From the outside, Moogy's looks like such a crap place to eat... I'M SORRY, NO OFFENSE, BUT ITS TRUE. Once you walk inside, its a whole nother story! Dearie me! Breakfast Bungalow! early eats! morning muffins! I was pretty, pretty into it. My cinnamon pancakes, sinfully delicious, my side of sausge, suave, and my chili burrito, chillaxin'. Service was whatever, but like I said, its totally unassuming, so...dont assume you will have amazing service. The people were really nice though! And, they totally have boardgames while you wait, or eat...CANDYLAND rocks !

Moogy's is my neighborhood joint. I don't know of a better place to hang out with old friends and meet new ones. The food is consistently fun and delicious. Friendly faces, good food, fun games. One time, I lost my debit card and the owner helped me get some food. They as are loyal to their regulars as their regulars are to them.

My two kids and I came to this unique restaurant this Sunday for some over the top hoagies and we found this place to be one of the best in the area! Once we arrived and approach the counter to order we were greeted by a young lady with a big smile and a great personality. This is what customer service is about ( please take note ). My kids and I will surely be back soon. Thanks to that young lady!!!

I live nearby and have tried several of the sandwiches on the menu. So far I've enjoyed everything. Curly fries and bay fries are great, and the portion size is good - I would say you get what you pay for. If you stop inside you can get dollar busch drafts and play board games while you watch the game. Staff is very friendly and the place has a welcome feel to it. Great neighborhood sandwich place, I'll definitely be back for more!

I always forget this place exists. But the food is pretty good. Breakfast has always been spot-on and the home fries are amazing. The space is a little small but I've always managed to snag a table. Have gone here to nurse a hangover and it was just what I needed.

Update 3/28/2014: I am very disappointed with my experience tonight at Moogy's. I am not one who is super concerned with germs and what not, but I was really grossed out with what we saw. We were sitting at a table near the kitchen, and I noticed the cooks using bare hands to cook and handle the food (both raw and cooked). I saw them handling my food and it bothered me, I was going to say something, but then I decided to relax. But then about 10 minutes later, they were dealing with the garbage, hands in the trash, taking out the trash bag, cleaning, etc. Then went back to cooking bare handed without washing hands. I also noticed them using and reusing knives on a variety of foods. I have food allergies and I am sure other people do too, and this is a recipe for disaster for others with allergies. I worked in a restaurant in the state of MA and we were required to wear gloves to handle the food and cook. I am really surprised and disgusted to see this! Please invest in gloves and take some time to be aware of other people's allergies.

I have been going to Moogy's since the good old college days. I've never ordered something that wasn't cooked how I wanted it or that didn't taste anything less than amazing! Great prices, great food, enjoyable atmosphere and they always have great music playing. Not to mention if you need something to do you can play board games as you enjoy your food and drink. I've gone there friends and family and they all agree. Definitely a great spot in the neighborhood!

secret brighton hole endangered dollar beer here goodbye hangover There are many things about moogies that is unique to Boston, and my theory is that this is how it survives: 1. Pretty stinkin cheap food (daily evening specials, $5 lunch specials, breakfast all day) 2. Cheap-o beer and wine. $1 Busch light. And recently $3.50 Yuenling draft! They're not a late night spot (closed by 10ish), but are great for pre-gaming and morning hangovers. 3. Games. They have game to play, if you want. That's awesome! 4. TV! Watch what you want, no one is ever sitting at the bar. Moogies is serving the academic local crowd, and that's how they survive. No frills, no late night, no early morning, just decent food and beer at a decent price. They recently went to CASH ONLY.

I've been holding off on this review for a little while, mostly because I just didn't really have anything that great to say about this place, and that alone was disappointing. I really wanted to like this place, so maybe I'll give it a try again in the future... Anyway, the nice thing about this place was that they let me place an order for pickup just before the Super Bowl. I think in retrospect that should have been a sign, but since they're right up the street and I like to walk, I figured it was just good fortune. The first thing that struck me when I walked in was how disjointed the space feels. The bar looks like something out of one of those Old West theme park areas you find at Six Flags, and the place is high and cavernous, making you really want to whisper. We weren't staying but we weren't sure where all the employees were, so we walked back to the kitchen. Our wings and fries were waiting, but they wouldn't take our card, which was weird. I paid in cash and we were on our way. The wings were unanimously the smallest, least-meaty wings we've had. We wound up making a frozen pizza to make up for the lack of food. The pizza fries weren't that great either, mostly because they had already congealed by the time we got home. I gave it a spin in the microwave, but it didn't help that much. Oh, well. I may give them a shot in the future, just because they look very hipster and they're close by.

Yes, it's cash only. Yes, a large sub can be close to $20. But guess what, it's delicious and I'll keep going for that. You can get delivery through Foodler and pay with a card if you really can't be seen in public/don't have cash.

    (5)
  • Brad M.

The food is markedly overpriced, greasy, and it's cash only.

    (2)
  • Leighcea G.

Well. They have gone to cash only. Sigh so we ordered 5 orders of chicken fingers a couple fries, onion rings, salad and a sub. Does that sound like 80 bucks worth of food ?? Yeah, we cancelled the order and got the same thing at Pizza King for 45.00.

Moogy's is a dynamite spot to grab a bite to eat. Staff are friendly and quick. They will take care of your hangover in a jiff. MMMMOOOOOOOGGYYYYYYY'SSSSSSS.

Yikes, never coming back here again. Came on a weekday, and wasn't even sure if the joint was open! Walk in, and there's a couple of dudes sitting with board games. Walked in to order our food, and there were 5 people in the kitchen! Considering there were only 3 people in the restaurant, that really threw me off. Got our food and was TOTALLY underwhelmed. For what we paid, we could've gone to other nearby establishments and got way better quality. I pretty much paid for a lower grade Subway sandwich. The only redeeming quality of the place was the beer (which, by the way, was totally overpriced). Not sure how they're still open and not sure how they're a college favorite (especially with beer being so pricey!). No thanks.

Is there really anything bad to say about this place? Incredible food, best hot subs I've ever had (and I've eaten all over the country), and DOLLAR DRAFTS. Living right around the corner from this place is pretty awesome.

Good no-frills place for breakfast. Their dishes are pretty creative but comforting. I like the quirky atmosphere and board games. Lots of students on Sat and Sun mornings. Cash only.

Returned to Moogy's after a 4 (!!) year hiatus. As a BC Alum, I've utilized this restaurant for a fair number of late starts and hangover reducers. Now that I'm an "adult", I arrived around 11 AM, starving and only sporting a mild whiskey headache. Luckily the students weren't up quite yet. After I recovered from how different the interior looks (Was there always a bar inside??), I settled into a booth and smiled upon noting that the menu looks exactly the same. I ordered the Popeye Omelette (spinach, feta, and mushrooms) with add-in of bacon. I also ordered one cinnamon chocolate chip pancake for good measure. My boyfriend got the Popeye and a whole order of peanut butter chip pancakes. Safe to say that we like to eat. Everything was delicious. Take a bite of a chocolate chip pancake and a peanut butterchip pancake at the same time - bad for your blood sugar, good for your heart! Well, technically bad for your heart. Only negative is the hash browns -- they are basically short steak fries. You can tell that they're bought frozen & deep fried. Not bad college kid fare, though.

Gil cow meets egg. They have hangover cures galore and tasty concoctions to serve any appetite. This is a must go to sandwich/burger joint in Brighton. There are some things that aren't on the menu that are probably their better than some of the things on the menu, however, you just can't go wrong.

