Went for dinner on a Saturday night having to wait about 25 minutes for a table for two. Well worth the wait! I had the best double bacon burger ever, rivaling 'The Thurmanator' at the Thurman Cafe in Columbus for taste. The bacon was thick and plentiful and blended well with the locally-raised beef burger. My significant other had the beef tips over egg noodles and though the tips and noodles were tasty, the sauce was a little on the bland side. Overall a fantastic meal with friendly though not too animated service. If you have a problem with dead animals on the walls watching you eat, this is NOT the place for you.

On our way from Pittsburgh to Columbus, found this gem via Yelp. Sad we weren't here for dinner, as I was really craving a steak after the reviews. The lunch menu didn't disappoint, though. If hunting and taxidermy is offensive to you, you may want to pass on this place. I did chuckle at several of their quirky, humorous signs, including something about their cows being vegan. Surprisingly, I ended up with a vegetarian meal...the Greek pizza with a side of corn nuggets/fritters. Both with clearly homemade flair- Tzatziki sauce and cinnamon butter were awesome-and the waitress even gave me some extra to go! My husband got the Den Melt and raved about it. Commented that he could tell that it was made from quality beef (didn't notice until later that it looks like the beef is raised by the restaurant owner.) He ordered the homemade chips, which were nice and crisp and salty, too. The service was great, and the price was really reasonable for two of us. Consider taking the extra couple miles off the highway for a pit stop here.

Very good food all considered. Stuffed pepper appetizer would not be ordered again. The wings, steak, ribs, and crab cakes were all very good and definitely worth going for a nice selection. Decor is fun and suits the place well.

Stopped by on a whim while traveling back to Columbus. Out-freaking-standing! Five adults and four kids sat comfortably. Service was great and accommodating. Burgers are solid and, to a smokehouse fan, brisket was awesome.

My husband and I stopped there for lunch today. We ordered sirloin steaks and fries. The steaks were some if the best we have ever eaten! The fries were fresh and delicious also! The service was a little slow, but definitely worth the wait!

Great dinner. Hamburgers from owner raised cattle. Best burgers in a long time. Steak must be awesome if the burgers were this good. Don't be scared by the basic tables and chairs (or the bears). We will be back the next time we are in the area.

Always heard about this place like it was an urban legend. So the Wife and I decide to make a hour and a half pilgrimage to Cambridge. She ordered the regular ribeye and of course being a foodie i get the the 32 ounce tomahawk ribeye. First off this steak was a monster at 3 inches thick and it was one of the best steaks ive ever had. The appetizers was excellent and the service was great.i really enjoyed the atmosphere and even had the opportunity to speak with the owner and he was telling us about the family farm that provides the meat for the restaurant. Overall a great experience and will be going back

Hanging out at my parent's cabin in southeast Ohio, we didn't expect to find a scratch-made restaurant, much less good food. My sister found this place on Yelp! and so off we went, based on solid reviews. It was clear that this is a 'locals' restaurant, but with such good reviews, they must be getting accustomed to irregulars from out of town. Upon arrival, it was a rustic looking restaurant on the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. But the parking lot was full and that is always a good sign. We made reservations and all 11 of us were promptly seated. Our cute waitress showed up right away and took our drink orders. A few minutes later, the drinks arrived. I was scanning the menu for a while because there was a lot to choose from. After reading the history and of Bear's Den on the back of the menu, it became apparent that their fresh, locally sourced beef would be a good choice. Then it became a decision between steak or hamburger. Since the steaks are dry aged for at least two weeks, I had to go with a steak. Now, which cut to get? Well, the most expensive cut was the ribeye and the cheapest was the sirloin. No surprises there. I've had great ribeye elsewhere, so I thought I'd go for it. I also ordered a house salad and asparagus, both of which paired nicely with the steak. Upon arrival, my steak was not darkened on the outside, which is what I prefer. It was slightly overcooked past medium on the inside, but the flavor was very good. The meat tasted fresh, juicy, and very tasty. It was a 12 oz steak and very filling. If I could change anything, I would have increased the temperature of the grill so that the outside of the steaks get a tiny bit of burn (not charred) and the inside stays medium. I don't eat a lot of steak, but when I do, I hope it's a home run. This ribeye was more like a triple. The steaks at Texas Roadhouse are home runs. My asparagus and salad were great too. I tasted some of my newphews fries and they were salty and delicious. Everything here is scratch made, fresh, and locally sourced, when available. Great restaurant! We'll be back.

