My husband and I have had nothing but great experiences here over many years. We had our first official date here in 2005, so when my brother-in-law recommended this place for our reception (he had his reception here in 2002, about 50), we were more than happy to look into it. This family-run business was very happy to help us plan what turned out to be one of the best receptions that our friends and family can remember attending. On New Year's Eve 2012, we had a luncheon reception for about 120 attendees with Chicken Parmigiana, beef or vegetarian lasagna or a Chicken Caesar Salad that was simply enormous. The Christmas decor was particularly fantastic for the wedding reception! My vegetarian friends still rave over the eggplant lasagna (reputedly a secret family recipe), and we've been back a few times since the wedding for Valentine's Day and an anniversaries. My husband usually has the Chicken Parmigiana (aka, "Parmesan Encrusted Breast of Chicken alla Parmigiana") and I alternate between the Steak Siciliano or New York Sirloin or Chicken Marsala. For Valentine's Day, they pull in the entire staff and have a limited menu -- with all the best dishes and our favorites -- which means that even though the place is PACKED, you get your dinner quickly and service is not shoddy. In short, this place with very tasty food and a romantic atmosphere beats the pants off of Olive Garden!

Very nice restaurant. Service is usually pretty good. Menu food is just okay, other than their french onion soup, which is stellar. However, their Sunday brunch is one of the "BEST" I've ever had, earning them a solid 4 stars :-)

I have been going to this restaurant for over 20 years There has been great food times, ok food times and bad food times, but I think this time is quits time. The food is not worth your hard earned money and the menu is out of date.$ 40 dollars for a lobster tail you can get added on to your dinner for $7.99 at Red lobster is putting it lightly. When they are microwaving baked potatoes and serving reheated chicken (the worst chicken parmesan of my life!) This place lacks quality in food Product they have cheeped it down but not the price. Sadly I am disappointed but not surprise after so many years of owning a restaurant I think these guys are just burned out. I think maybe it's time to sell or invest in a real chef.

If I could give this restaurant zero stars I would. We had a horrible experience right from the beginning when a waiter or waitress never came to wait on us. Finally after sitting at our table for nearly 15 minutes, a waiter noticed us sent someone over to wait on us. There were so many things wrong with our food. We were served the wrong appetizer, our steaks were more than well done when we ordered them medium, the veal Marsala was floating in grease, our side dishes were served when we were half way through our entrees, then we were brought the wrong kind of risotto (ordered lobster risotto and was served mushroom risotto which tasted disgusting). Then we found a long, blonde hair in our cheesecake. Even worse than all of this was our server's (Mike, who also was the man at the front seating people) attitude when we asked to change a side dish to something else. I would not recommend this place to anyone. It is way too expensive for the extremely poor service and barely edible food.

This was my last dining experience on a week long road trip - it was memorable. A memory that I hope fades quickly. This was one of those situations where breakfast was light, I had not eaten lunch and was approaching starvation which is a bad place to be if you have any aspirations for quality dining and have not done any Yelp research. So prior to leaving the worksite we asked for food recommendations and settled on Fratello's. Mildly afraid of the exterior we ventured in. The decor is dark and dingy. It was immediately apparent that this space was a smoking area for years. That carpet will have to go if that smell is ever to go away. The smell was not only still prevalent but you could see the evidence on the stained walls. We ordered fried calamari to get started. I was shocked when it came out 2 mins later lukewarm. The calamari were 1x1 cm strips that appeared to be artificial. In my state of hunger I ate more than I should have which should have been none. They were not good. Luckily a fly decided to join in and I let em at it after that. Next up was salad. I had a Caesar and it was ok. With the fly there to assist we were done with it in no time. For a main course I had a steak with marsala and mushrooms, I finished about half of it. Overall it was not my worst dining experience but I would not come back or recommend.

Okay, so I went here for a work Christmas party. Let me start off by saying, the place is gorgeous. Very dark inside with dim mood lighting and the walls have a nice texture to them. Kind of reminds me of a mafia style place on the Soprano's or something. However........ The food was not too impressive. I took the safe bet and ordered pasta since after all, this is an Italian Restaurant. I figured the pasta would be amazing. Ummm, not so much. The fettuccine alfredo lacked flavor big time. I literally poured a pound of salt on it to even taste it. My side salad was just a salad; nothing special. The bread however was really good. But as stated, the pasta was bland, bland, bland. Some other folks at the table said their food was only so-so also. Oh, I forgot to mention that we all had appetizers and the little chicken wings were really, really good. We had a ton of appetizers too and only the wings stand out for me. Maybe this would be a good stop for some wings and bread??? As for my drink, I've had better. I ordered a frozen margarita and it too was bland. I then ordered a mixed drink later to switch it up and it was weak. So, two thumbs down for the drinkage. Long story short, nice looking place but the food left something to be desired. P.S. I did not have dessert but several people within our party did; they all said the dessert made up for their mediocre meal. They said the dessert was fantastic. Maybe I'll go back some time and get wings, bread, and dessert. Mmmmm, sounds healthy!

Went there for Father's day brunch. For the price you pay, $13.99, it's not a bad meal. The there was nothing super-spectacular about the food, but the selection was fairly decent, including omelets, Belgian waffles, blintzes, and some lunch selections, as well. Overall, not a bad experience. I would certainly go there again!

