A first timer to Montana, I did not expect to find a gourmet restaurant in the middle of big sky country! This place is a hidden gem, a small cabin on the outside but a warm, inviting family restaurant on the inside. With only about 10 tables and a full parking lot, we were lucky to snag a spot for dinner. Once seated, we were presented with a small but upscale menu. They only have about 15 to 20 items on the menu, but dont let that fool you! Every item sounded so tasty I had no idea what to order. I settled on the veggie pasta with seared tuna and was not disappointed! The pasta did not come with the veggies listed on the menu, but i did not have a problem with that. For dessert, our table enjoyed a delicious slice of peach pie with blueberry ice cream. Yum! The only downside of this establishment are the prices. Any addition/substitution is extra (which I wouldnt expect for a simple substitution like caesar salad instead of a side salad) and they make it seem like a hassle to modify your food. They also pre-make every dish (i think) so they run out of menu options on a busy night if you dont get there early. Their alcohol is expensive as well, but hey, in the middle of nowhere, you dont have many other options!

We have been dining at The Grizz since the early 90's, first as tourist and now as locals, and have always had a great meal. Throughout the changes in management and ownership, the service and food quality have remained consistently outstanding. The current owners have got it down pat with the food being the greatest ever. My favorites are the Ahi Tuna appetizer (not once has it ever disappointed) and the tenderloin for my entree. Don't miss out on the Swiss cheese au gratin potatoes, simply wonderful.

You would never, ever know it from the outside, but this place is amazing. Great atmosphere: beautiful wooden furniture, open kitchen where they cook perfect Montana steaks on an open wood fire, adjusting the grate up and down to control the temp. Excellent food with very creative and perfect combos of tastes. Great stuff. If you're in the West Yellowstone/EnnisMadison River valley area, make a point of going here. Very much worth it.

Good food, terrible service. No less than twice a year we dine at The Grizzly and leave with the same thought: if their service was half as good as their food we would keep going. Our latest visit was the last straw.....really rude waitress who left everyone in our party proclaiming this our last trip to The Grizzly. Sadly we've had similar attitude from another server who was reportedly the owner. We won't be going back to The Grumpy, I mean The Grizzly.

Fantastic food, excellent service - what's not to love? We're locals who eat here regularly and have never had anything other than a stellar experience.

Good food, but unfriendly staff ruins it. You have to wait a long time to be seated when there are plenty of open tables available. Also, the waitress seated a party who were third in line, skipping us and people in front of us. Borderline rude.

Food is excellent, service is terrible. Had the wait staff have taken better care of us, I would have given 4, maybe 5 stars. The dishes are simple, yet well crafted, the wait staff is borderline rude. Despite the restaurant not taking reservations, we showed up, another party of four behind us, and another behind them. The last people in line were seated first(despite no reservations)while we waited for another 10-15 minutes to be seated. Show up, eat the food, leave no tip for waitresses, bring tip to cooks.

This place seems like its in the middle of no where but man is it worth the drive from West Yellowstone. The burger was really amazing. I loved all the options I had to make my burger, mine, from cheese to toppings. The service was prompt and accurate. We didn't have a single wrong order at the entire table of 10. Everyone was very friendly and we had a good time here. It is a must stop for us when we are in the area now!

The griz is such a pleasant oasis for all us fly fisherman, great food, pleasant wait staff and decent pricing given the quality/consistency of the food. I have a summer home near by and they never disappoint when I take friends or business associates to dinner. It's also a great local gathering hole and I have laughed my ass off on a few evenings, does not matter if there are movie stars, professional athletes or world class fly fisherman.....nobody seems to have an agenda, just a freindly atmosphere. I try to support the griz as much as I can....I always tip well to support the Waite staff, a little bit goes a long way....I don't bitch when I have to wait for a table (like some post's) you have to realize just where the hell your at and how lucky we are to have this place in our back yard.

WOW! this place was great! I cannot wait to go back. This bar has gone through different owners over the past years, so i was a little nervous when I can in. Apparently, it was mainly bar food before new ownership. The bill was a it high, but the food was great. This is that place you take the outta-townees for some old fashioned Western food:) I ordered the Grizzly burger (i know, a burger?! I was hesitant about the place), we also ordered the Cherrywood smoked ribs appetizer (only comes with 3 ribs. and GREAT sauce). Those were some of the best ribs i have ever had! I cant wait to go back and order a full rack. My burger was VERY good as well, I added blue cheese and it was delicious. My boyfriends brother ordered an Elk burger (never had that before this stop), I had a bit was very good too! All the food was cooked to perfection, and the service was great! I loved our waitress. They also have a great selections of Montana made beers, and I had a lite beer. Gotta try this local spot in you are on the 287, if you blink and you'll pass it.
