Monkey’s Subs Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

  • M S.

Best subs in the area. It's a very small shop in the Albertson shopping center. The people working are always very friendly. Wish they stayed open later.

The outside simply says "sub shop" in bold red letters, but this is the place! In the same parking lot as Albertsons. BEST SUBS IN TOWN! they fresh slice the meat for your sandwich right in front of you, they're sweet as pie and they taste absolutely delicious! My favorite is the turkey bacon avocado. The half is still huge so if you don't like super large meals sick with the half. Mmm mmm good!

We used to love Monkeys...but the last TWO times we've eaten there my family got sick. Not a coincidence. Sorry, but we need to find a new sub shop.

Best sandwiches around. I've tried all the sandwich places and Monkey subs are the best. Meat is sliced fresh when you order and the bread is what really sets them apart from the rest for me. Always get great service with a smile. You may have to wait a bit sometimes but that's what happens when you put out a great product.

Came here off a recommendation of a friend because I love French dip sandwiches and this place has an awesome French dip supreme with cream cheese, it's great and the au jus isn't generic, it's a unique flavor that goes so well with the beef. The bread here isn't great in my opinion and is the only reason I didn't give it a 5 star

Two words:: HOLY CRAP! Monkey's is the best sub shop in town. Their bread (and everything else) is fresh, every day. The staff at Monkeys is friendly, professional, and fun to work with. I will forever be a customer!

This was my fist time here. Usually when I visit a sub shop for the first time I order a B.L.T because of it's simplicity and since it is so simple it should be outstanding. The bread is nothing special a little hard, Most of the lettuce had brown spots, the only bright spot was the bacon which was not plentiful as the menu stated but was good. The only thing I enjoyed here was the music. $9.50 for a full size sub is a little much definitely not 4 stars. Sorry monkey but you Need to step up your game.

Sadly I have to remove a few stars and here is why: They used to give you a fair amount of meat on your sandwich, tonight I got a super tiny amount of Beef in my French Dip Sandwich, and I asked for it on white, I got wheat. It is one thin layer of meat, Arbys has a much better sandwich for less money. The girl who answers the phone has zero personality or customer service skills, when I called my order in I could barely hear her and kept telling her so and that it was garbled. She just ignored me and continued to ask questions. Hubby went in to pick up the sandwiches and said the same thing, she acts as if she is hating her job and it shows, big time. I notice that I am not the only one who noticed and said so in their Yelp review, apparently it means nothing as she is still there. It is just not worth the money anymore or the hassle. They have no online presence and no menu online either.

Perhaps my expectations were a bit high from reading reviews for Monkey Subs. I've heard people compare them to Beaverton Sub Shop and Geraldi's. I don't get it! The sandwich was better than anything at Subway, to be sure, but that's not saying much. I can do better, much better, at home. The meat portion was average. The sandwich was average. It's a takeout place most days with no seats inside, so there's that - unusual for a sub shop. If "beats Subway" is a goal, then Monkey succeeded. If being the best is an aim, they missed the mark by my calculation.

I really don't understand the high rating here. I thought I would give this place a go since Sub Station(my favorite sandwich shop) had impossible parking due to construction and I didn't feel like parking down the street and walking in the rain. My first complaint is there's absolutely no seating. Nothing inside and two tables outside that were being used. We had to eat in the car. The sandwiches really weren't that special. Not bad, but I would compare it to Jimmy Johns. I suggest you skip this place and head over to Beaverton Sub Station. That place is 100 times better.

  • Mike B.

Fresh sliced meat, bread could use some help, i'm not a huge fan of hard crusted subs but thats just my preference. Other than that it's not a bad little lunch stop, beautiful girls running the place, friendly and quick service, i'll definitely return to try other menu items

This is hands down a great place to get a sub and the owner and staff are so cool and friendly. They fresh slice your meat per order and offer plenty of yummy extras. After eating here you will never be able to enjoy subway again beacuse this place is THAT delish. Just an FYI they are a small joint, and do not have seating inside (they do have outside seating which is nice in the dry seasons) so you will have to take it to go.

  • Paul D.

