Best Cajun food and atmosphere around! I've never had a bad meal. The onion blossom is the best around! You can't go wrong with any crawfish dish. Everything is wonderful and the Cajun bands on the weekends are a nice touch. This place has been imitated but never equaled.

Good food. A lil pricey. Crawfish are delicious. I like the BBQ crabs but the boiled are also good if you prefer. You can order some of both no extra charge.

We visited DI's on a long road trip from San Francisco to New Orleans in 2012. I did some research in order to find an authentic Cajun restaurant and Roadhouse. THIS IS IT! We stayed in Jennings, LA and drove in the evening to Basile, LA which is about 30 minutes away. It was worth the drive. Terrific "down home" Cajun food, great service, and a Cajun Band with dancing. There were many locals including families enjoying themselves. If you want the whole experience go here.

This is my best friend's family's favorite Cajun restaurant. A little detour from I-10 on the way from Houston to Lafayette, Baton Rouge, and New Orleans, it's in the middle of nowhere amidst crawfish farms and rice fields. The staff is so small town and cute. Super friendly. Everything is available on the dinner menu for lunch except, unfortunately, the boiled crawfish. Fried crawfish, yes, but not boiled. On nights, they have live music and dancing and such as well - it's a pretty popular place. Our waitress told us about it (even though my best friend, who took me there, already knew) and said that they could open the sliding doors in front of the stage so we could take a look if we wanted to. We said that was okay, but I half expected to pull away the wooden "curtain" and find the Chuck E. Cheese/Showbiz Pizza robotic animals at their instruments. :P The fried crawfish was lightly crisp and addictive, as were the fried okra. The charbroiled oysters were huge (in size and in number) and came swimming, out of shell, in a lemony butter sauce with more butter to dip them in. They were so rich and there was so much of it that even with us helping, my famished friend could not finish them. A shame. Actually, none of us could finish all our food. Healthy place this is not. But for authentic no-frills country Cajun food and hospitality, this is it. And for locals' nightly entertainment, there is no other.

Great seafood. My husband got boiled crawfish and I got grilled shrimp. Both were great. The salad is just ok but everything else is wonderful. We found this place from yelp... The only problem is the address is wrong on yelp. So we drive quite a distance further than originally thought. Still a nice meal.

I've been eating at D'I's since I was 15 years old...I'm 37 now and I have to say it's still as wonderful as ever! The best alligator bites I've ever had and I've had them from many places. They Still have wonderful local Cajun bands that play on weekends and dancing and the best boiled crawfish around! This is truly a special place with a welcoming and authentic Cajun atmosphere. Many country music stars have visited and left their pictures on the wall. It's out in the middle of nowhere but very much worth the drive for anyone visiting the area or staying at the Coushatta Casino.

Feels good to fall in love, and I am in love with everything about this restaurant. You might expect a restaurant review to start with something about the food, but not this time. The friendly, family oriented staff and guests make this place #1 on my list. We're visiting from North Carolina and went to D.I.'s two nights in a row. People, Music, Food... all as good as it gets! We had boiled crawfish, fried crawfish, grilled mushrooms, blackened oysters (ummmmm!) and some kind of homemade bread that is the best I've ever had. The food was delicious. The service was great. The entertainment (live Cajun bands and dancing) was what brought us here and it was just what I'd hoped it would be. But it was the friendly family oriented people that made this a mountain-top experience. Sherry, Brenda, Dee, Briggs, and the rest... I will never forget you! Thank you Thank you Thank you!

Excellent. As a native Louisianian living in California, I'm always anxious to come home to LA for seafood. My dad knew about DI's. The crawfish étouffée was very good. My family also enjoyed the oyster po-boy and fish po-boy and fried okra. Service was friendly and timely. I heartily recommend if you find yourself anywhere near this part of Cajun Country.

