Went in on the Friday after Thanksgiving at 6:00, seated right away at a booth in the bar. All staff was very friendly and very attentive. Not a large menu, which isn't a bad thing but nothing really popped to me. The wife and I shared the onion rings as an appetizer. They were awesome, plenty for the two of us. I had the fried shrimp, average, nothing special. The wife had the chicken strips, once again, average, nothing special. One thing that did catch my eye was "Scratch and Homemade". This isn't a big deal for me but if you are going to advertise it do it. I'm pretty sure, not definitely, but don't think anything I had was home made, except for the onion rings. Once not a big deal. The fries, the easiest thing to home make, weren't cut in the kitchen, I would bet on it. Would I go back..........

I am completely baffled by this place. I was repeatedly told how good the food was and how cheap it was. The food was bland, service was mediocre, terrible beer selection, mixed drinks have hardly any booze and the supposedly cheap food really isn't that cheap. Spend a few dollars more and you can eat at any number of similar local places and have a decent meal. Yet every time I drive by this place the parking lot is full regardless of the time of day. Seriously, treat yourself and spend the extra pocket change and go somewhere else.

A lot of people I know and some fellow Yelpers seem to rag on Cheddar's. I really just don't see why. Sure, it's another chain in a town laden with them. Of the many chain options at our disposal, Cheddar's is one of the better options. This chain proclaims that everything is made from-scratch, in-house. When I first heard this I thought to myself, in the words of Luke Skywalker, "That's not true. That's impossible." While all the selections at Cheddar's are likely not wholly homemade, food preparation here is far more extensive than most any other major chain. You can tell that it's made to order, rather than pre-cooked a thousand miles away and simply heated at the restaurant. It's truly an incredible feat for a chain of such size. The food has always came out hot and fresh each time I've been here. The quality of the food easily surpasses similar restaurants such as Applebee's and TGI Friday's. If the quality doesn't bring in the hungry, the portion sizes will. At Cheddar's, you get a lot of food for your money; and not just a lot of food, but decent food as well. The service has always been good on each trip, albeit sometimes a bit on the slow side during peak hours of operation. Even two years after opening, Cheddar's remains a popular place for diners. I'll cut them some slack on when the service is slower, simply because it's a real challenge trying to run a business that's almost constantly busy. All in all, Cheddar's is welcome addition to the Lincoln area. I will be back for the pleasant aura, fresh food, good service, great value, and but of course, a margarita, maybe two.

Decent prices, good service, big portions. Loved the chips and cheese dip.

Cheddars is great. I stopped in here with my grandparents while visiting Lincoln and I really liked it. I got this sandwich thing, I can't really remember the name of it right now. It was so good. They give you more than enough food. The portions here are huge and there are always leftovers. Our server was really nice, he always came back to check on us. He chatted with us a little while, he was very friendly. Cheddars is a great place to go, but not when it's busy. It can get packed, as does the cheddars back home. The decorations are pretty much the same from store to store.

I can't actually speak for the food here because I didn't even make it to the door before I refuse to ever give this place my money! I had some checks stolen out of my wallet and one was written here. Not only did their wait staff take a single prewrittwn check with no ID for close to $250, but after I stopped payment on the check for fraud they started collections as if I had written a bad check. Several calls to their general manager and copies of the police report and bank papers yielded no results. I actually had to close my checking account after about 6 or 7 instances of them using various collection companies to take money out and I would have to contact my bank to reverse it. Bad bad business practices!!!

Our service was really good, so much so I took the time at the end to thank our server and tell him what a great job he was doing. He was soooo busy and our table literally never even felt it, what a professional, I want to say his name was Matt. Food was great, the queso I highly recommend. I had the monte cristo and it was really good, very heavy though so have a appetite. I got mashed potatoes and he asked if I wanted gravy I said yes and it was country gravy, I guess i expected brown gravy for potatoes and country gravy is more for steak and such, but that's my own preference. I have been here 4 times and never had a problem with the service or food. I can say I am still Looking for the perfect entree to crave here, still on the hunt.