Excellent sub shop. A hole in the wall in a nondescript shopping center -- the sign outside doesn't even say "Monkey's." Don't miss it! They slice the meat fresh for each sandwich, and they use shredded lettuce and good tomatoes and all the appropriate toppings (in the right proportion). The sub roll is crusty on the outside and soft on the outside, as it should be. This is as close as I've had to a real east coast sub out here in the Portland area. N.B. No indoor seating.

Monkey's is an awesome sub shop in the Farmington Plaza strip mall at the corner of SW 185th Ave. and SW Farmington Rd. in Aloha. You can build your own sub or choose from 11 specialty subs, 3 hot subs and 5 basic old school subs; each under $10 for a full (whole) sandwich which can easily feed two hungry adults! My all-time favorite is the Barrel O' Monkey's, one of their specialty subs. Provolone, cheddar, ham, cotto salami, pepperoni, pastrami and salami on a white or wheat roll with your choice of mayo, mustard, tomato, lettuce, onion, oil and vinegar. The subs are offered in full or half sizes. 4 ft. and 6 ft. party subs are also available. A combo meal with a large drink and chips or potato salad is an additional $2.50. They also have mini meal deals for the kids; a 1/3 old school sub with a small drink and chips for under 4 bucks. The carved-to-order meats and the fresh-baked bread can't be beat! Much better than any chain sub shop, hands down. They are now open Monday to Sunday, 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m...you can get your Monkey on 7 days a week! 4.5 stars rounded to 5. No inside seating, take out only. When the weather is nice, they sometimes have outdoor seating.

Small sub shop that makes amazing sandwiches! This is a diamond in the rough. Love the R&B music they play. 90's R&B is the way to my heart! Besides the music everything is really fresh. Meat is sliced right there. It's best to call in an order on the weekends. They do have seating outside, but it gets packed in the summer. The staff are friendly and have always accommodated large short notice orders.

    (5)
  • Megan L.

Really tasty subs, but I wish it had more of the ingredients on it. I felt like I paid $9 for a loaf of bread with barely any toppings.

My fave sandwich spot of all time! My old co-worker & I used to joke "Man, they must put crack in the bread because it's so addicting!" I've been goin here since maybe 2007-ish? The taste & quality has never changed! I love that, it's so dependable. I get the Monkey Wrench, hubby gets the Turkey Bacon Avocado. I've also tried the meatball sub. All nummy! We order the same thing so often, we even have a number on the wall! (If you get the same thing all the time, you can eventually be given a numbered slip with your sandwich on it. Then, when you call ahead, you tell em your number and boom, easy for all.) I went here last New Years Eve, around 4pm and I literally got the last sandwich of the day. They had so many orders, they plum ran out. So, if you're needing a sandwich for a special occasion, call & order ahead. This isn't a sit down place! There's a few seats outside on the sidewalk, but I'd say this is a to-go spot for sure. I hope you enjoy this place as much as I do!

  • Anastasia J.

Love local businesses with quality food. This place has the best subs in town for sure. Fresh ingredients and meat sliced to order. Why get subway when this is less than a mile away.

    (5)
  • D C.

Good people, great owners always friendly and the sandwiches are always tasty. Been coming here for over 10 years now and still have never been disappointed.

  • Jaimie G.

We absolutely love this place. Always have great music playing and the food is so good. We always get the pastrami and turkey bacon avocado.

    (5)
  • Michael B.

Above average sub shop, one of the better establishments as far as subs go. Meat is sliced to order as you watch, good quality cheese and fresh bread. My only complaint is that the sandwich would be much better with a leaf or two of fresh romaine lettuce instead of the cheap and tasteless shredded iceberg lettuce.

  • Darvish B.

One of my favorite foods is a loaded sub sandwich. And after finding monkey's sub on yelp with such high marks I just had to give it a try. Being only a mile away from my house I was thinking it could be my go to place when I craved a sub. To say I was disappointed was putting it nicely. I ordered one of their sub specials, "Barrel O Monkeys". Ask for extra lettuce and onions. The meats were shaved very thin which is just the way I like it but too bad there wasnt much.

    (3)
  • Bryan M.

Friendly staff and delicious sandwiches. Do yourself a favor and avoid Subway and support a local company who doesn't try to skimp on the actual insides of a sandwich. You can find a favorite from the menu and I promise you will enjoy it better than the majority of the sub shops you've tried before. Try it!

