Delicious. Absolutely divine. I took a friend who by no means would consider herself vegan or vegetarian and she absolutely loved it! She ordered a cup of the raw broccoli soup and the Mediterranean wrap; I stuck with my usual red curry lentil soup and Pad Thai :). Safe to say, we both left full and quite content! This is definitely one of my favorite places for a quick, fresh, and healthy meal!

This place is cool, I didn't realize the location is right next to Savor Pint which is my preferred beer store. I could definitely see myself stopping in and ordering food every time I go beer shopping. I believe I've eaten here 4 times already which is a lot for me since I try to visit somewhere new whenever I eat out. Now for the food, I definitely splurged and sample a decent amount of the menu. We ordered the Guacamole dip with chips and the Spinach-Artichoke Dip, the Guacamole was not really worth the cost and while it did taste fresh it is not even close to the best guacamole's I've tasted before. But the Spinach-Artichoke Dip was and is my go to dip which I have ordered each time I've visited Portia's, the dip was flavorful and I could taste both vegetables without having one become too dominant. For the main dishes, I've tried the Pad Thai with Kelp Noodles and it was not lacking in flavor even though the noodles were definitely something different and new to me. You could even split this dish between two people since it was that filling but not in a heavy way. The Notuna Wrap was very good and I could taste a the Sunny Walnut Pate in the wrap but I need to remember to order the dip itself. The savory patty wrap was very filling as well, and whenever I eat here I never feel uncomfortable after I'm finished. For dessert we tried two different cheezecakes, the pineapple was nice and light. But the chocolate is worth ordering every time. Next time I go I will need to try some of the quesadillas and more of the salads.

I'm an omnivore with no dietary restrictions, and Portia's is still one of my favorite takeout stops in Columbus! For my first visit to Portia's, I stuck with dishes that seemed popular in previous Yelp reviews: the Superpower Wrap, Thanksgiving Quesadilla, Vegetable Curry, and the Lemon Cheezecake. They were all awesome. I've since branched out to the Notuna Wrap and Raw Broccoli Soup, and those are excellent too. I often order for takeout, either by phone or online through Skip the Dishes. If you're pressed for time, Portia's has a fridge case near the door with pre-packed soups, desserts, and root beers + kombucha teas. Do be careful pulling in and out of this place by car; the parking lot is kind of an awkward shape and people coming north on Indianola tend whip into the parking lot at light speed. I don't know how Portia does it, but a lot of the dishes taste more like a symphony of flavors than the sum of their individual ingredients. For example, my husband hates mushrooms, I hate Daiya soy cheeze, and we both dislike cranberry sauce...yet we can polish off a Thanksgiving Quesadilla within minutes, and it's got all three of those things goin' on. It has that delicious, melty, symphony-like flavor of a post-Thanksgiving, use-up-the-leftovers quesadilla. Ditto with the Notuna Wrap: I can't taste *any* sunflower seeds or walnuts in there, just the creamy mayo-like and celery-tastic texture of a good tuna salad. And I'm not a fan of cashew cream, which many vegans use as a stand-in for whipped cream--yet Portia's lemon cheezecake, which is made with cashews, tastes absolutely divine! Don't be off-put by the tiny size of the cheezecake; it's super filling because it's made with with protein-packed ingredients. As if great food isn't enough, the service at this place is lovely too. Everyone is cheerful and attentive, including Portia, who seems genuinely passionate about serving great food in a sustainable, vegan, allergy-friendly way. The employees always get my order right, and my takeout orders are often ready in just 10-15 minutes. They carefully label each takeout container too--just one of those small customer-service touches that makes all the difference. If you're a recycling addict, have no fear: the cardboard cartons collapse easily into flat sheets by just pulling at the corners.

I have never in my life had 7-Layer Dip this good before and the chips are amazing! I also tried the Pad Thai with kelp. The kelp isn't what you would normally would think it is, it was great.

This place is so good! Tried it for the first time today for lunch. Everything on the menu is gluten free and vegan which is great for my friend who is allergic to gluten, soy, and corn. She could have almost anything on the menu which never happens. The server was super friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. I ordered the raw broccoli soup and the "notuna" wrap. The soup was served chilled and it was fantastic - creamy and thick. I felt like I was eating a bowl of really good chip dip or salad dressing (not a bad thing). The "notuna" is a walnut pate. I got this in a gf brown rice wrap and subbed the veganaise for the creamy cashew dressing. There was also a surprise pickle in the wrap! Yum yum! I ordered the spinach artichoke dip to go. It was also delicious. Minus one star only for the small portion of spinach dip and crackers that cost $7. I will definitely be back!

Vegan food gets a really bad wrap. Only a year ago I would have been nervous about coming here, worried I wouldn't like it. Portia's is truly incredible and a restaurant that even meat eaters should try at least once! I went with a group of coworkers for lunch one afternoon. The decor is happy and colorful and made me feel excited to eat lots of fresh veggies. The menu is quite diverse, offering not just salads, but also wraps, quesadillas, burritos, rice bowls. I decided on the pad Thai. This is not a traditional pad Thai by any means. All the ingredients were raw (except for the bed of brown rice), vegan and gluten free. I loved it! It's hard to explain the flavor; I've never had anything else like it. After I finished my pad Thai, I got a slice of the lemon cheezcake. It was so light and tasty! I almost liked it better than some "real" cheesecakes I've had. There's so much to love about Portia's, but their staff was also so helpful and cheery when we had questions about the food. The whole place had a positive feel about it that some other restaurants just don't have. It felt as if everyone, including the patrons and staff, felt happy to be there. I can't wait to come back and try their guacamole! I hear amazing things about it!

If you're gluten-free, get in here! Portia's Café is proof that healthy food can be vegan, raw, gluten-free, organic, absolutely delicious AND budget-healthy too. Tucked into one of the newly-spiffed up storefronts along Indianola Avenue in Beechwold, it's a bright and cheery place with local art on the walls and a coatrack at the front door. The service is friendly but not overbearing. They seat and serve you; coffee is make-your-own and you pay for your meal at the register. Portia's has daily soup offerings and specials in addition to a large menu selection of appetizers, dips, soups, salads, wraps, smoothies and other drinks (including house-made sodas). They are a gluten-free space, so you can have your wrap in lettuce, or in a gluten-free tortilla, which is good (not sure if the GF tortillas are made of teff, but they have the consistency of east African anjeera bread, kind of spongy and soft). I generally avoid processed foods of any stripe (especially things which have no business trying to impersonate real food, like TVP or tofurky). At Portia's you don't have to worry - the menu is extensive as to ingredients and labeled when items are non-raw, contain soy, nuts, etc. They make all of their savory patties in-house and I believe they are all raw and soy-free, too. Score! Even their falafel and pad thai are raw. On this trip, the spouse and I both ordered a Mediterranean wrap, with hummus, lettuce, tomato, onion, Daiya "cheese" and Veganaise (which is better than mayo, to be honest) on a gluten-free tortilla. Serving size = 12" tortilla. So, large and worth the $10. I also had a blueberry/banana/spinach/ricemilk smoothie ($7), which was good. The spouse ordered lemon cheezcake for dessert ($4), which we both liked. We also had coffee (which, we remembered too late was Crimson Cup - their only downfall). Additionally, Portia's carries a selection of drinks (ginger beer, Luna Kombucha), desserts for carryout, fresh apples and oranges, and has a small store set-up with raw/vegan/GF/soyfree/organic items - chia seeds, protein powders, coconut oil, maple syrup, Glee gum, etc. While we were there, they seemed to be doing a good carryout business as well as plenty of tables dining in. I hope this place sticks around a long time.