  • Mister Chub S.

Moogy's is great. They're food is good and plentiful and they have lots of board games behind the bar. Their subs are really big. The "large" is about as big as an arm so be warned. And they have Mancakes, bacon and sausage-infused pancakes! Are you kidding me?!

    (4)
  • Dan T.

The food is pretty good. Not super spectacular, but definitely solid. It's a bit pricey and cash only, though they have an ATM which makes that a little easier. They have board games behind the bar, which is fun, and the dollar drafts are a definite plus. When school is on, it's a BC hangout, which can get pretty old if you're older than that.

Intersting atmosphere. I kinda feel like in order to really enjoy this spot, I have to take big rips off a bong. And then request them to blast Pink Floyd's "Comfortably Numb". And then order everything off the menu like Shaggy and Scooby Doo. Ehehehehehehee rooby roo! But for those of us that walk in here sober, it's good food. It's fair priced and what you'd typically expect from a standard bar. Definitely not the place you'd go to hang out all night, but a nice pregame destination if you're in the area. The location is kind of tucked away from all the other bars in Brighton, so it's not really the kind of place that happens to be on the way. I hardly ever find myself in that area. Overall, I'd say it's alright. If I happen to run by this area again, I'd come back. If I were, you know... high as a kite...

Delicious, funky, a bit dark and likes board games. I think I have a crush on Moogy's. Granted, as with the girls I usually like, Moogy's is a little overpriced. Still, each time I've been here I've enjoyed my food, whether it was bacon and eggs, the Wednesday night 25 cent wings special or the delicious Dirty Birdy sub (chicken, broc, teriyaki and mozzarella). The regular fries are kind of boring, so try the seasoned curly fries. Yup, I'm health-conscious. No wonder all the overpriced chicks love me. If you're interested in the wings special, I think it's on Wednesdays from 8-10pm. You have to order in batches of 10, so plan your appetite accordingly. Don't go waltzing in trying to order 7 or 12 or something like that...that's just silly. If you're going for breakfast/brunch, try to get there before noon to avoid the rush. That's when all the pajama'ed college kids come to grease away their hangers. Overall, Moogy's is one of the best casual places to eat around Brighton/Cleveland Circle. I now owe my next food baby to my friends for introducing me.

Best Veggie Burger Subs since Pinocchio's in Amherst, MA. They are unbelievably good. Decent fries too. They reonvated in the past year or so and now it is even more inviting. Huge menu. (Including breakfast all day:):):) tons of different flavored fries, also rings and chicken fingers. The food has catchy Boston-landmark names (fun for your out-of-town friends/tourists) Yum.

A few friends and I came in for dinner on a night before going out and even a small regular sub was sufficient to fuel debauchery for about 7 hours in Boston. Huge Plus. We decided that we clearly needed to come back the next day for breakfast because we were so pleased the night before. My friends and I ordered breakfast sandwiches (which we are finishing in the cab as I'm writing this) and it's amazing. Probably the best breakfast sandwich in Massachusetts. SIDENOTE: The baked goods are also all homemade and totally worth a purchase. Red Velvet Cookies, anyone? Great atmosphere and lighting, Board games galore, EXCELLENT BEER AND MUSIC. 5/5. Would come back. As soon as humanly possible. TL;DR: go here, it's worth it.

I like the interior design here. The booths have stained glass in them and the lighting gives this place a funky feel. The menu on the walls is chalk board style. There's a bar with a tv against one wall where you can get beer on tap if you're hanging with friends. Looks like a fun place for the college kids to hang. Big plus: Free wi-fi. I was big into the chicken "wing dings" there for a while, but most of the fried food you can find at the usual places. I can't eat much bread these days and there are very few unbreaded or unfried options. I got an omelet a few weeks ago, which was a generous portion, but average in taste. To sum up: Average review for the food, but nice style.

Ate her recently because we had a groupon. I had a burger which came on a bread for a sub sandwich. I would bet money that the burger was frozen. It was probably one of the worst burgers I have ever had. There are no plates at this restaurant. The sandwich came out wrapped in deli paper. We had to ask for flatware (which was plastic). We got the chive fries which were okay - not very crispy. There was one person working - the host/waitress/bartender. She was not super friendly. With the groupon it was reasonably priced. Otherwise, not so much. I would not return.

We went there tonight for the first time. We loved it. The food was great and our waitress was wicked good. We loved being able to play games while waiting for our food. We did find it odd that they didn't have sour cream. we will most definitely go back. we just realized we forgot to tip the waitress. I feel awful since she was so good. We will def have to go back. if she is reading this we are so very sorry.

I've been here twice after visiting a friend at BC on two separate occasions and I must say, they have delicious breakfast sandwiches. I am always, nonstop, all-day-every-day craving a bacon, egg and cheese, so when I get to eat one I have very high hopes. Moogy's lives up the BEC I come up with in my head on my walk over there and although the line on Sunday mornings is pretty long, I think the food is worth the wait and it comes pretty quickly after you order. There's tons of seating and the vibe is very mellow so even it's an "early" morning of noon after a festive Saturday night, this is a great place to come for breakfast without the bright lights and bustle you so desperately want to avoid.

  • Sandy B.

Moogy's must've been conceived of, designed, decorated and had the menu planned by people who were high. The result is awesome food, unusual concoctions, and slightly high prices... "because, the food'll like... cost a lot, man," I imagine someone at Moogy's hypothesized. No one else questioned this person, they were too engrossed with their game of Candyland. So yeah, it's not cheap. But, it's not expensive either. My favorite Moogy's sandwich is simple: Grilled peanut butter, banana and fluff. Delicious. Yeah, I could make it myself, but everyone knows a sammich tastes better when someone else makes it.

  • David G.

This is the perfect "I don't know what to eat" place to eat. A lot of great variety in the sandwiches, most of them really unique. Consistently good and relatively quick. The Mother/Child Reunion has to be one of the best hangover sandwiches - chicken fingers, fried egg, bacon, and cheese. The Chicken Parm is really good, too, but order extra cheese and sauce. Come during the evening for a sandwich, a beer or two, and board games. I'm sad that I don't live around the corner from this place anymore.

  • Tessa C.

Moogy's makes for excellent hangover food. I normally go for a mimosa and a breakfast sandwich and it's pretty consistently delicious. When I go for lunch it's a tuna hoagy with hot pepper relish, sooo good. The only downside is that the line can get really long on sunday mornings, but once you order the food comes out pretty fast!

  • Andrew G.

Stopped by this place really quick last night because my friend was hungry. I'll have to come back some time in the future to give it a full, fair review. But from what I saw last night, I really enjoyed the place. From the outside, Moogy's does not look like much. From the inside, its a whole separate world. From the psychadelic decor, to the window you order at, to the Board Game menu, this is one of the "homiest" places I've had the pleasure of hanging out at in a long while. All of the food is "hangover"-esque eats, including all day breakfast, ENORMOUS subs, tons of different french fries and sides, and some cheap beer selections. Moogy's is popular among local college kids, and I can see why. Large TVs in the front and back so I can definitely see this place being a cool place to go watch a game. I met up with a friend who had just come back from Australia and I wanted to hear all about it so we came here. He had some kind of hoagie with chicken fingers, fried egg, bacon, and a whole mess of other stuff. Back in Jersey we call these "Fat Sandwiches" for obvious reasons. He was LOVING LIFE the whole time he was eating it and for about $8 I can see why. I wish I hadn't shortly before otherwise I would have been all over one as well. I just ordered sweet potato fries, but let me tell you they were soooo good. Usually these kind of dives just throw sweet potato fries on the menu just to add an extra item, but these were absolutely delicious. Crispy and lightly salted. I would come back for just these...And I probably will Gotta make it back here real soon to give a full review. Don't think twice- give it a shot!

