Always enjoy this location since it is close to home. Love the two for one stiff drinks! Stopped in with my 16yo son after a day of hunting for a job for him ..... he had never had a Ruben...loved it and states is now his favorite sandwich even over a hamburger! I had a ruben as well. Great Krauthammer touch too much butter on bread, but otherwise near perfect. I had the Kale as a side...was shocked that it actually had salt (mayne just a smidge too much) and flavoring..even a slight pepper after bite. Cooked with teal meat..by far the best restaurant greens i habe had in this town. We each could only eat half our sandwichs and look forward to the rest for dinner. Service was great..waterglass was never empty..who walked by filled it - i.e. the staff worked well amd supported one another. Two sandwiches, sides and a beer for me..only $24. Well worth a 25% tip!

Dropped by for a quick, light lunch. I had the tomato basil chicken soup. I expected a bisque-like version, but it turned out to be a hearty, chunky soup with veggies and good-sized pieces of chicken. Two corn sticks were included. My daughter had their chicken salad sandwich with avocado, lettuce and tomato on wheat. She raved about the chicken salad, which was simply prepared with mayo, celery and onions, so I had a taste and have to say it was quite good. Alongside the sandwich was the side of her choice, fried green tomatoes. I couldn't resist grabbing one off the top of the hefty pile of these hot, crisp delights. A little hot sauce gave them some additional wow. I can't tell you how long it had been since I'd been to any of the Ramsey's. I do recall however, a too big, to rich Hot Brown, a dish that I loved once upon a time. We sat outside, because my daughter brought her dog. Without even asking, the manager brought out a large bowl of water for him. That got them the extra star!

I love Ramsey's. I've never been disappointed with their food. And the fact they stay busy should confirm its success. I love their steak. Recently I seen a change in their menu. They removed the sirloin and replaced it with beef filet. It may take some time to prepare it but worth the wait. And their bean soup is great too.

This was a great restaurant. Very nice, southern food. My favorite part was that on the menu, there was a sticker that said 'allergen and gluten free'. I have many food allergies and it was really nice to have the option. & the food was really good!! The service was a bit slow, but not too bad. The waiters and waitresses were fantastic. Over all, I had a good experience here and would recommend to anyone.

One of the best $10 breakfasts you can buy. Just keep saying "yes" when they ask if you want eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, pancakes, etc. The burger was huge and the service was friendly and quick.

When in Kentucky (Lexington, in particular) being outside of Mint Julep season and horses dislike running in the snow, what better excuse than to figure out what else abounds here besides the wealth of collegiate taverns (go Blue and White) and fried pies. Of course first one has to be able to find this place, which happens to sit on the corner of the mall between the Subway (which has a very bright sign) and the Fitness Gym (with an equally bright sign and 2 stories worth of workout space). Silently waiting with its full bar and smells of BBQ, frying and Missy pies...Ramsey's lies shushed behind a simple storm door, and a small sign that says, basically, yes we're open. Get in here and eat. Now how someone actually manages to go into the neighboring sub store for a 6-inch italian combo, when there's chicken fried steaks awaitin' next door, I'll never know. Chicken (fried that is) 2 large 6 oz. breast meat slabs with seasoned flour dredging. 3 sides? I picked 5. Pickled beets (homespun), deep-fried corn on the cob with parmesan cheese (now there's an idea - slather that with mayo and chile with lemon and you have the makings of a meal unto one.), okra with tomatoes and corn (done quite lightly compared with the overly stewed versions found most laces - very fresh tasting), fried green tomatoes (pepper floured lightly and crisp and perky as they come), and baked acorn squash (one of 3 extra changing daily veggie selections - done deal). The little cup by the chicken is the country gravy, which is thick enough to consider mashed potatoes, but it's almost spreadable chicken drippings in a cream sauce form). And the usual complement of iron skillet corn bread (done as the half cobette style versions). All standards, pretty much, and all done very properly for not a lot of price. But what makes this place that extra star worth is the service and the atmosphere. If you happen to run into server Salina one evening, and you can't help but smile. That there's one positively perky server who knows her stuff! Missy pies are a must, even if you have to pack yours to-go, 'cause you're stuffed. On a less filling evening, I might have gone for that peanut butter and brownie "combo" pie, but instead had the buttery and touched with bourbon pecan. It's all done right.

