Son and I on an equipment rescue mission, stopped in late evening on the way home. Kitchen is open until at least 10, I recall. Great neighborhood pub! Located on Benson near the Bridge. Burgers and wings are good, typical pub fare, cooked to perfection! Good beer selection, need more local brewery options. Jukebox was a little loud. Maybe I'm an old guy. Nope, son says it's pretty loud, too. Good thing they have three rooms! This place used to be called Meyers, and it was divey. A typical 80's rock bar gone to seed in the 90's, although it was an awesome place to see bands. Now updated, clean, spacious, with pool tables in two separate rooms, and a small tent-covered patio seating area. I imagine this tent goes away on summer days, hopefully.

It's a corner bar! So old school cool, I have a feeling I'll find a way to hit this place often even though I don't live nearby. This is a long established neighborhood joint so everybody (besides us) knows your name, and it's also a feel good friendly place. No evil eyes or awkward silences when the newcomers walk in. (Hey, we're not in the suburbs anymore.) Barmaid Brittany was great, made us feel welcome and told us about the history of the place. (I am trying hard to convince Yelp to fix the current category listed for this establishment. Notwithstanding the name, this is no café!) Retro video game machine, joystick and all, with different games to choose from..including Pac-Man (yes, the original) and Defender! Plus the ever welcome bar top video console of assorted card and skill games. Jukebox in use ! And a cigarette machine, to boot. Two pool tables with plenty of space for the players, plus a big room at the rear for dining and/or entertainment. Little patio too. We only came for drinks so I can't speak for the food. Drinks were as they should be - strong and cheap. All wood, brick, and TIN inside, the building is approaching 200 years as a drinking establishment! Raise a glass to those who've gone before. Hope to be back soon.

I have been to Spanglers a lot and every time George is bar tending it's the best service I've ever had. He knows how to poor drinks properly and he's very engaging and professional. However the last 3 times I've been there, when the owner is behind the bar "off the clock" (as she so kindly told me) if you don't speak to her first, she completely ignores you. Another young guy and myself stood there for 5 minutes with no service while she poored drinks for herself and her friends. The both of us walked away with no drink in hand. The last time my friends and I ordered good she brought it to the table and said "I hope this is right I've never made it before." (why would you say this?) and the burgers made all of us sick for 2 days. Steer clear if you see a short blonde heavy set older woman behind or sitting at the bar.

I recently ventured out to Spangler's and can say it was well worth it!! We decided to go up on a Saturday around 7:00 for apps and beer, they have an extensive menu (bar food) the wings are delicious! It was not very crowded and they have pool tables, darts, keno, and the bowling game (think golden tee). They had a band start at 10:00 that was very good (seven mary three, queen, etc..) I will definately be returning for my next night out!
