The bent spoon has a wide variety of ice cream flavors but all of them are meaningless compared to the sweet corn old bay ice cream. It is rare that such a strange, ingenious mixture of flavors unites to create such a delicious hot day treat. Ignore the line, ignore the cute decor, and ignore the rest of the menu. You want sweet corn old bay flavored ice cream.

Yes, Yes Yes! Every time I visit my parents The Bent Spoon is a pit-stop for me. Always fresh, always unique. A must for anyone visiting Palmer Square. Lavender dark chocolate anyone?

The best ice cream I have ever had! I actually mean that sentence, and oh how I miss this place now that I do not live in Princeton. This small shop is operated by a super friendly husband and wife team that were previously at Small World Coffee. Their ice cream is a unique mix between true ice cream and gelato, smooth, creamy, organic, and in the most incredible flavors. The creme fraiche along with a nice fruit flavor is a favorite. Rosemary, cardamom/ginger, lavender, marscapone are among my favorites. The only thing I didn't like in 3 years was tomato. They do such a good job of capturing local, fresh produce in ice cream. I have never liked store-bought peach ice cream, for example. It always tastes so artificial. But I tried the Bent Spoon version and loved it. In any case, my friends on the west coast have tired of me saying about Ici and Bi-Rite, and the other local stalwarts--"it's good, but it's not Bent Spoon."

The best, freshest, most unique ic and sorbet I've had - ever! As a former employee, I might be a bit biased, but it's worth it! If you have sticker shock, remember local, organic, fresh, unique, artisan, yum! Each ice cream store in pton has it's own crowd and "flavor," but the b spoon is not one to be missed. If you bring your own cup they give you a discount for being green! Bent spoon: unique organic local frozen treats, baked goods, French press Small World coffee and loose leaf tea! Halo pub: locally-made classic favorites and inexpensive coffee and tea beverages Thomas sweet: creamy homemade ice cream with cool candy blend-ins and soft serve yogurt

The flavors are very different, and certainly there were very many. The wait staff was helpful in sampling. But I'll have to say it was only OK. I ended up getting some coconut and another unmemorable flavor. None of it was flavorful or fresh -- just very mediocre. The portions are rather small for the price. It's a hyped up local joint, but I don't think I'll be back. Do yourself a favor and walk down the street to Halo Pub.

There is something for everyone here! I love their vanilla cupcake with chocolate frosting and the mango sorbet complements perfectly with the dark chocolate sorbet or the mascarpone ice cream! Also, a few years ago, I had the best ice cream here...Bourbon sea salt caramel...If you're here and you see them offering it that day, get some and then let me know they have it!

    (5)
  • Rachel S.

Absolutely fantastic. I had the bourbon vanilla salted caramel ice cream with the dark chocolate ice cream which was absolutely divine. The chocolate ice cream had the teeny-ist bit of grit to it, but it wasn't a big deal and both were super creamy. If I didn't live almost 45 minutes away, we'd be going all of the time. I also tried the coconut, and I can't tell you how much I just wanted to roll around in it. Normally some coconut things taste way too much like suntan lotion, but this was so fresh and refreshing. so summery too.

Some of the best ice cream I've ever had I can definitely say I've had at the Bent Spoon. My husband and I took a day trip to Princeton this past weekend and the weather was just beautiful. We've heard a lot of good things about the Bent Spoon and we both love ice cream so we decided to stop in. Due to the beautiful weather, there was already a line out the door. Of course this is also due to the fact that the inside of this place is pretty tiny, but the small wait was worth it. I like the fact that the ingredients are high quality and the flavors are unique and always changing. When we were there, they had turkish coffee, lavender marscapone, cashew, dark chocolate and creme fraiche to name a few. I found it really difficult to decide on what I wanted, but I noticed an espresso shake on the menu and that seemed to call my name. The guy at the counter asked me what flavor I wanted in the espresso shake and I said, hmm that's a good question, what would you recommend? He suggested chocolate, and that was definitely a good call. The shake was so good. Just the right consistency (not too thick/not too thin) and flavor with the chocolate being the main flavor and the espresso accenting it nicely. My husband got a blood orange sorbet and wow, that was on point. Very prominent blood orange flavor and just all around great quality. Yes, the prices are a bit higher than your regular ice cream shop, but this isn't your regular ice cream shop. I suggest that if you are in the area and you like ice cream or sorbet, you'd be doing yourself a disservice if you did not stop in at the Bent Spoon. Give it a try I'm sure you won't be disappointed!

Creamy, flavorful, delicious- some of the best ice cream I've had EVER. Their cupcakes are great too

This is the best ice cream in Princeton (a town rich with ice cream shops). The local ingredients and changing menu means even locals never tire of the place. Yes, it's spendier than most, but I never find myself wanting for more. The flavor is packed in to the smooth ice cream. Paying for one scoop allows you two different flavors. (I can't remember exactly, but it's something like $3 for this.) Make sure to have cash with you. You can sample any flavor you wish and even when the line's long, the workers don't really rush you. It can get tiresome to wait, but the reward is worth it. Plan to just relax and enjoy chatting in line. I like experimental eating, so I highly recommend their unusual ice cream flavors: I've tried Thai Basil and Marscapone, among others. I've heard that even their avocado is good! Just trust them: the Bent Spoon knows what it's doing, weird or not! In the winter, their hot chocolate is a European-style drinking chocolate. It's rich enough, you really only need one a season. I can't say enough about their dense, moist chocolate cupcakes, too. They're fabulous if you like a heavily frosted cupcake. And I do!

  • D P.

WOW! I love their ice cream flavors! Absolutely amazing ... I wish I can reproduce some of these at home. I will go back every single time I am in the area.

  • Khalid N.

Anytime I am in the area I still find an excuse to hit up the bent spoon and each time I venture into new flavors and I still get blown away. Today I might have tried the best flavor they have - Chocolate Habenero. It had the richness of chocolate, lightly flavored with habanero powder which gives a subtle kick and was spiced with cinnamon which perfectly complemented the other flavors. The lemon mint also, knocks my socks off, as it is very fresh and perfectly cleans the palate, leaving a very refreshing after taste. If you are in the area and have not tried out the bent spoon you are missing something.

  • Rina R.

This place is awesome. They have wonderful and innovative flavors, and their service is always prompt despite long lines. It's worth waiting ten or so minutes. The ice cream is amazing, and they always have new flavors to try. Be warned, the prices are high. Three dollars for less than a cup of ice cream. I like smaller sizes, but their prices are a bit steep. It's certainly worth the visit though.

  • Jett T.

Imagine someone pouring melted, high quality, dark chocolate down your mouth...that's exactly how their Dark Chocolate Sorbet tastes! The Vanilla Bourbon is to die for! The flavors are endless at this place and unimaginable. The price is not cheap but for the quality of ice cream you get, it's definitely worth it. Have I mentioned the cupcakes??? OMG! Grab a scoop & get yourself a mini cupcake to go with it. Not sure about the flavors? Just ask for a sample. This is a great place for date nights! ENJOY

  • Marlene T.

If I could, I would give The Bent Spoon 6 stars! Ice Cream - Mouthwatering! The flavors are fantastic. Vanilla Bean is my favorite. Just WOW! I always get vanilla along with 2 new flavors each time. Shop - As cute as it gets! Tiny, with few seats. Line always goes fast. Grab a seat on a bench outside & enjoy! :) Service - The nicest / friendliest / helpful people I ever came across. Location - Princeton. Enough said. Cute shops, nice area. I love to just grab some ice cream and walk around town & the Princeton U. campus.

  • Joe B.

Not they need another positive review - but let me tell you, this place is well worth it. The artisan small-batch ice cream creations are outstanding. Their flavors are constantly changing with new and seasonal flavors. Well worth the trip to Palmer Square and the wait in line (even in winter!). My favorite is flavor is "Pistachio " - seemingly boring flavor compared to some their outlandish, creative concoctions but their Pistachio is unlike any other I have ever had. It's a divine sweet & salty Pistachio mix. A must try.

  • Lisa P.

This little place lives up to the hype. Creative flavors and high quality. The coconut was sensational. The peanut butter chocolate cookies alone are worth the trip. A must if you are near the area.

    (5)
  • Rupa D.

Believe the hype - the bent spoon is incredible. By far the best ice cream I've ever had in Jersey. The only place I've been to that compares to it is Toscanini's in Boston. I love their sweet corn ice cream in the summer & the prune armagnac I had this winter was simply out of this world. I make a point to go here every time I'm in Princeton and I've never been disappointed.

A tiny bit of ice cream for a hefty fee. Go once for the experience but if you just want good ice cream, rather than 'interesting' ice cream and an experience, go to Halo

  • Jason H.

Vanilla with sea salt caramel is my new favorite. The best part was standing at the counter trying all the amazing flavors.

  • Greg Y.

I love this place. The scoopers are super nice and helpful. Very generous about the sampling in particular; one occasion I ended up with 8 sampling spoons and was not embarassed whatsoever :) Blueberry mascarpone may sound unconventional, but it changed my life. It's a bit rich for some, but it changed my life. I've tried many times to replicate it myself, but to no avail. Only real problem is that there's practically no space. These guys really need to expand - not like there's any room left in Princeton to do so, sadly...

After having a fatty meal from Hoagie Haven and a scoop of ice cream from Halo Pub in hand, I took a walk around the Princeton area to help work off what I had just ate. Low and behold I walk by The Bent Spoon. I read about the 3 ice cream hot spots and since I already hit up 2, I might as well hit up the last one! I was feeling sick but was determined to get something here. The lady behind the counter was very friendly and was able to help me select the flavors of ice cream (or sorbet or gelato?). I ended up with coconut and mango. It's definitely pricey but for ingredients, you get what you pay for. The coconut was unlike any coconut flavored ice cream I've ever had. It was velvety, sweet, rich yet light for coconut. Paired with the sweet and tart mango it was delightful and refreshing. A nice way to end my fatty-filled night.

Fresh and delicious artisanal ice cream, hot cocoa, and pastries. The Bent Spoon makes small batches of homemade goodies made with local and often innovative ingredients (featuring vibrant flavors such as those derived from heirloom tomatoes, blood oranges, lavender, and whatever else is in season). This little shop is one of my favorite places for sweets in the country (OK, maybe that's not saying much, as I only spend time in Northern California and the northeast) and it stacks up nicely the best pastry, ice cream, and cocoa shops in NYC. The thick European-style hot chocolate won't scald your tongue like Jacque Torres' and really hits the spot on chilly days (it is, however, too rich for me to finish in one sitting) -- the homemade marshmallows offer a nice touch, too. To top it off, the Bent Spoon exudes earnest and refreshing Jersey pride.

When you're not being bashed over the head by provenance (the young female employees looked as exhausted by having to memorize it as we were having to listen to it), the Bent Spoon embodies the charm that accompanies good scooperies. They offer what seemed like unlimited samples, as evidenced by the freeloading cutters who treated themselves not only to our spot in line but also to 12 or so flavors before choosing 2 scoops of 1. The tables are jampacked with the same kind of clientele, folks lingering far past their welcome jabbering on their iPhone and spreading their belongings across the 'cozy' space. Regardless... The WYSIWYG kitchen crafts some pretty innovative flavors, like the mascarpone mostarda (not subtle enough), the honey sage (no character whatsoever), chocolate rosemary (an unexpected marriage that should end in divorce as fast as the Kardashian fiasco), & the brown sugar clove (2 of my favorite flavors poorly combined) that I sampled. We each ended up with a small (2 scoops & thus 2 flavors permitted): one with roasted pumpkin mascarpone (tasty) & apple cider (meh), the other with milk chocolate hazelnut (forgettable like the Penn Station 'gelato' flavor of the same name) & ricotta pistachio (much nuttier than it was creamy, but not awful). Given the price & everything else above, I'll stick to the other ice cream joints for next year's visit to the area.

Even if the line is out the door, the staff always manages to get everyone in and out quickly without being pushy. They will let you sample every flavor you need to without being bothered, and you most likely will need to try certain flavors, because some of them are INSANE! I had the mint ice cream here last month and it actually tasted like the plant, as if I was eating mint itself straight from a garden. I'm sure that just means its made with real fresh ingredients (most are), but it just was such a surprise for me. They have had some pretty odd flavors (asparagus?) And the flavors are constantly changing. I really recommend this ice cream place if you're feeling adventurous.

  • Christopher S.

These guys have a sweet basil recipe that is the ice cream equivalent of crack... I had this probably a year ago and I'm still raving about it. I literally couldn't stop eating it and it became a driving hazard when was on my way home [luckily I only had a few bites left to finish :) ] I also have had the ginger flavored one and it was fantastic, little pieces of ginger were inside, it made me super happy. A friend of mine who still lives in the area mentions how they have some beer flavored ones... I really wish I could try them. If I ever make it back up to Princeton... I'll be dropping by for a visit.

  • Nadia B.

3.75 for two scoop small-- whatever, it's Princeton-- I'll get over it. and I DID (rather quickly, after my first bite of lavender marscapone and dark chocolate sorbet). I LOVED the lavender taste in ice cream and wont go FREQUENTLY because things get heavy on the "curves" I'm trying to preserve, and the wallet I'm trying to save. But if you are in downtown princeton for a dinner, or in surrounding towns, make the trek, go to Bent Spoon and walk around Palmer square, you wont feel cheated!!

  • Hanne V.

I would now give six stars, if only I could. Any place where they are still peeling peaches by hand at 9pm on a Sunday evening deserves six stars! I still think that the (italian style) ice cream is not that super, but the sorbets - oh my god - I cannot possibly imagine that sorbet could get any better than this! The coconut sorbet, the melon, the mango...! I really don't know how you can make sorbet that is soooo flavorful an tasty! One small spoonful of this delicious stuff and it really seems like you are eating mango, melons or coconut!

Probably the best ice cream I've ever had.

We went here for some gelato. Service was very friendly. Got to try a few samples. Gelato was ok but expensive. 2 small scoops for $5.

  • Lucy W.

Their ice cream is sweet and creamy with lots of different creative flavors. Their lavender mascarpone is comparable to the one I've had at BiRite in San Francisco. I love their basil flavors too. The lines might be long, but they move fast. Their every changing menu of flavors keeps things interesting and keeps me coming back. If you find yourself in Princeton for some reason, this place is definitely worth a visit.

  • Diana A.

Fresh, delicious, sweet cuteness! Dark chocolate + coconut lime = amazing. A small cup of ice cream gets you two different flavors. It may look tiny, but this stuff's so rich that you won't be disappointed. The mini spoons rule. Speaking of mini spoons, don't be shy about asking to sample anything you want! In fact, it's encouraged! Flavors change frequently, so there's always something new to try. Olive Oil ice cream, anyone? It's amazing what these friendly folks can do. And they've got cupcakes also!! I must try those when I return. Expect the line to be out the door. Not much room inside, but plenty of benches around outside while you savor and enjoy your treat(s). CASH ONLY.

  • Sophie C.

The blood orange gelato is delicious! I was not a fan of all of their flavors but I definitely give them props for being so creative and original. The employees are awesome. They were very friendly, attentive, and approachable. We got a chocolate cinnamon expresso shake that you can see in the video below. The hit of cinnamon was so strong, but I like cinnamon so it works for me!

  • Elisabeth C.

This place needs to get over itself. The line of entitled yuppies (I could be described as such myself) was giving off a terrible anxious vibe as I waited. The door opens toward the inside and that was a logistic problem to get in and out with a large line of people. The flavors all sound awesome, but you could be disappointed so taste first. I tasted the dark chocolate rosemary and it was truly awful. Disgusting. The young man behind the counter gave me a taste of lemon sorbet thankfully because that stuff was so gross. Husband got the excellent combo of vanilla sea salt caramel and lemon basil and I got a much less impressive coffee cinnamon and dark chocolate. The coffee cinnamon tasted like coffee grounds and the chocolate tasted heavy and gritty. Both were not as smooth and balanced as I would have liked. It is a few days later and I have the rank taste of chocolate rosemary on my palatte still. it was so gross!!!!!

  • Tom L.

just for customer service i would give 5 stars. as we picked out our flavors, the employee was very engaging in conversation and gave us samples without us even asking, just to make sure we would like the flavors before we bought any. even with a very busy store, they make sure you have a great experience we got vanilla lavender, jersey peach sorbet, choc hazelnut and marscapone. the basil we tried was also very good the prices are reasonable. not any more expensive than any other ice cream store. definitely check it out!

Love this place! Their sorbets are awesome! My fave, however, is the sour cream ice cream. Sounds weird, but is fab!

Bent Spoon is awesome! They buy most of their ingredients locally and the staffs there are super nice. But sadly, I'm lactose intolerant so I didn't have a chance to try their ice-cream. Their cookies are out of this world! I NEED THAT COOKIE RECIPE!

  • Michael K.

This place always entices me with it's siren song of exotic ice cream and sorbet flavors whenever I am near. Today was unseasonably warm, and after a 40-mile bike ride down to Princeton, I hit Bent Spoon in a Mediterranean kind-of mood, where I sampled the heady Turkish coffee ice cream, and the tangy Greek yogurt ice cream with candied walnuts, which was fabulous. I pedaled away, holding the cup in one hand, and the handlebar in the other, shoving the ice cream into my face. I momentarily lost my balance, and the tiny cup slipped from my fingers. Horrified, I juggled it in slow motion, but it fell to the ground, landing upside down in the street. I abruptly dismounted, held up my arms to stop traffic, picked it up, flicked a few black particles off the ice cream with my fingernail, and resumed eating it. No way was I going to waste that.

  • Jeffrey J.

Their ice cream and sorbets are AMAZING. Nothing better than freshly spun ice cream and sorbet. They have your standard parlor style flavors as well as the gourmet, epicurean flavors that the foodies seek out as well. I love tasting each and every flavor when I have a craving for a frozen treat. They are clearly the best ice cream shop hands down in Princeton. My only negative comment is the portions vs. price. They are very expensive but that's the price you pay when you are buying a high quality product. Oh and they sell baked goods as well. Their cupcakes are TO DIE FOR!!!! Their cake is so moist and their buttercream is heavenly - smooth and rich, which is the way it should be, not overly sweet and overpowering with sugar. I give this place 5 stars!

    (5)
  • Lauren H.

Awesomely creative gelato flavors that change regularly. Pricier than the run-of-the-mill ice cream shops in town, but totally worth the extra buck or two. Gotta say I like this better than a lot of the gelato I had in Italy.

    (5)
  • Lauren M.

If you like ice cream, then you'll LOVE the bent spoon. One of the many great local spots in Princeton. Princeton prides itself on its local businesses and farms and the bent spoon brings them both together. They make great use of locally sourced ingredients to make delicious ice cream. Whether it's summer or winter, it's a great time for some bent spoon treats! Both picking out your treat make sure to take advantage of the tasting spoons! Mango and coconut sorbet is a down right winner!

    (5)
  • Roberto B.

If there was a 6th, 7th or 8th star available, bent spoon would get it!! Those who complain that the portion is small and the price is high, please go to Thomas Sweet or Halo Pub so the rest of us don't have to wait so long to enjoy our local favorite. What Elements is to fine dining, bent spoon is to artisan ice cream, and that's a very good thing.

0 stars. Over rated, a rip off, ordinary ice cream. You can get better quality ice cream and tastier and cheaper at a supermarket. A waste of time and money.

    (1)
  • Jenny H.

This place has inventive ice cream flavors and is pretty good, although not the best I've had. I thought the texture of the ice cream was too syrupy for me and a little too sweet. I also had their chocolate chip cookie and their oatmeal raisin, both were decent.

  • Guichi B.

I drove all the way from the DC area to try this ice cream that I did not have a chance to tried 6 years ago and let me tell you it was amazing. Worth the drive and after my wife gave me hard time about this 3.5 hour trip she was extremely happy as well.

Went on Yelp to find a gourmet ice cream near my home that is how I discovered the fabulous Bent Spoon. Very small but the sorbet has big taste. The staff was very polite. Highly recommend.

  • Lucy C.

Loved The Bent Spoon. I had the blueberry mango sorbet, blood apricot sorbet, and blueberry lavender ice cream. They were all really good, especially the blueberry mango. I should've gotten all 3 scoops of that flavor! 2-scoop smalls are $4, 3-scoop mediums are $4.75, and larges are $5. The ice cream flavors taste especially good when paired with the baked goods. The lemon sugar cookie was good. The place is really small and old, but I'd recommend it to anyone.

this was one of our only must-visit spots on a recent day trip to princeton, and man it lived up to our expectations. this was some of the best ice cream we have ever had. the unique flavors were phenomenal, but not overwhelming. we enjoyed the elderberry and fennel (no taste fennel in there though), sweet basil, and ricotta. SO good

  • Igor A.

Love ice cream in this place! Flavors are always changing, but the taste is consistently great! One of the best places to have an ice cream. In the festive pre christmas period nearby square is also amazingly decorated, which was a nice bonus to overall impression!

THE best ice cream on the East Coast. Amazing flavors, and even better customer service. I LOVE YOU BENT SPOON!

  • Jae C.

I don't know why there are so many ice cream shops around Princeton, but this one takes the cake. Each flavor is so rich and fresh. Their popular flavors are dark choco / vanilla / salted caramel. However, the pistachio really came through for me. There are whole roasted pistachios all over and the richness of the ice cream reminded me of Bi-Rite out in San Fran. I can't comment on the sorbets but they looked good too. I'm not normally a sweets guy but I wanted more ice cream even after my hefty portion.

    (5)
  • Anthony N.

nice shop ice cream shop, I would say the best in Princeton. Has a lot of interesting flavors you cannot get anywhere else. I've been here several times and all desserts I've tried here are good. Basically you cannot go wrong with anything here. Overall great place, one of the best.

    (4)
  • David S.

It's been said over and over again, but I'll add my voice -- this place is amazing. They change up their flavors a lot. My favorites are double dark chocolate, sea salt caramel, and anything with bourbon. Their hot chocolate is a spectacular sludge. Oh, and if you're lactose intolerant, this is still a great place for you. There are many sorbet options and their chocolate sorbet is "creamier" than any other sorbet ever. It's magical.