What I like about DI's is the music and dancing. I've only been there once and while the music and dancing was good, it wasn't good enough to make me like the two-hour experience trying to get a hamburger. The waitress took our drink order and then disappeared before we could say "We're ready to order food too." Once she came back with drinks she took the appetizer order and left again in a big hurry. We finally got to order our food and then after waiting an hour for it we told her we just wanted the check and we would just grab fast-food since they were so slow. Almost immediately a person I can only assume was the manager came over to lecture the table about how their food is cooked fresh and they are busy, etc ... (in other words, THEIR problem with planning is MY problem). She had our food with her and by that point we were so hungry we ate it in about 5 minutes and left. Everyone was shocked at having to sit through this long lecture and pointed out to her that every table around us had come in, ordered, eaten and left already. One final thought - the slow service prompted me to try several drinks from the bar just to pass the time. It was annoying that our waitress couldn't tell me what types of rum or gin they served. Slow with lousy service. I won't be back.

I was on vacation in Louisiana and decided to try DI's after hearing great things about it. It is located in a farming area and not much else out there. We wanted to go and listen to the live cajun music and enjoy crawfish. We made reservations the day before and had seats right next to the stage. We arrived and our table was ready and we were seated immediately. Waitress was right there to take our orders. We started with the Veggie Basket, which was fried okra, squash, broccoli, and mushrooms. Also, we had the Stuffed Jalapenos. They were 4 peppers stuffed with shrimp and deep fried. Both were pretty good. I had the 5 pound platter of boiled crawfish. I think they were around $4.50 a pound. If you want corn, potatoes, etc, you pay extra...Corn: $ .60 Potato: $ 1.00 Onions: $ .75 Mushroom: $ .75. The crawfish were huge and well seasoned. Overall this place was excellent. The combination of the live music and food made it great. We will be going back to DI's. I lived an hour from this place for 10 years and never went.

This place is why I come to Louisiana. 5 lbs of crawfish, live cajun music, and in the middle of nowhere. My family was kind enough to take me to this place a second visit and I brought my immediate family with me this time. Took us forty minutes to get there but worth every second. Watching my sister and sister-in-law navigate their huge piles of crawfish made it even better. I can't wait for another visit.

Now this is a place worth finding! I had flown into SETX to see a girl I'd met online, she liked me and I liked her, so we had our first big date in this part of Louisiana. I'd read about D.I.'s, so I said, "Hey, let's go there." Then I thought I got lost trying to find the place. It was night, we were on 97, there was *nothing* out there, we were hungry, and I thought "man, she's not gonna think much of me now." And then, there it was: a bigger-than-normal restaurant set a little ways from the road, and the gravel parking lot was PACKED with cars and trucks. If you're there on the weekend, this is not just a place to eat. It's big and loud (as are many of the patrons), with lots of food at a reasonable price. Live Cajun music, and lots of people of all ages on the dance floor. If your idea of a date night is to eat fantastic food (I think I had alligator) and sweat it all off to top-notch music, then this is the place. If you want authentic atmosphere, then this is also the place. Some day I'll get back there . . . with that same girl . . . she and I have been married over six years now . . . maybe this time she'll dance with me . . .

DI's restaurant is five miles from nowhere, a huge restaurant set in the middle of their own crawfish farm. Not surprisingly, they have the best crawfish I have ever tasted. There are no reservations, so there can be a wait. Usually, there is a cajun band for dancing. But on the night we visited there was the traditional cajun Mardi Gras chicken run. Was further off I-10 then map says by like 6-8 miles. Called ahead of time to make sure they were open. Pulled up at 4:30 on Saturday afternoon was aloud to sit at our table but was told they did not actually open until 5. So we were walked around and ignored by several women setting tables and folding napkins, yet there was a table in there with people eating already. At ten to five we were asked finally if anybody had waited on us. So we got our drinks and ordered our food by 5. My husband got the stuff Flounder and said it was bland and taste like it was frozen not fresh. My corn and crawfish chowder was very bland for being Cajun food. Has to be the worst Cajun food we have ever eaten. Only good thing I can say was that the boiled crawfish are huge and were really good. As the locals started coming in we noticed everyone was mainly having the crawfish, lol. Will not go back!!
