The best!!! Quality bbq for a great price. My family and I were visiting the area and this place was recommended to us. Amazing! It's located with a gas station no one would know they would be there . The truth is that they serve quality bbq! I wish they were near me.

Very good BBQ. Not everything you would hope for in a joint, but well worth a detour. Location is shared with a store and service is pretty quick. Prices are balanced with the potions.

Some of the best BBQ I've had. You can taste the smokey-ness on the ribs and brisket. Their sauce is delicious. We ordered the large family meal for 7 of us and it was pleeeentyy of food!! Gas station hole in the walls are the best!

Was about to stop at a chain restaurant and spotted this nearby via Yelp. What a good decision to come here. Small plate of brisket and turkey along with 2 pretty decent sized sides and a soda for $8. The turkey and brisket were both awesome.... Friendly staff, quick service and all in all can't give less thank 5 stars. First time having BBQ in a gas station and if I get the chance to come back before I leave town I definitely will!

  • Jennifer H.

Just a heads up...Located inside the gas station.... Ribs were 5 star, brisket was 2 stars ( a bit too dry for our taste). Sides were nothing to write home about. Get the ribs to go and make your own slaw. :)

I want to thank the owner of Blue's for taking care of my sister and brother-in-law a few weeks ago. I am from San Diego, CA and knew that Blue's BBQ is my brother-in-law's favorite restaurant. My sister and their youngest daughter had been in the hospital for a week and I wanted to help my brother-in-law out by having a meal delivered to the family. Little did I know that Blue's doesn't typically deliver unless it is for a catering event. After talking with the owner, he agreed to have one of his children deliver the meal. THANK YOU for going the extra mile and making my brother-in-law and children's day by taking them some BBQ for dinner!!! I have heard you make the best BBQ. I am definitely going to have to stop in the next time I'm in Billings visiting my sister and her family. Thanks again!!

This BBQ place is attached to a gas station. It spells pretty good when you walk in, but it isn't that great. You get a decent amount of food for the price, but the ribs do not fall off the bone at all and there is absolutely no barbecue sauce on them, just spices!! The the barbecue sauce they do have is runny, cold and not all that tasty. The beans are great but the coleslaw is tasteless. The cornbread was dry. We won't be going back.

Blue's BBQ is a very basic BBQ joint with very good food at very decent prices. The restaurant has established a strong clientele for good reason. The sandwiches are my favorite, pulled pork, smoked sausage and more. The ribs are very tasty and the sides are very good as well. It's not fancy at all, just good food. The staff is really cool too. Check it out.

Delicious bbq baby back ribs. Must try! So are the baked beans and Cole slaw and potato salad! Wish they were near me. So finger licking good. Not a fancy store or have too many varieties but does the trick for me. So generously portioned for the pricing.

Back in November I ended up at the owners home tending to some business my company had sent me for. He suggested I check out his BBQ joint, and I am so glad that I did. I showed up and he had told his staff to give me a free meal once I showed up. (Awesome customer service) The owner wasn't there any more so i never got a chance to thank you...so THANK YOU! The food was amazing! It was located in a gas station which would have probably originally turned me away from the place but the food speaks for itself. Some of the best ribs I have ever had. I highly recommend this little joint. If I had of paid I would have paid a reasonable price too. In fact I was blown away at the amount of food that you can get for $7-$8. If I ever end up in Billings again this will be where I head immediately!

After having Blue's BBQ cater several meetings for the company I work for we decided to give Blue's a try as a family since there just aren't many BBQ choices. We litterally spit out more gristle and fat from the BBQ sandwich than the meat we ate. Nasty and have not been back since. Overpriced terrible cold BBQ is how I would describe this mess. Save yourself the trouble and go to Dickies or Famous Daves because at least those places have some level of atmosphere...Blue's is in a gas station/convenience store! I give it 2 stars because the catering has been ok a couple times.

  • Marie G.

The best BBQ on the east side of the state! Used the leftover brisket with beans in the crock pot, and they turned out awesome. The smoke they do on their meats are just right. Several types and heats of sauces. Customer service is perfect, I feel like a welcome relative every time I walk in the door. Super casual.

