Blue bottle coffee in Oregon! Love this cafe for their wonderful coffee, nice and helpful staff, tasty quiches, yummy croissants, and more!! They try to do healthy as well. This is a lovely gem in Ashland. Thank you for all of the wonderful food and coffee.

Typical morning strolling Ashland. Cafe looked warm and inviting and we were cold so it was a perfect match. It was too cold for the puppy to sit outside so the Spouse volunteered to run her back to the cottage. The daughter and I entered to the warmth of air fragrant with yeast and coffee. The coffee is blue bottle so they use mysterious methods to make it and you should expect a wait. They are NOT Starbucks. We ordered the Spouse a coffee and ourselves hot chocolate. The Spouse arrived back before the beverages were arrived. We stepped up and placed our breakfast orders. Counter service was cheerful and helpful. Things started coming out at that point. The cocoa was both hot and rich and pretty with the heart and flower swirled in the foam. And not too sweet which was a bonus. The bagel was fresh and stuffed to a plump fullness with luscious lox and tasty accompaniments. Bacon was crisp and flavorful in the BLT. The boiled breakfast both looked beautiful with the brown egg and the robust toast. Good solid fare. And at the end of the meal the strawberry almond cream cake was a rich sinful indulgence. Not for those in a rush but a pleasant place for a relaxing morning meal. Music was mellow contemporary rock. Nothing was too estrogenated. It's all good at Café 116.

Perfect little cafe, not too expensive though portions aren't huge (which is fine). Delicious new orleans iced coffee.

I am in town visiting my parents and I have absolutely fallen in love with this place. We have been going in almost every day to grab coffee and sometimes a bite to eat. The service is friendly and prompt, and their coffee and lattes are delicious. I love the simple, yet elegant, atmosphere. The real winner is their breakfast croissant. Oh. My. God. I haven't had one this tasty since being at my favorite bakery in Australia (French Fantasies). The croissant melts in your mouth. And they bake their bacon! I have only found one other place that does this and it was in Sedona. I will definitely try to squeeze in a few more visits before I leave!

This is a popular little lunch & coffee shop that has a limited menu but the food is good. I like the quiches. The pastries are also very good.

Delicious baked goods, awesome breakfast sandwiches, great coffee and a very friendly waitstaff make this my go-to cafe in Ashland. I highly recommend Cafe 116 for coffee and/or a light bite to eat.

This bakery/coffee shop is really cute. It's got a much cooler vibe now than when it was Key of C. The people who work here are great-- very cheerful, helpful and friendly. I tried the veggie quiche and it is fantastic; I highly recommend it. I also had a cheese and scallion bagel (still made by Key of C owners) and it was also very good, and the coffee was delicious, brewed to order. This is a nice quiet place to chill out, have some good coffee, eat yummy eats, and enjoy the free wifi.

Read about the New Orleans coffee and had to give it a try. I got it iced with milk. Nice and smooth- perfect for a hot day!

You had me at CROISSANT!!! Damn that was a little taste of flaky, buttery goodness. Mmmm Admittedly, I have a weakness for fresh made pastries and their croissant is on par with my other favorites in town (Deux Chats & Mix). Add to that pour over coffee and there is my breakfast of choice. With a kitchen on site this isn't your average Ashland coffee house that sells food stuffs from other vendors. You can tell that the owners and chef's take pride in their preparations and offerings. I'll be back again and again to work my way through their varied menu.

Food was okay. Lunch menu is very small. Strawberry lemonade was great but was $4.25 and pretty small for the price. I had the turkey sandwich and it was good but wasn't anything I couldn't make at home pretty easy. Super small and cramped inside.

Bluebottle Coffee individually dripped to order and almond croissant like no other....