I like the new layout/decor. The food here is great, especially the breakfasts. I'm a huge fan of any of the subs that have egg, especially the Mother and Child Reunion (that's chicken cutlet with fried egg), the Heart Attack (cheeseburger sub with fried eggs), and Cow Meets Egg (cheesesteak w/fried eggs...and they SHOULD have spelled it "Cow MEATS Egg!"). Their breakfast burritos are great, too, especially The Nuclear Bomb. Other good items on the menu include the Phantom Royale With Cheese (although personally I'd prefer it with A1 sauce instead of BBQ), and any of the French Toast sandwiches. The Bay Fries are AWESOME, and the Chive Fries aren't too bad, either. It's a nice casual place, very popular with the BC students in the neighborhood...perhaps a little TOO popular for those of us that aren't still in college. But everybody can have a good time here. Why it doesn't get five stars: 1) I've had a few problems with the wait when ordering takeout. They've frequently underestimated how long my order would take. Listen, don't tell me what you think I want to hear on the phone...if you're getting slammed and it's going to take 30 minutes, just tell me it'll take 30 minutes! Don't tell me "10 minutes" and leave me waiting at the counter for 20 minutes. I'd much rather you just tell me the truth. 2) On two occasions, I got onions rings that were burned. And I mean BURNED, like charcoal. Both times, I was getting takeout...and I believe that's the only reason they served me food that was obviously ruined, because they figured I wouldn't notice it was ruined until I was already home. Come on guys...is this an episode of "Kitchen Nightmares?" If that had happened on my first visit, they would have never seen me again. I only kept coming back because I'd previously fallen in love with the food. The second time it happened, I stormed back and showed the guy the ruined onion rings and said, "WOULD YOU EAT THIS SHIT?" He apologized and got me some new ones (large instead of the small I'd paid for) and included a free banana bread, and it hasn't happened since...but it DID bother me that it happened. Don't get me wrong, I have MUCH more positive things to say about this place than negative. But for the record, they've got two strikes. Let's hope there isn't a third! By the way, what have you guys done to your website? The new layout is a DISASTER!

Value: 3 stars Creativity/Variety: 5 stars Quality/Taste: 5 stars Service: 4 stars Total: 4 1/2 Awesome food. Awesome gold fish. $1 Busch drafts. Board games. If you gave this place less than 3 stars, you should kill yourself. Also, I will gladly pay $8 for a huge, delicious sub (see: phantom royale). If you're gonna complain about the price, go eat shit food at burger king. Or move out of Boston.

  • Sandra C.

This is a good place to go to when you want something to munch on, and if you're someone like me who likes to eat breakfast foods all the time. The omelets here are so gooood too! But that's about it for me.

FOOD IS GREAT!!! I love the Monte Cristo but almost everything looks appetizing. Ambiance is fantastic. Beer selection is decent. The cool thing is they got old school board games to play with your friends as you wait for your food. Location is off the beaten path but worth the trip. Great hangover spot to recover. Parking is decent and the service is not so bad. They not only try to feed you but they wan to feed your dog too. They sell home made dog treats and a bowl of ice water outside for your pup too.

Delivery only I wanted breakfast for dinner. And this is what I ordered: French toast with a side of bacon and blueberry/banana/chocolate chip pancakes. The french toast was warm. The bacon was cold. The pancakes were kind of warm. I wasn't bothered by this. It was all food that i could zap in the microwave. The pancakes were awesome. I was very pleased. The french toast was good. Nothings different or special. Standard take out butter and syrup. Here is why they lost 2 stars: They use Foodler. I can't stand Foodler. I'm glad that they bring the joy of some of my favorite places to my apartment, but $5.99 to make it happen? Really? I feel a certain bit of shame when i use Foodler... like taking a cab from the North End back to Brighton before 12:45am. I ordered the food via Foodler at 6:30pm. It arrived at my apartment at 7:50pm. Not cool. I was ordered a side of bacon with my french toast for $1.50. I received 3 pieces. THREE pieces. I wasn't expecting an entire pig but come on. Maybe one day I will not be super lazy and go check it out. I might even revise my review. But for now I will stick with 3 stars.

Delicious hoagies and Bay fries! Cheap beer too

  • John S.

They make decent food, and can be creative - banana, cheese omelette.....case and point. And, it was good. I do like this place, but the prices irk me. Especially, the fact that a side of patty sausage = 1 patty and costs $1.50. They also have a pet fish that has quite the personality, you should go there just to meet him. And, yeah, they have board games and good beer deals and cool names for their dishes.

    (3)
  • Chelsea P.

$1 Beers...need I say more? haha...well, they are small and it's Busch light... but still great. Their Monday Pancake special is awesome. The pancakes are a little dry sometimes but still good. Great breakfast sandwiches and specials!

I'll probably get shanked for saying this, but I just don't see the allure of Moogy's The food's nothing fantastic, they're more expensive than necessary and the portions don't match what they charge. Yeah, they've got board games, beer and a tie-dyed sign, but that shouldn't justify the love this place gets. Before I'm roasted further for not giving them a chance I've hit them up at least a half dozen times and every experience I walked away wondering why people rave about this place so much. So the menu has creative titles, but it doesn't make the sub taste any better. If you're looking for Chicken Parm/Cutlet just go to BIg A. Steak & Cheese? Little Pizza King. One thing I'll give props to and this should earn another star, is the dollar drafts. Never EVER scoff dollar drafts!

  • Ramona Q.

My friends love Moogy's. I don't. I can understand its appeal, but I can't get past the atmosphere. I wanted to like it -- the board games are a nice touch -- but t's really dark and claustrophobic in the back room. The portions were a little disappointing; I ordered fries to share with a friend, and they weren't as share-able as the price would have suggested. They tasted fine, but there was nothing particularly special about them (or any of the food that my friends ordered). I'm not interested in returning.

  • Makenzie M.

This place was a bit confusing at first, you have to walk to the back to order from a window and the menu is not right by the window so you may have to work hard to memorize your menu. It was a very large menu. The atmosphere is nice and the prices are pretty good along with great daily specials. I got a scrambled egg (just a regular egg, not seasoned or anything, meh), toast (VERY good toast but just cheap butter that didn't do it justice), homefries (bland but good with ketchup), and a salad (very disappointing, while a 5 dollar small is still very large and the croutons are DELICIOUS, I couldn't eat the salad because they use Ken's ranch which is disgusting). My fiance got the Whatchamacallit or something of the like, which is a banana and cheese omelette, and did enjoy it. He was kind of bummed that the bites without banana weren't very exciting and would not eat this type of omelette often, but he liked it and normally dislikes omelettes. He also had a bagel with his omelette which he thought was mediocre. I don't live nearby but he intends to go there again. Credit card minimum is 10 dollars.

The sandwiches I've tried? 2 stars (I've only been twice, but the sandwiches i've gotten seemed a bit blah.. as in lacking flavor) the french fries? 5 stars. I'll keep going back just for french fries, and order a sandwich out of laziness.

    (3)
  • Sam O.

Pretty decent food but not worth the price. Each time I've gotten food here, that's been my opinion. You can get better for less elsewhere... so what's the point?