This place has always given us great food, consistent service & unbelievably reasonable prices. I don't know how they do it. There's no place that I can take the family and feed them for less. The portions tend to be large, so split a meal or plan to take your left overs home.

Oh Cheddars. You have a great menu. I gave you two chances and you blew them both. First time, we were there and we started with the queso (added the free ground beef), good chips, good queso. I had the Cajun Pasta wtih shrimp, chicken and sausage. My mate had the fish tacos, which he said were really good. The pasta was good too - the shrimp tasty, the sausage pretty delish. As we were gushing over how good everything was, I noticed in my pasta what I thought was maybe a sausage skin or a tomato skin, but it was actually a piece of plastic about 2 1/2 inches long. Yuk. They did comp my pasta, but still. Went back a second time. My mate had the chicken tender basket and again his entree was really good. I ordered the chicken fired steak. First thing I noticed was the breading fell off too easily. Then I saw that the meat inside was rare, not cooked. By the time I got a replacement, my friend was finished eating. The steak itself was tough. Not good. I cannot recommend this place at all, they have a lot of problems in their kitchen, despite a good menu, good prices, they cannot execute. Too bad.

My first visit to Cheddars. I've wanted to try it for a while but it was so busy and the reviews were kind of meh. My son had the Buffalo chicken strips with fries. He raved about them. They were huge and there was a lot of them. Reasonably priced too for what he got. I ordered the steak and ribs combo. The ribs were pretty good. The steak which was supposed to be medium well was charred and a somewhere between well done and BURNT. It was also very small. The corn tasted like it came out of a can and the red beans and rice were passable. Overall it was average. Not bad, not outstanding. I won't hurry back but neither would I avoid it.

This place was great food for an awesome price. Good service, fast and prompt. The portions are awesome for the price. I got the grilled shrimp and chicken fingers with baked potato and corn, and my GF got the half rack of ribs, mac and cheese and corn. Each meal was only $10.49. What a deal! Tons of grub. We will definitely be coming back

  • Michael R.

The salad was frozen, the chicken fried steak was all breading with poor flavor, soup bland.. the only good things were the broccoli and chicken strips from the kids menu.. will never return!!! The service was poor. Wish I would've went to Perkins!

The menu's diverse selection, combined with the most reasonable prices, pleasent ambiance, and well prepared food, make for a pleasant surprise at on of the newer eateries in Lincoln! Looking at the reviews, I must have hit it on a turnaround. It was fine for me! I ate healthy too! Check out their website.

All I can say is meh, the food is mediocre at best. My girlfriend and I tried this place a couple of times when they first opened up. Our first time there I ordered a steak rare knowing most restaurant chains over cook there meat, it came out well done, I sent it back and the re-cook came out medium(I like my red meat pretty bloody) needless to say nothing special about this place, the one thing they have going for them is it's affordable......that's about it.

My coworker and I came here for lunch the other day and my first impression was of the atmosphere which is nicely decorated, low lit, and cool inside. There is a beautiful fish tank on one wall and I really enjoyed the overall surroundings. Our server was very nice and while she didn't seem to know a lot about what was gluten free she was more than willing to ask for me, which I thought was really nice of her. They did have a gluten free menu but it does look a bit haphazard, it was a piece of paper printed out with additional items scribbled on the sides. So I was pretty sure it was a work in progress, but it was amazing that they even had one. I ordered a strawberry lemonade which was good and a side salad with balsamic vinaigrette to start. The salad was also good with tomatoes and fresh lettuce. My coworker had a side salad with blue cheese dressing and the onion rings, he said both were very good. For the entrees my coworker ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich, and he loved it. I ordered the steak and shrimp, broccoli and a baked potato, gluten free of course. It did take a while for the entrees to come out but when they did my food was not gluten free, it had several items on the plate that specifically said not gluten free on their sheet. They took it back and said they would make me a new one. I really appreciated that the server came and apologized and even the manager came by and conveyed his apologies. Whenever food is mixed up I feel that few restaurants really make an effort to improve the dining experience for the customer unless the person makes a scene, which I did not, and the staff here really was very nice about it. Unfortunately the food not only took a very long time to come out again, my coworker was finished and we were then 30 mins late to get back, but when I got it I was very unimpressed with the flavor of the steak. I have to agree with other reviews on here that the food was not very good. The steak was flavorless and tough; however, it was cooked perfectly temperature wise. The broccoli was very good and cooked well and the potato also nicely done. The shrimp appeared to have been sitting in an oven for some time and were very overdone and bland as well. When we got the bill my coworker was pleased with the price of his meal which had been very affordable and portions were quite large that he took some home. Mine had been taken off entirely, which I also greatly appreciated. So in sum, the mix up of the food was really no big deal. The restaurant went above and beyond to remedy that. The food; however, was not something I will be craving regularly, but I would not be opposed to visiting again sometime and trying something else.

