One of the best place for a homemade burger. Must have a slice a pie for dessert!

Horribly overrated. Just because it's a local institution doesn't mean they can serve limp, wet fries. OK, maybe they can, but I don't like it. Schmucker's sucks ass.

Oh my goodness you have to be careful when you order. They have this chocolate/peanut butter type pie here, a slice of that and I thought I was floating to heaven. It was a generous slice, I usually don't like to much sweets, but I ate this one until my belly ached. And it was worth it.

Very friendly service, but very limited vegetarian selections.

Pie. It's all about the pie. Hefty, sloppy homemade pies with real, flaky crusts rolled out by human hands. But prep your palate a little bit first by indulging in a big, greasy cheeseburger. They do them well here. Once you've had your meat, you can turn your attention to your sweet, and I think you're probably going to want Strawberry Rhubarb. This old-style Old Country diner has been here since looooooong before the jam company in Orrville made a different variation on the name famous nationwide.

Schmucker's is a throwback to the 50's. It's building and decor is authentic and well maintained. They do diner fare with gusto. Portions are huge ( chicken and biscuits, gargantuan ) and the warm cherry pie a la mode is great. A friendly stop along the way from Chicago to the east coast.

I called in and ordered a fresh strawberry rubbarb pie. Picked it up this morning. The Managment was very nice and helpful and everyone loved it!

Driving through Ohio while road tripping out east, we happened upon this gem of a diner. In desperate need of a quaint spot to fill our tummies and stretch our legs, Schmucker's was just right. We ordered: -ham and cheese omelet -bacon -sunny up eggs with ham -biscuit -wheat toast -cheeseburger with fries -club sandwich with fries (basically four sandwiches stacked atop each other) -pecan pie (sweet, nutty, syrupy goodness) When a place has been around since 1948, you know they've got something special. While the breakfast and diner fare we experienced was good, it was the slice of pecan pie that made Schmucker's really memorable.

Stopped in last night for two slices of pie and two scoops of ice cream to go. The slices were nice and big! We got pecan and vanilla peanut butter. They were both very good and fresh, I finished the peanut butter for breakfast and it was so good. Do yourself a favor and stop in for the best pie in Toledo!

After an early morning meeting was cancelled I had some spare time and a growling stomach so I decided to check out Schucker's, it being a Toledo legend and all. The neon sign by the road flashing "GOOD FOOD" and the squatty white brick box of a building (fairly common for diners that sprung up in the middle of the last century, it seems) had me expecting sheer retro goodness as I walked in the door. Ordered the "Rise & Shine," eggs, sausage, and pancakes, and found myself treated to sheer mediocrity. I got my eggs scrambled and they were on the dry side. Sausage wasn't bad flavorwise but soooo greasy--the words "seasoned fatstick" popped into my head as I finished the first. Pancakes were a little rubbery. I've had worse, but I'm not going to rush back.

We stopped here for breakfast on the way to Michigan to see the family for Thanksgiving. Our server was great and the we received our food very quickly. They were super busy with pie pickups and we were lucky enough to grab a French Apple pie for the road. They hand make several thousand varieties during the holidays. It was a hit with my family, even among a sea of the other pies they already had.

Pretty awesome little diner when you're in the mood for breakfast or comfort food. Very casual, old-style diner atmosphere with pretty good food. A few times the food has been a little overcooked, but it's not been enough to make me complain (and they were super busy at the times it happened). Staff is friendly and remembers you. I was studying in there the first time I went in and I came in again maybe a week or two later with one of the staff members asking me how I did on my exam. I get the impression they treat their regulars well, but I've not been enough to be considered as such. In time... In time.

Amazing food! Delicious fries and very affordable pricing. The environment is something to truly cherish.

5 stars for pie...2 stars for everything else (maybe 3 for breakfast). The pies are unmatched...always lots of variety and delicious! Purchasing a whole pie makes an occasion very special. Vanilla Peanut Butter is my favorite year-round, with Strawberry being my summertime seasonal favorite. The rest of the food is kinda yucky. Many things come from a can & have no flavor. The "Wimpy Burger" is pretty good, but the French fries are lacking in the texture & flavor department. I think a lot of things come from a can. Breakfast at the counter is basic but good. I always buy a slice of pie to take home!

