Hi, my name is Brian... And I'm a donut a holic... So, when I found this hole in the wall donut shop, and tried their delicious confections, I was hooked. Linda's is a treat that I found on Yelp and now will drive out of my way to go to at least once a week. Their donuts are definitely among the best I've ever had. Their prices are very reasonable. The one downside is that it doesn't look great from the outside, but that has absolutely zero effect on the deliciousness of the donuts. the coffee is good too. If you're into doughnuts , like I am, then you should definitely try this place.

A Classic Donut Shop Linda's makes a limited variety of donuts but they are fabulous. The honey-dipped are among the best I have ever eaten. Crispy on the outside, soft and cakey in the interior with the perfect hint of nutmeg, and dunked in just the right amount of glaze. They also make breakfast sandwiches that are comforting and delicious. I would describe Linda's as a luncheonette. There is limited seating.

So imagine you see your doctor in Cambridge or Belmont. He or she kinda gave you a bit of a hard time regarding your health choices throughout the year. He or she imparted unsolicited pedantic advice about eating this, not eating this, not doing this, doing this, and so on. As your mind wanders through the ramble, you wonder, "how to celebrate another year of surviving yet another annual physical"? An unapproved endeavor like getting a donut here is one way. Getting a bowl of high blood pressure like ramen is another. But let's go with the former. The old fashioned donut at Linda's is quite good, with the outside crispy while the inside cakey and soft. The bit of spice really helps out as well. The Bavarian cream is soft and packed full of thick liquid goodness. Yes, as you can imagine, it's cash only. Service isn't an emphasis and neither is the seating.

Checked out this place on a Saturday around 10a. While I was a little disappointed that my go-to new donut place donut was not there (Boston Cream), I understand it's a Saturday morning. I went for the honey dip and chocolate frosted with jimmies. The chocolate frosted one surprised me because it was an old-fashioned, cake donut with chocolate and sprinkles on top--I am more used to those lighter, airy ones. The honey dip one wasn't bad and maybe it was just sitting out a little bit, but did not seem as fresh as I hoped. All and all, ok. I might give it another go to make sure this wasn't a one time thing.

Light and airy donuts can be found at this hole in the wall type store. I loved that the honey glazed donut I had here wasn't too heavy and oily, but I wasn't really wowed by the flavor or anything. Still, good neighborhood shop that I'd probably visit too often if I lived in the area. $10 minimum for credit cards.

WHAT A TREAT! Stopped by this morning to pick up a donut because I was lying in bed last night yelping breakfast spots in the area and this sounded the coolest. It's not the fanciest hub, but there's parking on the street and as soon as you walk in to the no-nonsense interior "decorating" you know you're in for some good food. I opted for the honey dipped chocolate stick donut - uhmazing. There were a few old timers (clearly regulars) sitting down in a booth eating a more substantial breakfast, so you can definitely do that here too, but I just ran in for a quick bite. There was no line and it took all of 45 seconds to get back out. I'll be popping by again to try the other yelpers favorites. $1.25/donut - no cards under $5

Linda's is the absolute best around. Their donuts and breakfast sandwiches are all I've tried (and they are amazing, I go every Saturday morning)!

Best honey dip donuts around-- great service and nice people.

Linda's is a great neighborhood spot if you're craving a donut or a standard greasy breakfast sandwich. We live nearby so we can walk there, although I doubt I would drive out of the way to stop here. The donuts are decent - definitely better than those at DD or the grocery store. My favorites are the glazed twists and the lemons. Get there early for a better selection.

Good. Coffee . i had the iced it was great.. Glad i spent my money. Here and not dunkins . the donuts. Are hearty and cake like . it reminded. Me of the donuts. I had in Dublin . the people and staff are friendly. As well.. What a great place

OMG - one of my friends brought these to a Broker Open House in Newton and they were the BEST!

Great staff but somewhat disappointing donuts. We got the chocolate cruller, lemon filled cruller, chocolate cake honey dipped, and coconut cake. I'll admit I'm a total donut snob, but I really didn't think Linda's lived up to the hype. A good old fashioned cake donut should have a super crispy and crunchy crust that can be peeled away, and these really didn't have that. The lemon stick's crust was only crunchy on the very top and soft everywhere else and definitely needed more filling. Major bummer. Chocolate cruller had a few good parts, but didn't taste chocolatey. Coconut and chocolate honey dipped had better crusts, but again, so - so. Long story short, Verna's in Cambridge is better and Linda's wasn't really worth the trek to Belmont. Oh and get there early. Got there at 920 AM on a Sunday and they were almost sold out.

This donut place is the best. I often go this place early morning with my 7 month old daughter. Their coffee goes well with their fresh donuts. The donuts are all great, especially old fashioned is my favorite. They make donuts everyday morning. So, earlier is better for its freshness, but later is also greater than any other donut places. They also offer home made style breakfast. Price is good, taste is good, and experience is great in here every time.

If I were to rate Boston's doughnut shops, it would go a little something like this: 1. Linda's donuts .....and in a distant 2nd and 3rd, respectively Union Square Donuts Ohlin's Bakery Linda makes the best glazed doughnut I have ever had. Its light + fluffy and a little chewy...its seriously PERFECT. Union Square donuts are a little too dense for my liking and Ohlin's bakery's donuts are too greasy. You can also get a large breakfast to share (legit can feed 2 people) with coffee AND get 2 donuts for ~$10

  • Demi T.

