Enjoyed our meal there. My wife and I had the rack of lamb consisting of 8 chops, more than enough for one person. The twice baked potatoes were light yet creamy and the dressing on the salad was house made. The house made gelato capped off a wonderful meal.

So we decided to go here because it was the only Italian place within like 50 miles and we got lucky cause they had a yelp deal. As far as the food gos it was absolutely amazing, and the servers were fun. Though the wait for the food was over an hr, and was extremely expensive the yelp deal made it worth it... Though I would not go here if not on a yelp deal.

John and Ben provided bar service to wedding reception and they were special. Their professionalism and good nature added a great deal to a wonderful occcasion.

Judging from the other 4-5 star reviews, maybe we were here on a bad night. But our seafood and pasta was overcooked and unappetizing. The sole was a thin overcooked wafer, with an undercooked doughy stuffing. The seafood fettuccine was overcooked bits and pieces in a gray-ish oily sauce, mixed in with rubbery shrimp and mealy mussels. I left wishing I hadn't just spent $90 and feeling sick. :(

Had a very nice meal here on a Sunday evening -- one of the few places open on Sunday night in the area. The crab stuffed sole with pesto gnocchi was great. Was happy to see that I could order and enjoy a Birra Moretti Lager.

Oh Caffe Firenze, you have successfully brought Florence Italy to Florence, Montana. Your dishes have the utmost authentic flavors from Italy. I've been to Italy and you have created the dishes to its flavor destination. The pasta tasted soo fresh! The servers welcomed me as if they've known me forever. Who needs to go to Italy when you have it in Montana. For your quiet space nestled within the mountains, you are a gem to find! I sat in your pleasant restaurant and was filled with memoirs, while watching a montage of your trip to Italy. Every year, I'll make it a point to have dinner at your restaurant. Prossima volta!

Continues to be great. Cannot understand the two one star ratings. Of course I have no sympathy for someone who orders scallops in rural Montana and has the gall to complain that they were frozen and not good. Also for the couple that orders late at night expecting a gourmet experience. Owners recently returned from another Italy trip and have added and changed menu items. Make sure you come prior to 11:45am and after 12:45pm. All tables are full by noon. What a gem for the Bitterroot Valley.

We can always count on a very good meal with reasonable prices here, I must say that the lamb chops and chevre chicken are supurb and this same meal at home in Arizona would have been double the price. High for the Bitterroot, but the quality is too. There's no canned green beans here! It's small and cozy - on purpose. Just 13 tables and usually full during prime times. We usually go early or later to insure quick seating. However, there is no competition for quality between Missoula and Hamilton.....so a little wait is fine. And - we actually prefer the cane chairs to the benches - but everyone has their own preference. Very nice wine list - especially for a small restaurant. Be sure to try the homemade gelato. It's wonderful! Oh - and John is a wonderful host as well!

Caffe Firenze has outstanding Italian food for reasonable prices. My dining companion and I enjoy Italian food immensely, and this establishment has some great food for semi-rural Montana. We have enjoyed comparable Italian food in Boston and other locations. The menu is somewhat limited (similar to many high-end restaurants), but changes seasonally, and never disappoints. Their wine selection is outstanding and their wine tasting dinners are incredible. I second Mitch K.'s statement - What a gem for the Bitterroot.

Been here a couple of times and have enjoyed previous visits. This last occasion was my least favorite the food was ok till I found a piece of plastic wrap baked into my scalloped potatoes. I mentioned it to my server who said she would tell the kitchen. No discount offered or even an apology. Nice idea not great execution.

Food was good. Plastic on our friends potatoes. No effort made to make the situation right. The roasted Corn Green chili ravioli was very good.

