I will say this is my Hometown so i may be a little Bias! I remember a long time ago when before Doug Wright Had it it was a Car Hop called Fred's Root Beer with the ole Neon Root Beer Mug Sign! Then in my teen Doug bought it and turned it into Doug's Classic 57 he ran it out of the Old Red Run down building ( Fred's Original Bldg). The food was classic and turn key with Doug acquiring the building and business and recipes including many of Doug and his Wife Norma's own recipes! They carry the original Stewart's Root Beer and its delicious and the best i can say all around. You get a chilled mug of it when ordering dining in! The food is symbolic retro of the 50's i feel to a tee! You got the rippled wedges fries which you can get regular, with Butter, Gravy, Cheese fries, or a Combo which is cheddar cheese and their signature Coney Island Coneys Sauce! Speaking of Coney's you can get a regular or a 12 inch Foot long, and let me tell you one of them with some fresh onions is a piece of heaven! They also make their own batter which is the batter for their Delicious State Corn Dogs, and Their Onion Rings. The have many Blue Plate Dishes like open faced Sandwiches to turkey and Fried Chicken dinners! Their menu is surprisingly ample for many taste and even the picky eater will definitely find something of their liking! The have cheeseburgers then to the Pizza Burger which is a special burger made by Doug Himself! You have nostalgic sub sandwich called the Mr "B". the The King KONg Burger to the Topper! Lets also do a honorable mention to the classic "DAGWOOD" which features more then you can imagine on a towering build sandwich which will blow you mind! I could go on and on and yes i am proud of my City Alliance and its local businesses especially the ole time Mom and Pop eatery's, so if you want good food, for a great price in a cool Nostalgic Diner showcasing a lot of Doug's very own private collection of memorabilia from way back when, then you must go and try them. You must go and tell Doug himself hi, for he is normally sitting at the counter right besides the Fountain soda machine chooching and chattin with the locals along side with the staff. I will even state for the record i worked for Doug for a short time in my youth and he was a easy pleasant and witty and charismatic, I give this a definite thumbs up and say "Go check it out for yourself"!

The food here is nothing to get excited about. I never choose to come here and am quite disappointed when a friend does. Service is usually pretty good.

This place is in my home town so its got a place in my heart. Its a retro, 50's style diner with the menu to match. I recommend the milkshakes (they even bring you the extra in the metal cup). I usually get the potato soup, chicken salad sandwich, and cheese fries. They give huge sides of fries so get ready for very tasty, deep fried, crunchy fries. Over the 14 years I've lived here I've had a ton of items on the menu and nothing has disappointed. They even have a King Kong food challenge, ask your server about it and check out the same plaque on the back left wall. Some of those challengers have great nick names. The servers are pretty good. the place is one big room so its hard to miss a diner in need. Definitely, a better place to stop than a chain for your burgers and fries.

Cool retro atmosphere...Burgers and fries are nothing exciting, but the Potatoe soup is delicious. Worth a stop, pretty fast and friendly service
