Driving back down from Yellowstone National Park, the family and I happened upon Bella's Restaurant and Espresso Bar in Wells, Nevada. While we had read the excellent Yelp reviews, we were mildly apprehensive because Bella's sits alone in the middle of nowhere. But, we were 395 miles from a large town, so our hunger prevailed and we gave Bella a shot. SO GLAD WE DID! Super friendly and attentive staff, totally clean restaurant, really good food. My 12 yr old son had the tortilla salad and loved it. My 10 year old daughter and I both had the veggie wrap which was absolutely FANTASTIC. Crisp, yummy salad in a delicious dressing wrapped in a warm, fresh tortilla. My husband ordered the burger and inhaled it. He also had the iced tea which turned out to be perfectly freshly brewed English Breakfast tea! Divine! No mediocre Lipton's served here! I was so pleasantly surprised by this traveler's oasis that I bought one of their oversized coffee mugs and I look forward to the warm, fuzzy Bella's memories when I drink my home brewed coffee at my kitchen table in So Cal. Next time we're driving through NE Nevada, we'll definitely be stopping at Bella's.

We were driving through and had to fill up the tank. Same time wanted to grab some breakfast. Luckily, someone at gas station recommended this place. Food was great and even better was the service!!! Thank you ladies for the great service next time we go on road trip will stop by!

Fresh homemade breakfasts and lunch. Full coffee and espresso menu. Lots of delicious options from American to Mexican to salads and soups. They also have a drive thru. Small family restaurant style seating and service. Highly recommended!

One of the best breakfasts I've ever had. Very friendly staff, too :)

What a find! Everything is house-made, even the hamburger buns. Very nice variety of menu selections and the service was exceptional. The barbecue pork sandwich was good, but the cup of chili that came with it was excellent. Nicely spiced but not to hot to handle. Looking forward to returning to try breakfast with the chicken fried steak made with prime rib!

Amazing! Everything is homemade. Wish I had taken a picture of my chicken fried steak (made out of prime rib) but I ate it too fast.

I've been making the trip between the Bay Area and Twin Falls, ID since I was a kid. Wells has always been the town we switched from I-80 to 93 in, and it's so close to Twin Falls, we've never really stopped. This trip, however, it was just myself and my kids (no parents, sister, nieces, or nephews). After a day-trip the day before and leaving early that morning, we needed to stop for gas and food. What drew my attention as we drove past initially was the computerized signage with the Easter Bunny. After getting gas, my kids and I debated where to eat and I remembered the bunny. So glad we stopped. We were greeted immediately upon entering and told to sit where we wanted. Our server, Lilia, was perfect. Attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly, she promptly greeted us at the table, explained the menu to us, told us what they were known for, and asked follow-up questions when we ordered to make sure we got what we wanted with no surprises. Additionally, the other girl on duty also took the time to check in with us whenever she passed by which isn't something you often see in restaurants. I didn't order one of there espresso drinks since I didn't want to stop 50 times on the drive home, but settled for a simple cup of coffee. My son ordered the hot chocolate and my daughter a root beer. For food, my son ordered the kids chicken strips, my daughter ordered "Bella's Breakfast", and I ordered the Corned Beef and Hash. Everything came out quickly and it was delicious. The only thing that wasn't finished was the pancake my daughter ordered with her breakfast because she'd filled up on the eggs aIt nd sausage links but even then she wanted to take it with her and I had to tell her no because it wouldn't travel well. Bella's will definitely be the stop we'll make from now on when returning to California from Idaho.

My Mom, husband, and I stopped to have dinner as we were driving from Montana to California after reading the reviews. We ordered burgers and they were cooked correctly and very tasty. The fries were limp and appeared to be old. The worst thing we ordered were chocolate shakes. They do not use ice cream; rather they use ice, milk, and chocolate flavoring. The are pricey at $5.95 each so don't bother. Everything is a little expensive but the restaurant options in Wells are limited. Just don't order a shake.

Very good option in Wells. The food is fresh and homemade, and there are many options including Mexican and a wide variety of American. Prices are reasonable and service was good. I'd stop here again.

Most awful food I've eaten. Food was praised and explained as excellent and all home made... not so sure about that! And they are Damn proud of their food by the prices! 11$ Cobb salad, 13$ chef salad. 13$ CUP of soup/chili and salad. 11$ 1/3lb basic cheese burger... Soup of the day was tortilla soup: tasted as if it had been cooked for 3 days (rice or hominy) whatever it was was mushy. The chili was gritty as if it had been frozen then recooked then poured over cheese on the bottom of the bowl and topped with onions. And when I asked for one of their "home made" rolls, she said "what home made rolls"? When she finally recalled telling me they make fresh rolls for their burgers, she did bring me one, but sadly it was cold, hard and far from fresh and question if they are even home made. The sausage gravy was said to be home made and fresh, well it was floury, and starting to separate liquid from solid. And the think they are best known for and their speciality is their prime rib chicken fried stake.... who in the world takes a choice piece of beef and batters and fries it?! Just give me the prime rib!! And the service was bad too! 4 of us walk in behind a couple. Hostess seats them, then proceeded to go get them drinks and take their order while we stood there for almost 10 mins waiting to be sat. Food was disappointing, service was bad... never going back there again! EVER!!