  • Joanna K.

So good. The hidden surprise here are the cupcakes - perfection.

  • Annamarie T.

Chocolate habenero, olive oil, strawberry mascarpone ice cream, oh my what a variety. If you are looking for traditional flavors this place is not for you, but if you are looking for a gourmet ice cream experience this is the spot for you After passing by here a couple of times and seeing a line out the door, I was left wondering what was so great about this place. After taking a look in and giving it a try I was not disappointed. It is a cute little ice cream shop with such a variety that I did not even think possible. The ice cream was of great quality and the milkshake were really good too!

  • Sid W.

I have no words to describe the amazingness of this little place! My top favorite flavors so far are the Indian Alphonso mangoes, Turkish Coffee & Honeydew melon; but they surprise me with new flavors with every visit :)

  • Laura S.

One of my favorite places to get a treat. Amazing ice cream (gelato?) and sorbets. Lots of unique flavors like lemon basil, corn, raspberry marscapone, etc., plus standard flavors. Little and big cupcakes too. CASH ONLY.

  • Anya S.

Its not the best ice cream I've had. Its also not the best ice cream in Princeton. Its a solid place, featuring several very unique flavors. I liked the mango and peach sorbets, however their basic chocolate was quite disappointing. Overall, I tried at least 10 different flavors, but I did not want to go back for any of them. It is also pricey, and they do not have ice cream cups, so they give you simple drink plastic cups, which is not the best for eating ice cream. Overall, its not bad, but there are better choices.

If you ever want to lay your eyes on something that is super adorable, you should just walk into this place. I smile just thinking about it. What an amazing philosophy with which to start a business! I love it, truly I do -- local produce turned into Italian style gelato that is as good as they come, even if they come out of the finest gelato shoppe in Italy. And what creativity!!! Basil ice cream? So good. Bourbon Vanilla seasalt caramel? How do they get it to freeze using that much bourbon??? Impressive, Gabrielle Carbone. Most impressive. I've got their number. This place opened up about five or six years ago right down the street from Halo Pub, which I also love. Their basic thing is, they use GOOD ingredients. Only the best at the spoon. The finest chocolate, the best butter, and more than a few tricks up their sleeves when it comes to baking and confection making. People are addicted to their cupcakes, but I've eaten more than I care to admit, and now I'm into the cookies and brownies. The only problem that I have sometimes is that their ice cream is SO rich that I can only savor and enjoy a very small bit. What I usually do is get a sample, and then a baked good. You can sample any flavor in the store, no questions asked, more than once, multiple flavors, multiple times, and not buy anything. It's kind of a dick move, but you can do it. It's their policy. If you need a place to go for dessert after your meal in Princeton, (and they don't already have bent spoon ice cream on their menu) this is your place. Little park across the way where you can sit and enjoy your food and your company, and the strangely stiff nightlife in Princeton.

The best ice cream. Forget the ice creams you get at supermarkets this is the place to be if you want ice cream. Ideal for dates or coming with friends. I come here every time I come to Princeton

  • Matt B.

Very unique and delicious ice cream. I definitely understood why the line was so long to get into the place once I tried the ice cream. The mango tasted like I was biting into a fresh ripe mango. If you're in the area you need to give it a try.

  • Meredith C.

Very good gelato. Not the best I've had (within the US, that honor goes to Gelato Fiasco in Brunswick, Maine, of all places), but it was a welcome treat in Princeton (because honestly, most of the food I had there wasn't very memorable). It's a small selection, and servings are pretty small. But the flavors are inventive, and it's clearly made with very fresh ingredients. Definitely worth a trip when in Princeton.

Great sorbet! I'm a big fan of their blood orange flavor.

Just the best all around. Great diversity and assortment of flavors for the ice cream. They have a killer chocolate sorbet. The cupcakes are righteous themselves. It's heaven on earth. The price is on the high end, but the quality of ingredients makes up for it, as well as the final product. Bent spoon is a great place to splurge on dessert. It's also quaint and shit. And there is a mirror you can check yourself out from for when you're waiting in line.

There is a massive debate in Princeton between the Bent Spooners and the Halo Pubers about who has the better ice cream. Clearly, I am the former. Bent Spoon is excitingly experimentative with flavors, uses extremely fresh ingredients, and is a locavore nirvana. Thery are extremely involved with local farms and businesses, and many nearby restaurants have Bent Spoon on their dessert lists. Some of the more avant-garde flavor selections that I have seen are Cardamom Ginger, Olive Oil, and Lavender Mascarpone. My personal favorite is Mascarpone gelato paired with Raspberry sorbet. The Mascarpone is incredible...you can make out the subtle texture of the cheese as the mild flavor shines through. Any and all of the sorbets taste like real fruit and have bits of seeds and skins to confirm the fruity flavors are of natural derivation. The staff are incredibly friendly, and the owners even more so. You can sample every single flavor without being enthralled by judgement. Bent Spoon has gone beyond ordinary frozen delights and has made them extraordinary.

I've been to Princeton tons of times, but it was always in November and December for the debate tournaments that are held on t he Princeton campus. When I finally discovered The Bent Spoon, it was when my gf and I took a drive down in March 2010. We found The Bent Spoon towards the end of the day and each got our own large cup of ice cream. I don't remember what flavors we got, other than blood orange. Everything was delicious, but the blood orange especially stood out. We each went back for seconds of just blood orange. Last fall, I was driving down to Philadelphia for the day and stopped in Princeton on my way. It was 10:30am and The Bent Spoon opened at 11, so I continued on my way and stopped in on my way back home. I 'd been taking pictures in Philly and had my Canon 5D with me. By chance, the guy behind the counter was also a photographer and we started talking. They had no blood orange in the display, but had it in the back, so he went and got me some. He also let me sample every single flavor they had and asked if I wanted seconds. Not bad at all. I really like how they don't try and do the whole Italian gelato thing. I've had so much gelato in Italy, not all of which is good, but I've never had good gelato here in the USA, anywhere. The Bent Spoon remains unique and inventive.

High quality product. Extremely helpful and knowledgable staff. Prompt service. I love this place! Go here and check out the amazing flavors of traditional ice cream. You won't regret it!

Mmm homemade new jersey ice cream. Multiple sorbet flavors available, great for hot days. And they serve cupcakes too!

The ice cream at this place is truly phenomenal. Whoever makes the flavors should be proud, because they've attained the perfect balance of taste and texture. The flavors are recognizable and strong without being overwhelming, and the texture smooth and creamy. I wish I lived closer so I could keep coming back in an attempt to learn their secrets!

Really great service and frozen treats. I especially like anything chocolate because I am an animal.....when it comes to sweet things. If I dropped it on the bathroom floor I would still eat it.

Delicious ice cream and cupcakes. My favorite combination is the Lavender Marscarpone and Dark Chocolate Sorbet (incredible!), but other interesting and tasty flavors abound, such as Honey and Dark Chocolate Rosemary. I love this place so much, I was almost late to a work meeting because I swung by to see if I could get Bent Spoon for breakfast (couldn't as they don't open til 11 on the weekdays). Get a frequent buyer card to work towards getting a free cupcake, ice cream or beverage after 10 purchases.

Generally speaking, I am neither a fan of dessert or ice cream. But I love love love the bent spoon. It is the perfect little place to meet your girlfriends for a treat, take your grandchildren or children for an ice cream, or grab dessert while strolling Princeton with your husband. My favorites are the blueberry ice cream! Organic raspberry sorbet served in a glass with club soda! Salted Caramel brownie bites! Ask for a taste before you order your ice cream or sorbet so that you know what favors are your faves! They also make sorbet cakes!!! How great is that for a birthday cake?

  • Elizabeth P.

I got the sweet basil and the blueberry mascarpone. Both were excellent, but I'm more likely to walk the block and a half to Halo Pub, where you won't have to wait as long in line, you'll have more choices in flavor (although, admittedly, nothing as adventurous as sweet basil), it will be less expensive (although, admittedly, Halo Pub's $2 scoop is just a large scoop, while even the smallest portion at the Bent Spoon is a veritable mountain of ice cream), and you'll even have a place to sit down.

Best gelato outside of Europe! You don't have to go NYC, Boston or a major city to find this. Each and every flavor is done on the premises and they go fast. Unlike most gelato places that has it sitting around, Bent Spoon never has anything old collecting frost. This is the kind of place that's worth driving 100 miles to get real gelato.

A Midsummer Afternoon's tale - by Maya (18 mths., f, labrador) I wagged my tail excitedly as I waited for this friend of my "Daddee" and "Mommee". I think I will like him. He is fond of food. Yippeee! He travels just to try new kinds of dessert. Yaay. (Wag, Wag). Huh? What's this? Is Daddee making fun of him? "So, we will drive all the way to Princeton just to try some ice cream?" Mommee replies "Oh, you know Atif. He lives for dessert. This place is all the rage" "Even more than his favorite haunt, Capogiro?" "I have a sneaking suspicion he will disprove that today! Ah, there he is" I see him walk from the train platform and greet my parents. Oh! My nose is all wet! How, will I make a good impression? Can't even jump all over him in the car. (Wag, Wag). Oh, goody... He likes dogs. I love how he doesn't goo gaa over me as if I were a kid. I am now 18, after all. Woof... I mean, Helloo? Daddee asks him, "So, how did you agree to only one ice cream stop? I thought our itinerary would be ice cream, movie, dinner, ice cream?" Atif: "Well, I did some research and then some math. Assuming there are 12 daily flavors (of 400 odd) available, then I can sample three, order 4 different ones for a large cup, and then try the 2-3 flavors each that you will be having. Based on that scenario, we're good with only one stop." Laughter in the car. I like the way he thinks. I also like Math put to good use. Wag, wag. Daddee: And did you find out why they are called "Bent Spoon" Atif: Yes, apparently based on how the characters in the movie, The Matrix, could bend spoons with their minds! Pretty cool, huh? It IS Princeton, after all. We drive for over half an hour and then stop. "Here we are", Daddee says. Looks at me resist the urge to get to know the parking meter a bit better. "Come, Maya. Let's go for a run in the park". Daddee takes me for a run as Mommee and Atif go get the ice cream. I can see there is a long line inside. They come out after 15 minutes. I look at all the ice cream they are carrying. Oh, goody! It's so hot outside. I look at Mommee and hang my tongue out for effect. Atif asks Mommee: "So, what did you order?" Mommee: "Two scoops of Blood Orange Sorbet" Atif: "Why, didn't you like any other flavors?" Mommee: "I tried all the sorbets, but this is the only one I liked" Atif asks Daddee: "And, what was your delivery order?" Daddee: "Only gelato - dark chocolate and cookies and cream" Atif: "Your verdict?" Daddee: "I like the chocolate. Can't say much for cookies and cream" All turn to examine Atif's selection. He's got four flavors. "I too got a scoop of Sicilian Blood Orange Sorbet. Which is excellent. And three different gelatos: Plantains, dark chocolate pecan with Bourbon, and Garam Masaala." Mommee tries the gelatos. "Hmmm, strong taste of Bourbon, the version with Plantains is interesting and dense, while Garam Masaala hits you immediately like the seasoning" Atif: "Yes, same experience as Wasaabi ice cream. I really like their gelatos - the flavors are true, intense, and complex." (subsequently tried other sorbets and liked Lemon Rosemary and Melon, but sorbets are still a notch below the gelatos - mainly inconsistent texture) Ok, I can't take this any more! Time to bring out the big guns. I crawl up on my stomach to Mommee and make my patented soulful eyes at her. She cracks up: "Ok, Maya. You win. Guys, what should we get her?" Atif: "Hey, I also read there is a partnership between Bent Spoon and Pawtisserie for doggy ice cream." What? Doggy ice cream? ONLY for me? Hooraaay! As we walk into Pawtisserie, Mommee looks at all the dog collars and pet stuff around. I pull at them. Focus, folks, focus. I want ice cream! Mommee: So, what should we get her? Atif: Hanna Banana looks interesting. Let's go with that. Finally... as Mommee opens up the pint of Hanana Banana, I start licking away furiously. I can hear the bells ring in the distance, and there must be rainbows everywhere. I seem to be attracting a crowd of people who are smiling at the gusto with which I am enjoying ice cream. Oooh, love it. Refreshing! Lick. Lick. Lick. Atif: "Will she ever come up for air? I hope she doesn't get short of breath!" Mommee: "Oh, she could be at it for a long time. I need to stop soon or Miss Greedy Pig here (me??) would get a tummy ache." Lick. Lick. Lick. Lick. Hey, don't take that away! Let me finish it. It will melt on the way back home! Awwww... That, my friends, is the tale of a warm summer afternoon in Princeton. In my most favorite ice cream place in the world! Well, mine at least, if not Atif's. What can I say, I am a Jersey gal!

Best ice cream in NJ! I have been here a few times and every time that I go there it seems that they have better and better flavors. This past time I got the Apricot Sorbet made with Dogfish Head Aprihop beer and it was the best yet! Please keep up the amazing work!

I love Bent Spoon!! Yes the portions are small, but every lick from those tiny spoons is divine. Bent Spoon is known for organic, creative ice cream and sorbet. Their flavors change at least every season, so it's fun to come in and see what's new. Any of their mascarpone ice creams are DELICIOUS.

Amazing little ice cream shop in Princeton (and I do mean little). There is only room for a couple people ordering and about 2 tables. They have around 8 or 9 flavors that change seasonally, and they are all pretty original. The small comes with up to two flavors, so on a recent visit I got the roasted pumpkin marscapone with cinnamon, and they went together amazingly. The ice cream comes in tiny cups with tiny spoons, so you may initially feel that you're getting ripped off, but it is so rich that you probably won't want more. Definitely a must-try. Cash only!

Was taken here by a relative. There was a line leading out onto the road instantly indicating that this was a popular destination, especially in the summer. It was my first time in Princeton and I'm so glad that we went here. Since I am vegan, there were some non-dairy options. I went with a scoop of dark chocolate sorbet and mango sorbet. Both were excellent and brought out an interesting flavor. My husband had two fruity flavors - blood orange and mango. Both original flavors tasting great. Was not too sweet. Just right. Temperature also just right. Keeping the door closed to make sure the ice cream stays at the right temperature. Also noticed that they had very interesting flavors for those who consume dairy. Definitely a must visit! Looking forward to my next visit there.

Along with Thomas Sweet, the two best ice cream places in the entire area, as far as I am concerned. Although Thomas Sweet goes with more traditional flavors, the seasonal local and daily (sometimes more than once a day) changes at Bent Spoon are wonderful. It's best in the spring/summer/fall season when local fruits (and vegetables!!) are available for some truly amazing and unique flavors but still just as good all year long.

I really like their $5 "bent spoon bucks." I received one as a no-reason-in-particular gift and indulged in a LARGE 4-scoop cup. It felt so good! I hardly need to rave about their dark chocolate sorbet or their earl grey ice cream, but I will. They're my absolute favorites! As mentioned, it is absurdly overpriced, which is why if you're a kindly person and have some extra money, you will distribute "bent spoon bucks" to your less-fortunate fellow human beings. It will definitely brighten someone's day!

Were it not for the Bent Spoon, many a Princeton graduate student might have shriveled up and died in their lab basements and cubicles. It's one of those saving graces of the local Princeton town (that number can be counted on one hand) and can motivate one to push through a day of work. I personally buy a scoop so I can taste the variety of flavors first. Some memorable ones: Earl grey tea-- it's novel to have the taste of tea in a cold, non-liquified texture. Honeydew-- smoother than eating melon itself. Sorbets of all sorts, especially their blood orange-- sweet and tangy and cooling. Pistachio-- it's so potently pistachioey, it's more like the essence of pistachio, as if you took that filmic skin of pistachio, compressed it, and turned it into ice cream. It's a fun game to walk into the store and guess what flavors they'll have for the day. Even more fun is getting a free scoop after you've finished off your punch card!

Best-tasting ice cream in Princeton! Due to the Bent Spoon's price, Halo Pub is a better value, but the Bent Spoon is so much more yummy! My friend thinks the flavors here are too weird, but I love the unique flavors!

Very popular spot that, as a vegan, I previously eschewed. Then I came to find out that many of their "sorbets" are vegan (ask which contain honey). Now, I know what you're thinking: sorbet = fruit ice. Not so! They do have fruity flavors, but my faves are the ones that taste like ice cream: dark chocolate and coconut. Tip: You can even have a shake made with sorbet & soy milk; you'd never know it was dairy-free. Please put a "Vegans Always Welcome" sign in your window, Bent Spoon; I can't be the only vegan in the dark.

The Bent Spoon is a REQUIRED stop in a visit to Princeton. In a town where there is an ice cream shop on most corners, bent spoon sticks out as a maker of fresh, unique flavored ice cream (which is closer to gelato in its texture). Their hot chocolate (euro-style) is ACTUALLY euro-style, as though you are getting it from a patisserie in Paris. It's very rich though--so be forewarned. Don't forget to order marshmallows, they are most certainly worth the extra splurge. They are homemade-- light and fluffy, a far cry from the ones that you'd buy at the supermarket or make smores with. For those who visit in winter-- just note that there are about 3 tables, and a total of probably 10 people can fit in the shop at once. In the summertime, there are plenty of benches to enjoy your bent spoon while people watching in Palmer Square or on Nassau st. The cupcakes are also a taste of goodness. Though different from the trendy-likes of Crumbs or Magnolia, these little treats have a great buttercream frosting, and are actually normal sized. Do NOT miss out on this great little shop. I'd say, it might even be worthwhile to visit Princeton JUST to go to bent spoon.

The best ice cream I have had in a really long time. Rich and creamy, it's made from local organic ingredients. I had the lavender mascarpone, chocolate mint cookie and vanilla streak. Soooo good. Can't wait to go back!

I love this place and always recommend to people visiting Princeton. It's unique and has got character. The ice creams are delicious and the flavors are unusual. I like the smaller portions too. Their mini-cupcakes are delicious (and organic) and so is their hot chocolate mix. I love the frozen banana "ice cream" they do and their cute "I love NJ" tshirt. Lots and lots of creativity in this place! Only thing I don't like is that they serve their ice cream in little black plastic cups. Could they not use paper so that it's more recyclable? This always struck me as odd since they are such big champions of local, sustainable, etc. Seems like they wouldn't want to be big consumers of plastic.

Like any Ivy League college town, Princeton's chockablock with bland boutiques and clean public bathrooms. Consider Bent Spoon a pleasing respite from the ho-hum. 5-STARS: Cardamom Ginger Ice Cream Delicious! Vibrant flavors. Calls to mind the summer I lived above Toscanini and oh, how I loved their Kulfi. ( yelp.com/biz/u1Xq93R4LQ2… ) 4.5-STARS: Garam Masala Ice Cream Vibrant, also. A punchy play of unexpected flavors. Pineapple Sorbetto At some point in my recent past, I overindulged on the fruit so it takes the perfect pineapple to make me sit up and care. Yes! This is everything you want pineapple to be: fresh and fragrant, chunky and not stringy. 4-STARS: Stout Flavored Ice Cream Malty, delicious. Y'know how an Irish sidecar can taste like chocolate milk? This flavor is equally delicious and a lot less punishing. Indian Mango Sorbetto Pungent sweetness; vaguely fermented. 3-STARS: Ricotta Ice Cream Fabulously chewy the way ricotta ice creams tends to be, but I suspect this one's made with cow's milk ricotta. It lacks the proper tang. Lavender Mascarpone Ice Cream Mascarpone offered nothing in terms of flavor or texture. Neither did the lavender. Bent Spoon offers a frequent buyer's card. Ten scoops = a free cone, whooo! Though I do appreciate the refined texture of Capogiro's gelato, I'm much more finicky about flavor. This, my friends, is Bent Spoon's niche ...

A must have while in Princeton! Every flavor is fresh and has that homemade unprocessed quality to it. The presentation of the cups and those tiny spoons make it even more fun to really savor. The dark chocolate ice cream is wonderful, and I tend to love it with the raspberry sorbet or mascarpone ice cream. It's perfect texture as well, and just the right amount of sweet. Delicious!

I have many many friends who simply adore this place; my attitude is more moderate. I like this place, they offer some good sorbet selections, and some very innovative ingredients. But their sorbets/ice creams are extremely sweet. Their cupcakes are also doused in sugar. The taste of sugar overwhelms all the other ingredients. Give it try, it's either love or hate at first try.

I'd rather give it a 3.5, but I'm in a good mood. Halo is great, traditional ice cream. Thomas Sweet is too sweet and too rich, which makes it more or less like a cool whip version. And then you have Bent Spoon, which is the closest we have to gelato. It wasn't too crowded during the Rotary Club's Pancake Breakfast, so we stopped in (usually there are 50+ people inside and a line out the door). Coconut looked good, as did Greek Yogurt with Honey and Walnuts. The coconut had the same problem that anything made with coconut milk has--a textural issue which my husband loves, and which I find kind of paste like. The Greek Yogurt seemed to be missing the walnuts, but tasted like cheesecake batter--YUM! This was rich but smooth and oh so good. $3.50 for a small (2 scoops) and I would love to try it again sometime.

Gourmet ice cream! Need I say more? We found out about 2 months into living where we do that we live about 10 minutes away from this place and we made a tacit agreement never to move! If you're the adventurous type and can't live in their cookie cutter vanilla and chocolate world, then this is the place for your. Their inspired flavors are constantly changing so you'll never have the same ice cream experience twice! It's really a great place!

Got to get one thing out of my mind: This place seems to be VERY popular and a bit overrated in my opinion. However, to be fair, the bent spoon usually does beat the boring flavors at Halo Fete & Thomas Sweet to the far side of the galaxy. Once you get used to this place it is impossible to give it up. What I've tried so far: Nectarine: Excellent. A must have, tastes natural and very peachy, also big hit with friends. Raspberry Lychee: Good. Personally, would pass on it next time. Blood Orange: Better. They captured the blood orange taste very well. May be worth getting again. NJ Rosemary: Good. Interesting flavor eh? Salty... The downside is it doesn't mix well with fruity ice cream at all. Would pass on this one next time. Plum: Good. Did not really think it tastes like plum, but was still quite fruity and alright. Blueberry Mascarpone: Good. Tastes more like a blueberry cheesecake, hence a little on the heavy side; I'm sure there are people into that. Turkish coffee: Excellent. Not as heavy as other coffee flavors surprisingly plus has a nice load of cardamom. Caramelized white choc: Excellent again. Hazelnut or chocolate hazelnut are two of the best flavors for me personally.

