Chicken quesadilla was out of this world. Their homemade hot sauce was an added bonus to an already great meal.

These Yelp reviews are surprisingly high. The service was fast and friendly and the restaurant was clean. All of the ground beef is an unnatural shade of red. Picture ground spam or canned cat food. It didn't taste bad, but didn't have great flavor either and there is just something psychologically off-putting about unnatural colors of food. This place has the thick cut tortilla chips and the soupy/stewed tomato type of salsa if those things are important to you. All of the places in Clovis have high Yelp reviews, so it's hard to pick where to try. I give this 3 stars based on the friendly waitress and clean establishment. I don't know what's up with that ground beef though!

Ayayaya! The salsa here is hot, both the choriqueso and the pico. My dish certainly did not lack flavor. I ordered the mini tacos with steak. They made me a fan. My wife ordered steak quesadillas and had a similar reaction. In a town where most food is dry, we were pleasantly surprised by Jalisco's. The meat was juicy and guacamole freshly made. What more could one want? The ambiance is inviting also, generously lit, and I'm digging the seaside mural painted across their southern wall. To top it off, the price does not pain the wallet. In the words of Arnold, "I'll be back".

This Mexican food is very authentic and delicious! I've been there 3 times in a week lol. The Chili rellenos and carne asada tacos are on point. Just talking about this place gets my mouth watering.

Good stuff, If you want something really good and not very expensive, get the chimichanga plate. It's monsterous!

I came here from the LA area. & I gotta say this is the best Mexican restaurant in Clovis! There's no doubt that this is the number one spot in Clovis! and their breakfast burritos are off the hook. The people are very friendly and everything they have on the menu is so delicious!

My wife and I absolutely love this place!! It was the first Mexican restaurant we are at here in Clovis, and I think it was a mistake because we don't like any other restaurant near as much. Very good service, good, and it's not pricey either. Can't beat that, right?

Loved the food and really good prices! Excellent chicken quesadillas good enchiladas and rice and great salsa. Don't recommend the taco salad, not much lettuce.

If you want authentic Mexican food is the place to be. The food is extremely flavorful and never disappoints. I do not know if I will ever be able to eat at Leals ever again. I especially love the menudo.

Chile con queso was the BOMB! The queso had quite a bit of kick to it, My wife's quesadillas were nice and flavorful. This is the first time we have ever seen a place use DARK MEAT chicken instead of chicken breast for quesadillas. The stuffed buritto plate that I ordered was loaded with beef and grease. Just how its supposed to be. The salsa was made with real New Mexico Chile peppers. Our waitress was friendly and the prices were descent. If your not used to real Mexican Food, be sure that you have access to a restroom afterwords. Because the food is greasy and if you don't have a tolerance then you run into some trouble.

Actually quite liked this place! Definitely authentic New Mexican cuisine. Servers, while hardly spoke English (pretty good sign!) were very polite and attentive. Prices were fsntastic, beer cold, salsa amazing, quest yum! my stuffed burrito HUGE, husband's tacos amazing. Will visit again and do a second review. Very relaxed atmosphere.

Craving some mexican food I stopped by on the advice of a mexican. Wow! The beans have this weird meat in them but the chicken taco was hands down the best chicken taco I have ever had. So moist! It appears to be cooked in broth. You have to stop by!

A lot to choose from, friendly service and tasty food! I recommend this to a family or to a night out with the girls.

Third time was Charming! Just can't get out of my box! #11 again. It puts the D in deeeeelicious! Cheese enchiladas which were not over stuffed with cheese and red sauce was perfect. My dinner guest had #45. Tamale, beef taco and a Huge Chicken Burrito! By the cleanness of his plate, I'd say it was delicious, too! Salsa needed a little kick so hostess brought me a bottle do green sauce. Kicked it up perfectly! Taqueria Jalisco is diffidently worth a trip to Clovis! See y'all in August!

Good food. Nice waitress. Open til 930 on Sunday! Ate here while passing through town, enjoyed the carnitas.

This place is as authentic Mexican food gets in Clovis. Definitely not like other Mexican food joints in Clovis (which are all pretty much Tex Mex). Depending on what you order, it can get a little greasy but will taste pretty delicious. If you are a person that can't hold their beans, I suggest that you don't go here because you will probably get diarrhea.

Yummy, yummy, yummy! If you are ready for some awesome Mexican look no further than this amazing place. The Jalisco Burrito is to DIE for. They provide an awesome meat selection for your burrito, but carne asada is my favorite! But don't forget to ask for the amazing frosty mug with your soda or beer it is insane (Thanks for the tip fellow Yelper Jimmy K)! The service was fast and efficient. I will be here at least weekly for the next 4 years. Enjoy!!!

