High Blood Pressure at Applebee's

Most of the foods served at Applebee's restaurants are high in sodium. Unless you are visiting the restaurant or dining here in the group, there are hardly any options from the main meals if you wish to keep your blood pressure in check. You can rely on a few salad options though. If lucky, you may find low-sodium ribs as well at the restaurant.

Foods to Avoid at Applebee's for High Blood Pressure

Avoid Green Goddess Wedge at Applebee's. Broccoli Cheese Soup and French Onion Soup contain over 1000mg sodium and hence must be skipped as well. Skip all the chicken dishes and seafood at Applebee's except Grilled Chicken Breast and Baked Haddock without sides respectively. You must also skip Brunch Burger, Quesadilla Burger, Triple Bacon Burger, and Whiskey Bacon Burger at Applebee's. High sodium intake can be lethal for a high blood pressure candidate. High Cholesterol at Applebee's

Well, steaks and ribs go hand in hand with cholesterol. Being their signature dish, it will be a challenge to find low-calorie, healthy food for those concerned with their cholesterol levels. However, you can always opt for their salads and other light foods to keep the cholesterol in check.

In the Ghetto..On a cold and gray Catonsville morn, a little waiter sucked at his job...In the Ghetto.... Lordy, This was the most ghetto experience ever. Floors, filthy. Waiters, Well, I think they spoke english. "Whatchoo be wantin'" I mean, this was horrible. Tables, filthy. I'm going to guess that the other people there got better service because, I was the wrong shade of skin. Reverse Racism is alive and well here. Waited 45 minutes for a burger. Another 20 min for drinks. The food literally stunk. Did not eat. So I sent it back and we decided to leave. As we walked out. The hostess sat stuffing a burger into her gold toothed mouth. MY burger I sent back. Could NOT believe it. Honey, use a napkin next time.

I ordered online and it said my order would be ready in 15 minutes I got here in 25 minutes from placing order and still had to wait another 12 minutes. Also theres no clear direction to where to pick up the order. All the servers were in different colored polos no uniformity in the color so I had a woman ask me a restaurant question when I do not work there at all. So it is obivious not only I clear to as who works here and not. There was alot of staff socializing by the bar hugging on each other just completely inappropriate behavior which included what appear to possibly be the supervisor on duty. Completely NOT satisfied would recommend spending your money to anywhere but this place.

My Dad wanted to go here for his birthday. We both ordered meals and shared an app. First issue no sweet potato fries. Strike one. We were there on Monday night, which means it was not busy and the table service was really slow. Strike two. I then noticed that the hostesses and waiters were kinda grouped in a corner socializing. Strike three. I don't care if you socialize but at least be up on your tables so that your guests do not have to wait extended amounts of time for common things like refills, paying the bill etc.

I've been to this Applebees plenty of times and I would not describe it as "ghetto," as Sam K did below. He must be trolling for laughs at the expense of stereotyping, but please believe me - he's an idiot. The comments about the food being hit and miss are true, but not because of staff fault. Pasta too dry? Not enough queso for your potato twisters? Reasonable complaints, but understand that the food prep is governed by corporate demands - it sucks to be charged extra just to make sure the food is prepped to your individual liking, but it is not the servers fault. They can't give every customer "the hook up," so it's asinine to expect otherwise, from any chain restaurant. Bar service is great. Most of the bartenders have been mixing for years and they all have great personalities. Plus, if you don't want a listed drink, but you still have a taste for something specific, they will whip you up a custom drink that you are sure the LOVE. Jazz, Tanisha and Khalilah all are bomb - get to know your bartenders well, tip them well, and they will always look out for you. Wait service can sometimes be hit or miss. Although no one has ever asked me "Whatchoo be wantin" (side eye again to Sam K), I do have my favorites. Rasheed, Aaliyah, Andrew, Tammy, Ashley, Raven - you can't go wrong with them. Most of the younger servers are still in school, so feel free to engage them in conversation. Game days, Happy Hour (9-close), Ladies Night (Wednesday), and First Fridays can sometimes be a bit loud. Tuesdays are Kids Day ($1 their meals) so it's pretty quiet then. They even have kids movies playing and a guy that does balloon animals.

