Cute atmosphere with a great menu! Food was a little pricey, but good. We stopped by for lunch after going through the caverns and sat on the patio. I had the New Mexico Cuban and my husband had the special, a Prime Rib sandwich. Mine was good, but a little dry. He said his was amazing. Service was fairly poor- he didn't come back to check on us until we were finished eating. He did, however, let us know that there was going to be live music that night, and being that there aren't too many "nice" restaurants in the area (mostly diner types) we decided to return for a late dinner. We sat on the patio again. The musician was really good and the place had a great turnout. I ordered a glass of wine and hubs had a beer. They have a fairly extensive wine and beer list- always a plus! For dinner, I had the stuffed poblano. It was presented beautifully and tasted great as well, but was very spicy. Husband had the spicy chicken wrap and a Caesar salad. We had the same server from lunch, but he was much more attentive this go around. We would go back.

Gotta say, this place was wonderful. The staff were very polite, but they were friendly, as well. The restaurant itself is pretty classy. We almost thought we were unstressed, but other people coming in to eat proved us differently. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer. There was plenty on the plate and it looked wonderfully presented. They weren't too soggy or crunchy, but we're nice and thick. The sauce was good, as well. I ordered the green chile burger, which was delicious. It wasn't too spicy, but it had a very good kick to it. It was cooked perfectly. The fries it came with were crispy and we're flavorful. My boyfriend had the daily special, which was a prime rib sandwich. It had so much meat that he had to take some off! All in all, the visit was great. Five stars!

What a wonderful place. We just stopped by, we were immediately seated. Our server was sweet, as well as professional. The meal was perfection... From our crab cakes and poached pear salad to the margarita chicken pops, delicious and finger licking. My daughter loved the New Mexican chicken tortilla soup.

I enjoyed YellowBrix. I got there early for dinner - good thing, the place is pretty popular. They have inside and outside dining, The building appears too be an old house with some of the walls knocked down to create an eating area. The staff seemed attentive. I had the smothered burrito - pork with green chile and with pineapple ancho sauce. Like typical NM chile, it was pretty hot. The pineapple ancho sauce had a sweet tangy taste that went well with the pork. The only thing I would change is the black beans that come with it. They were good, but they are served in a bowl, and you only get a fork. It was difficult to get them all. Loved the food and definitely would go back.

Ordered the green chili burger and the panini and shared with my wife. Both items lacked the special flavor expected. The fries were perfect. Overall we expected more for a restaurant at this price point.

While the servers and staff were very nice, the food was mediocre. I ordered the Thai Chicken Salad and was brought a pile of greens (the kind that come in bags prewashed) with -I do not lie- a pile of cold linguini on top. No chicken. Nothing else at all other than dressing. I asked the server about the chicken (it's in the name) and she realised the mistake. She went back to the kitchen and brought me some chicken to put on top. I asked where the red peppers were that were supposed to come with it and she said the kitchen ran out of them. She offered to get me some green peppers instead which I accepted. Even so the salad was very mediocre. The server was nice however and got me some red chilli flakes when I asked for them. The margaritas were overly sweet and tasted like they were made from a mix. The beer selection was good, though-I should have gone with that to begin with. One of the staff kept asking how I liked the food and I was vague at first but finally told her the truth. She was very attentive to the criticism and actually made notes. I really want to like this place more but they need a new chef!

My husband and I were in the area and checked Yelp and thought we would give YB a try. We were seated and the proceeded to wait 10 mins before a server came by and asked if we had been helped. We replied we had not and he said "I guess I can help you." We then placed our order... two 14oz steaks with sides. We thought it would take 15 maybe 20 mins at most (my husband ordered his steak well done) and almost a half hour later we are still waiting...the family of 4 who came in behind us has had their appetizer and their food is now on their table. We will be paying for our drinks and leaving...we have never had such bad service and we will NOT be returning.

The food was good and the atmosphere itself was pleasant. The staff was also very friendly and accommodating. There was one small issue with one of our meals, but the waitresses fixed it quickly. The indoor portion of the restaurant, where we sat, was very noisy even though there weren't many people there - sound tends to echo and made it difficult for us to have a conversation during our meal. Overall I would recommend eating here; the Mexican Burger in particular was very good, and I strongly recommend going for the Truffle Fries as your side.

Super cute atmosphere, inside and out! All the staff was really polite and attentive, my waitress suggested the sangria and it was delish. My family and I are visiting Carlsbad for a few days, and this was an excellent dinner choice. Everyone was super content with their plate, chicken cordon bleu, chicken salad sandwich, fish tacos and tortilla soup, all superb.

What a gem in Carlsbad. We arrived for lunch and because there was a slight wait we sat outside in a pretty garden until our table was ready. After waiting for about 5-10 minutes we were shown to a huge table and the attentive waitress quickly brought us all water. I can see why there was a wait here. Our meal was absolutely wonderful. I ordered the Fettuccine Alfredo and it was amazing. I think my fettuccine alfredo had truffle oil in it and my son's hamburger was divine (I snuck a bite). My husband had the calamari and that was another win. Everything was cooked perfectly and the service was amazing. Five stars!

If you're a tourist to Carlsbad, as we were, you'll most likely wind up at YellowBrix, especially if it's a Sunday because most other restaurants seemed to be closed on the Sunday we were in town. This is a swanky little joint with an outdoor patio and live music on Saturday night. We popped in for some drinks, only to find that they do not have a full bar (beer and wine only). This seemed to be consistent with every other restaurant we encountered. A quick Google search revealed that it's expensive to have a liquor license in New Mexico, so there's that. This brings us to Sunday when we actually went to YellowBrix to eat because everything else was seemingly closed. There was a weird smell inside the restaurant, but it was too chilly for us Texas girls to sit outside. There's a great variety of food types on the menu, and meals are priced for a swanky little joint. I ordered a glass of wine and the french dip sandwich ($13). It was just ok. It wasn't terrible, but I've had better. This isn't the most helpful review of the french dip, but I can't quite put my finger on what was off. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their meals, which is good. Our waitress was a little clingy and asked far too many times if we were ok. Really all you need to know is to plan our your Carlsbad dining weekend. If your trip involves you being here on a Sunday, save YellowBrix for then. Eat at other places for the other meals so you don't end up eating at YellowBrix twice (I apologize for this advice if you wind up really liking it). I would suggest dining at the Trinity Hotel, which did not appear to be open on Sunday.

Very nice casual/fine dining surprise in Carlsbad. Nice atmosphere and all of the servers were very friendly. Very welcoming to our 1 year old. Nice outdoor patio but it was to hot for us to sit outside. I had the half roasted chicken with asparagus. It was good. My husband had the meatloaf which was amazing. Wish I'd ordered it too. I would return.