Amazing. If I could eat these donuts everyday I would. But I can't do that... ...so come sunday mornings after I've had a late night out, I drag myselt to lindas and bring home 1/2 doz, 2 bec's, and 2 hot coffees for my partner and I. This is how every lazy football Sunday should be started.

somehow I developed a routine of bringing a half or dozen Linda's donuts to work every Friday. And every Friday my coworkers beseech me to tell someone over at Linda's how much they love their donuts! The donuts are always soft and delicious, but furthermore, the gentleman who is usually behind the register is always friendly. At one point I wanted to get a dozen for an office function and unfortunately most donut varieties were sold out. No probs! They were kind enough to take a bunch of the plain donuts and whipped up powdered, cinnamon, etc.

  • Ariel Z.

I hate Dunkin Donuts with a passion. Those airy fluffy donuts have no substance. Now Linda's donuts are the real thing! However, the donuts are super-sized and only come in a few flavors. I recommend the honey dip french twist donut as well as any kind in the chocolate flavor. The coconut butternut was too rich for me. Good, strong coffee and very welcoming, upbeat staff.

  • Christina M.

Classic donut shop, the kind that's been around forever and unfortunately are fewer and farther between - With classic donuts, I go for the chocolate honeydip (cake donut) and regular honeydip (raised). So good.

    (5)
  • Ronnie M.

Come for the fantabulous donuts, stay to watch the kid at the register get yelled at by the old Greek lady. This will happen about every 20 minutes or so, so wait for it. Seriously though, love this place.

  • Jeff D.

While I believe the donuts are better at Ohlin's down the street, the breakfast sandwiches here cannot be beat for quality or price. Bacon, egg and cheese on a bagel is my personal favorite but I'm sure they are all good. Dunkin Donuts shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath.

  • Katie T.

This place is awesome and I am so lucky to be right down the street! They are always super fast, the coffee is good, and the donuts are amazing.

I love the ambiance of this family owned diner like a slice of America's past! The guy behind the counter and his Dad are friendly and accommodating - never failing to help me with the door when I have the baby carriage. They clearly take a lot of pride in their food and service. The Honey Dew donut, BIG, fresh and recommended to me by the owner, and iced vanilla coffee (strong, similar to McDonalds) are HEAVEN; the all time treat. Once when I was there near closing time, they snuck a complimentary donut into my bag... one is good, two are better. Someone asked why I gave this place 4 stars, not 5. I do believe the restaurant needs a bit of a reno facelift (while maintaining the old school diner charm.) But I'm pretty sure you wouldn't notice with one of those gourmet donuts in your mouth.

    (4)
  • Mike M.

Still one of the best places to grab a breakfast sandwich, mine still being a bacon egg n cheese on a everything bagel. Donuts are still the best in the area. A great blue collar diner with great food They have recently added credit/debit method of payment which is great because there is no atms in the area.

  • Sam M.

Best Donuts Ever I gave an order of 112 donuts with only 1 day notice. The next day there were all the donuts I asked for. The donuts are big, the price tags are small. Life couldn't be better.

  • Matt M.

Linda's is amazing. Now that beach season is winding down.... I just bought a dozen for my coworkers and they went nuts. There isn't much to say. The donuts are crunchy on the outside, and moist on the inside. All of the fillings are perfect. The staff are friendly and helpful. They always offer to make custom orders for you. I had a full breakfast one time too. It was a good home style breakfast, but nothing gourmet. Donuts are the stars. Not much to look at from the outside, but I am not sure what you would expect from donut shop. Sweet treats burried in Belmont!

  • Beth R.

A friend bought a dozen donuts this morning and in between the top 6 and bottom 6 were several dirty old receipts! See photos.... And when we Called the woman says.. Well don't worry about bringing the receipt back. Mom goes I won't! My problem is we are food that you served to us on dirty receipts!! She goes. Well idk. It was an accident. Gross!!! Belmont board of health will be getting a phone call tomorrow. I could see if they wanted to try to smooth things over.. But they didn't even care!

  • Scott G.

Better than Ohlins. We bought a dozen from each and taste tested. On the plus side, we found the best local donuts. Eating donuts for three days straight might have been a bad choice, however.

  • Eunice E.

The donuts themselves are a 5. Out-of-this-world delicious, fluffy, fresh... wow! I had a chocolate frosted one, and I wish I could have had a dozen to myself. I'll never look at Dunkin quite the same anymore. I was a bit turned off, though, by the fact that it was cash only (no visible sign), which meant schlepping to the BOA over by Moozy's for a donut and iced coffee... and then! when I asked for iced coffee, I *almost* got a McDonald's-esque drink, where the ice was put into the cup (good) and then hot coffee was almost poured in (bad). Luckily, the guy caught himself and gave me the correct kind of coffee, but it was just a bit merrghhhh all around. I'll definitely be back for those light-as-air handmade donuts, though... with a big wad of cash to pay for them all!

  • Matt D.

I am awash in people claiming that dunkin donuts' donuts are good. Clearly they have never been to Linda's. THIS is what a donut should taste like. Their cakey donuts are not to heavy and are packed with flavor. You can really tell the freshness and quality with every bite. The jelly donut is also fluffy and not over the top, sickly sweet. The ratio of dough to jelly is perfect. These donuts were once described to me as "so light and fluffy that you just want to lay your head down on them and take a nap," and they stand up to that description. A+

  • Barbara A.

I have not enjoyed a doughnut in a looooong time. A friend of ours picked up a Baker's Dozen from Linda's and brought it over and I gotta say - it is what I remember DD's stuff tasting like when they first opened (and were still good). I enjoy the more cake doughnuts and the kids (my hubby is on that list too!) like the jelly/cream filled ones. What I like is that I actually feel full after one doughnut and it does not feel like I am eating air. The other thing I like is that I don't get that oily coating on the top of my mouth when I eat these EVIL things.