Vegan-friendly, raw, local... I have heard of Portia's and finally got a chance to visit last week. Let me just say that this place rocks. It is small but in a cozy sort of way and you can tell that everyone there feels at home. The food is SO fresh! Everything is bright and fresh and tasty. Everything tastes good and is good for you without tasting like it is good for you. I am sure you know what I mean! I had their chili and one of their wraps and it was delicious! As I type this, I am craving a wrap again. I left feeling full and satisfied and managed to find a little more room in my belly for a slice of cheesecake later. Superb! I will definitely be back. Oh! And the owner is going to be offering cooking classes! Sign me up!!!

The food there was very good. I had the super power wrap and a bowl of vegetable curry soup, I also tried some of the broccoli soup. The customer service was also very good.

FANTASTIC place! Scrumptious vegan dishes that even a meat eater would dig! Awesome healthy vibe in the cafe itself and the staff rocks :-) If this place were closer to where I live, I would be a regular for certain!

Already craving another burrito! We visited on a Saturday for lunch and despite the limited and clearly highly desired seating, were seated quickly. While the art and decore is, in my opinion, busy, the atmosphere is local and all around friendly. As stated before, the burrito has already imprinted on my mind (though I try not to consume a lot of soy), but the vegetable curry was also delicious. Portions are filling which along with the quality of ingredients equals value for the price. Oh and you have got to try the deliciously rich, cocoa cheesecake which I believe it is made with avacado for that decadent texture.

Love the food, it is so nice to not have to worry if food in restaurants is really Vegan. It is so nice to have an entire menu to chose from. The Red Lentil soup is awesome! The dip sampler is my favorite. Dessert is not to be skipped Citrus parfait is the best Excellent service, and staff is friendly and knowledgable

So happy to find a vegan place in Columbus! My boyfriend got the black bean burrito with the breakfast patty and tried several of the hot sauces (our favorite was the Tortured Soul and we bought a bottle). I got the special pesto quesadilla with mushrooms, and tomatoes. Both were absolutely delicious. The waitress was attentive and gave us good advice about what to order. I would definitely go back if I'm ever in the area again.

I ordered a notuna wrap and it was delicious. The food was fresh and there's nowhere else you can find a place like that. The employers are really friendly and knowledgable. The place is really cute and cosy. Definitely will be back there!

Wow this was REALLY good. I'm not vegan but absolutely vegan friendly and I like to see what can be done raw and vegan. I ordered way too much (over 30 bucks for one person) but have plenty to eat the rest of the day. First off the atmosphere is fresh, clean and friendly. I was greeted right away and. at first was the only one there. It filled up quickly. I started with the dip sampler. A combo of guac, hummus, spinach dip and a walnut pate. All really, really good. I then moved onto the power wrap. Guacamole, raw falafel, bunch of veggies and a cashew dressing. Outstanding, and enough for two meals. For desert I got the vegan chocolate cheesecake. Outstanding. Great, friendly staff and a particularly cute guy working there as well.

It is very rare to come across an all vegan, raw gluten free place. I definitely will be back. I had the Thanksgiving Quesadilla! Not too often can you find Gluten free Quesadillas, so I figured it was a must try! Also, one called thanksgiving is quite rare too! I did it without the mushrooms. It was very tasty. The cranberry sauce adds such great flavor and sweetness. A lot better sauce with it then I thought it'd be. I had never had vegan cheezecake either. If you like coconut, you cannot go wrong with the Coconut one. Texture is different but one that makes you continue to want another bite.

i'm not a vegetarian but my BFF is so instead of looking for place where she could find "something" on the menu to eat I decided to pick a place that meant esp for her. could not have made a better choice. we got the guac with chips and the spinach dip and they were good as expected. but the real star is the pad thai, we elected the kelp noodles which made me feel super good about my carb counting. the flavor was unique, not trying to copy pad thai that you get with meat but it's own thing and it was sooo good. we had the burrito type bowl that was good but we both loved the pad thai. now i am a fan of cheesecake and nothing can replace it but their stand in cheezecake was good. we are excited to go back and try other things on the menu, esp the house made wraps!

After going to Portia's cafe yesterday I can happily say it is one of my favorites restaurants! I am vegan and am always searching for delicious food that I can eat.. I had seen/heard about Portia's for a long time but whenever I was deciding where to eat we chose somewhere else because the food in the photos looked pretty average. I was shocked to say when I went there the food is some of the most wonderful flavor-packed delicious things I have ever tasted. You definitely can't judge anything here by the way it looks! (But it does look amazing in person) It was so awesome having a full menu to choose from, which is extremely rare when you're a gluten free vegan. I absolutely loved this place and will be returning asap!

  • Hanna N.

This place is fantastic! The best gluten free and vegan menu I've ever seen. I was so impressed the first time I went that I returned the very next day. Their wraps are delicious! Every single item on the menu is great. Ingredients are fresh, tasty and service is great! One of the things that I love about Portia's is their consistency. Every time I go, the food has the same great quality and presentation as it had the time before. I'll be back again and again! We dine in or get carry out at least once a week. Please expand to more locations! You would be very successful!

    Portia's is truly a gem. I am so happy that this restaurant exists. I am a mostly organic gluten free vegan and it feels amazing to go to a place knowing that I can order ANYTHING on the menu. The staff is wonderful, you feel like they are all family there. It is a pretty small space that fills up quickly, and from my experience in the food service business, I know the staff have 15 things to do at once while juggling flaming torches and standing on their head when it gets busy, but they never let you notice it. They come to your table with a warm and peaceful manner, assisting you in an efficient and timely fashion. The decor is warm, colorful and comfortable. The bathroom is always really clean and well taken care of, too. What sets Portia's aside from other vegetarian/vegan restaurants that I have been to, is that a chunk of soy is not the main dish. There aren't any marinated tofu steaks or tempeh stuffed sandwiches, which is, in my opinion, how eating vegan should be. I avoid soy, I don't think it's particularly good for our bodies, and I am always amazed by how good natural whole foods are when you let the veggies, nuts, seeds and minimally processed ingredients shine, rather than making a pretend piece of meat with a block of soy. The vegetable curry is the best bowl of soup I have EVER had in my life, it's thick, almost like a stew. I tried to recreate it without success. It is perfection in a bowl. One time I reluctantly skipped my favorite soup to try the raw broccoli soup and I was not disappointed. It was fantastic as well. The Notuna wrap is perfect for a vegan that sometimes just craves a good ol' summery sandwich. I love the Notuna wrap but the Superpower wrap is king. Generous amounts of guac, falafel, creamy cashew dressing, sprouts, veggies, everything you could want in a healthy vegan wrap, and it is FILLING without making you feel big and weighed down. The Thanksgiving quesadilla is something really special. I could have it any time, any day, any season. My partner brought it home for me one day and I couldn't help but dance around the kitchen as I ate it, it's hearty, savory, and amazing. Definitely reminiscent of that quintessential Thanksgiving flavor. Portia's nailed it with this one. I won't be going to zpizza when I'm craving a vegan pizza anymore, the Sawsage pizzadilla is IT. Nailed it! My other recommendation would be the Pad Thai with kelp noodles, it will ruin other Pad Thais for you. I cannot wait to try just about everything else on the menu, it's just so hard not to order my current favorites! ^_^ My partner and I go a couple times a month and go all out, spending about $60 on four or five dishes including a tip, which is enough food for the whole day and maybe leftovers for a snack tomorrow. I LOVE when I have days where the only food I eat is Portia's. I love what this place does for Columbus. Supporting local and providing vegans and non vegans alike with cruelty free clean food that is consistently delicious time and time again. There is no place like it! Lastly, I can't leave this place without a couple blondie coconut macaroons! I love you Portia :}

On my way to the Summer Shirt Shindig, I drove past Portia's and was happy I then knew where it was located. After the Shindig, I thought I would stop to see if they were still open. There were and I placed a carryout order. I got a large Red Lentil Soup, and the SuperPower Wrap. This can be served in a lettuce wrap or a bowl, or for $2 more, with a GF tortilla. I spent close to $20 including the tip and was on my way. The Wrap was...wow. So good. The tortilla was moist and the filling was so flavorful. I think it was the creamy cashew dressing that made it so unique. The lentil soup was not the best I've ever had, but I liked it. I ate half and the rest of it tasted really good in a chilly kitchen this morning. I want to go back and try more menu items. I am interested in the raw broccoli soup and the pad thai after reading other reviews. I think if I go to to eat in, I'll wait until off hours, since it is so small.