This restaurant looks amazing from the outside, clean and well taken care of. The inside was cozy. However, are first impression was spoiled by the host trying to sit us at a table right next to the door even thigh there were plenty of other tables. When I asked for another table not so close to the door he said they could close the door. I said no and pointed to an empty table in the corner. Finally after checking with someone else we were "allowed" to sit there. Not a good beginning. Although they seemed to have plenty of helpers our server seemed to be the only one in the entire restaurant. He was a little busy. He was very nice, but seemed a little new to serving. Not really on top of things. The food was okay. I agree with another reviewer that they are trying hard but just missing the mark. The bread and olive oil had a beautiful presentation, but the bread seemed to be balloon bread from Safeway and the olive oil lacked any flavor. Looked great, but no taste. I had the fish tacos. They were okay. Again, they looked great but not a lot of flavor. My husband's pasta dish (Tuscan spicy pasta) arrived cold and the portion was small for the price. It was also just chicken strips on pasta. Overall just not a great experience but one of the only restaurants open on Sunday night in Carlsbad.

I've only been here once and it was not worth the trip. The staff had been rude and made it so my friends and I would never go back.

Good choice with American and Mexican standards. We had the fish tacos, which were fresh and tasty, the pear salad, and the burger. Everybody happy. Friendly service and decent prices. Would go there again.

Whole restaurant, every detail - pretty and awesome! Food is fantastic!! green chiles!!! Aaron is clearly experienced, and a very personable waiter, made our chai-lappe better n Starbucks! Great job!

We ate here for dinner. This was hands down the best meal we had while we were in Carlsbad. The service was amazing. Everyone was very polite and we never felt rushed. The food was wonderful. I had the prime rib and it was one of the best I've ever had even better than Lawry's in Dallas! It was so flavorful. My son had the green chili enchiladas. It was the best enchilada I've ever had!!! It was filled with goat cheese, spinach and mushrooms then covered in a green chili sauce. The roasted half chicken was really good too. The portions were reasonable compared to a lot of restaurants. We were so full were couldn't try desert but they had some great ones on the menu. We will definitely eat here again if we come back to Carlsbad!

I've never been more disappointed in a place that looked SO promising. The inside is pretty nicely decorated. There's a lot of nice paintings on the wall, a nice glass case full of ice cream and a hostess to greet people. The service was quick and the waitstaff was friendly. But for all of that, the food was severely lacking. My husband and I each order a sandwich with truffle fries. I got the French dip and he got the Cuban panini. The fries were great: nicely fried to a golden crisp and sprinkled with truffle oil and Parmesan cheese. The sandwiches were not up to par. The menus claimed both of them came with Swiss cheese, but instead of quality Swiss, it appeared that the restaurant used those processed plastic wrapped cheese slices that have that distinctly slimy texture. I'm not sure what all the restaurant makes in-house, but it definitely wasn't the bread either. Freshly baked baguettes usually have a nice crispy crust and a soft interior; this one was completely soft, the way only the prepackaged preservative filled kinds get. The meat was ok...nothing special with a disappointing amount of horseradish on the French Dip. I was probably more disappointed in the Cuban. The roasted pork was pretty flavorless, it didn't have pickles on it and it had the cheese described above. I absolutely love Cuban sandwiches when they are done right, this one just wasn't.

  • Steve R.

Wow, terrible service all around. We're there 50 minutes before half our drinks arrive....cold bread upon arrival takes 15 minutes to fix....waters go empty for 25 minutes....would have loved to have tried the food but walked out because it was so bad. Waitress blames everyone else, management blames it on a printer issue, nobody takes ownership.

The best meal of our New Mexico trip! Great patio, food and wine!!! Owner very nice as well.

We really liked YellowBrix - it was something different we didn't expect to find in Carlsbad. A little on the pricey side but I don't think it is an everyday kind of place. We had the prime rib and salmon - the prime rib was good but the salmon was over cooked a bit. Our service was good. A band was setting up outside when we left - wish we had been able to stick around to listen!

While on a family road trip we stopped into town late one evening. This was the only restaurant open late. So glad it was. BEST MACARONI & CHEESE EVER!!! like EVER. But not only that...burgers were delicious, fries... yummy, portions... incredible, live-music-amazing, service...fantastic! Eat here!!

This was the best complete meal we have had in a long time. The wine was excellent and the calamari. I had the fish tacos and my husband had the steak. Our service was excellent as well as the food. Well done Yellow Brix! We will be back!

Yellow Brix Restaurant is on the main road through Carlsbad NM. Charming place with outdoor dining if you like. My man and I visited for a late lunch. The menu offers a nice choice of tapas, and larger meals. We ordered the Chips and Salsa to start. The chips are clearly home made. Could have used some salt, but were good, and the salsa green from tomatillos. Yummy with just the right amount of heat. My man ordered the Cuban sandwich and says it may be the best pork cuban he has ever had. That is saying a lot because he has eaten a lot of Cuban Pork. I chose the pear salad which was a nice sized portion of fresh mixed field greens with red wine soaked pears, walnuts, feta cheese and crasins. All the ingredients were generous and the dressing perfect. Our server Izacc was attentive to detail and the food served timely. The rest rooms were sparking clean too.

Ate here by luck with the fam and loved it. Mac and cheese for the kids is one of the best I've had anywhere. The kids burgers are as thick as the adults and the meat is top quality. Great service and very good food.

The best restaurant in town! I eat here at least once a week. Service is awesome! Derrick is the go to waiter! The food is outstanding and the wine list is perfect!

First of all, their name is spelled wrong on the Yelp app & their paid ad! Also, on our receipt, avocado was misspelled. They charge $2 for a QUARTER of an avocado if you add it to a meal. I specifically asked for my burger with no bun or cheese and it comes out with a nice big piece of "cheese food" melted on it. When I tell the waitress I can't have dairy and asked for it without cheese she just looks at me. So I say I'll try to scrape it off, hoping she will apologize and bring me a new burger, nope. Depending on where you're sitting, you can see the computer screen and watch them enter everyone's credit card info manually!!! With a few minor tweaks, this place would get a better rating from me.

Happened to find this place on Yelp when we were visiting Carlsbad. I'm vegetarian so it is a little bit harder for me to find restaurants with vegetarian options. However, after a glance at the menu, I realised they had at least one thing I could have. When we arrived, they were friendly and welcoming. Our server was very nice (unfortunately I can't remember his name; bad on my part). I asked him about vegetarian options, and he mentioned that I could get the spicy chicken pasta without the chicken. He suggested I add some green chile in it since I wasn't getting chicken. That green chile was a great idea! It went perfect with the pasta and other veggies that came in it. My fiancé got the pasta with shrimp in it and said he really enjoyed his too. We also noticed they had a decent beer selection which we weren't expecting to find in Carlsbad. They also have really nice outdoor seating. However, we chose to sit inside because it was a hot day and we had just finished spending some time at the park. We were ready for some air conditioning, lol. They kept my water glass full constantly which was awesome because I kept drinking it up like a fish out of water. All in all, we love this place and would definitely go back!