Talking about gourmet, introducing the gourmet donut! How fancy, how delectable, how delicious, I want to count all the ways I love this establishment. Never thought donuts could be this food until I found Linda's donuts. Fortunately for me ( and unfortunate for my waist line) this little slice of wonderful is in my neighbor hood and I could not be happier. Let me tell you something just the basic honey dip or glazed is something special here so treat yourself or take home a few for the family, you will truly amaze them. Another little trick is to take a dozen or two ( or three, four etc.... You get the point) to a party, pot luck or get together and you will be the talk of the party.

After New Years Eve this year, my fiancee and I woke up ravenous; in need of some yummy breakfast. We had spent the night in the Brighton area and decided to head to Watertown to a local diner we knew. Since it was New Years Day, it was packed! I asked Siri to let me know of any cheap, decent eateries around the area. The first one to pop up was Linda's. We were already 3mins away so we decided to go check it out. As we arrived the outside looked small and cozy yet people were going in and out with bags of food. We stepped inside (still in our attire from the night before..walk of shame for sure), and we were pleasantly surprised. It was a quaint, townie looking spot. PERFECT for our hunger needs. The man at the front was extremely friendly and looked as if he had been there for years (although he was younger). Service was excellent, food portions were just perfect, and the ambiance was just chill. There were older folks and teens, all grouped together as really happy customers. I would def recommend this joint! P.s- My fiancee got the honey dipped jelly doughnut and it was reallllly good!

I can only speak of the donuts. They are great. I dare to say on a similar order to the mythical Top Pot out of Seattle. They are substantial donuts with a distinct taste and feel. I typically order a Chocolate honey dipped or a honey dew which are similar to a old fashioned but glazed. Delicious. There prices recently went up but it is definitely worth it and worth a try if you have not been in.

Being new to the area, I was hoping to find a cute bakery for our Sunday morning family donut run! We were stuck in a rut going to "Dunkin' Donuts" because it was available and quick, but a friend introduced us to Linda's! The donuts are so great and I'm partial to the warm breakfast sandwiches made to order from FRESH ingredients. The only downside is the minimal seating available. If you can catch them at a quiet time, then you should be able to sit and relax, but if not, it's still great to "grab and go!"

Meh.... It's absolutely nothing compared to Ohlins that is literally right down the street. But they are not horrible. So 3 stars it is,

Honest, workmanlike donuts made by honest, workmanlike people. Unfortunately, when it comes to donuts, "honest" and "workmanlike" aren't the adjectives I'm looking for. Donuts are what you eat on the mornings when you wake up shouting "eff it, universe! I'm an effing adult, and if I want to get bombed out on glazed fritters at 5:30 a.m. in the morning, then that's my God-given right as an American!" If I wanted to start my morning with something competent or responsible, I'd grab a dang English muffin or some non-frosted shredded wheat or whatever. All bombast aside, Linda's perfectly good donuts suffer because they're just seven tenths of a mile away from Ohlin's, which makes a superior product. It's one of the only spots in Greater Boston where two great independent donut shops are close enough that you've got to choose between them on a regular basis, and I have to admit that Ohlin's almost always wins out for me. Linda's donuts just aren't titillating enough. They're not fried to a crisp or drenched in glaze, and they don't come in many flashy flavors or colors. Like their clientele, they're restrained, polite, and haven't changed a hair in 50 years. I respect that, and may even aspire to it, but given the choice, I'll still take the flashier donuts (double chocolate! raised buttercrunch!) and brave the yuppies at Ohlin's up the road.

  • Sharon O.

Pretty much the best doughnut I've ever had- a nice fresh regular (is it actually a regular or just my regular) plain-looking circular one with chocolate icing on top. Actually, coming from a place where the only kinds of donuts were from the grocery store or DD's, I was kind of surprised on first bite at Linda's at how fresh donuts could be! Staff is really friendly and nice. All around this is a wonderful little hole in the wall. I haven't tried their egg sandwiches yet, but I've heard good things from locals in real-life. A few tables inside- but we take & run.

Linda's Donuts was recommended to me by many different people, so I finally went to see what the hype was about. Wicked good donuts, oh my are they wonderful! They are light, flavorful, and if you can control yourself to eat only one, you won't feel guilty about it. But...they are so good that it's nearly impossible to eat only one. The staff was friendly, the prices were fair, and the food was fantastic. I'll be going back when I'm in the area again! Donuts elsewhere have been ruined for me because of how good they are here.

Best fresh doughnuts! Conveniently on the 73 bus route on Belmont Street. Only downside is that they only take cash. Totally worth it though.

Ok I've been here enough times to give this place a more fair review. It can all be summarized by one statement which is: they consistently are unable to get your order right. They even write it down yet I still end up with a wrong order. Last time I ordered a bagel with two eggs. I saw her write it down. I got? Two bagels with one egg each. Ok great, I got an extra free bagel but with one egg? It sucks. So i transferred the other egg in and didn't eat the second bagel . They even realized and acknowledged they made the order incorrectly but didn't fix it. Someone else ordered a bagel with cream cheese. Again, they wrote down the order in front of me. No order came out, said we didn't order it. So they put on another bagel . It comes out burnt. They see it's burnt. Acknowledge it's burnt as they present it. And still just leave it and walk away. A couple behind us was literally laughing at how many things went wrong with the order. I wish this had been an exception but it's not. I saw one review calling these people "idiot savants". They were half-accurate.

I don't have much of a sweet tooth, so when I went into Linda's Donuts to grab a bagel I wasn't expecting to indulge myself with one of their delectable donut varieties. They may have just changed my taste buds' opinions! The staff was helpful and patient as I made my selection, and I couldn't have been happier. Forget Dunkin's; Linda's is my go-to now!

    (5)
  • Rob C.