I love the Bent Spoon! This is the best ice cream I've ever had, except maybe for homemade ice cream. My favorite is their dark chocolate sorbet paired with a fruit sorbet, such as blood orange, mango or some of their specials. It's awesome that they have so many vegan options and if you're trying to be especially healthy you can get the banana whip - made from bananas and nothing else. Best place in Princeton, in my opinion!

Tried it for the first time yesterday and it's now my favorite ice cream shop!!! Can't believe my boyfriend didn't bring me here before :P Their unique flavors, especially their flavor combinations, are amazing!!! I loved the peach rose flavor and rosemary mascarpone flavor that I had last night- It's the first time rose flavor doesn't taste like cosmetics to me and the rosemary mascarpone has a great savory note to it that balanced out the sweetness. Can't wait to go back and try all their flavors!!

Hands down my favorite ice cream shop anywhere. The quality is superb, the flavors memorably unique. The dark chocolate (ice cream or sorbet) is as good as it gets. Lines can be long in warm weather, and the interior is tiny. And the staff isn't necessarily super friendly. But with quality this good, I'll overlook it! Do note they're never open seven evenings a week so be sure you look before heading over.

I'll make this short and sweet, just like the amount of time you actually spend inside this place. Atmosphere- always a long line, but it moves surprisingly fast. Don't be afraid to ask for a sample, because the employees kindly oblige, even with the 25 people behind you. It's a little pricy, but worth it. Ice cream- unique flavor combos are their thing- lavender and mascarpone, honey and sage, coffee made with actually roasted beans, peanut butter made with salty natural PB, saffron, I could go on. There are the usual suspects- vanilla, chocolate, and sorbets. Vegan, organic, and locally sourced options. I love that you can order just 1 small scoop that is a true serving size. But don't worry, you can also get a 3 scoop sundae.

We went to tour Princeton with our junior high school son and the tour guide said that this was an absolute must visit. After grabbing some food we wandered over to see for ourselves. After tasting about 5 flavors (all imaginative and delicious), I settle on the lavender mascarpone and chocolate Rosemary. Our group also had the coconut, mocha, vanilla bean and blood orange. Everything was awesome and the server helping us was pleasant and accommodating with all our taste test requests. I can now unequivocally say that this was the best ice cream/gelato that I've ever had and agree with our tour guide that this is an absolute must visit if you are in Princeton.

This has to be the longest I ever waited for ice cream. We got in line around 9pm on a Sunday and finally got our ice cream around 9:45pm. As we were waiting, the line kept on getting longer and longer. There's very little seating, but this is a great place for a treat while walking around Princeton. The small is $4, but you can get two different flavors. I tried the dark dark chocolate and the hazelnut. The hazelnut was sweet and light. The sweetness might have overpowered the hazelnut flavor. The chocolate deserves those double darks. It was super extra dark, but the bitter sweetness was a good contrast to the hazelnut. They also offered a regular dark chocolate that day for those who wanted something sweeter. We paired the ice cream with one of their chocolate chip cookies. The texture was harder and more crumbly. I couldn't really taste the cookie because the ice cream was so sweet, but it did its purpose in providing a different texture to the ice cream. I saw on their walls, they sell cookie ice cream sandwiches and croissant ice cream sandwiches. Definitely something to try in the future.

Loving both Halo Pub and this ice cream parlor, I'm always torn between the two and basically come to both places equally as often. It's no surprise to see a long line outside the shop, especially on a good summer night and on weeknights! Though there's a line, the line moves very quickly! They have a good system serving ice cream. Last time, I came here with my friend for his first time, and he fell in love after ordering a scoop of mango sorbet! The mango flavor was so rich, fragrant, and real! It tasted like a real mango fruit! REMINDER: Be sure to bring cash since they don't accept any other forms of payments. There are a couple of tables for you to sit in, but I usually take it and stroll down the streets!

Lavender ice cream? Mascarpone pistachio? Lines out the door to show off your popularity? Yeah, I'm down. I'll wait. I'll trust the masses. Bent Spoon is tucked away on Princeton's Campus amidst the high end retail shops and cafes. During a recent Jersey trip, I had the pleasure of checking out this Yelp adored establishment. Flavors are very creative and would leave you to believe the shop has a posh and modern feel - not the case. The hippy-ish vibe felt more like it could have been Ben & Jerry's original establishment. Ordering at the counter can be on the chaotic side so try to study up on the flavors as much as you can before making the plunge. I opted for the pistachio and dark chocolate. Both were lovely. My buyer's remorse? Not ordering the lavender - I made the mistake of sampling that scoop of heaven after I had already placed my order.

How has it taken me this long to write a review of my absolute favorite ice cream shop ever?! I have nothing but good things to say about this place, delicious ice cream, friendly staff, cute interior and perfect location! Yes, it might be hard to find parking in Palmer square, and sure, the lines can get long at peak times, and it's certainly not cheap for ice cream, but it's all worth it for the freshest unique flavors you will ever find! And don't disregard their drinks or cupcakes, the Bent Spoon can do no wrong!

Best ice cream/gelato/sorbet. Period. My favorite flavor had been their ricotta - it tastes like ricotta cheesecake. Their coconut sorbet and dark chocolate sorbet are also good stand-bys if there is nothing else you want. They also do different varieties of hot chocolate in the winter. Not bad for TCNJ grads in Princeton!

I've lived in four countries and travelled to twelve, and I can honestly say this is some of the best ice cream the world has to offer. If you're a newcomer try the blood orange, bourbon caramel, or ginger. Creamed corn is a summer seasonal flavor that deserves mention! The tiny cupcakes by the register are underrated bites of buttercream perfection. Have one!

Definitely a Princeton hotspot - the line is ALWAYS out the door. It is cash only - didn't find out until I got to the register. They have very unique flavors like saffron and Turkish coffee. They let you taste whatever you'd like. The texture of the ice cream is more like a creamy gelato and less like a traditional hard ice cream. The small is $4.50 and it's 2 scoops - perfect for a small treat to enjoy as you walk about Princeton.

Why is the spoon bent?! We'll never know, but what we do know is that The Bent Spoon is probably one of the most popular places for dessert at Princeton. The line is always out the door, but it's worth it. They have a variety of flavors from fruity ones to super unique ones. I had an Earl Grey Tea Dark Chocolate milkshake (ever heard of that?!) that was really good. It wasn't bitter earl grey at all... who knew that dark chocolate (bitter) would go well with slightly bitter tea to create a heavenly sweet combination? It was $5.75 for a milkshake - standard, I would say. The staff is super quick and nice, considering all the customers they have to deal with. There's also cupcakes and cookies and much more! There's hardly anywhere to sit, but Princeton is a great town to just walk around while eating ice cream, so there's no reason to sit! Also, note this place is cash only (or local checks...whatever that means, but there's a bunch of banks/ATMs on Nassau Street).

Fantastic ice cream! A cornucopia of flavors and organic/local options. The cashiers helped me out because I was on a specific budget. Located right next to Princeton University, the building has a charming feel to it. The inside is small but it looks like the inside of a home. Definitely would recommend!

No sprinkles here but the ice cream doesn't need it. Dark chocolate was delicious and salter vanilla caramel had swirls of caramel. You need to stop in here!

Three favorite flavors: lemon raspberry, dark chocolate sorbet & passion fruit. Pro tip: take the big sundae: 3 flavor, whipped cream, fudge for $7

Light, creamy ice cream in flavors more unique than your everyday ice cream shop. Friendly service; I was encouraged to try as many flavors as I wished before making my choice. (Which I did - duh, that's a no-brainer!) For my medium/3-scoop treat my ultimate choices were: lavender mascarpone, strawberry rhubarb, and a coffee something (forgot the exact name). I almost forgot to try the lavender mascarpone & I'm so glad I was reminded of it! This ice cream had a distinct hint of lavender and is one of the most unique and interesting ice cream flavors I've tasted. It was delightful! The strawberry rhubarb was yummy, too. A terrific and refreshing fruity blend. I love coffee ice cream, so I wanted to get their take on that one as well, which was quite good. Because the ice cream didn't feel "heavy" my 3-scoop treat didn't overwhelm or over-stuff me. They weren't GIANT scoops. At $5, it's a tad pricey, but worth it. :-)

What could I possibly say that everyone else hasn't already said about the MOST AMAZING ICE CREAM PLACE EVER? That's it. That's all that's needed. Hands down - BEST ICE CREAM-SORBET-HOT CHOCOLATE-ICE CREAM place ever. EVER EVER EVER. Don't plan on sitting inside, it's small and cramped, but who cares! Go outside and eat your ice cream and then come back and have another one because you'll want to. I guarantee you will. The flavors are ever changing with the seasons but some favorites? Blood orange, whatever coffee flavor, blueberry, honestly, anything. Small portions, big flavors. Everything is so good. The hot chocolate is thick. It's basically melted down chocolate. Heavy, so beware. I think it's cash only or minimum with a card. They have a punch card for when you visit - totally worth saving. If you're in the area, you should DEFINITELY stop here.

Delicious delicious delicious! Some comments: the line was very long on a Sunday, but totally worth it. The medium is much bigger than the small. The flavors are unique but I wasn't a fan of most of the options so I stuck with vanilla bean and hazelnut. If you're looking for cookies n cream or butter pecan, don't come here. The ice cream melted very quickly so it may be a good option to get the cup rather than the cone. Would give 5 stars for taste, but I settled with 4 since there weren't many options for me. Other people may have a different opinion depending on your taste.

I put off writing a review, because for years now I have kept this to myself as a private haunt. I don't know if it has been a matter of timing, but the last few times I've popped in I have come to face the reality that the secret is well Out. It can get busy at times. Coffee and hazelnut pistachio - mocha latte with cream. The vanilla latte does not require additional sugar, but it does require at least 10 minutes to snuggle into the corner, stare out the window and fully appreciate its depth of emotion, flavor and roast.

The Princeton area has no lack of ice cream options and Bent Spoon is one of the best. Their ice cream is made with great organic ingredients-- many of which come from local producers. There is always a good mix of more traditional flavors as well as some more unique offerings, such as Rhubarb or recently, Sea Salt Caramel with Whisky. I also love the local "store" items--for example, this is one of the few places you can fine the Prince-Ton stickers, with the image of the artist (currently known? Formally known? Who knows anymore) as Prince. If there is any drawback to The Bent Spoon, it is that the store is so small, on a busy night you're going to be waiting outside to get in.

A must go-to in the Princeton area! My favorite is the joney - so refreshing and sweet! The store is so lovely inside and out! I love the stores surrounding it as well.

Great shakes - try the banana cream and vanilla bean together. The shop itself is a little small so I would recommend taking your ice cream elsewhere to eat.

After reading all the great yelp reviews, I really was intrigued to try bent spoon. My wish was granted today! There was a line outside of the shop even around 10pm on a beautiful, breezy Saturday night. I was so worried on what flavors to try. The girl who was helping us gave us a spoon of some flavors to taste and did not rush us even though there were so many people behind us. I really appreciate that since it was my first time and I really didn't know what flavor I would like. I chose the ricotta ice cream and chocolate sorbet! I absolutely love anything with chocolate so I loved the chocolate sorbet. The ricotta ice cream also tasted pretty authentic...my sister thought it tasted like cannoli filling! I'm looking forward to trying more flavors and other goodies such as the hot chocolate, cupcakes and cookies!

The Bent Spoon is a great place for delicious ice cream after a stroll around Princeton! With their famous flavor Blood Orange and many other unique flavors, I would definitely recommend this place if you're looking for some different ice cream flavors. The only down side is that there's usually long lines. But it's totally worth it!

Always serving up funky flavors like Tree or Basil, but are kinda like Haagen-Dazs in that I think their simple flavors are what gives them their street cred. One of my favorite ice cream places in the world; check them out and then go relax on the grass in Palmer Square : ) PS: Not sure they have vegan ice cream, and they do have mini cupcakes if someone wants something else, but really it's just ice cream : )

What a delicious experience. We had never been there before, but we took a chance and went in the middle of the afternoon and had no trouble finding a parking spot. There weren't too many people waiting online, so it was pleasant to wait. Everyone behind the counter was especially congenial, and we were so pleased. I ordered two items to take home, and once I tasted them, I realized we would have to return SOON. The flavors were so delicious and intense! I ordered mocha ice cream and deep chocolate sorbet. My tongue was dancing with joy. It's time to try more flavors. YUM!

This is what I would call adult friendly ice cream. By that I mean no artificially enhanced colors, and rotating seasonal and very interesting flavors. This is not to say kids won't like it, it's just that they won't find bubble gum, cotton candy, or mix ins here. My choices today were: dark chocolate, homemade ricotta, and NJ blueberry mascarpone. Each were incredible in their own right, and as they melted they blended nicely with each other. This is a tiny shop, sadly there is no gratis water either. But there are wonderful cookies and cupcakes that are as good as the ice cream. It gets busy so the few available inside seats are not recommended, just walk across the street and you will find spots to sit in the park. I've been here many times, and have found their products locally as well. I really love this place but can't commit to the 5th star. It needs to be a bit more creamy for that. I deem it 4.75 spoons(bent of course)

Finally got the chance to come here and wow I am very impressed! I really wanted to get the Lavender Mascarpone but they didn't have it at the time =( Oh well.. gives me another excuse to come back lol. It was also my first time in Palmer Square.. not sure why I never came here earlier. This area is so cute and I've been in Jersey all my life! Definitely see myself coming here more in the near future. I originally stopped by here a little after 8 PM (Friday night) to check it out but the lines were out the door and around the store. Yikes. Decided to get dinner with the girls first and came back here around 10:30 PM. There was still a line, but it was much shorter this time. I'm giving this place 5 stars because their flavors are really amazing, creative and unique. The ambiance isn't the best and you probably will feel so cramped at times because it's so crowded (just hope that there's good weather outside just in case you can't find a seat inside). But that was okay because the staff is fantastic here and made up for all of that. They are very helpful, patient and friendly. This is a cute little shop with charm to it. I think my college roommate and I tried over 10 flavors and we decided to share a medium (3 scoops) - it's 1 more scoop than the small for just an additional 50 cents ($4.50 for a small and $5 for a medium). Worth it! Heck, I'd probably would have gotten a large all to myself if I wasn't so full from dinner. I already had massive food coma from dinner but I don't regret eating at Bent Spoon one bit. So glad I came here and it definitely lives up to the hype. We decided to get the Mango, Coconut and Vanilla Sea Salt Caramel. The mango and coconut was very refreshing and the vanilla sea salt caramel was very sweet, rich and creamy - but in a good way. I can't wait to come back and try more flavors :) I highly recommend trying out some flavors before making a final decision. Enjoy! :) FYI - cash only.

BEST ICE CREAM EVER. Cannot express my love for Bent Spoon in words. Creamiest, most delightful ice cream in the world!! The line is always out the door but service is fast and friendly. They have the most unique flavors and somehow they manage them to make every single one work. I have never heard any complaints about this incredible store. Just perfection.

Aside from not knowing it was cash-only, our experience at The Bent Spoon was nothing less than five stars. After trying a few sample-spoons, we were ready. We ordered the ricotta & hazelnut and the dark chocolate & hazelnut, and they were outstanding. The flavors were just amazing. They were super creamy and thick that gave their ice cream that gelato-feel. While they don't serve 'gelato' by name, I would say the taste and feel of their ice cream is comparable to Philly's Capogiro (5 stars in my book), if not better. They also have some delicious looking cakes, cupcakes, and cookies that I plan on trying next time. The Bent Spoon is in a small, cozy spot in Palmer Square. They have a few tables inside, with plenty of public places to sit outside, making it a perfect snack to enjoy when the weather is nice. The Bent Spoon is a MUST-HAVE when you're in the Princeton area.

Case for: Interesting flavors. Local ingredients. Cachet. Case against: Long lines. Minimal seating. Cash only. Expensive. Twee. No doubt this is a premium product, which justifies the price and wait. If you're a daytripper, you probably have to come in order to say you have. Once you've had the experience, however, I recommend making sure a flavor you truly want (Hazelnut, Irish Cream, Lavender Mascarpone are standouts) is on offer before standing in line. If not, continue on to Halo Pub, which will also have a line, but also a constant menu, better seating and pricing, and is 90% as good. One exception: the vegan jalapeno hot chocolate is the ne plus ultra of Princeton winter drinks. Nothing better anywhere in town at any price. Worth the wait, $5, and sitting on the precarious church pew in the window.

My boyfriend and I got the cookies and cream and he had a blood orange sorbet and I had a blackberry sorbet. My goodness it was incredible! A perfectly sweetened ice cream and sorbet, stable, and definitely worth the price! They also had avocado and rhubarb sorbet! Must try!!

  • Joy L.

Our group of five gluttoned on (not a word), coming in from Nomad Pizza for some dessert. Half the group opted to get ice cream here, while the other half wandered down to Halo Pub. I was in the half that stayed at the bent spoon, and I had no regrets! The flavour selection was less extensive, but more ecletic: I had earl grey topped with blueberry mascarpone topped with vanilla bean, and wished I had three more scoops to try all the other flavours! The ice cream was creamy - none of that watery crap - and the flavours were well captured. I was especially impressed with how much the earl grey came through! After endless cups of artificial froyo all over the Rutgers campus, the bent spoon was a welcome treat.

Awesome flavors and great location. The only thing I could complain about is the limited space inside when it gets busy, especially in the summer when the line starts to drift outside and you're stuck waiting in the heat. Otherwise, this is definitely a great spot for a date or family outing.

  • Jodi N.

Love it! Great unique flavors. Most of the staff are very friendly buy some of them are just plain rude. Some of them are keep eating ice cream with the sample spoon and I don't know if that proves their ice cream is soooo good or it is just wrong to do that when they are working. Either way the flavor of ice cream is so great I can care less about the others.

My favorite ice cream in Princeton! To be clear, it's 5 stars for my Princeton standard, but probably only 4 compared to LA/NY places. I like their ice cream's rich, dense, gelato feel. It's thicker and creamier than normal ice cream, which makes their small portion feel satisfying. Their cupcakes are good! Moist cake portion with just the right amount of yummy buttercream frosting. Love when people get these for study breaks. I also love their hot chocolate, but watch out! It's super thick. BUT you have to get your ice cream and drown it in their hot chocolate. It's sooo good, like affogato. Since their hot chocolate is not super sweet, it really works. My favorite flavors throughout the years (they are seasonal so they change flavors a lot): -basil -dark chocolate sorbet -coconut sorbet: so fruity and interesting! -peanut butter -cinnamon -lavender vanilla mascarpone -salted caramel apple -passion fruit -sweet corn -olive oil -Greek yogurt!! Olives usually carries this one, it's got candied walnuts in it for a yummy crunch -chocolate hazelnut -ricotta -earl grey Always a favorite place to go with friends :) Seating is very limited, but there's tons of benches outside.

Bent Spoon offers a wide variety of flavors. I tried it for the first time last week and I was not disappointed! Some of the flavors are a little subtle, but there are some that are to the point! I ordered one scoop of Strawberry Mascarpone and another scoop of Milk Chocolate Hazelnut, and they were both quite delicious! The staff was very friendly and the service was fast too. Make sure to go during the weekdays because it will get quite crowded at nights and weekends. The only downside is that they only accept cash, so it might be a little bit inconvenient. The inside seating can be a bit jammed, but you can always eat your ice cream and take a nice stroll outside around palmer square. It will burn off some of the calories too!

  • Rebecca R.

Pretty much everyone else has said it, but let me repeat: the best ice cream ever lives at the Bent Spoon. They have the most creative ice cream flavors I've ever seen. The staff was super friendly and didn't roll their eyes when I asked for like 4 different samples because I couldn't choose which delicious flavor I wanted, which was appreciated. I finally decided on a scoop of hazelnut and a scoop of ricotta and I have no regrets. All my friends tried it unanimously voted that my combination was the best. I'd recommend it to everyone. It is a little pricier than your average ice cream place but it is so, so, so worth it!

  • Selina I.

The most wonderful ice cream ever! I love love LOVE the bent spoon. I am never disappointed by any of their flavors (basil, lavender mascarpone, chocolate earl grey). The ice cream is perfectly rich and creamy and intense every single time. Only downside is that they only take cash!!!

Thought the quality was excellent but the prices were a tad high for the quantity. Had the blood orange sorbet which was tasty and very different. Wait time was moderate as I was there on a Wednesday night and atmosphere was fun.

  • Joy Y.

Kind of obsessed with their tree flavor - the slight taste of grass adds a nice touch to the otherwise simple creamy and sugary ice cream. Back when I was in college a few years ago I also remembering loving the olive oil and Greek yogurt flavors.

  • Nicholas W.

The Bent Spoon transcends the mediocrity of a lot of ice cream places to become something that's uniquely Princeton. Ice cream is somewhat of a misnomer for this place, as the ice cream is incredibly rich, approaching an almost gelato-like consistency (I shudder to think of the fat content). You can't go wrong with any of the flavors here. If anything, you should be concerned more about how the different flavors pair with each other. They rotate flavors based on whatever local ingredients they have available. My personal favorites so far have been the Earl Grey Dark Chocolate and the Carrot (not together, that'd be weird). $4.50 for a small "ice cream" might be a bit pricey on a college budget, but who cares? It's delicious. Come to the Bent Spoon. Ignore the fat content and eat your entire "small".