New kid on the block...worth a try Ashlanders are getting resigned to the recession taking its toll on their high street. Recently some old favorites have gone...Allyson's, Gepetto's and the newer Tease. Its tough out there. Frankly I was never a fan of the old Key of C: appallingly slow service and the same dreary formula of stodgy "health" bagels and quiche that was repetitive dull and predictable. Of course that is just what some folk want....so that was fine for them. It had its plusses, including peace and quiet, with a dedicated following for their weekly live music sessions.(not me - but lots of people went regularly) Now taking over an well established place can be difficult: look at Lela's restaurant on A street, killed off by out of town new owners who tried to replicate the Lela vibe without Lela...a disaster. So Key of C is now cafe 116. Not exactly an imaginative name. Bad start. Then the new owners pretty quickly alienated the music crowd by canceling the regular gig, but they re-charged the place with some sensible mods to the space, the furniture, and above all to the menu. This seems to me to be a positive energetic change and the Euro-bistro influence is refreshing - stodgy bagels replaced by scrummy ciabatta sandwiches to order, and a lively quick service that is worlds away from the morgue like Key of C. Its a great spot for a quiet lunch hour and a decent (non Noble) coffee. Also, I love the fact they are open till 6. In Ashland decent coffee shops seem to close at 4.00 pm. (Noble, Case, Coffee roasters)Now you can get a decent java after work without fighting OSF tourists on the plaza at Mix. Check it out. I am going back. I heard they are going for a booze license ...interesting ...so watch this space for follow up report, but at the moment its promising and definitely an upgrade on the previous in my book. 3 stars and facing forward.

Love this place! It was so awesome having my favorite coffee ever (Blue Bottle from SF) in Ashland when I lived here!! Their pastries are amazing. You have to try the almond croissant. Only complaint: If you know that pastry is popular, make more!!

Still loving these guys - I just learned about their "New Orleans Iced Coffee" and I'm an addict. This stuff is amazing - it's a cold brewed coffee that I add half-n-half to. By far the best iced coffee in town.

Holy cow, all I have to say is croissants! Made from scratch, I think they are the best in town. And I agree with the other reviewer about the New Orleans Iced Coffee, and I should know because I used to live there. What a great summer treat.

By their signage, decor, and location, each of the cafes in Ashland tend to exude a certain unique vibe. Cafe 116, by virtue of it being next to a hair salon and clothing store, and it's blue partly-cursive signage and frilly awning, kept me away for a little while simply b/c it seemed too feminine for my taste. But I was downtown, and wanted to get some work done and drink some coffee, and between Cafe 116 (too emasculating), Evo's Coffee Lounge (too masculating--I swear, every time I walk by that place, I expect to see a fight spill out into the parking lot), I felt more comfortable, er, less uncomfortable, walking into Cafe 116. Well, the decor matches the signage: soft blue curvy (suggestive?) patterned wallpaper, patterned chair covers, fresh flower at each table, delicate outdoor furniture, music played at low volume, no men in the cafe either behind the counter or sitting down--a veritable oasis of softness. I placed my usual order of a small decaf and found out that they don't offer any. "We don't have brew coffee here. We've got decaf Americano." Oh, okay, um, sure I'll have that. It was good. Had to look up what one was on Wikipedia (I'm a beginner coffee drinker; it's espresso with hot water). Ordered the quiche on display under the counter, and it was yummy. Coffee took 3 mins to come out, quiche took 10 mins. Everything is dripped fresh or baked warm. Impressive. After a bit of sitting, I felt more comfortable, and stayed for the rest of the morning. Other less neurotic men did eventually enter and hang out. The menu here is very extensive for a cafe: breakfast, lunch, and salads. A good selection of baked goods. Fresh squeezed juice. Even wine and beer! So, after my initial trepidation, I was won over. It's the best cafe downtown has to offer. Although, to be fair, I have yet to hit (or be hit in) Evo's.

Nice atmosphere, friendly staff and most importantly Excellent coffee! I just wish they were open later...

The coffee was decent but kind of a hoity-toity atmosphere. Techno music @ 8 am combined with the inability to deliver a custom ordered coffee drink left us feeling like they were offering a like it or leave it ambiance. Won't go back.

We happened on this place completely by chance and decided to go in because it looked so appealing. The room is light and airy with high ceilings, white woodwork and tiled floors. This is a place-your-order-and-pick-it-up-at-the-counter kind of restaurant. The line was long, but the woman taking orders was attentive and enthusiastic with each patron. We ordered a Caprese sandwich, chilled melon soup and a micro-brew. Beverages can be the canary in the coal mine for meal quality, so it was a good sign when the beer was excellent. We are a bit tough to please, being die-hard Guinness fans, but this dark brew had a lot to recommend it. The sandwich was flavorful, fresh in all its parts, and seasoned with balsamic vinegar in just the right amount. The extraordinary aspect of the meal was the chilled melon soup. Honeydew, lime juice, grated lime peel, a hint of mint served with plain yogurt and a mint leaf. Transcendent! The prefect blend of favors for a hot summer's day. This spot is clearly worth a purposeful revisit.

