My wife brought home leftovers from a work lunch and said "you can have the Lo Mein, but leave the xxxx chicken alone." Later that evening, a hunger led me to the fridge and I grabbed a fork and tucked into the cold lo mein...WOW! I was expecting minnesota nice chicken lo mein and got moist coconut-y umami!!! The veggies were perfectly cooked with a slight crunch. The chicken was thinly sliced and so full of flavor. I NEVER order lo mein, rather going for more exotic menu items, but this TOGO box blew my mind. One of the only reasons i haven't given up on humanity is my endless quest for GREAT Asian food. Slap my mouth, would have thought it would come from cold leftovers in Styrofoam?! Read a lot of so so reviews, but after the last togo rendezvous, i can't wait to try this place in person. Who knows, there may be one more star in this reviewers future. I'm hoping this wasn't a fluke. Can't wait to try this in living color. EDIT: just found out i ate my wife's Coconut Curry Chicken, NOT the Lo Mein. duh. I'm an idiot. So going to pay for this and completely understand her disappointment, now. Still can't wait to drive here and order off the menu.

This is a family favorite restaurant. Been coming here for lunches and dinner for years. Just found new favorite dish. Hot and Spicy Tofu. Once you try it I'm sure you will order it again. Bring the kids (they ask if we can go here) and order take out regularly. Other favorites include Singapore Noodles are excellent. Curry chicken rice salad is another go to. For lunches (especially in the winter) I go for the Pho (#5). It's especially good spiced up a little if you feel a cold coming on. It's better than chicken soup at making you feel better. Great food, local family owned place.

Great chinnese food I ordered pork fried rice, egg rolls and spicy chicken. Way better then YANGS in Woodbury. Customer service was good and they don't charge you for extra sauce:)

The eggrolls are excellent, but soaked in the fish sauce, well that takes them right up to terrific. I almost always order the curry chicken, and my wife, she usually gets the garlic sauce chicken.

Their spring rolls, ugh. I need to get this off my chest asap - I'm very disappointed by their spring rolls. The filling is 80% ice berg lettuce, 19% vermicelli, and 1% shrimp. That's it. No herbs or any other vegetables. That's all I'm going to say or I will start crying. I have dined in for lunch once, and ordered takeout for lunch recently. The first time here I got the coconut curry (meat combo). I thought it was pretty standard, but delicious because I love me some coconut curry. I got a hell of a stomach ache after though... My friend got the vegetarian pho and said it was good but not on the top of her Pho List. The good thing was that I had gotten such a generous portion of curry that I was able to stretch it into two full meals. I recently ordered off their lunch takeout menu - sesame chicken w fried rice, and a spring roll on the side. The chicken and rice are good. The chicken is battered and fried in that puffy batter. It kind of had that oily aftertaste, but was still enjoyable. There was some red pepper flakes in it but I wouldn't say it was "spicy". They accommodated my peanut allergy and made sure none was in the dish or side sauces. This meal wasn't quite worth it, though. It was $9 for the chicken & rice, and it is portion that I think most people could easily eat in one sitting. I didn't have much leftover, and I try to stretch out my restaurant food. The spring roll was $2 ($3 each if you don't add it to a meal combo), so it was $12 (w tip) for an ok fried lunch w a pathetic spring roll. 1 star for location and 1 star for kind and quick service. The sad thing is, since it's so conveniently close to work for me, I will probably be back here again. But maybe once I try more menu items I will have a positive update! (Maybe.)

Is there such a thing as "White guy Vietnamese"? Because I'm pretty sure that's what we had. The salad / spring rolls were 98% lettuce, the egg rolls had a strange almost all carrot filling, and pretty much everything was underseasoned. I guess this is a small chain around the MSP area - maybe it used to be better, but there's nothing to really recommend this place other than being open if you're nearby.