For more years than I can remember I've been cramming into this tiny slice of heaven, working my way past the artisan ice cream, to find the tiny little miracles in a fancy glass case, called.... cupcakes. In all the years, and over countless celebrations, we have NEVER been let down by a single cupcake. The cake portion of the cupcake is equally as yummy, and as perfectly cake-like as it can be. The frosting is not to be missed. Period! They offer chocolate and vanilla cupcakes that melt in your mouth and then top them with either butter cream or chocolate frosting. I don't recommend the larger cupcake to my friends, because the flavor is exactly the same of it's tinier caloric counterpart. But by all means, if you simply want MORE, then GO FOR IT! I further recommend the vanilla frosting to my friends, over the chocolate. The chocolate is always great, and perfectly mastered. But it tastes familiar to other chocolate recipes. The vanilla frosting stands out as the most unique flavor of butter cream I have ever experienced. It's sweet and just a tiny salty, leaving your taste buds in such a quandary that you keep eating and tasting to see if it's the 'sweet' you're digging or the 'savory' your craving. It's hard not to want to devour what ever size of cupcake you purchase as your make your way through your flip-flopping taste buds. It's quite rich, but not over done. On to other, non frozen treats..... Their cookies have also not once disappointed me. I love the lemon and lavender and ginger flavorings. They also sell this amazing caramel by a company called Lidbits. The Bent Spoon has something for everyone, including amazing coffee. And it's ALWAYS GREAT! Now, I will mention I have also enjoyed their ice cream very much over the years. I am not a huge fan of ice cream in general. But The Bent Spoon does have some way-out-there flavorings which remind me of those little Jelly Belly beans that seemed to be inspired by Willy Wonka himself. Ice cream choices friends have picked while I've been along, include corn and bacon- it was loved! A beer flavored inspiration from either River Horse or Triumph, I forget. Again, devoured. And many other flavors that are always changing, from typical to unusual. True confession, the only ice cream I ever get excited about, not being an ice cream kind of girl, is their lavender. It's out of the world. But, I usually still buy a tiny vanilla buttercream cupcake for later.

This is one of those places where I would normally bitch and moan about how expensive it is for ice cream, but I can't bring myself to do it. When it comes to ice cream, The Bent Spoon is in a league of its own. I don't always get very excited about places that have a line out the door, mainly because waiting sucks and most times it's not even worth the wait (think most popular cheese steak spots in Philly), but The Bent Spoon is a wait worth waiting. Where else can you treat your tongue to artisan ice cream flavors such as chocolate rose or corn bacon (that's right corn flavored ice cream with bacon bits, if you don't try it at least once, I feel sorry for you)? Unlike the chain ice cream shops and even a large amount of indie ice cream joints, The Bent Spoon is all about crafting home made ice cream using local ingredients. You will likely wait in line, but you will always be getting service with a smile and some of the most unique flavors that you've never even heard of as well as standard classics. If that doesn't sound good, go to Cold Stone where they will beat your ice cream like a rag doll. I'll be at the Bent Spoon enjoying some of the best damn ice cream in the garden state.

I don't normally drink hot chocolate, but when I do, I expect full fat, artery clogging goodness. Bent Spoon, WIN. This hot chocolate is so rich I would probably be content with a shot glass sized amount. If you enjoy a kick, try it with the habanero. Verrrry creamy and a bit sweeter than I'd normally go for (but still probably not too sweet for some). I have a pretty solid sweet tooth - I could only drink half of my small sized drink. I drank the second half the next day (it was refrigerated, of course!).

  • Ashley W.

Just tried the strawberry rhubarb and it was amazing! The Bent Spoon is always my favorite place to go after lunch because the line is always long after dinner (a testament to how good it is). I recommend taking advantage of the sample-spoons since there are always so many interesting and delicious flavors to try. Everything is organic, it's the best ice cream and sorbet that I've had in all of New Jersey. There's a very small seating area so don't expect to sit inside, but the area is nice to walk around or sit on a bench while eating.

    (5)
  • Sharon G.

Cardamom Ginger Ice Cream. Does it get much better than that? Yes, you will wait in line, it will seem expensive, and don't expect to sit inside. It's worth it. The best ice cream in Princeton and probably all of New Jersey. Inventive combinations, local cool ingredients, fun vibe. Wherever you're dining in Princeton, skip dessert and go here instead.

if there's one thing you can be sure of in princeton, it's that there are enough ice cream and froyo places to please any palate... and they're all within comfortable walking distance of one another. there are days when I just want some really good strawberry or cookies n' cream ice cream. for that, there's halo pub. there are other days when all I want is nutella or oreo soft-serve with chocolate sprinkles. for that, there's thomas sweet. and then there are those days when nothing will satisfy my craving except a small scoop of a flavor I can't even begin to dream up. like corn bacon. or ricotta pistachio. or strawberry mascarpone. for this, there's the bent spoon. the bent spoon has been around for years now, and it's only this year that I've finally visited. what was I waiting for?! the ingredients used are mostly locally sourced, organic, and super creative. I mean, basil ice cream? sour cream ice cream? chocolate orange cardamom ice cream? YUP. all delicious. and they change practically every day, so there's always something new! they also have dairy-free sorbets in flavors from chocolate to blood orange to blueberry lemon for those days when I forget my lactaid pill. if that's not enough, they even designate which flavors are vegan, organic, locally sourced, etc. yes, the scoops are small. they aren't like the other places that serve up gigantic mounds that will overflow a huge cup. yes, they will let you sample every ice cream and sorbet they have. yes, a small (2 scoops) will run you $4.50... and they're cash only. yes, the other options in the area are great and will give you double the portion for half the price. yes, there's usually a line out the door. yes, the store is small and there isn't a ton of seating. yes, it's so totally worth it (quality over quantity, ya know?) ps- I've heard from many people that the cupcakes they sell here are delish. they probably are. if I ever have enough restraint to pass on the ice cream, I'll let y'all know.

Best ice cream on earth! The people who own this place are amazing and so customer service oriented. I frequently email them or contact them via Twitter to hold pints of certain flavors that I like. All the kids who work there are great. The hot chocolate and homemade marshmallows in the winter are a huge favorite too. Just go already!

This is a hippie gelato shop in Princeton, like Torricinos or Gia's in Jersey City, but smaller and more expensive. Here is what I liked: -unique flavors -farm fresh berry flavors sourced locally -made on site -tasting -you can mix and match flavors -sorbet available (refreshing on a hot day) Here is what I did not like: -A LINE. Who waits on line for gelato? -expensive $4.50 for a small -difference in price from a 2 scoop to a 3 scoop is .50 -no option for one scoop only -small store, not many seats gets crowded quickly. -cash only. It's 2014. Please accept my credit card. -really weird flavors 3.5 stars rounded down to three. I don't think I would come back here with the other options for treats in Princeton. I am also not very adventurous with my treats and only like vanilla and strawberry. So this place really isn't for me. Just my preference. You would like it if you want bacon or basil flavored treats. But I am not into that.

Classic ice cream parlor of Princeton. Good ice cream, with some unique seasonal flavors. Try their hot chocolates in the winter.

If you love chocolate then you will love The Bent Spoon . Unique flavors - My wife loved the chocolate orange which you might think is a weird combination but it actually tasted quite good. And I say that as someone who does not enjoy chocolate ! Just wish that there were a more choices for the #notsofondofchocolate yet ice cream lovers but I guess they add or change their flavors regularly ..so will make another trip !

It's hard to believe it's been 5 years since I was last here, but when I had a trip to Princeton, I insisted to my colleagues that we come here! I remember that I enjoyed the unique flavors and high quality ice cream. We popped in on a Tuesday afternoon quickly between meetings. Unfortunately this place closes early on Monday, so we couldn't come in after dinner. We tried several samples and I settled on a small with the chocolate cardamom and strawberry marscapone. I love that they will let you mix two flavors in a small. The chocolate cardamom had a deep, rich flavor lightly laced with orange. It had the right level of sweetness. The strawberry marscapone tasted of fresh strawberries (not just a flavoring) and is made with real New Jersey marscapone cheese. I relished every last bite. I look forward to coming back on my next visit to the area (and really hope it's less than 5 years from now :)!

Best ice cream place I've ever been to. A tad pricey, but with the creative and unusual flavors they offer, it is well worth the extra bucks. Try the lavender mascarpone or olive oil flavors- they are the best. Most unusual flavor I tried was chocolate wort, ie, ice cream made with chocolate plus the liquid malt extract which is added with yeast to eventually make beer. You can always count on finding a different mix of flavors there.

The gelatos are so flavorful and delicious! I tried passion fruit, plum, rosemary...there's a variety of interesting flavors! Such a small, cute shop - too bad the amount of gelato you get is really small as well.

Excellent ice cream! I was genuinely pleased when I got the Mocha chunk and the sea salt caramel vanilla. The chips in the mocha were ok, not the greatest. Not a huge variety, but still, everyone will find something they like. Bring cash because they don't take any credit/debit. It's a bit pricey for ice cream. The small is~$4.50 from what I remember but includes two scoops. But it's definitely worth it. Not much place to sit....about three tables total. Staff is very friendly though!

Fresh made ice cream at its finest. Yes there will be a line. Yes there are limited to no tables. However, the ice cream is well worth the wait. Depending on how hungry you are, I recommend going with 2-3 scopes in a cup so you can try a couple different flavors. You can't go wrong with many of their flavors however my personal favorite is the cookies and cream. In all fairness, Princeton does have a couple of good ice cream options however The Bent Spoon is my go-to spot.

Hello bourbon caramel! My new favorite flavor of the many, many options. Bent Spoon is a must visit in Princeton. Don't be alarmed if you see a line out the door, it goes fast (except on the weekends) and it worth every second of waiting. Don't get a small. Splurge and at least get a medium - big difference.

If E. L James wrote a book called " 50 flavors of the bent spoon" and discussed in detail how the flavors of lavender mascapone and DARK chocolate engulfed me in a mad series of passionate events- i'd probably read it. And i say PROBABLY, because i'd most likley drop the book to go experience it instead ( wouldnt you? ) . Lavender mascapone was great. I mean, i felt like it was marinating my taste buds with the musky flavors of bath and body works sprayed with creamy cheese. I was enchanted by how complicated the combination was. I ALWAYS just get chocolate, and i think this is the first time i am so glad i didn't. I tasted their ricotta pistacio as well- to die for! The combination sounds weird, but is genius! At bent spoon its 4.25 for 2 scoops- so i added the dark chocolate to the lavender mascapone.. What a good choice ! The dark chocolate was kinda bitter and not so heavy - just the way i like it! The consistency of everything i tasted was PERFECT- not tough and chewy, but smooth and creamy. The service was quick and servers were nice! There is paid parking right along the street. The only two cons : 1- no bathroom/ place to wash hands incase ice cream drips ( which would probably be a sin in itself) 2- 4.25 /2 scoops: I mean i cant ever imagine NOT wanting two scoops- but i think they should have an option for those who want a smaller size ( 1 scoop perhaps? ) However, this place deserves all the rave reviews. Other flavors included - chocolate peppercorn, regular chocolate, rhubarb, bluebeery, strawberry mascapone , etc. They also sell mini cupcakes ( 1.25) and larger cupcakes (2.25? ) I came here after stuffing myself with a chicken slouvaki from George's ( beside hoagie haven) so i thought i wouldn't enjoy ice cream. I thought wrong. Go to bent spoon- now!

Fantastic Ice cream place. The soft serve is the prefect blend of cold and creamy, not too cold and not too soft. There can be a line but it moves quick. Not a lot of seating inside, but that's not why you came here anyway. There are plenty of places to walk around. The Rhubarb and Dark Chocolate + Orange were delicious. Feel free to ask for samples.

Amazing unique ice creams. I've tried countless flavors and nothing has ever disappointed. Personal favorites include: dark chocolate sorbet, mixed berry sorbet, basil ice cream, salted caramel iced cream and everything else I've ever tried there. I also love their banana whips. Great texture the banana tastes just like ice cream, try it with hot fudge or salted caramel. The cookie ice cream sandwiches are a great deal and delicious, enough food for a meal. The ice cream is expensive but it's worth it for the occasional treat.

The bent spoon is one of my favorite ice cream places of all time and I've been to quite a few on the east and the west coast. The shop is really small and cute. The people working behind the counter are really friendly and always are willing to give free samples to people who want to try the icecream. All the flavors are really good. The sorbets are fruity and the ice cream is really flavorful and creamy. I've tried the mango, blueberry mango sorbet, dark chocolate jalepeno, blueberry mascarpone, coconut, and ricotta. All the flavors are delicious. The flavors rotate all the time though some some of the ones I've listed might not be there. To give you a better idea of ricotta it is like kind of like cheesecake but not as strong of a cheese flavor with cinnamon and some spice mixed in. If you are a fruit love def try the blueberry mango though it is an unexpectedly great combination. The shop is really small and cute not a lot of eating space so be prepared for that. Whenever I have a craving for ice cream when I am home I always try to come here. I guess the only downside is the prices and the space but they make up for it with the quality of the ice cream.

Fantastic little ice cream shop in Palmer Square. Being new to the area, I wanted to try out some local ice cream and I think I hit the jackpot. We decided to try the Turkish coffee, chocolate hazelnut and ricotta pistachio. I would highly recommend those three flavors because they were probably the most delicious things I have ever tasted. Perfect for a hot summer's day. I guess I'll have to go back and try the rest! And at $5 for a cup containing 3 scoops, it's definitely in the budget.

I had the mango sorbet, hazelnut ice cream, and dark chocolate ice cream. Honestly I was a little underwhelmed. It was good, but nothing special.

I don't care if it's cold outside! Enjoy some delicious ice cream from The Bent Spoon! Thinking I would be sharing, I ordered a large with 4 different scoops of ice cream. I ended up having to eat up most of it on my own which was okay because it was all so delicious. I happily devoured each different flavor. The tastes and the smooth texture are just so enjoyable, it doesn't matter that it's freezing cold outside. On top was mascarpone followed by chocolate orange cardamom next to a mango sorbet and ending with hazelnut on the bottom. The flavors that stood out most for me were the chocolate orange cardamom and mango. The cardamom gave an interesting kick, and I just did not want the mango to end. You should try whatever unique flavors they have to offer if you get to visit. At the time, they were also offering some flavors infused with bourbon and whiskey, but I loved the cup of ice cream I ended up with. It's okay, I was on vacation - good excuse to indulge in the absolute deliciousness of The Bent Spoon. Vibrant flavors. Rich texture. I'm going to have to bend more than my spoon if I want to keep savoring all of those yummy scoops for myself!

Bent Spoon makes me fat. That's pretty much the only negative I could think of. One might argue that $4.50 for a "small" cup of ice cream- and it is fairly small - is incredibly over priced. However, not only are their flavors fresh and vibrant, not to mention innovative, their ice cream is always rich and creamy enough that I have never managed to finish a medium (I feel stuffed about 2/3 of the way through it) and so I have learned my lesson and stick to a small Out of the 20(? I am guessing) times I have been here, I have maybe not enjoyed one of their flavors. Their ricotta is still my favorite to date. Plus, if you come enough times, buy 10 get 1 free is basically saving 50 cents on every cup you buy (if you milk your friends' ice cream purchases for reward stamps too, it becomes even cheaper) Also, their hot chocolate is freaking melted chocolate basically. you get the cup and go, hmph this is such a small cup (only one size). By the time you finish, you are not only full of warm fatty sweet goodness, but also just full. Cupcakes are meh and overpriced I'll admit

The Bent Spoon is one of my favorites. The ice cream is delicious, the flavors are unique and creative, and the ingredients are fresh and local. Some of the flavors that I love include lavender mascarpone, mango basil, and sweet corn. During the winter their hot chocolate is an amazing treat. They have a few different varieties that change daily all served with fresh vanilla bean whipped cream and house made marshmallows. Some of the hot chocolate varieties are white chocolate/lavender, chocolate/rose, chocolate/habanero, and white chocolate/green tea.

I've been wanting to try Bent Spoon for the longest time so I'm glad I finally made it here. We came around 8:30 PM on a Saturday night in November, and there was a line of about 10 people. We had time to survey the flavors - it's important to read the descriptions since the names alone didn't fully describe the flavors. Some of the more interesting ones were Wild Turkey (sea salt caramel with bourbon), sour cream, dark chocolate sorbet, blood orange, pumpkin marscapone, etc. I had a small ($4.50) ice cream of Brown Clove and Chocolate Earl Grey (the scoops were quite large). Every ingredient came through without overpowering or competing with the other flavors. I really enjoyed the smooth texture and flavors of the ice cream. Everyone working was very friendly and patient (the group in front of us tasted nearly every flavor!). Nonetheless, for $4.50, it is definitely more of a special occasion treat.

My boyfriend and I walked in on a cold, snowy day and this place was packed. The guy behind the counter was very cheerful and friendly, and he was happy to give us samples of the ice creams. I got the dark chocolate and my boyfriend got heady spruce. I didn't really like the taste of his, but he loved it. I enjoyed my dark chocolate--it wasn't very sweet. Even so, the ice cream was so creamy and rich that I couldn't even finish one scoop. The seating is a little cramped, and the tables are wobbly. The reason I gave it 3 stars instead of 4 because of the price--it's quite expensive compared to other ice cream shops on the same level (in my opinion).

This place is almost for everyone!!! Many different flavored of ice cream and sorbets that can't find elsewhere. Worth to try and will go back!

This place has the most amazing gelato that I could eat everyday for every meal. My favorite flavors are basil, sweet jersey corn, pumpkin, and anise seed. They always have unique flavors every time I go there, and they're always good. The chocolate (sorbet or gelato), mango, and raspberry are the more classic ones that I love. I haven't tried any of their other food besides the gelato. The gelato isn't overly sweet (it's just perfect!), and it's always full of flavor- I like that you can really taste whatever the flavor is without being overwhelmed by creaminess--it doesn't make you feel disgusting afterwards even if you eat 4 scoops of it. :) It's a small place that usually has a line that goes several feet out the door, but no matter how crowded it is, everyone who works there is always super nice, really patient, and willing to let you try as many samples as you want. It only seats about 8 people, which is unfortunate because it's a very cutely decorated place that would be a nice place to sit and eat gelato with your friends. It's also not a big deal because Princeton is a nice area to walk around in, and also has lots of benches to sit and eat if you want to. They give you pretty small quantities for the amount you pay, but it's still worth it. I think they actually give you the perfect portion- just enough so you're satisfied. I've been to all the other ice cream places in Princeton, and while the others are good, I'd choose Bent Spoon every time. (Though that may be a little unfair because Bent spoon isn't technically ice cream.)

  • Samantha G.

I don't see what the shouting is about with this ice creamery. Yes, they have unusual flavors but their execution is poor. They opened as a gelato place but then quickly changed, probably after customers informed them that their ice cream wasn't gelato. While their flavors are adventurous in the vein of Jeni's Ice Cream, I've never had ice cream from them that didn't have ice crystals in it. Stick with Thomas Sweet, whose former owner Tom Grimm trained with Steve Herrell, of Steve's Ice cream fame, along with Ben & Jerry.

  • Jessica B.

As a student at Princeton, I can definitely say that The Bent Spoon offers the best ice cream around. My absolute favorite flavors are the sea salt caramel, hazelnut and dark chocolate. If you are feeling adventurous, get a cookie a la mode! Pretty much everything at The Bent Spoon from the cookies to the hot chocolate to the ice cream is delicious. Just be aware that you have to pay cash, but this place is definitely worth the extra trip to the ATM.

There isn't much for me to say about this place besides that I have a slight obsession with it. just the most delicious flavors of ice cream, but in my opinion it's more like a gelato. All NJ locally sourced and interesting ingredients, such as sweet jersey corn, kale, or rhubarb. It's pricier than your average ice cream, but get over it, it's worth it.

  • Abby C.

I guess it's not really something you can fix, but it's so small! It could also use a little brightening up and fixing up inside. Aside from that, I got the lavender marscapone and strawberry earl grey ice cream and it was delicious. Melt-in-your-mouth (well, physically and also smooth and silky) and delectable. I love the mini spoons, too. It's such a cute, charming place and perfect after spending a summer day in Princeton.

  • Em K.

The Bent Spoon has some of the best ice cream in the world! My fiancé and I come here on a regular basis even though it's not close to us. The ingredients are fresh, local, and so creative. Their flavors are constantly changing depending on what ingredients are in season. This place is so popular that there is always a line outside the door; even in the dead of winter. Don't worry, it moves quickly. Be sure to also try their delicious hot chocolate!

    (5)
  • Heidi Y.

organic fresh sorbets and gelatos. I like to pop in and see what they have that day, get a scoop to go and walk around Princeton downtown while enjoying it. A little on the $$ side (~4.5 for a small). but each scoop packs big flavor and if you chip away at it, it can last you a while! I like the raspberry & mango sorbet. cant go wrong with those! Since they are fruit sorbets, they don't feel as heavy either. guilt free dessert (=

  • Judy W.

The ice-cream here is great! They have many interesting flavors such as coconut coffee and lavender marscapone if you're looking to try something new. Although I'm more of a froyo person, you can't get better than this ice-cream. For those who are vegan, they offer vegan sorbets that are just as great! They also offer pastries such as mini cupakes if you're looking for something that's not cold. Only con is that the shop is super tiny and that it's cash only. Glad I arrived just right before the line got super long! Will be coming back here when I'm in the area again!

  • C E.

Definitely the best ice cream I have ever had. Anything with marscapone or ricotta is our favorite expecially the blueberry marscapone. Also not hating on the fruit choices, very good as well. Caution that when the warm weather hits, the line can be out the door but it's worth it. Awesome how they use local ingredients and the menu changes every so often which I assume has to do the in season ingredients. If you are in princeton then you must try it! We lovrbit so much, we even had some fun engagement pictures taken here

The Bent Spoon is fantastic! I lived in Princeton for six months on a temporary job assignment and would frequent this place often. It's what I missed most about Princeton after moving back to DC. They always had interesting (and delicious) flavors to try. The inside of this place has a sort of Harry Potter-esque whimsical feeling to it which makes it all the more fun. Not to mention, all of the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. A must-try if you're ever in the Princeton area!

