I am loving the Ruben Wrap right now which makes it hard to go back to all the other stuff I love. Great, friendly service. A lot of food for what you pay. A great place for a family to eat. The lattes are delicious.

The pulled pork and brisket sandwiches were excellent with both sandwichs being more about the meat than the smoke. I asked where they bought the meat and was told it was raised by the owners of the place. WOW can you be anymore of a local resources supporter. I had the coleslaw and while it was ok it was not the kind I like to go with my pulled pork sandwich. Prices were reasonable and service was affable. If I ever pass through Meade KS. again I would most diffenitely stop to eat here.

Excellent food at an incredible value! My husband was lucky enough to get ribs they had left on sale. That was the most ribs we'd ever been served and he orders ribs often. I had the southwest chicken salad and it was tasty. Chicken was a little dry but you couldn't tell with the mixture in the salad and dressing. Kids had quesadillas that were tasty and cornbread. Husband said the ribs were the best ever and just fell off the bone! Bathroom was the only negative- sticky floor and dirty trim by floor. Great they had a changing table for our one year old though! Would eat here again!

What a jem of a find in the land of Dorthy and Toto. Boyfriend is a LHD and we saw BBQ and said hey can't find good BBQ in Sac so lets. WAHOOOOO! The brisket and seasoned fries are etched on my brain and the pull pork is still a conversation piece. Honest good and will be back. Thank you

We stopped by here after visiting the Dalton Gang hideout on the way home and we were very happy with the quality of the food! I got the BBQ brisket sandwich with a side of potato salad and my husband got the BBQ brisket with onions on Texas toast, also with a side of potato salad. Everything was delicious, tender meat, sweet n sour BBQ sauce, toasted bread; the potato salad was classic yellow, not too much mustard, which sometimes happens, and perfectly soft but not mushy potatoes. Place seemed clean enough, bathrooms were also clean. I would definitely eat here again!

Hygiene Alert!!!! As I was eating my food at the table. I witnessed the young lady taking orders and preparing the food wipe her nose with her hand twice!!! No attempt was made to wash her hands or even disguise her wiping her nose!!! Then to my utter dismay a second young lady comes in from outside . I assume getting back from break and immediately starts making a latte without a thought of soap and water touching her hands! DISGUSTING!!! Needless to say I said some extra prayers over my food and hope not to get sick. My advice. Bring your own hand sanitizer and make the employees use it!!

What a great find! We were driving thru Meade on our way to NM & stopped for lunch. The counter person was friendly & helpful. We ordered the Reuben made with beef brisket & a pulled pork sandwich. Both were excellent, but the pork could've used just a wee bit more smoke. The bun with the pulled pork sandwich was the best I've had in a long time. The place is small, spotlessly clean & inexpensive. If this were on a major highway or in an urban setting, I'm sure people would be lined up out the door.

We have driven by Smokehoss several times on our trips back and forth between Wichita and Albuquerque. Today we decided to stop- so glad we did! I was impressed with how well decorated the place was- for a BBQ joint in Meade I didn't expect the modern touches. Then the food (we had pork and brisket) was excellent- so moist without being greasy! JR, the owner, came out and visited with us a few times. It was a quick, and excellent stop. I recommend it to any one passing through and for you lucky locals- you have a gem in your own backyard!!

Stopped by a passing through and loved what I had. It was shortly before closing and I had low expectations. Ordered their brisket, it was tender, well flavored, and piping hot. I ordered the wrap - super good! Their fries were wonderful. Crispy, hot, wonderful flavor - loved them! Only thing I'd rate them down a bit for is their sauce. It was a bit too "KC Masterpiece"ish for me. Pretty sweet. Nothing wrong, just a personal preference.

We just stopped at smoke hoss on way home to Phoenix. I had their ribs for the first time and as usual they are fabulous. We stop every time we go back to Kansas City. Smoke Hoss makes the drive through kS bearable. :-D!!!!

I was passing through here on my way to KC from LA and dropped by for some lunch before hitting the road for another 8 hours. This place isn't terrible for being in the middle of what seems like nowhere, but it wasn't super amazing either. Their fries were alright, and the French Dip sandwich was acceptable. However, their swiss burger seemed off. It just mostly tasted like a mechanically separated beef patty blended with pork, and took on the flavor and consistency of a hotdog. I'm not quite sure what was happening but I wasn't enjoying my meal as much as I wanted to. If I pass by this area and stop by for food I'll just try to avoid their burgers I guess? I'm not sure it left an awesome impression on me. Despite their questionable burgers, their service was actually very good. I also got caught in a really lame speed trap on my way out of Meade and got a ticket for going ten over. Ugh, I already greatly dislike you, Meade Kansas. Thanks for that.

Nice stop in the middle of nowhere. The food is good, though it seemed like the barbecue was reheated in a microwave. Nice decor, clean. Good coffee and tea, but odd hours for a coffee shop (11-8).

They are so good I don't even believe it. Who would have thought you find amazing bbq AND a cute coffee shop AND be in a town that isn't a nightmare with hipster traffic? LOVE SMOKE HOSS! I drive through Meade for work every now and then so when I do I try my best to plan out my day so I can stop by around lunch time. I just drove by two days ago and I was there about 40 minutes before they opened. I was so heartbroken. :( I had to eat a shitty breakfast sandwich at the gas station across the street as a tear rolled down my eye while I looked at Smoke Hoss.