Stopped in on the way home from a trip. My wife went to the rest room and the waitress pitched the place to me as being different because all the food was homemade and better than a usual diner. I suppose this justified the higher than usual prices, and also we are talking about Wells, Nevada, or halfway to nowhere. I ordered the meat scramble, cost around $13. My wife ordered a regular breakfast but made sure to tell our server that she wanted her bacon cooked crispy. When the food came out, my dish looked and tasted fine, but my wife's bacon was hardly cooked. When we pointed it out to the server, she explained that the bacon was fresh, and didn't go through the same curing process, and was cut off the larger piece when we ordered the meal. To get it real crispy they'd have to deep fry the meat and she didn't think we'd want the bacon deep fried. So, in the interest of hitting the road in a timely manner we decided to just let it go - after all we still had about 7 hours of driving left to get back home. Then the plate of crispy bacon came out with more explaining on why the order didn't come out the way it was ordered the first time. Dang lady let it go! We're not going to come back here and eat again so don't worry about it. Remarkably, why in the heck didn't you honor the customer's request without an order of baloney to go along with it?

Greasy food and hard, not fresh baked goods. Not a place for dinner if you aren't wanting a heart attack this month. Really disappointing after hearing the "Fresh and homemade" line from our waitress. Hopefully their "Gentleman's Club" advertised on the coffee mugs they give you fares better.

We stopped in during a road trip. Don't let the outside fool you. It is clean and homey on the inside with drapes made of old aprons. They have a full coffee bar and the place was full of locals and travelers, we even saw the local sheriff inside. The portions were nice size, we split an omelet and it was plenty. The service was quick and friendly. I had an excellent cappuccino and my wife had green tea (served loose leaf, no pre-made tea bags like lots of places). The staff made a point of letting us know that everything is homemade including all of the baked goods. Overall, a great place to fuel up on a road trip!!

Wow, the coffee alone is worth the price of admission, delicious, strong and what we really wanted. The breakfast was huge and they divided it between us as they saw me balk at the sheer amount of food I'd seen on other patron's plates. Fresh eggs, sausage and fried potatoes filled the bill. The waitress was wonderfully full of knowledge of the menu and was extremely helpful and attentive. The interior is cutely decorated with wait-aprons from days past. A wonderful spot for breakfast in Wells. We'll come again and again!

Helpful, friendly staff. I think they REALLY wanted me to have the clam chowder in a bread bowl, but I decided to stick with a French Dip instead. Quite tasty and the drinks were refilled quickly. If I was ever going to be in the area again, I would definitely come back here.

I had car trouble that landed me in Wells on a Monday evening. I spotted Bella's Espresso House among the casinos and junk-food chain stores and went in for dinner. I was greeted warmly by a woman who asked if I had been there before; when I said no she explained that everything they serve is homemade, including the bread, biscuits, etc. I asked her what the specialty of the house was and she said, "Chicken fried streak you can cut with a fork." I ordered it, and she was right: tender meat, crisp coating, flavorful gravy. Also on the plate were REAL mashed potatoes, pleasingly chunky, and a nice assortment of broccoli, cauliflower etc. that weren't cooked to death. I had breakfast there the next morning, and the same kind woman greeted me, remembering that I had been there the night before. I had chorizo and eggs: a nicely spiced and generous patty, two eggs over easy, and a heap of properly cooked home fries, accompanied by two slices of toasted housemade (and delicious) whole wheat bread. A most satisfying breakfast. I watched this nice woman and another worker deal gracefully and sweetly with a full house - a table crowded with a dozen or so firefighters, and a number of smaller parties. Everyone got the attention, and the meal, they wanted. As I left to deal with my car trouble I said, "This must be your place, because I can see how much love - and time! - you put into your work here." "It's my mother's restaurant" she replied, "But I treat it as if it were mine." I was not expecting anything remotely memorable when I hobbled into Wells on an emergency tire. I was surprised and delighted by the food and the atmosphere at Bella's, and I will most definitely dine there again on my next trip across Nevada.

First, read Lauren L's review. I agree word for word. We unexpectedly spent the night in Wells, Nevada after a very long day of traveling, and in the morning wanted a place to eat that, as Lauren put so well, did not involve casinos or "arches". We happened to see the sign for Bella's and said "ooh! Espresso & Restaurant! Yay!" and happily pulled in. My first thought was how odd the neon signage was. I told my companion that it "looked like the sign for a brothel" and he noted that maybe they were just competing for business with the nearby casino, and that made sense to me so we innocently walked in. The atmosphere is cute. There is a fun logo of a woman in a funny hat (Bella, I thought) on the wall, as Lauren noted, there are little aprons in the windows for curtains, large decorative coffee bags on the walls, and of course delightful trays of baked goods. It looked homey and sweet. I do not know how I missed the garish brothel t-shirts on the wall at first glance. I think I was too busy looking about the place, and oohing and awwwing (yes, awwing) over the cute little tiny wine bar in the back (see photos). We ordered Americanos, the chicken fried steak and a ham breakfast burrito that seemed promising. The coffee came to our table promptly via a nice waitress and all seemed right with the world. However, as I was drinking my coffee (which was good by the way) I noticed the logo on my cup was of a woman leaning back in a provocative way. I knitted my brows for a moment as I realized it was advertisting for a local brothel. I glanced at my companion's cup. It had the Bella's Espresso logo with the funny lady in the funny hat. (See my photos.) As I again stared at the logo on my cup, it slowly sunk in that the name over the naughty woman also said "Bellas". (Obviously, I'm not a very bright morning person.) I whispered horsely to my companion "Uh, I think this place is owned by a Gentleman's Club!" It was about this time that our breakfast came out. I have never looked at a breakfast more guiltily in my life. As Lauren put it, I felt like I'd quite accidentally but very directly "contributed to the trafficking of women" by ordering coffee and a burrito. While it may be argued that the horror of this thought colored my experience, all the same I will emphatically state that what followed was a less than exceptional breakfast experience. The service was absolutely normal. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. There was only one waitress (I had the terrible thought that maybe all the other Bella's girls were working at the other establishment *faint*) and while the server was polite, took our order quickly and delivered it even faster, she was not attentive thereafter. My ham breakfast burrito was tiny to say the least. In addition to being small and amazingly flat, it was overtly salty and I could not eat much of it. Speaking of small, I received what I believe to be the tiniest amount of salsa and home style potatoes humanly possible to serve a person (see the photo) and the potatoes had absolutely nothing in them, not even salt. I wonder if that's because they used all the salt up in the burrito? :P My companion's plate had a really good portion of food. (See photo.) The eggs were quite good and were cooked very well. The salsa was great. He had a nice portion of the very plain potatoes. But the chicken fried steak, as well as its gravy, was just too salty. I know appreciation of salt quotient in gravy can be quite individual so take that remark with... uh... a grain of salt. But for my companion it was too much and he could only eat about half the steak. The meat was, however, cooked very well and was nice and tender. This was one of the few breakfasts in memory where we both ate ALL of our toast (which was just fine) as we could not finish our actual meal. So great coffee, polite but non-attentive service, a bit of cute atmosphere but some bad (I saw a LOT of brothel merchandise, once I woke up) some good food items but some bad, and of course the whole "contributing to a brothel" thing is why I have rated this restaurant 3 stars. Last note: it's only because it's owned by a Brothel that I won't return if I pass this way again to see if any of the other food is better than what we had on this visit. I personally cannot in all good conscience stop here again, but don't let it stop you from trying other menu items if the Brothel support does not bother you.