A few little things about Portia's: The spanako rice wrap & the breakfast patty wrap are truly among the best foods on the planet!!! If you haven't had them, you need to try them! Our vegan family has taken many trips to NYC, looking for great dining experiences, and we, collectively, agree, no restaurant in New York beats Portia's when it comes to delicious food. My vegan son has traveled North America (with his job) and has eaten at many veg restaurants, but he LOVES Portia's. Did you ever have a meal that weighed you right down & even made you physically uncomfortable after you'd eaten it? There is no such food at Portia's. You could probably eat their whole kitchen and walk away feeling like Superman, as I always do, after eating her food. Her delicious, living food is always satisfying & always energizing. There is no better meal in Columbus, OH! Portia is a culinary genius! Writing this review has really got me going...Going to Portia's, right now!

One word: WOW. Portia's was such an unexpected delight. One of my best friends is vegan and I consider myself a part-time vegan(sometimes, I just need real ice cream and a bacon cheeseburger...such is life). Here at Portia's, the entire meal is vegan and gluten-free and a large portion of the menu is raw. You may think a non-vegan wouldn't dig it so much...you would be wrong. The food here is just good, whether it's vegan or not. I started with the raw broccoli soup. It was so good. It had so much flavor. Then, I had the pad Thai. It wasn't your average pad Thai. It was this creamy, gingery sauce over rice, kale, shredded carrots and red cabbage. The portion was generous and everything was so fresh and tasty. Lastly, we had the berry mango cheezecake and holy smokes, that was awesome. Just as creamy and good as regular cheesecake. I already can't wait to go back. Actually, that might be where I head for dinner tonight too...

Finally went to Portia's last week, a few months into my switch to being gluten-free.. I wish I had gone sooner! My boyfriend and I wanted to try so much stuff we wound up getting two apps and two entrees and pigging out, but it was all great. The falafel have wonderful flavor and the tahini sauce is addicting. Tried a couple dips as well; the artichoke spinach is an interesting raw take on the chain restaurant classic. I enjoyed a spinach & mushroom daiya quesadilla - a godsend since I also can't have lactose for the time being - and my date had a breakfast wrap, both satisfying and good. I was impressed with the texture of their homemade GF tortillas. Not spongy at all like some can be, and also nice neutral flavor. It's so great to have a place to go out to eat and not worry about feeling sick after. Plus the food is healthy in itself. You get what you pay for.

I'm not a vegan, but my mom really wanted to go here because she is hardcore vegan and wanted to try it out. I tried the dipping sampler and the SUPERPOWERWRAP! The wrap actually tasted pretty good (which pleasantly surprised me). The dips were just ok, I'm definitely not a huge fan of the no-tuna, and would gladly order regular tuna salad if given the option. It was also a little more pricey than what I would normally pay for lunch, but that's the cost of the vegan lifestyle. I would absolutely go back with friends, but probably stick to Texas Roadhouse for Friday nights as I'm not limited to Vegan options. My Mom certainly loved it though!

Wow, like most places it's all in what you order. I had the raw broccoli soup & the No-tuna Wrap. Both were absolutely crave-worthy. So glad I went back!

Absolutely incredible! The chili special is delightful and full of flavor. Atmosphere is quaint and welcoming. The service is quick and very helpful. The food came out before we could have anticipated. That's what happens when everything is fresh. I cannot say enough about the flavor. This is as healthy as it gets!

Portia's is a beautifully tucked-away secret in Clintonville. I was sold from the minute I found it from a simple "Vegan in Columbus" search and began drooling over the keys of my laptop whilst reading over the menu. The food really lived up to my initial expectations and everyone in shop was so bright and friendly. I'll admit, when I first went to pick-up my order I zipped right past this little shop on Indianola. Now, flash forward a few months and I have my first dine-in experience. The food was just as delectable as I originally remembered and it even thrilled my omnivore family! What more can you ask out of a restaurant that proudly boasts (and as it should) an entirely vegan menu!? And when the three of us tried every tasty flavor of 'cheezecake' on the menu, we were greeted by none other than Portia to check in on how our meal went! What a pleasant treat. All in all, Portia's is a pleasant little cafe that genuinely deserves all the praise it has been getting here. Vegans -- delight yourself with not having to grill your server with inquiries about your food's preparation. Omnivores -- you'll love to dip your toe into the plant-based pool with these delicious, out of this world bites.

This cafe has become my second favorite place to eat when I visit Columbus. The menu was diversified and it was hard to choose something to eat (which is a good thing) because I wanted to try it all and it all sounded great! Pad Thai was delish and I took home a wrap in a bowl. Yum!

As I've greatly enjoyed Portia's vegan-friendly food at the Clintonville Community Market for a few years, and have followed her journey toward being a restaurateur since she first publicized it, I was very excited to hear that her restaurant had finally opened! I was also shocked that many of my fellow Yelpers had visited and written reviews before I did - as you'd expect The Vegan Guy to be the first, right? Well, budgets and timing and all that, I just got around to trying it out, and I wasn't disappointed. First, aside from honey for the tea, this place is vegan. Not just vegan-friendly (a euphemism, in my book, for "I hope they didn't cook the chicken quesadillas right next to my vegan entree on the grill!" and "Is that a real hot dog, or the vegan one that I ordered?") but straight up vegan. True, there are many options at Portia's for aficionados of raw, organic, local, and even gluten-free - but my only requirement is vegan (which encompasses all of the food). Portia's Cafe makes it easy for me; I just order, knowing it'll be vegan. The only other place I can order and not worry about my food being tainted by animal products is Hal & Al's, but I can't eat bar food every day. Oh, and Portia's is not just vegan, but healthy vegan too, which is rare in Columbus. If I had to choose a single restaurant that I'd love to see stick around, it would be Portia's, because this world needs more healthy vegan places. I'll go over a few things that were a little weird first, and then talk about the super wins: * It's strange how they talk about their super filtered water on the menu, but the water still tasted like the "zombie sweat" we get at every other restaurant. Odd. * Some of the food was spot-on, but a few items weren't well-integrated or had the wrong salt/spice balance. For example: I had the burrito as my entree, and I had to bite one end (wrap/lettuce) and then the other (the "stuff" in the center, with vegan cheese, beans and rice) to make it taste like a burrito. When I took my first bite, I just got lettuce and wrap, which wasn't a burrito, it was just lettuce. Also had the dip sampler, and found that of the four, two were overly salty, while the avocado (guacamole) was perfect, and one of them was just confusing to my palette flavor-wise. Again, it says right on the menu that they're tweaking recipes and trying to improve things as they go along. Now, onto the cool things.... I want to mention that it appears a lot of time was spent on the decor - with large, painted, wooden flowers on on the walls, with a really bright palette of colors! Someone mentioned a weird food-prep to server ratio. I saw that people were prepping and delivering food to tables at a decent rate. I did enjoy the opportunity to select two of three options to go along with the dip sampler: rice crackers, corn tortilla chips and veggies. The fresh veggies worked well with the more salty dips, and the salty tortilla chips worked well with the less-salty dips. You just have to figure out which one is which. And by the time you read this, the recipes may have changed, and the salt-flavor balance might already be adjusted. Who knows? Moving on, I did enjoy the raw broccoli soup, although it might take some folks a little getting used to raw soup in general. It was raw, and chilled, and I did enjoy it. If you're a fan of cheesy broccoli soup, this is not it. This stuff is way healthier and, in my opinion, has a ton more flavor. As mentioned the burrito entree was good, but I had to take little bites from each end, just to make a single bite that combined all the flavors enough to make what I believe was the intended burrito flavor. Again, it was one of those salt-and-flavor on one end, no-salt-and-minimal-flavor on the other. When they tell you the burrito is messy and offer you a fork, take the fork, and ask for a few napkins: the burritos are messy. Plus, you can elect not to eat it like a burrito, and just rip it apart into smaller pieces, mixing things up, and making it a little more homogenized and burrito flavored throughout. But that's just me. They had a few beverage options in the cooler, such as my favorite sparkling water (San Pellegrino) and some Kombucha teas. Ending on a sweet note, the raw, avocado-based chocolate pudding is to die for! It doesn't matter if you love or hate avocados, you'll love this stuff. It's a smooth, creamy, chocolatey, vegan's dessert dream! And Portia's two raw cheesecake options (pineapple and berry) are amazing as well. I've actually had these desserts many times in the past, in little containers at the Clintonville Community Market, so I know how awesome they are. Overall, I think the world would be a healthier place with more restaurants like Portia's. Her food is truly better for you and the planet. Plus, I love the idea of food being both healthy and awesome-tasting. Now, who's up for sharing a bit vat of chocolate pudding?