Don't let the building deceive you. Yes it is attached to a gas station but it is well worth what ever drive it takes to get to this place. This is by far the best BBQ you will ever eat, yes the BEST!! As you bite into the ribs you will feel like you were sitting next to the smoker and just handed a fresh rack. The sauce could use some additional spices but everything else is absolutely amazing.

  • Allysa G.

Was told about this place by a friend. When we pulled up and saw it was attached to a gas station, it made me worry the food wasn't going to be good. Holy cow, was I wrong! The food here is SO GOOD! My husband and I were definitely not let down! The only reason I would give them 4.5 stars is we are bummed there were no beef ribs lol. Definitely coming back and bringing the entire family!

  • Chuck S.

This was voted best BBQ for a reason! Ribs were awesome! Tender, juicy! Brisket was on point! Will be back again before I leave!

No question, best BBQ in Billings. Yup,gas station location is weak at best. My recommendation is takeout and craft beer at home. EVERYTHING is good here, nice to be served by such nice local people. Skip the vulgar chains that are so prevalent in Billings and try this place!

Good little joint. The bar b que is good and the staff friendly. Great find on the road.

  • Chad L.

Yay! I'm a fan. About 100 yards away from this place the heavenly smell of bbq smoke reached me and guided me to the promised land. Ordered the brisket and pulled pork with potato salad and everything was excellent. I will definitely be back and look forward to trying the ribs because they looked really good as well. Yes it is located next to a convenience store but there's plenty of space and appears to be run independently.

Best BBQ iv ever had in Billings period!! So delicious, I'm craving some now as I'm typing this lol!

  • Nerissa S.

OH MY GOD! Best BBQ I have had since moving out west! We ordered a take out family meal with ribs, pulled pork, ranch mac n' cheese, cole slaw and salad. Everything was phenomenal! The pulled pork was moist and had amazing flavor. The ribs melted in my mouth. They were meaty and tender. They were so good I didn't even need to put sauce on them! The ranch Mac n cheese was delicious my kids scarfed it down. An all around great meal!

  • Derrek B.

Solid food especially for the gas station setting but I'll definitely hit it up again while I'm here. Service was ok basically a grab and go so of you expect more you will be disappointed.

  • John K.

Some of the best babyback ribs I've had. Great seasoning, super meaty and their sauce (I tried the hot) was awesome. Highly recommended if you're in the area. Forget the location and judge the food on it's flavor and quality.

  • Kyle T.

Great barbecue! I enjoyed the sides, but it would be nice to have some additional choices, like green beans and Mac and cheese.

Doesn't get any better than this! My friends and I were going to Famous Dave's until I found this place, haven't seen the inside of Dave's since. Great staff, Amazing food, and perfectly priced. Don't let the setting fool ya, Blues is thereal deal.

  • Dee S.

MMMMMMMMM..... Best BBQ in the history of the world!!! Yummy! And the slaw is fantastic! I wish they were on the west end, but sooooo worth the drive.

  • Weston R.

This is some of the best BBQ I've had period. I tried a little bit of everything and even ordered extra to go. The ribs we perfect, the smoked sausage is the best I've had, and brisket had so much flavor. I'll make this a regular stop when I'm in Billings from now on.

    (5)
  • Sarah H.

The only thing I would change or add to this place is more sides. Not to say they don't have several, but a side of green beans would be nice. Just something besides starches and bagged salad. It wouldn't prevent me from eating at Blue's, but I would feel less guilty about it. ; )

    (5)
  • Tiffany M.

Very yummy ribs and sauce! That is all that i get just a rack of ribs. It is in a gas station but don't let that put you off they are good!

  • Beverly F.