Driving thru Ashland we stopped at "Key of C" several times in the past and loved the coffee. We were disappointed to see it had "left"....However, we were relieved to see that the "new" place still served coffee drinks. About a year ago we were there (cafe 116) and stopped for a latte and discovered that they serve "Blue Bottle" coffee. Anyone from the San Fran area knows that it's the best in their town. We, being Seattlites, are always looking for the best brew (definitely not Starbucks fans). Stopped by again this past weekend and had a great double tall latte and an Americano. We haven't tried any of the food (looked delicious!), but I have a feeling this place gets overlooked for coffee because it has more of a cafe feel. I also like that it's a bit away from the college ;) Sometime we might try Noble because of the great reviews, but I don't see how it can get any better than what we had here. And, they do a great job on the coffee art as well!

Wonderful European flavor Cafe! Their breakfast croissant is flaky and buttery and just what croissants should be. (NOT a Costco flabby greasy thing!) The egg, cheese and bacon are perfect with it. The coffee pour-overs are smooth and delicious. The music is modern singer songwriter and cool old-timey stuff sometimes. The little outdoor patio is a nice retreat in the heat of summer and the indoor seating is comfortable and convenient. They also have great salads and sandwiches and there are Gluten-free options! The barristas are unfailingly friendly and helpful too! A great experience every time. Now that I have written this review I am thinking I should delete it so its doesn't get so busy I can't find a table!

Have been coming here for years on vacation but this time (Aug. ,2015) seem to have hit a bad patch. Been here 3 times and staff seems disorganized. Come in and two baristas engaged in what must be an important conversation continue while I wait at counter for 3-4 minutes for them to finish. Then they have no regular coffee, 9am, so I wait for them to be new pot. Drink that coffee and go for another and again they are out. Get a frittata heated with cold center. 7 people at tables so not overly busy. Will be trying Starbucks next time . I am slow learner.

Small space, very good food, and very nice folks behind the counter. It's small, so if you're there in the lunch rush, you might have a wait, but we liked that it was out of the general throngs of summer in Ashland.

Just got a chance to check this little place out on my dad-daughter date. I was not disappointed! Absolutely wonderful :) I wish the egg had been soft-boiled in the boiled egg breakfast, but really, everything was lovely! The hot chocolate-- TO DIE FOR. Perfect. A lot like RoCo's with the shaved dark chocolate and the steamed milk! Not sweet, but that's the way it should be! All about that chocolate! The almond-chai scone was awesome, too! A day old and reduced price. The barista was a sweetheart, too. We came right at closing, but she made us feel welcome regardless. Atmosphere is great. Very small and comfortable! Check it out :) --- I came here again and everything was great-- except there was a salad mix-up because the new employee wasn't familiar with sizing. So it seemed we were way overcharged. What is amazing about this, though, is that all it took was a phone call explaining the situation to the sweet woman, and BAM-- we got a new salad free of charge. It wasn't just the free salad that made us happy, but the way in which she handled the situation-- with impressive grace and understanding. This place is even better now in my eyes-- they clearly hire truly great people! Thanks to Caitlin (sp?) for being awesome!

Cafe 116 is the successor to the Key of C. I guess the former business' specialty bagel feature had limited appeal. Cafe 116 is another superior coffee alternative to the nearby Starbucks. I still like Noble better, notwithstanding the New Orleans Iced Coffee. However, it does have comfortable seating (albeit in a smallish space), Wi-Fi, and really tasty pastries from breakfast and sandwiches and such for lunch.

The croissant breakfast sandwich was great. Lynne croissant Just the right bit of crunchy and buttery. The veggies were fresh. The price was just right. The lox bagel was good also. The salmon tasted fresh and just the right amount of capers and cream cheese.

Thought I would stop in here because I've heard so much about blue bottle. Waited 20 minutes for a plain cup of drip coffee. Ridiculous!! Poorly run. And the coffee was ok but not nearly as good as Capricorn (San Francisco).