Stopped by for Vietnamese cravings- pho, spring rolls, and iced coffee. The pho broth was pretty lack luster as well as the offerings with it; just a big pile of bean sprouts, no herbs or jalapeños. The spring roll and peanut sauce weren't very exciting either. My friend recommended this place to me so I had to try it out. Ordered the sweet and sour chicken. I loved the texture of the chicken, but the sauce itself was mediocre. I ordered it extra spicy and they ended up dumping crushed pepper flakes all over it. That doesn't add heat, it just makes me sneeze a lot. The food was decent, but what really turned me off was the service there. My server was new and he seemed like a good guy, but I felt as if the manager or owner that was there insulted me and kept on hitting on my girlfriend. I understand the need to want to make casual conversation but we didn't know each other well enough for him to constantly poke fun at me.

Awesome Tasting Vietnamese / Chinese Food: One of the best food I have had. I am a travelling software architect since 10 years. My current assignment is in Minesota. I have had many kinds of asian ( chinese / vietnamese) food. But Duc's is out of the World. I highlly recommend the food. Do NOT expect great service but the below items are out of the World especially if you like Spicy food. 1 - Coconut Curry Chicken ( entree) 2 - Curry Chicken Wings ( appetizers) 3 - Vegetable Spring Rolls ( appetizers) AND 4 - Singapore Chicken or Sea Food Nooodles Duc's Team - you ROCK IN TASTE....but should improve customer service. Customer service feedback: you are under staffed. The staff being too busy do not realize that they are rude and showing do NOT care attitude unknowingly / knowingly. OVERALL - THE FOOD IS AWESOME!!!!

We come here often and really like the food and service. We've been there when it was busy and when it was slow and we are welcomed with a smile every time. We've tried the egg rolls, chow mein, lo mein, coconut curry with vegetables, vietnamese chow mein and chicken with cashews among other selections and always receive ample meat portions with fresh vegetables. We always have enough to take home for another meal. My wife wishes the mock duck was still on the menu but she likes to try new dishes each time we go anyway. Me? I usually switch it up between the vietnamese and the chinese chow mein. I know, boring, but for me it's just great! We'll keep going back!

sigh.. I hate to admit it bu i cam here for a quick lunch really wanted vietnamese food but didnt want to drive out to st paul. i was so disappointed the quality of the food here is buffet quality at best. the spring rolls did not have much meat in them at all; the pho was really blan. why do so many asian restaurants in the suburbs americanize there menu so much might as well eat at leann chin

  • T S.

I just go her for their chicken eggrolls which are delicious. I've tried their sesame chicken and was not a fan. Mostly because it was the same type of coated chicken one would receive with sweet and sour chicken. If you are a fan of chicken eggrolls, they are worth trying!

Um, hello?? This place was pretty good the first time we checked it out, so we went back. Mistake. It was a cold Friday night and we were given the table by the door, the TV and a group of loud diners. We ordered the chicken egg rolls, the hot and spicy chicken and the garlic chicken with brown rice, one DC and one water. The water and DC come quickly and then we are advised they are out of hot and spicy chicken. Fine, I picked the chicken with black bean sauce, peppers and onions instead. I can't figure out why they were out of a dish made with chicken, vegetables and sauce. Isn't that what most dishes are made out of? We wait, wait and wait for the egg rolls. I'm facing the counter and register. Finally the guy looks over and realizes he forgot my dining companions egg rolls. They come shortly after. He cannot finish the egg rolls before the food comes. I preferred the chicken with garlic sauce to the black bean sauce. The food portions are huge and the food was pretty good, but the service was so poor, I'm not sure I will go back.

My wife, son and I decided to stop in here on February 4 and this will be our last visit. We ordered egg rolls, which were received cold. I ordered cashew chicken which was dry and my wife ordered chicken with vegetables that also were dry. Very disappointing. I brought this up and what we were given was a bowl of sauce that my wife and I split across our food. My son got chicken fried rice which was fine. Very disappointing.