I loved cheddars this is a go to place when me and my friends go out to eat! Service is good especially with his busy this place is!! Have never had a bad waiter. The food is good I am however disappointed at their menu change. I loved their pot roast and grown up grilled cheese which is no longer available and it was popular per wait staff. Overall great value for the amount of food you get! And great drinks!

  • Dan W.

Very nice building, good service, food is super cheap. It is a good value, except for the Club Sandwich. It is unusually small, it is basically half a Club, so that was kind of a rip off, but it tasted good.

If you like frozen food, warmed in a box, then the quality of food will not be startling. New management has this location transforming from "scratch" kitchen to "frozen" kitchen. Such a disappointment..

The food is ALWAYS great, as are the portion sizes! Our server Jane was wonderful! Very genuine, and she went above and beyond to accommodate our request for a favorite appetizer that had changed. Kudos Jane! Keep up the hard work :)

Great food and value. Staff attentive. Had ceaser pasta salad, soup and wrap combo, and buffalo chicken wrap at out table. All excellent. 2 in the afternoon and it was crowded. So they are doing something right.

After reading the other reviews, I can say that our experience was a million times better than some others have been (maybe they've worked out some of the kinks??) We ate at Cheddars for a birthday. I liked that the menu offers a lite and fit portion...all are under 570 calories. I tried the salmon on this portion of the menu. It was a little dry, but had a good flavor, and the steamed broccoli it came with was amazing! I could go back and just order a plate of that ;). The other people in our party really enjoyed their food selections as well. We shared the chocolate cake for dessert and it is HUGE...definitely enough for 4 people to share!! I would say the food was a 4 The service was also great. Our server was efficient and polite. We were there around the 5PM hour and they were quick at getting drinks and bringing out food. I had mentioned that I would be sharing my broccoli and a side of carrots with my toddler and they asked if it would be helpful to bring it out ahead of the rest of the food. I felt like the service was definitely a 5 It's just normal american food, but a nice place that meets all needs and in a convenient/central part of town. We will definitely be back.

Sigh... Started off with with our hostess seating us. And a grandparent in our party said. "I can see my car from here" The hostess's response, was Yes and you can watch me as I break into it" most of the party took it in good just but seriously. From their it went downhill, Dirty dishes for appetizer plates. Server forgeting 3 times, waters, items and other things. The ribs I had were cold like they had sat prepared for at least 30 minutes before being plated and served. Overall the onion rings were great but it was a very poorly executed dinner service I will avoid this location going forward

  • Allan L.

The food is standard and good. The customer service at this location is poor. Rude hostess and slow service, the 20 something "kids" working when I visited just did not know how to do customer service. I was amazed as I have visited many Cheddar's in several states. Something has changed in Lincoln but this place will not make it unless the management wakes up.

Don't order their smoked, four hours daily, Ribs on Sunday. They must be left over from Friday. The meat was gobbed with sauce and dry as the bones. Worst I've ever been served!!!! The fried Shrimp is very poor as well. Should serve Costco shrimp. Their food seems to be declining in quality since opening not long ago. Too bad!

