Clark’s Ice Cream And Yogurt Menu

Clark's has the best ice cream.

Clarks serves Ashleys and Mooneys both premium product. They carry all of the crowd pleasing favorites but nothing too unusual. Serving sizes are large. The child size is the normal small at most places. Great value. Yummy ice cream. It gets more difficult to find hard ice cream every day. Support Clarks.

I may be getting sentimental, but I miss the Ice Box (Clark's prior self). That being said, Clark's is good for a neighborhood ice cream joint. It's no Ray's Ice Cream nor Ice Box, but it's nice nonetheless. Someone below mentioned that it's the only place with peppermint ice cream around. Ray's often has a delicious homemade peppermint ice cream - better than what you can get at Clark's. The atmosphere and service seem just a bit better at Ray's as well. I don't really live near either Ray's of Clark's anymore, but I will drive right past Clark's to get to Ray's any day.

Ugh. I will never be back to Clark's ice cream. The guy who served us was so rude and unhelpful, it ruined the entire experience. It was a crowded Saturday afternoon, and there was barely enough room to look at the flavors, I saw "banana" and thought - oh I'll try that, not realizing that it had bits of cookie in it (that I'm allergic too) - I quickly realized, apologized and asked the server if I could get something else instead - he laughed and said "uhh hah...yeah, i don't think so".

Clark's is a local institution, and is famous for its obscenely large scoop sizes. It is recommended to get either a small or a children's size, unless you are engaged in a civil war with your left ventricle. The sundaes and malts are always spectacular, and the prices are super reasonable. On a warm summer's day there is nothing better than sitting on the benches outside of Clark's with 1000 calories of frozen goodness. The only issue I take with Clark's is the lack of variety in their flavors. What they have is fine, but they never have had any of my favorites. Still, highly recommended.

This is my all-time favorite ice cream place. Old-school ice cream shop vibe, and massive portions for the $$. I usually get the "baby" size, which is one huge scoop of ice cream. I've never gotten past the "child" size, which is two scoops. And the flavors are excellent. My all-time favorite is key lime pie, and order it nearly every time I'm there -- graham cracker crust with whipped cream and key lime swirl in lime mousse ice cream. Another favorite is banana pudding -- banana ice cream swirled with marshmallow creme and vanilla cookies. They only take cash, so keep that in mind when you go.

I love Clarks! As others have mentioned, Eskimo Kisses is the best, but I'm always torn between getting my favorite and trying something new, lucky for me they will let you get 2 flavors in everything but the baby sized cups. All of the ice cream with "stuff" in it has lots of said stuff, and the sundaes are really good. They close for the winter so, every fall I I always have to have the "last trip" to Clarks to prepare for the long, dark, ice cream-less winter.

  • Matt C.

Always friendly and happy to see us. Great prices and wide array of flavors. Appreciate being able to get two flavors in a single order. Baby size is more than enough for one person. They accept credit cards now--which makes it dangerously more convenient.

I truly can't blame Clark's for the huge hunk that is my rear end. But they definitely contributed! This is the most amazing ice cream store I have ever entered. Love Eskimo Kisses and Mackinaw Island fudge in the same cup! YUM! Visitors from out of state always insist on a trip to Clark's. The ice cream is creamy and delicious and I have never had less than courteous service.

So far I have had excellent service and delicious ice cream from Clark's. I have been there about 4 or 5 times. Great stuff!

  • M S.

Absolutely ginormous portions and some pretty exciting flavors. Creamy delicious ice cream in a funny shed like store with lots of patio furniture outside to sit on. The portions are huge - 2 usual scoops are a single serving for them, so be warned! We like coming here after a Amici's meal - talk about a high calorie day :)

What?! How have I not reviewed this place yet? I love Clark's, it is the best ice cream ever. They have so many delicious and unique flavors and they have huge servings for a decent price. I've tried Ray's just up the road because people say it's great, but I don't think it's any better and it's more expensive, so I'm sticking with Clark's!

    (5)
  • Becca C.

Holy moly... This place is a once-a-year treat. The portions are out of this world. Many fond memories digging into a ginormous heap of amaretto cherry ice cream after a summer swim meet. Always feel like I'm one step closer to diabetes after I finish off a small. But don't let that discourage you! The only place to go for ice cream! Just remember your insulin!

