Vacationing here for the weekend and decided to stop and get some brunch to start the day. Was pleased by the menu options and the option for a Bloody Mary or mimosa. Decided to go with the mimosa and one egg with a side of potatoes... Only to realize the potatoes already came with the egg so I was given/charged for it without the server informing me (I intended to order ala carte). Overall a good experience but the wait for the check and the wait for the receipt was way too long, and our server was just generally unaware of the goings-on of restaurant business. Would like to return for lunch though!

Do it. Lobster omelet, poached eggs with lobster. Sit on patio and enjoy the scenery and beautiful landscaping.

Had one of the best evenings every. We ate our on their lovely deck. Our server was sweet, kind and paced our evening perfectly. We ordered appetizers and drinks. Lobster Rangoon, friend Brussel sprouts....French fries and calamari......each one had a different dipping sauce that was paired perfectly with each item.........just wonderful........Our entrees were also incredible......the short ribs were to die for and so was the surf and turf special. we will all be back to experience another wonder evening.very soon............Definitely a hidden gem. Lovely classic New England Inn with a classy, comfortable dinning room. Our waitress was fairly new and did a decent job, despite a very demanding table of four that behaved as if they were the only people in the restaurant. The meatball's from hell are truly as advertised. These are extremely spicy, and very tasty. As far as the spice goes, consider yourself warned. We love hot and spicy, therefore would order again. The crab cakes were the best I have had in a LONG LONG time. I had pretty much given up ordering crab cakes because all you get is a lot of mushy filling, little seasoning and hardly any crab. I asked Avery, our waitress, how the crab to filling ratio was and she said it had a lot of crab. She was correct! The cakes were full of crab, some of it very small, but still crab. The seasoning was perfect and the caper and tarragon aioli & coleslaw were delicious. Technically, I could have been very happy with crab cakes and salad. Dinner did not disappoint. The braised beef short ribs topped with sautéed Maine lobster was delicious. Think about it, short ribs AND lobster. The short ribs had a nice sauce which paired perfectly with the mashed potatoes. The show stealer was the baked haddock with lobster stuffing topped with lobster and a lobster cream sauce. I'm still dreaming of that sauce and once again, the stuffing was not a goopy breaded mess. A wonderful evening, we will certainly return.

After several years of sampling restaurants in Scarborough, Cape Elizabeth, and Portland, Maine, I have finally found my favorite restaurant - Garofalo's at the Higgins Beach Inn. This restaurant offers several comfortable and relaxed dining areas (main dining room, porch and outdoor deck) in which one can enjoy high quality food, drinks, and service. It is a hidden gem and I must say, I hesitated before writing this review fearing that the word would get out and it would be hard to get a reservation. However, the lovely staff and great food deserve acknowledgement!