We stopped there by accident on our last vacation. The food there was really good. The gravy was spectacular(and I'm a gravy snob) and the breads were all good and tasted home made. I loved the coffee and the chicken fried steak was great. I had soup and 1/2 sandwich and it was PLENTY. It isn't cheap, but it wasn't expensive and I felt like I got a good deal.

I really could care less about the "Gentlemen's Club" connection as this is a review of the food at the restaurant. The food is really good! The coffee isn't really strong but it's smooth and the mugs are big. In our party, one had steak and eggs and said it was exceptional. The home-made biscuits and jam were great. Home-made and made from scratch meals, decent portions. Service was attentive and friendly. Interestingly, while we were there, I overheard on woman next to us complain that her burger tasted "gamey." An employee (who appeared to be a manager) explained that they sourced high quality beef ground especially for them. I think the customer had only had the blanched tasteless fast-food burgers from places with arches or disturbing mascots. Their party got all their meals compped though. This is a good stop for good home made food. I will stop here again.

Good food and amazing service. Took great care of wife, twin 6 month olds, and I. As soon as we sat down one of the boys spilled water on the floor. They were super nice about it and just cleaned it up. They even offered to wash our stuff after we fed the boys. They also have real high chairs. Not the standard wooden restaurant style. The food was good as well. We will definitely go back next time we drive through.

We Yelped a coffee spot in Wells, NV while driving through to our destination. They have a convenient drive thru but buyers beware-- no menu posted for a reason. It was $12.00 for an iced coffee and an Americano. If it tasted like a $5 iced coffee I would not complain, but that was not the case sadly.

On our way home from our 5 day road trip, we did not have too many choices for lunch. We were maybe about and hour and a half or so into Nevada from Salt Lake City.Bella's was highly recommended amongst a small handful of non-chain restaurants in town The staff was friendly and was able to seat us right away. We were told the specials, but because I was busy dealing with my daughter I missed part of what their specials were. I thought I heard our waitress tell us their famous country fried steak breakfast came as a sandwich but unfortunately not. I tried to get my husband or son to split the order because the 11 oz steak would have been waaay too much for me and the leftovers probably wouldn't have lasted the 5+ hours home. I ended up ordering the cuban torta. That was very good. Even that was filling! My son and husband both ordered the philly cheese steak and were very happy with it. My husband loved their homemade chicken vegetable soup that came with the meal. Near the end of the meal I decided that I was going to need some caffeine for the road and ordered the house coffee. Oh my gosh! It was very good! I had two cups trying to savor the taste of it. On our way to pay the tab, the waitress asked if I would like some to go. I kinda pause 'cause who does that!? She told me that since it was unlimited refills I could take some to go! So as I walked out she handed me a 20 oz to go cup! Score! The staff was very attentive, they kept our cups full! The food was very good with good portions. A great find in a small town!

If you are ever in Wells, NV, Bella's is a Must-Stop place. Fantastic homemade food. I had the green chili BBQ burger. Juicest burger I've ever had.

Very good home style food. Everyone in our party enjoyed their dinner. We had 4 people split 2 meals so be ready for large portions. Location must have recently changed as it was different from airport location shown on yelp map/address. Prices were higher as they are taking advantage of their remote location. Very good service as well!!

Restaurant at a major interstate freeway exit. Standard lame fare you would think, but not in this case. Bellas is a pleasant surprise with everything being homemade and pretty darn good. I stopped for breakfast not expecting much, but I was WAY wrong. Bellas is excellent - next time I go through Wells I'll certainly be stopping there for breakfast again.

My family was traveling home to California from Montana and decided to push to get a little further and made it to Wells. Being sick and tired of fast food stops we saw that this place was open so we thought we'd try it out. What an awesome decision that was! They close at 9 and we got there at 8. As we walked in we were expecting mediocre food and dead quiet. We were wrong on both counts. They were nearly full of customers, and the food was outstanding! They said they make it all from scratch and I believe them. The gravy on my wife's potatoes was excellent. My bacon cheeseburger was awesome. Even the grilled cheese sandwich my daughter ordered was great. We were totally impressed. It's a bit more expensive than say, Denny's, but the food more than makes up for it! Definitely recommend!

