Great food, HUGE portions. Pork chop sandwiches and pasties are almost as good as my Irish grandma used to make (okay, probably just as good) and their sandwiches and burgers are great - as is their taco salad. And it's always a good sign when the same people (non-owners) have worked there for 30+ years :) They remember my complicated combo sandwich order every time! Super friendly and efficient staff. Hands down my favorite lunch place - and the only "real" Irish pub in Billings. Great dinners, too. I am not sure why one reviewer here said they would hesitate to go there after dark - this part of downtown is no worse than Montana Ave or any other downtown restaurant locale.

I should really come here more often. Rustic, downtown Billings restaurant. Nothing fancy. Bar food.... only better. The bread used on the sandwiches I've yet to see in any other restaurant. It's simply delicious. Order the HALF and share it. They're huge!! The menu is extensive and you can find it online. Parking can be an issue. If you're going for lunch, go early and you'll park on the street right out front. If not there are plenty of places around with a short walk which you'll enjoy after gorging yourself on their huge platters of food. The homemade chips are wonderful, crispy (never soggy) and seasoned just right. The staff are the friendliest in town... REALLY! No moody teens working this place. All professionals who make you feel right at home. It's what you'd expect out of Billings, MT. A couple of TV's placed so you can see a game that might be on. Enjoy!!

Food was good, had a pasty and chips. waitress was prompt however could use some personal skills with customers. the food was quick to the table even with a large group that was there. the atmosphere was nice and wasn't overly loud was able to have a conversation at a normal volume.

This is definitely one of our favorites in town. The pork chop sandwich is huge and tasty. Their homemade chips are some of the best. They have a great spicy mustard. You can also order pizza from next door at Father Guido's. The pizza is tasty on a thin crust. The last pizza we had was a bit doughy and didn't have a nice crisp bottom but the flavor was still there. The atmosphere is rustic and casual. Haven't been disappointed yet or ever left hungry.

Dinner last night at Pugs, Bill had the Shrimp Jambalaya and I had the Chicken Fajitas. We ordered thinking we would share some of each others, not so. We both loved our choices. Bill had a dark beer, which he loved and I had my ol standard, miller lite. But as we were celebrating Bill's Birthday, the waitress brought him an "irish kiss" . Ran into an old friend, this is a great local bar with super personality.

The Pork Chop Sandwich is a MUST try - but be sure to bring your appetite! The service was lackluster and a little salty, but this is to be expected in an Irish bar. I had unfortunate timing coming in after a group of about twenty bikers and had to wait quite some time even for my appetizer, however the food was worth the wait. Pug's has a great selection of local draft beers; I personally enjoyed the local red ale. The onion rings are some of the best I have ever had - the batter was supremely crisp and stuck to the entire ring after each bite. And then came the Pork Chop Sandwich... I have never had the opportunity to enjoy one of these Montana classics before, but I'm ecstatic Pug's popped my cherry. There is no way else to put this - the sandwich is ENORMOUS! The pork chop was about twice the size of the bun and hung out like a fat guy in a kiddie shirt. The breading was crisp, the pork chop was juicy, and the table-side condiments were completely unnecessary. If I'm ever back in Billings, Pug's will be my first stop. Hopefully I get to head back soon because I'm drooling just recalling this experience!

The pork chop sandwich was huge but disappointed with lack of seasoning and served dry on bun with just mayo, ketchup, plain mustard available. Good quality just bland and dry without a good sauce. Wife had Butte pasty which was pretty good. Chips were crisp but with out any salt at all.

Father Guidos pizza is the best for thin crust pizza. At Pugs, most items on the a menu are great. My favs are chili, butte pasty and fish and chips. And if you're not in the mood for their delicious home made chips, a small salad is easy to substitute.

The pork chop sandwich is delicious! The chips are okay I personally prefer fries, but they are good! It's just an awesome environment!

I always get the same thing because it's the best! Trust me (yet again) and get the pork chop sandwhich.only get one though because it's ginormous and then split it. You will love the house made chips too. For dessert get a sugar cookie (to-go because you will be so stuffed). This place can get bust and they have limited seating. The waitresses can be snappy with newer people who don't know the "routine"...don't take It too peronally because the service is good just not warm and fuzzy.

Horrible service and plenty of attitude. Food wasn't anything I would try again. The pizza next door was pretty good though. Do yourself a favor. Go to a restaurant that has at leas a little pride and hopefully a lot more class.

Came here for dinner for a business trip and was recommended by a local. I ordered the pork chops sandwhich, it came with potato chips. The serving was huge. The deep fried pork chop was alright. Good to have once but will ever have crave for. The chips were so salty. It was an ok place. I understand Billings is a mono cultural town, but they didn't have to stare at me while I was eating. Coming from Sacramento and being Asian, I was dressed casual and was very courteous to the waitress. That was probably the highlight of my visit. She treated me with great hospitality, while I can see the locals just piercing me with their stares.

Best Pork Chop sandwich around. Oh don't want to forget that the pasties are to die for. YUM! Huge portions well worth the money. Love going there cause the waitresses remember you and they are always upbeat! .

Good fish and chips. Good service. The night scene can be a little too fun in the summer. Been going for years and pugs is consistent.

Great place to grab a meal, wonderful selection of Irish dishes. The corned beef and cabbage was fantastic, I love that they work with the pizza place Guiddos next door. I can get pizza while at Pugs if I'm in the mood for it! Wonderful staff. We have had great experiences here.

I used to frequent Pug's a lot. They make a mean breakfast on the weekends and do a nice job with pub food during the rest of the week. They have a nice beer selection and the staff is wonderful. Don't worry about coming here at night, unlike some other bars in Billings (The Empire - RIP), I've never feared for my safety here. My best friend used to be a big time regular here, so we'd get comped a lot of free drinks. Extra star for that, definitely!

Three words: pork chop sandwich. Or is that two words? The rest of the menu is also great. You can't lose, but just do me a favor, this is your order: pork chop sandwich and a black and tan. They make their black and tan the right way, Harp and Guinnes from draft. The sandwich covers a plate, with house chips crammed under and around it. Sliced pickles and mayo complement the meal. Don't eat pork? Eat this anyway. Just kidding, try the deviled egg sandwich. They also have a decent veggie sandwich if you are a vegan. You will not leave hungry.

I'm pretty sure I would be terrified to go to Pug Mahon's after about 5PM, as it makes no bones about being a dive bar AND is directly across the street from what must be Montana's oldest halfway house. For lunch though, it is packed with business men eating gigantic, delicious ass pork chop sandwiches, chili, clam chowder, and "bullet burgers." I'm not sure whether the waitresses fake the irish accents to get bigger tips or what, but they are hella friendly and crazy efficient during the lunch rush. MMMMM Pork chop sandwich.

They dont serve breakfast anymore. PK from Wyomings glowing 5 star review is a farse. The place is filthy and smells like sewage near the kitchen and bathrooms. Some of the women who serve there are cool but they are mostly grumpy old hags serving bar slop. Pugs' hay day was about ten years ago. The owner doesn't really give two hoots about the place anymore.
