Not only was this the best Gyro I have ever had, it was an AUTHENTIC Greek gyro. Plus the fires are real fries, not the crappy fast food kind. The staff and owner are the nicest, sweetest people. The food alone is worth the travel.

Yorgo's is a quaint Greek eatery that specializes in over-stuffed baked potatoes and gyros. The owner is the cook, and you can usually find him sitting at a table marked "Reserved" while not behind the griddle. The baked potatoes have a variety of stuffers, including the usual fair, but you can choose to do a "Gyro Potato" and stuff it with the contents of their signature gyro. The gyros here are made with the traditional lamb-mixture, but the Yorgo's cuts it in big, thick strips, as opposed to many places that merely shear off a bit of meat. You are provided with a knife and fork and trust me, you do need it! The sauce is a little different if you have never eaten tzatzki sauce, then you will be greeted with a welcome but brisk bite. Most American style gyros are made with a "cucumber" sauce made with sour cream, but this is traditional Greek tzatzki, with strained yogurt in place of the sour cream. If you are awake early enough, the breakfast is great and you can even get a "Gyro Omelette". Highly recommended!!!

Ah one of the precious gems in Steubenville. Steubenville has both a rich Italian and Greek heritage. Most Franciscan students know about the great Italian restaurant- scaffidis but few know its counterpart the great Greek restaurant yorgos. They literally slice the lamb in front of you with possibly the best fries I've ever had. They've got a characteristic gyro sauce and chicken gyros if you don't want lamb. Do yourself a favor and stop here before graduating fellow frannys. You'll find there is more to downtown Steubenville then you could have guessed. I took a couple friends here and they liked it

Deliciously generous portions at an honest price. Yorgo's is a fine small business at a convenient location where it is easy to find parking. Consider splitting a gyro, they're quite filling.

Excellent Greek food. Very nice hometown atmosphere. Fantastic service and Yurgo (the owner) will even carry on a conversation with you in Greek. A definite must stop if you want to experience the multi-cultural aspects of the Ohio Valley.

This is an impeccably clean, efficient, and economical place to grab lunch or dinner in downtown Steubenville. I find them to be very friendly and very welcoming to families, which makes them a great place for eating out with children, especially since they have many offerings that kids love, such as fries, mac n cheese, and, my daughter's favorite, the spanakopita! The quality of the food and service is consistently good, so there's never a concern that you will regret going here. This place is a local favorite for all the right reasons!

All I can say is bring your appetite for this little gem in downtown Steubenville. If you like Greek food and heaven in your mouth then you will like this place. Friendly workers and I always love when the owner makes your food. For sure a must!

Wow. Haven't been in Steubenville for years. Still a distressed mess in too many ways. I was in Weirton and used Yelp to find a place for a late lunch. This place has excellent ratings, and well deserved. Enjoyed a stuffed pepper special and a side of a sort of thick cut scalloped potatoes. All told with drink about $9. No obvious way to tip so I didn't and felt a bit bad about that. Food was outstanding, authentic and satisfying. Older gentleman running the food and two nice women running the register etc. I was recognized as an outsider with a "where are you from?", so I expect they have a loyal local clientele. "I'm from Cleveland and I came to Steubenville to have lunch right here" was a very satisfying response! Neighborhood in downtown sketchy but don't let that deter you. Basic furnishings and plastic utensils and foam plates. Clean clean clean. Spotless! Bathroom included.

Hands down the best gyros I've ever had. So good that I used to make trips from Pittsburgh just for them!

There's one word that I could describe my experience and the food I have had at Yorgo's, excellent!!! The staff is very friendly and is coupled with a nice little clean restaurant. Several times, I have had the chicken pita and the traditional gyro. Both sandwiches are always fresh and full of flavor! Plus there's never any skimping on the meat! You definitely get what you pay for. I rarely award 5 stars in my reviews and Yorgo's definitely deserves that praise. It's a greek mom and pop business where you can't duplicate the delicious food. Great food, great staff, great restaurant. I will continue to come here whenever I can.

I'm not sure I possess the necessary descriptive ability to explain how truly and completely satisfied I was with my experience here. As I've said in previous reviews, the 5 star rating is saved by me, for the best of the best, and this mom-and-pop delicatessen earned it! I'll keep it simple... first and foremost... THE FOOD! I got the original gyro. In all of my travels, never have I had such large portions, such fresh ingredients, such quality meat, for such a great price! Between the friendliness of the staff, the cleanliness of the facility, and the quality of the food, it is hard to find a negative. Even the parking didn't disappoint me. This location is in downtown Steubenville, which is probably the least palpable part of the experience. I would ask you to overlook that though, because this joint is worth the drive from everywhere!

from what i've heard, yorgo's is one of the few places worth trekking through downtown steubenville for. it's a little family-owned restaurant with a surprisingly extensive menu. personally i do prefer georgio's, but the gyros didn't disappoint. overall the food was really good! i came with a rather large group and since there were only two people working, it took a while to get everyone fed. the prices were higher than i would have expected for southeastern ohio. make sure to specify that you want the non-floppy variety of fries.

Have eaten at Yorgos for close to two decades. Most importantly, the establishment is clean. Price for food is a bit on the high side for breakfast/lunch fare, but is more than made up in the size and quality of the dishes. George makes excellent potato dishes. Large, with multiple toppings. Gyros are tasty, and the potion is plentiful. Spinach pie and grape leaves are available daily. Service is good. Order taken quickly and food presented in a reasonable time. You'll leave full and happy.

Great food. Great service. Food isn't cheap, but it's worth every penny esp if you take it to go and share at home with the family.

"Best gyros ever?" Perhaps in Steubenville, but honestly, these are "OK", but not exceptional. You do get a HUGE portion - a regular size sandwich was piled with so much meat, lettuce, and tomatoes that I needed a fork to eat it, and the "small" fries was a large cardboard basket. It's a pretty minimal operation in the downtown corridor, but the fries are made fresh and there are containers of freshly made pastries sitting on the counter as well. If you need to find lunch in this town, you could do a lot worse.

My favorite local restaurant. Huge portions of delicious food! Their baked potatoes are legendary and their gyros and fabulous. And, to top it all off, the owner is a great guy.

I had not been here in years simply because I don't go downtown. But now I will be downtown all the time! This place is Good with a capital "G". Large portions and the food is good. I know where all my money will be going for now on.