    (2)
  • Chris Y.

Are you a college student? Do you consider sweatpants with Uggs acceptable to wear in public? Are you hungover at least 3 days a week? Do you drink Busch? This is your kind of place! The food is pretty good, though it usually doesn't taste as good as it sounds. The staff can be a bit rude and look as hungover as its clientele. Ex: I order an Italian sub. She asks what I want on it. I say: Everything. She looks confused, gives me stink-eye and scoffs. Really? Yeah, really. She then proceeds to ask me about each addition and I respond 'yes' to each one. That's what I meant by everything. She acted like I was being difficult. Cut the drama, I understand working here isn't your dream job, but don't take it out on me, bitch. And some level of table service would be nice. Or at least you could clean the tables, they're filthy.

I live in the neighborhood and was very excited to learn about a good sandwich shop within walking distance, but I was a little disappointed. I really liked the concept, breakfast all day, fun and innovative sandwiches, beer, and games. After eating here a couple of times I got very bored. The sandwiches that I had originally thought were creative and yummy, just seemed like they had been dumped out of a bag previously frozen. And even though it seems like a place where you can hang out all day, the employees just seem to glare at you until you leave. I still come here every couple months, because my boyfriend really likes the place. The only redeeming quality is that we can play games like chess and connect four while we wait for the mediocre food.

Moogy's Sandwich Shop is a little bit more than your normal neighborhood sub shop. It's got personality. The menu is large mostly consisting of creatively named subs made of Shaved Steak and Chicken Steak. They have dollar Busch Drafts(shudder) and games that can be played tableside. I like going there for brunch after a night out drinking. The Rude Awakening (pancakes w/banana, blueberry, and chocolate chips) are my favorite with a side of bacon. There is one caveat though this is totally a college hangout especially at brunch on the weekends and seating can be challenging so be prepaired if school is in session.

I don't know what people are talking about in their reviews about the food not being great. It's a sandwich shop, what are you expecting, 5 star dining? Their steak and cheese sandwich is the best I've had so far. I also die for their seasoned curly fries. Only complaint is that the girl who takes orders looked so unhappy to be there....at least try to put on a fake smile when taking my order!

I liked the atmosphere here quite a bit and it was great to be at a place that encourages people to hang out and play games. The problem was, that was the best part about this joint. The food was fun and decent but nothing to write home about. Here are where the problems come in. 1) I have no idea why there isn't table service. There were 3 or 4 tables going and one waitress working. She took orders at the counter and we had to go back up to get more drinks. Moreover, there was a tip line of the credit card bill. That's borderline insulting. 2) The waitress started closing up 30-45 minutes before close and had her jacket on 15 minutes before we left. I gave you a god damn tip for doing nothing. You could at least have the courtesy to make my friends and I feel comfortable staying until your posted close time. We might have even had another round of beers. 3) The place didn't strike me as the cleanest restaurant ever. All in all, I had a good time there but that was only because of the company and the fact we could play games.

I go here for lunch just about once every week. And I never get tired of it. The menu is huge and varied, it's almost never crowded, and the food is great. Seriously the first time I saw this place I thought it was some kind of smokeshop or pot-paraphernalia store. How wrong I was. Inside it's clean and dimly lit, with the walls covered in all different special items on little blackboards. Their steak and cheese subs are amazing, the chicken not so much to me. The fries are awesome, from the pizza fries to the standard cheese and bacon. They even have beer on tap for those who are into it. And they have a pretty sizeable breakfast menu that's served all day. I've never had a bad meal here, you really should check it out when you're in the area and want some delicious steak and cheese.

Awesome classic board games, cheap $1 (busch) drafts, and unique munchies always makes for a good time here.

We came here on our first night in Boston on a recommendation from someone moving out of our building. Since then, it's been our go-to place in the neighborhood when we need a quick bite to eat. Their variety of sandwiches is indeed impressive, and even a relatively picky eater like me can find different things to get every time. I'm a big fan of their breakfast -- the french toast is great, and I usually avoid getting french toast when I go out because most places mess it up. Their homefries (and regular fries, actually) are hit-or-miss, but when they're good they're really good. Also, the Hail Caesar wrap is one of the best chicken caesar wraps I've ever had.

Don't be confused - yes, the sign outside looks like this should be a head shop, not an "after 2 bowl munchie shop" but it's definitely the latter and you know what's pretty consistent about food that hits the spot when you're high? it's usually pretty blah when you are sober at lunch on a Monday $18 for two sandwiches, and I would love to tell you what I got - but to be frank, it was so eventless an experience that I can't hardly remember. Something with BBQ sauce....and unshockingly, the same BBQ sauce as every other sub shop has out there definitely not a bad place - but definitely my last time making an effort to get there for food. it just taps on the mediocre key so much that it doesn't warrant the effort. god I am old

I'm glad Moogy's has been around the hood, and I hope they stay (just about every other business in the neighborhood has closed)! Good food, great prices, and a bowl of water outside for your four-pawed friend while you are inside having a beer.

Good for students and their limited budgets. You can get eggs, a bagel (toasted to perfection without exception), bacon, sausage--the works--for a fair price. And there's no need to wake up early for it all; they serve it pretty late. The look of it isn't fabulous, but doesn't have to be. And I like that they carry Diet Raspberry/Cranberry Snapple. That's my fave!

I love their sandwiches... Their have a very unique selection of sandwiches with some unique names too... Also they have small bar there which is good to get cheap beer while eating good sandwiches.. They also have board games available to play which is also nice...

Excellent food, but a little bit on the pricy side. The owners are really cool and the place has a great atmosphere. Overall it is a great place to get some good grub if you don't mind paying a little more for the quality.

If you want a colorful, relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff, GREAT food, and a chance at conversation, Moogy's is the place to go. Its unique in both its decoration and its menu. Hoagies, subs, burgers, breakfast food, salad, and desert are all options at Moogy's, yet it doesn't stick to the ordinary. Some of the stuff may sound like it should never go together but it just takes one bite and you're convinced that its GENIUS. I'm a relatively picky eater and I still haven't found something that I haven not liked. (My faves? Cow meets egg, steak and cheese, green giant, dirty birdy, and any one of their pancakes. Their boston creme pie is delicious and the banana bread never disappoints). Plus, who is going to say no to busch dollar drafts all day, every day.. (In other words, there's nothing to complain about here. If you're looking for a Cordon Blue cooked French meal with a 20 dollar bottle of wine, look somewhere else.)

Sandwiches are occasionally half-decent, but not nearly good enough for the price you pay. $10 for a sub? Please. I really wanted to like this place because it's so close to my apartment and they serve cheap beers. But instead, they've failed me time after time with rude and/or unreliable customer service.

Delicious food, cheap and they have board games that you can take and play at your table while you wait. All around great fun.

The location is tough, but the food -- c'mon breakfast ALL DAY and beer make this place worth the trek. I go with the Phat Philly: a huge steak and cheese with old school cheese sauce. hmmm I also love the Breakfast Burger (burger with egg, cheese, and bacon) and the hot ham n' cheese hoagie -- melted cheese, mayo, and ham. You can't go wrong. Wash it all down with beer, beer, and more beer and you'll be good to go.

I've passed by this place many times and have always wondered about it. Last night I finally ordered for delivery, and was quite pleasantly surprised. Grilled cheese, bacon and home fries - yum! Not too expensive, either. Plus the food arrived hot and in less than 30 minutes. My companion, who is quite the discerning turkey sub expert, liked his hoagie. Bonus points. It's not gourmet, but the food is good.

