We went late-night last night (Thursday) to grab some dinner, and we had a great time. Thursday must be dance-party night, because there was a great DJ and fashionably dressed college kids dancing and drinking on the patio, and a really fun group of people in back hustling. It's cool because there are 2 completely separate areas, and the music doesn't overlap, even though it's loud in both places. If you're looking for a quiet dinner, don't come on a Thursday night, but if you're looking to party, check it out! We tried the fried pickles this time, and they're really good. They're not beating Blarney Stone's, but they're close!

Stopped in here this week for a late lunch, because I've passed it many times and the patio looks amazing. The patio itself isn't large but has a pretty cozy feel. Everything around it is currently under construction so parking on the street is scarce. But you can find something around here. The first thing I noticed was the happy hour special. Holy cow. It was something like $3 house wines and $2 beers. Absolutely insane. And it's 4-7 every single day. That's gotta be one of the best in the city. I will be back for that. I ended up getting a panini that had tomatoes, cheese, and pesto on it. The sandwich size was a bit small but it was tastefully done. The fries were perfectly crunchy and they gave you a decent portion. There are a ton of booths in the back of the building with a sizable amount of tvs. It would be great for games or big parties. The entrees themselves are reasonably priced too. I will definitely be back. Overall: holy happy hour, this place is great for that alone.

This is our go-to for Friday night...a couple of cold beers and a good burger or Philly cheesesteak. The fries are quite good - the other food is okay but nothing to write home about. The service at the bar is great and at tables the wait staff is very friendly and tries really hard. In good weather we like to sit on the patio. Wish they were open on Sundays.

This place is right around the corner from me. Nothing too special about this place. At first I thought it was just a little tiny bar, but if you walk off to the side and into the back, there's more seating and tables. Didn't have any food here, so I can't say anything about that. Loved the drinks though, a little strong, but heyyyy I'm not complaining.

Thursday nights are a fantastic intro to the weekend! 2 DJs all night long. Drink and food specials. Great Midtown option!!

The staff is friendly and attentive and the food-esp the pizzas- was good. The open air part in the front of the car looked inviting but we had a ten top so sat in the dining room. It seemed run down and dreary. The sauce served with the mozzarella sticks was great-fresh basil added a lot. The salsa was great too- homemade and perfectly seasoned. The shroom pizza and the pesto pizza were well balanced. The caprese pizza had great flavor but I expected blobs of fresh moz and visible tomato. The BBQ chicken pizza was standard. The crust was not too thin nor too thick and had great flavor. Spruce up the dining room and they would fill this place!!

I like this spot! The bartender was friendly, attentive, and made suggestions. I didn't try the food as this was a quick stop, but I will go back for it. It is quant and the outside patio is lit by tiki torches with is pretty cool. You can catch the breeze inside while sitting at the bar because the garage door is raised (I love that feature). They have happy hour specials. I am looking forward to trying a pizza. There is metered parking so bring a quarter or two if coming before 10pm.

Never quite experienced anything like this before. They messed up our order 3 times, and the last version came out with raw salmon. When we said we were ready to forget it and go, we still had to pay for our meal. This is coming from someone who never complains at restaurants and is really easy to please when it comes to anything food related.

wow what a find! wonderful place for lunch. Had the margarita pizza...yummy. My two friends had a Michigan salad, so large you could eat 3 times from it...and the other friend had the black bean burger, enourmous!! will definitely go back...service was fast and attentive. love this place!!

Came here with a large party of coworkers on Thursday around 11:30am and there were only 2-3 other tables occupied aside from ours. I quickly settled on the BBQ chicken pizza 12" size ($9.50). I thought that this particular pizza's ingredients did not include cheese on the menu (which I suppose is unlikely now that I think about it in retrospect, or maybe the cheese component of pizza is understood and only the pizzas with extra kinds of cheeses had them explicitly listed). The BBQ chicken pizza has BBQ sauce instead of the typical tomato-based pizza sauce, along with grilled chicken, red peppers, and onions. I don't eat BBQ sauce or BBQ-flavored things often but I really liked the sweetness of the sauce in contrast with the saltiness of the cheese and meat. The burgers and sandwiches looked much more blah than the pizzas at our table, so I would recommend getting a pizza if you come! There were at least 12 of us and our young waitress was so nice about handling the many orders and splitting the check. Altogether with tax and tip, I paid ~$12 for a yummy lunch and I still have half a pizza left so the prices are very fair.

Drive by this spot all the time, finally decided to stop in. Place is a lot bigger then it looks, love the space. Food was amazingly awesome and Hailey (sorry if I spelled it wrong) the bar tender was amazing! They were down a server and she was all over the place, taking care of business. I work in the restaurant/bar biz, 15 years now and she is the type of person I would like to be to work with every day!!! Oh and did I mention, that have amazing specials everyday..... If you are ever Down on cass in the Wayne state area, stop in. Hopefully your experience is the same as mine!

Consistently slow for lunch, no matter how empty or crowded. My office won't go here anymore because we can't get in and out in an hour. Portions are large. Maybe dinner is better.