After reading some of the other reviews, this was a huge disappointment! A small, and very dated establishment. Some would say that is charm and others might say in need of repair. I sat at the counter directly across from the flat top and fryers were located. I watched at 2 different people worked that area and one gathered raw bacon on placed in her left hand, used her right to close the food drawer and open the next. Then she reached in that food drawer using her left hand still holding the bacon and grabbed some thick sliced bologna. One of the slices dropped into another compartment and she actually reached in with her left hand holding the raw bacon and bologna to grip the other slice. There were items strewn all along what looked like a salad prep table and the cutting table used for pies looked like someone took a bunch of unwanted pie crust and crumbled it on that counter. No one used gloves when handling pies and some of the staff would get more than one pie out at a time wiped the spatula off with their ungloved hand only to use it for the next slice! There was pieces of what looked like discarded french fries underneath the flat top and it did not appear to be well maintained. I was really looking forward to trying this place out but I will not return. An astounding 2 thumbs down!!!

Americanca through and through. Step back in time for a real burger and hand cut fries...you know fries that you want to slather with ketchup and sprinkle malt vinegar on. You can also chose from a couple stick to your ribs specials. Beef and noodles or country fried steak were the specials and they looked so good. We stuck with the traditions and ordered a wimpy burger and piece of butterscotch pie. Great service. You will have to wait for a table mostly likely any time of the day. Breakfast specials looked great too. We also ordered a side of potato salad...so good!! The cup of chicken and noodle soup was great.

Got oysters for dinner. Oysters were deep fried which was good to cover up that they are frozen. Still had a good taste to them though. French fries are really good. With my meal got a bowl of chili. That was the most disappointing part of the meal. Chili had no real chili taste and very under seasoned. However it did have a good thickness to it so there is potential. They are home made and taste fresh and yummy. Got a Dutch Apple pie. Pie is amazing and yummy. Will come back but probably get something more basic for dinner like a hamburger. All in all for value for money and the amazing desert it is a great place to eat and make it into a monthly rotation for going out to eat.

  • Jesi O.

Food is simple but good. Pie it EXCELLENT. Honestly I could go and just get the pie which is saying a lot since I never buy dessert out. The biggest downside is that there is always a line and we end up sitting at the counter because there are never tables/booths open.

Stopped in just after 5am for a hot cup of coffee... Was pleasantly surprised by getting a meatloaf burger with a fried egg on it. What a great breakfast to go! It was a tase of home! Nearly a 1.5" thick tender meatloaf that was seasoned just right topped with a grill fried egg. Just enough ketchup to keep the two together on a toasted burger bun. It's not on the menu - I asked for it and they made it without question. I will definitely order another the next time I come through the area.

Schmucker's is diner food at its best. I have frequented this establishment for dinner and pie before - both excellent (recommend the meatloaf, and pretty much any pie!), but never for breakfast! As my husband and I do not yet have a "place" for weekend breakfast (we have tried many), we decided to finally give breakfast a try!!! Luckily for me, the Irish Omlette was the special this morning!!! I LOVE Irish Omlettes, and wanted to see if it stacked up to the Mayberry Diner version. It definitely did. It was fabulous. My husband is a huge pancake critic, and said these could be the best pancakes in Toledo! I tried a bite to confirm his findings, and they are indeed delicious. The service was great! I love the ladies that are the waitresses there, they are fun characters! Sitting at the counter is the best :) I gave my five star rating due to the eclectic atmosphere great quality diner food! This is not gourmet, but if you are looking for solid comfort food that fills you to the brim, you are going to the right place! Looks like we found a new breakfast haunt :)

Found Schmuckers in a list of 10 places to eat in Toledo. They were right. Place was packed, no where to sit. An elderly couple waved us over to join them. They are regulars eating their at least once a week. Liked everything they tried. Ken ordered the perch sandwich with a side of onion rings. Homemade, definitely. Paige and I shared the roast beef with mashed and lots of gravy and 2 sides. Chose the salad and corn. Fed the 2 of us with enough for another day. Now the reason it's on the top 10 list: the pies. Over 15 homemade pies to choose from. Marie was disappointed they are out of the lemon meringue-her favorite. Ken got the pecan, Paige chocolate and me apple caramel walnut. Amazing! The pieces were a 1/4 of the pie. The pastry paper thin and flaky. My pie melted in my mouth. Paige said the chocolate was a little bitter but that's because she ate the whipped cream off the top. Staff were friendly, nice and gracious. Even helped us pay for Larry and Marie's dinner as a surprise. We are planning are vacation for next summer and it will include another visit.