Even in southern KS Yelpers reign supreme. If you like a flavorful meat that doesn't need a sauce to be flavorful, the pork on the Big Pig is it. YET, the sauce itself was really great as well, light, sweet, a little hot and bright. We also tried a little of the brisket and that too was fresh, juicy and seasoned a bit differently from the pork. After being on the road for a week, and another week to go, this was a very welcome respite for lunch.

Had the Carolina chicken sandwich and fries. The fries were amazing! Almost had a crunchy breaded texture to them with a seasoned taste. Carolina mustard sauce was tangy with a little bit of spice, very good. Coleslaw is never my favorite but It pairs well with this type of sandwich. The chicken did not have much smoke flavor but made up for it with the juicy and tender texture, pretty good. Clean atmosphere, service was a bit slow, but worth a try. Recommended

We stopped here on the recommendation of a friend and were surprised at the trendy atmosphere of this place that sells smoked meats in the middle of rural Kansas. It had the modern, almost hipster vibe you would expect in a college town. Love the décor and the fact that there were a few toys in the front cubbies for our kids to play with while we perused the menu. The food was excellent. Husband got a big bbq sandwich which he said he really enjoyed, while I got the salad with smoked chicken, feta, & cranberries and it was just the right combination of flavors. Ken's Steakhouse dressing instead of some other cheaper brand tells me that they are doing it right, and not skimping. The only reason they are getting 4 instead of 5 stars is because of the service we received- and I can only really blame it on the one girl at the counter who seemed to be new. As soon as the person in the back noticed we hadn't gotten our food yet, she stepped up and made sure we had everything we needed from that point on. Can't wait to get back there some time.

Enjoyed the brisket & pork sandwiches. Bbq sauce was very good. Pay is extra for all sides. Cost was ok EXCEPT for the 25 cent charge for a glass of water. It always irritates to have a charge for a glass of water!! Especially when you've ordered lunch.

With no expectations in such a small town my husband and I stopped at The Smoke Hoss. What a wonderful surprise to have such a juicy flavorful California burger for me and a smokey Carolina burger for my hubby. Small but contemporary design and even organic coffee and a barista in Meade, KS, who woulda thought!

This place is legit. We had the "Redneck Reuben" (Reuben made with pulled pork) and the Bacon Cheddar Burger. Both were great! We have driven by this place several times while traveling, and I am really glad we stopped today. Really delicious!

I had Smoke Hoss cater a business lunch today. They made a variety of wraps, potato salad and cheesecakes. Everything was out of this world!! Great customer service and food that will have you telling everyone about! I wish I could give a 10 star rating.... they deserve it!

Delicious food! Stopped here on our way to St. Louis. Healthy food options, great service and atmosphere. Soup, chili and coffee is top notch. Yelpers stop here! My only suggestion is to make the cup of soup a little larger... It was a pretty small cup of soup.

I'm a trucker, I drive through Meade almost every week. The food here is excellent. The meat must be locally procured it's the most flavorful meat I've ever had. I'd eat here every week if it weren't for my co-driver, who prefers mexican food. Smoke Hoss is truly one of my all time favorites.

My boyfriend thought his BBQ sandwich was just ok, but LOVED the jerky. My grilled cheese sandwich was kind of terrible (which is odd -- how do you make a bad grilled cheese? The bread was bad and hard, and the cheese wasn't melted properly), as was the cookie. We tried a frozen slushie, which was pretty much just sugar water. In sum, stick to the meat! The people working there were SUPER nice, and the interior was pleasant -- slightly hipster and spotlessly clean.

5 of us stopped here on our way to Phoenix. The place doesn't have the name on the building or any signs with the name, but it does say BBQ in big letters. We all enjoyed our sandwiches (4 pulled pork, 1 Carolina style, and a brisket). BBQ beans were excellent! Cole slaw was good. Potato salad was good. Potato soup was ok. We all agreed we'd eat there again for the meat alone, and we'd probably all get beans as a side. (Sides are not included with the sandwiches FYI)

Today was my first time driving through Meade, KS on my way to Liberal, KS. I saw a sign that said SMOKEhoss! As a, let's say "BBQ Professional". I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered a brisket sandwich with "NO SAUCE" (I always let the meat do the talking) It didn't have the heavy smoke flavor from liquid smoke that I expect from other sites of its size. It was properly prepared and the pieces melted in my mouth. Here's the surprise, "THE BUN" i'm not sure where they get it (or if they make it in house) but I'd be tempted to return tomorrow (out of my way by an hour) just to order two different sandwiches with "THE BUN"! If I do get a chance to go back i'll try the two versions of sauce and let you all know. Thank you Mrs. Doney for a pleasant surprise!

We decided to eat at The Smoke Hoss after reading the positive Yelp reviews. What a good choice it was. Great food, quick and friendly service. I had the brisket sandwich and my friend had the pulled pork. Both were really good! The Irish Cream Latte was great, too!!! We enjoyed it so much on our way, we decided to stop on our way back. They only have ribs on Sunday and since it was Sunday, we tried them. My suggestion is to stick with the sandwiches. This will definitely be the place we stop when we are travelling through this area.

While in Meade for a friend's wedding, I was pleasantly surprised to see this alternative to your typical greasy diner. I never expected an espresso place with healthier alternatives--all the way out in Meade! My hubby and I each tried a different breakfast burrito--both were good, and they make a mean latte (I was shocked)! VERY VERY glad we glanced across the street before going into the diner attached to a truck stop across the street. My arteries thank me.