Food was good but wait for food was terrible!! The kitchen screwed up and we had to wait 45 minutes for our meal with 2 young kids. That type of mistake should have been countered with a % off or something not just sorry.

Fanastic food and excellent service. Staff wasn't too pestering, but always quick when needed. Only issue with me is how management talked to their staff. Kinda dulled the atmosphere. Well worth the money though, best food I've had in carlsbad thus far.

Loved it! Just passing through town on vacation and, following the recommendation of our hotel clerk, stopped in for dinner. So unexpected for this little town! Service was prompt and friendly. Every detail was attended to regarding presentation. Each dish was obviously put together with pride. My son has a steak- amazing flavor! I had a berry spring salad with chicken-freshest berries, chicken was delicious, with a lovely strawberry vinaigrette dressing! Thoroughly enjoyed

Excellent service, presentation of the food and the taste: overall a good restaurant for traveling through the city. Can be a little expensive, but with 5 star quality food what else can you ask for? Great beer and wine selection making the experience that much better. Glad we came in to eat here during our trip

Food was pretty good, had Shrimp pasta and calamari, which was surprisingly good considering you're in the middle of nowhere and sea is hundreds of miles away, so props for serving fresh good tasting seafood! Pricewise though... not so good, very expensive, I get the concept, high-end fancy restaurant, but probably the only one in town, I pay this much back home in San Diego, which is understandable, it's California, everything is expensive there, but well worth it, but here, not so much. Service was very good, our waitress was on it, so no complaints there. Overall a good experience and by far best restaurant I've been to on this side of the country (I've only been to Las Cruces and Carlsbad)

During high school and college, I waited tables at a handful of restaurants. I was horrible. Can't believe anyone tipped me at all. I was young and waitressing was a fun past-time, not a prime career - just for sport & extra money to spend on whatever-tickled-my-fancy. Improving my server skills and aspiring for more was the last thing on my mind. I imagine, my young waitress at YellowBrix is in the same position. Super duper nice, but not following quality serving skills. I discovered this restaurant when merely driving by on my visit to Carlsbad. It looked so hip, so cool, and so totally different than anything else offered, that I knew I'd be eating here. The owners / management have dreamed big and seem to have a great niche. This place is beautiful! The outdoor patio area is spacious, landscaped impeccably, and designed well. I bet the food is great. Yes, I did eat it, but had a special incident that affected its quality. I told the busboy that I prefer gluten free, so no bread please. He did not convey this to my waitress and I didn't reiterate it, so my steak was smothered in the crab sauce, which contained flour. When the waitress attempted to serve me bread 10 minutes after the busboy, I realized I should speak up. Thank goodness she did tell the chef who took off the crab sauce. (I get severe arthritis when I eat wheat/gluten) My guess is that the now-smothered-steak was washed off and re-grilled to heat up. I say this since I ordered medium-rare and received medium and it was not hot. Because this mix up was partially my fault - I should have mentioned gluten allergy to the waitress - I said nothing and ate a medium, slightly warm steak with plain crab meat on it. I would have eaten that sauce assuming it was clear, so I'm incredibly grateful to the waitress and chef for taking the sauce off. Everyone here is just so kind, so ready to help, and so enthusiastic, that I can't help but love it. May I offer a few pointers?: * Clean up the service staff! Get a proper hostess who knows how to run things, hire someone to come in and whip those cutie-pies into shape. If they learn how to work it with sophisticated up-selling, charm, and panache, then they make the owner more money and themselves more money in tips. It's like everyone is floundering around. Who does what? Do they have tasks that they are assigned each night? What direction are they given? Who's running the show? * Here's a fun suggestion: Owners and management should go to Santa Fe for a day or two. Eat at both The Compound and Geronimo's. Those eateries have a finely-tuned serving machine. They are the best of the best. Linger and pay attention to how things are run. Ask to speak to the management - I bet they would love to offer some pointers and helpful suggestions. (Not at peak, busy times, of course.) Visit Albuquerque too. * Salt & pepper on all tables. I had to ask for mine. * My check came before I was done with my meal. I really wanted to see about coffee or (fingers crossed) gluten-free dessert. Although, that poor girl was probably ready to get rid of me. * Water. Give someone the job of filling water. Walk around frequently with a pitcher or carafe. Pleasepleaseplease. * Communicate. If a snafu comes up, approach the customers and ask for input. (ask me if I want just plain crab or skip it altogether.) YellowBrix is just so amazing that I really want it to succeed! What will it take to make it the best restaurant in Carlsbad? It's got a great start and what else is possible? (I visited this establishment in March of 2014.)

Okay let me quantify my ranking as best as I can. Service: great Food: very good Timing: so so. ( the food is prepared there.) I will definitely come back. In my opinion this is the only restaurant in Carlsbad NM.

We arrived at 8:40pm and were seated. Restaurant closes at 9pm. The wait staff was very courteous despite our arrival time for dinner. I ordered the scallops which were not the greatest since "seared" to me means a little blackened on both sides not pan-fried. It was decent. The other entrees were the peppered rib-eye and the blackened salmon. I had a taste of all three and by far the blackened salmon was the best. There is a dessert bar with lots of chocolate tidbits and gelato (pics are posted on Yelp.) Service was good. Aside from Carlsbad being a small town this is one of the best restaurants by far.

7-5 visit. Sevice was great. Ceaser salad was wilted. Tortilla soup was too salty. Burrito dinner was way too hot for my taste with no warning.

If I had posted a review either of the last two times I ate here, I would have given them 4-5 stars. However, today's experience was horribly disappointing. I ordered a child-size burger (1/4 pound) with no bun and with green chiles and cheese, with fries on the side. My guy ordered a Cuban. My burger was burned beyond the point of being edible. My server was wonderful. He took the burger back and ordered me a new one. Burger 2 came...still burned but at least edible...just barely. The only saving grace was the green chiles. My guy reported his sandwich was OK at best. The Swiss cheese tasted like a processed product. Again, the green chiles were the best part. The fries were tasty but undercooked. Yes, I could have sent the meal back again, but by that point I was done. We turned down the offer of a free dessert as compensation. The jury is still out whether or not we will give them another try.