People were very nice. We were greeted as we walked in, and seated. A waitress quickly came by and took our order. 40 mins later, we received our food. They said the order got stuck in their printer, and they told us they would comp our meal. This is a great sign of someone who appreciates your business and wants you to come back. Unfortunately, we realized this place was associated with a local whorehouse, (this is Nv.) and the bathrooms were filthy. The food was great, and the service was also, along with very nice people. Would love to come again, but the few things mentioned above will prevent us from doing so. Also, while there, a gal came in asking to apply for a job at the whorehouse.

Only my second review, and another five-star one... but this place deserves every star. Bella's Espresso House is truly a hidden gem. I've been kicking myself since I found it for having gone through Wells so often without having noticed it near the highway. It doesn't stick out - the neon on its tall sign is completely out, and some of the letters on one side have gone out as well (It's across from the Sinclair). It's not promising from outside, and the name is somewhat misleading (it's a full restaurant), but given how awesome it turned out, this isn't worth a drop in stars. The food and service were both excellent. The menu is huge (and breakfast all day), though a bit tilted towards the fare one would expect to find in this area (chicken-fried steak, 10oz Rib-Eyes, burgers, huge hearty breakfasts, waffles, Cobb & Caesar salads, etc). Limited # of veggie choices (a few), & some healthier meat options (grilled). /Very/ impressive list of espresso beverages and other cafe drinks one would expect in large cities - lattes (milk, soy, chai), mochas, americanos, cappuccinos, italian sodas, you name it. I didn't try the coffee. I went for a raspberry smoothie, ~$4.50, which was huge - ~40 oz. Fresh and very good. I got the chicken-fried steak as a test, as it's not the sort of thing I generally like (I'd read the rave reviews). It was delicious. The gravy is very good, and I rarely like American-style flour-based gravies. The steak is actually pot roast of the best quality (the diner's beef is local and cut/ground on-site), cooked to perfection, easily cut by a fork, no gristle or any such grossness, breading not too heavy. I was there for dinner and had a very pleasant exchange with the ultracompetent, friendly, funny and fast waitress, who seemed to be the manager and is Bella's daughter. I should note: she warned me the diner is experimenting with dinner, but may return to 9 am-3 pm hours if they can't get enough business. Relatedly, they serve a variety of alcohols including quality liqueurs; you can order shots of these in coffee/espresso. The connection with Bella's "gentlemen's club" - with all due respect to other reviewers, I strongly feel the diner should be reviewed on its own merits, not in relation to the brothel. I have my own discomfort re: gentlemen's clubs/brothels and get why ppl are shocked, but Bella's is a) owned by a woman (makes a difference to me re: exploitation), b) nowhere near the diner & you don't have to see it, c) it operates legally. I feel (again with all due respect) that using the word "trafficking" is a bit extreme, given the common use of it in the context of actual sexual slavery. These women are paid & presumably had some choice in their profession (whatever led them to it; I don't judge them). NV brothels are monitored to ensure employee safety. (Full disclosure: I'm a strong feminist). Finally: we're reviewing a diner. People every day go to food chains and stores whose parent companies & owners engage in what we may consider unethical business practices, yet we still go. We also have no way of knowing that the diner's profits go to the brothel; seems more likely to be vice-versa. It's true the (small & rather discreet) gift section sells items w/ the brothel's logo. Nearly all of these (sweaters) are out of the reach of small children; a child under supervision could easily be kept from anything racy. After all, the two businesses have one owner; it makes monetary sense to double advertise. The rest of the decor is perfectly family-friendly. I would not hesitate to bring my child, as the general demeanor is down-home/wholesome, the tables have harmless joke books on them, the regulars have perfectly polite conversations about local events. if you reads the reviews you'll know that coffee comes in a naughty lady mug, and you can ask for a different one. Back to food. Everything is indeed homemade. You can buy jams homemade by Bella's daughter, as well as local honey produced by the family. I got a decent-sized jar for $6.99 and it's absolutely delicious. There's an extensive pie/cake counter, as well, and cold soft drinks. CONS: None, for me. Some may find certain dishes a bit pricey (the chicken-fried steak dinner was $16.99, a bit surprising in that area); the portions however are /huge/. you will want to take home leftovers. the espresso prices are typical nationwide. Others, clearly, will be disturbed by the connection with the brothel, and the presence of a few references in the gift section. PROS: /Excellent food/; excellent down-to-earth service (the waitress is very, very funny, if you appreciate quick dry straight-faced irony); home-style food & city-level drinks (so to speak) without city pretentions; local and homemade products. I will stop at this place every single time I pass through Wells from now on.

Okay, so you're driving across Nevada on I-80. You want a place to eat breakfast or lunch that does not involve arches or kings or pirates or whathaveyou. Exit at Wells (I think it's the second Wells exit when you're heading east on I-80 from California toward Utah/Wyoming/etc--so I guess the first exit when you are heading west through Nevada) and hie thee to Bella's. Breakfast is exceptional. Whatever you want, they've got. Plus bread and pastries made on site (excruciating to my gluten-free self) and probably the only place along I-80 in this part of Nevada where you can get a smoothie and a really good espresso. (However: I believe the smoothies are made with ice cream. I asked to have mine made with all fruit/fruit juice, though, and they readily obliged.) The reason why Bella's does not get more stars than 3, even though it is my favorite place to stop when we are doing the loong drive from the Bay Area to my b.f.'s family in Wyoming: Bella also runs a "gentleman's club." I'm not sure how I feel about this. I'm also not sure how other Yelpers might feel. It's not near the espresso house business, nor is it visible, but it's certainly advertised on site. It's a bit disconcerting to be sitting in this charming little cafe with little vintage aprons hanging on the walls and then to have your (delicious) espresso arrive in a black mug with a reclining buxom woman on one side. And I don't know how the money works--like, is your espresso somehow paying for trafficking in women? So that part of things is a little sketch (to me, at least). But the food is still really really good.