Schmucker's is the diner that other diners dream of being. Whenever I'm back in my hometown, I stop by, usually multiple times. I used to stop by here for late night coffee and pie at least every week, and breakfast several times a month. That's how good the food is and how welcoming the environment is. In this beautiful, classically-designed diner, breakfast is served all day and made-from-scratch is the rule, not the exception. I was proud to take my New England relatives here most recently, and they loved it as much as I did. The "Sunrise Special Plus" I ordered (an egg, bacon, home fries, and a biscuit with sausage gravy) is a perfectly-sized meal for a late breakfast. The egg was exactly as I ordered it (over medium), the bacon crispy, and the biscuit smothered in homemade gravy, complete with chunks of sausage. Meanwhile, my uncle and I agree that they are the best part of the breakfast here. They're sliced thin and fried up on the grill, studded with onions that add wonderfully to the flavor. Exactly the salty goodness you want at breakfast. I also highly endorse the meatloaf here (big, thick slices, very hearty), but that's another story for another review. Of special note here is pie. Schumucker's makes upwards of 30 pies fresh every day. I usually get the coconut cream, which is wonderfully thick, yet light and fluffy, and full of rich coconut. I can also highly recommend the caramel-apple-walnut, the butterscotch (a.k.a. "scutterbotch"), and the vanilla- and chocolate-peanut-butter pies. Oh yeah, pecan and blueberry are quite good, too. And if you see raspberry cream, it's to die for. Slices are cheap ($3-$4), especially considering that they're several inches high and each slice is a sixth of a full-sized pie. They also sell whole pies. The kitchen crew have service down to a science, cracking eggs at light speed and remembering every order specification, no matter how small. Super-friendly, too. I haven't been a regular in years, since I moved to Portland, but several of them still recognize me and chat after all these years. Schmucker's is a real gem. A place whose food is cheap, filling, and delicious, and whose atmosphere exemplifies what a good diner can be. I would recommend it to anyone. I wish there were more places like Schmucker's in the world.

Hollywood could not create a better American diner set nor cast better waitresses. And yes the term waitress better defines the friendly and attentive women. Server is much too arrogant and indifferent. The food is diner food that one hopes to find but rarely does. I regret when in Toledo I frequented Tony Packo's, but those days ended after my first lunch here. I had a hamburger that tasted like ones my mother made so many years ago. I usually pass on french fries as I am a bit spent with fries and cole slaw served as sides with everything in Ohio. My friend told me to get the fries and for the first time I ate every one. I took a slice of the peanut butter chocolate pie with me. It took two attempts to finish it as it was huge, rich and really delicious. The crust did not get soggy even after two days in my refrigerator. It appears there are many regulars that the waitresses treat like kin. Would be nice to belong here.

I've driven by this place many times but never stopped in. It's a small diner that doesn't appear to be much from the outside but has pretty decent food at a good price. I love the homemade fries. The strawberry lemonade is super sweet! I was too full after my meal to try one of their pies but my friend bought one pie to take home and it looked amazing! I definitely need to go back to taste test the pies!

I always loved schmucker`s, and the place hasn't changed since I first went there as a kid. Every fall I crave their pecan pie, so I went there yesterday with my mom and was not disappointed. A good waitress will bring an extra plate when a customer says they are planning on splitting an entree, but a great server will split the meal between two plates

Here's the thing. This place has 5-star service. The waitress was an older lady who was really nice to us. She brought out our orders with a smile and did the same while bringing ranch dressing. The sirloin steak burger (first item on the menu) wasn't good, but I really wanted to like it. The fries were fresh, but not crispy to how i wanted them. They were a little soggy. Also I'm not huge into the pies, but those were pretty good as well. They deserve a higher star rating than my burger/fry rating though So 3 stars what does that mean. A-OK. on the yelp scale. To elaborate, if someone asked me if would go with them, I'd say yes! I wouldn't recommend the place though. Gotta try more places!