Not completely what I expected for a place in a strip mall. Was very pleased with the experience and the interior is quite nice. Place was pretty slow for a Sunday night. We were one of three tables. I ordered the combination fried rice which was really good. Unfortunately, J ended up liking my rice too, so no left overs. Big chunks of pork, beef, shrimp and chicken along with fresh and crunchy bean sprouts. We both loved it and both remarked how un-greasy it was. It was perfect. I also ordered a small bowl of won ton soup which was a nice size and had a lot of flavor. The red chilis were a nice touch and added flavor. J ordered the chicken coconut curry which he liked. He has leftovers because I can't stand curry and am not a big fan of coconut. So he has lunch tomorrow. Will certainly swing back if in the area or will grab some fried rice to go. That is the shiat! Service was very good.

Do you love spicy vegetables cooked to the perfect tenderness and really juicy mock duck? Get the Szechuan style mock duck! The portion size is perfect for sharing. But...do you love spring rolls as much as I do? It's best to go somewhere else for those. Duc's spring rolls have way too much iceberg lettuce in them to bother with.

  • Chris M.

I've been here a few times due to the insistent recommendations of co-workers, but I'm starting to question whether or not said advice should be taken with a grain of salt from now on. The cuisine is fairly pan-Asian, but nothing has really stood out. The noodle salads have been pretty disappointing and the Szechuan items have been serviceable, but unimpressive. They have afforable lunch specials, but the focus seems to be on affordable as opposed to flavorful. Service has always been very friendly and Duc's appears to have a pretty local following from the neighborhood. Perhaps it's just me, but you're more likely to find me heading to Thanh Truc or Tea House if jonesing for Vietnamese or Chinese over on the East side.

I like Ducs. [pronounced Duke's as in John Wayne] Soup bowls are really satisfying... If you finish the whole thing, your Belly is a Burstin'! The Yanjing beer is perfect with their food. Everyone is friendly too. Good interior design and lighting. Needs a patio out front :-/ [see my post beer pic]

Meh. We did takeout & were really excited per other Yelp reviews for good pho. Unfortunately, we were completely disappointed. I ordered the chicken & my husband ordered the Beef. We also added spring rolls. The Pho was overall disappointing. Too much broth, not enough components, & no herbs? None? Not even a titch? The spring rolls were equally disappointing as they were composed of mostly lettuce. No carrots? What?!?! It was disappointing & I don't think we will order from Duc's again :(

I have to write and update as we probably come here at least once a month and love it more and more. One of the owners is just the nicest guy ever and always treats everyone like family. The food is consistently good, chicken wantons, beef/chicken/shrimp with vegetables, coconut curry, sauteed deep fried potatoes, all delicious. This really is a wonderful restaurant and Woodbury is lucky to have it.

My colleagues took me here for lunch since I came from Des Moines and wanted some real Vietnamese food. This place is pretty busy during lunch with the entire campus here. We managed to get a table and our colleague found parking off the street since parking lot was full. I got the Vietnamese noodle salad with beef and some vegetables. It was really good and was surprised how simple it was made. Price was pretty reasonable and would come here again.

Food was average; service was slow...and confused. Most attention seemed directed to regulars. It took a long time to get all our entrees and even longer to get the waiters attention and get our rice. Any chain restaurant in the area would have been a better choice.

Went here last night for a quick dinner, hoping they would have good Pho. The restaurant that was previously in this location was also Vietnamese and I was disappointed when they closed. I ordered the #5 Beef Pho and Meatballs, but asked for it without the meatballs since they didn't have a beef only option. The Basil was wilted and brown, and the Pho did not come with limes or fresh jalapenos. Instead, they had pickled jalapenos and lemons upon request. The flavor of the Pho was ok, however the portion seemed small for dinner. I also ordered the fried eggroll, which was stuffed with carrot filler. Woodbury doesn't have many options for Pho, so I may venture back to get my Pho fix occasionally, or try their chicken curry. I did mention a few of these items to the waiter since he had asked, and his response was "can't please everyone."

