I'm surprised at the bad reviews for this restaurant. I just moved to Natchez not to long ago to be a manager of a hotel that is down the road from this place. I want to be able to recommend good places for guests to go eat at so I went here a couple of days ago. The restaurant is very cute and kitchy....kind of shabby chic like. Cool artwork, neat fixtures, clusters of berries everywhere. A very happy, carnival like atmosphere. Is it authentic Italian décor? Probably not but so what. It's cool. Now on to the best part....the food. It was awesome....so good. I had the Daygo Salad I think it was called and it was huge. I had two nights worth of dinner out of it. It was piled high with pasta, shrimp, shredded cheese, and some delicious pepperey topping that really made it stand out. I also had the large Muffaletta. It is a little similar to a calzone kind of. Again, it was huge, enough for two people, and lasted again for two dinners. Once again, is the food authentic Italian? First off, I've never been to Italy so I don't know. Secondly, I don't care. It was delicious and that is all I care about. Lil Dagos does not look like much from the outside but once you step inside you will be delighted by the atmosphere and most certainly by the food.

One of the worst Italian restaurants I've ever visited. I ordered the chicken lasagna and it tasted like it was made with canned chicken. It was disgusting. It was then drenched in a gooey thick paste that was supposed to be alfredo sauce. I sent it back, did not order anything else and left. I told my boyfriend to never bring me back there. Maybe the other food was good but the marinara sauce was way too sweet for my taste. I grew up in Northern Virginia where the Italian food is authentic and delicious. This wasn't even authentic. It was just nasty. HIRED NEW COOKS!

Nothing about this place feels authentic, the food is edible but everything tastes like pre-frozen store bought and not made from scratch. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here.

Not yummy. I have lived in Virginia for 20 years now, and this is just like a bad Italian deli.

Yuck! They claim to be authentic Italian, but I've spent my college years working in a real Italian restaurant, and real Italian it is not. My mom loves it, but she's old and has no taste buds, so I guess they do have a following. Everything we ordered was covered with an overly sweet marinara. To their credit, on the menu does state that the sauce is sweet, and usually I like a sweet sauce. But there was no other elements to balance it. It just taste like they dump a TON of sugar in it. The bread they served was also tough. Kinda old. The spinach and artichoke dip was wonderful. The fried bow-tie pasta they served it with wasn't. Hard and sharp. I have had the same dish at Copelands a million times. I know how good fried pasta is supposed to taste. We also did a pick up order and they left one of the items we ordered. When I called to tell them, after we got home and realized we were short a beef lasagna, the girl was very apologetic, and was going to try to find a way to bring it to me, thinking I was going to make a stink over it. Of course, I didn't. The first thing I said when we realized the mistake, I've worked service industry my whole life. I can't believe I left without checking the bags...same reason I wouldn't really get upset. I probably won't ever eat here again. The sauce just isn't for me. If I want Italian, it's Pearl Street or nothing.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