The sorbets and gelatos aren't bad. They have a lot of unique flavors, if you wanted to try something different. $4.50 for a small seems a bit expensive, but it's def worth giving a try.

Hands down the best ice cream I've ever had. Don't be scared of the sometimes unusual flavors. Every flavor I've tried so far is superb. You can tell the owner is a very personable, friendly and passionate individual. If you want high-quality, delicious ice cream this is the place to go to.

Bent Spoon offers amazing ice cream, cookies, and cupcakes. You just can't go wrong here. Case in point -- while visiting Princeton for 3 days, I somehow ended up visiting Bent Spoon 6 times. It's that DAYUM good. My favorite thing is the Croissant Ice Cream Sandwich -- both innovative and wonderfully tasty.

have raseberry and dark chocolate today! Raseberry is good, dark chocolate is rich but still a little too sweet if eat too much. Also visit Halo Pub today, his dark chocolate is also delicious and also rich. Both are good but I like Halo Pub a little bit more.

The Bent Spoon and I have been in love since we met in 2013. We have an open relationship - and love that other people love TBS as much as I do. The dark chocolate sorbet, mango sorbet, and coconut milk coffee sorbets are what stole my heart. I love The Bent Spoon! Thank you for all of the delicious vegan options!!!

Stopped off here after going apple picking at Terhune Orchards. It was an oddly hot day for the autumn season, so getting ice cream at The Bent Spoon was the perfect choice for a snack. When we got there the line was out the door, as usual, but the wait wasn't terribly long. They still had a lot of summer flavors like peach balm, raspberry, mango, bellini etc. I ended up with a small (2 flavors or two scoops of 1 flavor) and got raspberry and cinnamon. It was a great combination, the sweetness of the cinnamon and the tartness of the raspberry. You can even taste the crunch from the raspberry seeds and the flecks of cinnamon. What's the best part is that I didn't have that thirsty feeling like I usually do with overly sweet ice creams. The price is not cheap, but not overly expensive either. They also only take cash.

Great staff and excellent flavors! I had the Hazelnut with Chocolate Coconut and was happy with my choice. You can sample a few flavors then decide what you like best. The Earl Grey was also very good. Remember this establishment is cash only when you go. Will be back!

Ah. The Bent Spoon known for their artisan ice cream (gelato actually) and good ingredient bakery. It's a small place with virtually no seating. Lot's of workers in the open kitchen area preparing cupcakes and baked goods. I decided since I was in the area for business I needed to try their gelato. I had their pumpkin marscapone. It was good. A bit of a pumpkin kick but the marscapone wasn't noticeable. What was noticeable was their prices. A small cup (which they do load up) is nearly $5. Ouch. Was it worth it, jury is still out. For the "earth conscience", it's a good place to go. The gelato was of good quality but I am unsure if I would make the trek back (unless of course I was going to another business meeting).

Pros- -exceptional ice cream flavors -Alphonso mango is my all time fav -the large glass is cheapest with 4 scoops -natural fruit flavors -very similar to Indian naturals ice cream Cons -cash only -very crowded -long lines during summer Remember to ask for the members card if you plan to visit frequently

So I never get to review all the great places that are close to where i grew up and Bent Spoon is one of them - they have the best ice cream (although i favor the chocolate ice-cream of halo pub and thomas sweets has its own charm) try the seasonal flavors as they are great and they have an excellent hot chocolate as well!

This is the BEST ICE CREAM in the world. Princeton has some of the best ice cream shops, Halo Pub, Thomas Sweet, all fantastic. But the Bent Spoon, it is really the best of the best. I make sure I come here every time I visit Princeton. To the owner of Bent Spoon: If you every consider opening a shop in Silicon Valley, let me know, and I'll be happy to invest!

taste healthier than Halo pub since its more gelato like and probably contains little to no fat very delicious but also pricier than Halo Pub, depending on what u are in the mood for really

I love this ice cream place! I cannot have dairy, so I cannot have ice cream. At the bent spoon they offer a large selection of sorbets that are rich in flavor, and are dairy free! My favorite two sorbets are the coconut and chocolate. Thank you bent spoon for making no dairy that much easier!

    (5)
  • Jayme E.

Unfracking, unbelievably delicious ice cream! The flavors are original, imaginative and so delicious. Many of their ingredients are obtained locally and they label everything clearly so you know what have what in it, such as soy or nuts or organic or locally grown ingredients. Tonight we left with a bag of marshies (marshmallows) made with local honey, a milk chocolate hazelnut milk shake and a pint of cardamom ginger ice cream. I cannot wait to dig in!

Awesome place for earth-conscious artisanal flavors. My favorite is the coconut. I'm not a coconut person but I found bent spoon does it right. I also love love love the hot chocolate and homemade marshmallows. The baked goods are fine but I typically stick to the ice cream. If u live close they have punch cards to off set the price of their ice cream which is $5 for a small cup. The staff is friendly and helpful with suggestions. If you want something new and different, bent spoon is the place to go!

    (5)
  • Madison C.

Well worth the wait! I would give 4.5 stars. They have a good variety of flavored and the dark chocolate is amazingly intense dark chocolate. I got the boat ipa which is a deliciously tart grapefruit flavor and the coconut coffee sorbet which was also incredible. I would definitely come again and seriously recommend the dark chocolate for my chocolate lovers and the vanilla sea salt caramel. Don't be deterred by the line it goes by pretty quick, but this place is cash only!!

There are SO many ice cream shops in Princeton. As freshmen, we even had an orientation activity called the 'ice cream crawl' where we were given vouchers for all (most?) of the spots in Princeton and attempted to eat our way through them in one night... it was difficult, even for an ice cream lover with a bottomless "dessert stomach".... Anyway, of all the shops, I split 100% of my patronage between two: Bent Spoon and Halo Pub. If I'm just craving plain old chocolate (or some other basic flavor), I don't feel like forking out $5 when I love Halo's for $2. But otherwise, the Bent Spoon is truly the best - not just out of all the ice cream shops in Princeton but, like... anywhere. That I have ever tried. The variety of flavors is out of this world... some are quite wild but all are so delicious. My absolute favorite flavor is Coconut Sorbet (although it's creamy like an ice cream??? I'm confused. but anyway) - I'm not usually a coconut person, but this was the first Bent Spoon flavor I ever tasted and it was love at first... lick? The key is the texture, which is simply divine, but loses its novelty after one scoop (after one scoop it starts to taste pretty plain). So whenever I come, I always get Coconut + one other flavor for a small (I've been known to literally turn around and leave Bent Spoon if they happen to not be carrying Coconut...but they usually are, thank goodness!). Other favorites include Greek Yogurt, Earl Grey, Lavendar Mascarpone, and most of the fruit sorbets. I also love their cupcakes - I'm not really a cupcake person, too sweet and I generally hate frosting, but Bent Spoon's frosting is just right. They also look so pretty! Their hot chocolate is not really my thing, actually a little too rich for me, but most people rave about it. Bent Spoon ice cream is my favorite nice-weather treat. If you're in Princeton, you MUST visit.

We came here last week following a brunch in Princeton, and it definitely lived up to the hype! The staff is pleasant and helpful, and we tasted a bunch of different flavors before settling on blood orange sorbet, blood orange mascarpone, passion ice cream, and raspberry lemon sorbet in a large sized serving. My favorite was the passion which my husband picked, so I definitely recommend that as it was our favorite, but they were all really good! We also picked up a dozen cookies for a barbecue we were attending, and they were a huge hit - they're huge cookies, and they come in many kinds including chocolate fudge and peanut butter and sugar lemon. Definitely planning to revisit this place again for more of its treats!

A bit too sweet for my taste, The service was fantastic, the place was adorably cute, but compared to others I've had and given the loaded, and I really mean way overloaded amount of sugar, while it could be a great place for others, I had to give up on my ice cream before it was done.

The Bent Spoon was one of my favorite haunts in college, and now that I've been out for a few years, its still the best ice cream I've ever had. What really sets them apart is the fresh and seasonal ingredients they use in their ice cream. The mint flavor will really taste like a chock full of freshly picked mint; earl grey will feel like you have the steaming cup of tea in front of you. Every flavor is packed with such intensity that mirrors exactly the taste of the ingredients. More than half their flavors rotate on a season if not weekly or even daily basis, which adds to the fun of it all. I always try to get a different flavor each time I go. They even have some pretty crazy out there flavors that they actually manage to make taste good ("asparagus in ice cream?!") If you're not feeling particularly adventurous, however, there are always staples that never fail. Their dark chocolate is rich and absolutely heavenly, and blood orange is always a hit. Often overlooked, their baked goods are AMAZING too! Especially their cupcakes. A little pricey for a cupcake, but if you savor every little crumb and piece of frosting like I do, then it'll be worth it. Don't let the line out the door scare you off -- if you are in the area, the Bent Spoon is a MUST visit destination.

Really neat little artisan ice cream shop. I had hazelnut, dark chocolate, and coffee coconut. The dark chocolate and hazelnut were great but I wouldn't get the coffee coconut again. Very dense ice cream comparable to gelato but not quite to gelato standards. It was very busy and pretty expensive. Staff was extremely friendly and they made the visit enjoyable. I will be back when I'm back in Princeton.

This place is definitely one-of-a-kind. They have some of the most creative and delicious ice cream flavors, from fresh ricotta, to lavender, to chocolate hazelnut. I stopped by last night and grabbed a cup of habanero hot chocolate topped with whipped cream and vanilla honey marshmallows.. BEST HOT CHOCOLATE I HAVE EVER HAD. Rich, creamy, and absolutely amazing. My boyfriend got their eggnog ice cream which was equally fantastic. The place is a whimsical little hole in the wall and their staff is awesome. Can't wait to go back!

Have been here several times over the last 4-5 years and sadly I'm only getting around to reviewing it now that I've moved to the West Coast. Sure, the prices are higher, but you're getting bursts of intense flavor in intriguing variations like strawberry mascarpone, honey, and lemon hops. Even my mother-in-law, who has an anti-sweet tooth, liked her raspberry and vanilla combination. It's the perfect treat to pick up and enjoy while sitting in Palmer Square. Personal favorites include blueberry (seasonal), mango, passion, and vanilla sea salt caramel. I usually get a medium (3 scoops) which is $5 compared to $4.50 for the small (2 scoops) and share with hubby (aka I get 2/3 and he gets 1/3 =P) Don't forget, it's cash only!

No trip to Princeton is complete without a trip to Bent Spoon. While what first captured my interest was their Wild Turkey Bourbon Sea Salt Caramel Vanilla, even their simplest flavors are to die for. Some of my favorites have been the sweet corn, basil, brown sugar, egg nog, and anything they do with beer or bourbon is always spectacular. Be sure to stalk their twitter and drool over their daily flavor tweets. Don't miss their hot chocolate or cider. Both are world class. The habanero hot chocolate is thick, rich, dark, and not for the faint of heart, but something I never pass up. The service is fast and friendly and I love the punch card system. Love love love this place. :)

The Bent Spoon has a menu that was designed by a pregnant woman (that's how my pregnant wife describes it). They have flavors like "Old Bay Sweet Corn," "Avocado," and "Basil." The flavors taste exactly as their sound, which is strange. I can appreciate the artsy fartsy icecream here, but I rather go to Halo Pub for some spectacular normal ice cream.

  • Lesley C.

This place is phenomenal. One of the best gelatos you'll ever have. Unfortunately, it's super, super expensive, BUT a must-try at least once. I had the hazelnut and chocolate, and it was SO good- it tasted like cold nutella. I went here in a group of 6 and everyone was head over heels for the gelato. Definitely try it if you're in the area.

It is not hard to find ice cream in Princeton, but The Bent Spoon is by far the best around. You will find unique, seasonal flavors here such as blueberry mascarpone, sweet corn, peach sriracha, ricotta pistachio, chocolate habanero and mango, plum, and raspberry sorbet. The Bent Spoon prides itself on using local and organic ingredients. Inside the shop is small..no more than 5-7 people can sit comfortably. I prefer taking my ice cream and eating on a nearby bench in Palmer Square. When ordering a small ice cream, you have the option of getting 2 flavors. A small costs $4.50. Also available at The Bent Spoon are cupcakes, shakes and sometimes they even brew their own kombucha. Don't let the line outside scare you..it moves fast and the ice cream is worth the wait.

Can't stop thinking about the combo I got last week.. Blueberry mascarpone & Lavender mascarpone. Both flavors I don't normally like. Both marvelous. A good mix of tart and a subtle sweetness. yelp.com/biz_photos/y0xT… Also amazing: Cashew ginger Worthy of a mention: Mint nib, Coconut w/ berries & blood orange, Blueberry canteloupe Sub-par: Vanilla bean (too sweet & artificial), Cookies n cream. Funnily enough vanilla bean and cookies n cream are generally my favorite ice cream flavors. Also take note: CASH ONLY!! Although they did have these sub-par flavors, their good ones more than make up. After all, they were totally awesome about me sampling a million flavors!

Great ice cream, great cupcakes. They will nicely split the two scoop minimum if you have kids. don't be daunted by the long line, it moves quickly.

Is anybody old enough to remember when Uri Geller bent spoons on the Tonight Show and the Merv Griffin Show? Was he a real paranormalist or just a well-paid magician? It was quite a weird sight to see that spoon bend. But this bent spoon is the real thing, a compact sweets shop perfectly targeted to the Princeton student set on the western side of Palmer Square. It was buzzing with students looking to satisfy sweet tooths (or is it teeth?) late in the evening. Ah, I remember those urges back in Berkeley during the Stone Age and going over to Yogurt Park for the same reason. The specialties here appear to be some rich, far-flung "artisanal" ice cream flavors like Sicilian blood orange and Turkish coffee, as well as their cupcakes. After a full meal of sushi at Mo C Mo C - I barely had room for a $1.25 Peanut Butter Mini-Cupcake. Pretty good except the frosting was way too sugar-heavy for this chiffon-curdled Californian. CUPCAKES - 3 stars...fit for a sweet tooth but awfully heavy on the sugar in the frosting and somewhat pricey for a student's budget AMBIANCE - 3 stars...compact and clean...what else would a student want? SERVICE - 3 stars...just order at the counter TOTAL - 3 stars...you can do it, Uri...come on!

One of the best ice cream places in NJ! They don't have a lot of flavors, but they are always changing by what's in season. There's usually a line, but it's worth the wait. The place is also really small, so you just can't fit that many people inside at once. The servers are super friendly & don't get annoyed when you want to to try everything. Last time I went I got a medium which is 3 scoops. It's definitely worth the 50 cents to get a medium instead of a small. I had fresh ricotta, dark chocolate orange, & Turkish coffee w/ cardamom. (They do have a thing for cardamom here.) They were all wonderful. Everything was very full flavored, rich, & silky. Their portions are smaller, but the ice cream is not very airy & is similar to a gelato, so you don't need that much of it to feel satisfied. Hubs got vanilla, which was also tasty. Their sorbets are also very good. Nectarine is awesome, since they are in season right now. The lemon-basil reminded me of a mojito. I'm excited to go back for some great fall flavors soon!

Had it for the first time at the Italian restaurant Eno Terra and it completely blew my mind. The hazelnut and ricotta cheese flavors were divine!!! I had dreams about them that night and decided to go to the actual store to try more flavors. We went to the store today but sadly they didn't have the flavors we had the other day. Instead, we had basil, vanilla, sweet corn, and chocolate. All were quite good but not amazing, Hopefully next time I check it out they will have the hazelnut and ricotta cheese. P.S. Portions are generous so a small or a medium should fill two ppl up. We made the mistake of getting a large and ended up quite stuffed.

It takes a lot of willpower to not go here more often. The quality of the ice cream is good, but more notably, the flavors are always unique. Some of my favorites include lavender marscapone, hazelnut, and vanilla salted caramel. If you're a hot chocolate lover, this is a great place on a cold winter day. While I love the classic hot chocolate, I can only drink a little bit because it is so rich. But fun tip, take a few sips and save the rest in the refrigerator and you'll find yourself a delicious chocolate mousse-like surprise!

This is quite a surprise that this place has better review than either the halo or Thomas. I have been to this place a couple of times, but I was always disappointed. I don't mean they are not tasty. It's just that the ice cream in bent spoon is not as good as either Thomas or Halo, especially considering bent spoon is more expensive. That's why, for the time I was in Princeton, I barely went here whereas I went to either Thomas or Halo regularly. Maybe it's about being experimental or conservative, and I hate to be experimental in terms of ice cream. Now, next time I go back to the town of Princes, I will have to try this place again either to take back what I said here or to confirm my disappointment.

It can be really good, just try a flavor if your not sure some of the ingredients can do unintended things to your senses. Or you could just be adventurous.

What could I say that hasn't already been said? Go. go again and again. Pistachio is phenomenal. Boubon salt caramel is another great. "the spoon" as my bf and I call it is a treasure. Nothing compares to the spoon.

This little tiny, stuffy ice cream shop makes the best ice cream I've ever had. Yes, there are some places that offer more flavors, or have more creamy ice cream or will blend in Twizzlers or whatever, but for truly delicious and unusual ice cream or sorbet this place cannot be beat. I highly recommend the dark chocolate, but to be honest I have not had a flavor here I did not like. You will wait in line year round (even in the dead of winter), and there is a reason for this.

Kale and Kumquat ice cream... Dark Chocolate sorbet... Lemon Mascarpone ice cream ...I shoulda tried the Ginger Ginger Snap too. While I prefer the edginess of my hometown Slocombe, this place is wonderful

  • Kelley D.

The ice cream and sorbets here are phenomenal. The flavors are so authentic and the texture is perfectly creamy and thick. They rotate their offerings based on local and seasonal ingredients. When we went, the strawberry mascarpone, hazelnut chocolate, and mango sorbet were stellar. I'm only deducting one star because this is a cash only establishment. There is a PNC ATM a short walk away but a bit frustrating for first timers. Be sure to bring cash!

Sometimes it's okay to have ice cream or sorbet at 10AM. Having Bourbon Carmel ice cream and Cranberry-Apple Pear sorbet few Sunday's ago at the New Amsterdam Market was the perfect example. I had a crazy assortment of wonderful treats and it was 10AM. Bent spoon is that good. Why don't you try having some in the morning and see how amazing it can be.

The Bent Spoon is an unbelievable ice cream/gelato place that you've got to experience for yourself if you're in the area. It's a hidden gem in Princeton that offers a wide variety of flavors. The shops prides themselves on creating unique flavors which most people have not tried before such as Pistachio, Basil, Hazelnut, and Cardmom Ginger. It's a little expensive since its ice cream ($4-5) for a few scoops, but it's well worth it. If I lived closed to Princeton, I would certainly be a regular here and The Bent Spoon would have my wallet. This place is amazing!

Saw person after person with a big smile and a scoop of ice cream or gelato on a 40F day. We were on our way to brunch so in my head I was making a note already to drop by after brunch. Kudos to the innovative flavors. Not the place if you prefer traditional flavors. Got the honey bee (a bit salty which I like) and the chocolate love. Tasted my friend's lavender which I thought was pretty decent though it reminded me a little bit my lotion. Will definitely try and come back again.

Chocolate and melon together? Yes indeed. Everyone's eating here. It's the thing to do. Bring cash though. No one in Princeton has heard of these new fangled credit card things.

Before visiting Princeton, I had heard lots of great things about this ice cream shop. This place has lots of fresh flavors and a variety of choices for people to get. Their ice cream shop is quite homey and has cute signs for their ice cream. Oh and the ice cream? it was gooooooooooood. (However, I still think Ici from Berkeley has the best ice cream ever, partly because of their homemade cone. :P) Nonetheless this is an awesome place to go to if you're visiting in the area!

Just visited and it was wonderful. Between the three of us we tried 9 different flavors and all of them were awesome. Loved the vibe and it was nice to see it was an open kitchen in the back. Definitely wish they had something like this is Florida.

Great place where most of their icecreams are made from organically sourced fruits. Loved the Nectarine, Mango, Blueberry Mascarpone, and the Fresh Mint Ice cream. Slightly pricey for icecreams but it was well worth it. Would love to go back and try other flavors. And did i mention.. They have Chocolate Habanero as well.. Wonder how that would taste!!

The finest cupcakes I've ever had. Better than Magnolia, better than Buttercup Bakery. The place is very small, so I tend to get things to-go. Wish they'd take debit cards.

I love all the local and organic recipes, as well as quirky flavors! My favorites are the mango sorbet, raspberry sorbet, and dark chocolate ice cream. Their other products are also superb, such as the cupcakes, marshmallows, and hot cocoa. Definitely my favorite ice cream spot in Princeton!

The best hot chocolate? I tried it and it may be true.. very, very good. Just took a sip of a friends.. not drinking that.. : ) Mini cupcakes had a firm texture and homemade flavor.. so did the chocolate and vanilla icing. They wisely don't use hydrogenated shortening in the icing.. I asked.. Fun place.

Awefully wonderful ice cream served here. I came based on tripadvisor review. It is the top 1 rated restaurant on tripadvisor. A small but lovely shop that offers quite a delight of enjoying assorted fruity sorbets and creamy scoops. Reasonably priced and friendly staff. Many fresh flavor combinations I have not tried before and each of them was amazingly tasty.

  • Agnes M.

Their ice cream is so delicious. The different varieties taste so intensive. For example the raspberry ice cream tastes like you eat fresh raspberries. I like that they always offer something new to try. They also offer different flavors of organic ice cream. I love ice cream :-)

My friend took me here last night. There was a line out the door and my first thought was...... Why the hell am I waiting in line for gelato!? My friend recommended the hazelnut and blood orange flavors. Let me tell you right now, I'm gonna be dreaming about that hazelnut gelato in Las Vegas. I'm gonna go out of my way every time I come to jersey to come here for that damn hazelnut gelato.

There's a reason why people are willing to wait in a line that forms outside the door, and squeeze into the ice cream haven known as the bent spoon: the ice cream is phenomenal. Not only is this ice cream smooth, rich, and of the perfect consistency, the flavors are unique, exotic, intriguing, and ingenious all at once. They regularly change their flavors and each time I stumble across of their new concoctions I, and my tastebuds, are absolutely blown away. I am a number one fan of the lavender mascarpone but all of their flavors are wonderfully interesting. If you have some loose cash (cash only) this place is definitely worth visiting - and once you try this place out you'll soon be a regular.