    (5)
  • Kristina G.

Amazing food! Yummy hot pastrami! And super sweet workers. They really want their customers to be happy :) thank you for the extra special help when I forgot my wallet!!

  • Mad Max R.

Probably the best sub in the area! First off, don't get confused by the name: It says 'sub shop' out front but the official name is 'Monkey subs'. The only indicator of that is a carved wooden monkey inside. And outside of some crayoned pictures inside from the local middle school, that's pretty much ALL that's inside here besides a meat slicer, a cooler and the dude behind the counter. The Monkey Wrench is a solid move every time. But the roast beef...oh shit its like beef porn! They roast it up right there, and when shaved its all pink and juicy inside...a lot like a prime rib sandwich, actually. All irony with the taste of fresh delicious damn near still mooing cow.... ...sorry I had to take a cold shower! Only complaint is theyre missing a good pepper relish. Yes, they have jalapenos and pepperoncini but what they REALLY need is a good red cherry pepper relish, a-la Jersey Mikes.

  • Margaret D.

The Sub Shop was what this place was called about 20 or so years ago, and it was my favorite sub shop. New owners named it Monkey's Subs and the quality was still the same; if not better. The staff is great, the food is fresh, and they have a lot of cool subs on their menu. I have been known to take trips out here just for the subs. I recommend this place!

    (5)
  • Chad D.

These sandwiches punch my tongue in the buds with deliciousness. I could eat Monkey Subs all day, everyday. If I were on death row, I would request one of these bad boys, no, TWO of these as my last meal.

Great local sub shop. The meat and cheese were cut fresh for the sub. Creative names and good service.

    (4)
  • Lindsey K.

It's alright personally a little spendy for a sub sandwich and the bread isn't really all that great The main guy is great with customers but the gal that rang me up was not personable. She didn't smile or great anyone that walked in, came across as someone that hated their job.

  • Robert B.

After reading the great reviews on Yelp, I had to stop by and try Monkey Subs. I'm always on the lookout for amazing sandwiches and this place delivers in that category! The owner is a super friendly and outgoing fella who greeted me and threw in some jokes. I ordered a full sized Barrel O' Monkey's sub that is "filled with provolone and cheddar cheese, ham and cotto salami, pepperoni, pastrami and salami"....it was DELICIOUS!!!! Fresh cut meats, crunchy veggies, tasty bread...the epitome of a damn good deli sandwich! Size and price is on point! A full can easily fill you up! The restaurant itself didn't seem to accommodate much of any seating, I do believe that the have tables out when the weather is nice? Who would have guessed such an amazing sandwich place existed in Aloha? In the 'burbs!! I have eaten at most of the "best sandwich shops" in Portland and the surrounding area....Monkey Subs is as good if not better than the majority of these places! If you like great sandwiches/subs you would be hard pressed to find a better spot!

    (5)
  • Jason P.

Great customer service! I'm always greeted with a smile, and hello as soon as I walk in the door. The subs are downright addictive. Thinly shaved meat, sliced to order, on fresh bread, with the just the condiments you want. A great sandwich is greater than the sum of its parts, and Monkey subs pulls this off every time. It is a small space though, and becoming more popular, so if it's lunch time, make sure to allow a little longer.

    (5)
  • Karli K.

This place is amazing! The girls are always super nice and have so much fun! I've eaten almost all the sandwiches; monkey wrench, turkey bacon avocado, french dip (amazing au jus), barrel of monkeys, etc, etc!! The owner is awesome too, super involved with the shop and the local schools!! All around a great place to go!

  • Jay M.

This has turned into a once a week lunch spot for me. Usually because I start talking to someone at work who has never had one and I pop out to treat them to a large Monkey Wrench. The large is a pretty good sized sandwich from them. I usually get mine without vinegar and oil. The bread is great and it has that firmness and crispness with a good chew to it. The meat is sliced directly off the bulk/chub onto the sandwich. Service is friendly and I have been greeted in a sincere manner each time I have been there. This has been my favorite sandwich place as of late. I like Jersey Mike's, but I love Monkey's Subs.

  • Deon F.

