A five star just because it is part of what is dying in the Cass Corridor area it is still a true dive with a good people that used to be part of what made Cass Corridor great on a Saturday night going to Mitch's comet SABS for all the other good hole in the walls they now unfortunately have to cater a little bit too the corduroy pants and flannel shirts and knit caps that have renamed this area Midtown but it has not affected the charm and what makes this place great go there because you like the people and appreciate what it still is in an area that is changing for the better I am sure but it is nice to still have the piece that feels like home the owners are absolute gems and will always buy you a round

This is the kind of bar you go to when you have no idea where you are or what time it is and no one knows who wanted to go there in the first place. It felt like the type of place where you could start a fire in a trash can and drink out of paper bags and that would be okay. I think one of those fake, silver christmas trees from the fifties all decorated and set up in a corner year-round would belong. I liked it.

A true Detroit dive. Cheap beer, cheap whiskey, stage for local bands, jukebox, a few arcade games. I only pop in here every now and again. It's just down the road from Wayne State but the immediate corner it's on doesn't really hold much anything else of interest or promise. To me, Jumbos is a good spot to start or end the night, but not the type of place you'd want to spend the entire evening at. Side note: No AC. On those hot summer nights, it's HOT in here.

A must stop if you are from the real d. Cindy is a wonderful person. Always smiling and her and her staff is great.

Love the dive bar. It was a nice visit for a cheap drink. The bartender was nice and we sampled different mixers with the vodka I had chose. It was some weir flavor and she wasn't sure of what went well with it. They have a TV and it was playing Transformers when I was there. Interesting choice. I can tell that they have a regular, older crowd as the gentlemen came it for a beer and to sit outside. I went early in the dead, so it was dead. It is a bit dark lighting wise, but I would go back to this nostalgic place.

We were there on a Saturday night and it was quite dead. Cool Place. Didn't love it and I didn't hate it. I'm pretty sure I have played there before but those days were a bur. Probably cooler when something is happening.

This is an old, old bar....my parents hung here in the 50's when they were drivers for the Checker Cab company, and were good friends with Jumbo himself! I have been in this bar many many times as a child, and a few times as a young adult...it was seedy and a little scarey! I am pleased to see its still open and has a whole new life! I have some pictures of my parents (now deceased) hanging out at the place with Jumbo that I will have to post soon....and a little trivia...Captain Boblo and his wife lived in the apartment above the bar! I am in my later 60's I believe the last time I was in Jumbos was about 1967!

Please do go here. It's the best. Leave my hole in the wall alone. Great jukebox. Very nice people. Great beer prices.

Great bar with zero attitude. Not for the faint hearted. A place where college kids, hipsters, pot heads, office workers, nurses, ex cons, and nerds can hang out. No attitude, drama, or pretentious ass holes.

The perfect neighborhood bar. Jumbo's doesn't put on airs and try and pretend they are anything they are not-- just a fun bar full of fun people. The croud ranges from old guys at the bar, college kids, hipsters, rock-n-rollers, artists, actors, and everyone else in between, some with their dogs in tow-- yes, this place is dog friendly! Score! The bartenders (Stephanie and Holly especially!) are sassy and fun, drinks are strong and cheap, and I always find myself having a deep intellectual conversation with some people I'vejust met out on the patio. To top things off, the owner, Cindy, is the sweetest lady you'll ever meet! An extra bonus-- One of the bartenders, Stephanie, is a licensed hair stylist, and will occasionally give really awesome haircuts at the bar during the day! I know, because she's cut my hair twice, and never have I recieved so many compliments on a cut! :)

Omg. if you write a bad review about this place, you have serious freaking issues.. I would say the kind of issues that are due to the fact nobody likes you and you are a jerk in public.. It is a total mom and pops bar burried deep in the cass corridor. i will stand behind the fact is that there are only one of about four bars south of forest in the cass corridor and this is my favorite to loose bikes at. If you are here in search of epicurian wonder, then you are in the wrong part of town. Imaging if you will, a hole in the wall bar in the hood. They serve PBR and cheap whiskey. TIght internet jukebox, darts, food to snack on occasionally. It's a yelpers nightmare. They occasionally host really fun dance parties too. Nothing special, just a great bar to get loaded at and chat with the locals. The bartenders are sassy and funny as hell. If this isn't your speed, you should check out the comet and temple bars. Perfect little dive bar in the corridor. The patio space outside is a pretty nice spot to hang out on Sunday.

This is my neighborhood bar. Its perfect. It has a HUJGE spectrum of customers. Mostly its just hood-rats, but sometimes there's a crowd. Mostly its crickets, but sometimes its bumpin. Given, of course, that I only go out on the weekdays, so for ME, its usually crickets and neighbs, which is what I want. Their jukebox is sweet! Its got everything from classic country to rap. And you will hear songs in a freaky weird order too::: country, rap, slow jams, 90s alternative, metal. Ive been here some nights where people play the same song twice in a ROW! Who does that??? I love it! The barmaids are good. I'm a shot and a beer kind of girl so its easy for me. Their mixed drinks will sometimes be tall and other times be short. So if you want it short, ask for it that way! The porch is small but everyone there is friendly, so just sit dat ass down and say hi. BIKES::: Unless you have a cable lock to go around the wide-street-light outside, just bring yr bike inside.

clutch the pearl girls - this is a real hoe and pimp bar. no kidding. I was in here one nite with a friend by accident and saw the whole bitchslapping thing play out at the bar right beside me. wow.. this place is action packed and the owners are packing too. the drinks are watered down but the action is live and in full effect on saturdays I hear. on the street parking makes it easy and their patio is open in the warm months. all in all a pretty good dive bar.

Yes, service here can really suck., but the karoke on Saturday night is awesome!!! The building itself is nice now that some remodeling was done.

When you're here, you're family. But not in an Olive Garden, Mafioso family way, but a dysfunctional crazy uncle family way.

If you're looking for a true Detroit dive bar, I highly suggest this Midtown joint. Located on Third Street, this bar is a must for those looking to get a really taste of Detroit. On any given night patrons, from firefighters to hipsters enjoy cheap drinks, PBR's are 2 bucks, and a unending entertaining atmosphere. Jumbo's is the kinda place where you never know who'll be next tow walk through the door. And if you're really looking for some entertainment, go on Saturday when Jumbo's hosts one of the raddest karaoke nights in metro Detroit! If you're looking for cheap booze and down to earth folks, Jumbo's may soon be you're new home away form home.

I can't think of a better place to drink cheap beer and watch a Tigers game than Jumbo's.

The ultimate Detroit neighborhood bar!! If you have a problem with the bartenders, you probably deserve it. The crowd is just about as diverse as you can get. You never know whom you might meet there.

Great place to pick up a cheap date for one night - if you know what I mean. Don't go there if you are afraid of weird people and pimps.

So I supposeeee I might be some-what biased, since my good friend's mom owns this bar. Butttttt when you are looking for a fun, chill, big smile kinda night I would recommend it here. It's like cheers....D-style. Karaoke is fun, Juke Box=great selection, having a sloppy joe and jello shots make for priceless fun :)

I love Detroit dive bars...and Jumbo's is just that! Saturday night has to be my personal favorite with karaoke hosted by Terri-Oke herself! $2 PBR's and round of applause for singing "Bust a Move"...What could be better?

One word...'Jamila'! She is the best bartender....ask for her and order a Jagerbomb!