I'd give them 5 for quality and taste, but it really upsets me that I HAVE to buy two scoops for $4.50. I can never have two scoops, so I can never go there unless I'm with someone who can share it with me. They should offer a one-scoop option, even if they charge a bit of a premium for it ($2.50?). Find myself going to Halo Pub a lot instead, which is far cheaper and also offers HALF scoops. !

  • Melinda C.

Is it possible for ice cream and sorbet (or anything for that matter) to have more flavor than the ingredients they were made with?! The flavors in the sorbets I tried (raspberry and mango) were so strong it really tasted like the sorbet had simply been made by throwing a bunch of frozen fruit into a blender. It didn't seem like anything that would dilute the flavor had been added at all. (I also tried the peanut butter flavor. It was definitely made with lots of peanuts!) After my friend noticed the cash only sign at the door, she tried to convince me to go to a yogurt shop near the bank instead, since it had a much smaller line. Good thing I was set on using the money I had just withdrew to actually go to The Bent Spoon, as we would have been missing out! I also love that the cost of the medium size was $5.00 even. Keep the coins away!

The main reason this place is only two stars for me is because I was expecting a lot and I was let down. The store is small and seems to be crowded at all times of the day. You get to try any ice cream you want which is great, but I felt crammed the entire time I was there. We got a small cup with Hazlenut and Romano which were fine, but I have had MUCH better ice cream and gelato. I do not see why this place is written up in magazines and journals when you have better places all over NJ. They can have some cool flavors, like sweet basil when we were there, but it wasn't very good. I would gladly take some homemade chocolate ice cream from somewhere else over this place. Not worth visiting if you are in Princeton.

I'm not really into fancy and expensive restaurants that fills this little town, but Bent Spoon is one of the greatest things about Princeton. In the corner of Palmer Square, this place serves delicious ice cream that's worth every cent. It's not cheap but everything is consistently good--makes this little local business joint the place to get a treat for celebration or a pick-me-up when you're feeling down. I always have a hard time deciding because everything looks so good. I highly recommend the summer seasonal olive oil ice cream with a pinch of sea salt. I've also tried more of the delicate flavors like earl grey or ginger and feel refreshing effect along with the perfect balance of flavor. Basil lemon is also very refreshing. All of their ice cream have a smooth creamy texture. Huge range from favorite classic to fruit flavored sorbet--all of them unique. If you're not feeling adventurous, then ask to try a sample. The unique flavors is what sets this ice cream place apart from the other small shops in Princeton. You'll definitely find something that's going to satisfy and make your day brighter.

Unique, creative flavors, made with fun ingredients (including alcohol, in some flavors!). For example, their coffee ice cream had roasted coffee bean nibs in it for added flavor and crunch, rather than adding oreos or chocolate chips. Sample without guilt, and then treat yourself to some frozen dreaminess. My mom, who (not hating on her, love my mom!) thinks Grand Lux Cafe is the epitome of creative cooking, even liked it! I also felt good supporting a small, local business. Oh, and if you see a pretzel flavored caramel candy that's like 75 cents or a dollar, made by a candy company from Brooklyn, get it. It's like heaven in your mouth. I have to say that I am a fan of Thomas Sweet and was going to head there, but saw this place and tried it as an alternative. From now on, I will go to TS when in New Brunswick, but Bent Spoon when in Princeton.

I just went today with my teo dogs I walked them around Princeton. And I also went back again with my friend who I later picked up from the train station. I have seen the line that gets so long is protrudes out of the door like three years ago but I never waited because I find the customers to be rude and stuck up like if you dont bow down and be extra nice you're written off like they may dress in preppy clothing but they are wolves in sheeps clothing. For example, just today I was waiting cause I finally said I need to try this place why not screw my diet. And there were a group of girls chatting about celebrity news like how Joan Rivers died blah blah condolensces. Then the couple in the back of them but in front of me betched about the girls when the girls went inside (cause the line was so long it went out the door). This couple proceeded to say "freshmen. gawd." OK i definitely have my moments so i try not to critisize others plus what others say on their own time is clearly none of my business and i have no say in judging other people conversations especially if it doesnt involve me. so ya the customers are rude this guy with six ice creams ordered he just cut in front of me even though he let the couple cut in front of him. so i was like ok if this guys in a hurry go ahead but he wasnt even. after i paid he was still there stalling. BUT BUT BUT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE ITSELF IS SUPERB. I avoid going out in public by myself just because i cant stand 90% of the judgmental a**holes. however the people BEHIND the counter couldnt have put a more effort into making quick, efficient and friendly service! The guy asked me what i wanted after he was finished with his customer and i told him the clementine and the plum apricot and he even asked me what size ( I didnt even realize there were size differences ). And I paid in $50 yes its cash at these shops and the cashier was so amazing and was so upbeat & friendly. He made a gregarious effort in finding me the correct change but the thing was I couldnt wait to bounce out of there! Not because of the shop but just those judgmental customers and the two indian girls who kept pushing my bag and even tried to squeeze me out of the line cause they thought since i was by myself it would be easier to push me aside (no honey I've waited in too many club lines in college to know that trick). The clemetine flavor was BOMB wasnt quite feeling the plum apricot it was too sour and the service was good. my ice cream totalled out to be $4 and some change. I gave my puppies the rest of the plum apricot they made a face too cause it was a bit tart but they scarfed it down anyway so good thing it didnt go to waste! get the plum apricot id you enjoy sour sorbets. But I preferred clementine cause it was refreshing and sweet

If you're ever in the Princeton area, you have to try out The Bent Spoon. The flavors are imaginative and nicely varied (I'm not a fruity ice cream sort of gal, so I avoided the blood orange while others may have come just for that). I got a small of vanilla sea salt caramel, which was absolutely amazing, and dark chocolate sorbet. If it was a little cheaper and closer to home, I would go here all the time.

Princeton has an absurdly high number of ice cream shops for such a little town. But Bent Spoon definitely holds its ground at the top of that list. This place uses fresh, local ingredients. They often have a couple odd flavors that are fun to try. It seems like they serve small portions, but they're packed with flavor. You eat with a little tiny spoon so you can savor every last bite. If you're in town, you have to make a pilgrimage to Bent Spoon.

So good it makes me want to turn into a fat kid. Bent spoon is one of the few places that solely serves junk food but is worth stopping for even if they have no other business in Princeton. There are 2 main things they sell here: gelato/sorbet and cupcakes, I will handle each individually. Gelato/Sorbet - It's really quite good. High quality and tasty for the most part. I say for the most part because this place makes some pretty weird flavors . . . and they're not only 'weird good' but often 'weird bad'. This doesn't really detract from the experience as they are quite liberal with the tasting samples. You're gonna wanna take advantage of that when you go. Some of the flavors are wacky, but many hit their mark nicely. Cupcakes - by contrast the cupcakes are always l phenomenal. This is the part that will make you want to give up on fitness and resign yourself to the fat life. The first time I had them they made me weak in the knees, they are THAT GOOD. Another product many people don't appreciate are their homemade salted caramels. They are individually sold and really excellent.

Best ice cream I have EVER had. They should really think about expanding, cause we could use one of these in New Haven! Had the sour cream and hazelnut. Best recommendation I have ever received!

So many different flavors! I had a scoop of the sweet corn and a scoop of basil. Wow! I wasn't sure what to expect at first, but I was blown away! Also, I liked how they tasted together. I can't wait to go back and try more flavors!

the unique flavors definitely make this place worth a visit. i had two scoops of "chocolate earl grey" and one scoop of "honey," so it was basically like a freezing cup of tea--weird!

Okay, I'm from San Diego and I LOVE this place!! Whenever I visit New Jersey getting ice cream at The Bent Spoon is always on my to-do list (even when there's a polar vortex and its below freezing)! The flavors I've had so far are chocolate earl grey, mint chocolate, banana, and dad's hat rye whiskey caramel. If I had to pick a favorite, I wouldn't be able to choose just one; all their flavors are ah-may-zing. Their ice cream is seriously worth every penny (and the 30 minute wait if you're there in the summer time haha)!

  • Bari M.

Just had a delicious small delight - small is plenty - two scoops of rich, real flavor. One scoop of coconut coffee and one scoop of raspberry chunk. To add to the decadence, I topped it with sea salt caramel sauce. I would go back just for that gooey, salty caramel. I would typically snap a pic, but no time - nom nom!

Amazingly good! Had the mango and organic raspberry which tasted fresh and delicious. Also tried Friend's cookies and cream and it was one of the best I've ever tasted! Will definitely be back.. Especially since I got a punch card. I'm invested now! Cash only. Only thing is, $4 is a pretty hefty price for two small scoops. Once in a while treat.

When we came back for the bonfire, we made a beeline straight for bent spoon. I absolutely adore this place. You really can't go wrong with anything - innovative flavors, fresh ingredients. Some of my favorite flavors include coconut sorbet, earl grey, ginger, nj honey, mango sorbet, green tea (but without the white chocolate chunks)..I could go on and on..Some of their flavors can rival the gelato I had in Rome! Aside from the ice cream, the cupcakes are amazing, the hot chocolate is super thick. The workers are really friendly. The lines can get pretty long, but it moves fast. Inside seats about 10 people. And don't forget to bring moolah cause it's cash only! I'm drooling just thinking about this place..

We have some of the best gelato I've ever had (yes, compared to gelato in Italy) in Seattle, so maybe I'm a little biased. In any case, I know good from average from disappointing gelato. PROS: 1. Unique flavors. They have random fusion flavors which are creative and sometimes tasty, if not traditional. 2. They do gelato malts, which is also interesting and different, though not traditional. CONS: 1. The texture was off. The gelato here was a bit runny and/or chunky. It wasn't the smooth, creamy, air whipped stuff that makes up good gelato. 2. Prices are way too steep. I guess if you're in a trapped environment of a college town, you can charge whatever you want. 3. My malt was way too malty. Like, I get that it's a malt, so I'm glad the kid behind the counter was generous. But I was getting spoonfuls of dusty malt powder. It wasn't blended very well and it was way too thick. I like the idea of the Bent Spoon, but it was a little too non-traditional for me. Maybe that's what this place is supposed to be. A little crooked. A little bent.

I had VERY high hopes for this place after reading about it in Edible Jersey magazine. I'm from Sussex county... But I made the trip to Princeton ( 2 hours) WITH my dog..who loves ice cream.. And I also had my sister,my nephew and my Mom and Dad meet us there ( they live in the area). The flavors were exciting.. Except too much use of cardamom.( it was in 2-3 of the flavors) the texture was pretty good. Smooth and creamy but not that silky thick sweetness you would get at say, a farm that makes its own ice cream..the reason for the two stars? The customer service. I ordered 45$ worth of ice cream..and I asked if they could just put half of the amount of a small in a cup for my dog..I would be glad to pay for half of a small. The girl behind the counter told me she could give me half a serving, BUT I would have to pay for a full small. I said OK but I left feeling ripped off. I'll give the bent spoon the same advice I give my single girlfriends... If your going to be high maintenance.. You better have something great to offer to balance that. The bent spoon, not so much. I've had better ice cream at my local dairies..and better customer service at Dairy Queen.

Either you like this place or you're that person who gets vanilla ice cream every time. Do you like quirky fun flavors? Then this is a "must visit" in Princeton. Be prepared to wait in a long line because it's that good.

Probably the best ice cream I've ever had. Don't be fooled by just the one shop - you'll find Bent Spoon ice cream on the dessert menu of numerous restaurants in the Princeton area. But you have to visit the real deal right in Palmer Square - every time I go there are new flavors to try. Also, be sure to try out the banana whip and the hot cocoa sometime.

I've eaten a LOT of ice cream in my life, and the Bent Spoon is definitely my favorite. With so many rotating flavors, you'll rarely get the same flavors twice. My standbys are pistachio and coconut sorbet. Other favorites include Greek yogurt with candied walnuts (drizzled with honey when you order), roasted cashew, lavender mascarpone, carrot cake, and most recently, summery scoops of sweet basil paired with sweet corn. You can also get one scoop inside a mini croissant for an ice cream sandwich. In the winter, I always go for the heavenly hot chocolate. It's so thick and rich (but not overly sweet) I can barely finish a small. The habanero version is more watery, with a spicy kick... Perfect for warming up. And the baked goods. Love the cupcakes, which are infinitely better than House of Cupcakes. Buttery vanilla and chocolate topped with buttercream, the mini size is awesome for parties, study breaks, etc. The staff is always super friendly, making jokes and patiently giving out a ton of samples. Unfortunately the prices have gone up in the last couple years (from $3.75 to 4.50 for a small), which hasn't been kind to my college-student budget. But it's always been worth the splurge. They'll split the 2-scoop smells into 2 cups, so it's perfect to split with a friend for a cheaper, smaller snack! Cash only, and if you're going to make many return trips (which you'll want to) grab a punchcard.

Best ice cream I've had yet. Over the summer I made the trip to Princeton and got the sea salt caramel ice cream which was delicious. Yesterday I tried the dark chocolate and it was also amazing. The place is super small, very limited seating, and the lines get pretty long, but its totally worth it. I'll definitely be coming back.

Staple since I moved to Princeton a year ago...even in the dead cold of winter, there's a line for Bent Spoon. Great variety of flavors but they change it up so it is different each time I go. My favorites include: blood orange, fresh mint nib, chocolate earl grey, and honey They validate for parking in the lots on Hullfish and Chambers. Don't forget to grab a punch card and take your time tasting the unique flavors!

This is not just another ice cream shop. This is unique high quality Artisan ice cream. Where else can you get small batch ice cream with ingredients like in-season organic fresh fruit? Sorbet and cup cakes are good too. The owners are Brilliant. They know the Princeton market. Like Small World, this place defines down town Princeton.

Attention pistachio fans! Attention, I say! The Bent Spoon makes a really great pistachio ice cream: Super-creamy, handmade deliciousness that is both sweet and salty and packed with roasted pistachios. My other favorite flavor of the day was their Chocolate Habanero. I know that you can't throw a double D battery these days without hitting a chile-pepper-in-chocolate concoction, but I tell you this scoop was exemplary. It could be the little ice cream poster child of why I like that combination. Of course there were no little bits of habanero throughout the dark, velvety (srsly tho), rich chocolate ice cream; it was more like the fruity essence of the chile, with a late hit of the famous heat, that gets you at the back of ya troat. Tasted a little cinnamon in there too. I loved it. Four bones for a small gets you two little scoops of excellent quality, all natural, homemade ice cream. "Only 75 cents more, the next size up for three." My husband pointed this out to me as we waited on line in the tiny place. I should have heeded his recommendation. Not that the small is somehow an inadequate amount of ice cream. I didn't neeed more. But need and want are two different things, you know. Also, I kept thinking about that little taste of Bent Spoon's Cardamom Ginger...and wondering... should I have chosen you?

The best ice cream I've ever had in my life...so far. A little bit goes a long way. Try dark chocolate. Or coconut sorbet. Mmmm. I love the rich flavors they produce. Basil actually tastes like basil. Coconut tastes like coconut. Instead of just overloading their ice cream with sugar and cream, you really feel the flavors. They've ruined me for all other ice cream joints!

Simply amazing! The ice cream flavors are out of this world and there cupcakes are to delicious for words.

  • Carlin Y.

Great flavors. Kinda expensive -- $4.50 for a tiny cup of two scoops -- but they price it strategically so it makes a whole lotta sense to get the medium or large instead. Worth trying for some really radical flavors; we tried the peach rose beer gelato and the blood orange sorbet, and they were great on a hot summer day. The sorbet was smooth and refreshing, and the gelato has great consistency and rich flavor that mixed well even with the sorbet. Will definitely try it again if I'm in the area. Maybe a shake this time...

If I could give this place more than 5*, I would. I lived in Princeton 5 years ago and bent spoon had recently opened. As a student, forking over $4 for a little cup of ice cream was definitely a luxury, but oh, what luxury! Locally-sourced ingredients all blended together to create magic. Flavours change daily and lines are usually out the door and down the street. The staff allow you to try as many samples as you wish and are really really nice about it! I don't have anything new to say from the other hundreds of reviews. Just try it. Blood orange sorbet = party in the mouth. Dark chocolate sorbet tastes like creamy ice cream. How do they get it that creamy???? The cookies are divine, the cupcakes are fantastic, the hot chocolate is deadly. I just returned home from Princeton and I miss bent spoon already. Till next time....

There's nothing to say about this place that hasn't been excitedly said before, but it bears repeating: this place is the real deal. It's the best ever - its precisely what you think of when you are told something is "gourmet" or "artisanal" (these words get used a LOT lately, and I try to not use them, but that's exactly what this place is, they're perfect) Now for the part many people may not know: they have a lot of vegan selections. Their sorbet is the bee's knees times infinity. It's. so. good. They have a perfect dark chocolate sorbet that tastes like ice cream mouse, and they make flavors like blueberry-blackberry, and coconut with coconut milk. They also have banana whip! I highly recommend getting mixed flavors because some of the combined flavors are mind blowing and genius. I find Princeton to be lacking in veg options but they surprised me with some of the best vegan desserts ever!

...and the award for most creative flavors goes to....THE BENT SPOON!!! This places holds a special spot in my heart. Every time I enter Bent Spoon, i am automatically transformed to my 5-year-old sweet-tooth self. What new flavors do they have today?..Organic Coconut? sea salt caramel? chocolate earl grey? blood orange? How will I choose 2 out of all of these tantalizing choices? Luckily they allow you to sample. I have definitely used/abuse my sampling privileges. You can get 2 flavors for the small size which amounts to a generous scoop of each flavor. Very economical as well at $4. The flavors are always true to their descriptions. No watered down business here. Each ingredient is quite distinct and recognizable. I'm going to hold a blind-folded bent spoon tasting party one day. Never got around to trying their cookies or cupcakes. I'm usually too fixated on the ice cream/sorbet flavors. Also, remember to bring cash and punch your stamp card.

You know when they say that if there is a line in front of a store, there has to be something good about it? Well there almost always is a line in front of Bent Spoon and for good reason. I go to Bent Spoon almost every time I am in the Princeton area visiting and all other ice cream, gelato, frozen yogurt places just do not seem quite the same anymore. The variety of flavors and specialty flavors that they have are always really good and of course I have some of my favorites. Last time I was there I had the earl grey (best way to have tea in my opinion). Be sure to try a small sample of a few before you make your decision, but no matter what you select, you will not be disappointed. I am definitely looking forward to going back and trying some new flavors!

AMAZING ice cream and sorbet flavors which are inspired by regional seasonality. Unique combinations like dark chocolate earl grey, lavender, or vanilla mascarpone, and blood orange or lemon basil sorbet. You can order in a cup or on a homemade to-die-for sugar cone. I usually get a small, which ends up being what I refer to as "a human-sized portion". It will NOT make your stomach burst by trying to finish it and WILL allow you to savor the uniqueness of the different flavor elements. You can get more than one flavor, and if you don't know how one tastes, you can get a sample to help guide your decision. The line goes out the door during warm weather, remember to bring cash. They also have sundaes and shakes. ENJOY!

A truly unique ice cream experience in the heart of Princeton. Don't underestimate the cupcakes as they are often overlooked. My favorites are the lavender marscapone and the mango sorbet. Be sure to try before you buy as you will be surprised by the flavors every time.

Every small town needs its iconic, quaint ice cream shop, and the Bent Spoon serves its purpose well for the town of Princeton, New Jersey. In fact, the Bent Spoon goes above and beyond, with its variety of exotic and varied flavors, such as basil, lavender, marscapone, mint, etc. Who would think that such savory/salty flavors would actually mix in well with ice cream? Deciding to be boring, I decided to order two scoops of coconut. It was really delicious and it was pure coconut, but after a while I got this uncomfortable tickling feeling in my throat. At the end of the day, though, I like the Bent Spoon - for just $4 for two scoops, you get a great deal and have a large number of options to choose from. My only qualm with this place is that they should also have traditional ice cream flavors (such as vanilla and strawberry and chocolate), in case someone doesn't want to try a crazy flavor like beet basil!

    (4)
  • Greg B.

This is the one of the best ice cream place I have ever visited. The ingredients are amazingly fresh and creative. Fresh New Jersey farm flavors! Basil, cardamom, plums, pears, ginger, and so on. The more 'normal' flavors are amazing, as well. Princeton has excellent ice cream shoppes, but this is the clear winner for me every time.

  • Sang L.

Not sure what all the fuss is about. First time I had chocolate and strawberry. Was nothing special so I tried a second time, mint and mocha. Not blown away by any means. I miss Thomas Sweet ice cream.

  • K W.

Oh my god, the cupcakes! Perfectly buttery icing with big flakes of sugar. Pink and white, vanilla and chocolate, the small ones are my favorite. They look like they were made by little angels. "Heaven, I'm in heaven..." Once during a cold winter I stopped in for the thickest, most lustrous hot chocolate I've ever tried. I was well-nigh euphoric after drinking just half of it. These people really care about the food and flavors they serve, and the shop has such a sweet rustic/vintage/artisanal vibe.

  • D C.

The Bent Spoon has the best sorbet I have ever had. I stick to the sorbets because they're vegan. They switch up the menu regularly with interesting locally sourced produce. And the best part is they let you split a small cup so you can get 2 flavors! If you're in the Princeton do yourself a favor and stop here, even if you have to wait in line.

    (5)
  • Ann D.

I absolutely adore this ice cream place. They have the most interesting (in a good way) ice cream flavors: Sicilian blood orange, meyer meyer rosemary, cardamon and candied ginger, heirloom tomato... They even have kale ice cream sometimes. The store is small, but cute, and the people are always very friendly. You can try flavors before buying them, and if everything sounds too good to decide, go with the recommendation of the person behind the counter. They're always happy to help. Bent spoon is a nice place to go with friends or as a post-date dessert. Note that they also sell delicious salted caramel brownies!

