It was great to see that they had a lot of locally sourced foods & drinks on their menu and the portion sizes were huge! Service was awesome and the outside dining by the river was nice. My only complaint is that if you were to sit inside, the noise is really loud, but sitting outside the first night, and getting take-out the second, solved that. We ended up eating here twice while on our vacation, and so did our neighbor in the B&B because the food was good quality and reasonably priced. I'd definitely try it again!

Came here with our friends, who are locals of Lakeside, Montana, and enjoyed some nice beers while waiting for our food. I ordered the prime rib brew bread (which seems to be a staple here). The brew bread, I imagine is made out of beer, and appears like a wrap but with a really nice, hearty texture. Everything was delicious and the portions were ginormous for my standards. i saved half of the brew bread for the next day, and then was able to split it with a friend as our lunch the next day. Hopefully that gives you an idea of how huge this thing was. I think it was only $9 or something, maybe $11 maximum. I should move there and spend all of my days on Flathead Lake, and all of my nights at Tamarack.

Seriously best fish and chips I've ever had! (And I've had a lot living on the coast in CA) The fish melted in my mouth like butter- the tarter sauce was amazing with a hint of sweetness that tasted like cinnamon. Their beer battered fries had a seasoning that begged to be eaten. Even after eating my fill (and being too full) I had to eat one more! I tried the Sip and Go Naked on tap. It's an unfiltered wheat beer with apricot. I'm not the biggest fan of fruity beer, but it was light and fresh and partnered well with the fish- I thoroughly enjoyed it! My husband got the buffalo chicken strips which I tried. Also a great go to! They are hand battered perfection with a perfectly spicy buffalo sauce drizzled on top (and for dipping on the side), with crumbled blue cheese over top. Our server Rachel was attentive, friendly, and helpful. We had our four kids and she not only made us feel welcomed with the chaos, she suggested we only order 2 kids pizzas instead of three, knowing it was more than enough food for all. The atmosphere is fun, loud, and energetic. Perfect for a group of friends- or a family of 6! Highly recommend the Tamarack Alehouse!

Great service, great beer, but the food is pretty mediocre. For beer, we had the white IPA, which was delicious. For food, we got the fish tacos, which was deep fried fish thrown into cold tortillas with cold shredded cheese tossed on top, next to a side of cold tortilla chips. The salad was pretty average too. If you want big portions though, this is one place that fits that bill.

Great Beer. Amazing food. And across from Flathead lake. Love this place and can't wait to come back. The huckleberry mustard dressing is really good on salads. I wish they smoked their wings and ribs. Other than that - great place in a great town.

This is a great place!! The ambience inside and out you can't beat it. Great beer and food!!! They have a great beer selection all made onsite. They have a brewmaster that is a biochemist who has a great taste for beer. Great place!

  • Scott M.

Solid food and beer selections. Fun place to watch a game, but get there early! Almost always a wait on the busy side of Flathead. Save room for the skillet cookie :)

  • Will M.

Great beer and a great diverse menu. The salmon with huckleberry balsamic vinagrette is phenomenal. Also had a special of buffalo flank steak that was equally amazing. Both were paired with green beans and cheddar mashed potatoes. Haven't tried the pizzas but the ones I saw coming out the kitchen looked quite good. Good portion sizes that are not overwhelming but more than adequate. Beer wise there is something for everyone. The Yardsale Amber is a good start and safe middle of the road bet. For those looking for some higher octane the 'Old Stache Whiskey Barrel Porter is phenomenal and almost a meal in itself. One of the top options in Lakeside.

Stopped for lunch on the 4th. The place was packed but the service was excellent. Our table ordered the shredded pork burrito ( yummy), the fish and chips (French fries with garlic and blue cheese), the fish tacos and the chicken tenders. Everything was great and the portions were huge. The Hat Trick Hop IPA was tasty. I would definitely eat here again.