This is as close to home food as I have found in Central KY. I come from S.E. KY and food a focal point of all things - gatherings to Love. First let me say that the staff has always been very friendly and helpful. Last night I stopped in after I was able to get away from work. It was 10:30P and they close at 11P. Most places are closing down the kitchen at this time and will treat you very rudely at this time. I had a bed craving for anything from this place. I stopped in and was treated fantastically by the hostess/waitress and bartender (I just grabbed a seat at the bar). She kept going about doing a few shutdown things but treated me like I was the only customer there. Another guy came in after me and was treated the same way. I felt welcome and not as if I was a bother. Some female bartender deserves a PR raise. I love everything that I have ever gotten here. I am not a vegetarian but one of my favorite things here is the vegetable plate. The fried green tomatoes and creamed corn are my favorite items. The tomatoes are fixed just like home with a slightly sweet (not to much) cornmeal batter that just coats the perfectly cut tomato slices. To much batter or flour batter is disgusting and some horrible thing from the depths of a wierd chinese hell. The creamed corn taste like it was just cut off the cob and fried with a little sugar, salt, pepper, and a rightous amount of butter. As for meats, just tried the Pot Roast last night and it was great! The beef is cooked to a perfect level of tenderness with carrots. The flavors fill up your mouth and more flavor burst forth with every chew. Ahhhhh, never mind. The catfish is consistently good and never has that "fishy" taste or smell so you don't feel like your on a date that you need to get away from. The burgers are always cooked perfectly to order (medium for me). The cornbread sticks are true cornbread that dosen't have sugar or at least not enough to taste. If I want cornmeal cake I'll first prep myself first by using a feral cat to rupture my spleen. Sugar in cornmeal is some disgusting Northern practice. The servings are large and we almost always have leftovers. Unfortunately, we haven't had room for dessert yet. Big plus, they have a small full service bar which means that you can have a nice mixed drink or shot to start your meal. They have nightly drink specials, great food, inviting atmosphere, and better staff. Whats not to like?

Have only eaten here once, but the food was overly salty. I expected much more from this Lexington staple. Even the salt was overly salty ... ok, I exaggerate, but you get the idea. The service was great and the pies are amazing ... skip the meal, get the dessert.

True Kentucky diner and a staple for Lexingtonians. Super causal but always great food. Their seasonal veggies are always a must, and if you have space to indulge in dessert, make sure to grab a piece of Missy's pie.

Great lunch. Cheesy hot brown is my favorite. Love the vegetables- kale greens, fried green tomatoes, fried corn, and sautéed spinach. Hard to beat this place for home cooking. The pies are fantastic. Very good price performer with quality, quantity, and friendly service.

The 2-for-1 happy hour is great! 4-7 daily I belive. Wonderful way to unwind after work. The food is a little heavy on the fat and fried side for me but it sure is good. The salads are my hook though. Big, huge helpings. Fresh tomatoes and other veggies. Delicious homemade ranch dressing that is so good. The buffalo chicken salad is to die for with the ranch. All salads come with fresh sliced boiled eggs too. A nice touch that I look forward to.

as always, great food and friendly service. This is always a go to stop when we are visiting family in Ky.

This location is always packed and busy, but the service is good and you can usually get in and out quick unless you are just enjoying the atmosphere. I had the buffalo chicken breast plate with a side salad, kale greens and fries. The buffalo has a great flavor. The missy pies are awesome although I didn't have room to partake in that last night. I love the pecan pie. They have an awesome breakfast meal too on the weekends. The only downfall I've had is the Mac n cheese needs to be worked on. It's got a lumpy or gritty texture. Perhaps they only use a white cheddar cheese or something? My 5 year old got it with her meal and she said it was yucky so I tasted it and she was right . It wasn't good. Maybe it wasn't mommy's Mac n cheese! :-) that has been the only food item I've ever had any issue with, but I won't let it ruin the rest of the items I've had there.

Always have the Best Service in town! I have had the most accommodating waitresses. The food is comforting home style old southern dishes. Makes me homesick..... Crispy golden fried chicken and catfish. You cant get another country fried steak in town that even comes close. Oh hush my mouth!!!! Yes it is good food just bring an appetite!!!

I love this place. Home cooked food at its finest. Completely unpretentious and low key. Big portions and priced great.

This is one good diner. The catfish sandwich I had was a whale. I got the cajun fried. Just the right spice level. Not overwhelming in the least. The gf had an open face turkey sandwich. It was enormous also. Good quality Turkey over a bed of mashed potatoes on a piece of toast. I look forward to trying some of the other menu items. I watched a parade of awesome plates flow past me as I ate my yummy catfish. Good job here!