The finest in cheap, artsy ice cream and sorbet. No pretty afternoon would be complete without buying a scoop or two and lounging in the square. As a visitor to Princeton from San Francisco, I felt right at home when taken to bent spoon. We're talking absurdly expensive food, long lines, flavor names that may require a dictionary -- just like home. And just like Bi-Rite in SF, the bent spoon has come up with a ton of amazing options for very little cash out of your pocket. I hear there's something of a local rivalry between this place and Halo Pub, but I'll leave it to the locals to hash that one out.

    (5)
  • Alice S.

Although they have really great ice cream/gelato flavors, it's a bit on the pricy side and I prefer getting it at Halo Pub. I was introduced to the Bent Spoon from their mini cupcakes a coworker brought in one day. I still go there to grab a dozen ($1.25 each) if I am heading to a party or need an extra last minute dessert as a hostess. Seating is minimal here, so it's best to take your baked goods and frozen treats with you as you stroll around Palmer Square, weather permitting.

  • Katie Anne N.

Great spot! I had the pleasure of enjoying the mango and blood orange sorbet. Amazing. Organic waffle cone. Yum. The line was out the door! Literally. Nice spot to grab dessert and sit outside and enjoy.

    (5)
  • Yolanda H.

Yes, it is expensive, and yes there was an epic line and no room to sit on a cold and rainy March, but the ice cream was incredibly rich (that small can easily feed two!) and the flavors were unique. The service was friendly and efficient, and the patrons were generally good while in line to let people sample and small children sit. I would only come if you're feeling patient and ready to indulge!

    (4)
  • Elisa H.

What flavor! What variety! This is IT! The gelato is great, the sorbets are incredible. The staff is amazingly helpful, the portions are generous! The only downside, it's too far away from our house! Can't wait to go again!

Bent Spoon makes some of the best, freshest, most creative ice cream I've ever had. They make lots of use of local ingredients in season, too. Try their Jersey basil ice cream in late summer. Feel free to ask for a taste of anything - their scoopers are happy to oblige. Do I like Thomas Sweet? Yes, for basic ice cream with stuff blended in. Do I like Halo Pub? Yes, I'll admit I'd probably go there instead if I had a hankering for simple chocolate or vanilla. The reason Bent Spoon is my favorite is because I never know what they'll dream up next, and their flavors aren't found anywhere else. I've had strawberry mascarpone, creme fraiche, vanilla salt caramel, olive oil, pear prosecco, and more - if you like a flavor, try it now, because it might not be there next time. They've made hundreds of flavors over the years. Oh, and as for the people arguing price? Yeah, they're a little pricey. It's also hand-crafted small batches of artisanal ice cream made with the best ingredients they can get their hands on. And it's Princeton. There are worse splurges than $3.50 for a small ice cream. Treat yourself. By the way, they don't just do ice cream - try the sea salt caramel brownies. I know it sounds like I work for them, but I don't - I'm just that loyal and happy a customer. Bent Spoon is a don't miss stop in Princeton.

I don't care how expensive it is. I'd sell all my possessions one by one if I needed to. :) My favorite thing to do is to tell the scooper that I'm in a savory mood, and to just pick whatever 3 flavors they would have fun with. It usually ends up being a wonderful surprise.

  • Chloe M.

I've had their icecream and their super thick European hot chocolate. They have lots of pretty interesting things. I really liked it. Downside is that it is small, and only about two tables to sit at, so expect to take it out on the town.

  • Manisha K.

This is the best ice cream shop I have ever been to! I know of so many places that have crazy flavors that lack taste but the bent spoon has the most exotic flavors and you are definitely not missing out on flavor! I had the Bailey's Irish Cream and it was amazingggg. They make everything right in front of you and they even have organic ice cream too. The bent spoon is a must when visiting Princeton.

    (5)
  • Te R.

well i'm not super picky with ice cream. but bent spoon has a lot of exotic flavors like chocolate habenara, fresh basil, and blueberry, etc. i'm not sure if it tastes any better than, say, jp licks though. but overall it's nice.

Tried their ice cream only at the New Amsterdam Market at South Street seaport, not at their actual location in Princeton, but loved the dark chocolate rosemary and the pumpkin spice w/ cocoa bits flavors. The pumpkin spice reminded me of the autumn/october/upcoming thanksgiving pigging out and the dark chocolate was rich and creamy. Yummy! I wish they have another outlet somewhere in new york city..

Halo Pub or The Bent Spoon? That's a good question and is open to debate. Last night my girlfriend and I gave The Bent Spoon a shot. We heard rumors about how the line is always out the door. This is the case because the place is totally cramped! They can fit maybe 5-7 customers on line at a time and they have 3 -4 small tables for people to sit at. Another gripe is that the flavors were not displayed on a chalkboard so you had to get up very close to the counter to see what they offered. Also, the cost is $4.75 for 3 scoops which is kind of steep. At Halo Pub, you can a pint for $3.75, which is far more than 3 scoops. There are many other options (cones, cups, shakes, etc.) but I chose 3 scoops in a cup. The quality though is very high. I had one scoop of vanilla sea-salt caramel and 2 scoops of coffee made with coffee from Small World. My girlfriend had the vanilla sea-salt caramel as well and hazelnut. The hazelnut was ridiculously good and almost too hazelnut-y. it was like a Nutela ice cream. Overall, we enjoyed their quirky offerings, but if the line is out the door next time we'll most likely head over to Halo instead.

This place has the best ice cream ever! I will travel an hour just to buy a couple pints of ice cream so i can be fully stocked for a few weeks. They pack their ice cream with flavors and not just the standard flavors like raspberry and chocolate. They have the most unique flavors, some that you wouldn't even think to be in an ice cream. Ex: in the summer time they had sweet corn and it was amazing. I love discovering different combinations of flavors that work well together. My fave is the hazlenut hands down. This place is a bit pricey and when you buy one scoop you don't get a whole lot quantity wise for the price you are paying. However, quality-wise you are getting your bang for your buck so to speak. Service has always been great whenever i have visited. Only cons is that they don't update their website very frequently so you don't know what flavors will be there when you decide to visit on any given day. (I'm sure you can call and find out but i've never done it). Also, seating is sparse but a nonissue on nice days in the summer. Also, fair warning: CASH ONLY.

Remarkable ice cream. Expensive and worth every calorie. The Bent Spoon partners with local farmers for ingredients for their ice creams. The results are delicious. Made fresh daily, when a flavor runs out, it runs out. The least expensive size will set you back $3; the most expensive will set you back $5. You can also mail order this stuff. Check their website for info. NB on organics: Getting an 'organic' certification is a costly and time consuming and only larger farms or farms producing value-added goods with higher margins (dairies, CSAs selling retail, etc) can afford to go through the process. A product can be 100% organic without being certified. If certification were required to state that a product is organic, the bulk of the products available on the market would be from super farms -- giant corporate-owned monoculturalists. Whether it is trendy or not, good organic products, grown on farms with responsible land management practices, are a net positive contribution to the products we consume. The "clientele" is largely princeton students and residents of princeton and the surrounding towns. It is a local ice cream shop -- what would you expect?

Best. ice cream. ever. you might regret eating ice cream here, because all the other ice creams you will eat over the rest of your life will then pale in comparison and you will find that ice cream is not longer great unless its from bent spoon. It happened to me.

STAR 1 - Taste. If you love mint, your ice cream will taste like mint. I am in love with the dark chocolate ice cream and raspberry sorbet STAR 2 - Flavours changes everyday STAR 3 - The line moves fairly quickly STAR 4 - Outdoor seating STAR 5 - Cause its the best ice-cream I've ever tasted BOO - Its hot and stuffy in the shop. What happened to air conditioning?

I emailed them about availability of gift certificates and received an incredibly quick response. Each time I replied, the response was as quick and the instructions were simple to follow. This kind of customer service, kind of behind the scenes, tells me that the staff is incredibly professional and attentive. Wish I could try their product myself. In less than a day, my gift certificate and its message was mailed out to our NJ relatives. Amazing service-nowadays.

Delicious ice cream! I loved it. I had the blueberry basil and raspberry, so good! My baby girl loved it too! Good thing this isn't near us, I'd be fat otherwise!

  • Ju D.

The hot chocolate is so good! It's super rich and tastes like basically a melted chocolate bar in a cup that's warm and covered in whipped cream. It's a bit overpriced, I think one small cup of the hot chocolate is about 3.50 then if you want their homemade marshmallow it's like 50 cents extra or something.

  • Kim S.

DELISH! We had just finished eating at Yankee Doodle and were wandering back to the car, contemplating dessert when I saw the sign for "artisan ice cream." We love premium ice cream and were immediately intrigued. It only got better when we walked through the door and saw the flavors: maple bacon, Jersey sweet corn, honey....WOW! I never turn down two things: peanut butter and bacon, so I had a scoop of the peanut butter with a scoop of the maple bacon. They were really good! If you're used to humongous scoops you might be taken aback but the small size, but it was plenty. I can't wait to go back!

    (5)
  • Lauren B.

So so so delicious! I'm a big ice cream/gelato fan and the Bent Spoon is perfect. There's nothing like grabbing a cup (my favorite is one scoop dark chocolate, one scoop peanut butter) and sitting on the bench outside on a nice day. The cupcakes are also delicious.

Small servings but okay price and delicious flavors. Had the peanut butter and the blueberry marscapone, both excellent.

Ok what the crap. I don't give out the coveted umenhofer 5 star rating for anyone. I didn't do it when Denny's gave me 100 free grand slams...So don't take this lightly my friends. This is a awesome display of small town awesome. One star for the ambiance, amazing small place with an antique frige in the corner, another star for the service, friendly knowledgeable staff helped me make a choice. and twelve more stars for the flavor of the ice cream. I had the bourbon sea salt caramel ice cream with beer infused dark chocolate ice cream. YEAH YOU HEARD ME. Best Ice Cream ever? I don't know if it was, it's hard to compete with the home town favorite i grew up with, but the originality blew me away and thus the five star review was born. So if your parents some how can still afford the $100K a year tuition at Princeton, go here every day. Other wise drive through while wearing a nice sweater vest and smoking pipe and no one will be the wiser. TA TA

I am not usually someone who likes to eat sweets. That being said the Bent Spoon is hands down the best ice cream i have ever had. Their unique flavor combinations (avacado-lime? ginger chunk?), super friendly staff, and adorable store front make for an all around lovely experience. I had the marscapone lavander ice cream, and it was absurdly good... buttery, sweet, a little salty... the lavender did not over power. it was fantastic. Matt played it safe and had the coffee (what a punch on that! huge coffee taste!) and cookies and cream (big chunks of cookie in a delightfuly sweet vanilla). This place has flavors that would please anyone; from the tried and true to the weird and wacky. LOVED it

I went this past weekend after not being able to get there for quite some time. After waiting in line for about ten minutes, I got my ice cream and cupcake and realized that I would wait on many long lines to get just even a small cup of the stuff. I LOVE this place! Very unique flavors and their cupcakes are simple and tasty. I bring everyone who visits me from out of town there and they are immediately hooked!

  • Alice M.

Pretty good! Apparently this place has gotten a lot of press before, so the consensus is that it's awesome.. organic/fresh/local ingredients = yummy gelato/ice cream etc. The staff was really nice about letting me try all the flavors I wanted to try (but I didn't take too much advantage of that because I felt bad), but I ended up getting a small of blood orange (really sweet, but quite good), and dark chocolate. Together, it tasted like an ice cream-y version of those chocolate oranges that you can buy, and it was reaaaaaally good. I liked the dark chocolate more than the blood orange only because the blood orange was just a tad too sweet for me after awhile (surprising since I loveeee sweet), but overall, cute shop with great gelato/ice cream/sorbet with great service and ingredients. They have drinks and pastries too but I didn't get a chance to try those.. maybe if I'm back in the area?

  • Amy F.

It's a small ice cream place. They have some great flavors, like Pistachio, Chocolate Chestnut, and Mango. I shared a large (4 scoops) with my brother. The ice cream is super rich and creamy. I liked the christmas lighting. There's definitely a mom and pop feel to it, the servers are spunky and nice. The Pistachio flavor= gold! A bit pricey, but seriously worth every penny! Plus, this place was the Best Ice Cream place of the Year in 2007 in several magazines, I believe. YUMMMMMMMM!

Best ice cream within a 6,371km radius. Halo Pub is good, but Bent Spoon is about as good as it gets.

  • R C.

I didn't think this place was a big deal until I heard about it from 10+ people and saw the line of people that would snake out the door! This is definitely a great gelato/sorbetto joint necessary to survive Princeton's horrible humid summers with some unimaginable flavors including cucumber. It's a bit overpriced but I made it a bi weekly routine to come here anyway.

I dont think this place needs any more reviews... My all-time favorite ice-cream place. Everytime we have a visitor, we make it point to bring them here. The exotic ice-cream varieties and the cup-cakes are ... well .. great!! If you are near Princeton, you must visit the place.. Actually, even if you are not near, make it a point to take a detour to this place... you cannot be disappointed

  • Sandy D.

Oh my goodness. Before I moved to Princeton last year, I had heard about this little ice cream place from a NJ native co-worker of mine. This place definitely lives up to the hype. The type of ice cream is Italian-style gelato and sorbet, with some typical flavors (i.e. vanilla bean, mango, blood orange) and lots of creative and unique flavors such as lavender mascarpone, cocoa nib, basil, turkish coffee, and my personal favorite, bourbon vanilla sea salt caramel. Heavenly!

Awesome flavors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Always new and exciting flavors that change every week. Organic, local ingredients are the ingredients for their awesome ice creams and sorbets. Their chocolate habenero is amazing but not too spicy. They also have the richest, yummiest hot chocolate. There is a banana whip that is only made out of bananas that they make right on the spot. I love the Bent Spoon.

Another amazing ice cream place in princeton. This place has thick and filling ice cream, almost like gelato. It might be expensive but believe me, its worth it.

The Sorbet tastes fresh and keeps you cool on a hot day. The ice cream is creamy and very original. All the flavors are great and you can have more than 1 at once! I also love the cookies and drinks. Truly a small shop thats bursting with flavor.

This is superb icecream and gelato, the best I've eaten. Flavours like bellini, New Jersey tomato, basil, pear, beer, chocolate and orange and whatever they think of next are often made from locally sourced, organic ingredients and taste unbelievable. There is sometimes a long line on the weekends but even then it is well well worth the wait.

    (5)
  • Mike H.

So good. I went in expecting a "hippie" place, with the focus of organic ingredients, but I was in for a surprise. I don't care what goes into the ice cream, all I know is that it tastes incredible. Some of the best ice cream I've ever had. The recent Bourbon Sea Salt Caramel was unreal.

  • Katya O.

I like Bent Spoon a lot but I don't LOVE it because: -it's expensive--you get two small scoops for a lot of $ -their gelato is a little to rich for me -I prefer Thomas Sweets--ie, ice cream, not gelato--for most occasions. ...hence the 4 stars. That being said, they have a lot going for them. I love that they use mostly organic and all local dairy sources--they really support NJ farms and I think that's AWESOME. They have amazing and creative flavors--one of my favorites is Earl Grey. Their hot chocolate ridiculously good--but it's SOO incredibly rich that I always have to split it with someone--it's literally like a melted chocolate bar! My husband loves their shakes--he gets a black and white--vanilla plus chocolate. Overall I tend to choose Thomas Sweets over Bent Spoon because when I want good old ice cream, T-Sweets delivers. Bent Spoon is fantastic, but it's a little too specialty for me. I prefer classic ice cream, I guess. p.s. Bent Spoon also gets points for great ambience and total cuteness inside!

  • Stephanie B.

Bent Spoon is superb. Nothing else is comparable. The flavors are intense, complex, and utterly unique.

I like their artisan ice cream and LOVE the hot chocolate. Every time I enter, I am determine to try another ice cream flavor, but the hot chocolate lures me away! Maybe the warmer months ahead will change this pattern of mine.

  • Jenna H.

Bent Spoon is GOOD. Otherworldly really. This is the probably the best cold confection--ice cream, gelato, sorbetto, what have you-- I have had in my 23 years of life... & since my first words were "ice cream" (no joke) that's saying something. While some flavors have been more lustworthy than others (ginger cardamom, lemon mascarpone) more than once I have made the 20+ minute drive, on my own, just for a small taste of unknown-flavor heaven (since the flavors change frequently). On my last trip home over the summer I had their euro-style HOT chocolate (the jabanero version) in the heat of July, because I missed it that much. Homemade marshmallows in a variety of flavors?! Fresh baked cupcakes & minis?! It just doesn't get better than this. Except that they use only local products & ingredients. At $3 for a scoop of (legal) ectsasy, it's a steal!

Small place but excellent ice-cream. A bit expensive but quality makes up for it!

  • Chris S.

As far as ice cream goes, I don't think it's very good. They have really bizarre flavors that lots of people get into, but I never have. I tried a chocolate mint flavor of theirs - mint and chocolate is god - and thought it was pretty nasty. The store itself is TINY. If five people are in there it's crowded. Their portions are also pretty small and compared to Halo Pub around the corner this place is much more expensive. They do make their own ice cream, I'll give them points for that, and they have REALLY delicious cupcakes. I've heard from a number of people that they don't use organic milk, even though they claim to be all-organic. I haven't confirmed this but who knows. The people who work there and lots of their Die-Hard clientele are a bit obnoxious about how fantastically local and organic and vegan and pro-earth the place is. It gets a little sickening. If you want ice cream - go to halo pub. If you want a cupcake - go here, they're much better than House of Cupcakes on Witherspoon.

Absolutely amazing. The icecream/sorbet creation is incredible. Very true to whatever flavor the fruit tastes like. I got a 4-spoon cup and want to go back for more after that. I wish we have one in Nashville.

I have tried cupcakes from all the most well-known cupcake bakeries(Magnolia, Sprinkles, Billy's bakery, etc.) and Bent Spoon cupcakes are by far the best I've ever had-absolute PERFECTION

By far the best ice cream I've had, and this is after combing through New York City up and down desperately in search of a substitute. The flavors here are always fresh and new, each summer and winter bringing new variations. The ingredients are local, which makes a huge difference, and the process they use must be magic because the texture of the ice cream is sublime. Truly a destination for anyone in the area. Now if they only would open a branch in Manhattan, preferably on the West Side...

Pretty good cupcakes and baked goods. Sub par gelato, but I guess they tried. I also have a feeling that all their "organic" stuff isn't really certified organic and they are just trying to be trendy. Their clientel is really obnoxious though, so don't say I didn't warn you.

best. raspberry. sorbet. EVER. Yeah, I know that's not the most original or inventive flavor, but it's my favorite. I just love raspberry flavored anything, and this is hands down, the tastiest, freshest, most flavorful raspberry sorbet I've ever had. Love the seeds in it too. The other flavors are pretty unique and tasty too. Service is always nice, even though they are constantly busy. The line is always out the door, but they do their best to make it move quickly, even when the girl in front of you is tasting 10 different flavors. Location is great, as across the street there are benches, concrete seats/chess tables, and a patch of grass to sit on when the weather allows.

The world's greatest ice cream shop! Since moving out west, I miss 'the Spoon' so damn much. My last act in Princeton was treating myself to a shake here. I long for the cardamom ginger and Turkish coffee. The creativity and enthusiasm of the owners really comes through in their products. Great hot chocolate too. Pick up some lemony sugar cookies to go.

the quality of their food is absolutely amazing. they constantly come up with new and unusual flavors (basil, lemon sage) that burst with flavor. this is not your typical heavy-cream-with-little-bit-of-flavor ice cream place, which is what makes it my favorite. their (all vegan) sorbets are so flavorful (and not watery at all) that they become just additional flavors instead of something vegan people eat or those on a diet. an article in edible jersey describes their practices which support local agriculture by purchasing fresh, in season ingredients from local farmers. so you can even feel good about yourself while enjoying the most intense flavors of ice cream in town... :-)

i'm a major health freak and pretty much eat a very healthy diet.. i make exceptions for only a few things, and ice cream and sorbet from the bent spoon are two of them... great flavors and i like how many of them are derived from local produce. i like the ice cream better than the gelato i had while studying abroad in italy.

After reviewing Grom in New York, I wondered what people had to say about Bent Spoon, my favorite ice cream spot in the US. Bent Spoon is much better than places like Grom, despite the hype, the long line, and the prices ($3.50 for a filling small portion of two flavors), mainly because, unlike Grom and others, it is worth the hype, the prices are still less than New York prices despite similar rent issues, and the lines are not longer than, say, the line for Magnolia or Grom... This is not ice cream you eat a whole pint of in one sitting to fill up, there's the cheaper option, Halo Pub, around the corner for that. And this is not where you find "American" flavors like Oreo cookie or cookie dough or moose tracks. This is where you get very rich, very tasty, unique flavors like heirloom tomato, candied ginger, Turkish coffee, avocado, olive oil, blood orange, chocolate jabenero, cardamom, as well as some more classic flavors like the double chocolate ice cream or sorbet (which tastes just like the ice cream!) They use local ingredients as much as possible. The ice cream is seasonal. You get amazing coconut ice cream when the coconuts are good and fresh. You get the best chocolate hazelnut ice cream during hazelnut season, which tastes like the ice cream version of Nutella! As for the crowd, well, they are townies and students, nothing too obnoxious, not more than I have experienced in New York, for example. The serving staff are friendly. The owners are very nice, friendly, and they will remember you! Don't forget to try the cookies, the cupcakes (beats Magnolia in New York any day! But I never understood why people liked cupcakes, so I would never pay this price for some cupcake, anywhere), and the jabanero hot chocolate (which will turn into thick chocolate guck if you leave it to cool, it's that thick and rich!)...