We were camping on Flathead Lake. Beautiful! Went to Tamarack's based on friend recommendation for my wife's 50th bday. The venue was fantastic! Inside, upstairs and outside on patio. We watched a rare but amazing storm blow through ( we were just inside off the patio). Food and service were amazing ( thanks Brianna!) appetizers were great, main courses were great and the pound of cookie dough cake, #1. We went three days in a row!

I like to go for lunch more than dinner. It seems they are not as busy and can take the little extra time for every dish. I first ate at the Tamarck in missoula before I found out there was one in lakeside. Love the beer and the food. The lunch and dinner specials are always good.

Good beer! Had the blue cheese fries, they were also good but excessive amount of blue cheese.

We spent the weekend in Lakeside, and had to check out Tamarack. A rather popular joint among locals and visitors alike, and I understand why. This place feels like a restaurant you would find in a nice part of a large, warm city. They have a decent sized patio with outdoor seating right next to a small stream. The owner clearly spent some money making Tamarack beautiful, I was very impressed. While the decor was well done, sadly, so was the burger my wife ordered. This however, is the only reason I am doing four stars instead of five. If we order a medium burger, it should not be charred to well done. I ordered the fish tacos, they were delicious and filling. I highly recommend them. On to the beer... It was superb. I tried the White IPA, a beautiful ale similar to Chainbreaker from Deschutes, but actually (IMHO) better. Tamarack had 5 seasonal beers on tap, something I wish more breweries would do. I ended up going with the Blond Ale because it was quite warm outside. The blond was terrific. I would love to see a Tamarack come to the Pearl District in Portland someday, it would do very well here.

Fantastic place to eat! Yummy beers, great service & staff, and the food is amaaazing! I also converted the Doc Holliday, tea instead of lemonade, huckleberry heaven.

  • Marisa S.

Started with a pita plate for $9... So worth it! Huge portion! Includes a bit of tomato/garlicky/artichoke pieces, lots of cucumber pieces, and lot of pita slices. Yum! Their garlic fries are tasty. I got the special smoked salmon and ravioli-- again was surprised by such a big portion! Not the 4-pieces of ravioli that I'm accustomed to in nice restaurants. And great flavors! Fish and chips was great. Our server was Emily and she was appropriately attentive and very nice.

  • Lisa S.

Outstanding, as usual!!! Thank you Sam for the excellent service and amazing food! We stop here every time we come to the Flathead valley. Kids and adults both love it, excellent atmosphere and even better food!!!

  • Denise W.

Tamarack has a great atmosphere, great beer, and great food! Sam was our server and he was super accommodating with the kids as well as recommending beer choices. Our table had the garlic bleu fries as a starter and they disappeared so fast we weren't sure Sam actually brought them to the table. The kids devoured them. Our menu items varied: the Brie Bleu Burger, Prime Rib Dip Sandwich Pastrami Sandwich and the Verde Chicken Enchiladas. Everything was fantastic! Portions were so large we all took go boxes and not to take home for dogs! The kids were planning their lunches to take to school tomorrow with the leftovers!

Great place. Awesome beer and selection. Though, someone mentioned there are vegetarian options. Aside from hummus, there are none at all. I had a vegan pizza made and it's still great but, if your expecting anything else, sadly, keep driving. Otherwise, it's worth just getting hummus and pizza is totally worth it. The beer is great, nice modern upscale yet approchable decor. Rustic and industrial, awesome for this area!

  • Tyler A.

The rustic atmosphere was perfect for the location. We are outside, right by a slow moving stream the trickled by as we ate. Our server, Molly, was extremely nice and not intrusive at all. I tried the yard sale ale and the imperial bourbon stout, which were delicious and not over priced. The tamarack is family friendly, but also suited for all occasions. I had a great time, 5/5.

  • Missy Z.