Ray's is the ice cream king of Metro Detroit... but Clark's is the fairest of them all. As an outsider, the sentimental buttons don't get pushed for me in many of Detroit's establishments. I just usually don't get what the fuss is about. I hate Ray's ice cream, I think it's poor quality junk with tons of icky fillers. But Clark's... Clark's has "it". It has appeal, it has awesome strange flavors that Caulder's dairy doesn't even come close to (blueberry pie or kettle corn ice cream, anyone? ). It really almost has the Ben and Jerry's appeal without the chunks or cutesy names. It's just damn good ice cream with some really appealing unique flavors. Even though I probably dreamed about peanut butter chocolate malts lately... I decided to skip the chocolate peanut butter cup ice cream... instead, my eye wandered to the cherry amaretto. Whoa, BABY! That is the STUFF. Don't get me wrong, Shatila's rose water ice cream will always have a place in my heart, but Clark's is where I will head when the craving strikes for something relatively more "normal." Great outdoor seating, clean place, friendly staff, and interesting flavors. Seriously worth checking out. Especially if you are going to Amici's for dinner, just walk across the street for some dessert! PS - no idea what Aaron K is talking about with lack of variety in flavors. They have 3 cases of 12 ice creams a piece, plus sorbets! Maybe they ran out of rum raisin? ***CASH ONLY***

So I am kind of an ice cream-aholic. I'm just going to put that out there. And I will often make the quick run to Clarks for a little ice cream heaven. They have a great variety of flavors, and they can make milkshakes from any of them. Their prices are GREAT, which is nice because some other local places cost a pretty penny. They usually try to carry some local brand or flavors too. The parking lot is a bit of a hassel, but as long as you are prepared for the sharp turn into the lot (being aware of the people milling around is good too) you should be ok. I like it because it's fast, convenient & cheap.

There are many reasons to go to many different ice cream stores. I like many different ones for many reasons. I've been to Clark's and I've always had a pleasurable experience and really good ice cream. Today, I stopped in with Jeffrey B. after lunch. The gentleman who waited on us was patient, helpful and funny. Anyone who can put up with our indecision and witty banter deserves a gold star. I tried the Eskimo Kisses, coconut ice cream with chocolate bits, and Peanut Butter something-something. Both were excellent. I can't possibly decide which I like more. It's like choosing between Mummsie and Daddoo in the divorce. There were so many other flavors too that sounded amazing. The selection is large and has a flavor for everyone. The sizes are ridiculous. The smallest is the "Baby" which is one heapin' huge scoop of ice cream. The "Child" is two scoops. If you know anyone who's ordered the large and eaten all of it, let me know. I want to be his/her best friend. I will definitely return to Clark's because it's too good to stay away for too long.

I concur with so many of the folks here - Clark's is absolutely the best!!! The ice cream is delicious - a big Eskimo Kisses fan here - and they offer Sander's Hot Fudge and many treats that include it, not least of these the classic Sander's Hot Fudge Cream Puff. A wide variety of flavors, frozen yogurt, the list goes on. Not to mention a wonderful staff, all friendly and highly competent. When you enter the store you can expect to be greated by a genuinely friendly person who is happy to serve you. The servings are more than generous and the prices very reasonable. Last, they are quaint and located in Berkley, next to an antiques dealer, down the block from an Indian restaurant. Now that is Nirvana in my book! And, if all goes well, they are planning to remain open all year long so my diet may be in jeopardy but my spirit will be happy. Yeah Clark's!!!

The best ice cream !!! The most generous helpings!!!! The nicest employees!!!

When soft-serve won't do, give Clark's a go! They carry Ashy Sterling Ice Cream in many a crazy flavor, including a remarkable amount of old lady flavors like Orange Pineapple and Maple Walnut. Clark's is like many ice cream shops, with a couple of large coolers carrying the precious ambrosia that to which I am addicted. Their sizes are huge. I seriously ordered a Child Sized cone waffle cone which was two scoops and it was gargantuan. I honestly have no idea what a large would be like--two half gallons?! My Child Sized waffle cone was really like the size of a child. . . well, a small impoverished child, but that's still big in ice cream standards. And it only ran me roughly $3.50, still less than a blizzard or anything at Coldstone. I opted for two flavors: Superman and Gold Rush (chocolate and vanilla ice cream with a giant ribbon of caramel). Ryan L. and I stopped by Clark's after our FBT just for a quick dessert and jaunt around the neighborhood. The employee working was a delight and was a good sport with our quirky humor. We even had a good natured discussion about what flavors Superman contains. I maintain that it is not Bubblegum despite the little sign saying it was. . . I think they're wrong. I will also admit I'm stubborn. I have visited Clark's many times before and will continue to pop in for a cone of magic deliciousness. And it really is an added bonus that on a nice sunny day you can wander around the streets of Berkley and see what's what.

