I wish we had a chance to actually dine in here as soon as my girl and I walked in we were told we couldn't sit where we wanted, VERY rudely by the bartender, maybe that's how they welcome people at Stan & Joe's bar. there was an expansive selection of hot sauces at the bloody Mary bar, which got us excited but when people are immediately jerks I imagine the rest of the service will be very similar....maybe next time we'll give them a shot

I never get to take a picture of my food before I check in here and there's a good reason why...this food is AMAZING. It really is good old American food! I have tried several of the burgers and none of them have disappointed. I can always go right in and find a seat during my lunch hour and the waitresses are always very friendly and prompt. The food comes fast and the prices are very reasonable for the portion size.

This review is for the food. Sorely disappointed. Went in around 7:30pm on a Friday night, I guess that might have been my mistake. Bar area was crowded, so I sat far enough away from it that I thought I wouldn't be bothered. I was wrong. So, so, so loud. Obnoxiously so. If the food was good I'd have no complaint about that. Got the Annapolitan Sandwich - chicken topped with crab and came with fries. Fries were bad. Pet peeve when you mess up fries. Frozen pieces of junk. Chicken was fairly obviously microwaved - center was approximately 900 degrees while the rest was lukewarm. "Crab" (if it can even be called that) was essentially nonexistent. Ate maybe half of the meal and bolted. The only reason I might return is to see what some of their drink specials are like.

Happy Hr goes til 8pm. Win. Crab pretzel. Win. Beer selection. Win.

Hands down, the best late night bar in Annapolis. Great live music, great beer and drink options and a rowdy good time. It can get pretty crowded, but there is a nice patio and some open seating in the back

I love this place - very laid back, great beer selection, good tunes. I'M IN.

I love this place! Great atmosphere and aura that was missing in the bar next door. Love the live music and outdoor patio. there are people from all walks of life here...this town has a higher ratio of guys than girls it seems. Sweet. Older guys, middle age, working guys that came from work, those still in school, and they are all generous with their compliments and still had class. Of course it was St Patty's day so everyone had also had a few more drinks in them than on a normal evening. All in all, a great time. Best part was the convenient and free parking in their lot next door.

OK bar. Stopped in for a beverage and snack. Good selection of draft beers (although it could have been colder). The crab dip in bread bowl was mostly bread. Service was good

Stan and Joe's is one of my favorite spots in downtown Annapolis, mostly due to the totally awesome staff. They are all incredibly friendly and provide great service. Seriously, they must only hire people who have awesome personalities. The bar food is pretty basic, but the atmosphere and the staff are what really make Stan and Joe's what it is: a homey, downtown Annapolis hangout filled with music, friends and bartenders who love hooking you up.

Super cheap happy hour beers. Bartender and waitress were prompt and helpful. The outdoor area is full of chain-smokers, but overall I'd come back just for the crazy happy hour specials.

I came here with some friends on a Saturday night, and had a pretty fun time! When we walked in it was SUPER crowded, and they had a band playing, it was difficult to get up to the bar to order a drink, but eventually we managed to squeeze our way in. The decor is cute, it has more of the historic annapolis vibe going on, but I liked it. The atmosphere was pretty laid back and casual. The service was a little slow, but it was really crowded, so I let that slide. It was really noisy though and we weren't quite at everyone else's level so after a drink or two we left to have a few drinks where we could grab a seat and get to that level. Overall a pretty cool, fun, casual place!

As someone else said, great happy hour, oysters and all. and yes , a lot of white dorky guys, not a pick up place girls,: at least not Friday happy hour. The bartenders are great, Even when standing room only , you get a drink. Like going in the winter, around 4 on a Friday, . Easier to get a seat. As an afterthoutht,,,,,,,,,,the free wings are pretty damn good too. !

Great atmosphere and the staff is awesome. By the end of the night, you will feel as if you've known them your whole life. Plus, it's one of the few places in Annapolis that don't charge a cover after 9. They also have a great happy hour with free wings, half-price drinks, and $1.00 shrimp & oysters.

Tasty food and terrific service. Not your average pub fare. Our waitress was very helpful. Cool atmosphere with lots of memorabilia.

We went there because we could have the dogs there fora happy hour. The music was great and the beer prices reasonable. However, we won't order food there again. The two appetizers we ordered were microwave quality and cost about triple what I could have microwaved them for, so they weren't exactly good happy hour deals. For happy hour food, there are a couple places nearby with much better quality. With that said, I would go back to just have a beer with the dogs.

Stopped in for happy hour with a group on Friday night. We shared a couple of apps, potato skins, Chesapeake skins, and wings - all okay. The drinks were strong and the prices were pretty reasonable. By the time we left around 7 it was pretty crowded, so get there early.