We are from out of state and are used to great food. Passing through for the caverns and went here first for dinner and it was so good we came back the next day for lunch. Food was absolutely spectacular and I am a picky foodie. Got the prime rib (a vey large and generous slab) which was cooked rare and just as I expected it. My dish was paired with au jus and the perfect accompaniment of horseradish. Even came with 2 sides of my choice; amazing mashed potatoes and a side salad with the best house balsamic dressing I've ever had. My girlfriend got a veggie sandwich which even came with a side as well and she picked the baked penne (their version of Mac and cheese) and it was creamy, flavorful and very good. When we came back I got the Cuban sandwich and she got the pear salad. Their portions are extremely large and generous for a very cheap price and cooked or prepared to perfection. All the people we had serving us were very attentive and helpful. If you're looking for local eats, good prices and food that won't disappoint you have to come here when pasig through (or even living) in Carlsbad!

Very good food in a really neat location. The fish tacos were ok but the salmon over pasta was Excellent!! The charro beans were tasty but muy pica! The molten chocolate cake with vanilla gelato was decadent!!

Some of the worst food I've ever had in fact the cheese that came with my so-called Cuban sandwich was actually processed cheese yuck! Also the fettuccine that my nephew ordered didn't come with any sauce in fact it was only garnish with a little bit of parmesan cheese. The kitchen messed up my mother's sandwich after she specifically asked for sourdough bread she was given cheap wheat bread. Then to add insult to injury the bill for 4 people was almost $100 without any alcohol. Never going back and wouldn't wouldn't wish this experience on my worst enemy let alone people that I care about.

I got there and they told me 20 minutes to sit 30 minutes to order. Ten minutes later I ordered, twenty minutes later I had my food. They did all the substitutions I needed for my dietary restrictions without a hassle. The veggie sandwich was hands down the best veggie sandwich I've ever had. The veggies were cooked and marinated well. The greens were dressed well. The red pepper hummus is incredible. Great beer and wine selection. This is the best spot in town easily.

Literally the only place worth stopping at in Carlsbad. Service was prompt, atmosphere was great, and the food was delicious. We ordered the fish tacos and the Mexican Burger. Both were amazing. The fish tacos had a mango salsa on the side which complimented the tacos wonderfully. The Mexican burger was wrapped in a Chipotle tortilla and it was cooked to perfection. Don't waste your time anywhere else in Carlsbad-go here.

Take in to account your in Carlsbad NM. This was a good little place to eat. Ordered the NY steak. Cooked good, big and tasty. Service was a little slow but the steak was great and potatoes were excellent.

Why aren't there more yelps on this place. This is one of two good restaurants in Carlsbad. Stopped here late (8pm) after the Bat Flight Program at the caverns was cancelled due to weather. I had the pear salad and my husband had the chicken. The salad was a good size but the pears were a little hard. The chicken was a little smaller than my husband expected but very good. We also had a lemon bar which was tasty. The decor was very nice, loved the interesting paintings throughout the restaurant. I have also posted this review on Tripadvisor.

Great site for Carlsbad, which can be a little sparse on the restaurant scene. Grilled pork chop was delicious, kids pasta was great, and chicken cordon blu had great flavor. Good beer and wine selection and fresh gelato. Outdoor dining was nice option this time of year and band made for great ambiance. Staff was friendly and good with the kids.

I really wanted to like Yellowbrix. I really did. My husband (oooooo I like saying that!) and I spent the night in Roswell on our way to Santa Fe for our honeymoon. As we drove through town this cute little place appears to us. U-TURN! We couldn't find it on Yelp at first so assumed it was new. The service felt new. The grounds had a new feel. The first clue should have been that they misspelled Bisk....it's bisque honey. The second clue was that the hostess/server handed us, yes handed us, our menus and told us to sit where ever we liked. If you're trying to be upscale, that is a no-no. Offer to let us sit where we like on the patio, fine, but then politely BRING us our menus. Service 101 folks. Our server was a sweetheart and for his part I want to say that the ownership should arm their staff with better training and they need someone to redo the menu. The Three Onion Soup is described as a three onion soup with a wine and beef broth. Imagine my surprise when after I mentioned my Gluten allergy (which the menu asks for all guests to please inform their servers of) I receive a French Onion style soup complete with bread. Gluten people! If you are going to take the time to tell your guests you care about their allergies then learn what those are and teach your staff! Before our Poached Pear Salad (the hit of the meal) and my reworked onion soup were even half eaten our entrees arrived. Why in such a rush kitchen dudes? Why didn't our server stop this? The place was no where near packed. At this point we are fairly dismayed but just plain laughing at this mess of a restaurant. Have I mentioned the multiple personality music choices? We didn't even tell our poor server that my husband's tenderloin (which had been CUT open before serving to us) was purple RARE instead of the medium he ordered. No matter, we took it to our room and nuked it in the hotel microwave to a proper medium rare. My porkchop, although served with a lovely cream and cranberry sauce, was tiny and fat, fat, fatty! As we end our meal we can't resist but ask our server how long they've been open. A month? Two? We couldn't hide our utter shock when he said 4 years. So here's the deal gang. It's a decent establishment. A bit overpriced. The grounds and facilities are uber cute. You can tell there is pride there. If you live in Roswell and upscale is what you want, I guess this will do. If you're a foodie traveling through and just want a glass of wine and a salad, sure. Enjoy the lovely patio. But I don't recommend this for a fine dining experience. Good luck to the owners and staff. 4 years is hard to come by in the restaurant biz....but I felt a treading water vibe. May I nominate y'all for Restaurant Impossible though? Just a fleeting thought.

What a pleasaant surprise to find San Francisco quality, presentation and service in Carlsbad NM at the Yellow Brix! Their Valentine's evening dinner was delicious:: perfectly smoked salmon apppetizers, Texas sized and tender rib eye steak, tasty flourless chocolate cake. Servors Sonja and Clarissa (?) very efficient and sweet. Treat yyourself to Yellow Brix.

Awesome food, awesome environment, great beer selection and great service. I had the fettuccini alfredo with chicken and some beer. For dessert I had the raspberry cheesecake. It was amazing. Definitely will come back when I'm in town.

Great potential for a town like Carlsbad, but it just didn't quite come through. The love music on the patio is fun but was a little loud for a dinner date. The servers in general just seed disorganized and poorly trained, or perhaps poorly managed- a manager came to ask how our server was doing and said it was only her second night to work there so they wanted to "throw her in and see how she does." No wonder she didn't know their beer and wine list. The calamari was pretty good, but my fish tacos needed seasoning on the fish and a lot less cabbage, and the rice side was terrible. My husband ordered a spicy shrimp pasta which had good flavor but they didn't cut the tails off the shrimp which is unacceptable for a pasta dish you will be eating with a fork! We had creme brûlée for dessert and it was tasty but another table's came out with a fresh fruit topping and ours was plain, and we'd not been told that was an option. This place is trying to do fine dining but could benefit from watching some food network shows to learn more about running a restaurant. If back in Carlsbad again, we'll try something else.