Moogys is really good it gets four stars because they are hypocrites. They have this hippie headie attitude but then they ass rape you on the bill. If it was more reasonable priced I would eat here more often.

  • Zach L.

This place is overrated! I've ordered from here several times, but won't ever again... The first time the food was good, but the next 2 times i ordered, not only was I not impressed with the food itself, but they screwed up the order and forgot my drink (both times)...I feel like an idiot for ordering from here after getting burned the first time, but I figured I would give them the benefit of the doubt...

I really like Moogy's. It helps that it's right around the corner from my apartment, but the food is decent for this kind of dining. I thought the prices were okay. The staff was extremely friendly, and I really like the overall feel of the place. As a side note: I'm a big fan of the music selection.

According to an ex-boyfriend of mine, I cannot claim that "sandwiches" are my favorite food. Clearly, he's an ex for a reason. I love good sandwiches. I mean, they're hard to eff up, but also hard to end up with something special. I've only been to Moogy's once, so this review might be premature, but just their menu gives me the feeling that they understand the art of a good sandwich. I also adore breakfast food, and apparently they have it all day. I've yet to find out if they deliver it though. Also, the place is cute, the girl working there when I went was really friendly, the french fries were too delicious for my own good, and they have board games and dollar beer. Done and done. UPDATE: Got delivery last night. Fast, cheap, and still delicious. Star added. :-)

I wouldn't order breakfast...well, the homefries at least. My first experience here was a bit tainted. I ordered an egg sandwich with homefries on the side. The fries were so crispy, they were painful...to the point that the entire roof of my mouth was cut up and eventually was bleeding. (I'll admit, I have a sensitive mouth...but that's NEVER happened before!) So don't order the homefries. I decided to give it a second chance because all my friends love it- and I'm glad I did. The lunch sandwiches are awesome- really interesting combos, funny names and really reasonable. I suggest the mother-child reunion. It's a great place to go on a date (not a first date, but anything after that) or with a group of friends. It's really friendly and fun. They have games to play and good music. I never knew how intense a game of Candy Land could be with the age group of 22+. A few pieces were missing, so I found a use for my dangerous homefries.

This is my new go to place when I want food delivered fast. They deliver in record speed, sometimes as little as 15 minutes. All the sandwiches we've tried have been pretty good, and their buffalo chicken is especially tasty. They also get points for the selection of fries, and for delivering breakfast in the evening. Yum. EDIT: Banana pancakes are so good that I felt compelled to edit this review to just to mention them. Amazing.

I really like this place. It's around the corner, and super easy to walk to when we want some good, cheap food. I don't know why everyone complains about the price... there aren't any other places in the immediate area that have a comparable menu for cheaper than this place. This place has good, greasy, terrible for you but amazing tasting food, and a HUGE menu with tons of options. I have yet to find something on this menu that doesn't sound appetizing, although I usually end up getting the Phantom Royale (steak, onion rings and bbq sauce on a hoagie roll.. enough said). I take off one star because you think it'd be open later.. but only until 11pm most days, which sucks when you want a late night snack and you can't find anything in your apartment. Overall, the atmosphere is clean, casual and super laid-back. The food rocks, and when you're going somewhere to get good food, that's all that really matters.

I like the place because it is a quite place to sit for a long time. It is comfortable, with big booths, and I can see this being a great place for studying. For the environment, I will go back. For the food and the service, not so much. I had an omelette which was under cooked, and generally nothing to get too excited about. The woman who was working looked like she had a rough night the night before, and was not thrilled to be at work...hey lady: I'm hungover too... deal with it. Parking lot and board games do give them points though, and maybe the sandwiches for which they are named are good? I will have to try them out.

Meh, nothing special. I've been searching for a good breakfast place with hash browns on the menu in my area for a while now. I saw them here at Moogy's up on their board. Psyched! Too bad they lied. Clearly home fries, and not hash browns. I approached the workers about such, and they noted "thats just what we call them". Yeah well, totally different, and your menu is misleading. Why don't you just call your chicken wings boneless while you're at it? Also, food was cold, eggs were cooked incorrectly, and the toast was burnt. Prices = $18 - breakfast for 2. I don't think I ever pay that much anywhere for a bit of morning munchies. (2 x 2eggs, meat, toast, home fries, juice) Won't come back for breakfast ever again.

I'm a fan of Moogy's. Good size servings, weird combos that totally work, and they're always there in the clutch. I used to live close by and would make trips there on occassion when I didn't know what I was cooking for dinner.

My other reviews on Yelp were complaints, so I need to give props somewhere lol. Moogy's is one of my favorite places to grab some good eats. This place has a little bit of everything- subs, breakfast, beers, etc. A very large menu and a very eclectic atmosphere that I like. Plus you can play board games while you wait! A very fun casual place to eat or grab a drink.

I just recently tried a sub from Moogy's for the first time. They must have had at least a hundred delicious sounding subs, sandwiches, burgers, etc. I literally took ten minutes staring at the menu trying to figure out which item to try. I knew I would be back for more! However, after making my selection, I'm not sure if a better tasting sub could exist. I chose the Phantom Royal steak sandwich complete with cheese, onion rings, and BBQ sauce...I'm getting hungry just thinking about it. The atmosphere of this place is very relaxed, with plenty of room to sit. (I even think they have game boards if you're looking for something to do) They also had $1 drafts of Busch if you're thirsty. Could you really ask for more?

Damn you half stars!! This review is really a 4.5 I love the fact that this place is mere seconds away from me. And whenever I feel the need to get my game on, I can go here. The food here is quite tasty, albeit a tiny little smidgen more expensive than it probably should be. I've only been here for breakfast/brunch so I don't know what anything else tastes like. The coffee is meh and they have normal run-of-the-mill juices and stuff. they have...like two beers on tap?? Random, I don't drink beer so whatevs. The name's on the menu are very creative, so extra points for that. The place is kinda small, and if you sit in the back, it can get really cold during the winter. Overall, a great place to go to for brunch (at least for me) and throw in a few board games while you're at it.

    a. waited 40 min for our 3 cheesesteak sandwiches b. gave us a bucket of fries and after nibbling on it, they took it back c. friend stepped on a sticky rat trap (that was under our eating table) and couldn't get it off his shoe d. after a - c, realized that BC cafeteria food is better than this if i had to pick, our boardgame of "Sorry" was the best part of this Moogy experience. I will never ever step in this place again.

Can't say enough. Was looking to try a new sandwich shop for lunch and saw all of these Yelp reviews. Decided to try it out and couldn't agree more! A big, enticing menu. Breakfast all day. The food was great, service was fast and friendly, and $1 Busch Drafts all day everyday? Sounds good to me. They also have a good enough selection of other beers, (Wachusett Blueberry, Harpoon IPA, Harpoon Seasonal, Magic Hat #9, Magic Hat Wacko, etc.) that anyone can find something for their tastes.

