Another visit to Phillies and it was well worth the trip. One of the few remaining good family friendly mom and pop pizza parlors left in the area. Great pizza. One of the best thin crispy crusts anywhere. I have been visiting here since I worked in the area over 20 years, and our server had been there as long as I can remember. We will continue to visit, we'll worth the trip.

I'll say this would be a 2 star if it wasn't for the great wait staff, smiles galore, I had bbq beef ,gf had bake mostacholi , sp?'. Anyways the sauce on the beef was a wierd tangy with a smoke taste, freshly put on the beef, not cooked in like it should have been. Gf's Dish looked good, just a plain mostacholi dish with baked mozzarella on top, nothing special here with what we ate, waitress was 5 star, decor was 4-5 star, food was 2 star

Best thin crust around! Phillies sets the standard for thin crust pizza.

Phillies came highly recommended by friends, so when my nephews were in town for a visit and wanted pizza, I thought I'd give it a try. The place was packed which should have been a good sign but all it seemed to mean was that everything took longer. There was no one at the hostess stand when we got there so we stood around for 10 minutes before someone came to seat us. We knew what we wanted so we ordered a salad and a couple of appetizers to start and then a pizza to share. The salad came up quickly although the dressing was in a plastic "to go" container which was odd since I didn't ask for it on the side. Obviously they pre pack them as the oil had separated from the rest of the ingredients. And this salad was all ice burg with a few peppers, mushrooms and onions tossed in. Nothing to make note of, that's for sure. When the appetizers came up after a bit of a wait- here again the blue cheese and the cocktail sauce also came in plastic containers. It just felt a little cheap for a st down, family restaurant. The pizza, itself, saved the day as the crust was thin and crisp and the toppings were quite good. Not my favorite thin crust in the area but it certainly will suffice! Unfortunately, service was spotty and not particularly helpful. When we asked her what appetizer she liked- she couldn't name one . . . . always a problem in my book. And since she had a number of other tables- it was hard to get her attention to get the boys drink refills and some water for the table. The dining room has a nice mix of booths and stand alone tables. And the smallish bar up front seems like a meeting place for locals. Phillies is located at the end of a strip mall (what isn't in the "burbs"?) and there is plenty of parking in the large lot. Doubt I'm going to be a regular here but if I need to feed a gang of kids pizza in the future- I'll know just where to go!

I walked in here a while ago and forgot to right my review. For the record, its not the MOST depressing place to eat around willowbrook - but its damn near close. This place has an original atmosphere. It has all the depression and sense of unaccomplishment of your standard airport bar. But at the same time it has the staff of a roadside diner. So the combination is something like a Amerian Legion hall if they hosted retirment parties and had waitresses named sue. Either way, its not worth stopping here.

As many years as I lived right down the road from this place, I didn't start patronizing it until about six months before I moved away. Never ate in, and never tried the pizza. What I always used to do was call in a carryout order of any one of their sandwiches for lunch when I was working from home. My order was always ready within ten minutes, and very good. You can't go wrong with the club (my favorite) or the chicken/tuna salad sandwiches. Typical strip mall pizzeria (I can't comment on the pizza) which puts together a pretty good sandwich and has prompt, friendly service.

Phillies serves up my favorite pizza, and for a picky eater like me it surely is worth 5 stars. The place is walking distance from my childhood home so whenever I'm back in town at my parents you can be sure it's one of the first places I eat at. I highly recommend the Mrs. Phillies Special - Bar-B-Q Sauce, Cheese, Sausage, Bacon & Onion. It's soooo good! Their french fries are also really, really good. They have this super tasty crispy outisde, the perfect balance of crunch. I'm huge on BBQ sauce, and theirs is great. Which is why I also love their BBQ Char Chicken sandwhich. Yummo! Their breaded shrimp dinners are pretty good too. I usually order take out from there but I have eaten inside once or twice. It's a quaint, suburban place. Lots of wood everywhere and like another reviewer said, a really big screen which is good to watch the game on. I really like the bar area, my friends and I have had a few there. It's a homey place and just like home, you can expect the food to be consistent and satisfying. Phillies is A+ in my book.