While I've only been here once, I was thoroughly impressed with the wait staff and the atmosphere in general! Beer selection was pretty good, from the Houston area so I'm spoiled on craft beers. The La Cumbré Ipa was delicious! Excellent flavours and bitterness! The Ribeye au poive (whatever that is, means pepper sauce here) Was delicious and cooked excellently! All in all, would definitely come back!

I can't say I was impressed by this place. While the scallops with fettuccini was delicious and perfectly cooked, the portion was incredibly small for the price. Since I wanted more food, I ordered the truffle fries, which I never received. Also, my boyfriend ordered his overcooked burger with green chilies and he did not receive those either. Overall, it's decent, but I'm sure there are better places to eat, with more reasonable prices and better service.

Wow! Carlsbad is moving on up. The menu has a great variety of delicious choices. Actually went twice during my trip and highly recommend the crab cakes and a glass of red wine. Even the wine list was impressive for such a small town. Outdoor dining with live music on Saturday night was a plus.

Service is pretty bad. The table had to wait forever for food. Ran out of French onion soup and pork belly - but didn't tell us until much later. Had to keep guessing what was available on the menu. Appetizers and meal came out at the same time because of all the mistakes and food running out. The steak was overdone - and had to be sent back. Drinks were refilled only when asked. They comp'd dessert - but then had the audacity to add an 18% tip. There weren't that many people there to warrant such bad service. Until the kitchen and wait-staff get their act together - I'd recommend avoiding this place - the food was good - but not good enough to make up for the lousy service.

There are a couple of things to know about Carlsbad. First, a lot of places come.... and go. It's a little like the foodie version of Project Runway. "One day you're IN and the next day you're OUT". This can be so true for restaurants (and other businesses) in Carlsbad. The other thing. Good custom roasted coffee is hard to find (Blue House & Trinity Hotel), and only one place does their own LOCAL roasting. Yellowbrix is it. You'll not even find a Starbucks in town. First off, the coffee at Yellowbrix is GREAT. It's a small bit of the Portland coffee scene right here in Carlsbad! We also had lunch. Honestly, while the menu looked good, the sandwiches could use a little bit of improvement. I ordered a Reuben Sandwich which on arrival looked thick and promising until I realized that I was staring at 2 half-sandwiches stacked one atop the other. A good Reuben HAS to have a STACK of meat and sauerkraut. This one had a thin line of each. The shoestring fries (I really don't like shoestrings) were advertised on the menu as "Truffle" seasoned. I think the truffle powder(?) may have been the granulated stuff covering the fries that did little if anything to add to the dish. Truffle is one of those things that is better left off if it isn't actually "real" truffle, and no one could afford to put real truffle on a French Fry. The Dessert case called to me as I entered Yellowbrix. I knew I had to save room for a little of these delights as a follow-up to lunch. I ordered a chocolate bunt cake heated with ice cream. In Carlsbad, quite a few places offer a similar dessert. Chili's has a very good one- a "volcano" cake. So I had high hopes. After all Yellowbrix imagines itself an upscale style of eatery. So was I ever disappointed to find the cake reminding of the old style "Wacky Cake" we used to bake for our kids as a quicky treat. It even had the strong baking soda/powder taste. It really doesn't measure up. Our server was sweet, but only fair. Coffee refills came on request only and there was no half and half available. I had to track my server down to ask for dessert, She was a bit too quick to bring us our check when we were obviously not finished. After this critical review, I will also say Yellowbrix is a beautiful restaurant. I love the patio. I hope they work to improve the food to match the environment.

We stopped here for lunch on a road trip to Ruidoso. My fiancé ordered a burger cooked medium and it came out well done and dry according to him. I'm a vegetarian and even I could tell that it was overcooked when he showed it to me. The bun was also dry. The fries that he ordered as his side were soggy...I don't mind them like that but he hates it. He also requested that jalapeños be added to his burger. Two whole, raw jalapeños came out in a ramekin with his plate. When he asked why they don't put them on the burger our waitress said it's because people say they are too hot sometimes. Weird, but whatever. There was also a $2.00 charge for TWO jalapeños. We didn't notice jalapeños listed as an add-on on the menu and if they are going to charge that much for them they should probably let people know up front. Since they are basically charging $1.00 per jalapeño, maybe just start with one instead of two. That's a bit much for literally about 15 cents worth of food that you get to cut yourself...with a butter knife. I had the veggie sandwich with a side of coleslaw and both were just ok...definitely not a $10.00 lunch though. For Carlsbad, this place might be good, but if I ever find myself in these parts again I will be looking elsewhere for a meal because I can find mediocre for cheaper at a number of other places, I'm sure. That lunch was NOT worth the $24.00 bill that came along with it.

Yellow Brix: overall really good experience. If I could, I would rate this a 3.5, and not a solid 4. Its kind of a fancy small town cafe. Nice napkins, glass table tops, pricey options for both lunch and dinner. We came for lunch and the food was by far the best thing about the place! I had the French dip sandwhich and boy was that tasty. Probably the best sandwhich on the menu. Cuban and philly cheese steak sandy are also pretty good. With lunch items you get a a side item so i got the tortilla soup. Definitely one of the best tortilla soups ive ever had. It was really authentic, had a bit of spice to it, and best of all it had avocado sliced on top. I do have some complaints about it though. First the service wasn't up to the standards i think it should have been at. Our waiter was nice, but wasn't the best comunicator. He was kind of soft spoken. Second, the prices were a bit high for lunch items (French dip was $15). Thirdly, it took them a while to bring us our food after we ordered, but it was worth the wait because it all looked great and tasted great. If you've got the time, come check it out!

I seem to have had a much different experience than the other Yelpers, which bums me out. We arrived with 9 people. I understand that's not your average group size, but the hostess seemed really inconvenienced that she would have to pull two tables together, so right away we were not feeling very welcome. They could only fit 8 of us at a table and so 2 from our party sat across the restaurant at a separate table. I also understand they have a small kitchen. But our 2 friends who sat across the restaurant ordered, ate, and paid before we got our food. We ended up waiting about an hour for our food. It's not like there were 20 of us! There were 7- it's not too uncommon of a number for a restaurant to accommodate. The bread guy deliberately ignored us when we asked for more bread, and I saw him and the hostess roll their eyes at each other after each time he visited our table. When we finally got our food, EVERYTHING was overcooked. I ordered my burger medium, and it came out black and dry. Everyone at the table said their chicken was dry and overcooked as well. For the price, it was completely unacceptable. I would not have paid $3 for that burger and I think they charged $13. So, overall, I felt very unwelcome. Although our waiter was spirited and friendly, the attitude of the other employees and the constant eye rolling that I witnessed made me feel unwanted. The wait was not worth the food and I would not waste my money there again.