Good concept, average delivery. Like a few others I've noticed on here, the girl at the counter looked annoyed that I was even there making her work. I get hungry, and sometimes I like to pay people to make food for me. Get over it. Don't like it? go pan-handle, walk dogs, clean bird cages, sell T passes, or whatever. Paid 20 bucks or so for 2 wraps, 1 order of fries (not very big for the 2+ dollars spent) and 2 fountain drinks. Tables could have been cleaner, however, the concept of gaming on the tables is cool. I've seen it in a few other spots along my travels, but always a delight to see. Not sure if its a "bring your own game peices" thing though. Wraps were "ok", nothing I would want to rub all over my body and smile about. Drinks and everything is self serve, even picking up your food. So, honestly, and I hate to admit it, No, I didn't leave a tip, I tip people to wait on me, bring me things, etc. I'm not going to kick a few extra bucks (let alone 20%) for someone who "HAS" to take my order and give me a cup, The minimum wage they get should more than suffice for that. If anything, they should have had a tip jar or something, let me decide at the end of my stay if I want to kick a few bucks, not when I'm paying for food. All in all though, its a cute little hang out place to use the web, grab a slightly over priced meal but nothing too terribly crazy on the wallet. I will definitely go back again sometime.

The food is super yummy, but the vibe is vaguely creepy. From the outside it looks like a trip back to the 60s or something, but on the inside there are a lot of people who aren't really talking much. I like that they have board games you can play, but people rarely ever play them. The booths are massive, but there are only 6 of them or so, and that makes it nearly impossible to grab a seat during lunch or dinner rush. I highly suggest calling ahead for takeout, and eating at home.

  • Kelly B.

Pretty standard food, though all my friends rave about the sandwiches here. The atmosphere is pretty chill, service a little slow but not unreasonably so. One of the gimmicks is that if you ask, you can get a board game like checkers or Connect 4 to play while you eat/wait for your order. They serve beer here as well. Overall it's a nice place to grab a bite with friends, but not spectacular.

  • M.K. C.

Good, relatively cheap neighborhood eats. Their mimosas are pretty boss, the food is excellent. I was a little confused by their setup the first time I went (you have to place an order at the window), but after the rocky start we had, it has been a wonderful relationship. Also, GAME. MENU. Yes, I have played Connect Four and Chutes and Ladders over heart-clogging good food. Not by any means the best joint in town, nor fancy shmancy, but a great spot to grab some lunch with your friends.

  • Sam F.

I came here this past Sunday for brunch with a few people that I didn't know too well. Let me first say that board games are an excellent ice breaker. Who doesn't bond over a sweet game of Sorry? I had a breakfast burrito, which was solid, but nothing to write home about. They do have some interesting menu options, so I have stuff to look forward to next time. The booths are great for privacy with your party, but don't come here with more than 6 people, because you'll have to split your party. They also serve drinks, but again, nothing stellar and a bit pricey. If I'm in the area, I'll be back.

  • Jen G.

Love this place! Sure the sandwiches are a bit pricey but that's the norm in the area. The menu is huge with whitty names and the french fries are bangin'. I'm not even in college anymore but you can find me here, it's worth it.

  • Kristen F.

If I were in college, this is where I'd be every Saturday afternoon nursing my hangover. Instead, I occasionally go with friends from work during lunch. Their subs are great, particularly The Phantom Royal (steak and chees with onion rings and bbq suace, i hold the bbq sauce) Prices not bad for the portions. Bonus: They have board games like "Sorry" you can play while you wait.

  • Mike D.

I love the concept of Moogy's. I admire people who can be so creative with sandwiches, some of which really take things to the next level. The Phantom Royale with Cheese is one of the cooler sandwiches I've had. But there's concept and then there's execution, and there are problems with the latter: first of all the place is filled with booths and tables and gets a huge weekend rush during the school year, so why not have some table service instead of making people wait in line for upwards of 20 minutes just to order (and never mind the extra time it can then take to get your order brought out)? Plus the quality of the food can be hit-or-miss--maybe it depends on who's back in the kitchen. We tend to go in the summer or else mid-afternoon to avoid the big BC rush. Despite its problems, it's a great place to go get a big sandwich and chill out for a while.

Really!? To be honest I came to Moogy's on a whim, I was actually keen to have Beef Stroganoff for dinner and was interested in finding something better where I would not need to cook. I got a couple of folks together for the almost mile walk to check out this sandwich shop I saw while on a jog. When we got into the place there was some wicked blues going through the speakers, and we were feeling quite blissful! We were in awe from the ambiance....neon, booths, tables, games, and beer! WHOOT! Did I say Games? I mean to play Connect Four whilst waiting for food is perfect after an eight hour day of work. Moogy's has a number of options for the hungry student or working professional that is relatively quick and delicious, whether you are eating in or taking out. For my first visit I went with a mouth watering Chicken Cordon Blue (Chicken Steak Sandwich with Swiss cheese, Ham, and Honey Mustard), and to be completely honest...I could not get enough. This thing I wanted to take for lunch the whole week, but I only held one in my hand. One of my mates got a Dirty Birdy (Steak Sandwich with Broccoli, Teriyaki Sauce, and Mozzarella Cheese) and thought the mix was fulfilling in every way; the other got the Dizzy Pig (3 Eggs, Ham, Bacon, Sausage, with Home Fries and Toast)because he was feeling breakfast for dinner. And we (actually by we I mean I) had a brew to wash the goods down. I would totally recommend Moogy's to anyone looking for a rustic place with good food and a friendly staff to chill for a meal. Although I am sad to say I no longer live a mile away...I am plotting a trip for a Heart Attack or Phantom Royal.

If you're gonna go to Moogy's get the Grateful Hash: homefries covered in cheese, ham, mushrooms, tomatoes and onions. I've had a few of the sandwiches (C3PO is my hero. The tuna sub, not so much. Not enough tuna). The bread could be better (toasted would definitely help). It gets soggy pretty quickly. My friends have been more adventurous with the sandwich choice but are often disappointed. Service is slow. But they have board games (and UNO!) to distract you from the wait.

Moogy's The Wind Up There are few things in this world that I enjoy more than sandwiches and Brighton, so when an opportunity arises to eat a sandwich in Brighton my day is made. One of the finest sandwich establishments in Brighton is Moogy's on Chestnut Hill Ave. The psychedelic sign is the first clue Moogy's is not your normal dining experience. Once inside the 70's funk aesthetic is continued with a sparkly fish tank and individual creatively named menu items written large on chalkboards adorning the walls. The Pitch Moogy's serves a wide range of sandwiches and breakfast items. All menu items have unique names ranging from the C3P0 Chicken Steak to the Mother and Child Sandwich (French toast stuffed with ham and cheese). House Specialties include Steak and Cheese subs (including the Phantom Royale named after the Phantom Gourmet himself), 12 Chicken Steaks (including one named for my alma mater; the BU features chicken cheese steak with extra chicken, provolone and American cheese) salads, hot and cold sandwiches, and breakfast served all day. Moogy's even has 3 or 4 beers on taps, including 1 dollar Busch drafts. And while you're waiting for your food play one of the board games they keep behind the main counter; I recommend Connect 4 but they also have Sorry, Chutes and Ladders, etc. Results- Double Moogy's makes a darn fine sandwich. It's not super cheap (prices range $5-9 for most sandwiches) but it's very tasty. I especially enjoy the Phantom Royale, a steak and cheese sub with onion rings and bbq sauce. The ambience is fun and friendly, the food creative, and board games are a nice touch. Beer, breakfast, and board games are an excellent combination and Moogy's has all three in spades. I've enjoyed all of my past Moogy's experience and look forward to returning there in the future. I give Moogy's a double rating for the two bases of taste and variety only losing a few points for value.

"Found" this place with the help of google maps when I was looking for somewhere to grab a sandwich for lunch. I moved back up to the area after living in DC for 8 years and I am trying to get reacquainted with the city. Needless to say this was a great find! Chili cheese fries were amazing!! (Comparable to Ben's Chili Bowl in DC) and the sandwiches were huge and delicious! I cant wait to try more things on the menu!