I miss barbecue since moving up north but this place made me feel at home again. I had the pulled pork and it was fantastic, didn't even need sauce added to it and there really wasn't any fat mixed in as you find sometimes. My friends got the brisket, which I also tried, and you could taste the delicious smoke flavor throughout the meat. As for sides we didn't get too adventurous, chips, a salad and baked beans. I enjoyed the beans and would like to try their other sides next time, and am especially interested in the baked potato topped with pulled pork The staff were very friendly and I love that you can eat in, take out or even do a drive through. The fact that this is technically in a gas station has zero effect on how great a place it is. If you want good barbecue, at a good price that isn't some giant, not nearly as good, national chain stop here. Also I had trouble finding the hours until I physically went there so if anyone was wondering it is open Monday-Saturday 10am (I believe) to 8pm. It was really hopping during lunch and clearly had a good number of regulars so that always seems like a great sign in my book~

Did a trip to Yellowstone with the family. On the way out, we stopped in Billings, MT for the night. Was craving BBQ and found Blues in Yelp. There was 8 of us and we stopped in before they were closing. As noted by others, inside a gas station, very casual, but very clean. We ordered the family special... Lots of brisket, ribs, slaw, baked beans, and bread. After we got served, there was almost zero talking as everyone devoured their serving and got seconds. Great food, great service, friendly staff, and affordably priced. Wish they had a store here in my home state.

  • Jake B.

Great ribs and meat! The sides were nothing too special, but a great place for some BBQ!

    (4)
  • Stephanie K.

the food was good. ambiance, lacking. but it was hot, fast, and tasty. take one star off for no beer, and no desserts. this is out and out meat BBQ. I had turkey plate with yam and beans, SO had brisket sandwich and coleslaw. this place beats any chain for price. love the fact you can fill your car up with gas, get a lottery ticket and car wash too. awesome.

  • Erin O.

I'm obsessed with this place. The service is incredible (although I've always had takeout), the meat is so freaking tender, the prices are right. What an obscure find. This place is hidden in a gas station (whaaaaat???!) but don't let that stop you. The best BBQ you will ever have. Seriously.

    (5)
  • Kyle C.

Great BBQ! I'm used to BBQ that makes you jump up yell yeehaw and lasso the waitress, But this brisket is good! Lacking some of that true mesquite smokey flavor. I would recommend this place to any Montana resident wishing to indulge in a southern favorite.

We stopped by for lunch on our way home from our trip to Glacier NP. Great BBQ. We each had the Brisket and Rib Combo. Excellent flavor, good bark on the brisket and the ribs were very tender. Beans were above average and good homemade potato salad. Overall, this was as good as the BBQ we have eaten in KC and Texas. Fast friendly service and great pricing.

Some of the absolute BEST BBQ you'll find... not just in Billings, anywhere! Serious. This is quality BBQ. You are going to love the flavors of every single one of their meats. Brisket, which is very hard to do properly, is cooked to perfection here at Blues. We like to order a mini-combo of Brisket and Sausage then use a little of their HOT SAUCE along with a touch of slaw for the perfect bite of BBQ you'll ever find. They are VERY accommodating at Blues. Want something "off menu", they'll figure it out. Want three meats instead of two? Sure, no problem. Want only one side instead of two? Sure, no problem. And I'll even give you a little more meat! Great people! The owners are here every day and are two of the nicest, most humble people you'll ever come across. Yes, I love the coleslaw. LOVE IT!! It just goes so perfectly with the meat and sauce. I'm a "mixer" so a little meat/slaw/hot sauce per bite is the way I roll. Delicious! On food alone, this is a 5-star place. In fact, if you're getting food to go or having them cater an event, it's 5-stars all the way. I knock a 1/2 star off only because of the restaurant itself. It's in a gas station with cafeteria style seating and usually a little 'messy'. Not dirty! It's clean. They're just a little messy with newspapers and personal items scattered about. The other 1/2 star loss is for not having beer/wine. If I'm eating BBQ for dinner, I gots to have me a BEER man!! Go for lunch when you don't care about beer or ambiance. Also, don't get the sandwiches. There's nothing wrong with them, it's just that the bread robs from the flavors of the meat. If you're going to enjoy BBQ at it's best, go to Blues for lunch and order a small combo of whatever meats you want, get some slaw, and if you ask and are so inclined, get some jalapenos on the side. Bon Appetit.