  • T L.

Food was not that great. I ordered a Grill Chicken Alfredo and it came out so dry, not enough sauce on the noodle. The Alfredo sauce taste bland like the one that you get from the store.

Oh Cheddars, I wanted to like you soooo bad! I really really did. Time In: Friday night at 9:30pm Time Out: Friday night at 11:30 pm Pros: Ambiance, decor, professional waitstaff, extremely reasonably prices, fun fish tank in the middle of the wall, nice big cozy booths, and water/appetizer came out in timely manner. Cons: -45 minutes for drinks to come out -Bathrooms were despicable. Used paper towels were overflowing from the waste basket and kicked by waitstaff into the path that leads to the kitchen. Tip: get bigger trash can. -greater than 1 hour for food to come out. I didn't mind waiting for food, they seemed a bit busy. BUT I did expect for the food to be worth the wait. -Ribs were actually COLD! Oh my freakin goodness, my ribs were not luke warm, they were actually cold to the touch, like it had been pulled out of the refrigerator and plopped onto my plate. I waited a whole hour to be served 40 degree ribs? When I informed the waitress she was not surprised. She said the other table next to us complained of cold ribs too. WHAT? Someone else experienced the same thing and they still messed up? I really don't care that they just opened. I can understand some oopsies in the first few months, but I'm utterly disappointed by the food they expect their patrons to eat. Side note: The waitress said all staff were trained rigorously for 2 weeks prior to opening. The chain flew in people from other sites to provide proper education. Waitstaff were expected to be on time and professional, so people were sent home if their tie was on wrong or shirt was not ironed. Each employee was able to try all items on the menu. The waitress said their company knew how busy it would be in the opening months based on how well the other locations had done. Sooo.... to make the excuse that this place is performing poorly because they just opened? Well, I'm not buying it.

The food was good. Nothing spectacular. The artichoke dip was a table favorite. The service, however, was not satisfactory. The onion rings are hand battered and made to order making the cooking process a bit longer. The server failed to tell us this. Though we ordered our appetizers several minutes before our entrees, the entrees came out first followed shortly by the appetizers. At that point we didn't want the appetizers but took them anyway. My father-in-law's burger was cold. When he told the server, the server said he was sorry then quickly asked us if we wanted dessert. The lack of concern for he cold food was upsetting. Throughout the meal, our empty glasses and plates were ignored.

The fish tacos are amazing and i dont even like fish. They are also very cheap for the amount of food u get. Me and my girlfriend had margaritas and 2 entrees and it came up to about $25.

I ate here Wednesday evening & waiter said no Windsor coke drink, so ordered a Jack Coke. Wow they don't have a charcoal filter for chlorine! Could not taste the Jack. Then ordered a chicken steak. It came from a deep fat fryer as could tell. The coating fell off before could eat. Then i ordered same time a baked potato with graded cheese it came with sour cream then cheese on top. If wanted sour cream it normally a side you add. Not here. Over all bought 3 meals cost $40+ & what a disappointment! I been here 3 times before & never was this disappointed! Think they need to fix anything with soda fountain get a charcoal filter so taste what order. Then the cooks need to slow down so what order is done right. Then waiter had didn't even know a thing about place?

There is a tackiness about this restaurant that is both irritating and loveable at the same time. That said, the food was decent for the price, the service was horrendous. Allow me to elaborate. Upon being greeted by our waitress, we were asked if we'd ever been here before and responded "no". She then grabbed the drink/dessert menu book off the table and started instructing us on how to read it and where to find what. "Did we really need to have that explained to us?", I asked my dining companion. So we ordered our food, I can't remember what he had but I ordered the Smokehouse Burger. It wasn't until a few minutes later, I was re-reading the menu and realized that none of the burgers automatically comes with a side such as fries - odd. So I stopped our waitress, asked for a side of fries with my burger, and she said that is fine, the fries may just come a few minutes after the burger. Alrighty. Two minutes later a different waiter brings my side of fries before any of the other food gets there, which happened about 5 minutes later. Again, the food itself was good for the price. Nothing special, nothing awful either. When the waitress brought us our tickets which we asked for separately, she handed us the wrong tickets and we ended up paying for each other's food. All in all, the staff seemed confused, as if everyone was running amok with no clear direction or organization. The service wasn't horrible in the sense that staff was rude, they were very nice, they (and presumably management) lacked the fundamentals of food service 101.