I definitely didn't expect to like this place as much as I do. I have visited often, once every couple of weeks or so, since it opened. The food is inventive and flavorful, sometimes something hard to achieve for "health food". This is a great option for folks with a wide range of dietary needs, and also pleases those like myself who simply like to give their body a treat once in a while. My favorites are the pad thai and the Super Power wrap. The made-in-house teff tortillas are great, and something I've tried unsuccessfully to recreate at home. I also really like the dips (aside from the hummus, which I don't care for). Other menu items have always been good when I've tried them, particularly the soups. I've always been too full for the deserts, but others have raved about them. Portia's has a few quirks that have me holding out on that 5th star, but is definitely a go-to of mine for lunch or weeknight dinners.

Wonderful, wonderful food!! I definitely recommend the No Tuna wrap with GF wrap and cashew dressing. So yummy!

This is a great from scratch restaurant producing great tasting vegan recipes. The food has flavor, color, texture and menu has a wide selection. I was able to chat with the owner who has a passion for organic, local and fresh ingredients. I felt like I was eating at a high end Chef's table while she spoke to me about her menu and ingredients. Vegan's this is your place to go and a great place to introduce your friends to raw foods. The place is intimate yet set-up with private tables without any intimidation. I enjoyed the broccoli soup, falafel balls, pad Thai, & back at the hotel a slice of berry mango cheesecake. This isn't a chain and you will find no dollar menu nor should you! If you pay so little for food now expect to pay more for it later.

I was pretty disappointed with Portia's. I was so excited to try it that I went out of my way one day for lunch. I ordered the strawberry, banana spinach smoothie and the spinach quesadilla. Everything was horrible. I'm usually a huge fan of spinach-laced smoothies, but this one was watery, flavorless and not well combined (I kept running into ice chunks). The quesadilla was small, thin and mostly tortilla. I think there was a leaf or two of spinach in each quesadilla triangle. I was so saddened. I thought the prices were pretty reasonable but still not worth the taste and amount of food/drink I received. I might try it again since everyone else's experience seems to conflict with mine... but not anytime soon.

Amazing 7 layer dip! And I loved my Mediterranean wrap. I'm not even vegan. Just good food.

Portia's is excellent. The food and service are fabulous. I have tried most of the items on the menu and I have been very happy. My favorite is the hummus wrap. I dream about this item soooo good.

Delicious! Great quality, nice mellow environment; good service. Had the pad thai with brown rice, which I would highly recommend. I was hesitant about getting the chocolate macaroon for dessert because they're usually too sweet, but Portia's was perfect.

Hey Portia's Cafe - you rock. Have stopped in and tried most of the vegan cheesecakes and they are some of the best deserts I've ever had. Holy Smokes they are delicious. Will be coming in soon to have a full dinner. Thanks for giving Clintonville such a great healthy dinner option.

Came in on a Sunday afternoon and there was a wait for a table! That's a good sign. Service was attentive and the waitress made sure we got seated as soon as possible. I am GF but not Vegan, so was dubious about getting a satisfying meal. However, my Thanksgiving Quesadilla was delicious, curry soup was awesome, and we had a little food left over to take home. Delicious combinations of flavors. I highly recommend.

I've been here at least five times. I'm a carnivore, but I like my vegetables. I workout, so Portia's food gives me good clean fuel. I never feel guilty when I eat here but I still feel indulgent. All the soups are terrific and I would highly recommend anybody try any one of them. I've had several of the wraps (I prefer the lettuce wrap to the GF wrap) and all were good. I had the garden of Eden salad once which was a huge plate, but I do wish it had maybe patty crumbles. And I've had a couple of smoothies which aren't exactly sweet but u can tell they're raw ingredients and nothing artificial. Once, we went for brunch, and my friends had the mixed berry pancakes which were really great! I also like the raw coconut macaroons as a little treat!

I've had Portia's bookmarked for far too long, and finally took my first trip this month! I really wanted to try several of the dishes featuring the spinach-artichoke dip or "Spanako", but sadly they were out of it. Next time! I ended up going with the next least healthy item on the menu (although still crazy healthy, like everything else within the little cafe) and got the Sawsage Pizzadilla. It instantly became my new favorite alternative to pizza! The Daiya cheeze is the most delicious "fake" cheese I've ever had - I might actually like it better than regular cheese. The gluten free tortilla was also quite tasty (unlike most other gluten free bread bases) and the sweet onions were the perfect balance with the flavorful "meat patty". I finished it off with the chocolate cheezecake, and for being vegan it was still incredibly rich due to all the other great ingredients it's made up of. Although fairly small, the menu takes some time to read over since it's all different and I like to see what exactly I'm eating. While some people might be scared of this stuff, I want everyone to try it! It's honestly just as enjoyable as other upscale restaurant dishes, yet you don't feel awful after eating it. Thanks for providing Columbus with such a great spot, Portia!

I truly wanted to love this place. On paper their menu offerings tantalized the clean-eater in me, beckoning that I navigate Morse Road traffic away from closer, more convenient denatured lunch offerings. Upon arriving, the location reminded me that it is not the destination, but the journey that matters. Hoping the food would make the journey worthwhile, I found myself pleasantly greeted, yet overcome with a feeling of stickiness. If you have a thing about cleanliness, you will know what I mean. I added, a few more items from their pre-made foods cooler and paid for my $33 carryout lunch order. On my drive back to the work, I realized that I reeked from exposure to PC's air. If you have a thing about smells, you will know what I mean. I praise PC for removing fluoride from the water, using organic produce, buying locally and serving raw. The concept works. The execution, not so much. The food is second-rate. The prices are first-rate. In conclusion, if you are in the Easton area and decide to judge for yourself, I suggest that your next destination be home, not work or an evening engagement, so you can shower. I am back to packing my lunch and envisioning that the New Age will manifest deliciousness beyond a printed menu.