I have to say I love a good Ramsey's Diner. They are a southern comfort foods type of place. Their missed matched tables and chairs make this place a perfect casual atmosphere. They always have great service and wonderful food. As I had said before they are famous for their comfort foods. Fried green tomatoes, hot browns, yogurt chicken, and corn fritters are just a few of the southern treats you can find on their menu here. They also have healthy menu options as well. They are very well priced and huge portions. It is a place you can take out of town friends/family or just your own family for that matter. They also have a full bar.

The food is good and the drinks are better. Happy hour is the time to go. However, I'm not sure where they dug up their new manager Jason. Generally when you hire, you look for someone who can display an ounce of customer service. He never touched our table but seeing how he interacts with the customers and his employees is enough to get me to visit another location.

Arrived well after 9PM on a Sunday night, tired & hungry after a long drive to Lexington. We went to Ramsey's because of favorable online reviews and to this particular one because it was near our lodging for the night. We had expected an inviting diner-style atmosphere also based on the reviews. Instead what we found was a dimly-lighted sports bar atmosphere with perhaps 10 customers. We entered and lingered near the door about 2 minutes without being greeted by any employees... in fact, I saw no employees behind the bar nor about the dining area. The restaurant felt warm and stuffy as well... complete with the shabby temporary "winter entrance" looking tattered at the front main entrance to the restaurant. Without further ado, we left Ramsey's likely never to return to any Ramsey location. Resorted to the Garmin selections nearby and picked one we knew we could count on to be acceptable & well-lighted enough to see our food. Thank you, Garmin! you did GOOD!

Wow! We stopped in here on a road trip, just wanting a quick meal. Absolutely delicious! Fresh asparagus that tasted like they picked it that day, yummy chicken salad, fried catfish and sweet pickled beets. Yum yum! Oh yeah, pecan pie, like mama used to make!

  • Maggie T.

Standard southern food. Their breakfast is really wonderful- their Ramsey breakfast is HUGE. Delicious. The buffalo chicken is good and has a kick. They have a patio, but depending on what time you get there, there's a wait, especially for the game or on weekends. They have shuttles to the games, too. Be sure to order a Missy's Pie- the MayDay (AKA Derby) and peanut butter are my favorite.

  • Tim H.

Try the veggie plate in the summertime. All their veggies are grown locally then.

    (4)
  • Dennis W.

Great southern style food. The vegetables are fresh and delicious. The portion sizes are quite big. If you can find the room, try one of Missy's Pies - they're fantastic! Downside: the wait staff can be hit or miss and if you go during normal dinner time you may have to wait a bit for a table.

Went here on a recommendation. I love a good diner, but my first impression was that this place is in desperate need of a visit from Robert Irvine. It was dirty, run down, drab and gross. Afraid to see what the kitchen looks like. The servers were very friendly. Our food was hit and miss. My pot roast was very good, but the portion was small. My husband's Buffalo chicken was also very good. My key lime pie was excellent. My husband had the coconut cream pie. It had meringue on it, which just isn't right. The mac and cheese tasted like Velveeta, nothing like home made, which should be oven baked- brown and bubbly on top. The corn bread was as dry as the desert. Thought southerners should know how to make corn bread. The corn oysters had potential, but were greasy and devoid of seasoning. Same for the apple fritter...greasy and in need of some flavor. Maybe a sprinkle of cinnamon sugar before frying? The fries were frozen crinkle cuts. C'mon people!! How hard is it to make a REAL French fry out of a REAL potato? So disappointing. All in all, I don't know if I would go back. It wasn't that great, other than the service and my pie.

If you want great southern food with honest ingredients - this is your place. You can't be in a hurry if you come here, because everything is made from scratch. And that K.t. W person went to a restaurant that is totally not suited for her. I mean, who in their right mind would go to Ramsey's if they like raw veggies and plain boring meat? Seriously. It's SOUTHERN FOOD. Don't you know what that is? Hell, I'm from Colorado and I knew what I was getting into. Reality check! ANYHOW - ignore her review. She doesn't know what she's talking about. They have the most AMAZING hot brown here. It's a giant plate of heaven...or a heart attack...or both. But hey, everything in moderation, right?!? Try the fried green tomatoes, they're delicious too. Their drinks are really good as well, and they usually have good drink specials. Try the sweet tea vodka and homemade lemonade. It's delicious. The homemade lemonade is what makes it so good. I only went there a few times while I lived in Lexington, because it's not very calorie-conscious...but always took my friends and family who visited there because it's a true Southern experience. Enjoy!!!