Have only done carry out until yesterday. Always love the pizza and the fried chicken too. The service last night was excellent. Our server was friendly and helpful. She offered us just the right amount of antipasto salad and pizza for six. And she kept the Blue Moon pitchers coming. But onion ring and mushroom appetizers were clearly frozen and pretty average.

I have been here many times over the years, as it is close to my mom's place. Phillies has a nice menu with several burgers, sandwiches, fried chicken and pizza. The pizza is definitely the star of the show. The pizza is a very thin (almost cracker) crust, with generous cheese and toppings. This is somewhat similar to Vito and Nicks, or Rosati's. I have never been disappointed with the pizza here. If you like this style, you probably will be pleased. I have also had the fried chicken a couple of times, and it was very good.

When the family is in the mood for cracker crust thin style pizza, Phillies it the place to go. The service is great and it is always full, but never too crowded that we can't eat when we want to. I personally love the double decker style pizza that they have. It is fantastic. The service is always good, and don't forget the "Fast Food" style section of this restaurant where you can order their great food to go.

I used to eat here all the time when I was a kid. It was my family's go to pizza place. When my husband and I ordered some pizza with my dad a few months ago, we were really disappointed. The quality of ingredients was lower, prices higher, and tasted completely different. All in all, the pizza tasted cheap: bland sauce, overly cheesy, stale crust...but it wasn't cheap! However, I know a lot of people still like this place, so maybe give it a whirl. I will not be returning, but everyone has their pizza particulars!

I'll be honest, my family does not like this pizza (but they like Papa Passeros so what does that say about them) and I absolutely love this pizza. Whenever I order it I know it is all mine, but that's okay because I like the leftovers too. I almost always order the pizza to be delivered and have not actually been there in years. I'm going to take the hubby soon though as he has yet to try it. My absolute favorite thing to get is the breaded cauliflower and a cheese and onion pizza. No, I'm not a vegetarian, it's just what I like here.

Continuing our 7-year quest for a great western suburban pizza place, we visited Phillies after seeing a coupon in a mailer we received. It was a very mediocre experience. The ambience is dated but "fine," the menu seemed "fine" and the place was kid friendly (which was good). The wings were good but they were probably the best part of our meal. The fried chicken was good, not great. The kids meals - the fries were the spicy kind (which my kids hate) and the rest was mediocre. The pizza - - - oh, how I was hoping for a delicious thin crust such as I read on Yelp from others. Instead the pizza was overcooked, the crust was way too cripsy, the cheese too hard. Service was friendly but our waitress did not clear a single plate throughout our meal, so our table was just a mess. We were there early and it was no busy, FYI. I know many people love this place, I wish we could love it too but I doubt we are ever headed back. I just want a great pizza place that also has great delicious thoughtful entrees and a decent wine list. Just like the old Enrico's in Frankfort :)

Great fried chicken. I am on a mission to find fried chicken everywhere I travel and this place did not dissapoint. I ordered the 3 piece chicken dinner to go and did not get to eat it for at least 15 minutes later but it was still juicy and hot. I especially enjoyed the seasoning mixed in the breading. It was exactly what seperates this place from a fried chicken chain resteraunt. I will have to come back and try the pizza because while I waited for my meal, everyone that came in was getting the pizza, even a girl on her birthday was choosing it as her favorite meal. I will be going back and recommend this as the best fried chicken in the burbs. So far ...

I was a huge fan of Phillies in the 80s. Great place to gather with high school friends on friday nights since we lived in Hinsdale. Just moved to Willowbrook and have been here twice since I moved last April. The first time, me and a couple friends and two kids came. We ordered a taco pizza for the adults. Spent the night throwing up. The second time was over this past summer, went with an old college friend. We sat at the bar and ordered a few appetizers to share. Disgusting. They are stuck in the 80s. The spaghetti and meatballs tasted like chef boyardee shit. And the breaded shrimp was tough as nails. And the bartender was this old lady who was the rudest bitch who ever walked the face of this earth. I think the waitresses and bartenders are all the same people that worked there in the 80s.....miserable people. And the decor hasn't changed either If it weren't for the rude bartender, it would have been a fun time at the bar.