My partner and I often divide vegan eating out experiences into "good for you" and "fun, but not good for you". Portia's is the good for you kind: everything made from scratch with only freshness and nutrition in mind. If you want comfort food, I am not sure Portia's is where you should go. But if you want to splurge on a great vegan meal that you can feel good about indulging in, off to Portia's you should go. Portia's is located in a little strip mall, tucked away enough that we managed to drive by it twice when we were first looking for it. The inside has about a dozen tables: it is a very cozy eating in experience, so if you want a lot of privacy, you might want to get your food to go. The service is prompt and friendly: you can tell everyone working there is working together and quickly to make customers happy. Not super familiar with the BYOB situation in Ohio being new to the area, so I am not sure if you can bring your own booze or not. They have some good tea options as well as some fancy root beer. Being a bit of a coffee snob, I was super bummed by their selection: a few different kinds sit in an airpot for you to serve yourself. The coffee is pre-flavored and has obviously been sitting for a while. The same woman waited on us the first two times we went. We have tried the Deep Green salad--a kale creation that is amazing. We also had a soup which may have been a special, as I can't remember what it was (other than tasty). Both times we went we ordered a special called a Thanksgiving Quesadilla. I was initially drawn to it because the thought of a thanksgiving quesadilla both horrified and intrigued me. I knew it was either going to be awesome or a huge mistake. It was awesome. Nothing like a real quesadilla, but a great mix of savory and sweet, with the warm spices that remind you of the fall. Another special entree we tried was the Pad Thai: it was served cold and was an interesting interpretation of that dish. We finished both meals with their pineapple cheesecake. It is light, fresh, fruity, and got a big thumbs up from us. We are moving to the Columbus area in August and can't wait to go back to see what's on special now at Portia's.

I first went to Portia's the day after it opened. I wasn't completely impressed, but I wanted to give the place another try. Months later I went back and I fell in love. From my own experience, I think the mixed reviews this place are a result of what you order. The menu is hit and miss, but when it hits, it hits hard! Some of the menu -- the wraps in particular -- are really good, but they come without any sides, which can turn people off, especially when price is considered. Portions are small for some items so the presentation is underwhelming, but the food is very filling. Go in planning to order more than one thing off the menu. The dessert is fantastic, especially the berry cheesecake. The pad thai is great, too.

This place is great. I had the kale salad and vegetable curry soup - both were delicious. Cute place, and there are so many things on the menu I want to go back and try! The service was good, too. I will definitely make a point of returning.

Visited Portia's for the first time yesterday with some friends. We arrived around 1 and the place was pretty busy. We were seated immediately and given some water and a few minutes to look at the menu. We decided to each get a homemade soda, and a hummus for the table to share. The hummus was great...perfect texture and had major hints of lemon in it, which I loved. The sodas were a little weird. I got watermelon, and honestly it just tasted like bubbly stevia water. I could hardly taste the watermelon flavor. One cup of soda was $2, so I doubt that when I ever go back I'll get one again. Of the two other people I was with who got sodas, one liked theirs and one hated theirs, so take that as you will. I got the raw Pad Thai with noodles (there is an option to have it with cooked brown rice instead of raw kelp noodles) and I was blown away. I'd seen people on here complaining about the portion sizes not leaving them full, but they must be expecting super-size portion sizes because my pad Thai bowl was plenty full and I barely finished it. It tasted like a salad you would get at a Japanese restaurant, because the sauce they put on it has a strong sesame-ginger thing going on. The noodles, cut vegetables and chunks of kale were proportioned well, and the sauce wasn't too overwhelming. It definitely wasn't like any pad Thai I've ever had before but if you go in looking at it more as an entree salad, you won't be disappointed. For dessert I had a cup of chocolate mousse, made with raw cocoa, avocado, maple syrup and vanilla. It was amazing. For $6 I would have expected more than I got but honestly by the time I was done with my entree and then the dessert, I was completely full. One of my friends got the apple cookie, and his only comment was "well this is weird". But then he ate the entire thing, so who knows what that really means, but it didn't look appetizing to me at all. Service is lacking in attentiveness, and the place is slightly on the expensive side, but for raw, vegan, organic local ingredients that's to be expected. All in all I would recommend this place to anyone who isn't your typical meat and potatoes eater. Anyone who is a lighter eater and/or likes some adventure in their meals will find Portia's Cafe to their liking I think. I will definitely be coming back to try more menu items in the future, although I may just continue coming back for that pad Thai.

Food: the dip sampler (especially the spinach/collard/artichoke one) was tasty and the spanako rice wraps packed full of flavor. But the lentil soup was irredeemably bland. I question whether there were any ingredients besides lentils and water. Sadly, they were out of coconut curry soup that day. Service: cheerful and well-meaning, but slow and awkward. Average it all together and it comes out...average. Truly 2.5 but I'll round up for offering a healthy alternative.

Fantastic place! My husband and I ate here while we were visiting from out of state. Everything that we had was absolutely delicious. My husband is does not do a gluten free, vegan, or raw diet, and he loved the food as much as I did. We even got some of the "spanako" dip to go, for lunch the following day. If I lived in Columbus, or anywhere in Ohio, for that matter, I would be visiting this restaurant as often as possible. As a side note, it is easy to miss this place, even when you are driving by looking for it. After we parked, it still took us a few minutes to figure out where it was.

Cute! It's so petite, it's adorable. Of course, it means it may be prone to filling up. It did while I was there at lunchtime on Tuesday. I saw one couple leave when no tables were available. The menu has a nice range of options: wraps, burritos, soups, dips, desserts, smoothies. Enough to invite return visits. I ordered the loose-leaf green tea and a quesadilla. It came out pretty quickly, but the quesadilla portion was small-ish. I was also given a fork but no knife, and it was too warm to eat by hand and the tortilla too firm to cut through with the edge of the fork, so I wasn't really sure how I was supposed to go about diving in. The server, meanwhile, was growing increasingly busy with the quickly filling tables, and the food cooled down enough for me to use my fingers before I had the chance to ask for a knife. "But how was it?" you might be wondering. Oh yeah, it was good. I'm not sure the gluten-free tortilla would please everyone, but I didn't think it was bad. Daiya cheese, it turns out, is darn good as far as vegan cheese goes. The quesadilla came with Tofutti sour cream, which tastes fine on its own, but it seemed to drain the flavor from the quesadilla when I had both in one bite. I didn't notice until I was done that the menu said it was supposed to come with salsa, as well. Mine didn't, and I wasn't about to ask for salsa when I had no more quesadilla, so I'll make sure I try it next time. Nothing on the menu is over $8 or so, but if the quesadilla was any indication, you might need to order more than one item to fill yourself up. So I had a chocolate mousse, which actually came in a larger portion than I'm used to seeing for mousse. It tasted a little fruity, which took a spoonful or two to get used to, but I liked it, and it filled that appetite gap the quesadilla didn't quite cover. Oh, and it has an avocado base. How nifty is that? Overall impression is that Portia's is a bit rough around the edges. Aside from portion size, any complaints I have can trace back to the fact that there was one server staffing all ten tables. What's bizarre was that there were four or five other people behind the counter, presumably preparing food. And the one thing that *was* reliably fast was the time between ordering and receiving food. But it left me having to ask for a tea saucer, ask for (though I never managed to) a knife, and never getting the chance to ask the many different things I wanted to about the food (like what daiya cheese is made of, since it's marked non-soy... now that I'm home I'll just google that). I'll be back, but I'll probably give it a month or so to see if that roughness gets sanded down a bit, such as finding a better server/food prep balance.