This place is a darn good stop if you're in the mood for a great burger or steak. Not to mention, the restaurant is a taxidermist and hunting enthusiasts dream come true, for sure. We came in for a late lunch and were promptly seated and attended to...and our food arrived shortly thereafter. GREAT burger! I've been told the place farms their own cows for their menu, too. Either way, this is a great stop for good, wholesome beef and generous portions. I'm an instant fan! You won't be disappointed if you're in the mood for similar fare. Enjoy!

Traveling through the state we looked for a good place to eat and found the Bear's Den. Lucky for us their special was a Roast Beef Hoagie with onions and peppers and any kind of sauce. I ate mine plain and was very happy. The beef was immensely tender, falling apart and seasoned enough to be tasty. Their home cut fries were awesome. Our waitress was very friendly and explained hummingbird cake was a spice cake with cheese frosting--we were too well fed to try any dessert. The menu is somewhat limited for selection but has burgers, chicken burgers, sandwiches, soup and salads with a few children's meals. Access from I-77 is easy and 4 miles east. Bathrooms were clean. The place is a tavern with hunting decor and has picnic tables for outside dining.

Bear's Den is a great lunch spot. I have eaten here for lunch 3 or 4 times, and have ordered The Den Melt and Diablo Burger - both were a good sized portion, and very tasty! The rabbit stew, sometimes served as the special, is also very good. The only complaint I have, which is minor - is that sometimes service has been really slow. I have not eaten here for dinner yet, but would like to try their steak. The dinner menu has more options than the lunch menu.

Although the staff was pretty friendly and seated our party of 9 quickly, the food was sub-par. We waited for over an hour for our dinner, then half of the dishes were cold, and the steaks were over-cooked, made even worse when they had to be sent back and warmed up. I was really disappointed because we had chosen this restaurant based on favorable Yelp reviews. On a positive note, the atmosphere was rustic, but clean and we weren't rushed out once our meals finally arrived.

I am on the road from Pittsburgh and suddenly I realize I have not eaten in over 6 hours while driving west bound on I-70 near Cambridge OH. My stomach is pretty grumpy and sours when thinking about fast food. I pull out my handy dandy smart phone like I was in an episode of Star Trek and do my best Dr. Mccoy by going to the Yelp site and looking for the nearest restaurants in the area. I noticed I was 5 miles from this restaurants. I then channel my inner Smokey and the Bandit (me being the Bandit) and take 77 North for 1 mile off of 70 and the first exit for 4 miles to arrive at this restaurant that more looks like an outpost out of Josey Wales (I am trying to see how many movie references I can put in this review). The gravel parking lot and the new log cabin decreased my expectations - not sure why but thought was I lead astray? I walk in the restaurant and see the results of a taxidermist special because there several stuffed trophies (beers, turkeys, deer, etc...) that made me feel like I was in the final scene of Road House (YAY! another movie refence). It was quiet and I felt a little intimidated I may have made a wrong turn on my culinary quest but to my surprise my fellow Yelpers did not wrong me in the reviews. Food: Appetizer - I order a small order of the texas toothpicks. These were strips but had the consistency of Onion Rings. Onions and Jalepenos were cut in strips and breaded and deep fried with some ranch dressing as the sauce. They were fresh and very good. I think many more places should do these in strips. The Jalepenos were really unique. Dinner - Fresh / dense rolls were served. They seemed to be a heavy sweet bread but very tasty for a weary traveler. They have an assorment of sandwiches and pastas but looking all the stuffed creatures around me I decided to go for it and have a steak. I orderd a 12oz Ribeye with Mash Potatoes and Gravy (they serve spuds in all their varieties and glory). The steak was cooked perfrectly, the mash potatoes were freshly made - I did have to add salt and peper to my meal - your call. Cost: Appetizer - $4 Meal - $22 Beer - $2 Total Cost $28 Ruth Chris Steak for $22 - I will take it everytime. Next time you find yourself on I-70 in the Cambridge Area - check this place out. I hope you enjoy it as much as did. Texas toothpicks - good Rolls - homemade and yummy