For good home style cooked meals at a reasonable price this is the place. The customer service is great, breakfast, lunch and dinner menu is excellent

This is one of those little places that you can probably drive by 20 times and not notice. One day you stop in, and you are hooked. They have some of the friendliest people working there. The place gets packed very often. Sometimes you see customers sharing tables with strangers. Its like a small town diner got dropped in a big city. Prices are so cheap, you almost wonder how it's possible because the food is so good!

Yummy breakfast. Bacon, eggs, potatoes, toast and coffee. As close to Grandma's cooking as you'll find in the Toledo area. Didn't even have room for pie. ( will stop back). Need to think healthy foods the rest of the day,,,

Visited Toledo in mid-October for a weekend getaway. Schmuckers was our Saturday mid-morning stop for breakfast and we loved it! There were no seats available when we arrived but 2 of the regulars called us over to sit with them. We had a fantastic breakfast and a fun time chatting with our table-mates. I will always go here whenever in Toledo and am looking forward to trying the pie!

Have been going to Schmucker's for over 60 years. Good food and *great* pies and coffee.

  • David Y.

This is a great family diner where you can readily find neighbors and friends. I doubt much has changed in the place from the last 30 years and nothing really needs to. The food is good, the prices low, and the service friendly. Everything you'll need to start off your day right. I had the breakfast burrito special ($5) which comes with the burrito, home fries and coffee (I got tea). My only gripe would be the burrito needs to have more than a tortilla, eggs, and cheese. It could have beans, rice, peppers, onions, olives, or anything else. With just eggs and cheese, its a little boring. I particularly love the old school phone booth which the restaurant uses to answer takeout orders. Awesome.

  • Robin C.

Hadn't been here for several years and was pleased when I had the opportunity to visit again. I ordered the chicken and biscuits with mashed potatoes. Food came quickly, was hot, and there was a lot if it. The taste was excellent, however as huge as the portion was there was about as much chicken as there is in a couple of McDonalds chicken McNuggets. It was all potatoes, biscuits, and chicken gravy.

  • Clay C.

I really love the atmosphere of this place. There are very few places like this any more, especially in Toledo where chain restaurants have nearly overwhelmed the landscape. Schmuckers has been around for over 50 years and the decor has not changed too much since then. Normally this would be a complaint, but in a diner like Schmucker's you expect this nostalgic feel. You know what you will get every time. The food may not be the most impressive from a culinary standpoint, but it hits the spot. However, I must say that the pies are very overrated. With all the hype about the pies on Yelp, I was really expecting something top notch. Not bad pie, but not what I hoped for.

  • Becky B.

It was our first time visiting Schmuckers - but by half-way through the meal, it seemed like our waiter, Jack, was about to become our new best friend. He was friendly and casual, and kept us filled up on drinks. He even filled up two to-go cups of ice tea for the road. I echo everyone else's comments - good food, good pie - but it was the service that made it shine for me. Thanks Jack!

Atmosphere is the old style and the food is not worth the trip. Actually the food is pretty bad. Only come here to get pies.

    (3)
  • Griffin W.

It was very, very good. Even though it was busy, the service was quick. One person got chicken tenders, another got chicken and biscuit. She got lunch size and she could barely hold it up. Another got a perch sandwich, and another a cheeseburger. I got the mac 'n' cheese and it was DELICIOUS! the sign outside fits perfectly!

    (5)
  • Victor W.

The breakfast is top notch. Delicious dishes, omelets that aren't too dry or too greasy, and a very friendly atmosphere. The only thing that is a hit or miss are the pies. There are some that are amazing, while others can be severely lacking.

    (4)
  • Gregg C.

What a terrific diner. The servers seem to know everyone and welcomed patrons by name! Veggie burger was good and the Dutch Apple pie was really good. A friendly and warm ambience, good food and reasonable prices.

Coming from CA, this was the first time I tried real midwest homestyle cooking and I was satisfied. Prices were cheap and portions were decent sized. I had some burger + fries and it was like $4-5. The burger was mediocre sized but surprisingly very clean. I usually have trouble with those ginormous burgers that come all apart but this burger was well balanced and that alone gives it 3 stars. But as the other reviews have noted, it's the pie that this place is famous for. I was recommended a chocolate and peanut butter pie (I've never had a non-fruit pie) and I was floored. I couldn't eat more than half of it but it was really really damn good and my leftovers made for a nice breakfast the next day =).