My boyfriend and I went to this applebee's on a Saturday afternoon on 1/11/14. The restaurant wasn't that busy. We chose to get the 2 for 20$ deal. We ordered honey bbq boneless wings for out appetizer, what we got was hot boneless wings. Our entrées came out at a decent time and tasted good. The waiter came back once to check how things were. I finished my sauce i had to dip my chicken and was going to ask for more but the waiter didn't come back for awhile to see if we needed anything. By the time the waiter came back I was ready to go and just asked for the check. I will not go back to this Applebee's in the future. i think I'll stick with going to fuddruckers in Columbia where service is always good even though you seat yourself :)

Its a chain so whatever the food is good the drinks need a little kick but the service needs a makeover . If I am sitting at a table on the outer ring of the restaurant i should not be able to hear the bartener and the servers discussing in graphic terms their personal lives. Kim i know you are mad about the 3 on 35 but you didnt remove one single dirty dish from my table during lunch even after i piled them on the edge of the table. i am in the business been everything from a busser to a manager an d my absoloute pet peeve is you not bussing my table

I can't remember the last time I was in this - or any - Applebee's, but I had lunch here today and was surprised that it was better than I remember. We had spinach-artichoke dip as an app. I thought it was rather pricey at $9 for the amount you got, but it was pretty tasty and came with lots of chips. Skip the runny salsa (?) that tags along. We both ordered from the Pick-n-Pair lunch menu ($8 for two choices). I had caesar salad (not too fresh or good) and chicken penne (tasted great but very stingy on the chicken). My lunch companion had french onion soup and chicken wonton tacos; she enjoyed both. After two sodas and tip, lunch was $38, a bit steep for what it was. However, our server Michael was excellent and everything was served in a timely manner, always a plus during a weekday lunch.

As Applebees locations go, this one is clean and has excellent service. We have held multiple business dinners here and always had good food and prompt service. Typical food, good burgers, and nice staff.

This Applebee's is one of my favorite local chain restaurants. I am a fan of the fiesta lime chicken. The waitstaff is down-to-earth and the prices are reasonable. As casual dining goes, I find it a welcome option to overcrowded buffets and Southern-style restaurants where patrons have to wait for seating and get jabbed by elbows on a lazy Sunday. It also seems to be popular among families passing through the area.

First off, until about 6 months ago, I was biggest fan of Applebees. Now, potato twister app was changed to these thick nassty dollar store type tortillas and the amount of queso that comes with it is just ridiculous. So.. I ask waitress, can we have more queso? She informs me of up charge which is fine. She brings back this tiny plastic cup of queso that you would have to break your giganzo tortilla chip 3 times to fit it in the cup.. I stop her and say, can u bring is two more of THIS size (meaning the bowl that comes with it. Mind you THAT bowl only has about 4 tablespoons in it already..) They say 3 oz.. I call shenanigans.. anyway, this waitress and her "TUDE" come back with 2 more of these tiny cups. I said.. I asked for 2 more BOWLS. we all don't want to eat out of the same cheese bowl. SHE Never comes back!! I Ask for manager when food runner brings entrees. Tell and show him what we have and what we want. He has a shi!!y attitude and brings us 1 more of the tiny cups. We send our entrees back, pay for what we had on table and left. I told manager I would be telling our story on yelp so here you go. Give ppl a decent amount for what they are paying for and if they want extra, what's the big deal.. ITS REVENUE GENIUS. ITS MONEY YOUR RESTAURANT IS MAKING.. EXTRAS ARE A GREAT THING !!!!! Were you short on cheese?? Another thing, I was in this business as a restaurant manager in ocean city Maryland for 15 years. Everyone (including the managers) need to be retrained, taught how to speak more clearly, learn that their customers are the ONLY reason they have a paycheck, that "TIPS" mean To Insure Proper Service and it is earned, and customers are to be treated with the utmost respect, to order supplies more efficiently so their customers have everything they need and everything they want. If these basic concepts of food and customer service cannot be grasped by the employees, maybe this isn't their cup of tea. Instead of employees and that manager trying to hide around a dark corner on their cell phones, clean that restaurant (if you have time to lean.. You have time to clean!) and wait on their customers better. Even down to drinks.. Seen lots of empty glasses and dessert not being offered after the meal..thousands of lost revenue. So sad..