Love, love, love Clark's! So glad to have this place within walking distance of my house. I am a huge ice cream fan - could eat it everyday! Clark's offers very generous portions at a very reasonable price. The child size is big enough for me. They offer a nice variety of flavors - from blueberry pie to Superman to Milky Way to Moose Tracks ... something for everyone! I drove by recently and noticed that they are already open for the season ... gotta get over there soon!

    (5)
  • Misty J.

They have coconut ice cream with chocolate flakes called eskimo kisses. Need I say more? What's better than cold coconut ice cream? Yeah, I sing Julie Ruin everytime I eat it. Anything larger than the child size is at your own risk. The kids working there are always nice. I love ice cream!!!

  • Becky C.

My husband and I love this ice cream shop! The variety of flavors is great, and I've never had anything that I've disliked there. Even on the busiest of summer evenings there's barely any wait, thanks to a very efficient and friendly staff. The cost is also extremely reasonable. I've never spent more than $5 for two cones, and that's with my husband getting larger than normal size, and in waffle or sugar cones. Highly recommended!

Nice little gem of a neighborhood ice cream shop. Lots of parking and a small grassy area with tables. Small but the line moves fast. Lots of interesting flavors and products- ice cream, frozen yogurt, sorbet, soft serve ice cream, sundaes, floats, cups and cones of course. It was pretty busy post-dinner when the temperature was in the low 50s, I can imagine it gets pretty crowded on a hot summer day- but isn't a ice cream cone one of the things that taste especially good then. I'm glad it's a bit of trek for me, otherwise I would be coming here far more often than is good for me! Will repeat and definitely recommend!

I have not been to many ice cream shops in the area that sell Ashby's ice cream and that is a shame because it is so good! The flavor options are very unique and I love getting to try a flavor I have never heard of before. I have never had a flavor that was not great and most recently I have loved the Nana's Banana Pudding and Blueberry Muffin Top. They offer a variety of sizes to satisfy any size hunger and the prices are quite reasonable compared to the competition. I really like being able to get 2 different flavor scoops even in a smaller size since I can never pick just one flavor. The store itself it small, so it is a tight squeeze when it gets crowded, but the staff is friendly, helpful and very efficient, so even if there is a line, you should be in and out quickly. The longest part is making up your mind.

First trips to Clarks ever, yeah I know I've been hiding under a rock. They have a great selection of non-traditional ice cream flavors which made it hard to choose just one! So of course I didn't. I got a 1 scoop, which actually holds two scoops and they allow you to pick two flavors (score!!). I tried the mint Girl Scout cookie and the peanut butter chocolate brownie. I liked them both for different reasons. With the mint it had great mint flavor and prices of cookies in it, the peanut butter had fresh swirls and chewy chunks of brownies. Yummy! The only thing stopping me from giving 5 stars is that the ice cream isn't made on the premise, it's Ashby's.

We went on a summer night, crowded. We were not locals so we were a bit confused by the ordering system but somehow they get around to getting everyone their treats. Ice cream is yummy and very reasonably priced.

Awesome ice cream selection- carrot cake is divine! The special sundaes are great too. Just good service, awesome options, the best in the Berkley-RO-Bham area.

Small town hometown type ice cream spot. Indoor ordering. Unique architecture. Seating abound off to the side. Can get crowded when busy. They have yogurt too. Featured in a scene in the indie horror hit IT FOLLOWS

Nice little hole in the wall ice cream shop. The banana pudding is really good and the prices are cheap. The blueberry muffin top was nearly gone and mediocre. The waffle cone was blah and not fresh made.

Dairy Queen who? Cold stone who? That's right questions that popped into my head after taking a bite of the wonderful hand scooped Superman ice cream inside of Clark's in Berkley,MI. The server was awesome she gives great service with a beautiful smile (always important) and a great portion of ice cream with it. The outside of the restaurant is beautiful but the inside could use a touch up but nonetheless you still get a great vibe stepping inside. I am going to tell everyone about this place and finish the convo by saying GET THE SUPERMAN!

They always have a great verity of flavors to choose from! Love this place! Staff is always so friendly and the prices are great! Baby size is huge I could never finish it and it's only 2.25!