Worst experience ever. Waited at door for ten minutes until someone acknowledged us. Chicken marsala was greasy and tasted old..scallops were salty and gritty(clearly uncleaned)..bad experience..super disappointed

Let's go fishin' I'm going to catch me some perch on the Detroit River. No, I didn't go fishing, but I had some really good lake perch. It was lightly breaded and pan fried. Very hot, fresh tasing, and perfectly prepared. There is a hot bread basket before lunch arrives, mmmm too good. Had iced tea with lunch, but would have preferred a glass of wine with the fish. This is an "old style" italian restaurant. It is decorated rather nicely. It has a very welcoming feeling, just like an Italain wedding. They have some great fair size, comfortable booths. The lighting for lunch is a little low for me, but an evening dinner could be a romantic place to be. They also have catering and a banquet facility. This is a good lunch place to go. The prices are very reasonable.

Classic wood bar, nice and kinda dark, but in a good way, in a way a bar should be. A little more upscale crowd than, say, down the road at C-Dawgz, but still down to earth and cool people. The servers in the dining rooms all wear matching black-collared shirts and black slacks. Elegant. You might see some people coming with their whole family here for a semi-formal dinner for birthday celebrations, anniversaries, etc. They have a nice marble entrance area that I've seen people use for family photos. One the bar side, for happy hour they put out some complimentary hors d'oeuvres that are usually pretty good and give you a good indication of what the kitchen can do. The staff behind the bar is always friendly and relaxed, and you can order food there, too. This place is a nice addition Downriver because there are not too many restaurant/bars down that way that have this mix of class and casual.

There are 3 things I take into consideration when judging a restaurant ...First and most important...Cleanliness, then food and finally service. Cleanliness...5 Food...2 Service...4 We had never been and we tried it out...The place was spotless and the bathroom were amazingly clean...Food needed some serious TLC...Way to salty...Catering style...Meatballs were like a rubber ball...Nothing was fresh...Production food...Menu was to big...They don't live by the law..."FRESH"...Shorten up the menu and they wouldn't have to freeze everything...Not worth the money!

Bread is great, decor is nice, service and food quality are lacking. I've been here a number of times for rehearsal dinners and the such, never overly impressed. The staff always seem a little irritated. The food is over priced and not cooked with much love. If you are looking for drinks and a nice fireplace, stop in, otherwise stay clear.

Stop number two on our road trip brought us to Fratellos. The place was massive. I can totally picture a 1984 bar mitzvah taking place there. Anyway we were sat right away with friendly service. I ordered the Cajun Salmon Salad and had mixed opinions. If you're hungry, this was a great place cause the portions were HUGE. My salmon was cooked well and the blue cheese crumbles were in abundance. The raspberry vinaigrette dressing was great but really didn't seem to go with the spicy fish. I was hesitant about the unstuffed pepper soup but was pleasantly surprised. Very hearty, but still light. All in all it was pretty good.

I've had mixed experiences at Fratello's. First of all, pasta is dirt cheap and charging more than 7 or 8 bucks for a plateful is just a plain ripoff. That said, I never order pasta in a restaurant, as it's never better than home made, and you can feed an army for pennies. The Chateaubriand for two is delicious and so is the (seasonal) Surf and Turf. I have seen some wonderful Filet Mignon come to the table there, but also some real duds. We had a family function with nearly 20 people during the weekend brunch (buffet) service and had a very nice experience. I can not personally complain about any of the waitstaff. Overall, a bit pricy for what it is. Miami Vice and the 80s didn't really age all that well. Good place to impress a first date if it's her first day off the farm.

I have multiple complaints about your restaurant. I was in there with my family. We were celebrating my younger brothers acceptance and departure to medical school; There were 16 of us. My mother called ahead of time to make the reservations, so this was NOT a "just showed up" sort of thing. First, our server (woman, forgot her name), she had to take care of all 16 of us by herself! We all felt sorry for her as she was rushing back and forth, your cooks not preparing the correct meals or correct temperatures. We could tell she was just about to scream. She said she had been there ever since 9am, and had no help?! There was another man (manager?) that came by here and there. My mother tried to use a $100 Restaurant.com gift certificate, which I had bought and given her earlier that night. The man talked quietly at first, but then when he was explaining to her that the gift certificate couldn't be used, he had raised his voice in a broadcast-like volume so everyone at our tables and around us could hear. This was very embarrassing and enraged me because of how he did this. I wanted to speak with him myself afterwards, but my mother, grandmother, and 3 aunts were begging me not to. They saw how angry this made me that he showed that much disrespect and knew I don't tolerate that at all. He wasn't helping out our server hardly at all (taking some plates away was it), and then this. Our server did not receive the tip she deserved. She should have received a 20% tip off the initial amount, which should have been at least $50-60. My mother and the man were discussing the gift certificate by the bar and reached an amount, since MANY things had been cooked/prepared incorrectly or just forgot about. When they did this, the server only received $35-40 on her tip. My mother didn't take into account the tip. They took the tip amount from the end result of the bill instead of the initial total, which ended up shorting the server on it. I had ordered a 20 oz. prime rib, which I did NOT receive a prime rib cut. I have ordered this before. The steak I received wasn't a prime rib cut and it was also smaller in size than what I had received before (my family of 6 had each ordered one that previous night). I did not want to stress our server out even more, so I never alerted her and ate it anyways. As you can see, I have MANY displeasures about your restaurant from last night. In no way am I agitated by the server. I'm irritated by how the man (manager?) handled our group and how he left her to do EVERYTHING on her own. This was horrible managing and we felt terrible for her. It was just an all-around horrible experience. If you'd like to speak about anything further, how we can resolve this (or try to), you can reach me on my cell phone # provided. Also, I want to make sure that the server receives double the tip that was given, since she was shorted last night.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