I am SO disappointed. All I heard was great things including from my local friends! Our party arrived in separate groups and the server just couldn't handle that. She offered me a taste of beer (which was very good!) but then it was 10 minutes before I could catch her again and ask for a full one. Then some people got food and others (including me) had to wait an additional 39 minutes and never received our food until 1 person cancelled order. I was so excited and so disappointed. What people did receive they really enjoyed but the poor service so overshadowed I had to give one star

  • Carole D.

The beer and food here are both exceptional for a brew pub. I highly recommend. I had a "special" sandwich called the Red White and Blue Wrap. It was the 4th of July. Chicken breast sautéed with Hat Trick IPA buffalo sauce, veggies and Daily's Montana Bacon and Blue cheese dressing. It was amazing with just the right amount of heat. The Hubs had the Boss Hawg BBQ sandwich. I didn't taste it but he loved it and the beer battered fries. The IPA's we sampled were soooo good too

Whenever we rent the cabin vrbo.com/706462 we always swing into Tamarack for good food and good brew!

Beautiful setting nestled in tall trees across from Flathead Lake. You can sit on the deck when it's nice and watch a stream dance by. Food is delicious, super huge portions!

We ate at Tamarack last night. We ate there last year also when we were in town. After experiencing the worst dining experience of my life at Acqua Pazza down the street, this was a refreshing change. The server was very friendly and attentive (Kirsten) and the food was great. It's no wonder their parking lot is always packed. The aforementioned restaurant could learn a thing or two about customer service and food quality from Tamarack. Well done and we will be back! :-)

Great beer, outstanding food. Friendly service. Would like to spend a few hours here with a designated driver.

  • Diane C.

Amazingly good chicken Nachos. Friends from Flathead Lake took us here and, though we had a little bit of a wait, we got a great table for 8 outside by a lovely running creek. The service was wonderful. Fast and friendly. We ordered a couple of flights of their beers and were not disappointed. My favorites are always the fruity ones, but everyone found something they really liked. Everyone in our group really liked what they ordered and the portions were very large. I don't know when I will be back to Lakeside, MT, but I would definitely revisit the Tamarack Alehouse and Grill.

  • Brook H.

We have been here twice and have tried many of their great beers. Don't forget to bring your growler. Bear Bottom and Yard Sale were our favourites. Every plate that comes out of the kitchen looks amazing. We tried the garlic blue cheese fries and they were delicious and sized for sharing! We have had a Cobb and Caesar salad as well which were both large and tasty. Sit outside if the weather is nice. Lovely creekside patio. We will come back! Tell 'em Lanny sent you! Calgarians might get lucky and see a well loved mustachioed man around.

Amazing. Top to bottom. My wife and I vacationed to Lakeside for a nice quiet get away from the hustle and bustle of our corporate jobs and the area was exactly what we had hoped for. That being said, when we needed a little boost in the energy and excitement department, Tamarack was our place. The food was unreal. Everything we had was literally finger-licking good. The pizzas, the wings, the nachos, the desserts---Everything! We were in Lakeside for 6 nights and I think we spent 4 of them at Tamarack :) The atmosphere is awesome and the live music was so enjoyable. We just wish we could have taken it home with us. We can't wait to get back to this wonderful place tucked away in paradise.

I have lived in Montana 37 years and always support businesses in Montana. I am proud to tell the world about Tamarack brewery. The beers are awesome, the service prompt and friendly and the food...I crave!

  • Aidan B.

Dang, this place deserves a 5! Amazing food and drinks, plus great atmosphere. I can't say enough about how great this restaurant is. Unfortunately, I can't give the Tamarack five stars. First, and least, of all, there was only one server during lunch rush, which was a pain. However, the inadequate service doesn't hold a candle to the main problem of the Tamarack. The Men's bathroom was clean and fit the general theme of the restaurant. However, the one men's bathroom stall doesn't have a door. How stupid can the managers be?!?!? Men have to crap too!!! I was so uncomfortable in bathroom that I wasn't able to continue eating... I highly recommend going to the Tamarack, but make sure to potty first ;)

great place good food good service happy employees! I live in the area glad to have them in the hood!