We travel from Ely to Elko at least once per month for years now and it was a tradition to stop at Bella's. NEVER AGAIN and it's sad! Four of us stopped about 2pm and ordered the specialty x 2, a pancake breakfast and I asked for the Spicy Norton sandwich if it could be made between lettuce LEAVES (I'm dieting) instead of the homemade bun. I explained the process and added that if all their lettuce was shredded, I would choose again. My hot sandwich arrived with a small piece of limp, warm romaine on each side of the filling. So I asked for an uncut piece of romaine. The waitress looked most put out but eventually brought one leaf. It wrapped half & I asked for one more leaf to wrap the 2nd half. We also ordered toast and when we asked after it we were told, "We are waiting for it to cool off." Huh? Our waitress was training a VERY nice Hispanic man to be a waiter. I hope her attitude is not part of the curriculum. I usually take home a couple of quarts of delicious fruit jam and apple butter when we leave, but the last time I did I was told that the recipe had been changed to gelatin recently and that the consistency varied- advised to thicken it in the fridge. OK, but my jams that time stayed runny no matter what I did so I asked if that was still the case. I was smiling and complimentary, too, praising the taste the whole time I inquired. The waitress denied a change in recipe and said that the apple butter was supposed to be runny (not so-the AB was always perfect). It was obvious she was impatient during the conversation. I actually said "Sorry for being a pain," and she turned and left without comment. I then asked for samples of the jams & apple butter so we could pick one for my daughter's birthday present. The berry jam had just been made & was delicious but the apple butter was completely jelled. 'We decided to buy a quart of the berry and I asked her to add it to our check. She sighed audibly and went to ask if the quarts were ready to sell. She returned to say they were too hot, which was fine. We said we would get some on our way home. The check arrived. There was a charge for lettuce - $1 per leaf. I wrote on the check that this was our last visit and why. She returned and told us it was Bella's policy. I said fine but it was absurd. She was annoyed when she offered us the manager and stomped away when I replied, "ÖK". The manager came out after about 5 minutes and defended the waitress, said she had never had any complaints in over 3 years, said too many people took advantage by adding "expensive" items to their meals. When I tried to comment she held hr finger up and actually shhhh'd me. I paid the adjusted $2 check for the meals only, directly tipped the Trainee cash (I'm sure he didn't get to keep it) and left. I will miss those recipes, but I won't support that kind of arrogance. The simpering, sarcastic, ''We do hope you'll come again" didn't help. So enjoy the food if you can stand the abuse.

If you are ever going through Wells's, this is a must stop. Friendly service and the food was wonderful. Everything is homemade including all the bread. Yum!

Arriving in Wells on the long haul between Salt Lake City and Winnemucca, we missed the first exit, where all of the eateries are, and took the West Wells exit. Nothing there, so we circled through "town" to get back to the east end of town. Sure enough, the local deputy pulled us over for doing 34 in the 25 zone. After checking to see if I was wanted for anything, he returned my California DL and advised me to slow down in these little towns He inquired about our car, a brand new Camry hybrid, and asked where we were going. Friendly guy! We told him we were looking for a place to eat and he pointed us to Bella's. He described their huge sandwiches and great French fries. I asked him if he was related to Bella, and he just laughed. We ended up going there, partly because we didn't want to offend (!) and because his sales pitch was pretty persuasive. We shared a Hot Norton sandwich, highly recommended for all but folks on a low cholesterol diet, fries and soup. If you are not up on local folk wisdom, be sure to read the dog eared books planted on every table. Can't say much about Wells, or when we might be back, but it will involve a revisit to Bella's if it happens. Oh, a bit of history might help the casual visitor understand Bella's better. It used to be the main brothel in the county, and nothing stirs up the appetite better than a little whoopie.

Lauren L. has already mentioned the fact that Bella's is also one of Nevada's 28 licensed brothels. Didn't experience that side of the establishment. But I can say that this is the kind of diner breakfast experience that you and David Lynch have fantasies about. Amazing biscuits, coffee, and corned beef hash. They even had a vegetarian wrap that I'm told wasn't half bad. Plus it seems to be all that remains of the town of Wells, NV, which must count for something.

We stopped here hoping to get a break from the endless fast-food offerings along I-80. The menu was a healthier alternative, but the bad service ruined the experience. Our waiter was slow, spacey and sullen. The drive through window seemed to get more attention than the people seated inside. The coffee was very good.

What a great surprise across the street from the Petro truck stop. A very ordinary looking cafe with tremendous service, a huge menu and wonderful food. My wife had a turkey and cheese scramble that she loved. Then things got very real. The chicken fried steak was absolutely amazing. By far, the best I have ever had. An 11oz prime rib perfectly battered and fried. No knife needed at all. The gravy was great also. To top this off it came with maybe the best pancake I have ever had. My wife ate half my pancake and she never does that. I had a latte that was ok, just not spectacular. The guy next to me had an amazing looking cheeseburger. Wells Nevada really surprised me.

Unassuming little place at the US93/I-80 junction. You'd never guess by the humble appearance the delights contained within. Simple comfort food. Not unreasonable prices. Absolutely miles above and beyond most of what I would expect in Wells, which I must comment as a Southern Idaho resident is typically known for it's other variety of establishments. All the food is homemade. Fresh hamburger patties. I had the ole omelet...just phenomenal. And the pancake that came with the meal was probably one of the best I've had ever. It's just regular-people food, but it is GOOD. Like something I would make at home..but I didn't have to, and it's better. We also bought a bag of coffee beans of Highland Grogg based on the smell alone. Really looking forward to trying it. Service was great. Food came quickly and the young guy serving us was friendly and attentive. We travel through Wells on our way to Phoenix regularly and I imagine we'll be stopping here for dinner from now on. Kudos to Bella's.