Duc's has amazing food. It's hiding in a strip mall but don't let that fool you. Yummy from the appetizer to dessert. There's plenty of vegetables and the sauces don't overpower the main ingredients. Lunch is usually packed but once the 3Mers clear out, you can always find a table at dinner. Last time I went for dinner, there was nothing left over to take home.

Yuck, what had to be the most terrible Pho I ever had. Cold over cooked noodles. Definitely frozen rubber chicken with some weird after taste. Stale cream cheese puffs fried like what seemed days before. Will never go again and have learned that I should have driven the extra 3 miles to University to get better food.

This place is just the kind of place I like; kind of a hole in the wall.... These are always the places to get real authentic food. Try their Pho, its out of this world. I hope they never get big; that is when quality goes down hill!

I've only been here twice. Nothing stood out. But for a divey strip mall, it's a good go to place if you are in Maplewood. They have a pioneer press review posted. What stood out was that it had the best wonton soup ever, and it does. Some very cheap lunch specials. If they don't include the soup, get it anyway.

I went for lunch on a weekday, and the lunch special was pretty good, with a very large portion and reasonable price. But the whole experience was ruined by the terrifying lunatic of a manager. He seems to scream everything he says -- not in a mean way, mind you, more in a very pushy, overbearing, "aren't-I-so-hilarious" way. He was actually very mean in loudly berating the cooks, which made everyone with earshot uncomfortable (i.e., everyone within a 10-mile radius). I wouldn't have been surprised if he pulled out a line of coke and started snorting it -- he was that kind of guy. I won't be back.

We have been searching for a good Chinese place for awhile. We called in an order for pick up. Friendly service and excellent food. We were surprised since you never know with this kind of food. The fried rice was tasty without being overloaded with soy sauce. Lemon chicken and won tons delicious! It is located is in a strip mall and seemed clean. The food was very fresh tasting and I loved that. One of the best places in this area for Chinese!

Went here for lunch today with my wife. It took a ridiculous amount of time for them to take our order, and then even longer to get our food. This was odd, since the place really wasn't that busy. The server was nice, but didn't refill our glasses until well into the meal. My wife had the Cashew Chicken, which lacked taste. Her Egg Roll was quite good -- actually the best part of her meal. I ordered the Beef with Lemongrass and Onion Rice Noodle Salad. It was quite tasty, and was a generous serving. There wasn't a lot of Beef, but the sauce and noodles were good. It also included cucumber in the salad, which added an unexpected taste. The prices for lunch were around $7, so with drinks (diet coke) the total was about $20 for the two of us.

This is a new 2nd location of the Ducs in Maplewood. The decor is much nicer and as always the food great. My wife and I love the Pho (she gets #4 and I get # 6). Last night the owner served us and suggested green beans in black sauce with chicken. It's their most popular dish but not on the menu because they won't make unless they have access to fresh green beans. It was great.

Excellant! Dropped by on a Saturday night and the place was almost empty around 7 PM. But had a great meal...fresh veggies, perfect spices and large portions. The place is clean and cheerful. the young wait staff were personable with a great sense of humor. I'd go back again and again.

My husband and I had takeout here for the first time recently and were very satisfied. We called ahead and requested that the food be ready in about an hour so we could finish up some errands. The food was hot and freshly prepared when we arrived. I had the deep fried tilapia in garlic sauce, which was recommended in a Woodbury newsletter, and it lived up to its high praises. The other items we picked, including the Singapore Noodles with Chicken and the Spring rolls were well prepared, but not nearly as unique. Given the excellent service and the one outstanding dish, we will be returning to Duc's soon.

Food was average; service was slow...and confused. Most attention seemed directed to regulars. It took a long time to get all our entrees and even longer to get the waiters attention and get our rice. Any chain restaurant in the area would have been a better choice.

This is our favorite oriental restaurant on the east side. We have been going back for years. My experience here has always been great. The egg rolls have a nice flaky crust and the chicken coconut curry with veggies is great.

Consistently has the best Vietnamese in Woodbury! The beef and potatoes are to die for!