I was here with my wife when we getting back home late night from Baltimore. The best part is, its opened 24X7. The food is okay, full of cheese, we were contended that we never had sleep starved. The staff is pretty decent and tone food as per your liking.

It's late, you have no other options, but you don't feel like cooking... You say to yourself this time may be different...Not! Poor service and the cook comes to you cold... I have to remember to just keep it moving.

This Applebee's is not that great compared to others I've been to. The food here doesn't taste as good as I've had before at another Applebee's and I'm not sure why. Some of the wait staff are great, fast, courteous, and friendly. Others try to drag their ass around and be lazy. The host/hostess staff always congregate around each other and look bothered when you come in to get a table. Someone else mentioned that they skimp on the food a little, definitely on the queso for the appetizer. You'll run out of queso long before you finish the chips. Drinks are pretty good but not cheap, unless you come on a specific night when they offer a deal. If you're hungry and don't really care what you eat or it's late, this will do.

  • Jesse C.

Pretty standard Applebee's. The food is consistent with every other Applebees that I have been to, which is great by my taste. Most of the workers are black, but no, that doesn't make the place "ghetto" as other reviewers have mentioned. I've always had friendly, enjoyable experiences with them, and if you are worried about the skin color of your servers, you probably have larger problems in life than deciding where you should be eating. My wife and I always get the 2 for $20 with boneless wings (Yum!), the Chicken Penne Pasta (Delicious!) and she likes the steak or other chicken dishes. They have nightly drink specials, and I'd recommend Friday for the 4 dollar long islands.

Twinkle, twinkle, little star, you truly lack luster for a chain, thus far. Let's keep it real - it's Applebees. That being said, I've been to many of them late at night when you're just starving because even though it is generic American fare you know it's going to be on a bare minimum edible. Yea NO- My friend and I both ordered the Three Cheese Chicken Penne. You normally can't go wrong with pasta... Oh - but yes you can! When I tell you that was the driest cheese pasta dish I have ever seen in my life. Usually cheese, especially Alfredo sauces are all nice and creamy and all over the place. This looked like plastic play pasta :( On a more positive note - the drinks were SKRONG!! (yes - I said SKRONG). I had a flavored mojito and my friend had one of the Top Shelf Long Islands. We couldn't finish either of our drinks and were giggling like hyenas on our way out... Don't judge me... I would return for the drinks - only for the drinks.

The server was not bad... Nothing special but did her job, the cooks cooked the salmon just right but you can tell the ingredients they use are sub par. I'd rather drive a few miles further and go to fridays

Came here recently for dinner on a Wednesday night, which also happened to be ladies night. They had some decent drink specials, but the food was horrible and drinks were not that strong. I do not expect great food being that it is a chain restaurant, but the food didn't taste like any of what I tasted at other Applebee's chains. I ordered three cheese chicken penne and it was so bland, not even the pasta had flavor. I had to send it back. I ordered steak, mashed potatoes, and steamed veggies in its place. These items were minimally better than the pasta. I mean how can you mess up a vegetable. Lets just say I wasted my money... I did not eat the food. Not to mention the slow service I will never eat here again.

  • Rene R.

In general I enjoy the food here. And this was not my 1st visit to this location. It truly is your typical casual restaurant. During my visit I stopped by the ladies room and I must say, they need to have someone checking it hourly. Its important that the trash not be overflowing and if you don't have air dryers, then the paper towels need to be refilled. The food was delicious. The service however was crappy. I was a server for years and I learned quickly that if the suggested 15% of the meal would only be a couple of dollars then good service was essential to getting a little more. Hubby left the min tip and he only did that because I have a general rule that unless the server is actually mean or rude, they at least get 15%. Our server didn't smile once, and she looked like she wanted to be anywhere but there. This could have something to do with the way the place is run because even the host who greeted us seemed like it was painful to say hello and how many? Anyways, we won't be going to this particular Applebees again. We've given it a few chances but they just seem to suck. Which sucks because its the closest to us!

Highly recommend the pecan chicken salad with oriental dressing. Wow! Service is friendly & quick. They now have small computers on each table so you can order your meal directly with the kitchen. How cool is that! I tried it and it worked! Give it a try!