Since my last review I have been at Bella's twice- and my experience went from good to bad to intolerable. I can no longer, under any circumstance, recommend anyone eat here. Last summer when I was here I asked if an item I was ordering had a specific ingredient. I was assured there would be none. When the dish arrived there WAS the ingredient and when I spoke with the waitress about it she argued with me about it. So....limited choices and a year gone by and we returned this week. I ordered a turkey club sandwich- what arrived had mostly ham, plus pickles and onions on it. When I told waiter the dish arrived incorrectly. He eventually sent the manager to our table. She actually argued with me that these items were listed in the menu as being on the sandwich- she went & got them menu, brought it to our table. There was no apology, she actually appeared angry at me. When she saw the item had been prepared incorrectly she said the kitchen would remake it, but I had to decline. All I can say is, never again. And clearly I would recommend you go anywhere else. The personnel are clearly the downfall of Bella's. No way to give zero stars, so there is one here.

I Had a all meat omelette, my wife had three pancakes one egg and Chorizo patty. Both dishes were good but costly at $31.00 for 2 with a glass of milk. This place is way over rated!

highly overrated! seriously. We stop in for breakfast. The servers are very nice. The place is clean (i did not check out the restrooms). But the food and coffee is very overrated. The coffee was described to me as bags of beans shipped to the owner of Bella's (the sack bags are hanging on the wall for show) and the own sends it to Elko to a roaster (Laughing CAT) who throws all the beans together in a roaster and roasts them (more like burns them). A cup of MUD. Bella's has nothing but saccran, white sugar or some other fake sugar packets in a holder. Surprisingly we were given a container w/ cream (I think) and not little processed half/half containers. So, the coffee....pass if you are a serious lover of beans skip it. I asked about the food. I said "where do you get your produce and beef/meats from" (thinking the cattle might be some of the ones we saw along the highway on sprawling pastures). The reply was "Our food is FRESH FRESH from Sysco". Yeah...right. Sysco (the largest US food producer)...I think not. I ordered two over medium eggs w/ potatoes and asked that the potatoes be crispy and whole wheat toast. Eggs were cooked right...light yellow yolks (commercial stuff), ONE slice of whole wheat toast w/ some kind of butter oil on the bread and the potatoes were these bagged cubes not crispy. JUST SUCKY FOOD. My coffee was so bad I just couldn't drink it. If you LOVE quality food...just skip this place and stop at a convenience store for a little bar of cracker barrel cheese or a boiled egg.

Great diner! We crashed at the Motel 6 across the street during a cross country move. So glad we picked Wells to stop for the night because the diner was one of the highlights of our trip. Very friendly wait staff. Delicious food. HUGE portions! Definitely catering to a trucker's appetite, lol. The waiter even told us the portions can be large so feel free to split. It was a little pricy, around $45 for three meals, but considering the amount of food totally reasonable. It was a good start to the last leg of our road trip.

Oh...WHOA! This is definitely worth stopping for. I've never had chicken fried steak before and theirs is world renowned. And...so delicious. Add that to homemade toast and potatoes and, just, yum! Also, the mocha is a gold star!

I couldn't praise this place enough. Anything you could possibly desire was on the menu and all of the dishes brought to our table were executed flawlessly. I had the ribeye and asked for rare...and it actually was...this request sounds pretty basic, but the vast majority of diner-type establishments manage to bungle meat temperatures. I was also impressed with the veggies, most of the time they come as steamed, lifeless, afterthought. But, the veggies that came with our meals were actually sautéed and we'll seasoned. I could go on and on, this restaurant left me supremely impressed.

As a weary traveller stopping for gas in Wells, NV, Bella's was a welcome dinner destination. Though I didn't sample any coffee, the waitress informed us that their blend was roasted specifically for them. The (very) extensive menu was a tad overwhelming at first, but I eventually decided on a classic breakfast featuring two eggs over medium, breakfast fries, sausage and a house baked English muffin with homemade strawberry preserves. The English muffin was a bit denser than anticipated, but nonetheless enjoyable. The eggs were a perfect over medium and the sausage was fairly run of the mill. The breakfast potatoes were a bit undercooked, but I appreciated their effort to jazz them up with some jalapeños and bell peppers. B went with a chicken tender basket, which stole the show. It was a massive serving of hand-breaded fried chicken and came with a side of fry sauce that's ubiquitous to that region of the country. The waitstaff was excellent and attentive. All in all, Bella's was a very pleasant diversion from the monotony of the road. Would recommend!

The most worthwhile lunch experience ever! All entrees are reasonably priced if the quantity is normal. However, the size of the entree is much bigger than we imagined, which makes the price very worthwhile. We mentioned we have a set time for regrouping, and they are very willing to help work with our schedule. They brought the check earlier so that we could walk off right after we finish the food. They also give us some extra folks for the food we take out. Very nice experience. Also, the dining is a family business, they seems to be supporting their daughter through high school since there are textbooks laying on the register.

I dig this little joint. The service is good and the portions are big. Maybe even a little too big. But it's all good. Good coffee an good grub (not great) comes out of this little hole in the wall. The only suggestion I would give is to use more creamer/milk and less flower in the gravy.