Beer selection was good, food was okay. I had the French Dip -- it wasn't the best I've had, but it satisfied. My hubby had the Cuban panini and really enjoyed it. He felt it was well worth the price, but mine and the kids meals really didn't make the higher price tag worthwhile.

AWFUL! Hateful hostess, 30 minutes before we were approached by wait staff, watery, tasteless soup and the best part (sarcasm) was the price. Too expense for bad food!

Was in Carlsbad for a night after visiting the caverns. It was a Sunday night on Labor Day weekend and hardly anything was open other than the chains. But Yellowbix was one of the only local joints open and Yelp reviews were decent enough. My girlfriend and I are vegetarians, so we quickly scouted out our options - a couple pastas seemed to be about it for entrees. We ended up getting the caprese salad and a cajun pasta with vegetables. The food was all good, and the veggies seemed to be local and were the best part. The dipping oil that came with the bread was full of garlic, parmesan and red pepper flakes. It was excellent. We couldn't have enough. We also enjoyed some New Mexico beers we'd never had that were good. Service was okay. One of the owners shared with us an odd story of being on a Lifetime reality show. The server was kind, maybe a bit absent at times, but we were in no rush. Only complaint was that the prices were a bit steep, but I guess that's the price you pay for wanting decent food in Carlsbad, New Mexico, which I hope to never visit again. But if you're in Carlsbad and want something other than Chilis or BBQ, I'd recommend Yellowbrix. But my advice would be don't go to Carlsbad (other than the caverns).

Loved it! We arrived early, around 5, so no wait. The crab cakes were wonderful. The pear salad was lovely. My husband's steak was cooked perfectly. The atmosphere was very nice, even the music was a great mix. Highly recommend it. We had a fantastic dining experience which is hard to come by in this area.

Atmosphere was nice and comfortable. Don't get the Thai Chicken Salad. It was a scoop of peanut butter surrounded by lettuce and pasta. Our server was MIA for most of our meal. I'd stop by for the mango gelato. Outdoor seating looked nice and they roast their own coffee so maybe come here for a cafe experience over restaurant.

Carlsbad has been a gastronomic wasteland. Yellowbrix is one of a few in recent years fighting the good fight. Atmosphere is airy (especially if you eat outside!) and the food better than expected. I had the onion soup: rich and most satisfying. The chicken cordon blue was done well, but could have used a tad more sauce. Remember, this is New Mexico, where the State Question is: Green or Red? Pepper creeps in unexpectedly, such as the olive oil dip for bread and, yes, the chicken cordon blue. Both delightful variations. The beer list is impressive. IPA fans should try the Albuquerque Marble Brewery's take on the ale. The penne pasta side was a second cousin to mac and cheese, but that's not really a criticism. Lotsa cheese. Service was attentive, although I was still savoring my soup when the entree arrived. Support good food; try out Yellowbrix. I did when visiting from California a year ago. I came back, and will again.

Their food is very inconsistent. One day it will be amazing, and then you order the same thing the next day and it will look completely different and taste absolutely horrible! Not to mention, I was just trying to make a to-go order over the phone and was on hold for 15 minutes! I then tried to call back for another 15 minutes, and just got the busy signal. That means their phone had been off the hook and could have potentially been on hold for 30 minutes or more! That's riduculous. It's obvious management needs to seriously figure their stuff out or they won't last much longer. I'm extremely sad to say this because it has so much great potential, but I'm absolutely through with this place!

  • John M.

Unfortunately, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. The service was extremely slow and unprofessional. The food was poorly executed, bland and arrived at the table a little above room temp. This pace has lots of potential but the food quality and cooking skills need drastic improvements.

  • Sam C.

Steak overcooked, chicken overcooked, pasta over cooked, bread overcooked, tea was good, they threw some hotdogs in the beans an renamed them charo beans... Service was mediocre and there is almost no light if you eat outside we had to use the flashlights on our phones to see the menu. I had steak tampequeno and the flavors were good it was just like jerky so they have the flavors right, they just need to take the food off before it is petrified. The girlfriend had Cajun chicken pasta and the pasta was just so mushy it was inedible and the chicken was crunchy and dry... Probably black but we couldn't see to tell...I don't send my food back due to fear of spit and boogers this place has potential but they just need some supervision and maybe an expediter we will probably give it one more shot before giving up on this place

Great food in an unexpected location. Lots of gelato to choose from. I want to give Yellowbrix more stars. I think that it stands out as a uniquely good restaurant in southeastern New Mexico. But it's very inconsistent in the food and professionalism of the waitstaff. The first time I went to Yellowbrix, I was really impressed. Good food, great bread and oil/balsamic vinegar dipping plate, great service. I raved about it to friends, so we went a few weeks later and were only embarrassed. Had to ask for the oil and vinegar, basic rolls, overdone food and and bungled dessert orders. My dinner guests were left disappointed and I can understand why! I'll give them another try, and hope to be impressed.

I was surprised by how much I liked this place. I read a few Yelp reviews and wasn't sure how it would be. The interior was like an upscale cafe--for evening, they dimmed the lights, and it was pleasant overall. The service was great, though it was iffy at first when we had a trainee who asked if we knew what we wanted to eat before we'd even had a chance to open our menus (literally 30 seconds after we arrived!). The actual server was excellent. I enjoyed a couple glasses of a red blend, had calamari for an appetizer, and got the chicken caesar as my entree. You could go here for a more simple dining experience like I did--after a day of hiking and still in casual clothes, or get gussied up and make it a nice night, though there was a TV playing sports in the back. All we ate was fairly good, but it was the overall atmosphere combined with the decent food that was a nice change of pace in Carlsbad, which has an industrial feel as a city. I live in Houston, which has remarkably good restaurants, so this 4 stars is relative to Carlsbad options overall.

Not coming back. Had the caprese salad and French onion soup. Hmmm $12.00 for 3 slices of a Roma tomato. The buffalo mozzarella and basil were nice portions and the balance vinegar was food. The soup was a joke. It was watered down with a soggy glob of dough for the crouton, then microwaved instead of baked to melt the cheese. Service was a joke. Had to ask for silverware as did most of the people sitting around us. The couple next to me still had not received their food by the time I left. This restaurant may want to invest in a new chef and training for its staff.