I live a couple of blocks away so I go here all the time (and get it delivered if I'm really lazy or it's raining). Great breakfast burritos and egg salad subs. The egg salad sells out quick, so ask them to double check they have enough before finalizing your order. I tend to go middle/late afternoon with a book and chill for a while. Music can be a little loud, but it's good stuff, everything from Dean Martin to Grateful Dead. If you ask the staff they have a collection of board games (Connect Four!), some of the tables have chess boards inlaid in them too. Can be crowded, especially weekend brunch-time. They totally should take over the storefront next door and add another dining area.

Waaay overpriced. Unless you like overpaying for a steak and cheese and seasoned fries and you are too lazy/stupid to go somewhere else.

Upon initial inspection, Moogy's appears to be an establishment run by stoners, for stoners. The decor is a welcoming mix of psychedelia and dark wood. Decent beer deals and board games make the eat-in experience a nice one. Catering to the dietary id in all of us, there isn't much on the menu that would be approved by the trainers on The Biggest Loser. That said, I've sampled 10 or so different items from their extensive menu and all but 1 has been DELICIOUS (skip the buffalo wings--on the menu as an afterthought imo). Cheesesteaks are fully customizable (I suggest the addition of mayo, sauteed onions, bbq, and bacon---don't judge). The Love Child is a ham, turkey and swiss sandwich on french toast and served with maple syrup (I was skeptical at first but it's a go-to item now). Chive fries are a must have side as well. Breakfast alone is decent (and my friends seems to really dig it) but if you choose to indulge, make sure you eat there as their bfast does NOT travel too well for some reason. When we are ordering in (which we do often), Moogy's is always on the short list. P.S. On one occasion DiningIn had forgotten to pickup the French Toast for our massive order (I think there were 8-10 of us eating that morning). I called and the management apologized profusely. Someone it to my apartment immediately and in the bag was a HAND-DRAWN coupon for $10 on 8.5'-11' paper signed by the person who drew it with the message "Sorry we goofed, please accept our apology". There was a picture of a crying pig with a tissue box colored in with crayon. I still can't even draw a proper horse. I was impressed.

board games + cheap beer + cool booths. sandwiches w/ some real crazy names and even crazier combos supplant the traditional breakfast and lunch (i think?) fare quite nicely. I found this place after my college days and still love it . I can only imagine the joy it would have brought me during the wild times of my youth. I love their simple bacon egg and cheese on an english muffin the most. I live in Somerville now but any time I have a chance to take 10 minutes and swing by Moogys when I am in that part of town, best believe I do. True.

I have always loved this place. The sandwiches were great and I loved that they had a 'dog water' bowl outside. My ex boyfriend loved their montecristo sandwiches or their heartattack sandwich and I loved the steak/provolone/bacon/bbq sauce or the chili/eggs burrito. They had a ton of sandwiches with quirky names like C-3PO. When this place is packed though, it's slow. I used to go when no one knew about it, but the last time I went I saw they had upscaled the joint a little. There's not much parking but I've never had a problem finding any. A little on the expensive side.

This is our "go-to" place, especially for lazy weekend mornings. It's a cool, laid-back kind of place. DEFINITELY full of college students, so if you don't want to be around college students, then Moogy's is not for you. But, we've never had a problem with them there, so we like it. They have fun options for burgers, with all kinds of weird and yummy toppings. I'm a big fan of the Rueben Burger and sweet potato fries. Their cheese steak subs are also really good. But, if you are in the mood for breakfast, the absolute most delicious thing I've had here is The Love Child. omg, yum! It's a sandwich made of french toast and it has turkey, ham and swiss grilled inside. It's an awesomely delicious invention.

Love at first Bite. This place has it all from your basic eggs and toast breakfast to burgers with mayo and peanut butter on them. It is a quaint sized restaurant with a much bigger attitude. They have beer and wine selection along with other non-alcoholic drinks. The meal that truly won me over was the. "full monty", A steak, BBQ, Provolone, and bacon sub. It's a heavenly combo. This place is great weather its for a hung over breakfast trip or a late night binge session. Even better its only like a block away from my apt.

While I'm not crazy about the atmosphere here (college sports bar) this has turned into one of my regular haunts. I like the hot veggie sub. It is made with a sweet mustard, broccoli, cheese, and other veggies. It comes in small, medium or large. The veggie burger sub is my new favorite. A small is large enough unless you have a huge appetite or want leftovers. I suspect that the meat subs are good, if you are a meat eater. They have nice large booths and serve beer. They have great side items--curly fries, cheese sticks, etc. You can get take-out or you can have it delivered. I especially like that they have some cheap menu options like grilled cheese sandwiches. I like to get food to go and take it up to the Reservoir to eat under the trees.

Moogy's great because it provides both board games and beer. Spectacular combination. The food is up and down - the salads are below par, but the french fries, far above! The specialty fries are especially delicious - try the sour cream and chive ones. You think the grilled cheese is great, but you might find yourself with a hefty stomachache a few hours later. The booths are great for any size group. Bring your friends here for a fun, relaxed night where you can drink and not be at a bar. Instead, you can show of your scrabble skillz.

Last time I went here I tried the Chicken Cheesesteak, and it was an all-around rough experience for me. The chicken was bland and the cheese(I think provolone) added nothing. Partway through the meal, I decided it needed something else, so I tried the syrup at the table. As one might expect, this was terrible(admittedly my fault, but the syrup wasn't excellent). Next I tried some hot sauce, but they have Tabasco or Cholula and I'm staunchly a Frank's man. In fairness, curly fries were quite good, though.

First time at Moogy's this weekend. Things were refreshingly (and, I admit, surprisingly) non-greasy. I'd had an ubergreasy couple of eggs at Rosebud the day before which I was not feeling, so I was ambivalent about walking over here, but I was pleasantly surprised. French-fry like home fries are not usual my favorite kind, but are still fried potatoes and thus good. These were crispy with a little softness inside -- cooked just about perfectly. The wheat toast was better than at most diners I go to -- not shaped like WonderBread! And the eggs were decent. Yeah, the whites were crispy-ish, like they'd used Pam instead of oil (which I wouldn't bitch about, admittedly), but there was some goo in those over-easy egg yolks, so it was all good. I slathered hot sauce on like usual and was rewarded with a perfectly light breakfast. Thanks, Moogy's!

Absolutely delicious. My friends and I stumble in here every sunday morning after a night of drinking and it really hit's the spot. Very friendly people and their muffin melt is awesome. I like that they've opened the place up a bit, but it's kind of dark in the back seating area

moogys is great! lots of options for sandwiches, breakfast and other finger foods. definitely one of my weekend favorites. it can be very crowded with the BC kids coming in to nurse their hangovers from the night before with greasy foods so you might have to wait or take your food to go on the weekends later in the morning and in the early afternoon. overall great sandwiches. lots of variety. highly recommend you try it if you havent gone already.

This place rocks...I thought it looked so bizarre when I first moved here, but am SO glad I tried it. I've had a steak sandwich there, and I'm from Philly, and don't eat those too often in Boston, but it was good. Old Bay fries are GREAT, so is the frozen yogurt. My hoagie was great...burger was just OK. They serve breakfast all-day, which is always a plus. They have beer, they have board-games and are pretty cheap. What more could you want? Really?

How many places can you enjoy a killer omelet or sub with a beer while listening to hippie music and playing connect four on a Sunday? Not too many. This place is pretty cool.

