

Pretty decent seafood place that offers a nice dining experience. Good variety of menu items and a wide range of seafood. One of my favorite dishes is the Cape Cobb salad with extra bleu cheese. It comes with smoked salmon and cooked shrimp on top of the normal Cobb salad toppings. Way better than a Red Lobster.

was sorry to see one of the reviews pan the food. i have had meals at several mcgrath's and was there this past week. at every location, they have always done a great job. i did learn one thing about this chain. once or twice, i ordered off the regular menu, and was quite disappointed with the food. but every time that i have ordered off the daily specials menu, i have never been disappointed, and several times had wished that there were more food on my plate to eat, it was so good. the service is always great, the people friendly, and the sourdough bread is some of the best i have eaten. just stick to the daily specials and you will not be disappointed.

Varied menu, food is consistently great. Order a special if one catches your eye. Good service. Fresh bread. They have tasty and large salads - but get dressing on the side. If your parents are visiting, this is a good place to take them. I prefer McGraths over Newport Grill (Salem) by far. Adobe is my favorite seafood place but that is 1.5 hours away.

Had lunch here on a Friday. Excellent service and food. My wife especially liked her parmesan coated Basa.

Good seafood and other types of food. Prices are generally good. The fish tacos were our favorite until they changed the type of fish (too fishy). Service is generally good and the manager (Ed) works to make right things that go wrong. Bar is ok and you can get full service in the bar. We like the bartenders.