I use to love this place but my family and I have gotten sick the last 2 times we've eaten there! Such a bummer...

    (1)
  • Tory E.

These subs were great the bread was awesome the customer service was excellent. My 5yr old son was taking the sandwich apart that's just how he eats and they came out and asked if he would like a different one we told him its just his way of eating. this kind of attention to customers is sadly not the norm. Excellent subs

    (5)
  • Cait S.

Place was empty at noon, probably not a good sign. Both sandwiches we got were bland and the bread wasn't anything special. Not bad food, but nothing special and not 4 or 5 stars.

    (3)
  • Cole H.

The people in here are always very happy. And the subs are always fantastic. They seem to be priced very well too! It is a great place to eat if you are in a pinch for time

    (4)
  • Johnny D.

Cons: Odd hours/days so much so that you would think he/she is using a Costa Rican calendar with European Union labor rules applied (only some of you will understand that). The best guidance is to call before you head there. Other cons is that sometimes the place is a little messy and the guy running the place has some odd music choices. Pros: If want a tasty sub and you don't care for the Jared special at subway. Go here! The bread is great, the meat is tasty and well layered. You cannot eat an entire sub unless you're doing it on a bet. Get your Monkey Wrench. Get two or three for game day. You will not be disappointed. No reason to be wordy. Check out their menu and try for yourself. Parking sucks -- shared lot with the rest of the strip mall and Albertsons. Seating is extremely limited so plan on a to go order or go when it's nice and the outdoor seating is only marginally more plentiful.

  • Nancy W.

Best Sub sandwiches!!! My brother was visiting from California and couldn't understand why I asked my husband if he wanted a half of a half. The subs are packed with delicious meat and cheese, very tasty!!!

    (5)
  • Brian R.

Monkey's is what a sub shop should be! My family and I have been coming here for 8 years, and there is no better sandwich around. I will drive some distance for a great sandwich, and this is hands down the best place in the Portland Metro area. Everything is fresh, and the meat is cut right in front of you. On top of the product, go in there a few times and they remember you by first name, and remember your order as well. To top it off, the owner is very involved with the local community and youth sports. A great small business!

  • Jeremy A.

Best Place ever! thanks to all the reviews that led us to this place. truly is a hidden treasure. Customer service is amazing personal and makes you feel apart of the family. We had the Monkey wrench the first time we came and blew our socks off. The S word is no longer in our vocabulary. Next we had the french dip supreme it is a must!! soooo good. they make they're own break, bacon and roast beef. its the best at what it does!!. SO proud to be a monkey sub supporter 8)

Without a doubt, the best sub you'll find in the west-side suburbs. (Definitely better than Beaverton Sub Station) Food: 4 stars Price: 5 stars Service: 5 stars Setting: 2 stars Oh yeah. SO excited to find somewhere in the Beaverton area worth telling people about. The meat selection is great. All the cuts are very high quality and always cut to order. This place is so much more than it's first impressions. These guys obviously love and know a damn good sando. 2 kinds of bread - both freshly baked. The white is crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. The wheat is a little more hearty but not overly so that it distracts from the wonderful toppings. My buddy Dusty E. had the white and said it was a little too sourdoughy for him. Great selection of fresh toppings. Avocados are all green (no dark spots), soft, and delicious. Vegies were crunchy and flavorful. I like the oil and vinegar on top but something with a bit more flavor would have been nice. Service was great. She was fast and very friendly. The Setting got knocked down a few stars because it's pretty tight inside and the only seating is a couple of metal chairs outside.

