High Cholesterol at Whataburger

Calorie intake is the main concern for people with high cholesterol while dining at a fast-food restaurant like Whataburger. Well, you can always try the Lighter & Smaller options from the menu to cut down your fat intake. Opting for grilled sandwich or burgers are preferred compared to double meat or triple meat cheesy burgers which contain high cholesterol.

Foods to Avoid at Whataburger for High Cholesterol

Cut down on your meat intake to control your high cholesterol. You must skip Double Meat Whataburger and Triple Meat Whataburger at all costs. Whatacatch Dinner may sound tempting but the famous fish sandwich is also full of calories and unhealthy fat. The Food was great!! Salsa SUPER hot....Loved it!!

Very friendly service. Green chile stew is better at Range (chicken there, pork here). But Abuelita is still good and is very generous with the pork. Chile relleno: stuffed with ?cheddar instead of the usual cheese. But it had the best crust and texture of any I had in ABQ. Chimichanga, beef enchilada, and chicken taco were good but not remarkable. Sopapillas were undercooked (floppy, not at all crispy), flavorless, and way too oily. I had to wipe mine of with a napkin before eating, and my fingers still came away very shiny. All in all, we thought that La Casita and The Range were better options nearby.

After staying for a week at the Hyatt Tamaya, we ventured out for dinner and ate at Abueltias. It is the real deal- it is your auntie's restaurant. I had the cheese enchiladas, flat Christmas ( red and green chile) and a chile relleno. The beans are fabulous as was everything else. Nice people, all locals eating there. A must when you are in the area!

Best recommendation for mexican food, thank you car gps. I had the shredded beef enchilada plate which was excellent!! Many times shredded beef in enchiladas is greasy but not these, it tasted like a roast that was slow cooked and shredded for the enchiladas.

Best chile rellenos I have had in new mexico so far! lived in the land of enchantment for 30 years.

While I"ve been to restaurants in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Las Cruces & Taos, I've never eaten in Bernallilo. Pulling into the restaurant, it was rather quiet; only one couple was dining (not a good sign!) Since it takes a lot more than that to discourage me, I went ahead and placed a 'to go' order. I also ordered a bohemia beer while I waited figuring that it would take awhile to receive my food. They served me chips & salsa and made me feel welcome. Before I had a chance to finish my beer, my food was bagged and ready to go. After opening up everything in my hotel room, I was pleasantly surprised. My calabacitas enchiladas with a fried egg on top was was flavorful and well prepared. The red sauce was simply outstanding. I'm not sure about the previous reviewer, but I didn't think that there was an issue with flour. My wife's stuffed sopapilla was equally outstanding. The sopapilla was light and fluffy and it was filled with shredded chicken, beans, cheese, lettuce, tomato and sour cream. She was delighted with the red sauce as well. It's too bad that we're leaving town tomorrow as I would have liked to have tried some of their other dishes. You won't go wrong if you try Abuelita's. Just remember that you won't be wowed by the interior decor.

A solid family-owned business that makes very good New Mexican food. I had a breakfast burrito (i forget the exact name) served on a plate with red sauce - and potatoes. Very good! And they're light on the salt. There were a lot of local people there two. It's been around for something 25 years. It's perhaps half a mile off I-25.

  • Judy S.

What a find! We stopped here on our way from Santa Fe. The red sauce was spicy & flavorful, the cheese enchiladas were outstanding & the sopapillas light & tasty! The modest restaurant is clean & simple, nothing fancy but the food is wonderful. My only regret is that I live 3 states away. Go out of your way to try this place if you like spicy authentic New Mexico fare.

This local Resturant is a must. The food is what you hope for when you visit New Mexico. I can't spell the names of the food so just trust me. Great local flavors.

While staying in Bernalillo, I went on a hunt for the best enchiladas with red sauce. There are three other highly rated restaurants on this street, and I was able to eat enchiladas at three of the four. Abuelita's stood out for me as having the best enchiladas. In particular, the red sauce was outstanding. It packed enough heat to wake up your taste buds, but not so much that it overpowered the food. By comparison, I found the enchiladas with red sauce at The Range to be a little on the dull side. I ordered the combo plate, without really knowing what came with it. To my delight, I got sopapillas with my enchiladas. Outstanding! The staff was very friendly and prompt with service. Abuelita's definitely caters to locals and there is no effort to cater to tourists. Plain tables, no booths, bland decor, dirt parking lot. Just the basics here. The day we ate here, the local fire department took up a table right next to us. If I had time, I would have come here for another meal.

Excellent food, friendly service, great prices and portions. This is the real thing, not a tourist trap. Mexican food, at its best. I would go back anytime. Free wifi is nice too.

Last place we went while we were in NM, and one of my favorites. The Sopapillas were melt in your mouth good! I had some breakfast dish with Green Chile and Guacamole and it was amazing. Another restaurant we'll be going back to next time we are in the area. The restaurant itself is fairly simple inside, but the food and service are great. Definitely worth a try!

  • Marina T.

We stopped here on our way back to Salt Lake City. don't let the outside appearance fool you. The server was friendly and the food great. The stuffed sopapilla was delicious. I would definetly go back again.

  • Leigh R.

Delicious! stopped here on our way home. We had the combination plate; one chicken enchilada and tamale smothered with green sauce. Came with a beef taco. I would definitely recommend stopping in! Oh and we got soppapillas . I love my Mexican food spicy and it is.... :-)

  • Beck J.

If you want great New mexican food, friendly and prompt staff, go to grandma's! (For those who don't know Abuelita = Grandma).

  • Kirsten R.