This is a favorite and go to pizza joint of friends and I have dined here and gotten take out many times. The pizza is consistently good, we usually always get the Phillie's Special (Sausage, Green Peppers, and Onions). Even the small pizza is huge! They have AWESOME chicken wings too. There is always tons of meat and little bones. Outside of Pizza and Chicken Wings the menu is only so-so. The salads leave much to desire and the sandwiches I have had were dry. But, what do you expect from a pizza joint? They only deliver to a small area and it usually takes about an hour. The service is okay when you dine in. There is a large dining room with a big screen TV, perfect for watching games.

I am in Seattle now and miss this place like I miss my childhood. I spent 2004-2006 at the bar, my favorite bar in America because it does what it's supposed to do. I'd get Long Islands and a pizza every off day from work. Seattle-actually, anywhere west of Missouri-is incapable of making pizza the Midwest/East Coast way-they say it's the water-I dunno, but I can believe it, because they try to make Chicago pizza up here and 1-2 places are close but not there. It's OK-to-good as food, but not pizza in that way. OK, enough-this is about Phillies-I miss it and it will be my first visit when I return. Man, I used to live less than a mile from there!!

Phillie's Pizza is our family's #1 pizza restaurant. It is my wife's and my favorite pizza. The general flavor, especially the crust and the tomato sauce are beyond delicious in my opinion. For anyone who grew up in Westmont in the earlier years, it is the closest tasting pizza to the Trieste Restaurant that we can find. It is the thinnest of thin crusts, and literally melts in your mouth after a slight crunch. I am lactose intolerant, so I must order a "cheese-less" pizza. Okay, I'll take the ridicule that pizza isn't pizza unless it has cheese, but I order sausage, mushrooms, green pepper and olives to compliment the thin crust and tasty sauce. The servers are friendly and helpful (if Marion serves you, you'll be treated like family), and keep your glasses full. Of course unlimited refills on soda, coffee, iced and hot tea. I love their Italian Beef Sandwiches, and have a difficult time deciding if I'm going to have beef, pizza, or the best friend chicken in the area! I even like their fried chicken more than White Fence Farm, and that is a favorite in my book. Don't miss dining at Phillie's Pizza, or order to take out and eat at home or on a picnic sometime. Also, consider having a party or get-together in their private room. You have to reserve it in advance, but there's no charge just for having a group dine there, and spend as much time as you like in the room.

Tried this place out tonight as it is right down the street from where I live. I ate at the bar and the meal / service was fine. Unfortunately there was a drunk regular (Shaun) sitting at the bar cursing and speaking loudly. It seemed as if every other word was F this or F that. When the waitress, who he was trying to hit on, went in the kitchen he would just talk louder to her around the corner through two double doors. I couldn't imagine how the parents seated at the table in the dining room felt about their kids hearing him curse continually. It was bad enough that neither the bartender or waitress cared to quiet him down as this appeared to accepted as every day activity, The manager on duty gave no reaction and seemed to be more of a pizza delivery boy than a manager. Needless to say I won't be back as I'm sure a number of people will not who witnessed the way this establishment tolerates that behavior.

We ordered a 16" thin crust cheese, sausage, mushrooms and pepperoni pizza for delivery on a Sunday evening. The pizza was delivered hot in about 45 minutes. The pizza tasted good. Is it the best pizza around? No, but it is quite respectable. The pizza was a tad bit salty, in spots, and the spiciness of the pizza/pizza sauce was a bit uneven. The amount of toppings was good. All in all, very edible.