For $10 you can get a dozen donuts here. That sounds like kind of a lot, but it's worth remembering that even Dunkies is pretty spendy these days. But let's not talk about that. Let's talk about the couple kilos of fried heavenly goodness you get, crammed in that heavyweight, tantalizingly plain cardboard box (decorated with foreboding streaks of oil and glazing from fresh donuts). They're big. They're heavy. They're dense on the inside, frequently obtained warm, with a perfectly crisp crustiness to them on the outside. The chocolate glazed ones are the best, but you simply cannot pick a bad one. i work with vegans who make exceptions for these. Linda's will make you the office hero.

  • Leo Z.

I hate donuts, I hate donuts, I hate donuts...oh, OK, I'm LYING!!!...The people here are really nice, the regulars have always been nice to this "outsider". The coffee is really good too. Skip Dunkins and the dastardly overpriced (and pretty gross) Starbucks. So, grab a really good fresh donut and cup of joe and you will be hooked too. The only down fall is the parking which can be a challenge.

  • Claudia M.

I know, just know, that I am going to get cursed out for saying this but I just don't get it. The breakfast was below sub-par and the donuts were meh. Got to give it to them - the place is packed. In my own humble opinion - drive west and get some donuts at Ohlin's.

    (2)
  • Lisa G.

Forget Dunks and get some quality donuts! I highly recommend Linda's sugar donuts. They are melt-in-your-mouth delicious! Also, there's some decent people-watching here. The older locals are a hoot and make the trip here well-worth it.

Having been to nearly every homemade donut shop in the area, Linda's is hands down one of the best! The shop is non-descript and you could easily drive by it if you weren't paying attention; I must admit I have done so many times without realizing it. Bad donut man! Upon finally making it in my girlfriend and I were not only greeted by exceptionally friendly staff but some of the lightest and most delicious donuts in the area. The Honey dip, one of my standard measures is, without question, the lightest of its kind that I have yet tried. The Jelly was full, soft and not greasy at all. The cake crullers were soft inside with crispy crunchy, sugar coated out layers; just as they should be. The best part about it all, not only did the young staff say "please and thank you" but, when I began discussing donuts while paying the check, they asked me if I would like a few more made right on the spot. "I can do jelly or lemon crullers, which would you like?" The young man behind the counter volunteered. "Both please." I said. Unfortunately they were out of Boston Creams at the time, which means we'll just have to go back. Breakfast was very affordable and satisfying. The atmosphere was that of an old local family shop steeped in tradition and "regulars", and, the Java, though not 5 star- got the job done and will bring me back for more. I'll see you there :)

Mmmmmm, donuts. This place has brought out my inner Homer Simpson. My boyfriend and I rolled in here for a (very) late breakfast Saturday morning. The sky was blue, the sun was shining, and we were hungry. Glazed cake donut stick/twist thingy. Sweet and crispy and cakey and full of flavor. I want another one. I was savoring it in that kid-like way. Raised honey dip was light and subtle in flavor. Also delicious, but I'll come back for the cake donut. Mmmmmm, donuts.

  • David M.

Best donuts in Boston (and I've tried more places than I care to admit). Don't be fooled by the outside, the food is fantastic. CASH ONLY though. They even made some of my favorites (lemon filled) right after having run out for the morning. A must visit for a quick breakfast or to get donuts.

  • Yoonie C.

My bf loves their FLUFFY, SOFT doughnuts. I think I don't like doughnuts as much as he does. However, I enjoy the (very) old school, smalltown feel, and that they will cook you a breakfast sandwich, with a real egg, and real (processed) cheese (think Kraft singles) that melts and is oh-so-yummy on top of the hot egg. My gripe was that my English muffin was toasted super hard and black, but my bf didn't mind it.

  • Deirdre T.

Frying is a delicate art and they are experts at it. The donuts here are crispy yet not greasy, and everything tastes like real food (what an old-fashioned concept, right?). No chemicals undertones, and everything fresh. They simply could not do a better job with making donuts. I like the people who work there. They can sometimes be a little dour, but really they are kind, and pretty much salt of the earth. The coffee is only meh,

  • Sheilerama J.

Disappointed! There's a reason why the outside facade is just as jumbled as the inside. They're a mess! Performance art as customer service. The two behind the counter seemed to be related. For some reason the coffee filters were located on the other side, opposite from the coffee pot. And the guy cousin, or brother, was making more coffee while the gal cousin, or sister, was trying to box my 6 donuts. It took something on the order of 1.5 years to get them. I'd have really gotten angry if I hadn't felt as if I'd walked on set to a Boston version of Mayberry. Here's how it went down: guy cousin walked and stopped right in front of the donuts stand so that the gal cousin, or sister, would huff out. At which point he would stop and say, "What?" She would wait for him to mope to the other side and then grab one donut. Put it in the box. And then guy cousin would move right in front of the donuts stand again. Huff. What? And then mope off. Grab one donut. Rinse, repeat. OK they were busy. I totally get that. And I understand working in retail and food. I give people mad props for excellent service and excellent food, but I can't turn away when the service and food are crappy. What about the donuts? Well, I've been spoiled. You people think you know donuts? try Top Pot in Seattle. You'll never be satisfied with any other shop again. I read the Yelp reviews and was kind of prepared for Laurel & Hardy but was anticipating the donuts. I didn't find them to be that much better than DD. Certainly the cake donuts weren't anything to even finish eating. Little bit of spice? I'd say Lacking flavor, a little greasy and also stale. Crunchy. I know they can't have been stale due to how quickly everything was meandering off of the shelves. The glazed? Disappointing. Greasy. No different than DD. Chocolate glazed? My rule of thumb says if anything on a donut is shiny, it's to be shunned. I suspended this rule because of Yelp reviews, hoping for the best, but lordy, I didn't want to and could not finish anything. Me, as a kid I used to eat two chocolate bars and then eat a bag of skittles to cleanse the pallette. I gave Linda's donuts away.