  • Jen S.

Delicious, affordable, humble, friendly... it's what home cooking is all about. No one in Toledo does it better. Please eat a piece of pie for me.

    (4)
  • Rebecca W.

I no longer live in Toledo, but every time I'm home to visit the family, I always have to visit Schmucker's for a cheese burger with fries and a piece of the chocolate peanut butter pie! It's a great, small diner that hasn't changed since it opened. It's not huge, so you may have to wait for a table, but it's definitely worth the wait and the pie! Just so you know, it's best to split a piece of pie though because they cut HUGE slices! Check this place out if you want a great diner burger, fries, and a sweet treat!

Wanting to contribute to the rate of obesity in Toledo and willing to risk food poisoning, a friend and I stopped by Schmucker's for an early lunch. One look at the building and you'll see the reason as to why I haven't stepped foot inside in my 100+ times of passing this diner -- until now. First of, seating is limited to a few booths and tables, plus a few bar stools. Daily specials and featured pies are scrawled above the kitchen area. The menu is quite plain and simple in that it offers your typical diner favorites. I opted for the eggs, bacon, and pancake special while my friend decided on corned beef hash with eggs and home fries. Both orders came with complimentary coffee, which was always instantly refilled before hitting the half cup mark. How's that for stellar (and friendly) service? Both dishes were good, although on second thought, it is quite difficult to screw up eggs, pancakes, and whatnot. However the highlight of our meal was the chocolate peanut butter pie, aka Schmucker's signature pie. One slice could easily feed two, or even three. Whipped, sugary, and rich, yet still light of a dessert, this could easily make my Top 10 list of favorite pies. Whether you claim that Schmucker's is the place for breakfast or solely for its pies, one thing holds true: it is, without a doubt, the best 'Cheap Eat' in town. That, and the fact that you should set aside at least three hours of exercise after a slice of the infamous chocolate peanut butter pie.

What an interesting and wonderful experience! Yelp reviews led us here while we were in the area, and so happy we found it! The food, atmosphere, and people are all outstanding. A family-owned, friendly, quality place, full of history. We had breakfast (yum!) and took home several pieces of pie - can't say enough about how great this place was for comfort food and friendly people. Plus you may get on the news like we did - local news channels use the restaurant often for "man on the street" interviews!

A local joint for breakfast, good ambiance, very nice pan cakes (blueberry) and sausage patties are awesome! If you ever travel through Toledo, or even if you're local, I highly recommend this place!

  • Nikki M.

Amazing food! The lunch portion is a lot of food but I splurged and got the full course! I wanted to try a little of everything! It was well worth it! Huge dinner salad, cottage cheese, home fries were tasty and went well with my chicken. Then there was the Pie!!! I had the strawberry!!!! Amazing! The regular apple and Dutch apple were both tasty and the pecan was perfect! If you're in the area this is a must try! Oh and most important...jessica our server was sweet and patient with us, and our bill was super cheap considering all the food, drinks, and pie!!!

This is a great little diner, full of character. It is reasonably priced, The portions are good and the food quality is good. Its small and you have to wait inside near where people sit or in the entrance where people see you which is awkward, but it is always worth it. They are famous for pies but everything I have eaten over the years was good. They are not open Sundays but I always love eating there. It is a local institution open since the 1940's.

Best diner food in NW Ohio large menu BEST homemade pies and friendly staff. Breakfast, seafood, meatloaf, burgers..you name it they make it!

  • Taylor R.

Ok let's be honest. The food is awful. Its frozen reheated food. Nothing is fresh. The only thing good here is Gidget who I love. The pies are ok but I could get the same pie at Kroger. Its extremely over rated. My husband got breakfast here and had melted plastic in his potatoes. I wish I could love a local family business but it's just not good.

I have traveled the world and must say this is the best pie I have ever had...huge slice of coconut cream and banana cream....makes me wonder as many times that I been here no local has ever shared ....it's a great hidden gem...try this place...will miss the pie

  • Mike P.