We had quite a bit of a wait, but once we were seated our server was so bubbly and cheerful! I had to take my Mom here for the hot brown, i warned her about the amount of cheese..and she didnt like it! hah! It's not for everyone though. I very much enjoyed my food. I love the fresh veggies and sides. We had a few drinks, very reasonable. This is my go to for local, good southern type cooking!

  • Brandon V.

The best southern food you will find anywhere. Pretty consistent service as well. I definitely miss this place in Chicago, so I try to hit it up each visit I make to Lexington. The chicken sandwich and meatloaf are my favorites, but nearly everything I've had and seen here look awesome. The mac and cheese is also a winner.

Words cannot express how much I love this place... I can't decide what I like the best... Everything is delicious... and the pie... oh, the pie... If I could eat here every day, I wouldn't mind weighing a million pounds.

  • C D.

I've eaten here many times in the past few months. The majority of my experiences here have been great, with only a few minor annoyances. Service: The servers at this location have always been very friendly and attentive. However, I've noticed that it takes unusually long for the check and change to be brought out, regardless of how busy they are. Food: The food is always wonderful here. It's pretty traditional and is reasonably priced for the most part.

  • Kaci N.

This place was ok in my book. Service was good, place was very casual with a full bar. I had the chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and corn fritters. The CSF was large and tasty. The sides could use some help. Mashed potatoes were ok but didn't have that super creamy homemade taste like I was expecting. Mac and cheese also left something to be desired. Corn fritters were just weird, kinda tasted like corn pancakes. I wouldn't mind going here again it just wouldn't be my 1st choice.

  • Kimble M.

Mmmm...Good Southern food, most definitely worth the heart attack in 20 years. I came here multiple times as a vegetarian living in the meat-friendly state of Kentucky and enjoyed it as least as much as my meat-a-tarian friends. Each trip brings a rotating array of southern vegetables deep fried, drenched in butter or covered in cheese as required. Additionally, this was one of the few places to get the infamous hot brown, veggie style. The flavors of everything were comforting and best washed down with sweet tea.

  • Jim W.

Food - excellent Price - average Service - excellent Noise - loud Parking - average Location - average Went to this place on a Friday night with a few friends. It was crowded but we were seated fairly quickly. Our server was very nice, helpful, and appeasing. It was a bit loud but that is the atmosphere of a place like Ramsey's. Very good southern food. Their fried green tomatoes are good. I had the hot brown and it was very delicious. My gf had the Reuben, which was great. We recommend asking for grape jelly to go with the sandwich as well. Our other friend enjoyed the BBQ grilled chicken sandwich. Overall, we would definitely go there again, but perhaps with a bigger group of people to better fit into the family-style, down home atmosphere.

I was staring at the photo of the catfish on here for the past few days and realized I had to try it. I order it Cajun fried, which was spicy and delicious! For sides, I settled on stewed tomatoes (unexpected kick, tasty), fried green tomatoes (perfect), and kale greens (slightly fluffy, not drenched in liquid - hard to get this way). I also inquired as to what a "corn oyster" is... Which is apparently a hush puppy with corn in it. They actually threw a couple on the plate for me, just because I asked. Honestly, they were probably the most interesting hush puppy I've ever had.. Crispy on the outside, nice moist and sweet on the inside. My wife ordered the buffalo chicken salad, which was enormous. I'm pretty sure they chopped up one entire good-sized tomato just to put on that salad... Which is unfortunate, as she isn't a huge tomato fan. Still, I would have been a bit jealous if it weren't for what I got to eat. Definitely a good choice!

  • Jenny H.

I liked this place, but my boyfriend wasn't too into it. I got the hot brown - which was completely blanketed in cheese and gravy, which though was amazing. I also love their fried green tomatoes. I forget what my boyfriend got, but he was especially impressed. I have also gotten the bbq chicken sandwich before, and it was just okay, not great. Anyhow, I always think of this place when I'm considering somewhere to take people from out of town to try out the hot brown. Service was good, atmosphere okay.