So I have not stepped foot inside here but Husby brought back donuts for us all. It was very light and airy with a lovely sweetness. However, I like mine a bit denser similar to cake. The coffee was decent and did the job. I think next time I will have to go pick out my own donut.

  • Sam M.

Okay, this place is terrible. I have to use all of my self control to prevent myself from occupying one of their tables and never leaving. I have this sinful desire to sit there and eat their donuts every day for the rest of my life. The glazed donuts are as light as air and taste like heaven on earth. I only have one problem with Linda's, and that is that one just keeps eating. Three donuts, five donuts, ten, it feels like you aren't eating anything because they're so light and amazing. I also get the lemon jelly donuts which are great, especially because I don't like strawberry jelly. The old fashioned donuts are great too, but I can only eat one of them before lapsing into a blissful state of satisfaction. The Boston Cremes are great as well. I have yet to try their hot breakfasts, but I have heard that they are great. Go here.

Making a donut - is an art. Not many components, but a delicate balancing act is used to make a superior product. Linda's is the definitive version, in my book! The honey dew batter cooks up cakey, but with some crumb, and texture, with a tiny bit of spice. Not like the Wonder Bread texture that so many other places think is perfection. Nice crust reminds you of what you're really eating. Good sized too! I imagine they're using the same cutters that they used the last time the sign out front was painted, which could be during the Eisenhower administration. The coffee is OK, more of the DD variety that the stronger bucks type, but it's hot, wet, and caffeinated. And it washes down the donuts perfectly. I've had bad donuts - bad hand cut donuts, bad homemade donuts. Ones that sit in your stomach and beg for release. Come to Linda's and try what a really well made donut should be!

  • Theis C.

Grotty store, greezy-looking employees, general feeing of decay about the place. But.... but! These people are donut idiot-savants. It's like Tom Cruise has a third brother, and his special skill is making the yummiest, cripsity-crunchiest donuts anywhere. The best by far are the honeydew, which sell out almost every day before 10. Any of the other heavy cake donuts are also well worth your time and fat. They're big enough that I take them home and cut them up into 4 pieces to slow me down. My backup is generally the cinnamon sugar.

We were in the area to go to Yum Bunnies Cakery. When we got out of the car we couldn't believe what we were smelling! It is nothing short of tantalizing, and we had to go in. I never eat donuts. But I had to have one! The classic honey dip is unreal. Soft, warm, melts in your mouth good. These donuts puts other shops to shame! I LOVE Linda's donuts and it's the kind of donut that you just have to eat. My entire family is now obsessed.

I haven't been here - but my boss bought a box of these donuts for us and raved about how big of a fan he is of them - enough to drive to Belmont and back with a box of donuts before 7am on a sunday. There donuts were seriously perfection. All made fresh in small batches, despite their fatty-ness they're definitely better for you than Dunkin or some artificial chain's dough. This'll make for an excellent early morning bike trip north. (as you know, sugar, coffee, and biking go hand in hand)

OK, so donuts are BAD for you. There is no doubt about it. Your doctor, trainer and friends at the gym will all tell you this. However, one donut from Linda's will make you think the possibility of a heart attack is worth the risk. You can actually taste the delicious badness of it and will fall in love immediately. Forget Dunkins or Honey Dew; they just don't compare. Linda's makes donuts they way they were meant to be made; moist, melt in your mouth morsels of sweet goodness. Not once have I got a donut that was dry and stale. The chocolate glazed and the butter-crunch are my favourites!

This old school doughnut shop is where you might expect Fred from the Dunkin commercials to really work. If you've only been to the chain doughnut places, you need to check out Linda's to see what a doughnut made with love tastes like. You can't really go wrong with any of the doughnuts. It's always a good idea to buy a bunch... cut them up... and share with friends. While it might look boring, you need to try the honey dip... and the honey dew. I think dew is the second one. Anyway, one is light and fluffy and the other is more cake like. Really, just order the kind you like and you'll like. While I normally stick to the doughnuts, don't overlook the other food. They do breakfast and lunch and everything is really inexpensive. I've had the breakfast sandwich a couple of times and its made to order. No 30 second conveyer belt ride for these eggs. The only reason I didn't give Linda's 5 stars is the coffee. The coffee isn't bad... it's just not good. It's sort of like most diner coffee. It gets the job done but I'm not stopping on my way to work for a cup. If they changed the brand of coffee they used, I'd stop here just about every day. Oh, and bring cash to pay for your meal. Like I said, this place is old school and I hope they stay that way!

Who would a thunk it....??? I'm not a donut fan, but every once in awhile I need that sugar fix in the morning. Haven't been to Linda's if a few years as I was trying to lose a few pounds and stay away from the typical townie breakfast of two eggs and some fatty bacon etc... Anyway.. went yesterday on the way to the People Republic of Cambridge where I had an early meeting... Saw a chocolate glazed donut that was just calling my name.... OMG... heaven, you could feel your arteries throbbing in pleasure as they closed up tight! Seriously... it was a huge donut, kind of cake like, tasted like it was baked right there (not like DD's drop of the truck donuts). Just the right amount of glazing....Defnitely a taste treat. The atmosphere is definitely old world townie, but ya know what? A good donut is worth the trip!

Donut perfection! Forget the chains, get your heiny into Lindas. We had the blessing/curse of living a block away from Lindas. It was difficult not to go there EVERY weekend. The Donuts are fresh and taste home-made. Buttercrunch is my favorite, my wife swears by the jellies. Anything with cream (Boston, Bavarian) is a sure fire hit. This place is not great for your waistline, but sheer awesomeness going down your gullet. The family that runs the place always seems cranky the many many times I've gone there, but never told me "no donuts for you!"