This was my first experience at a vegan restaurant, and everything was quite good. I had the breakfast wrap, guacamole, and cheesecake for dessert, all delicious. It's nice to see a restaurant that serves high quality, healthy food doing well in Columbus. My only complaint would be that the portions aren't quite large enough for a big man like myself. It would be nice if the entrees came with some kind of side i.e. rice, sweet potatoes, bread, etc.

1st time visitor. Waitress, Joanna, very helpful in selection of Notuna Wrap [i chose tortilla & raw Creamy Cashew dressing]. Already knew i was going to order Berry-Berry Mango Cheezecake. Both excellent. Cheezecake divine. Fresh ingredients. Variety of taste, texture and color. Many more intresting menu items to try upon return visits. Jim D.

I ordered a no tuna wrap in lettuce to go. Got home and it was a no tuna salad. I heard the guy ask the girl who made my order if it was a lettuce wrap or a salad. She confirmed a wrap. How do you get that wrong? I'll just put it in a pita.

The desserts for me were what really stood out: the berry berry mango cheezecake and the key lime parfait are both excellent. The food was pretty good, but not quite at the same level. The falafel balls were fine, the salad was humongous with a healthy amount of creamy dressing, and the raw broccoli soup was smooth and chilled which was nice during a warm day, but I was expecting more broccoli flavor. With this being raw food, prices are understandably higher, but I certainly felt like I was getting the most bang for my buck with the desserts, which I found are also available at the Clintonville Community Market.

A nice treat for a midweek lunch. I'd heard of it but wasn't too keep to try it on my own. I got "tricked" into going by a couple of my healthy colleagues and I'm glad they dragged me along. Nice people, funky décor and the food was tasty and interesting. I had the raw broccoli soup and a pizza. Everything was fine and I'm glad I experienced the whole vegan, raw thing.

About two years ago, I switched my diet to organic and mostly raw food (lost over 100 pounds & it was best thing that ever happened to my health). Some time after that I discovered Portia's amazing raw cheezecake and falafel at the co-op and would pick those up whenever I had the chance. Apparently I didn't get the memo when the restaurant was first opened, but as soon as I did, I extended my planned 8-mile walk to 9.6 miles just to visit (BTW walking almost 10 miles in one day was literally impossible and personally inconceivable before I went raw). The promise of some incredible raw food certainly helps you put one foot in front of the other. I ordered the SuperPower Lettuce Wrap (falafel, guacamole, sprouts & veggies, cashew dressing) and that was one of the most amazing things I've ever stuffed in my face. Also got the fresh made juice of the day which was carrot-apple-celery-beet. Delicious!!! Total cost: $15 + tip. To keep my review "objective"... there was a small snafu with my oder (given gluten-free wrap instead of lettuce wrap) but it was fixed in a couple minutes. No big deal. I almost can't believe this restaurant really exists. Columbus was always cool, but now it is brilliant. Eat some raw food and be healthy, yo. Thanks, Portia & Co.

I went here with my vegan friend. The wrap I got was good(ish) but we got it for dinner, and literally 30 minutes later I felt hungry again. I think this place would be good for lunch, but it left me unsatisfied for dinner.

We went on a Saturday evening around 6 pm and they were not busy at all, but there were several festivals going on around so that makes sense. I got the untuna wrap and it was amazing, however for the price I would have expected something along with it. Some sort of side-dish. It looked very lonely on the plate by itself. There was another thing that bothered me, too. They do not serve ice because they feel it is not good for you, but did not elaborate as to why. This truly makes no sense and I pray this doesn't become a new fad...such as gluten free (which also drives me absolutely insane; unless you have Celiac or have a gluten allergy...don't even get me started)...so next time my husband I go I'll ask about the ice. Definitely worth another visit, just for the untuna wrap alone.

This is a WONDERFUL place for healthy and absolutely scrumptious food. Their menu has a nice variety of choices and it clearly explains what everything is and contains. The restaurant is delightfully colorful but not gaudy; it is a fresh and clean place. The staff was welcoming but not obnoxious. It has a great relaxed feeling. The desserts are a must! See the posted photos for my awesome picks!

We'll I can't say enough about Portia's. Although I am not a vegetarian this food is phenomenal. I rAte this a This genuine 5. I have eaten there before and it just seems to keep getting better. Yesterday I had the Pad Thai which was fantastic. For dessert I had the Key Lime parfait which had just the right amount of sweet so you could really taste all the flavors. The service was friendly and attentive. I recommend it to anyone wether they are vegetarian or not

Really excited to have another place to eat in Clintonville. We started with a 'dipper' (we chose Spinach-Collar-Artichoke Dip) - really nice flavor, loved the depth the capers added. My friend had the falafel which was nice and nutty. I would have added salt to the tahini sauce (but I find that a plus - I'd rather add a little salt than find everything too salty) The Spanako Rice Wraps were good but I have to say I prefer the Spinach-collard-Artichoke dip which I believe is the same thing, just not in the rice papers. The Red Lentil soup was tenderly spiced and comforting. Not an in your face flavor, subtle and delicious, creamy. THe Notuna Salad wrap on a GF Wrap (buckwheat crepe) was ah-mazing... and I chose the Creamy Cashew dressing instead of the Vegenaise. The bubbies pickles were a nice salty garnish.

Their broccoli soup was incredible. I destroyed it in seconds. I should have opted for a bowl rather than cup. The nachos were fine, but I feel like I probably should have tried something else. It just seemed substantial and I was very hungry.

Really was looking forward to this place. Overpriced for what it is. Found the overall conditions to not be very clean(sticky table, food on the walls.) Over charged me by $10 then tried to get me to agree to that being the tip. The food was just okay. Despite being vegan, I won't be coming back.

I'm not a vegetarian; I like meat and even if I didn't, my family would stage a revolt if I decided to convert. But I do appreciate super healthy vegetarian food AS LONG AS IT'S DELICIOUS. Portia's Cafe fits the bill. We visited today and had red lentil soup, two kinds of salads, and raw broccoli soup. Anything on a menu that has the world "raw" in it kind of scares me (I'm tentatively moving toward being able to eat tofu. If it's crispy), but both soups were fantastic! Real depth of flavor, but also delicate and flavorful. The service was friendly and efficient. The place is small but very cozy and well designed, with tables and booths and an uncrowded feel. "Clean and pleasing" is how I would describe the design concept.

I stopped in today to see what they had on the menu. It's a pretty small but nice restaurant located about four blocks down Indianola Ave. To be honest, this isn't my style of cooking (or eating). I chose hummus, which while it probably wasn't the worst hummus I've ever had it was pretty darned close. My basis for comparison was Pita Hut -n- Grill and any of the other pita places. And it wasn't cheap. It's listed as $5 on the menu but I'm pretty sure I got charged $6. But anyway, they were doing a good business, so someone must like it.

A friend of mine and I tried Portia's one Friday night. We didn't have any problems with either cleanliness or service. In fact, the inside is very cute and inviting and the server was great. It IS a little on the pricey side, but everything is made from scratch, so it makes sense. You aren't going to be able to get Applebee's prices here. Everything is vegan and gluten-free. My friend and I are just plain vegetarians. We started with the raw falafel appetizer, which is literally falafel innards that haven't been breaded or fried. It was good, and did taste like falafel but I doubt I'd get it again. It was overpriced for what we got. From there I got the raw broccoli soup, and that, my friends, was amazing. I kind of regretted ordering it as it was a chilly, rainy night and it's a raw, and therefore cold, soup, but it was fabulous and so unusual-it's a puree of broccoli, almonds, avocado, and apparently dates according to their menu. Unless you make this yourself, you haven't tasted anything like it. My friend got the curry soup, which he also really liked. We both got the special for dinner. I think they were called Thanksgiving quesadillas, which were sage patties on bread that appeared to be like injara, kind of spongy and sour (I love it, but your mileage may vary.) It came with cranberry sauce. These things were insanely good, and tasted like nothing else I've ever had. And now I'm thinking about them and getting all Pavlovian and damn it-now I want to go back to Portia's! Just to complete the experience, we got dessert. My friend ordered it while I was on the phone (I know, rude) and it was some sort of key lime pie concoction. It tasted different and not that sweet, but I've become a fanatic about cutting out added sugar this year so I actually didn't mind that. You could really taste the lime in it. I also thought it was cool that when we went to pay, the kitchen is right behind the register. You can easily see them preparing everything. If you look on line, the menu is wonderfully extensive. I can't wait to go back. There really isn't another place like this in town.

