Rixie's is definitely a hidden gem in Annapolis. It is literally "hidden" in a run down shopping center off of West St and Parole. It is a Chinese restaurant with Asian ownership, so as you'd expect, they have standard Chinese food on their menu. We went for the American food though because we heard it was good. The cheesesteak was phenomenal. I was literally outside painting patio furniture on a hot day so you would think that a cheesesteak wouldn't be appetizing, but it was!! It is one of the most luxurious cheesesteaks I have ever had. Better than Philly Flash and comparable to a Jenos or Pats in Philly (minus the fact that they don't have whiz). The Mumbo sauce is OK but not as good as previously reviewed. It is basically just a large wing with an exorbitant amount of extra sweet sweet and sour sauce. Other than that, price is right and food is above average for the price. Bring cash though, they don't accept credit cards!

The biggest reason I didn't give this place 5 stars is mainly due to the fact that they don't accept credit cards. Other than that I agree with the previous review that this place is a hidden gem. You would never guess this place was delicious until you actually tried the food. If you like cheesesteaks consider this place your new friend because their cheesesteaks are definitely on par. My girlfriend is from Philadelphia and she loved the cheesesteaks.... even though this place is Chinese food restaurant. As for the Mumbo Sauce wings, they were okay. Basically they were deep fried wings coated in Sweet & Sour sauce, not quite my cup of tea but different nontheless. We also got 10 Crab Wontons for around $3.... that's a steal. In terms of quality they get a 6 out of 10, but for that price it's definitely worth the money.

I was back in Annapolis with my family on Thursday and decided to go to my favorite fried chicken place. When I got there, I was pleasantly surprised that the owner had added some Japanese cuisine and nicely redecorated the restaurant. I was really glad that they had Japanese Ramen, because they weren't any Ramen places in Annapolis and perfect for a cold night. I spent some time talking to the owner named Mike, and he told me that he actually had a sushi restaurant in Manhattan before settling down in Annapolis. He recommended that we tried the Delicious Japanese Fried Tako Balls topped with Japanese mayonaise/Tako sauce and shaved dried fish and of course Ramen Noodle soup with fresh ramen noodles topped with bean sprouts, corn, boiled egg, sliced marinated pork. My kids got some chicken wings, teriyaki chicken along with salmon, California and eel roll. I was really impressed with the ramen soup because they noodles tasted really fresh and the soup base was flavorful. Mike tells me that he only uses the best ingredients that are made in Japan, and it takes 24 hours to prepare the soup base for the Ramen and no msg. The prices are reasonable and he gave us the lunch special 3 rolls for around $9 and the Ramen was 8.95. The sushi rolls are pretty good but the best part of the meal was the Fried Tako appetizers and Mochi ice cream. The kids loved the Mochi and I loved the Tako that were crispy outside and soft and chewy center. I will definitely come back again to eat the Ramen and other sushi dishes, and had to order some fried chicken wings and mumbo sauce as takeout. They need to start accepting credit cards so I can order more food next time. LOL

Please don't go in expecting something different from the other reviews read online. Rixie's is just a Chinese joint that happens to make subs. From the reviews, I was expecting something completely different. The Cheese steak was absolutely bland. No flavor what so ever, a reviewer called it the closest thing to a philly cheese steak??? One review boasted "authentic wings", HA! They were soaked in a sweet gel sauce, not buffalo. Form your own opinions, but this is nothing special. I guess this is why I've lived in Annapolis all my life (32 years) and just heard of this place via a 6th page Google search for "Wings Annapolis".

Best cheap eats in the city! hands down. Rixies has to be the only place in Annpolis where you can co in with $5 and leave with what can actually constitute a meal. Go in with $6 and you're cooking with gas. Their chicken is marinated in who knows what, all I know is that it taste really good. An added bonus for the DC area natives is that Rixies is the only place you can find Mumbo sauce until you hit PG. As for their Chinese food, it is what it is. The surprise standouts at Rixies are the ridiculously low priced lunch specials and quite possibly, the BEST cheesesteak in Annapolis. A 1/2 steak here is packed with 1/2 lb meat, while there is a full pound on a whole. Ribeye that is cooked to perfection. They can be a bit soggy as they don't always crisp the roll, but I don't a damn about that. They taste great and fill you up. Stop in and give them a try on a doy when your pockets are a bit lean. You won't be disappointed.