I stop in often for coffee. Strong, fresh and tasty Beakfast sandwiches good too. I get ham egg and cheese on an English muffin, and they don't just grab ham that's sitting on the grill. They take stand cook it fresh. Takes a little longer but tastes better But the BEST part is the donuts. Traditional hand cut donuts. Just like my my grandfather used to make for thirty years in his bakery. Tasty, fluffy and yummy. I urge anyone thats used to dunkin donuts or honeydew to come here, and taste a REAL donut from a real baker.

  • Kerri O.

I may have actually had my first donut ever, here. I grew up right around the corner, and my family learned to time coming here, around when Mass let out on Sunday's. They are just as good decades later. I love the honey glazed, but I think the thing they do the best is cruellers. Honestly, if you live even remotely near here, please take the time to drive over, and skip Dunkin Donuts. It's definitely worth it. And, the coffee is better, and cheaper, too. They continually are baking, and it's doubtful that whatever you get is going to be more than an hour or so out of the oven. Just skip the muffins, as they don't sell quickly, and why would you ever go to Linda's Donuts to get a muffin? That would be like ordering BBQ at an Italian Restaraunt.

Screw Dunkin Donuts! Get your donuts HERE!! Cute, local shop with REAL FRESH donuts-- and they are DELICIOUS! (aka. very bad for you!) They are a little pricy- $10 for a dozen, and they are cash only- booo.... but I think it's totally worth it for a delicious non-dunkin-donut donut. I tried the honey dip (which is crazy light and fluffy) and the chocolate cakey one, which was soooo rich and chocolately and cakey-- soo good. I will definitely buy these again to share with all those I love!

  • Evan D.

These donuts are FRESH. I was there around 7:00AM, and I overheard the clerks talking about making more donuts before the rush. That's a good sign; it means the donuts are made fresh all day, not just before they open. The raised donuts here are the softest I have ever had. The honey dip was a little light on flavor, but the Boston Creme was, hands down, the best I have ever had.

  • Tim W.

I love donuts. LOVE THEM! And I wouldn't hesitate to put Linda's up against any donut in the area. In fact, I would much rather have a donut from Linda's than a fancy, gourmet donut in NYC that will cost three times as much. In part that's because Linda's is a real neighborhood joint, full of chattering regulars. But Linda's also brings the heat with their donuts, which are rich in flavor in addition to being sweet. If they had fancy coffee here, I'd be even more enthusiastic, but then Linda's would be a different kind of place.

  • Al G.

This place is legendary - kinda like Seinfeld's "soup nazi". Very unassuming storefront as it seems to be a hotspot for the Belmont regulars. The donuts are legnedary, but the Boston Creme is something which could be served as a dessert at a dinner party. The donuts are about as big as your head and unbelievably tasty. Boston Creme is my fav, but honey-dipped jelly filled is a close second.

Better than Dunkin's for sure and a four star as far as doughnuts go. Coffee is another business . They need to work on it.

This is my all time favorite donut, coffee breakfast on the weekends... Roll out of bed and buy cigarettes on the way out at the place two doors away kind of a place. My mouth is watering and my mind is reeling trying to think of the last time I allowed myself into this place. Usually I have to talk my dad out of going here - just cause I know we would become supremely unhealthy if that were our coffee shop at work. The ice coffee is really good. Their honey dip donuts are really good. if you want a crueler and have them actually call it by it's name instead of having to call it a "stick" or whatever DD now calls it. Go to Linda's, be nice to yourself - indulge. Brilliant stop for a breakfast sandwich, a great alternative to any other chain for an early Sunday breakfast. This is the only place I would consider going to early morning - style. I don't want to talk shit about any international houses, cause they serve their purposes when you are drunk, or hungover, but - good breakfast is a good thing to know where to find.

This place is the ultimate throwback to the old days of local businesses with unrivaled quality - you know, before Dunkies bought out your favorite donut joint. The crew of locals in their favorite booth chats up the regulars as the family works the till and fryers. It's true that they're not especially friendly or polite, but this is real Boston - not some corporate training program pumping out faux smile automatons! Real people, real donuts, no BS. I can't speak for the coffee, but the donuts are perfect: cake donuts are slightly crusted on the outside and warm on the inside; glazed are light as air; not greasy at all. One of my favorites is the marble cruller, which is hand twisted unlike those logs at Dunkies. Takes great discipline to go only once a week. Free street parking right outside, cash only ($1/donut), and one free "for the driva" if you buy a dozen and you're as cute as my wife (only when she goes alone of course)

  • Ariel E.

My sister and I have been frequenting this shop for about 3 years now. Everything (donuts, crullers, bacon/egg/cheese sandwiches) is delicious except the muffins. I think it's just a physical law: Objects at rest tend to stay at rest, the universe is expanding at a constantly accelerating rate, and there is a direct inverse correlation between the deliciousness of a shop's donuts and its muffins. The coffee is okay but not mind-blowing. But aside from the coffee and the muffins, I love this place. It's family-owned and it's open early in the morning. Early and often - just keep that in mind if you want some of those mm-good donuts.

Sadly, I used to live near Linda's donuts : I think I gained 20 pounds going there virtually every day for donuts, coffee, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, etc. The line is often well out the door. If you visit Linda's, you will be forced to either go there for the rest of your life or think about it every day of your life.

Go early or go home without any donuts! The last time we tried to go at about 11AM on a Sunday there wasn't a donut or crumb to be found. The guy in front of us literally took the last 3. Today I was still a little late (10:15 AM), but managed to score a glazed crueller, glazed donut holes, and they even filled some of the chocolate frosted donut holes with boston cream filling specially for husband since it was his birthday. The only other donuts that were left were the old-fashioned which I'd normally shun, but these were crunchy, creamy and unlike any donut I've tasted.

