This place is great for takeout! Big portions, pretty good food, quick. The combo plates come with an entire carton of just the entree. The. Another small carton of rice. And then a big egg roll. No where I've ever been to gives you that much food, for around $9! The combo rice (which comes with the combo plates upon request) is good, as is the generals chicken, lemon chicken and sweet and sour pork. The crab rangoons and cho cho appetizers are also really good.

If you are looking for that hole in the wall Chinese place that has great food, this is definitely the one! HUGE portions , very tasty stuff , cheap , yummy! You can dine-in but it is however on the lower end of looks ....(don't take your date) And the strip mall it is located in is almost in little Mexico but relatively safe. Call in orders first then pick up! Very good food! Probably the best in Metairie .

The portions are large but the food is mediocre and there was a roach on the wall. We ordered the boneless chicken and the chicken fried rice.

This is our usual takeout Chinese place. Small family owned and operated. The specialize in Cantonese style food. The egg rolls are large and prepared the classic style. The mandarin chicken is awesome as is their egg foo young. They have a few tables for dining in, but I think 90% of their is takeout. I highly recommend Young's Fortune and suggest you give it a try. BTW you know it is a family run place when the mother and father (who do the cooking) are screaming at each other in the kitchen speaking Chinese. It can be entertaining while your waiting for your order.

I have been eating at Youngs Fortune since I first discovered it back in 1995. I still think it's the best take-out in Metairie. Ms. Lynn (the owner) always recognizes me and treats me like family. I relocated 6 hours away after Katrina, and she STILL recognizes me every I come back in , which is almost every time I come back to town. Tonight I ordered 2 plates and walked out with enough food to feed a family of 6 after she gave me such generous portions!! I haven't been here in well over a year, and her face lit up when I walked in the door. "Long time no see my friend!" is why she said as soon as I walked in. She is the best and I LOVE the fried rice and eggrolls more than anything on the menu. If you have any doubts about eating here, Lose those negative thoughts now. The place does technically look like a shithole, but the food food is GREAT, prices are CHEAP, the portions are beyond HUGE, and best of all, they treat everyone like family.

HUGE PORTIONS!!! semi-okay food. got crab rangoon, egg drop soup, fried bananas, mandarin chicken, generals chicken, sweet&sour chicken, tong cho chicken. the crab rangoon and egg drop soup were not very good. the fried bananas, mandarin chicken, sweet&sour chicken, and tong cho chicken were okay but not worth going back for and helping. the generals chicken was less than okay. not a good experience overall. but then again... huge portions for a good price. =o(

This place had the best fried rice!!!! I normally get shrimp and chicken, but I got the house special, aka everything but the kitchen sink, and it was good too. Awesome serving for the price too. My husband said it reminded him of fried rice back home in NY. Two thumbs up!!!

This place is absolutely amazing. Do not let the location or the look fool you. I went here off of the reviews and tried it. It is a little ways from my house but that doesn't matter. I will drive here anytime for their food. The food is fantastic and they are very nice. I wouldn't eat in but that's just me... But I will ALWAYS order our families Chinese take out here from now on.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