Private Investigations Case 2014-02_CFmt End transcript 6:15:23 pm_02_01_14 6:14 pm Subjects are seen leaving the restaurant. The wine bottle is now empty and definitively can be identified as Rodano Chianti Classico DOCG, 2008 vintage. Cash payment, tip included. Gracious goodbyes to wait staff and owner. Slow walk of the well-fed and the ski-weary. Vehicles leave the parking area, heading North. To Missoula, one suspects. It is now dark in the Bitterroot Valley, but at Caffe Firenze, much warmth and welcome remains in abundance. Yes, they have found the sustenance both so urgently needed. The prognosis is good. They are likely to live to ski another day. 5:58 pm The pasta plates, now completely empty, are removed. Desert offered, then declined, but politely. Subjects continue to engage deeply in conversation, aided by the wine. Surrounding tables are now full, complicating audio surveillance. Will risk getting closer to continue the investigation. 5:25 pm Pasta dishes are served: fettuccine Alfredo with chicken, Sicilian spaghetti meatball. House-made sauce. Subjects are clearly satisfied with their orders. Water carafe has been refilled. Wine, clearly red - possibly Italian in origin - remains in both glasses. 5:12 pm Side salads are served. Mixed greens, balsamic vinaigrette and ranch, freshly baked bread, balsamic and olive oil dipping plate. Conversation continues, both subjects visibly animated, yet also somewhat restrained. The rigors of the ski trail are still very much in evidence. The food and drink and congenial atmosphere appear, however, to be working. 4:53 pm Pizza arrives. Bianco #4. Feta, Kalamata, Baby Spinach, Artichoke Hearts. Wine is opened by owner ahead of time, to give it time to breathe. Subjects thank him, and continue their conversation. 4:38 pm Extended discussions ensue over whether to order from the lunch menu or the dinner (only starts at 5 pm). Owner is open and friendly, offers both options. Wine and pizza ordered, plus entrees. A double cappuccino has already arrived to the obvious relief of Subject #2. 4:25 pm Subjects #1 & #2 exit their vehicles, with visible slowness and audible groans. They have survived the ski trip, it would seem. But barely. Slowly they enter the cafe, on tottering legs. But their spirits appear unfazed and defiant. Will they find the sustenance that they so desperately need? 3:15 pm Subjects are seen leaving the Lolo Pass visitor center. Skis and other gear are stored in their vehicles. While still haggard-looking, they have changed clothes and are walking now without limping. Much. 2:37 pm Continuation of surveillance: Lee Creek campground, outside temperature 22 F, considerable snow cover on the ground. Subject #1 finally arrives on skis and a heavily-loaded pack. Subject #2 is now seen, walking to the second car. They both look tired from their ordeal. What must have happened in the last 6.5 hours? One can only guess. They depart, headed back for the Pass. 8:03 am Surveillance commences. Lolo Pass, outside temperature 10F. Subjects #1 and #2 have left the vehicle and headed for the ski area. They have packed for what looks be a long day trip. Much new snow in evidence. What will this portend for the trail, one can only speculate. Lee Creek and the Wagon Mountain saddle, they are not for the timid of heart, not with so much unpacked new snow. One can only speculate at this point about their chances of survival. Let us hope that they return, and that when they do, they will quickly find excellent food and wine to sustain them.

My son and I wanted to have a visit over a good dinner. Turns out we had a great visit over and wonderful dinner. Thank you for the time you invested in preparing our food. It was and will always be a place I will return to because of this one experience.

We were in the Florence a few times over the past month and always noticed a large turnout at this place and decided to give it a try. The atmosphere is very nice as is the waitstaff, they were very attentive and we were seated promptly and given water. I ordered a beer and my wife ordered a glass of wine (this was the best part of the evening) We did not order any appetizers. The host saw me looking at the spaghetti and meatballs and said they were really big and delicious. My wife ordered the pasta dish with scallops and capers after the host told her they were very large and fresh. My dish was okay but the 3 small meatballs and small amount of pasta with some kind of marinara sauce that was very bland just didn't cut it. My wife's dish was horrible, the scallops were small and tasteless and the entire dish had a half inch of oil on the bottom of it (NASTY). She didn't finish hers and I didn't finish mine. This is a small place in a small town and maybe the people think that Italian food is suppose to be prepared in this manner, but please change your menu or chef.

We go here often as a family. When they first opened their food was phenomenal.. its different now, but its still good.. and great for the lack of other choices in Florence. The only reason I wouldnt give it 5 stars is because the wait time is always long and the seating is awful.. they have straw bottom chairs and they just arent comfortable.. be sure and get one of the bench tables along the side. Ive eaten breakfast lunch and dinner there.. I think breakfast is my favorite.

The inlaws always bragged this place up. A couple of weeks ago we went there with them. The highlight of the evening was they welcomed us even though technically they had just closed. The food was as follows: Out of my first two picks, could be because it was closing time. Ordered the Steak rare, it was well done. The veggies were either steamed or boiled with absolutely no flavor and mushy. The starch was supposedly Scalloped or gratin Potatoes. What it really was was four slices of almost raw potatoes with some cheese on top. Oh, and there was a chunky tomato covering on the steak that was ice cold. Normally this would have been sent back immediately, but my wife didn't want to embarrass her dad. So I had a couple of bites and then feigned being full. The wife and her dad ordered pasta dishes. I will admit the flavor was decent but the amount of food vs the price was ridiculous. Witch is my most common complaint about Italian places. MEH is also right about the salads, they are a complete joke. I hope they can fix these problems because as those of us who live in this know the eats can be pretty far and in between for great places to go. BTW, a bad cook is a bad cook. It doesn't matter where you learned to cook.

I had a chicken dish that had a tasteless red sauce covered by cheese that was the consistency of soft plastic. The chicken itself was dry and also extremely bland.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
