Nice little 50's type soda shop on the Ohio river. There are fun old photos nicely framed on the walls and the menu is huge. Hubby ordered a strawberry shake and a basket of onion rings, FIL ordered a large peach ice cream in a dish, MIL and I ordered hamburgers which came with potato chips and a deli pickle. They brought the shake and ice cream before everything else, so MIL and I just sat there while Hubby and FIL enjoyed their treats, and we sat, and sat, and sat. I'd say we were there at least half an hour or more before we got the burgers. The burgers were HUGE and worth the wait, but sadly hubby and FIL had to sit and wait, having finished way before us. And the one major flaw besides the bad sense of timing, NO PICKLE!!! That's just wrong in my book. So, will I go back? Who knows, and for that matter who cares.

I have never re reviewed anyone..ever...but I'm afraid I have to. Since my first visit to this place I have gone back several times hoping things would get better. Wanting to love this place. I love nostalgic old diners. Yesterday I went in and brought some friends who I had told aboutthe place I explainedto them that the food was good but servers weren't friendly. I didn't know just how bad this place is. We walk in and everyone just kinda stares at us and we find a seat. I find that in this part of Ohio everyone seems to know everyone and if your a outsider you get stared at in a rude way. But that's fine whatever. My friend ordered a coffee and when he went to put creamer in it he found the the creamer on the table was all dried up. We flip it over to see the expiration date and it was may of 2007. This is 2011. How can tis even happen? The shelf life on this stuff is surely a couple years making this a creamer from I'm guessing 2005. Disgusting. Then his daughter goes to get a gum ball out of the machine and out dropped a old old old gum ball which had sat in there so long that it's outer shell had chipped all off. Gross. On top of that the teenage waitress was absolutely horrible. We sat the for 5 min before even being greeted and then we ordered drinks which took at least 20 minutes. When the food came which took a long time also. Tat was it. Never seen the server again. No " are you doing ok".? Nothing. We got no refills. The waitress and every waitress there had no personality. Did not smile, did not say thank you. I will never go back. Horrible. I was thereon time and they had a sign up saying that their restrooms were closed. That's not even legal. I wash hands before and after meals bit this place thinks it's ok to just close the bathrooms when they please. Horrible restaurant. Looks awesome. I bet under different management it could be great. But who knows how expired the things in the kitchen are!

At first glance this place is adorable. The atmosphere takes you back in time to a real old time soda shoppe. I will say the ice cream is decent. They offer an array of flavors and toppings, at a good price. The food, at least in my experience, leaves something to be desired. My fatal mistake may have been that I ordered a taco salad at a soda shoppe, but in my defense, how do you mess up a taco salad? Apparently, it is really easy...you just don't put ANY lettuce in the bowl. Yes folks, I had a taco SALAD with no lettuce. Now, think back to your childhood lunches. Remember when you had a Mexican themed lunch in school, and how it was your favorite day, but only because it was the most edible thing the school served? Yeah, that's exactly what my taco salad tasted like. Needless to say, it was not good, not good at all. In addition to my lack luster meal, the staff the day I visited was less than friendly. I heard rumblings from the one girl that her day was bad because they were too busy. Oh, I'm sorry, I thought maybe you actually wanted to do your job and get paid for it? Not a fan.

I have been going to this diner since I was in a stroller. I had my 3rd birthday here and I am now 18. I love stopping by here, especially in the summer to enjoy a marshmallow coke or a hand-scooped dip of ice cream.

Just had ice cream. LOVED the 50's soda shop atmosphere! Juke box was the back end of an old pink Cadillac. Has the greatest music! Played some of the Grease soundtrack and embarrassed the family by singing and dancing along! My son ordered the famous marshmallow Coke we'd been hearing about. It is a coke with marshmallow cream layered on top. Strange sugary experience that my sugar bug had trouble finishing. Try anything once? Our service was actually terrible and it wasn't even busy being that it was between lunch and dinner... What is funny is that the servers wear t-shirts that say "I'm a Jerk" with the word "soda" inserted with an arrow before the word jerk. Hmmmm.

Rockin' Robins has excellent dessert choices and memorabilia to match. Try the chicken salad on croissant if you're there for lunch...it's wonderful. Plus they have great catering prices.

After reading the reviews from others on this soda shoppe I thought I'd review it myself. The restaurant has been in business for ten years, it's not an old nostalgic diner. The menu has great sandwiches all made fresh to order, as well as all the handmade shakes, and fountain drinks.Everything is made by hand. If you are in a hurry this is not your place. They take pride in the fresh sandwiches they serve, the burgers 6oz do take a little time but are well worth the wait. Just as the menu states. If you're in a hurry, use the drive thru at mcdonalds!! The waitresses are all hard working good school age girls. Most of them their first jobs. Could be a little Green, but they are trying. All in all, doing the right thing and trying to get a start in life. Overall a very decent place to grab a bite. No frills, no hostesses to seat you, just a great burger joint with a rockin' juke box and great photos on the walls!! Next time you're in town, stop in and read all the rave reviews on the wall that customers have written about their service and experience! Not everybody goes in with a chip on their shoulder looking for something to be negative about!! Most people leave with a smile on their face and a good time!