This easily could be best neighborhood donut shop in the greater Boston area. Check it out. Small batches of donuts are prepared each morning and they fly of the shelves during the weekend. A hearty breakfast and lunch is served. Talk to the chef and tell him what you want to have for breakfast. Special orders not a problem. - Linda's Donuts has a lunch special and the soups are tasty. - This is a really small place with friendly employees. - Counter service only - Great place for kids ( kids large and small love fresh donuts) My favorite donut here is the jelly cruller.

Love the donuts and Love the people here! Prices are good (cheap!) and I can't ask for anything more. Only cash, they ran out of donuts so easy. The best donuts I think are the honey dip and chocolate frosted. They aren't too sweet like Krispy Kreme, Also their breakfast sandwich are pretty good too, especially when in a hurry and have no time to make breakfast.

  • Corydon S.

Simple and traditional donuts, with no weird flavors combinations or outlandish shapes. These donuts remind me of the ones they had out after church when I was kid. The jelly donut I had was very good, big, and inexpensive. In my opinion the earlier you go the better, if you go after 1PM you may be out of luck. The store front is similar to the classic donuts they serve, which is fine by me.

Just discovered this place courtesy of Yelp! I think my fiance's in love. Like others have said, I would get here earlier rather than later if you want donuts. And trust me- you want donuts. They're so good- soft and doughy and sweet. We've gone the past few Saturdays and I've gotten some kind of egg breakfast and a couple of donuts to take home. Everything's cooked to order here. My fiance loves corned beef hash so this is why he wants to come here everyday if he could. The food's cheap, which is refreshing for the Boston area. The place itself is teeny tiny so you may have to wait for a table if you're eating breakfast.

Up until my coworker brought in a dozen donuts from Linda's I would have said I hate donuts. 10 minutes and 1.5 donuts later, I love them. Well to be clear, I love Linda's Donuts. They are light, fluffy and moist on the inside with a nice crunch on the outside. They have just the right amount of glaze to give them a sweet edge without becoming a sugar bomb. One bite and its clear that these were made at the crack of dawn this morning from a recipe that hasn't likely been written down for over 50 years. Best of Massachusetts, hands down!

  • Bevin C.

Linda's Sausage Egg and Cheese is retardedly good. I didn't know they got this good. They use lovely little links all sliced up instead of a patty, and the egg is perfectly set without being burnt or runny, which you just can't have with a breakfast sandwich. The guy who put it on the table in front of me also made it. He also smiled at me. The donuts are equally nuts - fantastic, fresh, tops. I imagine the quality declines steadily from early in the morning, so git yer bums out of bed. Your hangover will thank you later. Glazed is the best. But I always say that. Two times I've been to Linda's this summer, and two times there has been a grandpa sitting with his pre-teen granddaughter, who is talking extra loud and clear so he can hear her. I think these were two different grandpa/granddaughter pairs. If I were a grandpa, or a pre-teen granddaughter, I would come here to connect over a Sausage Egg & Cheese.

Okay so forget your everyday Dunkin's or Krispy Kream. These donuts are the real deal. The owners are this cute couple that wake up at 4 in the morning just to come bake their home made donuts every day. It's a family business and I love that about them. Sometimes there's even a line out the door! I remember back a couple of months ago when I pulled an all nighter and came back from the casino at 6 am. I was so hungry and Linda's was the only place open really early on the weekend. Besides their donuts, they have great coffee and breakfast choices as well. Ill never go any place beside this for donuts, EVER!

Personally, I think this place is a bit overrated. I live in the area and have been meaning to try these for a while now. So, finally, this afternoon, I made my way over to Linda's. I intended on buying a box for my family, but they only had two glazed donuts left. I purchased the last two and got a decaf coffee. The coffee was a lot better than I had expected based on other reviews. Now, the donuts definitely had a homemade quality about them in terms of the bigger size and the way they were glazed, not uniform througout. The donut was a little more cakey and denser than Dunkin's. It was very light, not oily at al - I'll give it that. However, in terms of taste, I prefer Dunkin's and Krispy Kreme. Maybe getting them when they are still hot would make a difference? I might come back again to try to get them when they are still warm. It would depend on my schedule and if I happen to be in that part of town on my way somewhere.

I used to live near here a very long time ago, but I guess I wasn't aware of this place or didn't care about donuts at that time; because I didn't visit once until last week. I was heading to Boston and wanted to check out my old 'hood and my love for donuts could not permit me to pass this place by. It has the look of a place that has been there for several generations, and to me that means a place that has survived good and bad times because they must have loyal customers who enjoy their donuts, at the very least. After circling the block looking for parking near the entrance I parked a few minutes around the corner and headed inside. There were a few patrons ahead of me, which I prefer, since it allows me time to look over the merch, check out the interior and make a decision. There are a few tables if you and/or friends would like to kick back and have coffee and donuts; but it is a very tiny space that barely allows one customer to turn around to leave after receiving their order. I quickly perused the donuts that sit on trays behind the counter - I generally go for staples and favorites - so I decided to order a honey dipped and a chocolate stick (i grew up on calling it a crueller, but now it is a stick; i think if the name was changed it should be called a twist - makes more sense and sounds appetizing). I enjoyed the honey dipped, it was good, but I have had better. I did like the texture and the size is not overwhelming; i like to indulge, but feel that sometimes donuts are sooo big that if i have a second i can't eat until dinner after a 5 mile run - and i don't run. I slowly broke off pieces of the stick, this was my all time favorite as a kid, and the texture was moist, rich and chocolaty. The exterior had a nice glaze that you feel between your teeth as you bite into the donut. There a several other varieties offered and next time I am heading that way I will stop to see what is for sale; and if I lived in the area I would rather give them my business than dunkin donuts - always prefer supporting small businesses with good/comparable products.