    (2)
  • Nikki B.

Busy, but probably due to its newness. Service was a little slow, but our waitress was able to divide our bill into 4 separate tickets and had the to-go dessert packed up & ready for us to take back to the office. Food was good, but I think it's odd that the burgers don't come with a side; it's $1.79 to add one. Bathrooms were very clean & private.

Decided to got to Cheddar's to see what was cooking. (Metaphor on purpose). Had a short wait and was escorted to my table by a vapid 20-year-old who wanted to chat about the weather (he's trained to make small talk)....as I walked to the table, I spied the busboy drop a rag on the floor, pick it up, and wipe off my table with the same rag. Then we stood there as they prepared the table ... with a drink binder....no silverware, no napkin, no menu ... just a drink binder. Then I waited until the disorganized and overworked waiter showed up to grace me with his presence. I told him it'd be nice to have a menu and he agreed. So now I'm sitting at a dirty table, with no silverware and no menu ... but I am brought a glass of water and instant Cheddar's lemon aid.....god, what ambiance. The "food" came and it was C- factory food .... I ate part of it and fled. Here's why you should not go to Cheddar's: 1. The service isn't 2. The place is loud and filthy 3. The food is worse than horrible 4. The 20-something staff are morons and clowns However, if you hate someone and want to get even with them, have them go to Cheddar's palace of horrors. You'll be glad they did.

I know this is a new place in the area, and everyone wants to try it out. But it is gross. When my fiance and I were told that family members wanted to do dinner there, we e-mailed Cheddars ahead of time to ask what vegetarian options they offered. We never heard back. When I arrived, I discovered that there are almost none-- not great in a town like Lincoln, with a thriving vegetarian and vegan population. Instead of having the plain, steamed vegetables, which I could make myself at home, I made the unfortunate choice of trying the Spasagna. Do not try to the Spasagna. I had an upset stomach all night! In addition, my fiance ordered a meal that was described as an entree, and when it came out, it was tiny, more like a side dish. Plus, my mother-in-law's food was cold. But at least the wait was super long. Yes, it's cheap for a sit-down restaurant, but it's still not worth it.

    (1)
  • Laura K.

Second time I've come to this one in Lincoln. We waited 5 minutes for a table which was not bad. However, it took an hour for our food. My dad and my steaks were cold. My sisters and mom's food was ok, but a little on the cold side. For waiting that long for the food, it was obvious why it was cold. Cheddar's is very inconsistant.

The food quality was great, but our waiter was the least friendly waiter I have ever had. He made awkward jokes and was mad with our table. The manager apologized and promised to coach the waiter and saved our dining experience. I will go here again and highly recommend it to others, but how our waiter got a job here is beyond me..!

Went there on a busy night, sat and ate at the bar so I didn't have to wait 30 minutes for a table. The bar has a huge fish tank behind it so you can watch the fishies while your wait for you food lol. The drink specials are cheap and awesome. You can get a giant Texas tea drink (it's like a long island) for $3.50. Not sure why they needed 4 bartenders, I guess because a couple of them had no idea what was going on. Surprisingly, we ended up getting great service though. I ordered a steak, wanted it done medium, it came out well done. I know Cheddar's is not a steakhouse but if you're going to have steak on the menu then you should know how to cook them. The steak itself was kind of tough and not from it being done more than I would like. The people I was with said their food was good but nothing special. Everything is pretty cheap though, so I guess you get what you pay for.

i broke down, its right down the street from our house. my son wanted to go for his birthday so we did it. It was a monday night and a little late in evening. for a chain the food was decent. his chicken was actually great and very generous. The rest was very average and I think if you could go when not super busy, which for some reason it always is, its ok. so many local fresh food choices in town i dont understand why this places is so busy but for a chain its ok.