I heard someone say the burgers patties here are not thick enough. GOOD, I say! If I wanted spherical burgers, I'd order a meatball sub. I've tried the sirloin burger and the double Wimpy platter. The burgers ARE pressed thin, and they ARE a little crispy around the edges. I understand that not everybody likes burgers this way, but personally, I do. I have to agree that the fries were not that great. Skip 'em. Burnt, yet, soggy. I've also finished my son's hot roast beef sandwich. It was damn good. It wasn't as good as Red Well's used to be, but then again, Red Well's isn't as good as Red Well's used to be. Large menu with lots of classic selections such as Swiss steak, meatloaf, chicken over biscuits, etc. Pretty much everything sounded good. Everything I saw on the other tables looked good, too! The service was excellent. I'll definitely be back to try some more of the entrees. Of course, they are know for pies...

A rarity among classic diners. Great food, made with care. Pleasant atmosphere and terrific service, all at very reasonable prices. Run, do not walk to this place!

Seriously amazing pie. My friend and I made a pitstop here while passing through Toledo on a cross-country road trip, and ended up having two huge slices of pie a la mode. Their strawberry-related pies are seasonal, so be warned that a small portion of their menu will be unavailable if you go in the wintertime as we did. Nonetheless, Schmucker's had the best crumb-top apple pie and crumb-top rhubarb pie that we'd each ever had. The waitress was friendly and very helpful with recommendations as well, and the diner has a bright, homey look and feel that made us feel like we were getting a warm hug away from the cold, snowy night. While we didn't order any actual food, suffice it to say that we did not feel at all like we had missed out on anything that night by subsisting on Schmucker's pies alone, and we'd do it just the same if ever we find ourselves in Toledo again!

  • Jillian F.

I've only tried their pie but it's as good as it gets. My husband is a chocolate lover and he loved the chocolate peanut butter pie. I had a small bite and it was delicious but be prepared it's very rich! I tried the classic Dutch Apple pie with a small scoop of vanilla ice cream. The apple pie was delicious as well and I always love a good homemade crust. I'll have to go back for dinner now or maybe just more pie.

I used to go to this place when i was a kid. Since moving to a city with many great restaurants and types of food (Phoenix), I had forgot how good Schmucker's traditional diner food is. Of course the pie is awesome, but so is most of the food. And the little touches of Americana like the restaurant's phone being located in the old phone booth add to the feeling of nostalgia. Just wish they were open on Sundays.

I stopped by with a group of friends after a visit to the Botanical Gardens. I'm upset with myself that I haven't been here before. The restaurant was packed - we were there for almost two hours enjoying our lunch and even though it was way past the "lunch rush", people were still waiting to get in and seated. I had the "Wimpy Platter" - double cheeseburger with REAL fries. It wasn't too big and the price was right. My friends opted for meals varied such as the roast beef, grilled cheese, and fish sandwich. All were happy with their meals. And then came the pies. I needed a nap after lunch. I had the chocolate peanut butter pie. About halfway through - I had my fill, but finished it. Open M-Sa 5a-11pm, Closed on Sundays

If you want chocolate...go to Willy Wonka's Factory...if you want pie....really good pie....Head to Schmuckers! Heck no...she's not fancy, but she doesn't have to be...It's kinda like when you meet this really good looking person and then their partner walks up...they are nothing to look at...so ya wonder...what have they got on the inside? Yep...She is like that. Not fancy surrounding...basic tables, chairs and bar stools...but place a spoonful of pie in that cake hole and all negativity will vanish! LOL There is something magically about ole Schmucker's...you cannot tell someone about it....they have to feel it for themselves. It is special.

Just a really nice, homey diner! Nothing fancy, except the pies. I usually get the meatloaf, mashed potatos, gravy over everything, and some horseradish on the side. My doctor would probably hate the place... After the second visit, the staff know you.

After years of passing this place on the way to my sister's dance lessons, I finally insisted that my family try it. Everyone doubted my sanity, but something told me that this place was special. It was, and it still is. If you look up "greasy spoon" in the dictionary, Schmucker's surely would be the illustration. They have daily specials, all that I love, including macaroni and cheese, chicken and biscuits, and hot roast beef sandwich. They come served with a salad, and those yellow cafeteria rolls. And the pies....let me just say I still think about the Snickers pie a decade after I sampled it! Please go, it is wonderful.