Just finished a 2 hour workout down the street but couldn't resist making it irrelevant by popping into Clarke's for the first time. I had a baby scoop of black raspberry chip yoghurt to eat on the walk home. The 'baby' size's name is misleading. I was full up before I finished the mammoth scoop. The sun was out, so were the daffodils and my yummy treat was the icing on the cake. Thanks Clarke's, I'll be back soon.

Was so happy to have found such a great ice cream place nearby. They have a good selection with heaping scoops of delicious ice cream. The cookies and cream flavor is the best I have ever had in that flavor anywhere. I did think the cookie dough cream was a bit lacking in my favorite part: cookie dough. I will definitely be back as it is only a short bike ride away.

Holy big portions! Clark's did not disappoint! After leaving a movie in downtown Royal Oak, I was really looking for something to satisfy my sweet tooth. Naturally, I pulled up Yelp and drove a few miles (further from home!) to Clark's. The man working that night was really helpful and was a great conversationalist! Maybe he knew I've never been there, maybe he didn't, but he sure knew how to make someone feel right at home. As others have mentioned, the portions are huge and the flavors are delicious. I opted for a mint chocolate chip waffle come and as the man was scooping my ice cream, he asked what I was up to that night. I mentioned I saw a movie at the Landmark Main theatre and told him what it was about. The couple in line next overheard our talk and said they may even see the film. Friendly people all around! Upon hearing I went to the movies, I informed the gentleman that I wasn't very hungry. Turns out two scoops of ice cream is considered a baby cone! I was incredibly shocked and happy about the price! An ice cream place in my town carries Ashby's ice cream for double that price (for one scoop!) Parking is a bit tight but Clark's has plenty of outdoor seating to make up for it. If I'm ever in the area again, I'll be sure to stop back in!

Up until trying this place, i probably would of said coldstone is the best ice cream place, but after having this place, that statement is in complete doubt. I came because i wanted ice cream and this place was highly regarded on yelp. You come in and they have a set up like baskin robbins, but trust me, 31 flavors don't have none of these great flavors. Another great think here is three things: they let you try the flavors (about 20-25 different flavors), the portions are massive (I got a two scoop child cup that was ultimately big enough for three flavors) and they are pretty cheap also. As for the flavors, well i had/tried five and here's how I would rank them 1. Lemon cheesecake bar-probably the best ice cream I have ever had 2. Cookie jar-love the m&m in it and all the different cookies in it 3. Mint Girl Scout cookie- when you put one of the three best Girl Scout cookies mixed with mint chocolate chip ice cream, you get ice cream gold 4. Strawberry cheesecake ice cream 5. Anniversary cake ice cream- taste like a funfetti cupcake from just baked but ice cream style. Overall after having this place, I will be making special trips here.

This is your neighborhood ice cream parlor. They have a great variety of flavors and they charge a good price fir the amount you get. Just a tip: a "kiddie" size is enough for a grown man.

With the proviso that this little place doesn't make it's own stuff (it's Ashby's Sterling, as mentioned by others), unlike Ray's in Royal Oak or Treat Dreams in Ferndale, this is a great little ice cream shop. One of the core pieces of downtown Berkley. They have some spectacular combinations. I'm a big fan of the Milky Way, the Belgian Chocolate is luxurious, the salted caramel is very good (though not as good as Treat Dream's), and they have a ton of great peanut-buttery options. Everything is very high quality. And "a scoop" is really two giant head-sized scoops - i.e. it's great value for money. It's also right next to the little farmer's market deal that Berkley puts together in the Summertime, so it's a great anchor spot for an afternoon in downtown. They're also open late, though, if the post-dinner munchies strike you...