That bitch K.t. W. has no idea what she's talking about. ;) Ramsey's Diner is THE AWESOME. Look, you're in Kentucky, and Kentucky isn't known for its healthy cuisine or eating veggies that aren't cooked to piss or deep fried. When you walk into a Southern comfort diner expect the following: fried everything. cheese. biscuits. gravy. and some more cheese. I asked a bunch of people about where to find the best HOT BROWN in Lexington and they all told me to go to Ramsey's. Ok, so I ordered a Kentucky Hot Brown. That thing nearly destroyed me but it was so evilly delicious at the same time. I couldn't stop eating it, I just couldn't. It's this massive pile of bacon, ham, tomatoes, white gravy and cheese piled onto a single pieces of toast making it an "open face" sandwich when it's a damn lie. That is no sandwich when you a trough to keep the cheese from oozing off the plate and you can only eat it with a fork. Shit, even a spoon would have been appropriate. The fried green 'maters were delicious too. If I were in the mood for a heart attack I would have ordered one of everything that was fried on the menu because it all looked good. When I come back to visit my family I'll be eating here again. You'll know it's me because I'll be the weirdo counting out a 1000 push ups and jumping jacks in the parking lot after I eat. ;) Also, as a side note: When you look at the menu, make sure you take a look at the "veggies" section and have a laugh. OH SOUTHERNERS, YOU GUYS ARE FUNNY!

    (4)
  • K.t. W.

The only reason this got 2 stars is cause I gotta be honest- NOT my kind of food here at all :/ I loved the atmosphere and the prices were fairly reasonable. Very friendly service but very very slow. I'm more of a raw veggies and meats without a lot of sauce...so the fact that everything on the menu was basically grease grease and more grease made it hard for me to enjoy the food. Even the omelet (which was typical diner fare) was very greasy. My friend got fried green tomatoes, which were good, but I really don't like fried food. She also got a Kentucky Hot Brown which I guess is supposed to be a Kentucky tradition. Well that's all very well and good but I felt like someone had punched me in the stomach with a giant grease ball after finishing it. Seriously I felt sick to my stomach for a good hour or two afterwards. So...if greasy southern cooking is your thing...definitely check this place out. If you like healthy food this is the opposite of what you want.

I went there by myself, to grab a drink and a bite to eat. I thought it would a hole-in-the-wall dive kind of place. However I was pleasantly surprised. It had that "dive" feel, but very classy, quaint, and quiet. The food was good (and freshly made), the service was great, and I also loved the music they played. I'll be here alot!

Ramsey's is a local favorite. Don't be afraid of the crowds - service is quick and efficient. We have to stop by at least once a week for their Turkey Ruben, which is topped with a red braised cabbage - perfect flavor! I always get their veggie plate - choice of four different (fresh cooked) veggies - the okra, tomatoe and corn medley is one of my favorite - along with the squash and onions - YUM! The fried green tomatoes are also the best in Lexington! They cook everythinf FRESH - so it's not over-cooked or mushy. The chicken livers are also done right - crispy, not greasy, and served with a side of white gravy to dip them in...and did I mention the LARGE portions? You're not going to go home hungary! The prices are HALF that of some of the other "high end" restaurants in the area, that don't come close to Ramsey's quality, service, and flavor!

  • Matt R.

When I'm back in KY this is one of my family's all-time favorite meeting places. The food is great and the sides are excellent - good veggies, maters, cottage cheese, fried maters, you name it and it's all good, and it tastes like REAL food, like a REAL person made it. The hot brown is huge and as good as any other I've ever had, and the service is friendly and attentive. I *love* this place and I consider myself a regular even though I'm only in KY a few times a year. Great stuff.

My Mom lives down the street and we go to Ramsey's every time we're in town. I really like the food and the choices. I'm a fan of the meatloaf and sides. The veggie-only plate is a great choice as well. They have a 'drink of the day' at the bar.

  • K R.

I finally had meat and 3!!! We had some fried banana peppers as starters and that was pretty good. I ordered steak but barely touched it as I was busy eating my sides! I love cottage cheese and tomatoes and fried green tomatoes and just plain love tomatoes overall! Delish! I had a slice of the MayDay pie to go. There was no way I could fit any more food in my tummy but I HAD to get some pie!

Upon arriving for my first time in Lexington, we promptly went here on a recommendation. Since this one is very unimpressively placed at the end of a strip mall, I didn't have high expectations. But Ramsey's successfully delivered a tasty, hometown, middle america kind of experience. It took a while to get the food out to us. Thankfully my order was greater than the sum of its parts. The okra was subpar, honey mustard carrots actually good (I wasn't sure what to expect), catfish tasty, and hush puppies the best evar! We sat on the "patio," which here means side walk next to the parking lot. So, not exciting. The staff was not very attentive, maybe because we were outside. We also switched waitresses mid-meal, which always throws a kink in things. They were very helpful though. My sister in law brought their new baby daughter, and the staff were very tolerant and thoughtful when it came to the baby stuff. Like some people have mentioned, Ramsey's serves comfort food and I felt satisfied for sure. Recommend.