After reading several positive reviews for Bella's my husband and I decided this was the place to have dinner tonight. We left California this morning and are on our way home to Ohio. Wells offered few restaurants and Bella's definitely sounded the best. We were not disappointed. The waitress told us everything is homemade including the bread and bakery items and we could order from the breakfast and lunch menus all day. We decided on cheeseburgers. My husband had slaw and I has clam chowder as our sides. They were great. The cheeseburger was one of the best I EVER had. (And I have had a lot of cheeseburgers!). The homemade bun was marvelous! To top it off we ordered baked items. My husband had his favorite sweet- a cinnamon roll. They called it "mini" but it was large and yummy. He ate every bite. I had pecan pie with vanilla ice cream. Good too. The restaurant was nicely decorated and clean. Very pleasant atmosphere. The waitresses were sweet and helpful too. The cook did a wonderful job and the food came fairly quickly. Great experience. You won't regret stopping at Bella's.

Prices are really high for some reason. Got the Bella's breakfast (biscuit and gravy, eggs, chorizo) which was fine but not worth $12. Biscuit and chorizo were good. Gravy passable. On the plus side, the coffee was nice. Wouldn't stop again.

We've been here a few times now, my husband and I. We share everything! All their dishes are definitely big enough to share and if you're in Wells you're most likely stopping during a massive Roadtrip, so this is the place if you just need to get out of the car for some good food and something you can't stop eating! We have had their tri-tip Sammy and the famous chicken fried steak, love them both. The chicken fried steak is a heavy hitter though, so share it if you can. Waitresses are always great here too! Great service. My only comment about the food is that it needs some seasoning, sometimes some dishes don't but most do. Plus! With all the sauces on every table they cater to everyone with all different tastes, spicy or the most savory of people. Definitely our go to place every time we travel!

From the greeting to the GIANT COFFEE MUGS it was inviting! As they say the chicken friend steak is so tender you can cut with a knife! Giant plate...share if you can!! My only minor issue was it needed more seasoning! But coffee was great, biscuits fell apart! Enjoy!!

This is fine little cafe. My chicken taco salad came in the usual fried tortilla bowl and looked like the usual but surprise surprise! Lettuce, cheese, olives and nice chunks of tasty chicken but once I dug in there was a nice Pinto bean chili on the bottom. Came with sour cream, salsa and guacamole. I was eying the fresh made cherry pie when I arrived but no room left! The place is nothing fancy but I'm giving it 4 stars for the food. Everything is homemade.

Myself and 3 friends stopped here as looked like a good place. Restaurant was very reminiscent of old time diners. We were greeted, seated and served beverages promptly. Coffee is very good. 3 of our breakfasts came out in a timely manner and we're very good.. My friend had to ask if hers would be out soon. It came out and her meat was not what she ordered...they took the plate back and returned it telling her it would be a few minutes for the correct meat. She started to eat and found her scrambled eggs were cold and her biscuits & gravy did not taste right to her. When she told the young lady she couldn't eat it and to just bring the meat and could she possibly get fresh eggs and hashbrowns. The server took the plate back to the kitchen. When she returned to the table she told us she could give her 5% off of the meal but would have to charge extra for the hashbrowns..because she had eaten off of the plate. This really was not acceptable and she said that's all she was able to do, only the manager could do anything else. so we asked to speak to the manager and were told that she was on vacation. We then asked who was in charge and she told us she was, she was the owners Granddaughter but she did not have the authority to make any decisions. my friend said she really shouldn't have to pay for something she couldn't eat. The server left the table and came back with the fresh breakfast which was very good. We got our tickets and my friend was only charged for the original breakfast which was fine. She did tell the young lady that the second meal was very good. All in all food was good....just hope that if something isn't right there is someone working that can make a decision.

It's a bella. The other reviews are totally accurate. On my 3rd attempt to find the elusive chicken fried steak all the I-80 restaurants claim to have, this not only met but exceeded my expectations. Spicy gravy without too much sage in the sausage, huge portion [enough for 2] , fresh sautéed vegies & homemade bread. The ribeye steak cooked as ordered for the main man. Service was attentive & they made it a point to share their high points. How refreshing to have servers who actually care. You were able to have bkfst, lunch or dinner @ dinner. What a welcome treat in the middle of nowhere!

I have stopped here several times. The food is good one time and not the next. I will never stop here again after watching them call the police when a customer rejected a questionable hamburger. A dinner roll sliced in half with a chunk of inch thick charred burger. He did not touch his plate and stated that he was not willing to pay 10.00 for something that in no way was a hamburger. Things immediately went from pleasant to hostile in seconds. I do not think they have a clue about customer service. I can understand the no refund at their brothel. But calling the police over a customer refusing to pay for what he did not order. Come on

Coffee was $6.73 and I gave her $8 and she gave me $2.25 back, not sure if she can't do math or just extremely run down from working at the brothel all night! Bella's is just what you want. We'd been out in the desert and we were hungry. Clean, friendly, food is very good, I was not disappointed and I'm very picky. I had a burger (medium) with fries (fresh cut) and MyLove had a Ruben. Both were expertly prepared and nicely presented. I would take away a star because Bella's is not near my home, but I have a destination next time I'm in the area.

A great surprise. Would probably get 4 stars anywhere, but in Wells it gets 5. Menu is so long it's like a novel--a good thing. I gambled & went for the Talapia fish tacos, which are not battered (other fish for tacos is). Gambled & won. Very good tacos. They come with Spanish rice & refrained beans, a dollop of guac, another of sour cream. Some lettuce & a cup of salsa. The tacos themselves are garnished with shredded lettuce (the leafy kind), onions & tomatoes, & a lime wedge. There are enough sauces & condiments on the table to take your time with. Service was friendly & competent. A nice diner ambience as well.