We moved from Toledo to Hawaii a couple of years ago. Schmucker's is one of the few things we regret having to leave behind (college football games in the fall and snow at winter time are the others). Schmucker's is a classic mid-western diner that has changed little since its founding in 1948. I'm not a big fan of the pies - they overdue it on the corn starch, so some of the pies are kind of rubbery, but the breakfasts are out of this world. Order the home fries with onions and eggs over easy or sunny side up. There is simply nothing like it in Hawaii.

If you are looking for a beautiful atmosphere with fancy decor, please do not go to Schmuckers! If you are looking for a delicious meal in an interesting setting with good crowd watching head on down! Schmuckers is small and always busy. They are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I usually get their cheeseburger and fries and they are simple, delicious, and wonderful. I had a fried egg & sausage breakfast sandwich the last time I was there and it was oh-so-good! The pie is fresh-made and amazing; my favorite is the dutch apple with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. You can order by the slice or order a whole pie (call a day in advance, two to three days for holiday orders). My daughter & best friends' son love it here - they get free cookies with their kids meals! A fun place for kids and adults of all ages!

My wife and I met my brother here for lunch. The place was crowded but we got a table pretty quickly . This is a very traditional diner with nothing exceptional on the menu. Our meals took a long time to be prepared and not a one of us finished our meal. The food was poorly prepared. Obviously we had room for dessert which proved to disappointing as well. A long of pies was available but the ones we ordered were just sad excuses for a quality dessert. Skip this place if it is the meal that is important. Luckily for us it was the company we were with .

Toledo staple and great American greasy spoon. I grew up in a neighborhood adjacent to Schmucker's, and throughout my childhood, my family and I became regulars. The Whimpyburger (which is huge, despite its name) and the goulash are popular here. If you don't order a delicious milkshake with your meal, you definitely have to make sure you save room for pie. There's always a pretty massive selection of pies and the slices are gigantic. If it's strawberry season, grab a slice of strawberry!

this is a must stop whenever I get back home to visit my family and friends. They have the most incredible homemade pies, everything I've had has been great. I'm stuck in my rut, I get my Whimpyburger, fries and of course chocolate peanut butter pie. You gotta go here, if you like good old comfort food, this is the place in Toledo.

You have to love Schmuckers, it's one of the last true diners in town that's actually a quality place to eat, if you want a good ol' fashioned hearty meal. Don't expect anything fancy or overdone, this is a simple old school place that's got the feel of a classic '50s dinner. Expect great breakfast, tasty open-face roast beef and mashed potatoes dinner, and home of the Wimpy Burger! A classic, old fashioned hamburger with no frills. The atmosphere is charming, the food is good, and the PIE IS A MUST! In fact, pie is what this place is probably best known for (that and their sweet retro sign). Strawberry (in season) and the Chocolate Peanut Butter pies are total winners - huge slices! So, save room. Also, you get a free slice of pie on your birthday - mark your calendar.

This pace has existed in Toledo forever. I used to go here all through undergrad, then when ever I could while visiting my family and friends in Toledo. The biggest draw is the pie. There are tons of flavors and often the menu changes for what is offered each day, do don't be too disappointed if your favorite is not in that day, though you can always call ahead and reserve and entire pie to take with you. The menu is a typical diner menu, and the food is average but nothing special. The breakfast menu is better than the rest of the day, and if I remember correctly from December, most of the menu is served all day, but not pancakes. I come here for tradition; you should stop in for the pie.

Oh my goodness you have to be careful when you order. They have this chocolate/peanut butter type pie here, a slice of that and I thought I was floating to heaven. It was a generous slice, I usually don't like to much sweets, but I ate this one until my belly ached. And it was worth it.

In time... In time.

Atmosphere is the old style and the food is not worth the trip. Actually the food is pretty bad. Only come here to get pies.

Awesome.

The breakfast is top notch. Delicious dishes, omelets that aren't too dry or too greasy, and a very friendly atmosphere. The only thing that is a hit or miss are the pies. There are some that are amazing, while others can be severely lacking.