Got the hot brown, did not like it. In addition the fried green tomatoes were soggy and tasteless. Overall a mediocre experience. Would not go back.

So I just love this place. The food is always good, reasonable price, always busy, attentive servers... We always go here at least once while in town, if not more. There's very little vegan fair, but vegetarians can always try a hot brown, or some all day breakfast- or veggie plate ( just watch out cos some veggies are not vegetarian~ read bacon fat). Anyways the southern catfish is just about the most awesome thing ever, I get the sandwich most times, as the dinner just comes with more vegetables sides. Gotta love the fried green tomatoes and apple fritters. Yum yum = Ramsey's

I will try to list my top favorites, but there is Nothing bad about Ramsey's!: fried green tomatoes, buffalo chicken salad, house dressing, big breakfast, 2 for 1 Bloody Mary's, hot brown, and mac n cheese. We eat in or carryout @ Ramsey's every time we visit Lexington, KY.

  • David S.

I do like this place. All of the food is good it's just not that good. The whole city if Lexington seems to be in love with this growing restaurant. I guess I'm just immune to it's southern charm. The staff seems uneducated (I mean that the best way possible). They are quick with their service and friendly. It's always been crowded my times there, an indication that people like it, but maybe I'm just too northern to stay. I'm glad I went, but I see no reason to go back.

I love the cajun fried catfish! With okra corn & tomatoes, & coleslaw! The breakfast is awesome and cheap and I love that the bartender is slingin pancakes! (At least at the downtown location) And the mayday pie and a cup of coffee is a trip in itself!

Southern food and good service make for a good restaurant. They were able to seat our party of six quickly and our waitress was quick and attentive. She also did a great job of keeping our diet coke and tea glasses full. In terms of the food, everyone ordered from the lunch menu. The fried chicken sandwich was hot and fresh tasting. Two in my party got the "hot brown" and seemed to enjoy it. The prices are decent with a meal costing about $10 with the drink. Ramsey's is a reliable Lexington staple

The food was amazing! Everything we got from catfish to dumplings to the cherry pie at the end were good enough that I couldn't imagine what anyone could do to improve on it. Really top notch. Atmosphere and service were good and what you'd expect from a place in this price range.

To be fair, we went around 9pm on a Saturday night. Overall, the food was average, environment was welcoming, waitress was attentive, and value was decent. First, the food. Number one, I don't know what I want to drink just as I'm sitting down, please give me a chance to sit and look at the menu. Number two, the food came really quick. As we read in other reviews, the food was bland, although it was comfort food. Salad was crisp, yet nothing special, just iceberg lettuce and dressing. Cornbread was shaped like mini corn on cob, but dry, cold, and tasteless. Good, fresh cornbread seems to be challenging for restaurants in general, but for a restaurant which boasts Southern comfort food it is a must. Mashed potatoes were also bland, but could be improved with butter, salt and pepper. Apple fritters were basically apple slices dipped in batter and fried. They were served very hot and were pretty good with some sugar sprinkled on top. Cinnamon would be a great addition. Corn on the cob was fresh and hot, definitely in season. A couple more vegetarian options would be appreciated in this day and age, even vegetarians enjoy Southern cooking. Open faced pot roast sandwich for the meat-eater was a little scary looking, basically a mountain'o'gravy. Digging in, we found pot roast, mashed potatoes, carrots, and white bread. Definitely filling, warm comfort food. All of this had to be followed by some infamous Missy's pie. Hard to decide among the many options of fruit, chocolate, cream, and meringue pies and even cheesecake, but we finally decided to go with the Combination pie (part peanut butter pie, part chocolate brownie). How did they know we wouldn't be able to decide? Very rich, decadent chocolate brownie, creamy melt-in-your-mouth whipped peanut butter. A great combo, however the pie crust under the brownie seemed unnecessary and had way too much Crisco. Walked away with two full bellies and leftover pie for $30, a good value. It was a comfortable casual setting, one in which you will be welcomed whether wearing a suit or shorts and flip-flops. Fun local memorabilia on the walls and plenty of seating. Waitress and hostess were very friendly and attentive. A pretty good experience overall, although the panhandling and fast cars whipping through the parking lot made us think we'll go to another location if we visit Ramsey's again.