I found out that Monkey's makes their own bread, their own roast beef, and their own bacon. Normally, I'd probably just get a turkey sandwich from a sub shop and call it a day, but I had to get something unique to Monkey's. I got a half roast beef sandwich for $5.75. Lettuce, tomatoes, provolone cheese, and mayonnaise join the roast beef on your choice of white or wheat bread. I asked for wheat bread and no mayo, but added, at no extra cost, jalapenos, Dijon mustard, and pickles. Monkey's has several different sandwich specialties, and you can customize your order how you want it. Most of the toppings and condiments are free, which is always nice. The roast beef sandwich was good. I liked that the bread was firm enough to hold all the sandwich components, but the bread was also soft enough so that it's not a life-or-death struggle to eat the damn thing. However, I would have liked the option to toast the bread (Monkey's doesn't let you toast the bread). To me, there's nothing like biting down into a sub sandwich with warm, toasty bread -- especially when you'd have the crunchy outside and the soft inside. The roast beef was tender, properly cooked, and sliced very thin. However, the roast beef itself was tasteless. But major kudos for making their own. Another reason why I wanted the bread toasted (like how a Subway or a Quizno's would): melting the provolone on the roast beef would have been freakin' awesome. Instead, it was just sliced cheese on meat, topped with condiments and vegetables. Monkey's does hot sandwiches as well, such as a meatball sandwich or a French dip. I would be concerned with how the bread will hold the hot components in place if the bread is not toasted. I wouldn't say Monkey's makes the greatest sub sandwich that I've ever eaten, but at least it's better than some other sandwich places I've been to.

This is basically the voodoo donuts of sub shops, except you don't have all the stoners and hipsters and eclectic wall art--ok, they are nothing alike except both are the best in the class in PDX area. Monkey's also provides subs at my daughter's school for school lunch......she calls the big bald guy the "Monkey man". I've thought about showing up at her school and buying a lunch ticket. Barrel of monkeys is one heck of a sandwich if you are looking for a recommendation for a "man meal"....not some little sub-slider with 3 slices of meat like you'd get at subway.

    (5)
  • Eric L.

I had a Monky Wrench today from Monkey Sub's. I have been here a few times. They do normally pile on the toppings, but today they were very skimpy. The one thing that I wish would improve here the most is the bread, it's always so dry. I keep giving this place another chance because it's locate to where I live and I love the vibe in this place. Come on Monkey Subs, improve the dry stale bread please!

  • Krystal K.

Best. Subs. Ever. Cannot say enough about how awesome this place is. Best one is the supreme dip. Hands down greatest Au jus I've ever had.

  • Brian I.

A co-worker introduced me to Monkey's a year or so ago. The weather was pleasant outside, and it was one of the first nice days of the year. We ate outside and in general, enjoyed the weather. I remember thinking that the sub was impressive, but not memorable. My opinion's changed. I've eaten a sandwich from Monkey's 3 times in the past 2 weeks. The "Monkey Wrench" is the sandwich to get, in my opinion. I've also had the "Banana Boat", which is essentially the Monkey Wrench minus a few meats and 2 (I think) types of cheese. Get the Monkey Wrench. You won't be disappointed. I've found the employees to be friendly and engaging. Yes, the shop's small and there's no seating inside to speak of. What they lack in accommodations they make up for with their food. It's that good.

I found Monkey's Subs via Yelp! Thank you fellow reviewers. Loved it and will be going back soon. I had the French dip. Typically I don't care for the dip but I almost slurped it up after my sandwich was gone. We also had a meatball sub. Both were very good. The bread was soft and the roast beef was the best I've ever had at a deli/sub shop. It was rare and perfectly seasoned. It didn't have that shiny blue green tint often found on roast beef. No seating at all. 3 or 4 tables outside but in the Albertson's parking lot..so take it home for sure! The staff was awesome and they had some funky tunes going. I enjoyed my visit and will be back for more.

  • Genna C.

Simple and to the point, this sub shop really delivers. Ingredients are fresh, bread is soft and tasty, service is fast. I get the turkey and salami. They use plenty of mayo, always a plus in my book, and season with salt and pepper. I know that sounds simple, but a little basic seasoning elevates a blah sub into one I'll buy again. Definitely small and unassuming, but on a recent visit at 2:30 on a Thursday traffic was at a steady stream as I sat outside eating my sub. Nothing fancy. Give me good meats, cheeses, veggies and bread, simply seasoned any day over gourmet anything. So glad I found this bright spot in an otherwise somewhat bleak Aloha strip mall.

Really good sandwich option for the area! Little expensive to me but everything was very fresh. Big portions with a pile of meat. A half will probably fill up! Kristine

Best subs in town even beats our other favorite sub shop - Subway. Always fresh and sliced and made to order just the way you like it. The owner Vic is a great guy and does a great job in the shop and I like that he supports the local kids in sports.