I'm long overdue in praising the Bent Spoon. It feels odd typing that name and using capitalization, as their logo is all lower-case and in a simple, classic "american typewriter" font. Very low-key. Very unassuming. Which is sort of a base irony, as everything they serve (the ice cream, sorbet, cupcakes, hot chocolate, coffee, scones, croissants, etc., and indeed, etc....) is the best. I'm not using hyperbole. Yesterday I finally had their peppermint schtick flavor. It's hands down the best peppermint stick ice cream I've ever had. Their cupcakes are so good I only get them in the small size. The bigger size is simply too much to handle. The hot chocolate (which comes in regular, peppermint or spicy varieties) is like a melted chocolate bar. I'm sorry, I mean to say, it's like THE BEST melted chocolate bar you've ever had. So. Yes. Incredible. And it's all hand-made, from locally sourced ingredients. And the staff are unfailingly nice. TOO nice, if truth be told. I should dock them a star for that. But I won't. It's a tad small, so be prepared to wait if it's a weekend. But honestly, they power through those lines quick as can be. And they have the ever-shifting flavor varieties posted above the counter so you can decide while you wait.

I used to be extremely loyal to Thomas Sweets on my trips to Princeton but a recent stop at The Bent Spoon changed that. You wait in line long enough to have your mouth watering. Definitely ask to try some of their funkier flavors like Sweet Basil or Blood Orange. I decided on Blueberry and Coconut, the coconut being the clear winner. Extremely creamy, line moves fast, but you get a hearty serving for what you get (the small is two scoops of two different flavors).

Princeton's strongest establishment. Everything is great, but the mama cake is probably the best chocolate cake I have ever had. Banana whip is the healthy option, but not my favorite.

Delicious icecream! Everything is made in house, so it is fresh. There is a mistake on this website saying it is closed on Mondays, but they are open 11-6 I believe, just check their website, I went last Monday. I love their coconut sorbet, and their seasonal items. One thing that kinda bothers me is that they are cash only, so make sure to bring your money, or go to the ATM beforehand. Love this place!!!

My sweet Lord, I have never had ice cream like this. It was like "Gorge Harrison" came out of the rift, possessed me and road me like a Loa in order to eat his way to freedom. The ice cream was like sweet, frozen butter. I sat down on the curb and wept uncontrollably, spooning it into my yawning maw as quickly as possible. The rest of the Ivy League can go succumb to stomach cancer in its ivory gulag, but the Bent Spoon is my Alma Mater.

i never get tired of their chocolate chip cookie and raspberry sorbet! mmmm.. oh and i cannot leave the shop without getting their amazing cupcakes!! its cute and delicious. Personally, I loath icings soo very much, but I can never get tired of bent spoon's homemade icings. Its not too sweet (in fact it a bit salty) and rich in flavors! I just love every bit of this little local ice-cream shop! : )

So everyone in Princeton raves about the Bent Spoon but I thought it was just okay. It's wonderful that they have such interesting flavors, and admirable that they're sourcing as much as possible from New Jersey, but this is some expensive ice cream. (I guess if you live in Princeton you must be able to afford it.) I tried the lavender marscapone and the cardamom with crystallized ginger. Very interesting combination. The lavender marscapone was very delicate, as you'd expect something with those two flavors to be, and the cardamom ginger was decidedly not, with the overly sweet, oversized pieces of ginger taking over the taste of the cardamom. It was hot enough outside that everything melted into a grayish gloop that tasted like lavenderymarscaponeySUGARSUGARSUAGR(ginger?). Conceptually, great flavor ideas. Maybe I just picked the wrong combination to try out.

Very good icecream in a variety of flavors. It's not just the flavors, but also the uniqueness of them - blood orange, lavender marscapone, chocolate habanero. If you care, many of the flavors are organic and most of the ingredients are local. The texture of the ice cream is kind of in between traditional gelato and ice cream in texture. Creamy but light on the tongue so you can really taste the entirety of every spoonful. Their sorbets are light and flavorful. I found the blood orange sorbet to be a bit too potent actually, but it definitely tasted like blood orange. Inside it's cramped. There's two smallish tables with just a few seats. Even if you snag one you will feel oppressed by the long line that snakes inside then goes out the door. Take it for a stroll around town rather than sitting inside. $3.50 = 2 scoops. Two scoops means two actual scoops not two heaps of ice cream on top of one another. You can mix flavors or stick to just one. I think it's worth the price. ~New!~ - "Plain" Mascarpone - delicious, creamy, just the right amount of sweentess. Creme Fraiche - similar taste to the mascarpone. Tangy, sweet, creamy, light. Great mouth feel. Double dark chocolate - like dark chocolate, except better. Very strong chocolate taste, like a very high quality dark chocolate. I can't explain it any better without sounding like a chocolate nerd, but if you like your chocolate DARK this is for you. Strawberry Mascarpone - the mascarpone takes a back seat on this one, contributing to the smooth texture but the flavor is dominated by strawberry. Dark chocolate - dark. chocolate. tastes like it sounds : )

I must say, I was skeptical about how ice cream could be so good (and so much better than store bought tubs) but this was hands down one of the top 3 most delicious ice cream I've had in my life. Definitely make a stop if you're in Princeton. They let me taste test a few before I chose. The flavors were amazing - I got coconut and peppermint, and they have very unique kinds like "kiwi lemon" and "eggnog" that all change daily. Tastes homemade in a good way.

Gooooooo here! Really unique flavors, plus tame stuff too! Delicious. Thank god its 45 minutes from me or Id be there every day I could in the summer. Love the dark chocolate, which they always seem to have. I cant even go into all the different flavors ive tried (a medium has 3 small scoops and theyll give you 3 different flavors if you want... Which equals a lot of flavor trying over the years) but some that stand out are the earl gray and blood orange.

$4 for a serving of ice cream that comes in a cup that I think is used by most restaurants to give you a side of ketchup in. But don't worry they give you a spoon the size of a child's pinkie so it takes a while to eat regardless. Normally that would lead me to knock a bunch of stars off the rating, but the ice cream is so good I don't care that I had to eat from a condiment cup with a toothpick. The flavors are unique and all the ones I got to try were creamy and in one instance spicy. I had lavender in one scoop and dark chocolate as the other. My girlfriend got chocolate and coffee. Mine was a mix between the heavy chocolate and the lightness of the lavender (Who thought to eat lavender in the 1st place anyway?). Gf's were more better paired together. I didn't mind mine though separately they were both amazing. Inside is tiny but welcoming. We walk around the campus instead of sitting in there. Damn Princeton makes my college look dumpy in comparison!

A nerdy little Bent Spoon equation: (2 friends + me) X 2 scoops each = 6 flavors of ice cream deliciousness. We indulged in: cookies & cream, vanilla bean, tangerine cassis, honey, lavender marscapone and crème fraîche. All were rich, creamy and used local ingredients when available. Yes, the scoops are on the smaller side. But I think the quality of the product warrants the price (which, honestly isn't THAT expensive) and the density and richness of the ice cream definitely leaves you satisfied. Except not so satisfied that you won't long for a little more stomach room to house a few more scoops...

  • Ashley J.

The ice cream served here is not the usual stuff you'd find in regular ice cream shops. There are so many unique flavors to choose from. Highly recommend the "NJ Honey." It's honey ice cream with honey drizzled on top!

  • Heather A.

The thing I love best about Bent Spoon is all the interesting flavors they come up with. I would never have thought that Olive Oil or Lavender Marscapone would taste very good as ice cream, but they have become some of my favorites. It's also really cool that they use local ingredients and list where they come from. It is a bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. The storefront is tiny and the seating is very limited, but it's worth it.

  • Stephen R.

The ice cream here is alright, though overall, it's totally overrated. I'm surprised there's always such a long line that goes out the door, though I guess there's nothing else to do in this sleepy town but go out for some ice cream. There are lots of rave reviews for Bent Spoon, but it's not necessarily that unique or out of this world, considering the market is fairly saturated with gourmet ice cream and gelato options these days.

A lot of people overlook the pastries, which I think is a shame because they are so darn good. Maybe it's because they are incompatible with a great portion of the menu? Ice-cream: I am not compelled to come here if I want the best ice-cream in Princeton, sorry. Yet, if I'm ever in the mood for something to throw my taste buds into ecstasy, I'll drop by. The flavors are exotic, sure, but the ice-cream itself is not top-notch, creamy, comforting to the soul material. Depending on your school of thought, eating ice-cream should be a relaxing experience, not exactly a thrill-seeking one. What is pretty comforting is the hot chocolate, though. Definitely the best I've been able to find in the area. Creamy, not sickeningly sweet, just the right consistency. Be sure to add a mini-cupcake to the mix. Sorbets: They are king and there is no disputing it. The Italian Blood Orange is nothing short of spectacular. It's one of the few things I get a nagging craving for. Mind you, I've been here countless times for a reason. They have great staying power, but the total package is far from perfection. Also, I think it's worth noting that they have some of the best employees I've encountered. Sure, they have no reason to hate the job, but you wont find a staff more passionate about serving you ice-cream. And keep in mind that this holds true even when they are swamped, line out the door, people can't make up their minds, too much noise to hear yourself speak. Enjoy!

Great Gelato! I went there last Sunday. We had to wait in line and try to look through the window to see the flavors. It does get crowded, especially on a nice summer day. I had two flavors - mango sorbet and hazlenut gelato. Both were delicious. You can sample the flavors before purchasing.

I rag a lot on the food in Princeton because I think, in general (and there are other exceptions, but, you know, overall) it's not all that great. The Bent Spoon is an exception. It's a little light in this dark black hole of a restaurant scene--it's as good as ice cream gets. PROS--this place has the most creative flavors. Basil ice cream, tomato ice cream--it may not be for the faint of heart, but everything they do, they do well. And they're pretty fearless when it comes to creating flavors. Also, the hot chocolate is so. amazingly. wonderful. I am not a hot chocolate person in general, but this could convert even the biggest of cynics. CONS--only takes cash, which is annoying. It's also very expensive for ice cream. The servings are small-ish for the price. I think it's worth it, but a small ice cream at Bent Spoon costs about the same as a pint of Ben and Jerry's at the grocery store so be prepared. Also there tends to be a line and there's not much by way of seating in the restaurant itself. And what little there is, is a little tight, weirdly arranged, and not super comfortable.

Such a cute little ice cream shop! Amazing gourmet flavors that change seasonally. The mascarpone tasted like heaven in a cup- highly recommended when it's offered. The cups appear small in size but the ice cream is so rich that it's really all you need. Expect a line when the weather is nice, but it does move pretty quickly. And remember to bring cash!

I love love love ice cream. I've even eaten it for breakfast (more times that I care to admit). And this is my absolute favorite ice cream place. Ever. How much do I love the Bent Spoon? When I moved away from Princeton to just outside of Philly, I once drove an hour (both ways) in the winter to buy a pint of half sea salt caramel and half mascarpone. The workers helpfully put it in a ziplock with some ice cubes, and I picked up some snow from outside to pack around it for the drive home. Yes, they have baked goods. The sea salt caramel brownie, while somewhat expensive, is a bite of salty-sweet sheer heaven. And there are cupcakes, coffee, and hot chocolate (European style), but with ice cream as amazing as this, I don't think I'll get around to trying them anytime soon. Tip: Pick up a "Gent Bent Club" card--buy 10 and get a cupcake, small beverage, or small ice cream free!

There are simply no words to express how great this place is, even though the prices are steep and the wait can get long. The fact that people are still willing to line up down the block goes to show how far amazing food and fantastic service can get you! There are only a few seats, though, so be prepared to squeeze inside, sit on the bench outside, or stroll over to the park across the street. And finally, you should definitely at least taste one of their more adventurous flavors - they're usually 10 times better than they sound! If you're ever in the Princeton area, you just have to stop by and try the best ice cream, thick hot chocolate, and cupcakes in town!

Two words: blood orange. I've never had the pleasure of enjoying the actual fruit before, but it yields some excellent sorbet.

  • Jessica S.

In a recent dream, I was in a room surrounded by snow drifts, which were not actually made of snow, but rather of coconut ice cream, much to my delight. I must have been subconsciously lusting after Bent Spoon's coconut sorbet to bring in the days of summer. It's one of my all-time favorite Bent Spoon flavors, though all of their flavors, even the most adventurous ones, have never disappointed. Somehow they manage to capture the essence of the flavor; even the tiny sample spoon packs a powerful punch! Be warned, you'll have to lick your way through the entire scoop if you get a flavor that is overly intense for your palate, so choose wisely. Their cupcakes are also great, better than the ones over at House of Cupcakes in achieving delicious moistness and appropriate amount of sugary goodness on top. While the lines can be quite long, especially in summer, rarely have I turned back. I just have to have it. Even if I have to wait 5-10 minutes in the numbing cold or sweltering heat. This is one Princeton establishment I don't mind waiting for.

    (5)
  • Danan R.

The line was out the door tonight but it was worth the wait. The coconut never fails to disappoint and the cookies n cream was full of Oreos ad deliciously creamy. I also tried the lavender, which was very good, as well. Portions are small but you do get two favors with a small ( $3.50), 3 with a medium ($4.50), and 4 with a large ($5.25). Apparently there was an olive oil flavored variety but I chickened out of trying it. Cash only. Parking is a pain but drive around and eventually a meter will free up.

Bent Spoon reaffirms the linkage between college towns and good ice cream. My theory is that tubby Boston Brahmins, many of them trust fund babies, risk making a living from selling home-made ice cream, knowing fully well that there is not much money to be made in that business, once you factor in seasonality, and the price sensitivity of college student customers. Bent Spoon in Princeton, il laboratorio del gelato in New York and Capogiro in Philadelphia are simply a few examples. Bent Spoon is a local establishment in the Palmer Square area in downtown Princeton. It provides a useful contrast to the mandatory rows of bland boutiques, stationers and modiocre restaurants that make up an Ivy League college town. Bent Spoon is a clear winner given the variety and quality of its ice cream. The flavors change each day and go beyond the traditional ones, to include such exotic selections as blood orange, basil, ginger cardamom and nutty caramel streak. Seating is at a premium, but the neighborhood is quaint enough that you might as well take a stroll, digging your bent spoon into your cup of creamy delight. Bent Spoon also has a great selection of sorbets and cupcakes if you subscribe to the myth that they are any less fattening. But their ice cream reigns supreme. I have never tasted more delicious ice cream in such an interesting assortment of flavors. I shall leave you with an imaginary timeline for such establishments-- Year 0 20 25 30 35 _______________________________________________________ | | | | | | | | | | Trust fund Attends Ivy Opens quaint Acquires Shuts down baby is born League school bakery trust funds bakery 7lbs 150 lbs 200 lbs 250 lbs 300 lbs As you would infer from the timeline, these establishments are likely to come and go, so you had better hurry to sample their unique creations.

THIS is ice cream. Reminds me of the Ici in Berkeley, CA :) Sooooo yummy, such unique flavors, local ingredients, plus, it's in the cutest place to go to in Princeton. I fell in love. I got the Pumpkin Ale with Ginger (I know that's not the correct name, but close enough) and the Greek Yogurt. I could definitely taste the pumpkin ale in the ice cream, with a sweet bitterness (strange, I know) that all beer has. Also, the sugar crystallized ginger was strong but tasty. The Greek Yogurt was very delicious, but a little sweet for me after they drizzled honey on top of it. All the other flavors looked delicious, and the mini-cupcakes were too cute :) I will definitely be back!

This place was AMAZING! The consistency is similar to gelato. I tried about five favors; ALL of which were great. I settled on the raspberry lemon, blue mango, and streaked vanilla. I'll be sure to visit again tomorrow. The cookies were also great. I had the ginger chunk and sea salt peanut butter. Needless to say, I left completely satisfied ^_^

Went back today and I was totally impressed! I got the Ricotta ice cream (tasted like cream cheese but with a interesting twist), Sweet corn (not what you would like! It was actually 1 of the best ice cream flavors I have ever tasted), and spicy melon (which was odd but good! Nice fruity flavor with just a little kick at the end). Also got a chocolate cupcake, and boy was it good! It was so moist and the icing was not too sweet! Great job!

I would absolutely give this place 5 stars except that the cafe itself is tiny and cramped, and rarely has any seating. This isn't a problem in the spring and summer, because there's ample seating in the park outside, but on cold or rainy days, it's very annoying. As for the ice cream itself, that deserves a five-star rating. The ice cream is very different in texture from Haagen-Dazs or Ben and Jerry's (or other typical ice creams); it's creamy, more gelato-like. The flavors change constantly, generally according to season, and there is always a delicious array, although my favorites are ricotta, blood orange, lavender mascarpone, green tea with white chocolate, and earl grey. The cupcakes are delicious, although I don't tend to like cupcakes, and therefore don't have a strong opinion. The hot chocolate I find revoltingly rich, but that *is* the European style, and many people like it. Come for the ice cream. During the school year, you'll probably be deluged by university students (forgive us).

Delicious, delicious and absolutely delicious. Princeton's most famous ice cream deli. I love the lavender and avocado flavors. Worth a special trip. You will find combinations here that you will wonder how anyone thought of them. Be brave and sample several. The staff is always friendly and willing to give you additional tastes. They use local ingredients and some flavors are magical. I really love to combine Earl Grey and one of their dark chocolates. I've heard some Indian people rave they come specially to get the mango sobert which they say is superb. Yes, the cups are small and expensive but you can really savor every bite. (If you just want a large scoops of vanilla, chocolate or strawberry, you should go to Halo or Thomas Sweets.)

With all these reviews in one day, you would of thought I just walked in and walked out with a description! Not the case here. I spent a lot of time in New Jersey today shopping, so it definitely worked up an appetite! After dinner, I was craving some ice cream. My friend Brandon suggested that we try the Bent Spoon. I did not believe him when he said it was the best! It definitely was amazing. They let you try out as many flavors as you want. There were some pretty interesting ones. I ended up getting a small size which included two scoops of your choice. I went with a Sicilian Blood Orange sorbet, and a Chocolate Earl Grey. I know it sounds weird together, but I had the Blood Orange on top, finished that, then devoured the Chocolate Earl Grey! It was so good, I really thought I should of had more! My friend Brandon had a Blueberry Marscapone and Sweet NJ Basil Ice Cream. I tried a little, and didn't really care much for the basil, but the Blueberry Marscapone was out of this world! When I come back to Princeton, I will be sure to make this place a stop! I wish to try the Lavender next time, if its available!

This place is awesome. I love that the experiment with flavors (heirloom tomato, concord grape, etc. etc.) and I love that the flavor selection changes throughout the day. It makes going here an unpredictable, exciting experiment. I will say that their flavors are sometimes a little hit or miss and not everything they try to pull off appeals to me, but they get a pass on this because you can try anything you want for free before you buy it. Further, when they nail a flavor, they really nail it. They make the best pistachio ice cream I have ever had (and I am somewhat of an expert on pistachio ice cream) and the Bartlett pair and blood orange were awesomely intense. This is the one of the must see food destinations in Princeton.

When I lived in Princeton, we visited the Bent Spoon very often, at least once a month - They have the absolute best ice cream and sorbet around (Halo Pub is a close second) with delicious, bizarre flavors. Cupcakes are fabulous too (I suspect they are like 50% butter/fat). Some of my favorites are the Lavendar Mascarpone, Basil Goat Cheese and Turkish Coffee. You can sample things before ordering, which is helpful, but don't hold up the line too long because it's always stretched out the door. They also have great vegan flavors like Coconut, Raspberry and Mango. The flavors vary depending on what's in season; they always have something different to try! I thought the tomato flavor was gross, though. So what if the scoops are minuscule (about 2'' in diameter); that's why they give you a doll-sized spoon to eat the ice cream with!

Delicious! The chocolate-hazelnut was so intense, smooth, and yummy! I also enjoyed the coconut, but have had better coconut elsewhere. If I'm ever in the area again I would absolutely love to return here! It's a charming little spot and the employees were super friendly. Great place!

This parlor had some eclectic selections of ice cream. We had ricotta pistachio and it was very delicious - creamy yet not overly sweet. It was very busy on a Saturday afternoon. There was even a bridal couple who went in there for the photo shoot.

This place is AMAZING. Their ice cream is incredible (a bit on the expensive side but incredible). Lots of interesting flavors and textures but all delicious! Their cupcakes are amazing too - they only have chocolate and vanilla but I'm pretty sure they're handcrafted in store and they're so rich and creamy and probably the best cupcakes I've ever had! I also recommend the hot chocolate (I think they were ranked in the top 10 in the country for their hot chocolate on buzzfeed actually!). It's really thick though so def split it with someone else if you can (they only have one size), I could only really finish half a cup by myself :)

This is a wonderful shop; I have never had a bad experience here. The staff is great, and happy to give samples. The only problem is deciding which combination of flavors to buy!

Hubby and I were in the area on Sunday afternoon and decided to try this place because of the great yelp reviews. We waited in line for about 20 mins, which wasn't too bad. We had the Earl Grey and Farm Fresh Ricotta flavors and both were really good! My hubby really liked the Earl Grey one; it had the taste of the tea and it was not super sweet. The Ricotta one was on the sweeter side, and very creamy, but I liked it. However, the flavors were unique, but the taste was not mind-blowing. Hence the four stars. But definitely will stop by again if we comes to Princeton next time.

Bent Spoon was in the New York Times this weekend for their Hot Chocolate and boy, does the New York Times know what they're talking about! Best hot chocolate I've ever had and probably will ever have until I go back to Bent Spoon.

I love coming here. DT Princeton is a nice place, and the park in Palmer Square is a great location to sit and eat your ice cream. The Bent Spoon draws an interesting mix of customers and isn't just a home to the elitist, khaki shorts, polo shirt and boat shoe wearing preppy types you normally associate with Princeton (not that they don't go there too). Although I tend to get the dark chocolate half the time I go there, I've never had a bad flavor. The only hardship is the line. I've been there Sunday mornings in the rain and had to wait. The hard ice cream milkshakes are really, really good too, but they take longer to make, and I wouldn't try to get one when they're super busy unless you want to be snarled at by the others in line.

Very curious as to why my first review was deleted. I simply don't like it. Apparently that is a reason for censorship here. I just don't get it... interesting but odd flavors, and very overpriced in any case. Fanciness and novelty don't negate the fact that this is ice cream counter service, not dinner at Le Cirque. Better options in Princeton for reasonable prices.
