I really have mixed feelings about Gracie's. I didn't realize they moved from Romick Parkway further east on 224 until a few months ago. It's just far enough on the edge of the city that you wouldn't realize it's there, unless you were heading to Tiffin. I found an opportunity to stop by this place recently and look around. There were only two other patrons buying sliced cheese, or another deli staple, in the store. The woman behind the counter spoke with them for a while after the purchase about the royal wedding. This is a double-edged sword, as it's great to know your customers but don't linger too long. If other people are waiting, it becomes a bit rude. She never did wait on me, rather opting to go back to her cheese tray. Okie dokie. It's not very big, but I did notice they were selling half gallon packages of Toft's ice cream. I'm a huge fan of Toft's. Other items for sale were different cuts of meat from D & H Meats out of Vanlue. Now, I've had D&H prepare meat for my family before and it was excellent. I've never had a bad steak from them. If I remember correctly, this place also sells cheese curds. That's an unusual item here. I'll have to check in the future, but I don't even think Brinkman's has cheese curds. I might have to make some poutine one of these days. They seem to be attempting to save money by not having the lights on during the day. The only problem was it was quite overcast (Overcast? In Findlay!? Why, that's unheard of!), and it was noticeably dark inside. They really need to have the lights on during overcast days. It does make a difference when first-time customers come in. After finally ambling about for way too long, a man behind the counter asked if he could help me. Since this is also an ice cream shop, I was quite obliged to give them the litmus test: a chocolate shake. I must say that it wasn't too bad. It was malty and not gritty chocolate milk, which is what I'm looking for. It reminded me of a Wendy's frosty to some extent. OK, I'll accept that but Dietsch's is still my first stop in Findlay.