Hands down this is my favorite place to go for thin crust pizza!! Their thin crust pizza is among the best I have ever had, the crust is very thin and very light. The sauce has just the right amount of seasoning and the toppings are always very good. Since I love their pizza so much I have not tried much else on the menu so I cannot comment on it.

My husband and I moved back to the suburbs and have been searching for a go-to pizza place. The pizza has been sub-par from other places and the delivery drivers would complain about their jobs instead of apologizing for being so late and not bringing the change that was requested when the order was placed. My father-in-law recommended Phillies and we are so excited that the search is finally over! Before I even tried the pizza, I texted my husband to tell him we can always order from this place, based on the delivery driver alone- he offered to help with some large boxes that had been delivered. I declined bc my husband would be home shortly to handle them, but I couldn't believe how sweet he was to offer. You don't find good hearted people that go above and beyond like that in the service industry these days, what a breath of fresh air! And to top it all off, the pizza was perfect. Tons of flavor, arrived hot, smelled amazing, and the crust was by far the best thin crust in the area. We're officially regulars! Thanks, Phillies and very sweet Mr. Delivery Man!

I have been going to Phillies for the past few years when I attend a convention in the area. The decor here is seriously lacking, but I don't come here for the decor, I come here for the pizza. That being said it is some seriously good pizza. They pile the toppings high yet still make the thin crust very crispy. (Just the way I like it!) Their fried chicken is great, too. My daughter ordered it and loved it and I 'had' to steal a bite :) Very crisp yet not greasy and had a delicious flavor.

Well there are not many places to go drinking in Willowbrook and this is mainly a restaurant. The pizza tasted like cardboard and was not worth the price. The beer was expensive and the slow bartender moved like retirement age. The bar part is small and cramped and the dining area while busy is nothing to write home about. This is primarily a bar for families and old people and I did not see any singles under the age of forty in the place. They must be all in the city because the burbs are filled with places like this.

Great staff. Really nice waitress. Doesn't bother you. The raspberry iced tea is delicious. The pizza took a while but it's is worth it. It's fantastic. The inside has a saloon vibe to it. It's a pretty nice place.

I had the battered shrimp and they were beyond tasty, it felt like oral sex on a balmy New Orleans night, crispy and creamy but not overdone, the tomato salad that came with it mashed perfectly with the Shrimps, the Stella Artois washed it down and I was as happy as a lark.

I've heard good things about the hot wings here, so I thought I've give them a shot. I placed a takeout order for wings and mentioned that I liked them pretty spicy, and they offered some wing sauce on the side at no extra charge. The wings were of decent size, juicy and moderately spicy without dosing them up with the sauce. Which I, of course, did. They were served with celery sticks but no blue cheese or ranch dipping sauce. I don't order chicken wings that often, but the price seems a little bit high to me (at nearly a buck per wing), even given the size and high quality of the ones here. It's not a dealbreaker, though. I'm glad this place is in the neighborhood. Next time I'll try the pizza.

Entered Phillies at 3:00 pm. The sign said "Seat Yourself" which I did. Almost 10 minutes later, a waitress comes from the back and asks, "How are you?" I said, "Fine, now that you're here." She asked, "Waiting long?" I said, "Yes, quite a while," and she gave a non-believing look. Anyway, last time here, a small cheese and sausage pizza cost about $17, all told - without a beverage. This time, besides a dining room without any workers in sight, it was the high prices that were disturbing. This time, I had a reuben sandwich with fries and a glass of Coke. While the reuben was just ok, and the fries and accompanying cole slaw were good, the final bill was $13.95! The reason being the Coke. A glass of Coke costs $2.95 (plus tax) at this place. Such incredibly high prices for a beverage can ruin an otherwise doable dining experience. All in all, someone needs to "man" the restaurant so they know when a customer comes in. The atmosphere is kind of dark and dreary - even for an old pizza joint - the staff attentiveness is obviously lacking, and the horrendous $2.95 pricing for a glass of pop needs to be reconsidered. Needless to say, I do not recommend this place at this time.