The quaint town of Clovis in the not-so-Mexican town of New Mexico does not have much to offer in terms of grub, but we rolled in at 7AM hankering for some good ol' Mexican grub. And Taqueria Jalisco rose to the occasion. They are slinging out full bowls of chips and guacamole at the butt crack of dawn, the coffee is up and ready to serve you a bout of caffeine, and the servers frantically clean to please. Surprisingly, menu offerings range from pork chops and eggs and the accompanying accouterments for a mere $6 all the way to full-blown enchiladas alongside the typical beans and rice. En route to Denver or back downwards toward Dallas, definitely mark this joint on your radar. From the saucy chilaquiles down to the taco plates to the $1.25 breakfast tacos, Taqueria Jalisco fires on all cylinders.

Excellent Mexican food. This place is great. Had the shrimp quesadilla and was surprised how yummy the shrimp was. Clean, good service, and great prices.

You know when you walk into a Mexican restaurant and 90% of the patrons are Mexican you have hit gold. I ordered the Jalisco burrito which was very good. They stuff the burritos with the tomatoes, sour cream and lettuce which is odd and makes for a nasty re-heat when you take it home, but the first time around it is tasty. The salsa is fantastic with a good amount of kick. If I had to choose between this place and some of the other Mexican spots in town this would be the place I would go back to over and over.

The Mexicans have done it again! First they created siestas, Mexican food, tequila and now they have perfected this Tijuana style diner as a sacred ground of face stuffing. I have been here a grip of times and have never been disappointed. The Jalisco burrito is an easy choice as it is crammed full of your choice of steak, chicken or pork along with a fine array of sour cream, tomato and lettuce. The tamales are not to be trifled with as they will take you on a tour deforce of flavor leaving you near tears of joy on the edge of your seat. OH, and I always order a modelo especial or 5 while I am here for 3 reasons: 1. I love beer. 2. They provide an ENTIRE 1/4 of a lime with each delicious mug. 3. A frozen and completely frosted mug to pour your delicious spirits into.... how the f*ck do they get the glass to stay frosted for so long/??? I am only assuming there is a Mexican shaman in back magicking them down from heaven to be swiftly brought to my table. Now, a word of advice. GET THE CARNE ASADA TACO SPECIAL. Yes, this is WINNING! 5.50 americano for this epic plate of rolled corn tortillas, delicious carne asada, covered in cilantro and grilled onions. Not to mention an amazing seared jalapeno garnish. The service is awesome and compliant to my sometimes odd requests and they always remember me when I come in. Very cool spot.

Had a Friday lunch. The buffet was healthy, with veggies, salad, fruit, and great guacamole, as well as enchiladas and many more entries. We travel all over the country and it beats all the meals we ate in Texas the past 2 days, and is a great deal for the money.

Good salsa, okay tamale, cheese enchilada, chile rellenos. Not so good tacos or burrito..meat tasted watery. But...the red enchilada sauce is good, NM flavor. Not fantastic service or atmosphere.

Delicious authentic mexican food, reasonably priced with a good selection of mexican and domestic beer. I personally got a "combinación" with rice & beans, an enchilada, and stewed beef with onion and peppers for under $8. I thought these plates were a good way to get an overall sampling of the place, especially if you were only going to visit once.

Authentic and delicious Mexican food! It was a group of 8 of us and we all enjoyed our plates. Our waitress was very nice, she even opened the back room for us instead of cramming us into the front part of the restaurant. Big portions, very casual, low-key place. It looks like a family owned restaurant, the staff was friendly and very warm. If your in the area, and are looking for real Mexican food give it a try.

Jalisco's burrito is the heat! On your way to another Mexican joint come here instead.

  • Kosamus C.

Love how much burrito you get for the price. The Jalisco Burrito is one of my favorites in town. They orchata, chips and delicious Salsa helps seal the deal. Only thing I got mad at, was how they gave me a canned LimeArita in a salted glass and tried to call it a Margarita. Stay away from the margaritas.

My 200th review and I cannot think of a better place to review. Taqueria Jalisco was the dining highlight of the trip. As soon as we walked in we knew we had picked the best place for the last night of our Big Bend road trip. The food was wonderful; I had the #36 combo (chili rellano, cheese enchilada, and tamale). Everyone in our group was pleased with their choice!!! And our server was so much fun. She could open our Negro Modelos with a spoon. She said when we ordered our second, she would show us how to do it. Seeing it done and actually doing it are two different things. I did not get her name but she should be in Vegas at some fancy bar, twirling bottles and opening beer with a spoon. If you are in Clovis, NM, get off the main drag and find Taqueria Jalisco.

If you want some Authentic Mexican food, Jalisco's is the place to go. It's kind of hidden in a corner. Their Tilapia is a must have when you dine in. It's offered at a reasonable $8.54 and you get your moneys worth with a large fish, brown rice, fries, and avocado. It's the Mexican version of the English Fish & Chips and it's great because the fish is so rich in flavor. The environment is definitely friendly. With the music blaring in the background and the friendly staff topped with great food, you can't go wrong.