So awesome! My band stopped here on our way through Columbus. It was perfect for our dietary preferences, and so delicious. I absolutely recommend it to vegans and non-vegans alike. As a vegan/gluten-free eater, I am pretty siked about Portia's Cafe. It is amazing to have a place where you can eat ANYTHING off the menu rather than a few selections. And really, you can't go wrong with anything you order. On the weekends, they even offer gluten-free pancakes and waffles with fruit that are really delicious. However, I think my favorite will always be the quesadillas with the house-made tortillas, daiya cheese, and beans... mmmmmm.... I have taken several non-special diet friends here as well and they equally love it, although they did complain about the portion sizes and prices. (They are more normal sized portions rather than American sized...) I also wished that they had later hours on Sunday since that is when I typically eat out. Either way, I highly recommend this cafe. Everything is tasty and you will leave knowing that you had a well planned, healthy meal to nourish your body!

Cozy, friendly vegan place. Very healthy menu, even on the sweetest of dishes you know you're getting food that's good for you. I had the black bean, rice, and daiya cheese quesadilla and the strawberry shake and both were excellent. I also had the apple-almond cookie for dessert, which I also enjoyed. The service is excellent, you can tell everyone there really cares about the community. Also great to see sprouts growing by the front window.. you can tell Portia really has a commitment to fresh and local. :) The decor is very bright, which really picks up your spirits. Overall, you leave filled up with tasty (but healthy) food and refreshed.

We tried Portia's cafe for the first time tonight it was excellent the vegetable curry soup was exactly what I wanted! We had the breakfast patty wrap in the lettuce wrap which comes open faced as seen in one of the previous reviews. The person who complained must not have know the lettuce wrap has to be folded up. We also got the power wrap in the gluten free wrap which my husband loved and he is not vegan or vegetarian! The berry mango cheeze cake was a great finish to our meal! We will definitely be regulars!

Tried Portia's tonight for the first time. The place had great energy.... This was the first time my fiancé had ever tried vegan/ raw food. He loved it as well. Much ( if not all) of the choices were gluten and dairy free. I felt very safe eating here as I have to be gluten and dairy free. The food was really dilicious and the owner and waiters were super friendly. Pricing was very reasonable for fresh organic, raw goodness!!!

This was a first time eating there and my husband and I loved it. Everything was so fresh and the flavor mixtures were wonderful. I had the burrito bowl and it was so good! One of my favorite vegan restaurants in clintonville. Superfood wrap with their gluten free wrap is the best. Sometimes it's a little bit salty, so if u don't like saltiness, ask them not to.

I recently tried Portia's Cafe after reading a positive review in The Columbus Alive. I tried the four dip sampler with veggies and tortilla chips and really liked it. All the dips were flavorful and had a strong, robust taste, with the exception of the hummus which was more mild. Also tried two soups: the red lentil and coconut curry. Both were very delicious and I would order again. Definitely checking this place out again when my vegetarian friends visit.

This place has the absolute best blended lentil soup I've ever had. I typically go for whole lentil soup (the kind Aladdin's sells) because I've found the blended kind most restaurants sell to be a tad bland and watery. Not Portia's! The first spoonful blew me away from the depth of richness! So amazing, the soup alone is worth the trip. Their blended broccoli soup was also intriguing, and would even make for a good salad dressing! Gotta love those raw food perks, every dish is versatile ;) The quesadillas were delish as well, made with mozz daiya and served with some of the most delicious salsa I've ever had. I highly recommend this place, it's right off of Morse, down Indianola in the red awning shopping strip. Support the saddeningly few vegan restaurants Cbus has! Can't wait to go back and try their fruit drinks and falafel.

So sweet! What a great place to support. I had a black bean and rice burrito and my partner had a falafel lettuce wrap.

I really liked the chocolate mousse. The staff were extremely nice and helpful. The place was clean and bright and easy to find. The Coconut Curry was delicious. The 7-Layer Dip was a little "broken down" juicy, but tasted very nice. The Falafel were a bit dry and crumbly.

Love love love Portia's Coconut Curry Soup. Love the pineapple cheesecake. Love the rosemary cheese quesadillas (Portia- please use the recipe you started out with. Couldn't taste the rosemary last time and cheddar non-dairy cheese wasn't an improvement over the white version). Suggestion - offer mint tea a la Aladdin's. I'm not so much a fan of the broccoli and the lentil soups. The chocolate mousse was good but not that good. Love the spanako (sp?) rolls, mock tuna salad, quinoa salad, and kale salad - all of which I bought from your handy take-out cooler. Keep doing what you're doing and trying new things and thank you for giving us clean food.

We LOVE Portia's!! My husband recently decided to become Vegan and when I Googled "Vegan restaurants Columbus" I came across Portia's Cafe... We've now been there several times and will definitely go back!! The cafe is a tad on the small side, but we've always been seated right away when we've gone. Prices are inexpensive to reasonable in my opinion -- so far our "average" has been about $8/person -- last time the bill was just under $40 total for 4 adults (which included entrees, one coffee, no dessert). We've tried their Falafel Lettuce Wrap, the Breakfast Patty Lettuce Wrap, the Quesadilla with cheeze, onion & spinach, the Cheeze Pizzadilla, the Burrito, and the Fair Trade Coffee -- ALL of which were extremely tasty and VERY filling.... Have to admit I'm surprised a couple of reviews on here mentioned not being "full" or having to eat soon after being at Portia's!! We have found the opposite -- many times we can't completely finish our food! DEFINITELY try their "house-made GF wrap" -- I purposely added it as an "option" with the lettuce wrap I got the last time I was there because I liked it so much previously when I had the Quesadilla!! During one recent visit to the restaurant, we actually met "Portia". She stopped by our table with little bowls of complimentary organic blueberries!!! YUMMY! They also have a cooler case, near the checkout counter, stocked with local produce you can purchase -- as well as some of their food packed "to go"-- which I think is a nice "touch"... Oh -- and they have a window ledge/seat that has lots of local info for your perusal, as well as kid friendly items (books, coloring books etc) to keep the "little ones" busy while you dine which I find very thoughtful! I guess the only "negatives" that I can think of are that it's NOT easy to spot as you drive along Indianola...EVEN when you're LOOKING for it... They could probably improve their visibility in the plaza... Also, maybe their servers could be a little more "informed"...?? They forgot to offer me a side of salsa or Tofutti sour cream with my Quesadilla the one night and I didn't think about it --- but later was reading their menu over again and noticed that listed -- which I would have enjoyed -- but the server hadn't said anything when I ordered... Minor "glitch" in my opinion though... Overall I would HIGHLY recommend Portia's!!!!