I was gonna write a review last time I checked in but my hands where indisposed at the moment. Finger-licking good BBQ! Then catered at work and had racks of ribs always a great rub & crust, tad undercooked. Pit beans are good. Coleslaw sloppy. Salad plain. Pulled pork is super tasty! Mild sauce is spicy. Hot sauce is spicy as hell. Enjoy!

Brisket and shredded pork were both good. Fair priced. No frills gas station dive. Nice folks.

What an unexpected and delicious treat on a long road trip (thank you Yelp for helping us find it). Funny location, but that doesn't affect the quality of food. Great BBQ. Giving it 4 stars because they only had ONE menu for the whole location, and no, it wasn't hanging on the wall.

    (4)
  • Anthony M.

Yes this place is located inside a gas station convenience store but it serves the best BBQ north of Texas. All their meats are smoked daily and are delicious. The sides are good too. Friendly family run BBQ joint.

If there is a better rib in Billings I have not found it. This place is simply the BEST BBQ in the state. period. Don't change a thing, Kenny and his staff have it down pat. We just bought $200.00 worth for a lunch at work today and not a single complaint. Fed 10 hungry people and many leftovers that won't go to waste.Everything made fresh from scratch everyday.

Gas station cuisine at its finest. Our GPS has led us astray on many occasions, but this time, we were quite happy with the results. As we headed toward Billings, MT, we were hungry, and I was craving BBQ. Pete liked the name of Blue's BBQ, so that's where we went. We were at first a bit surprised at the location. You have to walk into the gas station and then enter the restaurant. But restaurants connected to gas stations aren't new to either of us, and we've had some great food at others, so we gave it a try. When you walk in, you are immediately hit with the most mouthwatering smells, and the meats are proudly displayed behind the counter. You order at the counter, take a number, and sit down and wait for your food to be delivered. The wait wasn't long, and even if it had been, it would have been well worth it. Pete had the large combo plate with 4 ribs, 4 ounces of brisket and two sides (potato salad and beans). I had a brisket sandwich (with coleslaw and beans). I loved the hot BBQ sauce, but Pete chose the mild sauce. Either way, yummy. The coleslaw was perfect with the sandwich, and most of it ended up on top of the sandwich. The beans had thick pieces of bacon in them. This place was friendly, quick, filling, and conveniently located...We filled up on gas, got some ice for our cooler, and even went through the car wash. All after eating our yummy BBQ. If we are ever driving through this area again, we will definitely make a stop at Blue's BBQ. (There is also a drive-up window.)

This is the best BBQ in Billings. So anytime I feel the need for some down right good BBQ. I head straight to the heights

Best BBQ brisket I've ever had! Really glad I checked this place out. The place is nothing fancy, but the service is friendly, the atmosphere is warm, and the food is great. My only critique would be for them to offer other sides besides chips... but oh well (it is in a gas station after all). Don't pass this place up; you won't be disappointed.

Five star bbq in an informal setting.Quality , this is what this place is about. High quality meat, turkey, handpicked swet potatoes. Family like ownership. Hospitable, friendly, honest and hard working. Loved to see the old style american goodness, where people are still genuinely friendly even in the bitter cold weather outside.

In town for work we wanted something besides fast food. I was skeptical of gas station food, but my coworker from TX said he's had good Q in gas stations. Damn glad I listened to him, the recipes come from OK and its spot on OK/TX bbq. The brisket doesn't need any of the sauce, but the sauce is good. The rub they put on their meet is killer, a bit of fruit wood with the oak smoke. We both killed our plates fast. Sides and price are spot on. You can buy their rub for $3/bottle. Bring some of that goodness home with ya.