I get hungry just thinking about the donuts here. All of the donuts are good - even from someone like me who usually sticks with chocolate donuts at any other place. My husband loves the muffins (grilled) although I've never tried them because I'm too busy gobbling up donuts. The donuts are so fresh that you will never want to buy one anywhere else.

I have a serious weakness for donuts and these are to fucking die for! They are so fresh and tasty they melt in your mouth and you eat more and more and more and then you have to buy new pants. YUM!!!

Great place, wonderful donuts, muffins, and breakfast. I love the omelets, they come with toast, and pan fries for a very good price. I love bringing their donuts into work for everyone. They go so fast and you can never eat a dunkin's donut again after having Linda's Donuts. Bring cash and expect it can take a few minutes to get your food because they are not a chain, and not set up like those at all, but it is worth the very small wait to get the best!!!

  • Yelp Z.

I am obsessed with the butternut donuts from Linda's! I also love that they don't label any of the donuts, so you just have to guess at what they are (mostly classic flavors anyway). I live at the end of the street this shop is off of, and I can smell them in the middle of the night. NO LIE. Early morning when commuting I am forced to make a decision to be late or on time based on if I can resist the scents in the air. I've gone on weekends as well, and it's always busy but moves very fast. The same people have been working there forever and the same locals have been hanging out there forever. My grandmother used to work there in her 30's! As the saying goes, anything that's been around that long - has to be good. Once you have a fresh made donut or breakfast sandwich from Linda's, you'll be thoroughly disgusted by Dirty Dunks. Oh and this weekend when I went in there, they had a Yelp sticker on the window.

This place is a great little mom & pop shop that reminds me of the donut shop my dad used to take me to after doing my paper route as a kid. The donuts here are the real deal... especially the light, fluffy ones (like the honey dip and the chocolate frosted.) They're delicate and delicious. Make sure to get there early though. I've gone in at 10 am and there's almost nothing left. I'm deducting a star cuz the blt I had this morning wasn't too hot, and the other day I got a rather ghetto coffee (though usually the coffee is solidly average.)

  • Mark T.

Great donuts! Big, about twice the size of the usual chain places. Not greasy, nice a light. The honey jelly were awesome. Very good Boston Creme as well. They were great on the phone (I placed an order for 3 dozen). Very helpful and explained the names so I could get the order right. They were a big hit with everyone. Great place.

  • Mishy K.

I will honestly say. I have a biased opinion of Linda's. My very good friend's family owns it. But once you try this place... you will surely have the same opinion. My best days include when her cute little greek mom brings me nice still warm doughnuts. It's heaven. The Honey Dipped are so good.. But you really can't chose just one. Knowing this family personally, They truly put so much of themselves into their shop. It's not just another out of the box doughnut shop. Family owned.. and they put so much love and determination into their doughnuts.. you can feel it. These doughnuts are definitely worth every single calorie. ... But don't just take my word for it. Judge for yourselves.

If you want the best donuts around go to Linda's. They don't have a huge variety of donuts, but believe me, what they do have is nothing short of perfection. Their donuts have a light and fluffy texture with just the perfect amount of sweetness, and they don't sit in your stomach like a rock the entire day. Just don't expect to go and sit down though because there are only a couple tables and they are usually occupied.

The best donuts I've tried in the Boston area. Moist, light, delicious not greasy or dry. The place doesn't look like much from the outside but don't be fooled give them a try.

I was born and raised in Belmont, but I've never really been into any of the places along Trapelo by the Watertown border. Never been to Ranc's, only had pizza from Fiorella a handful of times, etc., etc. But today I specifically left for work 15 minutes early because something inside me told me that I had to try the donuts here. My reasoning went something like this: how could a place so decrepit-looking stay in business if they didn't offer kick-ass donuts and such? Well let me tell you, these donuts are fucking great. The chocolate honey-dip in particular is like a disc of sugary, cakey happiness. It's mostly soft and chewy, but there are also some crunchy bits of accumulated frosting. And their jelly is nothing to sneeze at either, because that would be gross and unsanitary. Small coffee and two donuts = $2.95. I gotta come here more often.

jesus i never thought to review this place. Amazing donuts, not that I eat donuts often but every few months i skip dunkin coffee on my break and head here to grab a cup of there decent coffee, though in no comparison to the mighty dunkin, but i get a coffee 2 donuts, usually a honey dip which are the best and a chocolate crueler. at 9 during the week its usually full with everyone from my union but after 930 i would imagine it quiets down. Unreal sausage egg and cheeses here too, but just keep in mind they take a few minutes to cook up.

My favorite donuts in town, they are like $0.70 or something and super fresh. Tiny place, maybe seating for 12, and usually a small line for donuts. Staff is friendly, lotta regular customers. Breakfast also looks/smells great (eggs etc).

  • chungo m.

every time I come in here there is a line and nothing left. I guess it's THAT good. I have only had the spare muffin or whatever, and it was tasty, but I wish they'd make more stuff so us late risers can grab some yummy grub!

I've been eating here on a regular basis for the past 14 years, and will continue to. Donuts; amazing, breakfasts; amazing, atmosphere; pleasently odd. There's a strong sense of community between the customers and workers.

This place does not have a freshly painted sign, red fabric awnings or yuppie twinkly christmas lights, it does have yummy and fresh donuts. The kind that are soft on the inside and a little crispy crunch on the outside. The prices are great and the place is always clean.