So the food is good, the service is alright, but this restaurant has to many split personalities and limited hours. Lunch is sandwich/salad fare. Tasty and enjoyable. The french dip is my favorite with a side salad. The Cuban is good but not authentic at all and the grilled cheese is boring. Dinner is high end food. The service isn't on par, but the wine and beer listings help make up for it. If I have to have slow service I can at least sip on a good glass of wine. The scallops are my favorite and everything is cooked to perfection. Their ice cream is a nice treat, but their baked goods are lacking. Chocolate is over priced and not any better than the grocery store. Excellent coffee and the Pecos Lemonade is AMAZING. They used to let you do take out, but now they stopped it. I understand why, but it still sucks because I don't always have an hour to blow trying to get a sandwich for lunch. They aren't young child friendly, but one that is old enough to sit still would be ok. It is really loud when they are full so it isn't great for an intimate date either.

Finding decent restaurants in Carlsbad has been a challenge (especially with vegetarian options), but someone suggested Yellow Brix, so we thought of giving it a shot. The service here was better than any other place in town! While the vegetarian options were limited, our server made the effort to add a special to the menu for my friend to be able to eat something other than the fettuccine alfredo. We were able to enjoy our meal and beverages without a long wait and finish in under 1.5 hours, which was a stark contrast to our other meals in town. Our food was pretty good, nothing extraordinary, but the ambiance and quality of service definitely made this place worth the visit. I would recommend this restaurant for at least one meal while staying in the area around the caverns.

Great interior decor. Too bad a restaurant is for eating at, not looking at. The wait times for food and/or service attention were really, really long. My wife and I saw an awful lot of staff hanging out and socializing more than checking on guests. And a young man wearing a black shirt and fedora, looking somewhat managerial, spent plenty of time with his cell phone in his hand. Between that and staff displaying "gauge" earrings, and it was pretty clear the professionalism was nowhere close to the upscale image first presented by the decor or menu. My wife and I got the asparagus appetizer. It was just asparagus. That's fine, I like asparagus. But it was nowhere near worth the price or the wait time. I love black pepper. LOVE it. So when there are so many whole black peppercorns in the French onion soup as to make it completely inedible to ME, there's something really, really wrong. It was terrible and so full of schmutz and goop that there was practically no broth. Do not order this under any circumstance. I ordered Chicken Florentine, which sounded wonderful from the menu description. Spinach linguine should be linguine made with spinach, green noodles, etc. Not just plain ol' linguine with a couple spinach leaves thrown in underneath. The whole affair wound up tasting like nothing more than stewed tomatoes that overpowered everything except maybe the garlic. The one saving grace to the entire meal was my wife's Steak Diane. It was wonderful. I mean truly amazing and the only thing we should have ordered the entire evening. She ordered it medium rare (which, let's face it, is the only way steak should ever be served) and it was perfectly cooked, seasoned deliciously, and even the sides were perfect for accompanying. Sadly, I've had steak diane before. I'm not saying this wasn't good- just that because I've had the dish before, this wasn't the hallelujah moment it could have been. And certainly not enough to save the evening from memories of horrible service, long waits, and truly terrible soup. This joint only gets two stars due to the steak (and truly beautiful interior decor). Based on service and the rest of the meal, it's strictly a one-star affair. And they still need to get rid of the TV.

Enjoyed dinner tonight. Our server Derek was great. My salad had delicious blackened chicken. My husband had a unique Mexican burger. Not on a bun. On a tortilla. Very yummy. Eric was the chef. Thanks guys. Added to our great vacation at the Caverns.

Went for lunch. Plenty of waitstaff but no expediter or manager. Ordered and waited. And waited. Thirty minutes later we were told the ticketing machine ran out of tape so the kitchen never got it and our order was just put in. The couple ordering after us left without their order. We waited another 15 minutes. We were offered a slice of pie for our troubles. Food was mediocre and not worth the wait. There were about a dozen tables while we were there: 1 left, another got 3 out of 3 of their drink orders wrong. I suspect this was a bad day, but it was our experience. The complimentary pie was bland, bland, bland. Overall, pretty disappointing.

Advance note: I originally wrote this review on Urbanspoon. Being a marketing guy myself, I understand the difficulty of getting people to provide you a review when they are happy. When unhappy, they tell and write it everywhere. So, I wanted to give these good people as much good press as possible. Having said that, here's my copied review from Urbanspoon. It's 100% the truth. Feel free to contact me if you have any question. So... we're from Houston. I opened up UrbanSpoon last night because we were in the mood to head out after a 10 hour drive and get a little bite to eat. I find the highest % liked place in town and it says "Kid friendly" and "Romantic" atmosphere and I was sold. We headed over. While the atmosphere was amazing and the food really tasty, it was getting to meet the owners (Dan and Barbara) and spending time chatting with them that really made the evening a magical and memorable part of our families first big road trip together. They gave us a tour of the place (Women's restroom is a must see; along with the wine cellar - WOW!) and were just all around wonderful people to meet. The wait staff was fantastic. I can't say enough good things about this place. We'll be headed over there for coffee shortly. THANKS Urbanspoon and all the rest of you who make this app wonderful by reviewing! Update: We DID head over for coffee and Oh My GAWD... great freaking coffee Dan. I ruined mine by putting flavor in it. I should have just drank it black. Extremely smooth. ZERO bitterness. Loved it. Wish I had you guys back in Houston. Fantastic.

In a town struggling in the culinary realm, Yellow Brix is an oasis for the taste buds. Reasonably priced for the quality of food received, their beer and wine selection makes places in bigger towns look shameful with their shoddy choices. Dessert is not to be skipped either. Thank you for giving me one positive memory of Carlsbad, NM.

For ambience I give it 4 stars. The rest was a Poorly mis-managed wait staff, food was late, not correct when it did arrive missing vital parts of the meal such as syrup and butter for pancakes. The soup was excellent but anything that had to be prepared was in shambles and the staff had no idea how to fix it. I believe if management was more hands on it would save this unique restaurant.

I LOVE THIS PLACE! When I found out I'd be making frequently trips to Carlsbad for work, I thought I would be in one of those towns where you're only options were Chilis or fast food. I was so lucky to stumble upon this place in my first visit. I have been here four times now and I haven't had a bad experience yet. They're food is fresh and delicious. The menu is impressive for a small place such as this. I love the spinach salad and the French dip sandwich. I have yet to come here for dinner, but I hope to have the opportunity soon so I can enjoy a nice glass of wine on the patio.

We came here as a second choice-and boy were we glad! After going to IHOP (next to our hotel) and being told they were "out of crepes" (after being given "crepe menus") we left and asked our hotel clerk where to go. She gave us a card with her name on it-saying she also worked here and said the food was "gourmet". The card gave us a 10 percent discount. Driving to the restaurant we laughed thinking "gourmet" food in Carlsbad would be "unique". Well, shame on us! It was a bitter cold evening and there were only 2 other couples in the restaurant. We sat next to a fire-delightful. I had a grilled salmon, creamy/cheesy pasta and asparagus. My husband had a tender pork chop, baked potato and squash medley. All was superior. Yes, it easily cost double than IHOP, but my grandpa used to say "you get what you pay for". They had tempting desserts in the case and hubby brought back a banana chocolate cake that he said was great. I was too full for dessert and just savored my excellent dinner. We met the owners-super nice people. Our server was new, but did a great job. From what we saw-I'd say this is your best bet for a good quality meal in Carlsbad.

