Stopped here on my continuing adventure to try food places that are located by my new apartment. This place is practically right across the street. I had to give it a shot! I really wanted pizza and I had struck out earlier in the week with Punch Neopolitan Pizza. I gave Gina Maria's a try. The guy behind the counted said their specialty was the thin crust pizza. So I ordered one of those along with some garlic cheese bread. The service was very friendly, and in no time at all I had a pizza in front of me. The crust was very good. Nice and crisp. Not tough or burnt. Had a nice seasoned flavor to it. The red sauce was pretty standard, but the toppings were delicious, well spaced, and evenly covered with gooey cheese that was cooked just right. Very well done. The garlic cheese bread was a little too full of cheese for my taste. I think there was more cheese than bread, but the bread was also very nice. The only downside was that the tub of marinara was really cold - like it was pre-portioned into those cups and stored in a fridge. Overall though, excellent pizza and friendly service. Well priced too. I'll be back!

Gina Maira's is the antithesis of the pizza joint that occupied the space previously. The old place, Carbonie's, was good if you are into pizza that acts as an unholy grease and garlic delivery system. After a few beers, I can most certainly get into that. Gina's, however, takes a different approach, wooing you with high quality ingredients, a great thin crust and pretty darn good service. It's hard to compare with anything else. If you remember Davanni's back in the 80's before they decided to start selling frozen pizza at Lund's, then that's the best example I can give. It's solid, normal, tasty pizza. No super wild "gourmet" options. I've only had it once, but will definitely try it again. If it's consistently as good as it was on my first try, I'll definitely be adding more stars.

So, normally I don't pan locally owned restaurants... there are plenty of chains that almost always more fully deserve my ire... that said, to say that Gina Maria's pizza is simply not the worst pizza I have ever had would be a slight exaggeration... I am sure that some of the "pizza" that I had in the school cafeteria was on par. Thought I'd give them a try, being "in the burbs" pizza options are fairly limited... Broadway offers a fairly decent, standard "Midwestern" pizza, Punch is about as good as you can get out here, though Joey Nova's in Excelsior does a reasonable facsimile of a NY style pie... of course there are other, Latuffes, Dominos, Pizza Hut, Green Mill, Old Chicago, all of which offer "okay" pizza, nothing exciting for sure, but I was really hoping that Gina Maria's might be that Diamond in the Rough that I've been looking for. Since I moved out of Minneapolis proper, a good slice of pie is hard to come by (even by MN Pizza Standards). It is true that none of the pizzas in this town hold up to NY or even Chicago pies, but there are places that deliver a good slice worthy of the "Pizza" name. So, I took the plunge, dropped $20 on a large thin crust (their specialty) with Pepperoni, Sausage and Mushroom. Pizza arrived on time, the delivery fella was friendly, so far so good. The first bite - bad... the sauce has some distinctive, BAD flavor to it, I wish I knew what it is, but it was too "spiced" (and no, Im not talking SPICY" but too much Italian seasoning or something. The cheese was, to put it mildly, just plain bad, reminiscent of some kind of ultra processed store bought by the slice kind of cheese. The sausage, too much fennel, the pepperoni, bad, bargain store bought quality... The kicker, the crust, it HAS to be some sort of frozen, bought in bulk crust, had all the perforations that you come to expect from pre made frozen crust. A pizza joint that is too cheap/lazy to make their own dough/crust is not worth my time... period. I ate 2 pieces, the rest went in the garbage. Just my opinion on this one of course, pizza is certainly one of those things that can be very personal from a taste perspective, but I just don't remember any time that I had a pizza where everything was wrong... can't recommend this one, by a long shot... Dominos is Cleary a better choice here, and I HATE Dominos...

I've picked up wings and each type of pizza within the last month and I'm disappointed to say, this pizza place should be skipped over. The thin crust and New York style are...okay. The deep dish was inedible. It was overdone and tasteless. It was, quite possibly, the most cardboard-like crust I've ever eaten. The sauce on the thin and New York (the same sauce, I think) was tasty but nothing special. The crust is either frozen or otherwise prepackaged. There are holes punched in the crust that obviously came from a machine. I wanted to like this place. I wanted to eat decent pizza. The staff was friendly enough but that won't bring me back. Decent pizza dough isn't that hard to make, care enough about keeping your customers to put in the effort. If I want to eat pizza like this again, I'll get it at the gas station for 1/2 the price.

Best delivery pizza in the area, by far - we've done the national chains (both delivery and take out), no more! Gina Maria's pizza has fantastic ingredients, in tasty combos. We just tried their taco and Greek pizzas - yuuuuuum-ay!

Pizza

Pizza is a famous Italian dish savored around the world. The entire credit for the popularity of Pizza in the United States goes to the chain of pizzerias all over the country. While the base and the texture of Pizza remains same across the globe, it's the toppings that differs from country to country. In the United States, you will find the top pizzerias serving pizzas with the toppings of mainly beef, bacon, chicken, ham, and sausage for the non-vegetarians. Other than these famous meat options, Pizzas with veg toppings such as mushrooms, pepperonis, garlic, tomatoes, spinach, etc. are also famous in most restaurants in the United States.

Irrespective of your locality, you will find a variety of different restaurants in your cities offering pizzas of all different types. Pizza is hot favorite among people of all ages in the United States. A large size pizza is enough to feed a family of 3 or 4 at large. Pizza is also the most preferred food whenever a group of friends is hanging out together. Pizza gained popularity in the United States after the American soldiers stationed in Italy returned from World War II.

Over the years, different pizzerias in the United States have developed their own respective regional variations. Pizza gained popularity as the iconic dish in the United States in the second half of the 20th century. Whether you prefer thin or thick crust pizza, you can find a pizza of your preference at the best pizza restaurants in your city.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