We are regulars at Cheddars in Pooler, Ga, so we had to try this new one and see if they're up to the test. Went in at 12:45. My wife ordered salad with ranch on the side because she's not a fan of a lot of ranch. It came out with ranch all over it. I had her send that back right away. It didn't come out with the croissant either and said she would bring it out right away. We did receive our food right at 10 min, for how busy it was, which I thought was great service. My broccoli was suppose to be steamed and soft. I would say it was partially steamed and not fully done. I didn't complain, just ate it. Then my wife's plane jane cheeseburger that she ordered came out all decked out with bacon, lettuce, tomatoes, and mustard. She didn't want to bother them but it kind of irked me. I told the waitress and she said "they probably grabbed the wrong one" (because a different waitress brought our food out). And at that time, I also asked for my croissant because she forgot about it already. So then my wife had to wait another 10 minutes for her plane jane cheeseburger. She ate half of it because the middle was just about raw. We didn't mention that either because we were done complaining and it won't go no where. We got our bill and that seemed like another 10-15 minutes for her to bring the bill back for us to sign. The food is good and has great potential, but still needs a lot of work. Hopefully management reads YELP.

My mother took me to lunch here, we both were first timers and let me just say every single part of our experience was a major let down. They served me a chicken sandwich with more tomato then chicken and it still had the end parts most chefs cut off, seriously half a whole freakin tomato was on my sandwich, really unappetizing and when I did tell the waitress, the managers were super rude about it. They said that's how you roast a tomato, whole I guess. Ever since that visit me and my 2 year old son have had nausea and diarrhea and we were the only ones that had bites of my tomato chicken sandwich, coincidence, maybe, all I know is it will be a very long time, possibly never that I will try this place again, which is really sad cause it's always fun to have new, exciting places to try in this town, am i right??? Seriously sickened and disappointed.

Pricey, but the food was superb. The Monte Cristo (I believe that's what it's called) was a fantastic sandwich. Waiter was polite and incredibly well verse in the menu, even offering suggestions of which side would best serve the meal. I'll be sure to make it a priority to stop here next time I'm in Lincoln.

Cheddar's is a tasty restaurant, they can be hit and miss, however they are always more than willing to take care of you. I've been there several times. The first time I arrived, I looked at the bar menu, and was ASTOUNDED by the ridiculously low prices on their drinks. $3.50 for a jumbo margarita that is easily 8 dollars anywhere else? Fantastic. Then I saw their menu. Also cheap! Every time I have gone, I have ordered their queso with beef, and it was delicious. For $3.99 you would expect it to be terrible? But it was great. I got the Cajun Pasta then. Which naturally comes with sausage, chicken, and some sort of seafood. I hate seafood, so I talked to the waiter. Our server talked to the manager, and they substituted extra chicken for me, it was really good, BUT CRAZY SPICY. I understand it's cajun, but a lot of restaurants that are chain style, don't really get that emphasis. Cheddar's does. :) I also have ordered the Spagsana, their signature meal, and that was one of the best things I have ever eaten, in my life. I have only had one bad experiance, when I ordered Chicken & Waffles. The waffle came out dry, and the chicken was too hard. I told our server, and immediately the chef strolled out and removed out plates and said he'd take them off our bill, and even remake us new food free of charge. I was impressed with his tenacidy, although I opted for some potato soup rather than a meal. The best potato soup I have ever had. The low prices pretty much made up for the bad meal. The manager only made me pay for my partner & I's drinks. After he removed our waffles, he went a little crazy with the bill. Side salad, potato soup, 4 margaritas, and an onion ring sampler came to $24.00, it was delightful. All in all, I am quite excited to Cheddar's later tonight!! :)