Excellent food and service! I had the prime rib chicken fried steak, so tasty and great road trip fuel (especially after hours of overnight driving in the middle of nowhere). Cute, kitschy decor (vintage aprons used as curtains!) a full espresso bar, an extensive menu and I think they also served cocktails. I'd totally stop here again if I'm in the area!

Although I walked in the door just 30 minutes before closing (thanks to the stateline time change I made it before closing), the waitstaff were friendly and welcoming. I ordered the prime rib chicken fried steak, and it is indeed as good as its reputation. I only managed half of it; the other half warmed up nicely the following morning for breakfast. The cream gravy is made with real chunks of sausage, the mixed vegetables (squash and zucchini were nicely seasoned). The wifi worked well. (An outlet nearby would have been nice.) The three TVs were tuned to news, sports, and weather, and none of them turned up too loud. As I checked out I added a cup of coffee and a plate-sized cinnamon roll (with cream cheese icing) to go. This seemed like the ideal stop for a cross-country driver -- great food, pleasant waitresses, and wifi and TVs to find out what's been going on in the rest of the world while you were driving.

I'm on a road trip around the US and have driven about 3500 miles so far. It's incredibly rare to find a diner this good and amazing that it's kinda in the middle of nowhere. Just to think, I almost settled for Subway. For specifics: I got a cheese and spinach omelette (not on the menu, but they were happy to add the greens and did it for free), a pot of tea, and a biscuit with peach jam. The biscuit was just a little bit chalky, but otherwise fantastic. Everything else was perfect, including the service and the home fries. The bathroom isn't pretty, but it's clean. Lots of parking and right near the highway. It doesn't get any better!

We were quite impressed with this place. After reading the reviews we decided to give it a shot. I had the best chicken fried steak I've ever had. Big portions with that homemade flavor. My wife ordered a chicken chimichanga and it was absolutely delicious as well. Our brother in law had the enchiladas and said they were great too. Highly recommended!

We checked out the 4 way nearby, and it was totally depressing. Bella's is a much more appealing place ambiance-wise. We had a 10 oz ribeye steak dinner ($15) and tasty homemade lasagna ($12), both of which were big meals. Steak was not as rare as I like it, but it rarely is. Friendly service, very welcoming staff. TV not too loud. They were, unfortunately, out of Guinness.

Menu overwhelming. Chili was very good. Fox News on the TV -- not loud but still irritating.

If I could put a 0 star I would. My son and I stopped for breakfast this morning, which I have done many times in the past since I drive through Wells a lot. He had an unopened can of rockstar with him which they told him he could not have on the table due to the fact that they sold other energy drinks, fine. During the corse of ordering I noticed one of Elko county sheriffs drop off two water bottles and the girls took them behind the counter and filled out of their pitchers and gave them back to the police officer. So while we were waiting for our food to come I asked the waitress how come he can bring outside drinks in and they refill them with no problem. And she answered that if I wanted to bring in water bottles she would fill them for me as well. Fine. Nothing more was said. About 3 min later in walked the two police officers and approached our table asking if I had a problem and threatened to take me to jail for disturbing the peace, which I gracefully declined, asked for my $40 two egg breakfast and pancake breakfast check, and left without even taking a bite, feeling a bit burned by both Bella's and the Elko county sheriffs dept. If this is how Bella's treats their loyal customers then I will never again give a penny of my money to them.

The reviews on this site were very helpful. Aug. 13, 2014 we had dinner there and my husband had the Chicken Fried Steak, he could cut it with a fork, delicious. I had the beef fajitas which were seasoned just right and had lots of vegetables, the portions were ample.

Sub par coffee, cheapest option $2.5 for drip. Americano or fancier more than $3 and poor quality. Oh well.

The coffee is terrible and extremely over priced. They are the only thing around and they know it. Don't stop here unless you're desperate.

Had dinner here a few times while working in the area, and stopped in every morning for coffee. You MUST try the prime rib chicken fried steak. Very hearty and tasty comfort food meal! They do great espresso drinks with MANY bakery options to choose from.

After traveling all day, Bella's was a terrific place to stop and eat! The staff was welcoming and friendly, and the restaurant was very clean. The decor resembles a family diner/truck stop, but the food was all homemade and tasted fantastic! The only complaint might be that it is a bit on the pricey side, but the portions were very generous, making it possible to split entrees. We would definitely stop again!

Food is great; employees a very attentive. Husband and I like to share our plates so we can try different things and without asking they brought out our own plates. Sandwiches are very tasty and the prime rib fried steak dinner was awesome. Restaurant and bathrooms clean. Will be back when we pass through again.

About Taco Bell

Taco Bell is a haven for Mexican delicacies such as tacos, quesadillas, burritos, nachos, and other specialty items. Owned by Yum! Brands, Inc. Taco Bell is one of the fastest growing American chains of fast food restaurants. The restaurant operates from 7,072 different locations which are mostly run by independent franchisees and licensees.

The background story of Taco Bell is interesting and inspiring for budding entrepreneurs. The fast-food brand is the brainchild of Glen Bell, who started his first food venture as a hot dog seller in San Bernardino, California. The year was 1948. After witnessing long queues outside a Mexican restaurant called Mitla Café across the street, Bell saw the opportunity and demand for hard-shelled Tacos. He reverse-engineered the recipe and later started selling Tacos and called the venture Taco-Tia.

Later, the name changed from Taco-Tia to El Taco. Eventually, Glen Bell sold the company to his partner and opened the first Taco Bell in Downey in 1962. By 1964, the restaurant also got its first franchise in Torrance. The 100th Taco Bell restaurant was opened by 1965. PepsiCo acquired Taco Bell from Glen Bell in 1978 and the restaurant brand is currently a subsidiary of Yum! Brands which looks after the restaurant business of PepsiCo.