Come the dog days of summer when a lid on the city makes even my glass sweat, wait until after dark to crawl to an oasis illuminated in a sea of lights. Clark's is a throwback on 12 Mile, just like the A&W drive through, as much a local landmark as the Guardian Building is. Inside has room enough for ten people single file to bask over the double decker labels of Ashy's (Sterling) Ice Cream. On offer are some old standards like Moose Tracks and fruity sherbets, but the bulk are chocolate confections whipped up with crazy combinations from chunks of Milky Way bars to brandy and wafers dipped in cherry. The Jacked Up Tennessee Whiskey is worth a sample just to appreciate that rich bourbon flavour melting into chocolate. Samples are an absolute must. Clark's has sugar-free options too, like the surprisingly addictive country apple pie and a mellow cherry vanilla. You can sprinkle all the condiments and toppings you like across your favourite blend. On the ice cream spectrum, the sweet is definitely appealing to the kids and little old ladies. It's a bit too much for me, whereas I can tackle a full cone at Treat Dreams no problem. Sugar cone, waffle cone, you're tempting fate with anything larger than a modest scoop on the kid's cone if you ate in the last 8 hours. The portion sizes are generous heaps that dwarf the little flimsy wrapper holding up a monumental curl of drippy ice cream. Eat fast as it starts to melt deliciously into rivulets guaranteed to start a race to the bottom of the cone. The teens in here are a happy lot who manage the crush of bodies at lunch time or after dinner very well, and competently whip up samples and scoops with great efficiency that probably doesn't extend to cleaning their bedrooms. All in all, it's a great stop in Berkley to have yourself a tasty dessert for $3 and change.

I love this place! Every time I pass by in the winter it makes me think of how much I want summer to come so I can get ice cream. Flavors are super creamy. Friendly staff. Very affordable!

Quite simply the best scoop shop around, hands down. I've been coming here since the 80's, when my parents used to bring me, and it was called The Ice Box. Now I bring my kids and I hope they can eventually bring their own kids one day.

I've always been a huge supporter of mom and pop shops and this one is no exception. Whenever I'm craving ice cream this is my go-to. They have interesting flavor combinations, your basics and a few sorbets. Outside they have mismatched outdoor benches and furniture strewn across the lawn which makes the place feel even more eclectic and cozy, and it becomes the perfect spot to people watch. I highly recommend this place especially with their generous portion sizes!

  • Greg Y.

Great flavors of hard ice cream and soft serve frozen yogurt, prices are right too, really what is not to like? I really enjoyed their little park area too, right in downtown Berkeley. I found the town charming. I will be back again for sure. I had the lemon cheesecake ice cream, next time I'll try the southern pecan pie ice cream or the coffee and cream ice cream. Delisious.

Don't go to Clark's Ice Cream and Yogurt. There is no turning back. You don't try the Amaretto Cherry, you start it. Then it becomes an obsession. Day after day. Next March you will find yourself waiting in line on opening-day... for a scoop of Black Cherry on top of Amaretto... Beware - there is no Ice Cream Anonymous in the Berkley area to help you.

I like my ice cream with stuff in it. Cold Stone, I don't mind that you are part of the establishment-such is the price of stuff. But oh how I wish you were something that can never be: the mom and pop ice cream shop I remember as kid. Ah yes, 1975. I remember the year well. A mere pup of 6. Not a worry in the world. Just enjoying the summers and stops at the soda fountain in the Fisher Building. The server knew my mom from shopping there. She knew my face. She knew I loved Boston Coolers if my dear mum was paying and that I liked a single scoop of chocolate if I was cruising solo while my dear mum shopped elsewhere (you could do that back then). I don't know her name, but I know she was always nice-with her words and her scooper! Lately I've been craving an old fashion ice cream joint. You know, nice people, exciting flavors, clean, cheap, and close to home. Like when I was a kid. CSC, while tops in my book for "stuffed" ice cream, is too sterile and planned hip to be "that" place. That all changes today when I stumbled upon my ice cream nirvana in a little dessert temple called Clark's. They have all the dairy and non-dairy treats you could want: shakes, malts, coolers, sundaes, floats, yogurt, sorbet, and sherbet. In 1975 I stuck with Boston Coolers and chocolate as my core flavors. Now coffee is the only flavor I have eyes for. Clark's has it and a bunch of other flavors I'll leave to the fam. Pile on nice people, a spotless shop, free water, and lots of seating. Clark's, you are my new found fountain of youth!

  • Sarah K.

Yum! Clark's is definitely my favorite place for hard scoop ice cream. The servings are huge and a child size is way more than enough for me. I always get two different flavors (and they are the same every time): bumpy cake and chocolate peanut butter. I know this sounds crazy but words cannot describe how good these two flavors are. Just try it and you'll see!

    (5)
  • Tony G.

Clark's is a must if you want great ice cream! Their Amaretto Cherry is to die for. They have a lot of Stroh's Ice Cream flavors that I love. You've got to try their Sander's cream puff! It's excellent! Be careful though their scoops are huge! I usually get a child size and it's more than enough. the people that work their are extremely patient and very helpful.