I read the reviews here after seeing their ad on TV. I was raised on Texas BBQ (Odessa-Wichita Falls) and this...just ain't it. I drove 120 miles each way to prove it. First off, the whole "gas station" thing is not all that attractive or cute. It's actually in one of those mini-mart / C-store combo buildings with pumps outside. You'd expect a Chester's Chicken or a Subway, The outside smelled good, with active smokers outside churning out some good but non-mesquite temptation. On entering through two sets of doors, I noticed supplies and unfinished projects and pick-up orders stacked in corners and against walls. There were maybe a dozen tables and four person crew. Menus are table-style fold-ups you must gather from the counter. Prices seemed reasonable (it's NEVER cheap), but I CAME FOR THE BRISKET, the most basic test of any BBQ joint. And I was not to be deterred. My lady (also from Texas) ordered a pulled pork sandwich, also a good test. I ordered the large brisket platter . I was immediately greeted with, "The brisket's not done yet. We had a run at lunch and we ran out.. It would be pretty rare." It was 1:30pm when I got there and I drove 120 miles to try it. I ordered it anyway. Now, there's nothing recognizable as food in underdone brisket.. It can actually be substituted for shoe leather. I knew all this going in, but I also have a very prejudiced palate when it comes to "Texas BBQ" and I know with a bite or two if it's authentic, tender or not. Sorry, no soap here. I also got two sides: slaw and pasta salad.. The slaw was drowned in dressing and the pasta salad likewise in sour cream. My lady's side was the potato salad and she rejected it for too much mayonnaise. (most Texas-style potato salad is mustard based). There was no cobbler. There HAS to be cherry or peach cobbler. To be fair, I should not have ordered the underdone brisket and they should not have offered to sell me any, not having a chance to present their customer with their best effort, But it's a business and it's all about the $$, isn't it? As a final attempt to find something authentic, I went to try the mild BBQ sauce, retrieving it from a rack on the counter, trying to see if the addition of sauce could help the shoe leather brisket. My lady's pork sandwich was ample, but she complained that it was swimming in an over-sweet Carolina style sauce. I'm thinking brown sugar based at best, ketchup at worst, more sweet than smoke. So, I'll give 'em TWO STARS for effort and local popularity but, if you want TEXAS BBQ - go to BY GOD Texas!

Don't be fooled by the location, because this is solid BBQ. Brisket is very tender and the sauce is great. I also like the baked/smoked yam. Don't pass this up if you are craving food Texas-style BBQ.

I wandered in to Billings on my way from Mt Rushmore to Yellowstone, via Little Bighorn Battlefield (a must see!). I was starving and decided to try the GPS to find a BBQ spot and Blues popped up. I took a look at Heather's review on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I drove by it once before I figured out where it was. I was bleary-eyed from driving, but it's just off the main road. The food was awesome. I've tried BBQ on my road trip and this was one of the best. I don't know what he puts in his beans but they are amazing! I licked my plate. The ribs were great too. I'm getting hungry again just thinking about it.

  • David L.

Very good BBQ. I had the ribs and brisket. Ribs were outstanding, and some of the best I've had at a BBQ place. The brisket was OK, with good flavor, but not impressive. It was not particularly tender or moist. It's cooked as large chunks rather than the whole brisket. Never seen it done that way before. The sides I tried (beans and slaw) were very good. In general, it was better than most BBQ places I've been in and I will go back when I am passing thru Billings again.

  • Jan M.

It's our fav bar b que. The smoked turkey is my favorite! The ribs are great too! We order it take out a lot and then go somewhere else to eat.

I'm a Texas girl transplanted to Billings and the brisket has me hooked. Love the sweet potato except I have to ask for real butter instead of "heart-healthy spread". More than once I've been at the bank drive-through and the aroma from the smoker lured me in.

    (5)
  • Stephen F.

BBQ ribs were meaty, tender and full of flavor. Turkey was extremely tender and juicy. Spicy beans were filled with meat. Staff was accommodating and generous.

    (4)
  • Greg G.

An Ok BBQ joint. The beans came straight from a can and had ham mixed in for flavor. The coleslaw is average at best. The ribs where also average and the BBQ sauce is not very flavorful. The prices are cheap so I guess if you are pumping some gas it is not a bad deal. Not the worst BBQ out there, but not really great either.