Went to lunch on 11/8/12, this place must be running through the "chefs" and "waitstaff" like a freight train runs through Kansas. I have been here several times and I never see the same people twice. I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken, my lunch wagon running mate chose an avocado chicken wrap. These two items would seem pretty generic and regionally recognizeable for most restaurants. The Caesar was done in the 90's version of what chefs thought was a great plan, and the leaves of romaine were left whole. They didn't even have time to run a knife through them to rid them of their rusty oxidized ends. They weren't tossed in the dressing but blopped with what appeared to be a mayonnaise based bottled type of Caesar dressing. What was there was flavorless. The chicken add on was missing and the waitress apologetically retrieved a paltry dried up plank in a bowl to make up for the missing chicken. For a restaurant that started out calling itself a bakery, you would think they might try their hand at making croutons vs. opening a box of dried out chunks. Lame-o. Won't ever order that again. I felt totally disgusted and robbed of my lunch money until I saw my friend's Avocado Wrap. Dis-Gust-Ing!!! You would think if you cut open an avocado and saw a bruise you would carve it away. In this instance, the entire avocado should have been put in the trash. Avocados 101. Our waitress went missing (which seems to be the norm with the reviewers about this place) so my friend took her plate back to the kitchen. Their next effort was more realistic but then they forgot the salad on her plate. She wisely ditched her choice of the raspberry vinaigrette on the second go-round as the first serving was rancid smelling and nowhere near their original homemade dressing that we used to get. Our waitress seemed apologetic as she explained that another diner had also sent back her avocado chicken wrap earlier. Well.....? I told my friend she must have been served the other half of that avocado. We chuckled but it was no laughing matter as you never want to get between my friend and her avocados. My sweet Mama always said to be nice, look for the silver lining so here goes; I think they are in a cute building and I really love their choice of artwork but I wanted lunch not a museum tour. That's as nice as I can be about this place. We won't be going back anytime soon. Take your money and taste buds down the street to the Pecos River Cafe. Way better value, service and superb consistency. Yellow Brix needs to step up their game and soon!

The blue cheese napoleons were simply awesome. The chicken florentine was delicious. The steak, melt in your mouth good. For dessert the carrot cake, cheese cake and gelatoes were all good. Outside seating or inside you can't go wrong here!

Pretty good beer selection. I am from Texas so I tried a New Mexico beer (Monk's ale) per the waitresses suggestion - very good! I ordered the French Dip sandwich, which came with chopped roast beef rather than the normal deli style. It was fabulous! The best French dip I've had. I ordered the side salad, which was nothing to rave about. My grandmother ordered the Reuben, which she loves (minus the Russian sauce). My mother ordered the green chili cheeseburger with Parmesan fries - she cleared her plate. The gelato was a nice dessert to end with. I typically visit Carlsbad once a year, and I'll make it a point to eat at the Yellow Brix next time I'm here.

Steak was overcooked. Beer was warm, overpriced, and I had to ask for a glass to pour it in. Sweet potato fries were cold. Server was less than helpful. Didn't say her name or anything just, "do you know what you want?" The tomatoes on the caprese salad were just round tasteless cheap tomatoes- I would have thought they would be romas. It was all WAY overpriced. Patio was nice, but the band warmed up for an hour and a half while the outdoor music speakers were still on. Our groups order got completely screwed up with some of us not getting things we ordered at all. We had to walk inside to find the gelato flavors. When our checks finally came (after TWO HOURS) we were given no pens to sign with. Just when I thought they had hit bottom. They need to invest in training for their kitchen and wait staff.

The only reason I don't give this a 5 is because of the wait. The food and the service was excellent! ! We sat on the patio and still had great service. Our server, unfortunately i don't remember his name, was so nice! He treated our children with the same respect he gave us. The food was too die for! I had the feteccino Alfredo with salmon and it was the biggest piece of add on salmon i have ever seen! And cooked wonderfully! The French fries are wonderful! Just hands down a great place! Highly recommended!

We absolutely loved eating dinner at Yellow Brix in Carlsbad, NM. The steak & prime rib dinners were excellent. The accompaniments were also delicious. Our waitress was super friendly & helpful with suggestions & answering our questions. Great wine selections too! You need to try this place. Outdoor dining ambiance is really nice. Enjoy!

Had a jones for some fish tacos. Went to Yellow Brix and low and behold, this place has them.........with blue corn tortilla! Fish tacos were very tasty, along with the red zin I was sipping on. Great selection of craft beers, but, none from Firestone Walker. You haven't had really good craft beer until you've had FW's entire lineup. Verdict: I'm going again!

Great food, great service, and incredible staff. Abby and the manager did a great job with our large and rowdy crowd today. It was a lot of fun

Good food in a town filled with otherwise terrible food. Dining options are pretty limited in Carlsbad, NM. I had a really really good salmon dinner here. Good food, good service. Good to know there is at least one place to eat next time I am in Carlsbad.

We noticed this place when driving back and forth to Carlsbad Caverns. It looked cute, so we tried it out. The decor was a bit higher end than we expected in this small eastern New Mexico town, but then the prices seems to reflect the decor. I had the Cuban sandwich with the truffle fries. I really didn't expect much, in spite of the pricing. I was wrong. It was amazing, one of the reasons I like to try non-chain restaurants. My wife had the stuffed burrito, which again, didn't look like we expected, and she said it was very good. The only down side was the server was a bit too eager, pushing us to order, coming back again and again when we hadn't even looked at the menu. That rush really worked out for me, however, since I just jumped on the Cuban sandwich; I might have missed out if she wasn't so persistent.

Good spicy food! Quaint little place that reminded me of Santa Fe. I would like to go back in the evening to enjoy their outdoor dining with entertainment.

This was almost the only place open on Sunday night, our 1st night in Carlsbad, and I wasn't going to have dinner in IHOP, so we ate at Yellow Brix. Lots of locals. Service was very friendly, but she came over so fast that even when we asked for a few minutes, we didn't have enough time to peruse the entire menu. As a result, we never got a chance to order an appetizer or 2. The server screwed herself by trying to get our orders so quickly! I enjoyed a glass of wine and we each had an entree, and we were done! The food was good, but the service a bit over zealous!

For Carlsbad this is a nice venue. I am sad the Gelato is no longer there. However, the pork and green chili -- delish! Causal for lunch- best mimosas-- nice out door setting, Good selection of NM beers.