Its a bar. But with that being said good food. I had the turkey club and my wife had the chicken salad she loved that also. I recommend it. Nice little hole in the wall.

Had Stan and Joes for the first time today at the Maryland Seafood festival and it was by far my favorite of all the tents! Great service and staff working the booth and authentic Maryland crab. Definitely eager to try out the restaurant location in Annapolis; and if it's anything like their booth, the food won't disappoint!

Average sports bar in every way. We visited because it advertised itself as a location for Steelers fans. Well, we did manage to find a few Pittsburgh items on the wall. There were just as many other fans too though. The food was average. Pretty much typical bar food. Typical beer. Typical decorations. Really nothing memorable at all.

This place is ok in my book. Food is decent. Their outdoor area is pretty nice. I like going to Stan and Joe's for Cream of Crab soup when the weather is chilly. Yesterday, I went here for lunch and had the Maryland burger which was pretty good. The Maryland burger is a burger topped with crab dip and some extra cheese sprinkled on top. I didn't want the usual extras on it: lettuce, tomato, and onion. It was tasty regardless. I would like to go here one day for happy hour. After checking out their happy hour menu, it looks like they offer a pretty good deal. Staff are super cool and friendly from my experiences there.

Cool little neighborhood bar / lounge here in downtown Annapolis, MD ! Great happy hour specials and prices on beer and food from 4pm-7pm. Coming from colorado I was very surprised by the character of this little hole in the wall! I met a lot of local people who were more than happy to talk with me and chat ! Wendy is quite literally the best bartender I've ever had the pleasure of being around! She literally took time out of her day to recommend places for dinner and to also recommend the bartenders / servers I should talk to! If you are ever in downtown Annapolis you MUST make a stop at Stan and Joes. Long story short this place has charm, character, and overall a friendly people that you can enjoy yourself around. 5 stars just because of the service and experience. Would highly recommend.

The food is good. I've been here twice for Lunch and would definitely go back again. I really liked my waitress the first time I went there. She was so nice and sweet and pleasurable. Nice place to chill for Lunch. I will frequent this place many times I'm sure while working in the Annapolis area.

The friendly bartender kept the pint glass full. Lagunitas Pale was going down like butter. The hockey games were on the multiple tv 's. The locals were cool. I'll be back. Order was incomplete, cab cake sliders came without the chips as promised. Food alright, atmosphere good.

Live music, fun people, strong drinks, and a great atmosphere -- if you haven't been to Stan and Joe's I recommend it for your next outing in Downtown Annapolis. The inside is pretty large and has a ton of bar room, seating, and area's to dine. Coming in to watch the game is rather easy with ton's of large TV's right behind the bar. The beer selection is decent with a few microdraughts but mainly beers like boh', Bud lite, Bluemoon are on the tap list ... but that' not a bad thing... There is an outdoor patio which would make for a great spot for a spring / summer night to relax and have a drink with friends. The food offering looked good too, I glanced over the menu and pretty much everything is bar food and priced roughly around what you would expect to pay for chicken wings, or a burger. Overall I like Stan and Joe's for the experience, which unlike most of the bar's in Downtown Annapolis aren't Irish pubs, with a fake ambiance and a pretentious vibe to it; 4 stars!

Had lunch here last Friday with our dog. The food & service were both great, and they allow dogs in their courtyard outback which is awesome.

Stopped in for a quick lunch while on break. Nice welcoming atmosphere and good random mix of songs played. Wendy was the bartender and server. GREAT personality. Everyone else very friendly as well. I'll be definitely be back when I don't have to run more errands :)

I love Stan and Joe's. They sponsored my kickball league and we had so much fun going there after (and especially before) games. Their burgers are delicious and so are the wings. They tend to have awesome weeknight deals too. All in all a great place to go downtown. I'm going there tonight for 1/2 priced burgers yum!

Solid place. Good food. I am not overly adventurous and neither is their menu--so I will say they make one of the best burgers in Annapolis. The happy hour is probably the best one around (well maybe Yellow Fin edges it out for the view) and you will never leave sad! Service is always attentive and quick. A lot of regulars but not so much that you feel like an outsider walking in. As a company they are great about sponsoring and working for local events. They offered their parking lot for the Santa Speedo Run (yeah, ok they made some money too since they catered it, but...hey ). When the weather is nie, the patio out back is also really nice! Only obvious downside is that they are a decided Steelers bar!

Loved the ahi tuna, and hubby really enjoys the steak stogie. Great food, good service, happy atmosphere. We came out on a Wednesday and we were delighted with the restaurant. It gets a little loud and crowded at night. Great bands and no cover!!

  • Jessica F.