Picked up a small thin crust today. Got home, opened up the pizza to find it completely burnt. They sent out another and it was just okay. I took a break from them for about 4 months to try other places. I don't know if there are new owners now but the pizza was terrible.

Yes, the quality of the menu items isn't consistently amazing. Yes, when you dine in everything about the atmosphere feels cheap. But I don't care - the pizza is too good. To this day, Phillis is my favorite thin crust pizza PERIOD. Prices are pretty solid compared to their local competition and there is enough on the menu for you to find something to eat if you don't want pizza or don't eat meet. I love this place but believe that take out or delivery are definitely your best options.

The last time I was here was 8 years ago... me and my bf, moved in together and has lived in Darien for 7 years and we always wanted to swing by, but end up somewhere else. Anyways, finally this past weekend, I think Friday night, we came back... and it looks basically the same... same staff, same decor.... We sat at the bar (bartender was really friendly, informative-- but not annoying friendly).... the family sit down area, was pretty busy.... the bar area was quite busy with patrons who knew each other... We ordered the spicy shrimp popcorn, which was pretty decent size appetizer... nothing spectacular... We ordered the salad... and it was delicious and a hefty portion.... with anchovies... yummy Next, we ordered Phillies special thin crust.... and i'm glad we did... it was incredible. I'm still getting goose bumps when I think of the thin crust pizza we got from Rosati's (check out my previous yelp. It was cold and too oily, gross) Anyways... this Phillies Special... is really good.... really thin, not oily at all.... really hot when its served, and has the perfect crunch.... I suggest giving it a few minutes to rest, before eating... I learned my lesson... when its not at its hottest temp, it was divine..... they serve popcorn every 10 minutes... brilliant idea.... you kinda want to order more drinks while eating popcorn... and since some people are allergic to nuts.. popcorn is the best salty refreshing option... We will be back soon....

If McKayla Maroney came here, she'd be all kinds of unimpressed. My friends and I were looking for somewhere to grab a quick bite and to get a beer. We originally went to a different place, but we were pretty hungry, so not knowing the Willowbrook area too well, we stopped at Phillies because it was close by and because my friend had been here once before. The restaurant/bar was pretty empty and kinda dark. We took a seat at a table near the bar and looked at the menus. They have several daily specials. One of the specials for Wednesday is Sam Adams Oktoberfest. Boy, I hope they just haven't updated their menu and that they don't actually still have Oktoberfest around. You know, because it's January. And because anything left over from October can't be good anymore. Beer expires, FYI. I decided to go with a draft of 312, since there aren't many beer options: Miller, Bud, Stella, 312, and some other generic draft. Not much of a selection, but hell, a 312 is fine with me. Unfortunately, it tasted weird. I should have known better than to trust the tap at a place like this. As for food, I ordered the hot dog basket which just comes with fries and some slaw. The hot dog was okay, but I've had better at smaller places. There were barely any fries, but that was fine since they weren't that good anyway. They were way over-fried. As for the atmosphere, it's kinda depressing. There's some weird paintings by the bar of naked women. The regulars (I'm assuming) were just sitting there watching Wheel of Fortune. Also, for not a lot of people being in the resturant, our waitress was pretty unattentive. It took a while for her to come to our table and drop off our check. We were ready to pay immediately, but it took about 10 minutes for her to come back and pick them up. Speaking of my check, my total was $11. For what? A crappy draft beer and a hot dog? Seriously? Looking at other reviews, it seems like they might have good pizza, but after this experience, I don't know that I'd want to even try. This place is pretty divey, but there's good divey, and then there's Phillies.

Great staff. Really nice waitress. Doesn't bother you. The raspberry iced tea is delicious. The pizza took a while but it's is worth it. It's fantastic. The inside has a saloon vibe to it. It's a pretty nice place.

Awesome thin crust CRISPY pizza. A little pricey but well worth it. Good appetizers and chicken as well.

I love their beef and cheese. Their fries are great and the service is friendly and fast with your order.