I never thought that the phrase "There's some really nice taxidermy in here" would escape my lips in a restaurant. The Bear's Den lives up to its name, as you will be greeted by an enormous stuffed black bear as soon as you walk in the door, not to mention the gaggle of squirrels and other assorted woodland creatures elsewhere. The Den's rustic log-cabin outside belies the good food and friendly service you'll find inside. For a place 5 miles outside of Cambridge, Ohio, there are some nice dishes coming out of the kitchen. I was the only one who got fish, a tasty and well-cooked snapper in citrus butter accompanied by a baked sweet potato and thin, toothsome asparagus. The three others at my table all got steaks, to mixed results. My husband ordered his ribeye rare, as in "wave it over the burner and stop," but it came out firmly medium rare. That was the disappointing part. The flavor, however, was still very good. The meat is dry-aged and tastes intensely beefy. All in all, we were pretty pleased with our food. I will say that this is very much a casual family restaurant and not the place to come for a black-tie night out. The small child behind my husband who repeatedly ran into his chair chased us out perhaps sooner than we were ready. That aside, I'd definitely come back for another meal.

My husband I stayed in a cabin not far, and we read good reviews of this place so we decided to try it last Saturday. The place was packed, and we took that as a great sign. We waited at the bar to get a table, about 30 min later we were seated. The waitress took about 20 minutes to even bring us a water. We ordered, then my husband decided to change his order to the filet. When we finally were able to flag down the waitress, she seemed put off by his request to change the meal, saying it had already been submitted. We never saw her again, so we had no clue what meal he was going to end up with. It took FOREVER to get our food, the waitress did come apologize at how long it was taking after about 45 min. When the food finally came, my filet that was ordered med rare was cold. The potatoes that were supposedly home made were hot, and the gravy tasted like it came from a box. My husband did end up getting the filet... He ordered his the same way, except his was extremely undercooked. We ate what we could, and we had to flag down any sever we could to get our waitress. At this point we were EXTREMELY frustrated at our experience and just wanted to leave. When she Finally came over, I told her that his food was way too rare and we had waited too long to eat at that point and wanted his order taken off. I also told her we wanted the check. She disappeared yet again. And the couples next to us had a problem with their ribs being burnt, they said the place was normally great, and that the server was new. As we were still waiting for the bill, she walks past us and takes 2 other tables orders! I seriously contemplated dropping cash on the table and walking because my blood was boiling at this point. We got the bill about 20 min after we asked for it. The whole experience there lasted about 2 hours. We will NEVER go back. Customer service was absolutely horrendous.

This business prefers 24hour notice for groups and parties larger than 4. We had a family get together with a party of 15 and all of us were from out of town. We were, however, able to be seated together on an hours notice. Seated at 8pm to complete a full house, the main course food rolled out at 9pm for our group of 15. The menu variety accommodated every ones appetite and it was reported delicious all around. There was a newer cook on the grill, per the waitress; the steaks were cooked near perfect despite the noob. I had the smaller NY strip, ordered med/well, and was more than satisfied. My family reported that the prime rib really does melt in ones mouth (cooked rare). All of the appetizers & sides were delicious ~ per my family. The help/staff really knew how to do their jobs well. The business was very clean. The acoustics are loud inside due to the all wood interior. There is gravel parking, and plenty of it. I gave it a 5/5 because our family has some picky eaters etc. and no one had negative outcomes. Hope this Yelp helps.

Being from Hollywood and being spoiled with so many restaurant options I still appreciated the great quality of this place. Friendly people, excellent service, cozy "country" environment, and great food. Its literally in the middle of nowhere, but consider this your pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. Try the filet! Their beef is locally raised and incredibly delicious. There is a cute bar inside as well with great liquor options. Certainly a hangout spot for everyone. I was simply in town for the Deerassic Classic and decided to explore for a good dining spot and luckily found exactly what I was looking for. Thank you Bear's Den! Hollywood Hunter (camera man)

If you are ever in the Cambridge area you will find that there is an abundance of chain restaurants-KFC, McDonalds, Denny's... This place took a while to find but it was definitely worth it! Really rustic, laid back atmosphere, pretty much located in the middle of the woods! I ordered the New York Strip which was cooked perfectly. Also tried the ribs which were the most tender ribs ever! Down to earth servers, too. A great place to go for a quiet, relaxing, and delicious dinner!