  • Donald M.

Went in to get my growlers filled and found some of the rudest bartenders I have ever met. Most microbreweries in Montana ( and I have been to a lot ) have the best people working at them, this one seemed to busy to take my 60 dollar beer order. I thought it would have the same atmosphere as Missoula. It does not.

Incredible beer and pub food! They have been consistent in their beer and food quality and service since day one. We are locals and have been regulars since opening day. Over the years their reputation has grown and they are a local institution. They consistently nail all of the fundamentals of a great restaurant.

This places has it all, great food with an excellent selection of fresh brewed beers. The menu has a lot of items. My favorite part was they give beer samples and had 4 different IPAs

Great food. Great beer. Great location. So blessed to have this world class brewery in our small town. Be sure to stop by on Tuesdays night's for trivia! Creek side dining is great in the summer! This place is the heart of the community!

Best Brewery in the Flathead! Food and Beer are Amazing! Huge portions and a great friendly helpful staff! You won't be disappointed with this choice!

  • Tabitha P.

I ordered the spinach salad with the jalapeño-honey dressing.. It was easily the best thing I've eaten in a restaurant in a long time. I'm a food fanatic and I couldn't believe how good this was. Perfectly balanced and fresh. The rest of my party was equally pleased. Our waitress was patient and sweet while we deliberated over all of the delicious possibilities. Will be coming here again and again!

Great food great beer!!! Apricot seasonal is amazing. Coming back during the warmer seasons

  • Frank W.

Stopped in to check out their beer. I ordered the sampler tray and got 13 beers, nice selection. The beers are very good probably the best on flathead lake. I'll be back again when I'm in the area.

Thank you Tamarack for being SOOO consistent with your food and Beer! My family has been coming to the Tam since opening Day and they don't disappoint. Great Beer, Great team of workers and the Family that owns the business are all Quality people! It's so nice to have this place be apart of our Valley!

  • Ryan E.

I have eaten there 3 times now. The pizza looks great on the menu but falls short on taste. The burger with the tiger prawns and sausage on it, is good but is hard to eat. Later when I got home I felt sick and it was not because I over ate. I am not a beer drinker but the place is known for its beers. My wife loves their apricot beer. The customer service there is exeptional. If I can help it, I will never return, mainly because I do not care for the food as a whole.

    (2)
  • Lorraine F.

Wow, what a gem!! We will be back in the summer. Beers good. . Chicken enchiladas and fish and chips equally good. Portions large so you can easily share a dinner. Blue fries great. Service snappy and friendly.

Delicious Food and Beer! We make it a must stop every year when we are at the lake.

  • Greatwhite D.

Come for the beer and great food is a bonus. Solid, quality menu items. You can't go wrong with anything here. I've supported these guys from day one. Great HAPPY HOUR! Boss Hawg BBQ, Pizzas, Burgers, Fish & Chips, Fish Tacos...It's all good. Ambiance is better than just about anywhere. If you're looking for a dive, the lake is across the street. Chef Roger has some skills!

    (5)
  • Mindi M.

I had the Cobb salad!! It was excellent!!!!! Yummy honey mustard dressing!!!! Another person in our party had the gyro flatbread and she didn't care for the tzarziki sauce... She didn't eat much of it...others had the prime rib sandwich and absolutely loved it!! Apricot ale (sip and go naked) was said to be awesome!!!!

    (4)
  • Christina S.

Great beer (we had the year-round and the seasonal sampler), great food (we tried soups, salads and burgers), and great service (Molly was our server)...perfect lunch! We were going to continue on to Kalispell for lunch, but so glad we stopped here instead. The outdoor seating was warm and comfortable, with a nice view.

    (5)
  • Jennifer S.

