OUTSTANDING food in the middle of nowhere. This is a favorite place with truckers. Service was second to none. Would definitely go back! Went for breakfast and wanted to stay for lunch!

This place is so damn good..and the peeps in here are super friendly and very down to Earth. You will get your money's worth eating here..so I highly recommend it. Proportions are very adequate and extremely filling. Everything I have ever ordered has been better than good..and this is one of those places that comes as close as it gets to a home cooked meal. My only complaint is that the sodas have a funky taste due to the the rural system. But the food dominates that factor..so stop in and get full..and fat. AND..the price is nice!! Come and find this hidden gem!!

On our antique exploring in Shelbyville, we asked one of the shop owners where to find a good place to eat . He directed us to Bev's County Diner. This place is in the middle of nowhere...really. I think I heard the banjo from Deliverance playing in the distance. It's small, and I think it used to be a root beer joint about 20 years ago (which was the last time it was remodeled). There was a counter with stools, and some well worn mix and max tables and chairs. Yep...it was like walking into a time warp! Menu is extensive. Hotcakes are $2.15, biscuits and gravy $3.75, one egg $1.05 and so forth. Very affordable. It was between breakfast (special included 2 eggs, biscuits with gravy, and breakfast potatoes for $4.25 and lunch special was a chicken patty. I don't know what they make patties out of, but I'll pass thank you very much. Hubby and I both went for breakfast. I had the special, and he had fried eggs and potatoes. Portions are large - my plate was bigger than my steering wheel. No way I could eat all that. The biscuits were outstanding. Did I mention everyone eating here was...ummm... large? And there were quite a few locals eating...I think we're the only out-of-towners. Did I mention there were homemade pies? Remember the pies your Grandma made where the meringue bled? My Grandma could make a killer key lime pie, but sometimes she would put so much food coloring in it would glow in the dark and turn our teeth green. But we loved that pie! I was too full to try Bev's (yes - Bev was really there and she was frying 16 chickens for the dinner special) Next time I'll save room for pie. If you ever get to Shelbyville, try Bev's. You (and your wallet) won't be sorry. And there's no need to dress up.

This has to be my favorite breakfast spot in Shelbyville Indiana. The food is delicious and our servers treated us like family. Monday through Friday they have breakfast and lunch specials. For $5.50 you can have 2 eggs, skillet potatoes, whatever the meat of the day is, and toast or biscuit. Their biscuits are delicious. Light not tough or heavy and scrumptious. We tried just about every breakfast special as well as most breakfast items from the menu. Pancakes are light and fluffy. Their sausage gravy has large pieces of pork sausage in a creamy gravy. Eggs are cooked how you ask not how some places cook them the way they like. We only had one lunch here and it was Indiana's tenderloin. For the uninitiated this is a piece of pork hammered out and breaded then fried. This was one of the best I've tasted. They also make delicious pies. We had heard about the butterscotch pie and asked but there wasn't one available. Our server Lesa said she'd talk to the boss and sure enough on our next visit the pie was there we bought the whole pie and it lived up to the hype. I'd recommend anyone in the area stop by and try the delicious food being put out by this little diner.