I have to say I was not thrilled with my visit here. Maybe it was the heat, maybe it was my state of mind this day but I didn't walk away thinking I wanted to come back. I ordered the Ahi sandwich which I was super excited about but I felt like it could use a little more flavor. The calamari was good but not great. Our service, unfortunately, could have been better. We just couldn't seem to get the girls attention and when we did she quickly forgot our requests. I think it may be better to come back here when there isn't an art festival in the street and the sun isn't beating down on my head.

I love this bar! The staff is awesome and the food is not your ordinary bar food. Its far better! Great outdoor patio and they even make me a special version of the egg rolls without all the meat for me. Thanks!

I really do like this place, so I have to wonder why I don't go there more often....hmmmmm, something to ponder...... They have great happy hour specials, cold drinks, good food, and awesome bartenders and wait staff. Seating is kind of cramped (I believe they refer to it as "intimate", but it's all good.....just don't get stuck at the table next to the restroom. They have a decent patio in the back, and some great live music. During football season, if you're not a Steelers fan you may want to stay away, as this is the home of the local Steelers fan club. But they're pretty cool about it....and they may even let you in on some of their specials if you're wearing the team colors. I love the fact that this isn't one of those bars where the average age is only about 21 years old.....you'll find people from all age groups, all walks of life, and all there just to have a good time. If you get there at the right time, they do have a lot with free parking next door, but it's not very big and fills up fast. You may be able to find street parking nearby, but worst case scenario you can park in the garage on Calvert street and walk over.

We had a large group to watch a bowl game on New Years Eve. We called ahead with a head count and Stan and Joe's even put up a page on their website for us. When we got there, none of the staff knew anything about us and most of their tables were reserved for other people. The TVs were in awkward locations from the tables which made it difficult to watch the game over the people standing around. The food was equally unimpressive. I ordered the Southwest Burger with Fries. The fries came out of the fryer in a solid chunk all stuck together. The burger was made of a low quality beef, I suspect mostly beef byproducts. With such a large group arriving, I expected better treatment. The staff was confused when we arrived and went to ask a manager what to do. They wanted to put us "upstairs" but there was only one small TV there and we were there to watch a bowl game. We took the couple of tables we could and were spread across the small dining area making it near impossible to talk with one another. I just can't imagine they would go to the effort to place a page on their website for us, then completely forget we were coming. I will not be going back.

Lacrosse helmets....might not be the first thing you notice when you enter a bar, but since we have a "player" in the family I was happy to see something other than blow up beer ads hanging from the rafters! This appears to be a haven for VA Tech Alum...interesting eh? Land of Navy, Univ of MD, Redskins and Ravens....but hey we were happy Hokies to see the Tech banners and other memorabilia!! Just stopped in for a quick brew and the 5 other folks in the place appeared to be enjoying themselves - prattling on about sports of all kinds, munching on a grilled shrimp Ceasar salad, and enjoying the beer on tap. Nice place, will certainly be back for live music or a Hokie game soon!

Very well managed. Staff make an effort to get to know you. Food is "okay" - nothing special but atmosphere is social.

This is a place we want to like more. We never have had a specific bad experience, but it just does not stand out...from the food to the service. We have eaten here a few times. They have a great deal on Tuesdays--1/2 price that we have taken advantage of. The burgers are average. Once again, nothing to complain or brag about. We've also had some of the appetizers--same result. They have a nice tap offering a decent amount of local beers and your standard national beers. They also pour a pretty nice mixed drink. The bar tenders are below average. It seems like they only cater to regulars and aren't very friendly towards newcomers. We have been there for karaoke nights and when the DJ is there....and we were very disappointed at the noise level. If your purpose was not to be there for the music, it was nearly impossible to speak to friends. Also, the bathrooms are terrible. Overall, everything is average...yet we keep going back hoping for a better experience.

  • Kalee C.

Stan and Joe's has decent food, maybe a tad overpriced for general pub/bar style food. Decent happy hour. I do like that they have live music there and the karaoke is a blast! I do also like the back patio/smoking area so you don't have to walk out front and outside the restaurant. it's smoker friendly while still keeping the smokers separated from non smokers .

Nice Waitress. Enjoyed the food. Good Friendly atmosphere. Best Reuben I have had in a while. They make the corned Beef on site and you can tell.

My review is based on bar service for the most part- which is Excellent. Even at a busy time of the night, the bartender Troy - remembered our order, remembered our names, and served us immediately for every round. Great atmosphere, with an outdoor patio in the back for smoking - with bench seating and flat screen TV. Live music in the front. I will have to try the food for review.

Karaoke on Weds nights and this place gets packed. Some people sing well, others provide terrific entertainment value. Through it all you can still get a drink at the bar. I put this in as a fun hangout for the mid-week if you want to get a couple of drinks.

  • Garrett P.