So, with much anticipation, I made the trek to Monkey Subs for the very first time. It took me a bit to find the place as there is only a small sign above the door that reads 'Sub Shop'. The place is a very small ' hole in the wall' type place with no indoor seating. Actually, if you have five or more people in line, the place is very crowded. There are two tables and chairs outside... Definitely a take out place. The subs are generous and delicious! I had the Monkey Wrench. Fresh bread and meats that are piled high. I believe the owner was making the subs and seemed to be a likable guy. I regrettably take away one star as there was some confusion on an order before me and a sub had to be remade. Also, they ran out of white sub rolls and had to deal with that on a previous order before getting to mine( it WAS Sunday afternoon, so I get it). However, that said, I had to sit there for 15-20 minutes to get my sub. Needless to say, the sub was so delicious that I will certainly go back any time I am in the area!!

  • Gia C.

These guys are awesome! Very friendly staff, great subs, the meat is sliced when you order and we've never had a problem here. There isn't much in the way of seating but for take-away it's the best. We love to stop in when we can. Definitely stop in and try it at least to support the local small shops!

  • Jennifer L.

This is where it's at! Fresh bread, Fresh sliced meats and cheeses...YUM! My only complaint would be that it is a little pricey BUT SO WORTH IT!

Danget, just writing this review is making me crave the monkey wrench. You won't be let down. Eat their sandwiches or you'll end up an old man, full of regret. ;P

My fiance and I recently moved into the Aloha area. This place caught our eye as we were at Miller paint next door. A few days later I had to try them out and got us both subs. They were probably the most amazing subs that either of us have ever tasted. He slices his own meat with a deli slicer right in front of you! Theres a broad selection of cold and warm subs. And everything is reasonably priced. It is a small operation, there is not a place to sit and eat there, so this place is take out only. It is well workth it.

Great sandwich joint. You have to try the Roast Beef Sub. The roast beef is sliced per order. Friendly staff, will go back again.

Agree with most all the reviews here, place is amazing. Great Bread, great toppings, great prices; HUGE SUBS!!! The only place that rivals it is Beaverton Sub Station.

Great local sandwich shop. Quality ingredients and friendly staff. They also do a lot to support the local community. Well worth a stop.

  • Bryan T.

I discovered this place off a food app off of my phone. It was close to my new house so I figured I'd give it a shot. It was very small inside so it appears to be take out only, but the subs are massive and they are incredibly good. I will definitely make this a regular place to eat at.

  • Yee H.

A friend told me about this place and I've read the reviews on yelp. Finally the wait was over. I ordered the barrel of monkeys and it was amazing. Got it with everything on it, and enjoyed every bite. All of the ingredients were proportionate, which is important to me. I like to taste all the ingredients, not how some places pile on too much meat or too many veggies. Very nice and helpful people and great fresh ingredients! As people metnioned there is no indoor seating, but hey would you pass up going to Fiji if you could only stand on the beach??It's a must try for anyone looking for a great sub.

have been coming here for years. They never skimp with the meat! They use twice the meat over other sub places :)

  • K W.

Had a nice sandwich with all there homemade ingredients. I'll just call it the triple BBB's. Beef, bacon and bread. Going to have to try the french dip next time.

Truly great sandwiches and great customer service. They never skimp on anything. You won't leave here still hungry!

  • Josh A.

People kept telling me I needed to come here, so I finally did. Hilda (the owner's sister, she told me) greeted me at the door and was super friendly and helpful. She chatted with me as she sliced the meat on one of those gigantic industrial slicers (which reminded me of Kramer from "Seinfeld." and told me about the shop. I got the signature Monkey Wrench and it was really good! I'll definitely go back.

Good subs and worth getting if you are in the area. But not nearly as special as Beaverton Sub Station

Wonderful local business! We love the sandwiches and they are man sized. I have picked up several subs while my husband and his friends were landscaping our yard and there wasn't a single hungry man left. :)

I was taken to Monkey Subs by a Client during her kitchen remodel (I am her designer) and I WAS TOTALLY BLOWN AWAY!! I am an old school "TOGO's" girl from California and I have not been impressed by the "Subway" craze - yuck!! If you want fresh bread and your deli meat sliced wafer thin to order, then this is your place. I enjoyed the pastrami and provolone and I have been back several times since (each time taking a newbie with me!!) Yes it is a small (no indoor seats), hard to find (next to Miller Paint off Farmington Rd and 185th, in the Albertson's parking lot), and you will probably have to stand in a line outside before you order - IT IS SO WORTH YOUR TIME - Delicious!!