We tried the sampler of 11 beers (yes, an 11 beer sampler...a little bit of overkill) and didn't really like any of them...if we had to choose the amber was our favorite. However, the deck was great...very relaxing to sit out on a September day next to the creek.

    (3)
  • Hank F.

Awesome beer, awesome food! There is a reason why this place is ALWAYS busy. The atmosphere is busy and loud with a big fire in the fireplace to make you feel cozy and warm. In the summer there is outside seating next to the creek. They serve some of the best beers I have ever tasted and are always adding new ones to the list. The food is truly the best around. You really can't call it "Bar Food", even though it is. It goes way beyond that. The fish and chips are some of the best I have ever eaten. The burrito always makes me laugh when they bring it to the table. I'm thinking there is no way one human being can eat that, it's so large. I can honestly say that I have never had a bad meal here, everything on the menu is good!

    (5)
  • Norma B.

This comes up as pet friendly. They do not allow dogs on the patio. Ours had to stay in the car.

    (4)
  • Braelin S.

Great beer selection - I love the Sip & Go Naked Apricot Ale, but their IPAs are also killer. On my last visit we ordered the nachos - holy portion!! But sooo good, add the extras (pork and something else? Guac maybe). The burgers are great and I can't stay away from the French dip. The service is always super friendly, and the bartender was super cool about letting us hang out for 15 minutes after close to finish our beers and watch the end of a close football game. Check them out!

Great service-- Awesome beer and food selections-- We hit the Tamarack a few times everytime we visit Lakeside!

    (5)
  • Sandra S.

Who needs dinner? The beer sampler will fill you right up! This was our third trip to Tamarack and the second time I've had the sampler. This time, it was 13 beers! We knew when we booked our long weekend getaway that we'd be making a stop at Tamarack. In fact, it was our only venture out for food and it didn't disappoint. The Boss Hawg BBQ is so good, my husband has ordered it every time we've visited. After a taste of his last time, I knew I had to order my own this time. SO GOOD! If there is a drawback, it is the long wait to get a table during the dinner rush, but it is worth it. We hovered around the bar and snagged two stools as another couple vacated. If you choose to hover, order a beer and enjoy the wait, but PLEASE, don't spill your beer down the back of a customer who is trying to eat. Yes, that happened to us. The people of Lakeside have quite the gem in their little town. Oh, and if you go, tip well! We were sitting where people came up to order beer while they were waiting or to pick up their carry our orders and I was appalled at the small tips (or complete lack thereof) that people left. The guys and gals behind the bar were busting arse to provide fast and friendly service and they obviously weren't appreciated that night.

This is an American Bar and Grill, polite friendly service, great menu, fine beer selection, that's it people.

    (5)
  • Jeff V.

The only thing negative to say about the Tamarack is, that is too far from my house. If I lived near this brewery then I would probably be there every night. Great space, outdoor seating under a big cottonwood with a cool stream flowing by, 2 levels, fireplace, monitors, darn good food, and GREAT brews. Yard Sale Ale & Sip and Go Naked are hands down my favorite Tamarack brews.

    (5)
  • D.M B.

The Yardsale is a great all around beer. They made a seasonal scotch ale that was outstanding! Food wise the fish tacos are the best thing on the menu followed by the Nachos and garlic blue cheese fries. We've tried a few other things outside that and just felt like "meh"

  • Issie S.

We have now eaten here and it was OK. The beer was good and a really decent size glass of wine. We sat upstairs and were given a table that we moved from as it was so dirty. We mentioned it to a waitress who wiped it down with a cloth. However, it would take a lot more than that. The table was sticky and the dirt ground in so that when you scraped it the table became a totally different color underneath. The dirt was very bad. Having moved to a cleaner table we ordered the Fish and Chips. The batter on the fish was very tasty, but way too thick. The fish was perfectly cooked. Chips were not great. They looked nice and brown and crisp, but were very dry. We have yet to find anywhere in flathead that makes really good fish and chips. Maybe we have been spoilt by having eaten Fish and chips in the UK and Australia.