This place was great!!!! It took me a while to find it but I've only lived in this state a few months. It's a very cute and clean atmosphere and my waitress was really sweet and I enjoyed her. My fiancé and I ordered three courses. The Spinach-collard-artichoke dip for the appetizer which I believe said was 85% raw... It was reallllly tasty and served with black corn tortilla chips. I was super impressed already. For my entree I got the Notuna Lettuca Wrap but got it in the GF wrap for $1 extra. It was really delicious, I hadn't experienced that flavor in quite a while and it was fabulous!!! My fiancé got the "burrito" containing black beans, rice, daiya cheese lettuce guacamole and a few other things he loved it very much and wants to go back tomorrow! Oh and along with my entree I ordered one of their house made sodas, I got watermelon and it was decent. So for dessert we got the chocolate mouse to share. The main ingredient was avocado... Very strange at first but we were pleasantly surprised, I'd order it again!! Overall I was pleased and will be going back soon!!!!

I am in love with Portia's restaurant. There isn't a single item on the menu that I wouldn't feed my child. There isn't a restaurant in Columbus like it. The staff are all very nice, especially the owner. I recall a recent visit where I brought my 2yr old, who made kind of a big mess around our table. I always clean up the table and floor before I leave (it drives me nuts when people don't). Portia came up to me and politely asked me not to worry about it, followed by telling me to bring my kid again. I know it doesn't sound like much, but I've never had an employee(r) at a restaurant tell me to bring my kid back! Portia truly wants people to eat right and knows that it starts at a young age. Oh yeah, the food is effing awesome. I always get the raw falafel. Amazeballs. Yes, it's high priced, but the service and food quality are well worth it.

My wife and I have eaten here a few times. The food is unique yet modern and the dishes seemed to follow the style of most vegan restaurants in our area. (Wraps, burritos, hummus, etc.) Portia's boasts that their food is bought local and organic as often as possible which in my opinion is very important and definitely a deciding factor on where I eat. Since we usually eat at home and are damn good at cooking, I don't like to eat out unless I know it's worth it. I would say the food here is definitely worth it. You have to keep in mind that local organic produce is always a little more expensive but of course it's worth the price. The most expensive item in the kitchen is probably the Daiya cheese, which I've never been fond of. In fact, it hardly has a flavor so they might as well leave it out and save a bucket of money. I would recommend the artichoke dip and the chocolate mouse. Can't wait to go back!

"Wow" experience every time! I especially love the No Tuna salad (made with walnuts). You don't have to be vegan or gluten-free to love this place!

Came from Connecticut and stumbled upon this wonderful gem. Our large group was served quickly. Felt like a member of the family. The food was fresh, delicious, and made with care.

Every appetizer, entree, smoothie and dessert we ordered was cherished wholeheartedly. Never thought vegan food could taste so good! Friendly people and lovely ambiance.

Went with a few of my friends for lunch. The food is a tad over-priced, but it's still a great option if you're vegan, gluten-free...etc. The setting: casual & clean diner, friendly staff. The food: Most of the dishes we ordered were pretty great (and I'm neither vegan or gluten-free), but if I were the owner, I'd try to make sure every dish on the menu was great because it only takes one bad dish to lose a customer. We ordered: Guac: Fresh, delicious. Chips were also fantastic. Falafel: Not good. They're dehydrated, with a base of nuts, not chick peas- something I don't entirely understand since falafel are vegan anyway. Perhaps they were trying to be the most raw they can be, but in my opinion it didn't taste good. If they're going to keep it on there, they should minimally change the name to something other than falafel since a menu skimmer might not have noticed the nut base. Coconut Curry: Delicious. Must order. Raw Breakfast Patty Wrap: Pretty good, but not great. Fresh vegetables and great vegenaise. The patty is their house "sausage," but I thought the spices overtook the flavor. However, we had it again as their pizza topping, and it was better used there. Burrito Bowl: Pretty good again, but not great. Pizza: Pretty good. I'm not even sure what the crust was made out of, but it was not traditional bread. We ordered it with onions, which was great, and their "sausage," which was good, though it had too much of it on there. Loved their pizza sauce. Berry Cheezcake: Fantastic. Must order. It tasted like a very-berry half-frozen mousse, with a nutty crust

As a vegan in Columbus, there exists a strong general disappointment in all veg/vegan restaurants. Hal and Al's is sweet, but it's so fried to death its hard to eat there very often, especially when you're not eating much fried food on the reg as a vegan anyway. Whole World is good for that old fashioned hippie granola-and-whole wheaty bread kinda thing, but there's a whole new world out there for us vegans. The Loving Hut is alright but that supreme master cult vibe, and the fact that its in a run down strip mall in no man's land, makes it less than ideal. This place Portia's Cafe is a huge disappointment and kinda lame. Its the type of food we can make at home in a jiffy, and with more flavor. I don't get it. I was really excited for a new vegan restaurant. We go there. I order a veggie burger or something. They bring me a little bitty hockey puck on a piece of lettuce. Yum. We had to go somewhere else for dinner after eating here. The food's not filling at all and the portion sizes are teeny. They also have this raw thing going on but to hilariously ironic effect...case in point: they have these nachos which are served cold, but chips aren't raw, Portia's, so I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish with this cold Daiya (that isn't raw, either, so go figure). The nachos are supposed to serve four but barely served two. Have none of these people ever traveled and eaten the vegan fare in other cities? Chicago Diner, anybody? I would really recommend a trip to Austin for a sampling of what people can do on food carts with vegan food, or Portland. Just to see what's out there, you know? You might get inspired and then I might be able to brag about Columbus as a Veg friendly city, or at least one that doesn't depress me.

I live downtown and do not have a car but I will get on the #4 bus any time to have a meal at Portia's. I will be doing so this coming Sunday again. I tried some of many things and everything in the "dipper" was fabulous! The hummus was the best I've ever tasted and I am from NYC where there is hummus on every corner (literally, you have to be careful not to step in it). The guacamole was the freshest I have ever tasted and quite amazing. The spinach-collard-artichoke dip was equally fresh and amazing as was the sunny walnut pate. I had the tortilla chips with the dipper and they were delicious. I shared some falafel with my friend and I suggest you give it a try. Who knew falafel could be so good? Head over there and see for yourself. You will be pleasantly surprised at how happy you feel when you leave there. You don't have to be vegan or vegetarian to love this great addition to our city. The service and decor are welcoming.

I am so happy Columbus finally has this restaurant. I tasted the quesadilla made with the homemade GF tortilla with rice, cheez, and spanakopita mix - it was sooo good that I immediately ordered a whole one. And I'm still not hungry, that was 8 hours ago. It's not on the menu yet, but they said they are adding it. I've been a fan of her falafel wraps for years, but since going GF I thought they were a thing of the past. Now that I've tried her newest creation (she thought it up herself) the GF fresh tortilla, they will be a part of my future. A good amount of variety on the menu without being overwhelming. Good to know there is organic salad around too. Service was pleasant and efficient, and even at 4pm on a Tuesday they had steady business. It feels like it's here to stay, yay!

Great restaurant. Nice to have a gluten free vegan restaurant. It may sound terrible but even the omnivores in my group enjoyed the food. I had a very good burrito made with a gluten free wrap which was absolutely delicious. The green salad made with kale was dressed perfectly. We ended with a chocolate mousse that was smooth and creamy. I do have to say that I had to avoid several items on the menu, because they were made with nuts, but most items can be made without.

Stopped in for lunch today. I was very excited to try a new restaurant especially with raw, vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. I tried the raw broccoli soup and I was pleasantly surprised. I do not like cold soups but this was delicious! I had the hummus wrap which was gluten free also. I thought it was delicious and I was very full at this point but wanted to try a desert. My friend and I split the chocolate mousse. Absolutely delicious. The first bite always throws me no matter who makes it but I loved it. If you do not already have a palette for this type of food it is worth it just to try something different and healthier. If you are already into this type of food it's a must. There aren't that many options here in Columbus and it was a nice change from some other places I've been. Will definitely go back:)