Cheap place to grab a beer, and they have some good drink specials as well. Also, it would appear from their "specials" board, that they have some type of happy-hour-type specials going on from about 4 until they close every day. Not a bad deal. My complaint arises from two things, one more urgent than the other. One: It's kinda lame, though it could have been because it was just us and some middle-aged people drinking draft beer at 3pm. Two: When using a restroom in a bar, you will sometimes find that a urinal is placed in a strange position relative to the rest of the bathroom. This is to accomodate the needs of those who have to use the stall to vomit, while balancing the needs of those who have just had a cup of coffee followed by three pints. I have to say however, that I have never used a urinal that was literally placed immediately inside the door. Facing.The.Bar. It was somewhat awkward to think that should someone give the door a firmer-than-usual tug to open it that the bartender and any patrons who cared to look could watch something for free that people in Berlin pay good money for in fetish clubs. Anyhow, those were my two cents.

This was a third stop which was suggested from someone we met at another bar. We had a great time. It was packed around 9pm and everyone was in a good mood. Everyone was in a great mood and we met several different people. The bartender was great. Very polite and friendly. Will go back for sure.

Stan & Joe's is a small and somewhat divey (but clean) local bar. They have good drink specials, friendly bar tenders, decent live music, and no cover charges. I went on a Sunday night and it was Blues jam night. There were some outstanding musicians and it wasn't too crowded. If I lived in Annapolis, this is exactly the kind of place where I'd quickly become a regular.

Hands down the best happy hour in town. The bartenders aren't half bad either ;-)

I am a local business owner in Annapolis and enjoy the occasional happy hour beer after a long day. I stopped by the saloon this past Monday and had a fantastic Shiner Bock on tap. The help was quick and friendly and the atmosphere was light and fun. I consider myself a good tipper and am always looking to see if the proper appreciation is reciprocated. The gentleman who took my order and consequently the tip was genuinely grateful for it. Kudos to those who act in this manner and I would recommend Stan and Joes to all looking for a fun and energetic place to wind down after a long day.

A local tradition for many years. Formerly Sean Donlon's Irish Pub now a saloon style place with an Irish attitude. Guinness, Magic Hat, Dogfish and more on tap and a new and improved menu. Annapolis' only dart bar - bring your sticks and try to take on some of the sharks around happy hour any night of the week. Good chance you'll run into this shark as well : )

  • Dirty T.

If it's not packed to the gills at happy hour, it's an enjoyable bar...mainly because of the excellent drink specials and great bartenders. Pretty low clown factor, which is nice for a popular bar.

  • Toby C.

We went here with some friends after dinner Saturday night. The place was extremely crowded. It was difficult to even get in or out and the other patrons weren't very helpful in that regard. Many would continue to stand in their spot even after a hand on their back and an "excuse me". I have a big build and try hard to be very polite when navigating crowded spaces. There was a band playing from a good music selection, but I wasn't impressed by their performances of those tunes. You couldn't hear half of it from the back of the bar. I did manage to get one round of beers, but it was so crowded that we didn't even stay to finish them. The bartender was good about having a quick turn around and didn't complain when I closed my tab shortly after only ordering 2 beers.

    (3)
  • Roger H.

Live music with no cover. Definitely a plus. It seemed to be rocking on a Saturday night. The non waterfront location seemed to keep away the douche bags. No diversity here, just mostly young dorky white guys trying to kick their game and do a little breeding. The bar area does get crowded but if you grab a table you can hold a conversation even with the music playing. The waitress kept our glasses full even though it was a full house. There was even a smoking area in the back which must get packed when it gets warm. I would love to come back on a weekday.

Yuengling tasted watered down. Bartender didn't know how to pour a Guinness. The outdoor patio is nice but I'm not coming back.

Hello friends and family in the boating community... when you lay anchor in the historic port of Annapolis, MD, you must hit a few of my favorite places beginning with STAN N JOE'S on West St. It's the location of an old Irish pub a block from Church Circle. Good food and a good pour for your money. Music, darts and a lot of friendly faces. Check out the wine loung upstairs and enjoy some quality jazz. Tell the gang, Scotty sent you!

  • Brian J.

Nice place to enjoy the show that it the non-waterfront Annapolis. Great happy hour specials (half price drinks, free food, $.50 oysters that are actually worth eating, etc.) and friendly patrons and bartenders. They don't carry ginger beer (what!?!!?!) so don't expect a dark and stormy. Large selection of beers on tap. TVs all around, good place to catch a game, too.

    (4)
  • Jen M.

Eh, I'm tired of bars that are, "butts to nuts" full of people. This bar definitely attracts a younger crowd. It gets extremely crowded, especially when they have a band. The owner and the bouncers are dicks when it comes to shooing people out at closing time.