I've been trying to find authentic Mexican Food everywhere I go. I found a great restaurant. I've been all over and always need a mexican food fix. I've tried 3 others in town and didn't like them. Try this one, you will enjoy it.

  • Tim K.

I really enjoyed the food here! I had the Carne Asada Plate. The skirt steak was perfectly done, and it had great flavor. Put this in a flour tortilla with the fixings (pico de gallo, guacamole, spanish rice, lettuce, and refried beans) and it's incredible. My friend had the #36 (Chile Relleno, cheese enchilada, and tamale), and he also enjoyed his meal. The salsa was wonderful. On Wednesdays, beer is a dollar off regular price. $2.25 for Negra Modelo in a restaurant is a great deal. I would go back again and try something else from the menu, perhaps the Jalisco Burrito!

Have been living in clovis a little over a year now and once we had tried this place and other mexican/new mexican restaurants in town....this is by far, hands down the place to go. Me and my husband crave this place at least once a week. The tilapia is great, whole fish fried with all the trimmings. Jalisco burrito is huge for just over $5 everyone loves it. Our absolute favorite is #18 carne el pastor, chopped up pork that's been marinated in heavenly goodness...add the sides of pico into the tortillas you choose (flour or corn) and your mouth will thank you. We're due to go back and can't wait! Staff is great, atmosphere is great, beer is cold and mugs are extremely frosty cold, nothing is missing here. If we ever have to leave clovis, this will be the place I would make for my last dinner...or two.

First half is for my friend who lives in Clovis. He loves this place. He loves it so much he took me there for lunch. He has ordained it his final meal in Clovis before he leaves for Korea. He gets the Burrito Jalisco. Now, he must love it because he hasn't been able to finish half a dish all week (he's been sick). Well, he CLEANED that plate. Now for me... Well, to start this review I went vegan for about 5 months. Even when I started eating bits of meat again, I stayed away from dairy. I believe this has allowed my body to become naturally lactose intolerant like most adults become (it's nature folks, milk is for babies). Being home in El Paso I started eating some cheese here and there. It didn't kill me, I thought I'd be safe...I was wrong. I give Jalisco 3 stars because my dish was miserable. I ordered the Enchiladas de Queso Verde (Green cheese enchiladas). My dish came out cold with a gelatonous layer of cold, once melted cheese covering my 3 enchiladas. The cheese under my rice was still slightly melted, so I know it was melty at one point. Diving into the enchiladas I found the flavor to be nothing special. Hatch Green Enchilada sauce from the can is tastier than the sauce at this place. as I continued to the center of my enchiladas, I noticed the cheese hadn't melted. Well, it had melted enough to makes little chunks of unmelted cheese...not very appetizing. I was hungry, so I ate it. It made me sick for the rest of the day. It literally ruined my New Years Eve (I was bed ridden). I'm pretty sure it wasn't Just the cheese because I had queso in El Paso a few days prior and while I felt kind of drunk, I didn't throw up my dinner like I did this lunch. I'm sure it was a fluke...but in case you end up expelling your cheese enchiladas as well, just know I warned you...

I lived down the street for 6 months and was never disappointed by the food. I recommend trying the horchata to drink (a spiced rice milk) and the table salsa is hearty, flavorful and chunky. Any plate I've had was good, the green chile sauce and the chile con queso are tasty and delicious. The tacos are awesome and you order them individually. They are buried in the menu but come crispy or soft, they're my favorite!!!

I've now eaten at 4 of the many Taqueria Jalisco restuarants in Texas and New Mexico. So far this extended-family operated chain of restaurants has offered the same good food at each location. I prefer tomatillo based green sauce over green chili sauce and Taqueria Jalisco offers both. The pico is some of the best I've ever eaten. Enjoy!

Okay, this place here is basically the best Mexican restaurant in town. The food here is not disappointing and When I am craving for delicious Mexican food, I come here. The portions are perfect and they have fast service and great customer service. This is a mom&pops place, and they're doing a wonderful job on how to satisfy people. I would recommend this place for everyone!

I had lunch there with a colleague yesterday. This is the kind of restaurant I seek out when I'm traveling--a non-chain, local place with great food. I had the carnitas and they were perhaps the best I've ever had. The meat was fall-apart tender, with a roasted, crusty exterior, and moist, juicy interior. The serving size was substantial and the price was right. My colleague had a burrito & enchilada combination; I didn't try it, but it was smothered with cheese and he finished every morsel. The only reason I don't give them five stars is that the chips were adequate, but nothing special, and their salsa was good but could've used a little more kick. Definitely worth a return visit the next time I find myself in Clovis!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