I'd love to give Tony V's 4 stars because their food is good, but man, the service is so, so slow. My coworkers and I are about a block away and have stopped in regularly over the last year, and we're always waiting longer than you should for a restaurant that's not located in the Caribbean. Every time we stop in we think it'll be different, but it never is. The servers are great so I think something's gotta change in that kitchen. All that said, drinks come in a timely fashion and their huge garage-door style window in the front makes it a great spot to chill on a nice day.

The food was good the service was great. Served a party 20 with ease. Salad, pizza, and wings were delicious. Thank you Tony and Kim for helping us celebrate Roderick graduation!

Went there the 1st time in a huge group to celebrate one of my g/f's b'day. The waitress kept messing up the order. She was sweet and apologetic, so it was alright. We ordered a few diff kinds of pizza.. I was not impressed with the food. Won't be back.. since there are so many other, better places to visit in Detroit.

i think this place just opened a week or two ago and hasn't had a grand opening yet. so that being said, my experience was probably with the soft opening, so it might not be as representative of how good it could be very soon. it's a really great open space, cool chandeliers, and big tables. the dining room also had several tvs on each wall, which was weird in an otherwise calming space, but probably will be appreciated. the front area where the garage door is is a bar/lounge area with pretty seats and coffee tables. i came here for lunch with a friend and we sat in a booth in the bigger back section (the seats were super squishy) and split the burger and the reuben, which both came with fries. the burger was fine but nothing remarkable. on the bigger side though if you're looking for that. the reuben was decent, but heavy on the meat and light on the kraut, which is the part i like best. i also asked for provolone instead of the swiss it came with but it came with swiss anyway. and i asked for white or sourdough bread instead of the marbled rye, but got the marbled rye. the marbled rye was the fluffier, not as dense, kind of bread, so it was actually close enough to white for me. but that's what i get for trying to make nonsensical substitutions. the reuben also had a sauce on it (that i forgot to ask them to leave off haha) that tasted and looked like ketchup with spices. i think there are a lot of places that do a reuben better around here, but i also don't think that's their main attraction here, so it might not matter. oh and the fries here are steak fries, which are my least favorite fry cut could have been crispier. we were there early, so only one of a few tables and the service was good. our waitress brought us everything we needed and was nice enough but kind of abrasive. the food was on the cheap side and we were both completely stuffed at the end of our meal and still had a few things boxed. my friend, who works next door, has been here several times and mentioned that their pizzas are really good. i would definitely come back and try that, even though i don't like getting pizza out. it also seems like a really nice bar to hang out for an evening visit and they seem to have a good happy hour. i'm looking forward to coming back and trying them again in a non-lunch setting and updating this.

As a fellow Tony, I was welcomed heartily by the owner, whose name is Tony. I've been three times, and Tony was wandering around saying hi and asking how everything was. Love Tony V's for the big spot-hitting burgers and happy-hour specials ($3 house wines, $2.75 draft beers). David the bartender is a powerlifting hoot. A propos of nothing, the World Cup match between Ecuador and Honduras was on yesterday. I did not realize this city had so many honorary Hondurans (Honderosas?). And that Hondurans look suspiciously similar to Wayne State students. Live music yesterday, too. Meh.

I've been to Tony V's three times now. The first two visits both had problems with the wait staff. I think this was the first job waiting tables for both of these people. They just didn't know what to do. They weren't there today on my final visit. Today I had the chicken wrap. The chicken was disgusting. It tasted old, leathery and full of gristle. It wasn't just me either. My buddy had the same thing and his was every bit as gross as well. We told the waitress. She said she would speak with the "chef", but there was no visit from the manager or attempt to take charges off the bill. On the way out of the restaurant, the manager asked our party how we enjoyed our lunch. No one said a word. I have no idea how this restaurant got such high ratings. If they were actually true, there would have been more than 10 people at lunch today. I don't see Tony V's being around much longer.

Try the amaretto hot chocolate for a late night cap in Detroit. Perfect winter drink and good service. The place is clean and cozy and easily accessible for those at WSU or visiting the Midtown area. I haven't tried the food but everyone was ordering the pizza so it seems like a safe bet.

Went here the other night with a large group. Really nice atmosphere with the large doors open and friendly staff. We ordered 5 pizzas and they didn't disappoint. All 5 were great, not to mention the reasonable prices. The beer list had a nice selection of Michigan beer. It's nice to see a new restaurant in Detroit!!!

This place is a great new spot that opened up recently. The food is good, the prices are decent but what cannot be beat is the amazing service!!! All of the staff go out of their way to make you comfortable and that is something to be cherished in midtown- bars that actually cater to their customer's needs with out the pretentious blow off are few and far between in this neck of the woods. Love this place and plan to return soon and often!

Love the remodel from when it was Alvin's! The owner was going to tables and asking how everything was. I like that. Food was good but too a little longer than it prolly should have. There was only one server on the floor on a Saturday night. She was really nice but could have used another on the floor or a server assistant. I will be back, but there is some room for improvement and ironing out a few things. I wish them all the success and encourage anyone to check the place out.

Service is great. Good craft beer selection. I had the tony v special pizza. Excellent. Thin crust with wonderful toppings. The atmosphere is wonderful, especially being off of Cass in midtown. A great Detroit spot.