  • Connie C.

I really love this mircobrewery. Since I live close by, I've eaten almost everything on the menu and their selection covers everything from low fat, delicious pasta (Andra's Pasta) to amazing pizzas, to their very special blue-brie burger (my absolute favorite burger in the Flathead Valley) to a salad with nuts and fruit and a soft chunk of brie nestled on top of a fresh crispy bed of spinach. As for the beer, ask for the darkest beer on the menu and ad a shot of espresso....then prepare yourself for a new addition. Deeeelish.

This is really the place to eat in Lakeside. Excellent food and service; these are some of my favorite burgers in Montana. Very friendly and professional staff and a great atmosphere. You won't be disappointed!

  • Jamie B.

Great meal. Nice portions for everyone. Kids meals were very large and had vegetable stick option instead of fries. My son is a pizza fanatic and loved the pizza here. My husband ordered the rib eye and I has salmon, both ordered plain because we are doing the Whole30 program. Both were nicely cooked. Salad was fresh and that didn't seem to use the ordinary cafeteria salad mix. Service was really good. Live music was playing the night we went which was fun for kids. Prices are moderate but definitely fair for what you get. We would go back.

We were unaware this place had opened and my wife and I decided to give it a try. Absolutely awesome, unbelievable actually! 20 years in the food business myself takes a lot to leave a lasting impression, Wakeboard Draft beer was great, spinach artichoke appetizer was the best we had ever had not to mention I had a ribeye steak that was perfectly marked and cooked to perfection, fish and chips was very good, portion size are very good and staff was great! A must stop if your near this location A+++++

  • Jay C.

Good food !! Had lunch and a dinner appetizer here later the same day. Cool room, semi industrial hybrid. The back patio is cool with a small creek running below. pretty attentive staff, but replacing the lunchtime hotties behind the bar, with guys for the afternoon shift, would not be my preference. The flatbread appetizer is first rate !!! when I saw Sundried Tomatoes on the description, there was not a lot more to talk about. Burgers are real good, not epic, but real good. They had a real good pizza menu too, using brew grain for pizza dough, I LOVE THAT STYLE !!! LOTS of stuff on the menu I would like to try, but too far away for a daily visit. ..next year..... The beers I tried were all good, a solid variety, I'll get a room in walking distance, and drink too much next time I'm here..

Stopped in awhile back for lunch. Brew house is very nice but in kind of a weird spot, it took us a little bit to find it. They have a good looking food menu I had the whitefish tacos they were very good. Beer was pretty good had the amber and ipa not the best beer ever but very good. Will be back.

  • Mathew B.

The beer is good, the food not so good. I guess if you drink enough beer, anything tastes good. Anyway, on to my latest experience. My wife and I live about 1/2 mile from Tamarack. We go here sometimes when neither of us feel like cooking. I ordered a Blue & Brie cheeseburger, medium well. Well, the burger patty was on the verge of charcoal and the bun was hard as a rock. Also ordered the spinach, artichoke heart and cheese dip. Little did I know it had red onions in it (which I despise). It didn't list red onions (as an ingredient) on their menu. Our dinner bill totaled out just under $40 (food, no drinks). Very disappointing, considering what I paid for it...

Fantastic home brewed beer selection! Happy Hour deals are great! $3 pints, can't beat that. Service was helpful and friendly. Just had some finger food, but their fries were unique, very tasty, and cheap! (blue cheese, garlic)

Awesome beer here! Really good burgs n sandos, killer fish tacos made with giant whitefish filets, and they always seem to have good lunch specials around $10. AND they have NFL Sunday Ticket. Right at the bottom of blacktail road so it's good for après if u like skiing blue-squares.

Do yourself a favor and eat here! Food is excellent, beer is really good, and staff is friendly. 4 stars and not 5 because both times I've been here, I've requested no mayo or aioli and both times they've left it on.