This is by far one of the greatest sandwich places in Oregon. The first time I heard about Monkey's was from a co-worker who proclaimed this to be the best sandwiches period. He loved them so much he'd drive from far NE Portland all the way down to Aloha. I figured if it was good enough to endure a 40+ min drive both ways it had to be OK. The first time I went to Monkeys, I knew I could never eat another sandwich from anywhere else again. I was hooked. Everything, including the warm greetings from the owner Vic (who's very supportive of the local community) and Rich (who always provides an incredible experience) makes Monkeys a must for sandwiches. If you go there enough you may earn a spot on the wall.

I love the novelty of this place. From outside you wouldn't look at it twice - in fact, it's sign reads "Sub Shop" and until going inside I did not know that the place had a real name. It must be the only place in the area where you can watch the meats and cheeses on your sandwiches be sliced right before your eyes. The guys that work in the store are wonderfully friendly and laid back. This is sandwich + charisma right here. It certainly isn't the best sandwich I've had in my life, but it is a swell place to visit and get a bite to eat.

It's a rare day when one comes across a great sub sandwich. Miles above Subway or Quiznos. In fact Subway and Quiznos are not even in the same league. If you are in or near Beaverton, you have to stop by.

I visited Monkey's for the first time yesterday due to all the good stuff Yelpers have written about it. I was sort of in the area, so I figured it was a good time. They were blaring The Immaculate Collection from Madonna on outdoor speakers SO loud that I immediately respected them. I kind of hoped that it has bothered passing squares. I automatically got a "we do what we do, and if you don't like it, screw yourself!" attitude from that, and the fact that "verbal abuse" is listed in their sandwich ingredients. I like a place with attitude! You don't get a sense of muted bureaucratic BS at Monkey's! (End soap box) Now to the sandwich. It was simple, and good. I asked for no mustard; they put it on there anyway, but no big deal. The menu had nothing special, nothing elaborate. I got a turkey sub. Everything was "pretty good". I have definitely had better sandwiches, but not really in the Portland metro area. I will definitely go back at some point, because I want to try their turkey bacon avocado. I love sandwiches, and have tried desperately to find a good place I can abuse with my patronage, but to little avail.I hate to say this...because I love small businesses, but I think the made-to-order deli sandwiches at Safeway Tanasbourne might exceed the quality at Monkey's(so far), and they don't use iceberg lettuce. I feel lame for putting this in my review, but I'm desperate: If anyone knows of any really exceptional places to get a sandwich, I'd love to hear about it. Nothing fancy, please. My favorite sandwich joint is still a hole in the wall Italian place in Southern California.

This is a really small place with no seating inside at all and looks like it is for takeout only. The menu items are standard sub shop choices. This place does offer a choice of roll sizes other than the basic 1 footer (I think like a 2 footer or maybe bigger). The counter staff slice the meat to order and the serving size is enough. But, the food was just not anything that stood out. It was very basic nothing fancy like garlic or guacamole spread, bread choices (other than standard white or wheat sub roll) or artichoke hearts or anything like that. For the area, this sub shop maybe as good as it gets. But, I think the place has potential and can offer more unique choices. Maybe I'll stop in again when in the area to see if anything changes.

This is the best sub shop that I've found in Washington County. It's a hidden gem tucked away in a nondescript strip mall in Aloha. Don't look for a Monkey Subs sign - it simply says Sub Shop. Everyone knows that the marker of great sub sandwich is the quality of the bread. Their bread is fresh-baked (they get it from another bakery) and is delicious. This is the first sub shop that I've been to where I actually think that the wheat bread tastes better than the white bread. All of the meats are carved to order (like they should be), the vegetables are fresh and the cheese is of deli quality. They have no seating inside (standing room only) but they will set out a couple of tables outside when the weather is nice. If it's a nice day, I'd take the subs to a nearby park like The Jenkins Estate anyways. Monkey Subs does just one thing - but they sure do it well.