Someone took some deep hits from the bong, took a nice nap and dreamed this place into existence. For a place that's main-stay is a sandwich, this joint sure has some creative selections. Seating is in large pub-style booths. A selection of board games is behind the counter to borrow, and they have beer on tap. Also, I can't fail to mention the groovy fish tank. The only reason I give them only three stars is that the foods not always that great. The sandwiches can be soggy, and the creativity of the offerings doesn't always work. It's a cool place to hang out, though.

Nice place to go chill, but this place's food really sucks for what its supposed to be. Nothing is flavorful compared to the other joints that serve cheese steaks and burgers. Also I've asked many times for something, no onions for instance, to be not on my sandwich, and every time they forget to do it, which is incredibly irritating. Also, this place is supposed to be a pseudo-fast food joint, and I generally end up waiting for about 15 -20 min for a cheese steak , even when theres no one in the store. I wouldn't eat here if it wasn't convinient-- I happen to live across the street.

Best sandwiches in Boston. Don't go here if you are looking for traditional NY style sandwiches, Moogy's puts their own flair on the boring and traditional and they do it very well.

My (school) bus stopped in front of this place for ten years. The overly greasy onion rings are amazing onion-ring-crave-busters (best I've found anywhere I've gone). Their steak and egg is decent. I enjoy all their salads, the amount of food they give (and the fact that they're all named after surrounding towns). The wait isn't _terrible_ but it's not the snappiest around. I love coming back here when I need some hearty goodness.

If i want a sandwich delivered this is the place. yes it is slightly overpriced and could have a bit more meat in it. however those bites in the middle of the sandwich are incomparable to anything else around. What I like is that they don't have the same sandwiches as other places. they are creative and it makes for unique tastes

I am not thrilled with Moogy's. I know they have some cheap specials and a few cheap drafts, but I always leave the place feeling like I spent too much. Maybe it's the paper plates and plastic utensils (which feels so wasteful when you dine in) or the food that seems so creative, but really tastes as if they are skimping on quality.

I spent my first six years in Boston searching for a sandwich shop until I found Moogy's. It is the best sandwich shop in Massachusetts. You absolutely can not find a better cheesesteak without driving the 5 and a half hours to Philly.

great psychadelic little cafe. good for the typical diner food. it's not waiter service though, you go up, order, wait, get your food, and sit. great place for weekend mornings when you are hungover! great friend food, chicken fingers, pancakes, and crazy different sandwiches. weak on the coffee and dessert selections. fun place!

4.5, but... This place is the place that comes to mind when anybody asks me if they want to order for delivery. I can't get enough of the Pizza Steak Sub. This place is kind of expensive, but the subs are good sized, and it's really creative, original, tasty stuff. I Love Moogy's!!!

Love Moogy's! I especially adore the breakfast-all-day and the board games. What's better than scrambled eggs and some Scrabble?

I had the 'Full Monty" (provolone, bacon, BBQ sauce) 6-inch cheese-steak sub and a small "crab fries" (fries with Old Bay seasoning) for a total of $8.15. The fries would have been a totally forgettable affair but for the sprinkling of Old Bay. The sub was alright; but puny for it's price, and I found myself asking (rhetorically) "where's the beef"? Or "steak" in this instance. I agree with the other reviewer that the middle parts of the sandwich are good, but there was simply no beef at the ends at all. I also realize to my dismay that if I hadn't ordered the fries, I would still be hungry if I just had the sub alone; the fries were what filled me up. This led me to the conclusion that this place is very overpriced and I felt ripped off. Service was slow and they didn't even have paper plates but wrapped the sub in stiff paper. Not recommended. But It was smart of them to add Old Bay to the fries and I will get my own shaker from Shaws for my fries in the future.

so the owner of moogy's (philip s.) decides to give his own shop a 5-star; interesting...hmm...i've ate here and don't think it's worthy of even 3, 2 at best since there's not enough meat in the sub, sure he says they can always add more meat, but honey, i'm not looking to pay another 3 or 4 bucks for that, a sandwich on its own should have enough filling without having to incur further charges. overrated and overpriced. dude, it's not like another register will speed up the service, it's more like you need another 10 cooks in there.

i will drive from someville to brighton just to eat some eggs and play connect 4. this has been one of my favorite places for the past 5 years or so, and i didnt even go to BC!

BC students seem to worship this place but the funky interior seems to have more spice for life than the sandwiches. Pretty interestesting selection but I was never blown away and the service is slow.

Good stuff! Delicious, giant sandwiches. Yes, they are about $.75 more than they should be, but they are huge, clean, delicious, and funky. They have $1 drafts, which is nice. Huge fan of the crab fries -- lots-o-Old Bay seasoning. Never had a bad meal here. Board games at the tables...call ahead if you don't wait to wait awhile during weekend rush times, as BC kids load up the place trying to kill hangovers.

Moogys is laid back and casual. Always packed especially on the weekends. Typical breakfast foods. Good sweet potato fries and omelettes. French toast is okay. Seems kind of dirty but I guess part of the dive bar ish vibe. Lots of food for your money. Small bar selection. Big tables in the back are good for groups.

In the midst of BC territory, the funky charm of Moogy's awaits. Yes, if you go on a Saturday before a BC football game you will witness 20 year old boys with gelled hair in suit jackets and t-shirts (a fashion trend I will never comprehend) chowing down their breakfasts with beers... so if kegs and eggs are not your idea of a fun time, go for a late lunch or early dinner. I'm a sucker for the relaxed vibe and crazy good french fries. (I'm fairly sure the fries have some illegal substance in them, because damn, they are good.) Sure, it's cheaper to go to McDonald's, a deli, or to make your own sandwich. But to me, it's worth the wait for food and the extra $3 you pay to hang out with friends in a cozy booth over a game of connect 4 with a $1 draft of Busch and a crazy-named sandwich. I feel like there should be more places like Moogy's, although I would probably be considerably larger if there were. I don't live in Brighton anymore but when I am in the area I always stop by. My only suggestion is to make it more diner-style and start using real plates and silverware... help out the environment and give less of a fast-food feel. After all, the food is made to order and it's not like it's been sitting under a heat lamp all day.

Sangys are out of this world. The many options leaves me pondering what to order each visit. Great staff is very friendly as well as fantastic instagrammers. Art work and menu very original. Board games make it more than just a sandwich shop and more of a hangout place for a sitcom. Oh and dollar PBRs. Ps. Specials during the week are worth it.

I used to be a moogy's regular back when I lived in Brighton. The subs are usually good, and they make some really funky ones if you're feeling adventurous (try the phantom royal!). Breakfast is great too- I especially like how customizable their breakfast options are. Moogys let's u order a side pancake of whatever variety you want (I like the banana chocolate chip). Not too sure why they have a bar because they usually close around 10, and I rarely see anyone drinking when I'm there. Anyway, the service is great, and they have board games too! Need I say more?

Clever menu names + board games + lots of unhealthy food makes for a fun time. Their eggs/toast didn't impress me on my last visit but I like the laid back vibe and am ready to go back give a sandwich and sweet potato fries a try... partially because their Instagram (@moogysgoodeats) is totally mouthwatering.

While the atmosphere is a little dull feeling, don't let that dissuade you from coming here for lunch or breakfast. The food is very reasonably priced and it taste pretty good. The people there were also very friendly to us. The fries were very tasty and our sandwiches tasted pretty good as well. I would recommend this place if you happen to be in the area.
