Great breakfast, REAL OJ, and a waitress who worked her butt off to serve about 8 tables with no help in any way. I had perfectly cooked eggs over easy, not a burn mark on them, and you *never* see that these days. My wife's eggs benny was good too. Definitely the better sit-down option in town.

Friendly diner feel. The Reuben was tasty and the fries were just right. I wish strawberries had been in season, for the pie.

Pretty good service even tho we showed up 5 minutes before close. Dinner was mediocre cafe style fare... Frozen and plain Jane. Way better for breakfast.

arriving in Ennis at 6:30 PM on Wednesday evening, my wife and I had few options and she picked the Ennis Cafe. In retrospect, an empty, hungry stomach for a couple more hours was far preferable than the poor quality food, poorly prepared. I had the ribeye steak.. asked for medium, got medium rare.. and the entire half eaten meal ran right through my system. My wife ordered the buffalo burger and got a greasy, uneatable mess. I realize the logistics challenges in small town cooking. I saw the warning signs early: poor housekeeping, diffident staff, few patrons, mostly overweight and old. That I stayed is partly my fault, but what they did to me is unforgivable. My phone was unusable in all of MT (THANKS!! SPRINT!!) so I was unable to find the Yelp reviews that would have saved me.

We stopped by the Ennis Cafe as we drove through the little town. It was seat yourself, so my family sat down and I visited the restroom. When I came back a few minutes later I assumed I'd see menus on the table with water. I sat down and my husband informed me they hadn't even been greeted yet. Meanwhile, there was another party who arrived after us who was getting menus and drink orders. I figured the waitress would hit us next and I would forgive the oversight. But instead she floated past us to the table behind us where she took their order. She didn't look at us, didn't say she'd be right with us. Nothing. Then she brought the drinks to the people who arrived after us and walked by us again. I grabbed my purse and held it in my lap. I tried to get someone's attention, but no one there would even look at us. I have never felt so invisible in my life. It wasn't overly busy in there. There were a lot of employees roaming in and out of the kitchen. I can really see no excuse for how we were treated. And we are pretty forgiving people with service. After another nearly five minutes of waiting, I grabbed my purse and said we were leaving. I looked at the waitress as we walked out and said, "Thanks so much for your help," which of course got not response. We walked down the street to Yesterday's Soda Fountain and Restaurant. Decent food with decent service, but leaps and bounds better than what we encountered at the Ennis Cafe. Just bizarre. Wish I could give it zero stars.

SPOKEN DIRECTLY TO ME EMPLOYEE " YOUR BETTER OFF GOING TO THE GROCERY STORE AND BUYING A FROZEN PIE AND BAKING IT YOURSELF." The absolute WORST customer service I have EVER received! I walked in, walked towards the pie case to make a selection and within moments I was told by an employee w/ a nasty tone that I was in her way. I then began to request help and was treated like I was a burden because I wanted to buy close to all the slices in the case. So instead of selling them out I inquired about purchasing a whole pie and was told VERY rudely that it would be VERY expensive and that "You are better off going to the grocery store and buying a frozen pie and baking it yourself."- enough said I put my hands up and walked out. I DON'T WANT YOUR PIE ANYWAY! Sheesh all over a pie..... DO NOT GO TO ENNIS CAFE Mind you me and 25 others are in town for work for the week, had they been friendly and accomidated it could have been a profitable week for them. WED. Aug 13/14

This place is terrible! Wait staff was rude and food was terrible. I had a hamburger that tasted like it had been sitting on a grill in someone's backyard for 3 hours and my girlfriend had a taco salad that had soggy chips and tasteless meat.

We stopped here because when we see a small town with a small hole-in-the-wall joint, we think of Diners, Drive-in's, and Dives and hope to hit the jackpot. Not with this place. We all ordered "skillets" for about $10 a pop. They were skillets, sure--but it looked like we ordered off the senior menu instead of the adult. The breakfast gravy and hollandaise were powered, the chicken fried steak was most likely Sysco brand, and the eggs (scrambled) were funky, to say the least. The bathrooms were gross and the waitress was tweeky. Yuck. Disappointing.

Had breakfast here - the chili omelet - very tasty! That's meat chilli, not chili pepper. You can sit at a U shaped bar or a table. Service was quick and no-nonsense. Fair price too. Came in hungry, left satisfied - what more can I say.

I have eaten at many small town cafes and diners in my life, and more often than not they are pretty decent. Sometimes you find an exceptional place--or at least a place that does pancakes, grilled cheese, or a burger exceptionally well. Three of us went to Ennis Cafe for breakfast and quickly found it is not one of those places. The EC makes you a Sysco breakfast. That means imitation butter, imitation cream, imitation coffee, imitation maple syrup, and what I suspect was imitation eggs on our French Toast. The food at EC lacks any flavor, bogs you down, and mostly tries to bond with your brain receptors that understand "this contains fat and calories." Don't get me wrong, fat and calories are tasty when well prepared. Fresh bacon fat: tasty. Real maple syrup: tasty. Fresh butter: tasty. Fresh bread: tasty. Those things have flavors. Sysco/Ennis Cafe's foods do not. If you are cruising through town and looking for a place to stop, don't stop here.