If you're looking for a foofy "sub" on rosemary pesto focaccia; look elsewhere. But if you'd like a tasty sandwich done well; check this place out. Had the Barrel of Monkeys and it was pretty damn good. Ham seemed cheap but I didn't notice, and the sandwich was a nice balance between bread and fixin's. I'll be back when the mood strikes.

Having read other reviews on Yelp, we were excited to see that there was a good sub place very near our home in the middle of the Albertson's strip mall on 185th avenue. We walked in and they were playing fun, upbeat music that put you in a good mood. Ordered a few sandwiches including a Turkey club and a hot pastrami. The pastrami was very enjoyable and the bread tasted fresh. The Turkey was also good. There's nothing extraordinary or unique about the sandwiches, but they were high quality and satisfying.

Very small, small menu as well. The staff was very friendly. I wouldn't say the food was bad but I wouldn't say it was great either. It was a good, fresh, basic sandwich. Nothing out of the ordinary at this place. Good if you happen to be in the area and don't want Subway, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it.

Fantastic sandwiches! Best sub shop in town hands down. Bread and meats are always fresh.

I'm probably just spoiled from Jewish style delis during my time in LA (Canter's or Jerry's) where they pile the meat on as if it's your last meal, but I was pretty disappointed by the meager amount of meat placed on my sandwich. I wouldn't say that I'm a glutton, but I'd like a little more than a few thin-sliced layers. Maybe it's just the fat kid in me throwing a temper tantrum. Either way, the bread helps make up for it. It's still a good sandwich if you're not in the mood to make your own.

The bread here is wonderful. The meat is carved to order, and the veggies are all fresh and crispy. So why only 4 stars you ask? Because the service is bad. It's fast but the guys need to take some lessons on customer service. Very rude workers! I always go for the pastrami or BMT. They're so good that I've never tried anything else. But really, they need to work on their attitudes.

The subs speaks for its self. Meat sliced thin more than enough on it, properly seasoned and fresh bread. Im a believer !

Super yummy subs! I love that they slice it thin and fresh right there as you wait, and have some fun names for their different sandwiches. I was a little sad that they had less veggie options, but not surprised as it has an air of "This is a place where we make MAN subs. Men don't need a bunch of frou-frou veggie options." It's all about the meat and cheese here folks. They have a drink and chips meal combo but are a little pricey. As for this being a "hole-in-the-wall" joint is certainly true. It just says "Sub Shop" outside.I'm sure the line frequently goes out the door at lunch hour as there's not a lot of standing room. I was amazed to find out, upon chatting a bit with the owner, that they show up there at 4am to make HUNDREDS of subs for local schools. Kudos to the crew at Monkey Subs!

We were craving a good sub on the westside and came across Monkey's on Yelp. It is very small (no inside seating) but worth eating at home or in the car! The bread, meat and all other toppings were carved and cut fresh/made. I had a meatball sub (which I had been craving) and my hubby had the special turkey, bacon, avocado. Both of them were especially delicious! I am usually not a fan of turkey subs but the fresh avocado, bread and wonderful oil/vinegar mixture jut put it over the top. The owners were very friendly and made the orders with care. This place isn't gourmet I'd say it's the best sub shop on the westside, plain and simple.

Total Fan - awesome environment, tasty fresh bread and great mayo. I'd like them to have more seating though - this could be a downside to this location as they only have the ability to seat 3 or four tables outside.

This small little strip-mall sandwich shop is amazing! Their sandwiches are so delicious and the atmosphere is very non-pretentious. They do not have any indoor seating ... it's a small little shop, but they rock out to great music while they make your subs! The staff is great and the affordable subs are my favorite. If you're out in beaverton, try this place.

I used to go here all the time before cheerleading practice as a kid...and almost everyday for lunch in high school. The subs are competitively priced and taste a million times better than subway or quiznos. Not only is this an awesome local business, the subs are GREAT! ...Writing this review really makes me want a turkey sub.

My absolute fave place to get a sub. No sit down area, pretty much a dissmissable hole-in-the-wall, but its fantastic. Fresh sliced meat, great quality. Bar none, the best. Go!