The whole beans were good, service was good. Corn tortillas on the enchiladas were tough, I could barely cut them. The green chili was ok. The sour cream was thick like Crisco with no flavor. Chicken enchiladas were rolled and didn't have any chicken on the edges. There was at least an inch of emptiness on either side of the tortilla. Corn tortillas are small so if 2" of it is empty there is not much left.

  • Ricardo S.

Been going there for years. Normally lunch, but also breakfast. Good food, service and prices. It is a long time local family operation.

  • Ken F.

Standard New Mexican fare. Nothing amazing but nothing wrong with it either. The enchiladas I had and the side of rice and beans were good but the filling was a little bland and missing some flavor. The restaurant itself is pretty simple but clean and not crowded. The staff and the owner (the abuelita) were very nice and attentive. Its the kind of place I would go to if I was in Bernalillo for something and wanted lunch or dinner but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

Great authentic closest you can get to homemade New Mexican food. Red or Green Chili that is the question? Chicharone burrito is my fravorite!!!

Abuelitas! Truly a treat! I got the tacopilla with carne adobada- delicious! The green chilli stew was very fresh and good- I loved the Zucchini that was in it as well - great job- I also had sopapillas with honey delicious

  • Mark C.

We tried Abuelita's about 8 years ago when we moved out to New Mexico, and it was pretty awful. I had never been back until tonight. What a difference! The place has been remodeled and looks clean and inviting inside, and the food is freshly prepared and very tasty. I had the Tacopilla with Christmas. The sopapilla was add to order and all the toppings were fresh. The chicken was shredded and had a great taste to it. I also had the Chile con Queso which was excellent. There is no doubt that this was made in house. As it cooled the Queso got a little clumpy like real cheese will do but the flavor was awesome. The green chile has a nice kick to it and the red has that beautiful smoky deep flavor that only NM chile has. I'll definitely be back.

  • John K.

My wife and I have been regulars for years. Best chile rellenos around. We've never been disappointed in the food or the service and we always recommend this place to friends and family.

    (5)
  • Kevin S.

I ate one of their signature dishes called the Tacopilla. It was amazing! This restaurant seems to be very popular with the locals and I would definitely stop here again. Great service too!

  • Laura M.

Huge disappointment. For as good as the reviews are, we were very underwhelmed. First off, the service was incredibly slow. Took ten minutes before we even saw our waitress and even when we did, she seemed disinterested. When we finally got our food, it was ok (enchiladas, chicken tacos and flautas). The main entrees were fine, but the beans and rice all came out lukewarm at best. However, I will give them 3 stars for their sopapillas with honey. Partially redeemed the meal. Go in with expectations low and you'll probably come out happy.

  • Ashley M.

After spending the day in the sun with the fam we needed some delicious grub that was kid friendly. It could have been kid friendlier but their food was wayyy worth it!! The tacopilla is the signature dish and it was so good! Their sopapillas are like a happy childhood memory wrapped in hugs.

  • J R.

I hadn't eaten here in years due to meh experiences with service/food in the past. Since I've completely lost any faith in The Range Cafe, I decided to give Abuelitas a try recently and was pleasantly surprised. Their tacopilla ingredients were fresh even though I ordered take out right before closing. I will be going back to try their chile rellenos and enchiladas.

This is the café to stop in between Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Amazing sopapillas, adovada, and combination dinners. All the chiles refried beans and even the ice tea is perfect.

    (4)
  • Dan S.

Simple, delicious New Mexican food in a decidedly casual environment. Sometimes slow service is offset by true warmth and, well, let me repeat: delicious. Super nice people and reasonable prices = total win.

Oh my goodness! I think everyone in our group loved the food. Amazing. Highly recommend this place.

This a must stop if your in Bernalillo.. There huevos rancheros was great and sopapillas were hot and made my meal perfect..All the food here looked realy good, cant wait to come back and try the tacopilla. As others have said this would be a perfect stop on your way up north to grab a bite.

If you happen to be travelling through Bernalillo, this is a pretty good place to grab lunch. I had some family members who had skipped breakfast on their way to Tamaya, and were consequently pretty hungry. So we popped in here because it was convenient, and seemed authentic. Very clean little place, and very local. Food came out very quickly, and the service was good even though some big tables came in shortly after we did. I had the enchiladas Abuelitas, and they were very good. The rest of my group really liked the sopapillas.

    (3)
  • Love D.

The enchiladas(cheese, shredded beef, chicken) were delicious with green and red chile. The green chile was HOT! Which is rare to find, since I like spicy/HOT, I enjoyed dining here. The sopapillas were a little too thick, brown & greasy. As an appetizer, the 3 scoops of guacamole on a bed of lettuce was tasty!

    (4)
  • Megan S.

Awesome find on our way to Taos, fast delivery and delicious! Portion sizes were good and all of the chili sauces were super flavorful.

    (5)
  • Christopher H.

The Chili Avodado was AMAZING!!! Tasty beans and rice, but the tacos were pedestrian. This is a must try place but stick with the slow simmered pork in either red or green chili sauce. The service was polite and quick.

  • John B.

Had a Navajo Taco and passed initial test because bread was hot and not greasy. The table was sticky and felt dirty. They forgot my chile and when they brought it out I must say as a native new Mexican I was a bit disappointed. Red: they add flour and lacked flavor. Green: better but still lacked any resemblance of heat. Beans were ok and portion was large. Price was fair. Bottom line it's not like momma makes. Sorry.

Driving through and wanted to find somewhere new for lunch. I ordered the Enchiladas Abuelitas with red chili. It was yummy. The service was friendly and prompt. A must try when you are in the neighborhood!

Stopped by for lunch on the way to Santa Fe. I had the chicken enchilada plate with green chile. Pretty good food.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
